A drinking water filter for well water is a device that is used to remove impurities from water before it is consumed. There are many different types of drinking water filters available on the market, and each one is designed to remove specific impurities from water.
The most common type of drinking water filter is a carbon filter, which is designed to remove chlorine, lead, and other contaminants from water.

The build quality is cheap and the design is not intelligent. The filters should go in from the top to reduce the chance of leaking. The first housing I received would leak from the bottom where the filters go in.
I’m skeptical of how long the seals will last in the replacement I received and if after changing the filters a few times whether the same leaks will start occuring. Time will tell. Also rather than using clear siphon tubes, the system should use harder plastic (e.
g. polyethylene food grade BPA free LDPE) that’s more difficult to puncture. That would probably increase the cost by a few cents but increase longevity of the tubes by years. Also the sticker which has the serial number on it should be water proof plastic and not made out of paper.
Otherwise, the water quality is excellent, it’s on par with what came from a $800 countertop filter requiring yearly $200 filters I just replaced. Even if I have to replace the filters every 6 months this will be far cheaper.
This countertop filter is rated for 450 gallons and they advise to change the filter once every six months. In a household of one person, if we generously estimate a use of four gallons per day for drinking and cooking, the filter should last about 16 weeks.
I live in San Francisco, California and my tap water is municipal water (not from a well). The water quality in general is pretty good but it smells of chlorine and hence I prefer to filter my tap water.
I run cold water from the kitchen faucet for 15 minutes every morning before diverting the water through the filter and I only run cold water through the water filter per the instructions. This water filter works well – for the first three or four weeks.
The water flow quickly diminishes and by six weeks the filtered water literally comes out in drops. It takes over five minutes to fill just one measuring cup of filtered water, making the filter impractical to use.
When I called Aquasana’s customer service, three different product support representatives said that changing the hose would solve the slow water flow problem. I paid $4. 99 for the shipping fee to have a new hose sent to me.
Changing the hose, however, did absolutely nothing to resolve the water flow problem. Furthermore the spout that screws on to the faucet drips, so you have to position the vessel you are filling with filtered water carefully if you do not want unfiltered water to drip inside.
There is also leakage from the main faucet to the filtered water spigot no matter how tightly it is screwed in. The quality of the metal piece that attaches to the faucet is not good and it seems like it was cheaply made with poor quality materials.
I am very disappointed by the performance of this water filter and their customer support. I really wish they would make a countertop water filter that lasts at least three or four months. If I have to change the filters every four weeks, even if I have a Water for Life subscription, the cost, including sales tax, will come out to over $700 a year or almost $60 per month for only one person using the filter.
I bought this because of high reviews I read online. I like the unit, 2 filters, the water goes to the filter and then comes back to the faucet unlike the common cylinder ones that the water comes out of the unit.
Joined the “Water For Life” program so I was getting replacements twice a year at $60 a pop. Fine, bit pricey but I like it. Problem is the unit itself would leak every few months and the faucet diverter would stop working properly within a week.
Apparently Water For Life is also a guarantee covering such things. 1st time it happened they sent me a new inside piece of the unit that houses the filters, simple swap out and I don’t remember them charging me shipping, I could be wrong.
That leak was small so waiting 2+ weeks for it to arrive wasn’t that big a deal. Several weeks ago it started leaking again, this time from one of the filter covers, Luckily I saved the old filter covers from the previous leak and that fixed it.
Today I was using it and something popped and water was pouring everywhere. Looking inside and the filter housing it self was leaking from a seam at the top. Fella on the phone said thats covered, I can have a repelcemnt in 2 weeks for $8 or 2 days for $30.
Says this never happens. Its happened to me twice now within 18 months. After a bit of back and forth I cancelled my Water For Like subscription and went back to my old unit that takes the standard 10″ filter.
If you are wondering about the faucet diverter not working properly, after 2 replacements I just stopped dealing with it and used it broken.
The RCC7AK 6-stage RO system takes the reverse osmosis process one step further by remineralizing the water and neutralizing the pH. The system’s alkaline filter contains half red mineral stone and half calcite, giving it the ability to produce bottled-quality mineral water.
The main body of the system measures 18 x 14. 5 x 5. 25 inches and the holding tank measures 16 x 11 inches, allowing both the system and tank to fit nicely in most under-sink cabinets. Included with the system is a lead-free solid brass body faucet with a brushed nickel finish.
