Absolutely love this new Philips bit I got from Milwaukee. I do general contracting for a living and put this little guy to the test right away. Rebuilding a deck over the weekend, this bit took the abuse of my impact driver on the max setting to both drive out the old screws and drive in new ones.
Several full days of almost non-stop use and the bit showed zero signs of wear. In the past I have had issues with the teeth of the bit chipping off when it would lose contact with the screw and spin a bit.
Not an issue with this, a few small bumps and release of the trigger, reset the bit into the screw and continue working. No chips or chunks of metal missing, not even any small bends. I was a bit skeptical of the size of the neck on this bit.
I never used one with such a skinny neck on it and I honestly expected it to snap off with any large amount of torque applied. To my surprise, it never cracked or broke. While in use, I couldn’t actively see it flexing but it handled every bit of torque my impact threw at it.
The hex rear end on it is the standard on most bits and will fit any impact driver on the market today. The fit was true to size and fit perfectly in both my Milwaukee and DeWalt impacts. Locked in just fine as well.
I gotta say, I’m very impressed with the quality of Milwaukee tools these days and this bit lives up to that name. Small but strong. Would definitely be a highly recommended addition to the tool set for anyone needing something that can handle daily use and abuse.
Went to work straight away in reverse removing over 100 3. 5″ self tappers to tear down 2 rooms while saving the lumber. Every single screw was stripped, because I was the one who installed them about 5 years ago with an off-brand china bit and the only one I had available at the time.
I didn’t think they were ever coming back out, so I purposely STRIPPE most of them because that was the only way to drive them all the way home. Lol boy I was wrong. This bit ripped & gripped right into what lit was left of the heads and literally never jumped or took any damage to the bit itself while backing them all out.
Keeping in mind that I was using this at full speed on my brand new m18 fuel impact driver, and some of these screws were going long ways into the pressure treated trusses up above and were completely stripped from attempting to get the old bit from the original install to drive them all the way home, which it never once was actually able to do so I just drove them as far as I could before they completely stripped out.
I didn’t need to get out my extractor set or even so much as a pair of pliers ONE SINGLE TIME. Lol I’m thoroughly impressed to say the least. My Dewalt ph2 was even jumping around on impact and couldn’t grab onto those ones in the trusses to back them out at all.
it’s a like the edges of these milwaukee bits are razor sharp and just bite into anything you point them at. On another note – I have a new favorite company now. Milwaukee made me a believer by including 1 tiny little bit in my new driver that I otherwise would have never purchased over a Dewalt bit set.
Milwaukee not only scored a new customer for their Shockwave line by including 1 little $0. 10 cent bit, but they also scored huge points on a personal leve because I’ve literally never seen such a low-cost marketing technique be effective at all.
much less THIS effective at converting into actual sales. Never once before in my entire life. I’m not only shocked at how good this bit was and am going to purchase more today, but right after I hit submit button I’m going to begin liquidating my holdings in stanley black & decker & TTI.
Seriously. This company’s won me over completely with this one little 10 cent bit. Kind of insane when you think about the thousands just from my own pocket that marketing strategy could translate into over the coming years starting with my first $500 purchase last night that came with this cheap little bit.
followed by a return purchase today before home depot closes because I’ll be buying the biggest Shockwave bit kit they have in stock to test every single one and see if the entire kit is filled with as much pure “good factor” as this single PH2 bit has in it.
The fit is what did it for me, so I hope the kit doesn’t dissapoint. Also, I never take the time to write reviews, because when I get going whether good or bad it’s hard to stop me lol but I literally gave the time out of my life to write this review out of pure 100% satisfaction with this company as a first time retail customer who was honestly pretty upset that I nearly went broke to get this 2-tool combo kit out of curiousity and had a mindset of, “Even with it being on sale for $100 off.
it’s still more expensive than the Dewalt XR hammer drill & Impact driver set and the stuff isn’t even made in America. More expensive for what? Because I’m a simpleton who wanted the few extra RPM’s and torque numbers on the box and can’t resist buying the best tools available whenever it’s time for a new purchase.
plus I just really liked the red ones on display for some reason this time. because I’m a traitor. Whatever, I can go return them tmm. and get the yellow ones that I’m used to for half the price if that tiny bit of extra power really isn’t really worth it”.
All I did so far was remove some stripped screws with this kit, which I could’ve gotten done with a 10 year old NiCad black & decker drill from a garage sale lol so in reality I have no idea about the tiny bit of extra power I originally paid the premium for and have yet to test it.
