The SL3 is an amazing camera for the price! I’ve used the lower level cameras such as the T7(which I had originally planned on getting) and they’re almost incomparable. From the lightweight yet solid feel to the comparatively blisteringly fast autofocus.

The SL3 is worth the slightly larger price tag. Other features that set it apart are the in camera adjustments on the files such and being able to set the contrast and the saturation and warmth before you even take the picture.

The flip screen is also incredibly handy for difficult shots where you need to position the camera in such a way that you can’t look through the viewfinder or even the fixed screen. Overall an amazing camera especially for the price.

Keep in mind the camera is also limited by the lens no matter how good your camera is if you have a junky lens your image quality will be junky as well.

For filming weddings with this SL3 you have to ask yourself some simple questions? Are you good in filming events? Do you think that 4K matters? Can you shoot manual focus? Do you use a gimbal? Do you trust to press record again when you reach the 29:00 min recording? Can you this camera without a single battery changed? Finally, does body look of this DSLR would not embarrass you on a huge wedding event? IF YOU ANSWER YES TO ALL THEN GET THIS SL3!!! And leave the criticism to those that think that other pro cameras makes filming much greater! When it is you the person that makes things look perfect! Every camera out there have their flaws but it is you the videographer that makes things become an art and masterpiece.

This tiny DSLR is just a little chunkier than a small mirrorless camera and gives some unique alternatives. You can shoot it as a DSLR with a nice, clear optical viewfinder with 9 focusing points or you can shoot it as a “mirrorless” camera using the back screen which gives you many more focus point, eye AF and Canon’s legendary Dual Pixel Auto Focus that smoothly acquires focus without hunting back and forth.

For video people, you can clean HDMI output to an external recorder and get 4:2:2 10 bit at 4k! The new Canon 90D doesn’t have this feature according to the specs. The battery life is unbelievably good and will outlast ANY mirrorless camera by far.

THE BAD: 4K looks great but is not very flexible in as much as you have only 23. 98P and no DPAF! Rolling shutter is pretty bad in 4K. Also, 4K has an additional crop so you’ll really need a wide lens for it to be useable.

This camera has two levels of electronic image stabilization which works with Canon’s optically stabilized lens but crops your video further still! The sensor is really clean and almost free of noise at 6400 ISO and is very useable up to 12,800 with level one high ISO noise reduction turned on.

I didn’t see any improvement from 1,2, or 3 in terms of in-camera NR. The SL3 has a setting that makes the camera take 4 photos every time you press the shutter which it samples and then produces a single noise-free The creative filters are actually really handy and in some cases can provide a more interesting photo than even the most experienced photographer could take.

It has focus-peaking for manual focus or focus-pulling and the autofocus on the back screen does an incredible job following faces or whatever your subject is, keeping them in focus.

There are some good things about the camera, specially its reliability -yet as it can malfunction or need cleaning, I strongly suggest to only buy US models as a the international models will not be serviced by Nikon US- and good autofocus speed and good low light performance.

At the same time this camera uses old technology; and it falls shorts in almost all areas compared to the cheaper new Z9. its resolution of 20mb is very low compared to alternatives and it will not give you room too crop to zoom if you need.

For buyers getting into photography for the first time, this camera will require quite a bit of initial investment of learning, but once you understand it, it will last you many years. Yet, your time will be better spent in mirrorless in cameras as those are the future.

First, I am NOT a professional photographer. I bought this so I could take better pictures of my daughters volleyball matches, and other things. Poor indoor lighting with fast paced action was difficult to photograph with my previous camera.

Now I end up with almost too many photos because the higher ISO availability makes it easier to get good action shots in subpar lighting, and, the autofocus is awesome so, many more of the pictures are in good focus.

That and with up to 14 frames per second, I can just take more pictures. I didn’t rate this 5 stars on value because it is a very expensive camera. I rated it 3 stars on ease of use but it is a professional grade camera and not necessarily meant for “ease of use”.

You have to know what you are doing. I admit that I am still learning a lot about it’s features, which are numerous. I would not recommend this to my friends because none of them are professional photographers or as neurotic about taking action photos of their kids as I am.

I guess I am an extreme hobbyist. I would recommend it to a professional but why would a professional listen to me? When I can afford a good telephoto lens I hope to work on wildlife photography with it.

First advice check online review carefully. You will most and mine opinion is that the D6 was a waste of a product from launch. Marginal improvement over a D5, and now with mirrorless getting firmware upgrades and not the D6 it is clear Nikon has abandoned all D6/d5 owners to obsolensce.

After using a z9, using a D6 looks like prehistoric. And with the small sensor 20mp you cannot even crop that much so you will end up having to buy the very expensive long prime lenses (in comparison with a Z9 or even Z7 II you can use a cheaper shorter lens and crop ex-post or in dX mode to get an effective and useful long zoom file.

Do yourself a favor and stop looking for a D6 unless you want just to collect it in a glass shelf; but if you wan to do that, wait six months so this becomes half the price. It is very hard to pay half the cost of a Z9 for a D6.