The faucet is typically mounted on the counter as the main output source for the RO water, but output lines can also be connected to your refrigerator output, ice maker, and coffee maker. The installation is streamlined and DIY for most users, with written, video, and tech support assistance.
Replacement filters are standard sized and sold at factory direct pricing. The system comes with a 1-year money back guarantee, 1-year limited warran.
The Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System delivers the best drinking water available for optimal hydration. NSF Certified to remove over 95% of fluoride, over 97% of arsenic, chlorine and chloramines, and over 99% of lead, asbestos, and more. A one year remineralizer is included with every system to provide healthy amounts of calcium, magnesium and potassium for optimally alkaline, pH balanced drinking water.
Honestly, this has been a nightmare for my husband and I. Install is painful. Three weeks of trying to adjust and still struggling with leaks. Flow is a huge problem. Takes forever to fill one cup and water runs out quickly.
It also changes the flow of your regular faucet. Overall, if I could redo, I wouldn’t purchase. It’s a headache. Also, customer service is a pain. Not responsive. Sending water filter replacements on day one incorrectly and then on top of that sending to the wrong address.
I don’t know if there are better ROs out there or if they are all a headache. I will be returning and purchasing a Berkey filter.
Lady in our church asked for help in fixing leaking water filtration system. this system. She is blind so she thought that the leak was coming from the 2nd stage membrane cartridge. Turns out it was the spigot for this system and the water was wicking down.
Very difficult to reinstall the spigot because of limited access. There is a nut one tightens against a white cylindrical plastic piece which applies pressure to a metal washer to clamp the spigot in place.
You’re going to need a 9/16 socket driver with a deep socket & a really long extension to tighten the nut. The problem is, when tightening the nut, the white plastic piece kept kicking out. This is a real pain when working in a confined space with limited access.
Horrible design. This RO system is one of the most complex systems I’ve seen for undersink filtration. Lines everywhere, including a drainline. I guess that’s the nature of an RO system compared to a much simpler absorptive system.
Anytime you change a cartridge you have to run water through the system for 24 hours. how wasteful.
Delivering the convenience of sleek design coupled with powerful triple-filtration technology, the Brondell H2O+ Cypress Countertop Water Filtration System eliminates wastewater, storage tanks and complex installation.
The system installs in under 10 minutes with the provided diverter and fits 99% of home faucets. Alternatively, you can install the water connection under your sink with an available T-valve (sold separately).
In about the same time and ease as changing a light bulb, you can enjoy continuous, refreshing filtered water at the push of a button. The system utilizes three separate advanced water filters, dramatically reducing industrial chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, turbidity, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microorganisms, bad tastes and odours.
It also reduces harmful chemicals like atrazine, chlorobenzene, trihalomethanes, methoxychlor, endrin, 2,4-D, benzine, DBCP and aesthetic chlorine, promoting a healthier home and family.

Get healthy, clean, great-tasting water from every tap in your home by removing up to 97% of the chlorine in regular tap water and reducing harmful water contaminants such as pesticides, herbicides, rust, silt, sediment, water soluble metals and industrial solvents for 5 years or 500,000 gallons with the premium rhino whole house filter.
Plus, effective scale prevention for the entire house without the use of chemicals or salt. Our dual tank SimplySoft salt-free descaler is designed to hook up seamlessly with your whole house water filter system.
Protect your home appliances and Plumbing by reducing the adverse effects of excess iron and scale. Be free of scale, stains and spots on faucets, shower heads and glassware. Never lug around heavy bags of Salt again.
Unlike traditional salt-based softeners, SimplySoft does not require salt, electricity or drainage for wastewater. More than just a softener, Aquasana SimplySoft uses innovative Scale Control Media (SCM) technology to naturally condition your water without the use of added sodium.
SCM technology alters the structure of the hard minerals into a crystal structure that prevents the minerals from binding and forming scale build-up and is proven to reduce scale. Unlike salt-based water softeners, Aquasana SimplySoft SCM technology will not demineralize your water nor will it negatively affect the environment by adding excessive amounts of sodium into our communal water system.
Universal water filter for multiple applications. High capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) filter. Conservatively rated for up to 1000 gallons or 1-Year usage. Reduces chlorine taste & odor sediment dirt and rust.
