20 Best Emergency Lights For Home (2023 Updated)

Was really happy to get my awesome little emergency LED Quantum light from Lithonia Lighting. It arrived super quick & was packaged very well to prevent damage which I really appreciated. The light is just right for my needs.

It is on the smaller side of sizes. It has adjustable optics. And the best part is that it keeps an hour power stored just for when the power goes out. Its great. It was easy to install. It also has dual voltage so you can use it with 120 or 277v which was just right for the room we put the light up in.

The 5 year warranty was also nice to have! The maintenance free battery that was included was also a plus! The quality seems to look like it is made very well & to last. The design is simple and works for where I needed it installed.

Looking forward to seeing what else this company creates in the future. I already recommend this light, so anything in I need in the future, I’ll be checking out Lithonia Lighting before anywhere else.

A product like the ELM2L is normally seen in businesses or industrial applications. I have a home theatre in the upstairs area of my home with all windows covered to “Black out” the theatre. There have been occasions when power went off and accidents happened.

The addition of this unit was the solution. Its GREAT for home use!.

I am very happy with this light. I’ve recently been upgrading my house in case of power failures and emergency and this was just perfect. I had no problems installing it and it works great! Lights last quite long and it’s brighter than I thought it would be.

Excellent light for when we need it!.

Received this a couple of days ago. Easy instructions and extremely easy directions. I put this outside by my tree that looks scary at night. So when someone walks near it, it lights up so well and doesn’t scary me while I’m outside.

It’s so bright and I’m totally loving this. I have bought 4 more. I can’t wait to show my friends and family about this wonderful product. Thank you.

I got this a few weeks ago and I’m really happy that I did. It’s smaller in size so it’s great for smaller rooms/areas but it’s quite mighty for its size. The illumination is really powerful and makes me feel a lot more comfortable knowing it’s there in case of emergency.

It was quite easy to install and seems to have a substantial battery. I’ve only had it a short while so I can’t speak yet to how long it will last but so far I am happy with it.

This is just what we needed for our driveway. It was actually fairly easy to install with well written instructions. Durable and sturdy enough for Texas style winds. The lights themselves are very bright and cover our whole driveway.

Extremely easy to install, making this Lithonia Lighting unit stand above the rest! Very bright back-up lighting for almost any environment. I highly recommend this unit!

Great for when power goes out to have an emergency back up. Easily charges through your electrical outlet. It provides up to 90 minutes of emergency power. The light output is better than a standard bulb too at a fraction of the power.

I got this light fixture the other day and I just say it is much brighter light than I expected. It was very easy to install and set up was a breeze. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. I will be purchasing more of this brand in the near future.

I was one of the lucky ones to be chosen to receive a free sample of the Energizer LED Emergency Lantern through Home Tester Club. This product has some nice features that I really liked. First feature is it has 2 different battery sizes you can choose to use!! It takes Either.

3 D size batteries OR 3 AA batteries. I’ve never seen that option before in a product. I like it because not everyone has D size batteries on hand. So glad it gave me the option of using AA batteries which I always seem to have plenty in a drawer.

The 2nd feature I Really like is the lantern has 3 light intensities. Really bright, bright and a Nightlight!! I’m sure any child who’s camping with their family will Love the nightlight feature!! Plus, LED bulbs don’t get hot to touch.

The 3rd feature I like is that the lantern is waterproof. No more worrying about it getting wet in the rain and possibly causing rust. This makes it also easy to wipe off any kind of splatters. I recommend this light weight LED lantern.

We’re thoroughly amazed by Energizer’s LED Emergency Lantern! It’s the perfect size and lightweight. It easily fits in a bag or straps to a backpack, still leaving space and not weighing you down. If stored for emergency use, it wouldn’t take up much space at all! This lantern really packs a punch! It has 3 light settings: the brightest is wonderful—you can see a significant distance out (this is what surprised me most); The second light preference is perfect for sitting around a table to play games, or when you need light but don’t want something too blinding to disturb others.