Having owned the 90D for close to 2 years now, I’ve taken it everywhere I go if I sense there’ll be photographic opportunities. I upgraded from the iconic 60D, and this is a plentiful upgrade since it’s nearly a decade newer.

Upon first feel, the body is smaller and lighter. A more welcomed feature for those with smaller hands, but I prefer the size of the 60D. Not too small, not too big like the 5D series, just right. The aperture dial on the back is also noticeably smaller than the 60D, however the new grip more than makes up for it.

Pros: Speed. The autofocus is about 95% great. Occasionally it’ll give me an orange box in live view mode and disable the shutter button, but paired with my 70-300 IS USM lens, it focuses faster than my eye! The 10fps you get out of this camera is stellar.

Excellent for shooting fast aviation like I do. The 1. 6x crop factor also greatly helps with fighter jets, wildlife, and birds. Video: First thing I did when I unboxed the camera was immediately update the firmware.

I needed that 4K/24p frame rate. The 4K video is decent. Less noise than in stills. I’ve noticed shooting in 4K crop mode, it’s noticeably sharper. This is due to non-crop 4K actually shooting 3. 2K, but giving your files UHD dimensions.

Cropped 4K is true 3840×2160. It’s only overheated in this mode once, so it’s not as bad as 4K HQ or 8K on the R5. Cons: Low light performance. It’s not good. At all. I only have 2 lenses; the aforementioned 70-300 f/4-5.

6 IS USM, and the iconic Sigma 18-35mm f/1. 8. As sharp as both lenses are, the ridiculously high megapixel count doesn’t collect light well at all. This means it’s VERY hit-and-miss for concert photography.

For me, this is a big setback because I shoot aviation in my spare time, and play metal shows regularly where lighting isn’t the greatest. Even with a fast 1. 8 lens wide open, a shutter speed of 1/125th isn’t fast enough to freeze headbanging action, and the ISO left on auto can go up to its maximum of 25,600, making otherwise great shots unusably noisy.

Turning down the shadows for more darkness and less noise only goes so far. Since it’s a DSLR, a 20mm f/1. 4 lens can’t be speedboosted to f/1. 0. Leaving a lot to be desired. I think Canon should’ve swapped megapixel count on the 6D MkII for this, as it’d be more than the 80D, but the photosites would have more space to collect light.

Overall, the build quality is solid, the menu and screen are fast, easy to navigate, and look great. The video is decent. Good enough for a C cam with the right lighting and lens. The 32. 5MP resolution is great with a sharp lens, and has definitely come in handy when cropping on images when I’m unable to swap lenses, but the low light performance in RAW is terrible.

You can’t beat the laws of physics with a smaller sensor. It’s a nice balance between ‘better than entry level’ and ‘enthusiast wildlife photographer’. I don’t regret my upgrade decision.

First off, I’ve been using Nikon cameras for almost 30 years. So please consider that if you are looking for a more “comparative” review. The nearest competitor I use is the Sony A6000, a completely different ballgame.

That said, it means I’ve been through the FM, FM2, F2, F3, F100, D50, AND D200, and currently use the 3500 as well as a D7500. The 3500 is wonderfully lightweight and compact Dslr, with outstanding image quality, compact format factor, exceptionally good lenses (10-20, 18-55, 70-300; all af-p’s and a 35/1.

8 and 85/1. 8 af-s), and incredibly good battery life. I don’t hesitate to use it on jobs. There is not a single complaint I can levy against this camera. I only shoot stills and don’t “chimp” (I’m a film guy), and it never has let me down.

I’m in manual mode 100% of the time, restrict auto ISO to 6400 and bang away. I’ve never had a camera stand out of my way so willingly and get such repeatable results. I use a few non-ai lenses so I love the absence of the ai tab on other, more expensive Nikons, so huge bonus there.

All of the above can be echoed for the D7500, and use both regularly. Highly recommended.

So far so good! I’m a complete novice when it comes to DSLRs. In the age of the smartphone, I never really had the chance to have an interest in standalone cameras. I received this camera for my birthday and have been having a lot of fun taking pictures and messing around in manual mode.

The presets are good and intuitive, and there’s even a guide setting that helps to get you the pictures you want to take. The camera feels solid in my hand, and comes with a nice strap to hang around the neck and shoulders.

I love that you can connect the camera to your phone via Bluetooth and send pictures so that you can quickly upload them to social media. The battery life is good – I’ve only charged it once since taking it out of the box and have been using the camera for about an hour or so everyday for a week, plus I’ve forgotten to turn it off on at least one night.

I took one star off because there is no way to attach a microphone, which I feel is a basic function that a camera of this caliber should have. As of now, I’ve only been taking pictures of my kids and inanimate objects.

My husband bought me this camera for my birthday. I have owned it for over two years, and it has always been my go-to camera! I literally bring it everywhere to take pictures and make memories. We are avid travelers, and I have taken it all the way from Hawaii to Florida.