Great for refrigerators ice makers and as final “polishing” filter in some Watts RO filtrations systems.
Enjoy fresh, great tasting pH+ mineral water right at home that is perfect for drinking, cooking and making delicious coffee, tea and ice. RO-PH90 guaranteed to remove up to 99% of harmful water contaminants such as chlorine, taste, odor, VOCs, as well as toxic fluoride, arsenic, lead, nitrates, heavy metals, and much more.
Save money, time, and hassle from buying costly bottled water, and live healthier with alkalized, calcium mineral drinking water. APEC Top Tier RO-PH90’s mineral cartridge adds only 100% US-made high-purity calcium carbonate to effectively raise pH in the water for those who desire alkaline water.
Other re-mineralization RO systems will claim to add various beneficial minerals back into the water; however, their mineral formulations are often from unknown and uncertified sources that can lead to potential health concern.
Built on top of RO-90, the 6 stage RO-PH90 is put through the same rigorous quality control process and offers the same contaminant rejection rating. At 90 GPD, the included DOW FILMTEC membrane provides fastest production rate for a large family who prefers the highest quality water possible.
Based in the U. S. with 2 decades of experience in RO design and production, APEC Water is committed in producing top performing systems that provides trouble-free, high quality drinking water for many years to come.
This saved my family relationship. It has given us safedrinking water without the hassles of bottled water. The installation was straightforward and extremely easy. The size of the unit is bulky but fits nicely inside our 36″ base with enough room for the waste basket.
The taste of the water is very good. To the point that regular tap water now seems off.
The WGB32BM whole house filtration system is an ideal “point of entry” filtration system for cleaning up well water. Unlike “point of use” systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB32BM filters your water from the source.
This means water from every output in your home will have passed through the three filtration stages of the WGB32BM. The stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters.
The second stage houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block.
This means they are more effective in removing their targeted contaminants. The carbon block filter knocks out bad tastes and odors, removes up to 99% of chlorine from the water. The third stage has an iron and manganese reducing filter.
The FM25B iron and manganese reducing filter is only included with the WGB32BM, as it is not needed for most municipal water supplies that the WGB32B targets.

The tankless design frees the system from secondary pollution and saves 50% space. – The integrated water circuit helps avoid leakage. The 1:1 drain ratio is more economical and environmentally friendly.
The smart and lead-free faucet has an indicator of water quality and filter service life.
Well, when I saw that their instructions said it would be a 30 minute install, I was skeptical. and, indeed, to carefully do the install took almost 2 hours. Granted, a small part of that was taking apart the older canister based RO system; however, it was easily 90 minutes to just install the Waterdrop.
That being said, the install went smoothly as their instructions were very straightforward and all items in the box were clearly marked, making things happen smoothly. Having read ahead in the instructions, I saw that the system does a 30 minute run through the RO faucet after a 5 minute start-up ‘flush’ prior to being useable so I had my bucket ready to catch the water and take it out to my desert landscaping so as not to waste all that water.
I checked things out for several hours and all was working fine with no leaks at all and was pleased with ALL OF THE EXTRA ROOM I now had under my kitchen sink, not to mention that the filter changes, a PIA on the old system, will be easy-peasy, too! The water? After the initial start-up, I tested the water and discovered it was very close to the Waterdrop’s score of a TDS of 25.
this starting with tap water that was well over 450 and the taste was poor! My wife and I are quite happy with the results as the older RO system (4 different filters and a tank) was never that low. The flow out of the RO faucet is not too strong (e.
g. : doesn’t splash out) but more than needed to quickly fill a glass or cup. The only negative we could see was one we knew going in, having had an RO system before, is that the RO water tastes ‘flat’ unless you add a mineral cartridge back into the filtered water to give it more taste.
After looking at the cost of adding the mineral carts into the mix, it just adds complexity and cost, and we are fine with the ‘flat’ flavor over the taste of the water straight out of the tap. Also, make sure that before you buy you have an active plug under the sink and not just a switched plug like the one used for a garbage disposal (I had to add an extension tap onto the plug-in for the dishwasher, which worked just fine for me).
Hopefully, this system will provide us years of service and I look forward to the easier, frustration free, filter changes.