Yet, I already can see that I won’t ever be returning this kit and went from that mindset of “buyers remorse” to 100% pure satisfaction with my purchase from the second or 3rd screw that came out without jumping at all, and once I had a pile of them and realized it had only been 5 minutes, I immidiately went from the mindset of possibly returning the kit – to instant gratification.
I now feel better about this single purchase than literally any other major ($500+ is major to me) purchase I’ve made in the past 5 years now that the baby task for this kit is finished for a whole list of reasons, but the absolute KEY to my extreme change of heart was the ph2 bit that I would have never purchased as long as Dewalt ph2’s are available, and it’s 100% responsible for unlocking the hidden value behind the milwaukee brand price tags.
Everything milwaukee has ever offered is still way over-priced in my extreme penny pinching opinion, so don’t get me wrong there. But this ph2 bit immidiately showed me the reason why people are willing to pay it.
Quality. The value included in my $500 (still over priced) purchase became clearer and clearer with every stripped screw it just bit right into, and the satisfaction that I got from using it. I see the hidden value milwaukee’s premium (still overpriced idc) pricetag carries behind it as clear as day now after this 1 little ultra-light duty task.
The bit unlocked the door for ME – (The cheapest person with unrealistically high standards & expectations, who’s down right the most critical person I’ve ever known) – to open up my narrow, penny pinching mind to see a whole new view of the entire company.
*A company that is still extremely over priced for anything they offer since none of it is made in the USA, because idc. I even feel the same way about Dewalt too though lol. To sum this all up – A++ milwaukee, top notch quality will always translate to top notch product and return customers.
So I sincerely look forward to winning the lottery to be able to afford a tool collection that’s ALL MILWAUKEE RED to pass down to my kids in the future. and also looking forward to being so impressed with every future purchase that I actually feel the NEED to give you guy’s more than just my money, and put the word out by volunteering my extremely valuable TIME to write crazy long, in depth & detailed reviews on how it changed my life forever like this one.
My entire tool collection needs to be red now and this simple ph2 bit had alot to do with winning me over. I hope every purchase is so good that I need to hop on here and tell the world about it. Lol Keep it up Milwaukee tools! I really appreciate the quality here over anything.
That’s what I paid for this time. And I’m not even mad that I’m broke because of it at all anymore! Lol Sincerely, Mike – The FORMER traitorous fastener head stripper & Brand new, permanent convert from team yellow to team red.
I am a commercial carpenter for 29 years and installing fasteners is an everyday task. From metal framing to drywall, and plywood to ACM panels the #1 connecting components requires a Philips bit. The SHOCKWAVE is well build for impact driver use with longevity as far a shear goes.
The tip shoulder is taper properly to allow the fasteners to fit tight which reduces wobble and wandering during installation. The slim compact design is great for certain situations when the areas are tight.
All and all a solid bit that can run screws all day if you don’t round it out the bits shoulder. This is its only weakness in my opinion, especially when using an M18 Fuel impact driver at full force on the clutch.
If the bit slips a few time I am changing bits to prevent strip out on the fastener a little more often. As I stated before I run a lot of metal to metal connection, so I always make sure I have an extra pack of 25 on hand.
If you are in the market for a product the professional recommend this is one of them.
The SHOCKWAVE No. 2 Phillips Power Bit is suitable for heavy-duty impact applications. This 50mm compact duty driver bit are strong enough to withstand durable use. The optimized Shockzone geometry offers up to 30 times longer life and has capacity to absorb 3 times more torque than other impact drivers.
The precise fit custom machined tip minimizes wobbling while overcoming stripping. The Custom Alloy76 steel bit is heat treated to resist wear and shock. It delivers high performance in most demanding applications.
Drill America High Speed Steel Aircraft Extension Drills are good for most general-purpose applications. These drill bits offer a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small pockets on the surface of the tool that act to hold coolant near the cutting edge.
Both the 1/8″ x 6″ and 3/32″ x 6″ bits are great for cleaning the filler straw that comes with Great Stuff Spray Foam. The spray foam sets up quickly, normally before using the full can, rendering it useless because of the plugged up straw.
The older cans require the 1/8″ bit the newer straws with the “Quick Stop Straw” require the 3/32″ bit but you need to cut off the “Quick Stop” before attempting to clean. These bits remove the dried expanded foam easily as the dry foam does not stick to the straw.