I have made dozens of photo books, and have taken my children’s senior photos, wedding photos, new baby photos, and so many vacation photos. The camera is easy to use, easy to transport and easy to clean.

I take it to the beach a lot, so it sometimes gets a little salt water condensation on the lens. However, I use specially made lens cleaner for my camera and a soft, microfiber cloth, and everything looks like new.

The quality of the pictures is always crisp and clean. I have won awards for some of my photographs using this camera. One thing that I would suggest is to purchase an attachable lens cover.

I’ve owned this camera for about a week, and so far it’s great. I’m only a photography hobbyist, and this is great for my current capabilities and understanding of photography. I’ve used it on a couple of photo walks with folks around my neighborhood, and it’s very light/portable.

It’s the perfect size to put in one of those Patagonia Atom sling bags to keep at the ready. The battery lasts a long time and charges quickly. I’ve kept it in manual mode the whole time I’ve had it, and being able to change the ISO on the fly is a completely new concept for me, as I’ve only shot film until owning this camera.

Being able to change the ISO, the shutter speed, and the aperture all with the same dial is a very handy feature. Before I figured out how to do that, I was changing all those settings on the touch-screen like a scrub.

The screen is great, and it’s very easy to move into different positions. The screen even automatically turns off when you bring the camera up to your face so you don’t accidentally change any settings with your nose.

The menus are also very straightforward. The camera ships with Japanese as the default language, but in spite of that, I was able to find my way to the ‘change default language’ and switch it to english.

The lens it ships with is great too. It’s good for shooting up-close subjects, but you’ll need something bigger for subjects further away. Overall, it’s a good amateur-level camera. I haven’t truly put it through its paces yet, but I’m looking forward to it.

My aging Nikon D5200 has a lot of shutter actuations, an increase in hot pixels, and a cracked but functional LCD screen. I was ready to go mirrorless, but I could not find something that would match up with an all-in-one lens.

I would have liked to continue using a Tamron 18-400, but I was open to a mirrorless compatible lens if it could offer a similar range of coverage. I did not, so I looked at Nikon’s SLRs. Weight has become important to me; the D5600 was the lightest.

Similarities with the body and menus to the D5200 were also a plus. My prior lenses remained usable. Having opted for the D5600, I found that almost none were in stock. It is now labeled an older product.

Nikon may have discontinued its manufacture. Bodies alone were not available, so I took a gamble with a kit lens and body combo. The gamble is that there is no manufacturer warrantee, only a limited warrantee by the seller, because the products were not produced for our region.

I got a shock when I turned on the camera; the menus were in Asian pictographs. I did find one line that was in Roman letters -Language. Once I selected that and English I was ready to continue my set-up.

The D5600 works, and is compatible with my lenses. However the New Nikkor 18-55 lens is not reverse compatible with my D5200. When the 18-55 is put on the D5200, the message Lens not attached appears.

I note the my ML-L3 infrared remote does not work on the newer D5600. I did buy a corded remote instead. So far the gamble has worked. I may go mirrorless and or full frame later, but for now I can wait for the right all-in-one zooms to develop.

If I find any other issues with the D5600, I’ll update this review.

I did a lot of research before choosing the Nikon D5600. I just wanted a new hobby and decided to take up photography. I even upgraded my cell phone to support the camera. I don’t have any problems using the Snapbridge although the WiFi sometimes takes few minutes to connect.

It seems to have an easier time hooking up when I am away from the network at my house. Every photo I have snapped is instantly on my phone and my Nikon Image Space account. I like the way the D5600 feels in my hand.

I adore the articulated touch screen. That feature alone is the reason I chose this camera over the D3500. The controls on the camera work well with me. This might be because I am not comparing the camera with any other camera.

The included 18-55 AF-P VR kit lens seems to be of a really nice lens. I am saving up for my next lens. The AF-S 35mm f/1. 8. I have read the reviews. I am really liking my new hobby because I chose a great camera to start with.

The only things about the kit that I am not thrilled about are camera strap and the white piece of plastic rear lens cap. Those two issues have already been remedied. The flash on the D5600 is very nice.

It gets used often because the kit lens relies on it because it is not a low light lens. Pictures turn out great! I am impressed by the image quality of camera and lens combo and how instantly it focuses.

I bought David Busch’s “Nikon D5600 Guide to DLSR Photography” which brought up to speed really quickly, as none of photos I have taken were done in full “AUTO” mode. All in all I am beyond thrilled with my Nikon D5600 and Adorama’s service.

Camera, lenses, battery, etc. , all arrived safely, and on time, in a very nice case. First time I have used any camera rental service, and I’m glad I choose Lenrentals. I had heard good things about them and now I see why.

I rented a Nikon D5600 and three lenses to see if a small, older DSLR would be a good fit for me. The camera takes great pictures, but I decided it wasn’t what I wanted. So I figure I spent a little money to save me from a more expensive wrong decision, plus I enjoyed playing with the camera for a few days.

