Best Drugstore Pencil Eyeliner That Won’T Smudge (2026 Updated)

I have so many black eyeliner pencils, I forgot I bought this one. I don’t think I used it except playing around in lockdown Flash forward to a few weeks ago, my disorganized self rediscovered it in my cache of makeup and wore it out to a memorial.

It it didn’t budge through tears and a very long day. I have dry eye and allergies which causes my eyes to tear up often at inopportune times like when I’m trying to look cute. So I gave it a whirl out to dinner and just a whole day at home, same perfect wear.

I loved it so much I picked up two more when I had a coupon to my neighborhood drugstore. I’m sold. It twists up, which usually is not a style of eyeliner I like, but I like this one. One end has a smudger that flips over to a sharpener.

The smudger is great of you want to get any spots missed by lashes or to smoke out. Definitely do it right after you put it on. Removal one definitely needs something oil based, I use a balm. And it takes a lot.

If you want an eyeliner you can snooze in and wake up looking hot, this is it. I am definitely curious about the other colors.

Winged eyes are my every day look, and I’ve gone through so many different brands and types of eyeliners. I’ve purchased both cheap and expensive, as well as pencils, gels, and liquids. I’ve used different sized applicators ranging from tiny, wispy brushes to super thick felt tips, and dealt with terrible pigmentation and durability issues.

I can honestly say that Revlon’s Colorstay Liquid Liner is the best of all categories when trying to create the most perfect wing! I typically don’t apply liquid liner on my water line so I would only recommend using on the lid.

I can apply this early in the morning, spend an entire day at work, and my liner lasts until I take it off at night. It loses very slight pigmentation, but not enough to need complete reapplication before heading back out for the night! One of the few downsides to the durability is that, if you make any mistakes when applying, you’ll need makeup remover to correct.

My skin type is normal/dry, and I’ve had minor irritation on the outer corner of my eye while the product is drying (I typically have that problem with most makeup, though. ) The formula is fairly wet to begin with, so I may not recommend to beginners, and a little goes a long way.

I’ve consistently repurchased this product and will continue to do so!.

I was looking for a blue/teal retractable eyeliner and this one is almost perfect!! It lasts all day and doesn’t smudge unless i rub really hard. It def makes brown eyes pop! The reason it looses a star however is it doesn’t go on as well, on the waterline.

But if that’s not an issue for you, than this is perfect! I sometimes wear it right on the tightline, do winged liner, and you can even do graphic liner. For mostly whatever, this is perfect! I am going to keep buying for sure!.

I’ll be honest. I wish that NYX had made all of their newer epic liner pencils in this format. These retractable eye liner pencils are just so convenient and make application so easy that I want them in more colors.

Not to mention they’re incredibly affordable, the pigmentation is no joke and they apply like a dream. With all of this praise, what’s the caveat? Just that if worn along the lower lashes and one has oily, watery or under eye skin which tends to heavily fold/crease when laughing/smiling then these will smudge.

To be fair, no one said they were smudge-proof sooo. that was on me.

NOT ONE! TRUST ME, I HAVE TRIED WHEN I THOUGHT THIS WAS UNAVAILABLE. I bought 10 of them today when I first found the product again. This is the BEST eye LINER known to man. This doesn’t run or smear, not even after swimming!! Please don’t EVER stop making this unbeatable eye liner.

This has always been my favorite eyeliner-eyebrow pencil for over a decade! It is a soft pencil (as oppose to a hard pencil that one would have to burn with a lighter to make it soft!) It’s hard to find eyeliner pencils in general, especially the soft ones! But luckily, this Covergirl eyeliner with a blend-tip has always been one of their best selling make-up products! I just hope they never discontinue their “Brownish Black” color pencil!.

I’ve been using this product for two weeks and I really like it. The formula is very creamy so it applies super smoothly and it’s easy to blend. It does not tug or pull (no future eye wrinkles, yay!!), it doesn’t smudge (biggest nice surprise for me!) and it doesn’t clump.

The formula is extremely pigmented and it also has a bit of glitter in it, which was a nice surprise since I didn’t expect that. Additional bonus, it’s so easy to apply it, it’s so affordable and the mechanism is retractable.

The only negative for me is that it doesn’t last. If you want it to last longer than few hours, you need to put primer on your eyes. I’m a fan of this product and will definitely buy it again! #tävling.

I love these colors and the way they work. My favorite is white eyeliner. I apply it on my water line and then brown under. It is pretty hard to discover an eyeliner that works in the waterline. This does.

It lasts all day with one application, making touch-ups a thing of the past. It’s nice and thick, which means this will last forever. I also usually wear a small dab of white shadow in the inner corners of my eyes – that trick further helps make the eyes look wide, bright, and alert.

This doubles for that purpose of cutting down on the amount of junk I have to buy and carry. I also don’t have to worry about this falling apart in my makeup bag, like eye shadows can when you travel or aren’t real gentle with your purse.

Had to Google how to sharpen it, though. It looks like it should twist up, but it doesn’t. It has to be sharpened. Plastic coating over wood so it sharpens well. You do have to get the right size sharpener, though.

These are economical and awesome. These are absolutely a must have in your makeup kit.

eyes. Having been in a very abusive relationship for many years I was told on a day basis I had the ugliest eyes, they were small Beaty looking ,and I needed to fix them. So trying to please him without hesitation I reached for maybelline eyeliner in hopes of making them look beautiful.