I got the G2 tankless water filter. Excellent water filter. The ppm reading for my tap water was around 438. After installing the filter it reads 50-60 ppm and the water tastes great. It was easy to install and does not alot of space under the sink.
They also have excellent customer service. I had some concerns after I received the filter. They were resolved in a swift manner to my satisfaction. Still have to see whether the filters last for the lifetime advertised on them.
Many modifications are required which may call for sawing your copper pipes and welding in order to fit their “feed water adapter,” which I was told MUST be used. Their assistance with installation was horrible.
It was indiscernible if the woman was talking out loud to herself, which she did consistently, or if she was speaking to me! I was always ignored, I would be explaining a problem or asking for clarity then silence.
then she returns talking about a totally unrelated subject. I had to keep saying her name and then ask if she was listening! Finally, she said she was going for her break and would call me back with some answers as regards my install.
I waited and eventually got an email saying I should just return it because there were so many modifications. Now if I keep the Waterdrop G3 and hire a plumber and an electrician to make the modifications I am concerned about future problems that may arise.
Will I get dismissive emails saying I should return it? One of the highlights of this machine was their advertised help with installation and problem-solving. Now, I am reconsidering my rationale for buying this and if customers’ concerns are easily dealt with by sending an email suggesting I return it.
It’s frustrating. I already removed my old GE reverse osmosis and looked forward to this new one. I am so disappointed.
Advanced Technology-Removes up to 99% of contaminants, including arsenic, chlorine, lead, fluoride, mercury, cadmium, heavy metals and 1000+ contaminantsers down to 0. 0001 micronrience fresher healthier baby formula, tea and coffee, better tasting foods and crystal clearer ice cubes, great tasting even better than most bottled water Premium quality components ensure highest reliability and low maintenance for many years to come.
All tube, quick push fittings, storage tank,Ro membrane is NSF certificated,to provide healthy and pure water.
This system was easy to install, no leaks, and reduced my water’s tds from 150 ppm to 4 ppm, so I am happy with it. It comes with Teflon tape, which was a nice touch. It was very thin, so I did 10 wraps on every thread fitting.
It only comes with one osmosis filter. There is room for confusion when connecting the faucet and tank lines, as the protective end caps on the filter look like 1/4 inch fittings. But just remove them and then the 3/8 lines will fit.
during installation i found the o ring for the RO membrane damaged when i opened it for installation. The drain connector is stripped not allowing for proper connection. in addition the unit does not come with a supply line to connect the RO assembly to the water supply.
the fawcett physical installation to the counter top instructions are vague.
High quality water and enough for all our needs. Assembly is pretty easy. I will wait to see if it stays water tight, or if it leaks, before I decide if it is worth recommending. But the quality is good over all, and the bigger line to the spigot gives good flow rate.
So far the water filter system is good. Water tasted good and I am more comfortable drinking tap water or using it in cooking now, since recently there’s been a lot of water main issues in our surrounding towns and even some boil water alert.
Having a filter under the sink puts me at ease a bit. The reason I rated it 4 stars is due to 2 reasons. First, cold water pressure is taking a hit, it’s just how it works. So now even with just turn the water a little bit towards the hot side, it gets hot a lot faster than before.
I need to warn my son to be very careful using the kitchen sink faucet because of this. Second, after you don’t use the faucet for a few hours (or overnight), the initial water comes out in foam and frizzes, kind of like the frizzes from a can of soda.
I’ve contacted Clearly Filtered, they said it is normal, but it’s just a little weird. I’ve had the filter for quite a few weeks now, it still caught me by surprise sometimes. That said, I think it’s still a very solid choice to filter water.
So far, magnificent! The ‘cloudy water’ at first was a little disturbing, given that the water to the house had to be turned off to trick out the under-sink. I’m on a well, and water turned brown on returning from ‘off.
‘ Even though the filtered water was NEVER brown — the bubbles made it cloudy and had me concerned, until I read the instructions you sent with the filter system. All good. Explanations are invaluable to people who never read the directions — and probably to those who do.
We have trusted Clearly Filtered pitchers for years for our son away at college. Having the ability to get filtered water from a faucet makes filling water bottles, coffee machines, cooking water, and so on a breeze.
Installation was as easy as any installation under a sink could possibly be. It took longer to get all the junk out from under the sink and back in than it took to do the installation. The slight decrease in pressure because of the filtration was noted in the installation instructions and is not bothersome.