Also, if I had wanted to purchase the camera, they offered me a deal to keep the camera and one of the lenses at a price that included a partial discount of the rental fee. (It would have been a good deal if I had wanted to get the D5600.

) The rental process is explained well and they provide all of the supplies you’ll need to pack the items for return. Very easy process. Also, if you’re nervous about damaging your rental items, they offer insurance at a reasonable price.

Amazing product! I’ve have had it for 2years now and it’s still in great condition. The quality of video and pictures taken with this camera is perfect for a beginners camera. I like how clear the video and pictures are when played back.

The sound quality is also very clear and easy to detect voices. I use this camera to vlog and film my YouTube videos. I also like the screen camera tilt. You can flip it up and out. It makes filming easier when you are shooting in an awkward angle so the tilt of the camera screen helps you navigate where to center your shot.

However, one thing that I dislike is the camera focus. I wish it detected and could go in focus quicker when zooming in on a close up shot. It takes a few seconds before you see a clear shot. Lately my camera has been randomly going in and out of focus while filming a straight forward shot.

Not sure of the reason why. To fix it, I would have to turn the camera off then back on to fix and re-focus it. Overall, for the price and quality of the G7X. I would definitely recommend getting this camera as a starter.

This camera is great. Yes, it’s a bit of an older model but, the thing is that the picture quality is still fantastic and I love the fact that I can make adjustments to some things like brightness/shutter while also using some of the auto settings.

I am not a photographer by profession but do need to take pics and video on a regular basis for my business, and this makes that a lot easier. The flip-up screen is also super helpful. The bundle is also excellent because the tripod works great and you also get a memory card and an extra battery! It’s an awesome value! The Mark III is the newer model but, you’re really only going to notice a big difference if you’re doing a lot of livestreaming or stuff where you need to connect a good mic.

I do most things in post, so I was more concerned about pic and video quality only. If you’re thinking about getting this camera, just get the bundle. Don’t try to skimp and save $70. This is totally worth it!.

It’s all the most useful functions of a DSLR in something that you’ll use for settings where you never use a DSLR. The lens range is excellent, the image stabilizer is useful, the controls are familiar and fantastic if you’re already a user of a Canon DSLR.

I have a 6D for my usual camera, but I like this because I bring it places and take pictures with it that I just don’t get with the 6D. In all fairness I’ve only gotten to use it a few times due to COVID which is a shame.

Its portability gives it a near-zero footprint on your body (I bought a tiny lowepro case for it) but it takes pictures like a DSLR, and its unassuming size makes it excellent for candid situations. I used it for a nerd convention in january, where I would usually bring a DSLR and leave it in my hotel room the entire time because I don’t feel like lugging it, but that wasn’t the case here.

I took more pictures than I’ve ever taken at such an event, and got pictures that I never took with a DSLR or cell phone in the same kinds of environments. The sensor is a bit noisy, but that doesn’t bother me.

Dynamic range is excellent well into the high ISOs, with highlights looking bright and organic. The range of the aperture and focal lengths are superb, though I probably used it the most at the fully-wide 24mm-equivalent end.

The built in lens profiling is fantastic, no geometric distortion that stuck out to me at any focal length. Controls are great, I used it on manual with auto ISO, and used the exposure comp dial to compensate for dynamic situations.

It’s the best example of a camera for candid, non-studio, organic settings, and I think any DSLR user would find themselves saying many of the same things. You just use it for things that a DSLR won’t do as gracefully.

Battery life is pretty good from full, but the meter does seem to fall much faster from halfway to zero than it does from full to halfway. Being able to charge via microusb is useful (especially if you have a usb powerbank) but for some reason you can’t shoot while it’s charging, so keep that in mind.

Battery life is probably the only real caveat overall, though if you’re prepared for that it isn’t hard to keep up with at all, and I wouldn’t trade that for its size and usability.

I wanted a second camera from my primary D3400 for two reasons: 1) as a backup and 2) so I could keep a zoom lens attached and at the ready to ensure I don’t miss a moment when the opportunity presents itself if I were to have to change lenses.

I chose the D3300 because it is less expensive than the other Nikons that are fully functional with the AF-P lenses. Having the D3400 as my primary camera means I have no learning curve with this one, and the price on the used market for this that is fully compatible with my D3400 accessories is wonderful.

It takes great photos and is easy to use. This would make a great primary camera as well, in fact I probably would have ended up with this as my primary camera had I been on the market for it when I shopping and ended up with the D3400 – it just was no longer on the market at that time and I was brand new to photography and wanted a brand new camera.

Knowing what I know now, and for the purpose that I have explained for buying this, I am thrilled to have bought this on the used market. I’ve used it as my primary camera in the month since purchasing just to run it through its paces and it functions as well as my D3400.

I purchased the D3300 new and in order to downsize from a heavier, larger DSLR. Big mistake. I tried several Nikkor digital AF lenses on the D3300 (35mm f1. 8G, 24-120mm f4 DX, 18-140mm, 50mm f1. 8D, as well as the included 18-55mm kit lens), and the same two issues were prevalent regardless of which lens was used: 1) overexposure and 2) lack of sharpness.