Thankfully Maybellines unstoppable mechanical pencil eyeliner glided on silky smooth and lasts throughout the day. The dark brown espresso color is perfect for my hazel eyes, Right away I could tell a big difference.

It’s priced well below what other expensive brands are and actually does it’s job. For me maybelline will always be my a part of my life’s daily makeup routine. Unlike my Ex-husband ! It’s been 15 yrs 3 since I was able to get away from him little did he know by telling me to use make up he was boosting my confidence and helped me become a stronger more independent women who has raised our 3 children alone ! Thanks maybelline for all the confidence your makeup helped me see that I have !.

My experience of using Maybelline products were good and that’s the main reason I like to buy more of it. I am not very fond of makeups which is the reason of me not giving a 5 star but still whenever I use a minimal amount I mostly use Maybelline colossal eyeliners.

It’s very smooth and gives a prominent look to eyes which is very catchy and attractive. Also describes one’s personality. I really loved using it and am still a fan of Maybelline products.

I love using a black eyeliner to accentuate my lower lash line to make my face look more lively without having to put on a ton of make-up. I use the Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner in Onyx religiously.

It is long lasting (stays on all day) yet wipes off easily at the end of the day when I’m ready for bed. I also like that the tip is thick enough to give sort of a smoldering effect, rather than being very pointy and drawing defined thin lines.

Amazing eyeliner! Love the deep point, so easy to glide on a perfectly wide or narrow line. Feels, wears, smudges, applies, and looks like kohl. Works above and below lashline and on waterline. Good on brows, too.

This eyeliner is GREAT! It is a dense and dark eyeliner that packs a punch for such a super fine liner. Like the title/name of the eyeliner suggests, it is a “no-slip” liner. It glides on effortlessly, however because it is so fine.

I think I was just too heavy-handed with it and had pushed out too much liner. The product itself is fantastic. This liner is probably not for someone who likes a smokey eye, but more of a natural look, because you’re only going to get a thin, subtle line with this liner.

It smudges out beautifully though. This would also be perfect for lining your water line.

I have been using the Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner pencil for years. It glides on easily, stays on all day, and doesn’t run. I love not having to sharpen this pencil. I would have given five stars, but I do not care for the smudging tool.

It falls off when used and doesn’t blend well. However, I love the blending tool of CoverGirl’s Perfect Blend pencil. With both of these products, I get the look I want. If CoverGirl people are reading this, they could actually come up with one perfect eyeliner by combining the Perfect Point with the Perfect Blend smudging tool.

Love how this was called the perfect point liner while the end of the eyeliner was not pointed at all. I do like that the other end comes with a smudge/blending tool. It wasn’t really all that important for it to be pointed, because this type of eyeliner I use for my waterline anyway.

However for trial use, I used it for both. I found that after aprox. one hour it was in fact under my eye and I had to do the ‘tear wipe’ motion to clean my under eyes. The top lid was not pigmented as much and also not set in place like other liners I would have used.

(I want to point out I prepped my face like usual if I were to use any other makeup and used setting spray to finish) After about 5 hours there appeared to be no more eyeliner on my water line. I few ‘tear wipes’ later and the top line looked like I had an all nighter at a friends house.

Retailing for about $5 I remember why I haven’t hit the covergirl aisle in sometime. It reminds me of my old high school makeup I used to use and now that I’m using more quality makeup, covergirl just isn’t for me anymore.

This is a simple product that saves the environment a bit – it has a smudge tip built in on one side. Once you line your eye, you use the other side, a soft dense spongelike material to smudge the line a bit – works perfectly.

I even use it for my other eyeliner products. Great idea the eyeliner works well – doesn’t seem to last as long as a liquid, but has a different look, so it’s whatever look you are going for. I have purchased more than once.

Better than stila, for sure. First, it is actually waterproof. It’s fairly durable, I’ve gone several hours wearing this with no issues. It does not smudge or bleed. Great if you line your waterline.

If you’re new to using liquid liner, you may need a little practice with the tip (it’s not as easy as a liquid pen), but honestly it’s fairly easy to use. The tip is thin and sturdy enough for good precision in my opinion.

The only issue is if you apply more than a few layers, the lines crack. It’s not a big deal though. Definitely my favorite eyeliner at this point in time!.

This liner is so underrated. Essence makes a lot of good long lasting eyeliners, but I am allergic to most of them. This one is hypoallergenic and will last 8 hours on my watery eyes. And when it fades, it does so gracefully–no raccoon eyes, just kind of smokey.

The brown one is a very pigmented dark brown (almost black brown). The black one is also very pigmented. I wouldn’t go near the midnight one unless you want glitter in your eyes–and trust me, you don’t!.

The only downsides are, yes, it has to be sharpened, and it is hard to maintain a thinner tip because of the creamy formula. It’s a solid liner that has outperformed many high-end liners for me. If you have sensitive eyes, it’s one of your best bets!.

I prefer eye liner pencils that need to be sharpened with a sharpener since I can control the sharpness and the liner doesn’t seem to break as easily. My go to eyeliner pencil brand was around $20. When the brand I was buying discontinued the item I was using, I tried several other brands in that same price point.

All of them didn’t last and left me with black circles under my eyes. Then I discovered Essence Extreme Lasting. Wow, this is the best eye liner I have ever used! It sharpens easily, glides on smoothly and lasts until I take it off.

The black midnight sky color is a beautiful color with just a touch of sparkle. I can’t believe I can get all of this for such a low price!.