On the older style can, after use and the foam has hardened completely within the straw, unscrew the straw, and use the 1/8″ bit to clear the dried foam. The bend within this straw may require the 3/32″ bit to remove the dried foam.
The newer style spray foam with the straw stop, just cut off the “Yellow Quick Stop”, discard the stop and clean the red straw with the 3/32 x 6″ bit. I have found extra “Older Style” straws for sale online – always handy to have a few on hand plus the older straw will fit the newer style can that came with the quick-stop.
Remember to allow the foam to setup (dry) completely before attempting to clean the straw. By using this method, you should be able to store leftover stray foam and have the ability to use the complete can instead of discarding a partially used can.
I have not tried this on the “Restartable Big Gap Filler Straw”.
I wanted a Cobalt type drill bit but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I tried this item and it will do what i need it to do. Bit came with grease or lube on it. The point of the bit feels very sharp.
I hope the bit holds up over time. Thanks for offering this product as it seems to be a hard to find item. I will surely buy more in future.
Effective in drilling tough, high tensile strength materials like stainless steel, inconel and titanium. Display high red hardness, permitting speeds up to 30% greater than with conventional M2 high speed steel.
Manufactured to National Aerospace standard 907. 135 split point is self-centering and reduces thrust. Gold oxide is a thinner oxide surface treatment than black oxide typically used to identify cobalt steel tools, performance is similar to uncoated tools.
6-in overall length for drilling where extra length for reach is required. M35 Cobalt Drill Bit.

Can’t argue with the value and variety in this kit and the case is pretty decent. it does stack on other cases but doesn’t lock together. The bits are as good or better than most I’ve used, though I do question the thin “torque absorption zone” as it strikes me as more of marketing cover for reduce material cost during manufacturing than saving bits from damage.
Couple of potential improvements to these kits as a storage solution could be considered. If the case was some how packout compatible or if the packout storage cups were compatible with the removeable bit holders from these kits, that would be amazing.
Also having extra bit holders available to order if we wanted to re-arrange the storage in these kits. If OPT could kick that can up the hill to the product developers from Milwaukee, that would be great!.
I, mostly use this box to house the bits I prioritize for work. Which are the tinier ones for PCs and servers. But the general box set has just been great for all around work. Used the PH3 to unscrew an old screw that’s been rounded.
It worked great until the middle of the screw showed its head and was determined to be too rusty and couldn’t withstand the force of unscrewing anymore. So. the pro is that it can still screw a partially rounded screw head.
it’ll obviously break the screw if it’s not up to getting unscrewed and removed. Hahaha. But my favorite thing about this set has been the magnetized holders AND the little organizers (especially the short ones) so that I can organize my work-prioritized bits for computers and other smaller electronic devices.
I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction to purchase more of those rubber organizers so that I can add one more layer of bits into my work packout. Thanks!.
I bought this a while back for my husband since it appears every time he’s looking to fix something he can’t find his set. Now he can have this on hand, and when he’s completed his task he can place each bit right back in the case.
This bit set is a great buy, and to be honest every home should have one on hand. The other day he was fixing a cabinet and used one of the bits. He mentioned he really like this kit a lot since it has so many bits he didn’t have already.
However, he did say he noticed it was a little hard to remove some of the bits from the case but, that wasn’t a big deal! He also said it was easy to insert them into his drill. I like that it has so many sizes, a nice holder inside to keep each bit organized.
and each bit is labeled with the size on it and Milwaukee signature logo. So once you’re finished, you can place it right back in its spot within the case. Inside this Milwaukee 40 piece Shockwave Drill & Drive Set you will see: Hex Bit 1″ 1/4″, Phillips bit 2″ P2 (4), Phillips bit 2″ P3, 3/16″ Shockwave Hex Drive Bit, Shockwave Hex Drive Bit, Phillips Bit 1″ P3, Phillips Bit 1″ P2, Phillips Bit 1″ P1, Slotted 1″ No.
8 Bit, 1/8″ Drill Bit, 3/8″ Socket Adapter, 3/8″ Magnetic Nut Driver, Insert 1/2″ Socket Adapter, Hex bit 1″ 3/16″, Hex Bit 1″ 5/32″, 5/16 Magnetic Nut Driver, Shockwave Compact Magnetic Bit Holder, 1/4″ Magnetic Nut Driver, Hex Bit 1″ 1/8″, Phillips Reduced 1″ PR2 Bit, Slotted 1″ No.