I like to take landscapes, cityscapes, floral and still-life subjects, so I tested each lens from full sun to shadow and at various times of day. I also used the D3300’s program, auto, shutter-priority and aperture-priority functions.

The D3300 consistently over-exposed, and sharpness was an issue in most instances. Not surprisingly, sharpness was easier to achieve (but still unacceptable) at smaller apertures for brightly-lit subjects.

Even at smaller apertures, I needed to use two-thirds or more of the D3300’s onboard exposure control to compensate, which is too much, in my judgment. In several emails with Nikon customer support (with camera still under warranty, of course) I was assured such exposure adjustment was not unreasonable.

No repair or adjustment was offered, so I sold the entire outfit and went in another direction. While I fully realize the D3300 was entry level for DSLR, I expected Nikon to offer a more usable anddependable product.

I have experience in full-frame, APS-C (Canon and Fuji), and micro four-thirds, as well as 35mm and medium format film for over forty years. If you’re considering the Nikon entry level DSLR, you may be better off with a good quality point-and-shoot — even a Nikon.

Exact same image processor and sensor as the D3400 but I am able to use the D3300 with my D3400 kit lenses and I have the ability to use an intervalometer for astrophotography unlike the D3400. The image quality of the D3300 is gonna be the same as the D3400.

If I had known Nikon took away all ability to use an intervalometer on the D3400. I would have just bought the D3300 instead and saved myself some money!! But so far the D3300 has performed well! No issues at all! Everything functions properly! If your are thinking of buying a D3400 hundred, depending on your intended use, I would recommend the D3300 instead.

Not too much difference between the 2, but the D3300 gives you the ability to use accessories such as a microphone and intervalometer. The D3400 does not offer this!! The D3400 does offer a bit more settings which you may or may not find useful and has extremely high ISO settings, so high that in my opinion, I have no idea what you would use an insanely high 25000 + ISO setting for in any real world application!! Maybe that is just due to my lack of knowledge on this matter!! But if your looking for versatility in an entry level DSLR and looking into Nikon, I would steer more towards the D3300 for its ease of use, full manual control and settings, and it’s versatility vs the D3400!!! The Canon 90D is the latest iteration of Canon’s x0D series of APS-C cameras. Sadly, it may also be the last as Canon announced that they are discontinuing D-SLR types of cameras in December 2019, going all out on mirror-less cameras.

Still, there is a lot going for this camera, especially if you are an owner of previous Canon D-SLRs. * The resolution has jumped from 24 to 32 MP. * You can record 4K video uncropped * battery life has jumped to 1800 shots on a single charge * The dual-pixel auto-focus is still there.

* Burst rate has increased to 10fps * You can record 1080P at up to 120 fps (but with no auto-focus) * Still retains the great articulating screen But all is not perfect. * Auto-focus is a bit inconsistent on action shots * 4K video is a tad soft * There is still only one SD card slot * No flat profile in video mode Canon still has superb colors, better than Sony and Nikon.

The body is weather resistant and has some heft. Bigger than the Rebel line of cameras, it has a more comfortable feel. The menu interface is far better than Sony or Nikon. The optical viewfinder is very good, larger than the Rebel cameras but not as good as Canon’s pro models.

Due to the pandemic, the 90D can be hard to find due to supply shortages. Canon normally discounts the cameras after a couple of years but short supplies has delayed or eliminated that. What is more of a problem is the availability of spare batteries.

,, It is nearly impossible to find, Mirror-less cameras in the same price range have a lot of shortcomings. The biggest is battery life, lasting only 250 shots. With the battery shortages, this severely cramps the number of shots you can take in a day.

Also, their comparable lens have lower f-stops which limits your shots in the dark. If you are buying your first camera, you should lean to this type of camera as they are the future.

It’s okay…I previously had a Canon 77d and went to this because I heard it was a better camera but my 90d caused me all kinds of headaches. I couldn’t use my 100mm macro L lens with it, even after the firmware updates.

I heard of other people having the same issue but silly me bought the camera anyways. My macro lens worked perfectly with my 77d so it wasn’t user error…. there was always some kind of focal miss when I used my macro lens with this body.

It was my most used lens with my 77d and the continuous issues when I paired that lens with this body is what made me sell my 90d and move to a completely different camera system. When I paired this with my 24mm efs, it was amazing.

The camera really shined with that lens. I had about 5 different cannon lenses (2 L series, 1 efs and rest regular) and 1 sigma 18-35m and the quality of images I got out of most of my lenses was better with my older 77d camera than they are with this new one.

Maybe I just had a bad body, but there was always some kind of focusing issue when I paired it with certain lenses. If your new, or maybe just a causal photographer who doesn’t want to invest in a lot of gear, this camera will pair up great with a 24mm Efs pancake or the 50mm 1,8 and you’ll get a lot of good photos of the kids or backyard flowers and stuff but if you know your going to be serious and invest in quality glass, I would just skip this body all together and either go with the previous 80d or jump into their new mirrorless line and just skip this body all together.