Ideal for hookup to hot water dispenser or drinking water spout. In our case we hooked up to a prep sink so as not to waste filtered water in the main sink. Our city water is highly mineralized and at certain times of year tastes and smells quite earthy.
The Clearly Filtered completely eliminates this condition. Very pleased with our purchase and highly recommended.
Open-Box — The US Aqua Platinum Series 6-stage alkaline reverse osmosis system with a booster pump is the healthiest and most versatile home water filtration system on the market. This system will take water with no existing pressure and pump it through 6-stages of purification resulting not only the cleanest but also the healthiest drinking water that’s perfect for cooking, brewing coffee or tea and producing crystal clear ice.
The 5-stage Alkaline and minerlization filter utilizes bio ceramic media, tourmaline, calcite, maifan and ORP balls to naturally increase the healthy minerals your body needs such as calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, copper and selenium while boosting antioxidants and transforming the waters alkalinity.
The booster pump installed on this system addresses the issue of low water pressure many people experience when living off of well water. This system has a low pressure switch regulates the incoming water pressure of the system and enables the booster pump when necessary so that your system is consistently running at it’s most optimal performance.
This keeps waste water low and rejection rates high. This 5-stage water filter for home use contains three pre-filters, one sediment filter and two HydrCoil Technology carbon filters formed from an ultra fine carbon mist forced through high pressure injection.
These filters are produced with the finest and most resilient carbon media on the market. This process provides up to 50X betters absorption rate over standard carbon media and a longer filter life span.
After the pre-filters the refined water is processed by the TFC reverse osmosis membrane where the remaining dissolved solids such as salts are removed.
Excellent job preassembling. This eliminates most confusion! Not sure if this is on all your products. Is that why the instructions to assemble parts that are already assembled? The pre-carbon filter has two different ends.
No information which end goes! Unless I missed it. Each fitting should have the blue retaining clips. One short. Had to buy a bag of fifty pc’s. It would have been great if the protective UV tube was installed and sealed.
1/4″ tubing lines could be longer for more flexibility when changing the filters. The discharge has a 300 flow arrow valve that sounds like air is leaking air. (N0 water issue!) This system has a booster pump.
Should create a partial drawing where the lines connect. The customer needs to understand that the tube needs to go past the O-ring inside. Don’t need any leaks. Drop the price the cost of the chrome faucet.
This will give the customer the option buying the faucet they prefer including me. Give the customer the option of other places to put part of the unit under the sink or nothing at all. Closet, crawl space or basement.
They would need to buy extra tubing. The drain line needs to be pitched when there is no pressure booster. I put ours in the basement with plenty room to install and change the filters. Thanks for letting me put in some input! Nice system Stephen Prom Wisconsin.
This was the first time I had purchased this kind of system and the first time installing it. The installation manual was confusing because some of the steps were already completed. I had to skip a few steps to get to my starting point.
I suggest you also watch the video installation provided via the QR code. I did have two leaks. One at the top of the tank because I didn’t tighten the flow switch. And the second was the washer for the UV filter, which needed to be placed over the glass.
Overall, I would highly recommend this system. If you can read and outstand a manual, then you should be able to install it, but it will probably take you all day.
The Pelican Water Systems PC1000 Premium 15 GPM Whole House Carbon Water Filter System for Homes With 4-6 Bathrooms is a deluxe, high-capacity, virtually maintenance-free system that is easily installed in any home and has a 1,000,000/5-year capacity.
Imagine spring-like water through every faucet of your home. Drink, bathe and shower in sparkling clean water with no more dry itchy skin or unpleasant odors from chemicals. The large diameter of the PC1000 Premium Whole House Carbon Water Filter System tank holds a significant amount of water filtration carbon media, increasing the overall performance and lifespan, and the replacement cost is a fraction of the cost of similar items.
When it comes time to replace the filter, all you need to do is to replace the media inside the tank, with no plumbing required and no need to replace the entire tank. The Pelican Water Systems PC1000 Premium 15 GPM Whole House Carbon Water Filter System also incorporates Bacterial Static Media to inhibit bacterial growth.
Easy installation (inside or outside) with no electricity required.