10 Bit. that’s a lot of bits way more than what we had. Plus, Milwaukee has always been known for its quality products and let me say. this set is made of good quality steel. I feel I can fix anything myself without the worries of stripping or slipping due to the 40 Pc Shockwave Drill & Drive Set forged tip that allows for a secure grip and maximum contact.
I think we both have found our next brand of tools to add to our collection. The most important thing to me being a woman is they are easy for me to use also!!.
Precise Drilling in Wood. Brad Point Drill Bit offers precise drilling in soft and hard wood. Extremely sharp drill bit with a centring tip allows for exact positioning of the hole. High-quality shoulder cutters with precise edges that produce tear-free holes.
For exact results, two flutes prevent debris from clogging the hole and easily remove excess materials.
C. 45,000 holes to drill on the current job. Wondering how many of these bits it will take. So far about 4,000 holes in and one bit has snapped and one has worn out. Pretty good performance for the value, would be a bargain for a one off job or diy’er.
Accuracy and speed of drilling when fresh is very good.
Very sharp, I had bought two because of the job I’m doing, thinking I would blunt it, but not had to open the second one yet. Perfect for pilot holes in Cedar timber framework, which is very dense, and also quite wet still after two weeks drying.
This drill bit works perfectly for making pilot holes, drives quickly and removes wood waste effectively. Once fitted into my three-jaw chuck very little of the 60mm protrudes from the drill but perhaps I need to buy an extension to help with this.
As the bit is only 3mm it breaks VERY easily so I’ve ended up buying a value pack of this size drill bit from another supplier as I’m so prone to breaking them. They don’t perform quite as well, so I’ll probably come back to this one once I’ve used up the others.
Breaker point pulverize the material leading to up to 20% faster drilling speeds. Rebar guards protect the bit when hitting hard aggregate and rebar leading to longer life. Variable flutes remove the dust out of the hole more efficiently resulting in up to 15% more holes per battery charge.
Wide flute entrances lead to faster drilling speeds, while reinforced flutes prevent bit breakage, rendering increased durability in tough concrete applications. The centering tip allows for exact spot drilling.
All SDS-Max drill bits meet the ANSI specification for drilling holes for anchor applications and include wear mark indicator when signifying when the bit no longer meets the ANSI spec.
I actually bought these for a somewhat unconventional purpose. I have very rocky clay soil that even skid steer augers with carbide rock bits have trouble with. I needed to drive a bunch of t-posts and manual and gas powered drivers do nothing.
I used these in my Dewalt DCH773Y2 cordless rotary hammer. Drilled the holes to depth and used a manual t-post driver to sink them. Soooo easy and quick. I was afraid the clay would gum up the flights on the bit but it didn’t and it had no problem going through the rock or clay.
The one “German” manufacture who makes these “HIGH QUALITY” steel alloy SDS-Max bits do so and put Milwaukee, Bosch, etc. , brand-names on them. in addition to: “Made in Germany. ” They are exceptionally better tool steel quality than the Chinese bits and last 5-10 times longer than their Chinese counterpart bits that sometimes break or wear-out a few uses.
However, these drill bits from sizes 3/4″ and up are ridiculously expensive and price gouging for the quantity of steel used; but the consumer has no option resulting from lack of competitive makers in the market and low demand for these drill bit products.
Very pleased with the bit I received. So far I have drilled through several feet of very hard bluestone and the bit shows no signs of slowing down. Still as sharp as the day I bought it. Will absolutely buy again when this bit starts showing some wear.
Highly recommend over cheaper bits. You get what you pay for and this bit is well worth the money.
Drill America D/AST Series Premium Screw Machine (Stub Length) high-speed steel black oxide drill bits are manufactured to National Aerospace Standard 907. The 135° split point is self-centering and reduces thrust.
Ideal for portable or machine drilling. Short, rugged construction performs well in a broad range of materials in the iron and steel families. Screw machine drills are popular in the automotive and construction industries.
They are often used in screw machine setup where spindle clearance is limited. Sizes smaller than 1/16 in. or #52, and larger than 1/2 in. have the 118° standard point.
Selection, Purchasing and shipping were all a great experience. Unfortunately the product was not. I purchased 2 KFD drill bits in two different sizes. I was drilling and tapping a 1/2 inch thick mild steel block to mount a quick change tool post on my lathe.
I drilled a 1/4 inch pilot hole using my drill press at low RPM. Then switched to this bit. It cut radically then not at all. It only made it a little over 1/8 deep before stopping. I removed the bit and found the cutting edges rounded off.