This was a steal at the price, and the perfect next Nikon for me. I have always been an avid photographer, but never had the cash to commit to great cameras. This camera has been extensively reviewed on Youtube and tech websites, so I did my research before buying.

If you are looking for an entry-level camera body with a FANTASTIC autofocusing kit lens (it has a smooth manual-focus override ring), with multiple modes, Bluetooth transfer capability (albeit slow) to devices, Wifi connection, and a Live View LCD screen mode, look no further.

Nikon delivers the perfect frame every time, and always has. The color reproduction is phenomenal. The detail and clarity of sharp images is outstanding. If I had a reason to buy this camera twice, I would.

Instead, I am going to spring for the 1. 8 aperture 35 mm lens to give myself better low light pics. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THOUGH — THIS CAMERA TOOK SPECTACULAR PICS AT TWILIGHT, AND EVEN SOME AT NIGHT.

After many years with a Canon EOS 450, I finally got round to upgrading to something more current. Still a few years since launch, this camera is night and day to the Canon. Gone are the compact flash cards, limited ISO options and low res lcd screen.

Replaced instead with a more standard SD card slot, a host of options, filters, modes and a bright menu and live image viewer on the LCD screen (which also has the option for a live view). The feature set is rich with possibilities and allows for even a complete beginner to take incredible shots.

The depth of field and focus settings are simple and the image processing chip makes even tricky shots look professional. This pack, which includes the additional zoom lens, is an absolute steal for the price and unless you are a professional photographer or have need of a mirrorless camera, it will do everything you need and more (did I mention HD video capture?) Absolutely brilliant camera, I would recommend to anyone looking for their first DSLR or thinking of upgrading from an aging entry level item.

I am on my second 77D after rethinking my priorities and usage details. I bought the first one to replace a T7i, finding the rear control wheel and the AF ON button to make a large improvement. I have owned and used larger and smaller cameras, but this 77D is my goldilocks “just right” camera for ergonomics.

The menu and controls suit me very nicely. The images suit my needs very well, and I like the 1080p HD video just fine. I especially like the digital stabilization which gives me good results with hand held footage when coupled with an IS lens.

I love the small, lightweight lens choices that provide great results for modest cost. I currently own and use a Canon R6 and regard it very highly also. I love the electronic viewfinder and ibis. I prefer the smaller size and weight of the 77D, and feel that my perfect camera would be a 77D with the EVF and ibis added.

That camera, if available, would also need a similar lens lineup as the 77D enjoys. I purchased a Fujifilm X-S10 thinking and hoping it would be my perfect camera since it is relatively small, lightweight, and includes the ibis, EVF, and fully articulating screen that I prefer.

That camera has great image quality, and all the features I want. but. it just didn’t feel as nice to use. The shape and feel of the body is not as pleasant for me, and the menu and controls are not nearly as nice.

If I didn’t have the R6 I would probably have kept the X-S10 because it really makes nice pictures and has the ibis and EVF. The image quality with the X-S10 is a little better than the 77D, with quite a bit of improvement in high ISO capability.

The 77D is good enough and such a joy to use. By the way, I used the X-S10 for almost a year before selling it and purchasing the R6 as my main shooter. I have also enjoyed using Panasonic M43 cameras (G5, G6, G85) and really enjoy the ergonomics of those gems, but the image quality isn’t quite as nice as the Canon and Fuji APSC sensors.

Lovevery easy to use. We take photos at local farms for county newsletter. We were hesitant at first since it was a older canon, but after reading reviews, discovered that it was rated as one of the best.

Then while we were out trying this camera we ran into a professional photographer who showed us his many cameras and this was one of them. I included some of our beginner photos, but Im positive as we progress and get more comfortable with our selves photos will improve.

These are not bad for what our intended use is and on the first try.

I owned a Sony RX-10 Mk1 for quite a few years and it was a reasonably good all rounder. However I found it a just bit lacking in the image quality department especially at the telephoto end and autofocusing was a bit slow.

I surmise that the later versions of this camera would be improved but are pricey and lacked a touchscreen which is a must for me as I found them very productive in terms of user experience. I then looked at other fixed lens cameras bridge cameras with 1″ sensors and touch screens like the Lumix FZ2500 but found that though they are good allrounders but are compromised by the long zoom lens and to a certain degree by the smaller sensors compared to DSLRs.

I also used to own Nikon DSLRs but found them a bit heavy to lug around and live view focussing not too good which was why I bought the Sony RX-10 in the first place. After learning that there is a new generation of more compact and lighter DSLRs (comparable in bulk to the bridge cameras with 1″ sensors), I decided to give them a try.

I was about to buy the Nikon D5600 when I chanced on some publicity on this camera on the internet. The main point that attracted me to this camera was the new “Dual Pixel” sensor with purported fast/accurate autofocusing in live view hence suitable for video work.