The lowest, a nightlight, won’t bother anyone yet gets the job done. All three are perfect! Also, it’s easy to operate with one button to adjust dim and simple yet tight twist bottom for batteries. Only thing that it could use is a shield of some type, maybe a clip on, that can be easily applied to adjust the direction of the light.

After experiencing a power outage and realizing I didn’t have a proper light source, I instantly went out and purchased this the following day for an emergency. I was very surprised at how powerful and bright this item actually is.

I purchased another light source but it was very weak. This was the last one left on the shelf and I’m glad I snagged it. It lights up an entire section of my home and provides adequate light to still do things.

You also can’t tell from the photo but this also comes with a USB plug. For the price, I thought it was a wonderful deal!.

These lights are high quality and come fully charged. They give a nice night light and during a power failure they are life savers. At such a low price you can put them at all of the essential locations.

I gave four stars instead of five only because when they are in the night light mode due to the angle of the light they are a bit blinding. Also the sensor does not work during a power failure. They just go on day or night.

But they are very good lights at a nice price. I do recommend them.

I ordered 3 packages of these lights (6 lights total). The ones that work are wonderful, very useful and helpful. 2 of these lights do not work however. The On/Off switch just causes the light to flicker a bit and then go out on each of those 2.

I would like to get replacements for these 2 if you can help me know how to return them.

The night lights give off a good amount of light but if you need to use the other outlet, the fit is tight. If you need to plug in a 3 prong cord, you have to take the light out because 2 cords won’t fit in the outlet.

I recently received my new Lithonia Lighting – ECR LED M6 and I am so glad I got this. It is extremely well made and it was the perfect solution to my needs. Very simple installation with quality hardware.

This emergency light is perfect for home or business installation and definitely provides peace of mind. The letters on it can be seen from a good distance away making me feel that in a fire everyone could safely get out.

The side lights are moveable so you can angle them in the direction you need and the whole thing itself can be mounted from side, top or bottom along with the directional chevron inserts which make it perfect for any area.

I got the Lithonia Lighting ECR LED M6 Emergency Combo Exit/ Light. I really like this emergency exit light due to its versatility. It is very lightweight and can be mounted to a wall or a ceiling. The lights are fairly bright.

I would definitely recommend this emergency sign to anybody in the market for one definitely getting more.

This unit has a more than adequate light output and two adjustable lamps to facilitate this. Installation was relatively easy with good instructions which can also be accessed online. It took me less than 30 minutes to complete the installation process.

There are plenty of holes on the mounting bracket, and so you cannot go wrong. I mounted it on the wall and it is quite unobtrusive. Loss of power has been a real issue this summer and this product will illuminate for a period of approximately 90 minutes after a power outage.

Works very well and I will be purchasing additional units.

The sixth unit to bear the ELM2 name, the ELM2L is a current product offering in what could be called the fifth generation of Lithonias Quantum Series. It is the entry-level replacement to the ELM2 LED and is produced in the same facility in Mexico where some of the best Lithonia life safety products of the past were produced.

Overall, Im pretty impressed with the ELM2L. The price-to-performance is excellent and easily eclipses the Sure-Lites APEL as the best budget” unit available. (The Sure-Lites APEL, also called the “All-Pro” series, is a big-box mainstay, usually right beside the generic Jiming units produced in China.

I’d stay far, far away from those. They might be easy on the wallet, but their performance is absolutely abysmal and they barely meet minimum requirements for code. ) That doesnt mean there arent problems, though.

First things first, check out that first picture. Everything looks great because the status indication is green, right? Actually, things are not as they seem. The battery terminal in this unit is wired backwards compared to the industry standard, so the battery in the first picture is connected out-of-phase.

However, the status indication still shows a green code as if there were no problems whatsoever. Because these are life-safety products and are required to be in operational condition, it’s extremely dangerous that these units aren’t able to throw a battery disconnect code for a battery connected out of polarity.