This bit was softer than mild steel. After a resharpen it may be OK for wood but not much else. I ended up giving up on the drilling and tapping and over sized the hole and welding the stud in place in stead.
Milwaukee’s 3-Flat Secure-Grip Hammer-Drill Bits provide superiority in regards to quality, performance and longevity of life. The 3-Flat Secure-Grip shank is designed to fit in all 1/2 in. three jaw hammer-drill chucks and reduces the possibility of the bit spinning in the chuck during heavy torsional loads.
The bits drill faster and last longer than other hammer-drill bits on the market due to their reinforced flute geometry and carbide tip design. Milwaukee’s offering has a range of diameters from 1/8 in.
to 1 in. with lengths up to 18 in. One per package.
We run communications cable and sometimes in old buildings you get double block or brick faced block walls that you need to get thru. This was the right length and diameter for getting several cables thru without much trouble at all.
Perfect for those times when the regular bits are just too short. We also found that drilling thru with this smaller bit and the using a larger bit from both sides works great to prevent blowing out the block on the back side and still getting a nice clean hole.
Screw machine drills (also know as stub or stubby drills) are manufactured to Aerospace Standard 907. The 135 degree split point is self-centering and reduces thrust. Ideal for portable or machine drilling.
Short, rugged construction performs well in a broad range of materials in the iron and steel families. Screw machine drills are popular in the automotive and construction industries. They are often used in screw machine setup where spindle clearance is limited.
Sizes smaller than 1/16 and larger than 1/2 have the 118 degree standard point.
Black and gold jobber drills are manufactured from premium grade high speed steel. Killer Force Drills (KFD) have a heavy duty 135 degree split point for self-centering and reducing thrust. Gold and black surface treated for use in stainless steel and other hard metal drilling.
This driver bit set provides users with a wide range of solutions for drilling, driving, and fastening jobs. Each bit features Wear Guard Tip for increased wear resistance, which protects the fit over the life of the bit.
All impact driver bits have an optimized Shockzone for each tip type and length to efficiently absorb peak torque and prevent breaking. The Custom Alloy76 Steel is customized and heat treated per tip type to extend the life of the driver bit by up to 50X versus competitive impact driver bits.
The SHOCKWAVE Driver Bits are built to deliver extreme durability in the most demanding applications. Phillips Bits, 1 in. -3. 5 in. Square Bits, 9/64 in. -1/4 in. Hex Bits,. in. -1/4 in. Slotted Bits and 1 in.
-3. 5 in. Torx Bits. The Milwaukee Cobalt drill bits are designed with a VARIABLE HELIX that includes an aggressive 35° Helix Angle which ends at 15°. The drill bits have QUADEDGE TIP to decrease heat buildup and drill faster.
I am a long time user of Milwaukee power and hand tools but was upset at the poor performance of these drill bits. I was drilling pilot holes for hex head screws in 18-gauge metal roofing panels. The bits cut cleanly but less than ten holes with the 7/64 drill bit it snapped at the shank where the twist section of the drill starts.
I thought their may have been a flaw in that particular bit, but the same thing happened with the second 7/64 bit in the kit. I then switched to the 3/32 bit and less than twenty holes later that bit snapped at the same location on the bit.
I found an old set of Craftsman drill bit in my truck and used them to finish the job. I would not recommend these bits as they snap at the shank where the twist starts. I had to move the wooden purlin twice because the bit broke off and a second hole in the metal roof panel can cause leaking.
I regret not reading the reviews on Red Helix drill bits.
Considering the entire reason I ordered this online was for the T30 security bit, and now it is completely useless as a bit is not great. Security bits must have the hole or they don’t work. How could Milwaukee release a product that doesn’t do what it is explicitly intended for? Ends up being a complete waste of money for me.
The kit looks great besides that, but considering that is the only reason I ordered this kit. It is important enough considering now all the security bits you should considered unusable and so it definitely no longer becomes worth the price.
Bought these bits because of the Milwaukee name, but have truly been disappointed. First off it is so hard to pull the bits from the case. I’ve cut myself pulling bits from the case before. At first I thought these bits were pretty good, but I was drilling into soft materials.
When trying to drill into harder materials, its like pushing the bit through instead of actually drilling. I would not buy these again. period.
Blue-Groove drill bit point and cutting edge for fast chip removal. Wood drill bit uses double-cutting spurs that scribe the outside of the hole, reducing breakout. Flat drill bit features a large shank for added durability.