Still early days and still learning to use all its features but so far I found the autofocusing to be spot on and images and very good (to my amateur standards). I also went shopping for some lenses to compliment this camera.

As I prefer zoom lenses I so far purchased 4 lenses with the following purposes in mind:- (1) EF-S 18-135mm IS STM – this lens has a stepper motor which is super quiet when focusing and hence good for videos.

Also the zoom range is excellent for general purpose walk around still and video work and not too large as to degrade performance. Not a fast lens but has IS which will help in low light situations but I mainly envisage using it outdoors or well lit interiors.

I also tried the newer version of this lens with Nano USM for faster autofocusing but found it not as sharp as my copy of the STM version so I returned it. Also bought the Canon PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter for this lens for video work.

(2) EF 70-300 IS USM II – this is the newest version of Canon’s telephoto lens and is excellent and sharp all round with fast and quiet focusing. Use for nature and sports photography. (3) EFS 17-55 f/2.

8 IS USM – for better quality photography or indoor or low light photography. Also good for situations where I want a blurred background (bokeh) eg. portraits. (4) EFS 10-18mm IS – for wide angle work – landscapes, architecture (buildings exterior or interiors with limited distances for longer lenses) THE GOOD:- Light weight & compact Dual Pixel sensor ( IMHO a game changer for Canon cameras which is not widely publicised) Touch screen Bluetooth connection (low power usage) Articulated screen AF button ( Many features trickled down from more expensive models like DiGic 7 processor THE BAD:- No headphone socket No 4K video – not a deal breaker for me as HD is ok for me now.

No micro adjustment for autofocusing No panorama photos Only 60 fps video “slow motion”.

This is a great camera. I purchased it for my microscope, without the lens. The USB connection to the computer brings up the live view easily, and saves the shots automatically. The image on its screen is better than what I see on the computer.

I made the adapter to the microscope and have the shutter controlled by another computer through the external shutter wire to do time lapse photography. The camera is still new to me but everything seems great.

I will start by saying. i am NOT a professional, but i have always loved photography, and had wanted a nice camera for a while, and after months of comparing different models, decided on this one since it came with a little better lens and more features than other similar models.

I LOVE this camera! i recently took a couple of photography classes and have really been able to get some great shots since i’ve learned how to change the settings to achieve different results. If you’re a beginner and just want a good camera to shoot in an auto mode, i probably wouldn’t spend the $$ on this particular model, as it is quite pricey, but i knew i wanted to at least make a solid hobby out of it, so opted for this one.

If you’re looking for a really good hobby/amateur camera that you could also get professional shots with. this is a GREAT option!.

I was disappointed that the 18-55 lens – the workhorse lens in my mind – seems very plastic-y. I was expecting a quality closer to my old Canon AE-1 lens. I also really dislike that the focus ring is on the very end of the lens, and the ring is very slim making it awkward to use, especially if you’re trying to move quickly.

I fully expect to end up with pics at some point that have my finger in them. The 75-300 lens seems to be a better quality and the focus ring is beefier. The body is all plastic but seems like it might hold up.

Disappointed that you have to download the full manual instead of it being included since it has all the info you’ll need if you’re not wanting to just point and shoot. (Why would I buy this package if that’s all I wanted to do?) The bag is a good quality and fits this combo of body, lenses, and battery perfectly.

Also like that a nice camera strap is included. Haven’t taken many pics with it yet because I had to stop and go download the full manual, but they seem ok so far. I wish the f-stops were manual and not on a menu though – again for speed.

Also wish turning the flash off wasn’t a choice on the dial since that means you can’t use any other setting on the dial at the same time, but maybe somewhere in the manual it tells how to do that. I’m very happy that the door for the battery and memory card isn’t spring loaded.

That part broke on my point and shoot camera rendering the whole thing useless (at times even despite the duct tape).

Pros: Overall a great little camera for your holidays. Curry’s should make it very clear that this is no professional tool, least a beginner is confused; but it’s definitely a great bargain considering the two lenses, and I strongly advise it to detox from out addiction to phone cameras.

You will not believe how much gets compressed and lost when you use your phone compared to something like this. The camera is obviously extremely fragile, and the mirrors are exposed every time you change lenses: watch out for dust or abrupt bumps! Cons: I would have preferred to find a USB cable in the package so that one can download pictures straight away.

Instead, all you get is the naked machine and the lenses. Living far from any shop, it meant waiting for a week before one reached me via post. Some consideration for us rurals, please! The SD card was also a problem: not only there is none included in the bundle (again, thanks for not alerting the buyer – I had to order one and wait for days), but you will not find anywhere any specification about which card format is compatible with the camera.

For someone city-based, it means taking the camera to a shop, and enlist the help of an expert to find the right card; for someone in the countryside like me, it meant hours of web forums and spec charts until I could work out whether it was a mini, a 0.

I have had this camera approx 1 week I had bought it especially for taking pictures on holiday in Santorini. I practised using it at home for a couple of family pics that are very clear. I have older cameras which are so much better for zooming but I treated my self to a more modern camera.