I like the concept, however I disliked a few of the components. One of the plastic snap rings broke, and the plastic on the male threads for the bypass valve were of low quality. I realize the filter is relatively inexpensive but would expect more durable components to make a smoother install.
Thankfully I prefabbed the bypass piping the day before my install, had I broke and damaged parts day of I would have lost money on the job. I will say customer service was good and they got me replacement parts next day.
One more thing I did not notice a pressure release on the sediment filter. That being said the customer is very happy with the water quality provided by the filter. One other thing I would recommend is better literature for these units I did not realize the bypass valve did not come with 90 degree fittings so I had to use the straights.
All in all after installing this I would likely install this unit again per the application.

I purchased this unit as part of the Black Friday promotion. The only issue with the purchase is that both online and over the phone with customer service I was unable to use my Apple Card. I missed out on quite a few rewards dollars due to this.
Regarding the unit, the instructions to soak, flush and reset the carbon media were straight forward. I performed this process in my garage and a bonus in purchasing the self install kit is that you can utilize one of the hoses opposite of the hose bib to direct the water into your utility sink (if you have one).
I had read other reviews asking for another hose bib but this is a nice work around. I allowed the PC1000 to soak for around 10 days. I mounted and assembled the system in a mechanical room that was approximately 50 feet from my water main.
Due to this fact, I hired a plumber to run copper 50 feet to the mechanical room and 50 feet back to the water main. They built a really nice bypass at the unit as well as at the main. The bypass at the main is the same one featured in the This Old House episode where Richard installs a standalone PC600 (I think it looked smaller than the PC1000 that is included in the PSE2000 that I purchased).
After the water was connected, there was a small leak at the neck of the PC1000. We hand tightened and after observation no issues. After completing the Nature Soft soak/flush, there was no milky white water observed.
Also, maybe due to the length of the soak, I didn’t notice any gray or black water once the unit was put in service. As others have stated, it may take some time to notice the conditioned or softer water but I noticed right away that the water felt different in my hands just watching soap.
I kept a fair amount of the water prior to install (due to the plumber having the water off) and comparing taste pre and post there was a difference. I will continue observation as it was literally just hooked up a few hours ago.
The main driver of our purchase was so many sinks in our house and only being able to drink or get coffee water from one of them. The secondary driver was the scale buildup we noticed and wanting to try and mitigate that without a salt system.
I just filled my water bottle up from the basement bar sink and the water tastes as good as it did from the fridge filter before.
We purchased the PSE2000. Upon inspection and doing some research we realized that the installation kit was the way to go because otherwise we would be piece mealing together a bunch of smaller pieces and it would look like hack job with lots of potentially leaking joints.
So, first lesson. get the install kit. finished project looks so much sleeker and neater that what we would have cobbled together and so much easier to join the tanks. We put the 2 tall tanks on one wall and the sediment filter on the adjoining wall so we had to get an elbow for the corner that was also a reducer.
we found this at Lowes online so there was a week delay waiting for that part. The brass reducer adapter that joined the inch sediment filter threads to the house pex supply pipe kept leaking so we had to re-do with more tape and pipe dope.
now it is watertight. Prior to purchasing this home we knew we wanted a catalytic system because all the faucets were all encased in mineral deposits and the glass vessel sinks were constantly covered in white sediment that had to be scrubbed off with CLR bathroom cleaner.
Now. it is a whole new world. no encrustation on the faucets, there is minimal mineral deposition on the glass sinks and what is there just wipes right off. Bar soap and shampoo lather right up in the shower and rinses clean in no time.
much less mineral deposition on the dishes and glassware as well. We spent a large chunk of money on this system at it is worth every penny. Being environmentally conscious people we are so happy to not be using salt and electricity.

I’m not on city water but instead am on a well so a good filtration system is a must. This unit pleasantly surprised me with ease of installation, use, low sound level, low waste water flushes, and quality of filtered water.
There are a few things that most people, including myself didn’t know about installing one of these systems previously. 1. Prefilter – If you’re on a well like I am, you should add a decent prefilter before this unit to trap the larger particles to prevent clogging up the filter early.
2. UV light treatment – Should be considered to kill any bacteria or viruses present in the water. I think this is a necessity even if on city water. 3. Remineralization cartridge – Needed because reverse osmosis systems take out pretty much 100% of the minerals in the water, leaving you water without any of the minerals you need.