As you can see in the second picture, when the battery is connected properly, the unit works as designed. The next major issue is the way Lithonia deals with remote capacity on these units. Lithonia gives you the option to run one 1W, 3.

6V remote head from this unit. However, unlike the majority of their other units, they don’t offer a dedicated connection point on the board to connect your remote leads. Instead, Lithonia makes you splice into one of the leads for the built-in optics.

This, I feel, will lead to nightmares in the field. There are already contractors out there who lack understanding of remote capacity. If one of those guys gets hold of one of these units, it could potentially end up causing a life-threatening situation where the unit doesn’t operate correctly or at all.

Problems aside, I still highly recommend the ELM2L for budget applications. It is a fine unit to carry on the ELM2 lineage and certainly the best thing anyones going to get in this price range.

This light was extremely easy to install! It gives off great lighting, and works excatly like it should. Great quality and I love that its maintence free! The head lamps are even “aim-able” so you can direct them excatly where you want your lighting! It has a 5 year warranty, and is a direct wire installation! You really can’t go wrong with this product.

We absolutely love our GE 3-in-1 power failure, flash light, night lights. Our entire extended family has discovered them and we use them EVERYWHERE! They are in our homes in various places, in our RVs, and we even have them in our suit cases for hotel stays.

The grandkids feel secure all night long. They truly are super bright as night lights. We especially love that they are readily available as bright flash lights. Just detach from the outlet, fold up the prongs and you have a rechargeable flashlight that lasts for hours.

They ARE wonderful as light-sensing night lights and without fail they always come on when the power goes off or when they are removed from the outlet. I can’t imagine why another reviewer said they don’t stay on when the power is off.

We never leave home without ours. I don’t usually write reviews, but due to the negative reviews that others have posted I felt that I must. These are a great product and I hope that GE will continue to make them!.

Personally, I don’t like it much. The price is on the higher end. It’s very small. The overall light is very less. It should start lighting when the room is dark. Most of the time it keeps on running/lighting even though there is no dark.

Living the the PNW and heading into the rainy season these come on handy. I have one from a few years ago that although is not as bright as the two I recently purchased still does the job. This recent purchase is one for myself and an autistic gentleman who dislikes the dark.

This is perfect for hom as it remains off during the day and turns on at night for him for a soft light that isnt too distracting for him. When power goes out it comes on and stays lit until the power is back up and running.

We mainly use them in the bathroom and hallway areas and one in the one bedroom. Comes in handy until the battery operated lanterns come out.

This light does what it is supposed to do. I would probably not put “bright” in the description. In a power outage, it illuminates as it should but it is like all other emergency lights, putting out what is required.

We are waiting to see how long the batteries will maintain.

It has the old style lead acid batteries. I missed that while purchasing.

This light is excellent for use during power outages as it will automatically turn itself on and later when power is restored it will turn off to recharge its battery. This is great for use in windowless rooms, hallways, basements, stairs, at home, office, or schools where a low-maintenance, easy-to-use fixture would be helpful.

I own one at home and it takes up very little room on my bookshelf, but proved itself useful during a recent power outage. This fixture is lightweight and very portable to carry with you if you want to use it as a lantern.

I’m totally satisfied with the performance of this unit in our home and recommend it.

This is the only emergency light that will provide light for 8 (full 6 LEDs) or 16 hours (3 of 6 LEDs). Everything else is 1. 5 to 3 hours max. Clean lines and good night light. This is the only unit anyone should consider buying regardless of price, which is very reasonable on this product.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE and can be carried around like a portable lantern. Rates about a 7 out of 5!!!!!!.

I got two of these lights about three months ago in preparation for the winter. They arrived promptly and have an amazingly brightness. Unfortunately, one had a faulty switch and was returned to our local HD.

No problem returning and because I was so impressed I immediately ordered a replacement. Because of this I only awarded four stars otherwise would have been five.

Love it. have bought two cheaper light units and both are in the trash. Then went for the quality one. THIS IS IT. Loved it so much after the first one I went back for two more. We have power failures being in a new development as well as living in North Carolina.