I was so looking forward to taking photos in Santorini of the beautiful sunset and this camera disappointed me. It was on full zoom, the sun was really close and large and the pictures were shocking, the sun looked like a pin prick and not very clear.

My friends mobile phone took better pictures than the camera. Im afraid i will have to send it back. The camera its self is very easy to use, very close up photos are good, the quality of the camera seems good but im afaid the zoom was pathetic.

I played about with the settings according to the manual but failed miserably to get a picture of the great sunset for these reasons Im giving the camera an average score.

Having had experience, in my younger days, of manual SLRs I thought Id give photography another go and maybe try harder this time at being creative. I did a few days research before deciding to give the Canon EOS 2000D a try.

It appeared to have all the features, I thought, I needed at a reasonable price and I knew Canon usually turned out a solid piece of kit. So far, Ive not been disappointed. The build quality is very good and its one of those ergonomic designs you just cant stop looking at.

That may sound weird to some but, when Ive just purchased something Im going to be using for few years, I want to enjoy handling it as much as creating some nice images. This Model is regularly described as Entry Level and a Good starting point for DSLRs frankly, I disagree.

Yes you can start to point and shoot straight out of the box but this piece of Kit can definitely grow with you to the point where I, personally, dont really see myself venturing far beyond. Just a couple of tips before you buy.

1. Do research which Canon models have an Image Stabilizing lensIS as standard. Youd be surprised at the number of shops who fail to make this clear in listings. You may end up spending more than you need if you dont do this.

2. Do invest in The Dummies guide which you can also purchase on Amazon. The Camera only comes with the bare minimum of setup details and there is no way you will fully understand all the buttons, setup screens and huge amount of features without sitting down with this guide/manual and taking the voyage of discovery at your own pace.

What’s good about this camera: simple, fairly lightweight, and takes good images. The sports setting does a very good job of taking multiple images, fairly quickly. What’s poor about this camera: the macro feature is adequate, but not excellent.

My little point-and-shoot Panasonic does far better. The range of the zoom with the basic lens is quite limited. What I don’t know: I have not used other lenses with this unit, and will be looking for user feedback before making that investment.

I bought this camera based on user reviews to replace a series of Panasonic DMC cameras. I love these little point-and-shoot units, and they are fantastic for fieldwork, easily tucked in a pocket, good images, etc.

However, I was very tired of the lens protection mechanism jamming up after seemingly no time at all. Despite the larger size of this unit, I wanted to try a digital SLR. (I’ve had many film SLR cameras, so this is not a new area, but I haven’t gone there with digital until now.

) The camera is compact, but I do find it larger and bulkier than I am used to; in this regard, I am not finding it useful in the field, but it takes good images in its limited range. I suspect that to get decent macro images, I am going to have to purchase a specific macro lens, but will be looking for something with a decent depth of field before I outlay any more cash.

Overall, I think this is a good beginner camera. I am no professional photographer, but I do find it disappointing in regards to some of the features I had hoped for. In particular, despite the image postings by a few camera users, it is not a great camera for taking macro shots.

Pros: Great photos, easy to use and a great package for the price. Lenses often cost over $150 each and you get 2 as part of this package for not much more! For most users (unless you plan of blowing up your photos to gigantic size) you don’t need more than 18M (heck you don’t need more than 10-12 MP).

This camera is pretty easy to use right out of the box, and you won’t be disappointed by the quality of the photos! For the T5 (the T6 is currently out) you will save a ton of $ and won’t miss much from the T6 (MP are pretty similar as is the feature set of the camera).

Cons: Doesn’t have all the feature of more expensive cameras, but the average new to mid use user will not miss these features. Sometimes can lag a bit when taking action continuous photos, but the lag is not too bad and the average user won’t be crippled by this.

Other thoughts: I have heard many people state that this is an entry level camera, I would argue more of a mid-range camera. While you won’t find the features of a total programmable camera, for the majority of casual to intermediate users this will do just fine.

The picture quality is stunning, and the feature set is not much different than the T6 (which) you would pay north of $800 for with both lenses, the case and printer! Save your money and don’t buy the T6, buy this instead at a very good savings and use the extra money on something else!.

Nikon D3300 was my first DSLR. Which is a very good camera. I have been very happy with it but I wanted to upgrade. After a lot of research I decided on the D7500. I was also looking at the Z50 and D500.

I’m retired, and at this stage of my life I didn’t feel the need to switch to mirrorless. As for the D500, it looks like a great camera but I couldn’t justify the cost. Like I said I’m retired, this is a relatively new hobby for me (5 years).

Hope to do some travel, shoot some wildlife and landscapes. So far the D7500 has exceeded all of my expectations. The auto focus is excellent, very fast and quiet. It is also better in low light, ability to shoot at higher ISOs is better than the D3300.

I’m still in the learning process, many more options to learn and settings to try. For me the D7500 is a great choice for the money spent, and IMO a big upgrade. The pics were shot with a Tamron 100-400.