This process also leaves the water acidic as a result. A remineralization cartridge restores an alkaline property to the water and restores the taste. The best way I can describe the taste of acidic water is “sterile”.
These items above added about $200 to the initial installation cost as a DIYer, with the UV treatment being the most expensive at about $130. Filtered water tastes very good and the savings adds up quickly.
In my household of two with pets we were going through 2-3 gallons of bottled water a day which used to cost about $0. 70 a gallon, after Covid inflation we were seeing about $1. 20 a gallon for bottled water, along with hassle of hauling water bottles and jugs into the house.
This unit will pay for itself in less than a year and even the somewhat expensive yearly replacement filter cartridge at $100 and remineralization filter at $30 will pay for themselves quickly if you’re currently buying bottled.
water. I’m very happy with this purchase and would recommend this unit for it’s compactness and quality of filtered water.
I wanted a tank-less RO water filtration system because I don’t have enough room for a tank. This device is small enough for my need! Its filter is also a 5-stage all-in-one filter that is easy to change.
Installation is super easy. Only thing to remind you is that it requires electricity to work. The outlet I used was for garbage disposer which will shut off when I switch it off. I ended up pulling a power cable over.
The best of all, customer service is super quick. I reached out to them over walmart. com “reach out to seller” link. I sent the message at night; the support resolved my concern in the very morning next day! To walmart.
com, the “reach out to seller” link under the order details is not working. The API call it uses missed the “Reason” field. I had to use the generic “reach out to seller” link under product list and append my order number in it.
Water flow is not good. It takes 5+ seconds for water to start. 6-8 second glass fill rate advertising is fraud. TDS in water is not consistent. It varies from 5 to 100+ Ppm, shown by the water drop faucet itself.
100 ppm water doesn’t taste great and I have to often throw it out.

Individuals requiring water of certain microbiological purity should consult their physician.
Reviews From Real Customers
I have been hesitant to get a faucet filter because of how they look. When I saw this one from PUR, I really liked the modern look. All of my appliances are stainless steel and this filter compliments it wonderfully.
The filter comes with three faucet adapters so it should fit most faucets. It likely won’t fit a faucet that doubles as a sprayer, though. The water will flow like normal until you pull down on a small lever on the right side.
After flipping this down, the water is redirected to filter. I can’t really taste a difference with the filtered water but enjoy the piece of mind. The TDS (total dissolved solids) in my municipal water is very high so I wanted an additional filter to remove most of that.
I bought this filter as I have done many other types. My conclusion has been that these are worse for the environment than they help. Once these degrade or break, they are not recycleable. They cannot be recycled as plastic or metal, so to the landfill they go.
The filters you have to buy don’t do much to help the environment either. Sorry to say I don’t have a solution, but if someone does please share. This particular faucet filter eventually eroded from my hardwater.
There were holes from the faucet attachment where non filtered water spewed out. There was residue of calcified white stuff around the rectangular part of the filter. Not sure the solution, but this is not it to lowering the use of plastic when the filters are non-recycleable too.
Convenient, does the job, easy to service, but has two problems. One is a minor annoyance: the “filter indicator” light may not reset when you put in a new filter. When you remove the old filter, a little plastic tab in a slot inside the filter compartment is supposed to pop up, but it can get stuck in the slot.
The tab is about 1/2 inch wide and 1/16 inch thick, and it’s at the same end of the filter compartment as the plastic fitting that engages the outlet at the end of the filter. Look in with a flashlight and you’ll see.
It’s easy to free up the tab–gently press the tip of a blunt table knife against it and try to wiggle the tab back and forth a time or two, and let the knife slip off the tab, and the tab will pop up.
Easy to get the hang of it; works for me. The more serious problem is that water pressure that is too high can damage the body of the filter, causing leaks. Our pressure is sometimes higher than 100 PSI, way too high.
My crude workaround is to turn the valve on the filter just far enough that only some water flows through the filter, while most is pouring out of the faucet. This reduces the pressure that the filter itself sees.
Takes some practice to get the hang of it, but has has prolonged the life of the unit for more than a year. But be careful–just one exposure to high pressure lasting a few seconds is enough to make it leak, and when that happens, you’re sunk.
Why don’t I just get a plumber to install a water pressure reducer/regulator? That’s a different story.