Hurricane Matthew made me spend the extra cash for the good lights. you can have it run one or both lights. One will go 40 hours and two will go 20 hours. I like that. You can also leave it plugged in, and turn the lights off, like during the day in a power failure, and then have one or two on at night as needed.

They can hang on the wall on two plastic tabs with holes in them. I have two nails in the wall to fit so I can just lift this whole unit off and take it where I might want to go and have light for up to 40 hours.

It is really good quality and well designed as it can also sit on a table. Very well done and I will soon go back for several more. We were 2 days without power in the storm and I want to be prepared for the next one.

These use a lead / acid battery so need to be unplugged and run some every month or two to keep the battery at it’s best. I hope this helps. I seldom give raving reviews ,but this one deserves it. Jim in NC.

Performs exactly as advertized. Lights are bright enough to get around my basement. Like that I can unplug the unit and take it anywhere I need to go in the dark. The 2 lights can be tilted and turned to allow you to focus the light where you want it.

This light is exactly what it said. We are using this for emergency when the power goes off especially when we have storm season. We never have to use it yet but we tested it and it worked. This light looks good and not too big.

I have used these LED emergency lights before and so far so good. The cost is about the same as replacing the batteries on the old incandescent units. We have one LED unit that is about 2 years old and still works great.

I’m hoping the battery life in these new units go for at least five years, (I’ll be retired then, somebody else’s problem!) I think we got about 3 years out of the lead acid batteries. time will tell.

Good basic LED emergency light with capability to run a remote head. The wall plate contains a female socket that mates with the circuit board, making the power connection easy. The remote head connection needs wire nuts.

Unit would be much easier to install if the remote connection also had a female socket to mate with the circuit board.

This light was easy to install and the instructions were simple to comprehend if necessary. The lights are very bright and provide enough lighting for different situations. I also love that it is very durable and well made.

This is an excellent product when you get one that works. I bought 2 that were sealed boxes and they work fine, but I bought 3 open boxes and none of them worked. Beware of open boxes when buying one of these.

You must open the housing and connect the battery after receiving these or the green light will not come on to charge the battery.

Works as advertised. There is a quick connect for the power attached to the mounting bracket for the wires. While this makes wiring easier, it can be difficult to get the connection right. Cut all that plastic clip junk off the mounting bracket, plug the connector into the unit and nut the wires as you put it up.

That way you know the connection is made it is way less of a headache.

I use part of my back yard to do projects. It’s really dark back there and decided to put this light in the back of the porch. From welding, to carpentry, I use that space a lot. What I like about this lighting is how easy it is to attach and get it connected.

The two lights are definitely bright and give me the lighting I need to get around. The steel housing definitely gives it more protection and makes it more sturdy. Overall, it’s bright and just what I needed.

Overall, this is a good emergency light. It works well enough – provides extremely bright and dispersed light. It was pretty easy to install – and does exactly what you would hope – provides light when you lose power.

It lasts a decent while – hopefully long enough for power to come back on (haven’t had to test that one out yet). I like this light because it gives you the peace of mind knowing you will have light in case of a power outage.

This Emergency Lighting box is perfect for my needs. I was always replacing batteries in my small Emergency Lights and it was very costly. This unit is amazing. The lights are bright enough to actually “light” a big area in an outage.

The econolight C-EE-A-EMG Series is an excellent product. The workmanship is outstanding and the product support is exceptional! Since my shop has no windows I needed an emergency light in case of a power outage.

Especially if I was using a power tool and the shop suddenly lost power. If the power is out for any length of time I also required the product to survive at low temperatures. The light easily met those requirements.

The installation is simple yet the instructions could be clearer by adding a couple of pictorials showing the battery and photo cell bypass cables. These cables are not easy to locate and should be tagged.

Overall great product. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the test button for testing the battery is not long enough to engage the button inside the fixture. The only way you can check the battery is to turn the circuit off or uninstall the fixture.

Very easy light to work on, replacement is exactly the same.