Grooved hex shank helps prevent slipping in the drill chuck or bit extension. Fits most standard quick-change chucks. Micro-groove point and cutting edges with extended spurs for faster, cleaner boring action; bore 2 times faster, last 3 times longer.
Always read & follow the operating & safety instructions in the power tool owner’s manual & the instructions for use of this accessory. Always wear safety goggles & other appropriate safety items for protection.
Reviews From Real Customers
I was looking for the bit that is pictured to replace one in my set. The one with the “ears” on the outer edge. I looked everywhere to find this style and finally found what seemed to be what I wanted.
Very disappointed when it arrived and was the new style, not the one pictured. Apparently, Irwin has replaced this bit with a different style, but retained the same part number. The “new and improved” version is not as good as the original.
It doesn’t cut a clean hole and has a tendency to wander when using a hand-held drill.
Up to 5 times more precise than a standard drill – Modern construction sites require working with many different materials and you never know what was to be drilled next. It can be difficult and time-consuming to find the right drill – unless you have the Expert MultiConstruction drill.
This extremely versatile drill allows precise drilling in hard materials, such as tiles or granite, without slipping away. This is made possible by its sharp tip and the advanced geometric design. It was manufactured with our fine-grinding production process from optimized carbide and is thus equally suitable for concrete, brick, wood and metal.
Regardless of the material, he always does professional work. The Bosch Expert MultiConstruction HEX-9 drill is a must in any tool box: You can do every job precisely and do not lose any time searching for the right drill.
Hexagonal shaft for maximum power transmission in standard drill chuck and in hexagonal holders. This text is machine translated.
This is a very good concrete bit. I have used them on stone as well but they wear out fast depending on the stone. They usually carry a warranty at building supply stores for premature wear or breaking.
Did not check with Canadian Tire. I usually pick some of them up from a building supply store when working with concrete and stone. Good to get the Canadian Tire points. Be careful with a hammer drill and working on stone.
They will break. Best to use a shorter one on stone if possible. The smaller sizes allow for small holes with smaller fasteners and drill almost like working with hard wood.
I tried this drill bit as a last ditch attempt before resorting to professional engineering services, to use on a 2. 5mm thick piece of stainless steel, after top spec cobalt bits had failed to even make a mark on it.
This went almost straight through, quickly & with some decent pressure applied. As it went through, however, it did snag – breaking off part of the tip, although with a quick clean up it completed the job.
Considering the very small diameter – 3mm – and the fact that stainless steel isn’t on the list of suitable applications I would say that it performed brilliantly. On ordinary materials I’m sure it would be suitable for repeated uses.
Bought these drills to go with my new cordless drill/driver, about a year ago now. They have performed exceptionally well, particularly in multiple situations – for example when fitting curtain rails to a lintel.
Firstly there was plaster, then thermalite block then the steel lintel and then concrete behind the lintel. Had to be patient and start with a smaller drill first, but these drills went all the way through without having to use multiple bits.
Only complaint is there is no 5mm bit in this set, so had to buy separately. Was able to make space for the 5mm in this case.
The SDS plus-3 drill bit offers durability when drilling in concrete. High-alloy steel manufactured with optimized hardening technology to prevent wear. Notched cutting edges made of a carbide compound controlled by Bosch provide additional resistance.
Purchased these simply because i needed some SDS drill bits and my current drill is a top of the range Bosch Pro SDS cordless so seemed appropriate to use the same brand. I used a couple of the bits to go into single skin brickwork of an old victorian town house.
The tips of two bits came away with very little use or effort. Ended up sending these back as they weren’t fit for purpose. *I would caveat this review with the fact that i use other Bosch SDS drill bits from other sets and single purchases which work fine, so possibly a bad batch.
Either way this is my personal experience for this set.
A really great set of SDS drill bits. Making light work of some tough (concrete) drilling situations Good range of the most common sizes. Securely packed in a tough case which should withstand rough throwing into my tool box! Great value for money.
I first bought these sets when they appeared in metal boxes, years ago. They haven’t changed much. They are still great value and will last for years, for ordinary household tasks. The only time you may consider something more expensive is if you are drilling in to a material that is exceptionally hard like engineering bricks, in which case these just aren’t up to the job.
5. 5mm may seem like an odd size to have in the set but it’s actually one the most useful drill in my opinion. Drilling in to lighter material like brick or block, the 5. 5mm gives far better results for 6mm wall plugs.
That half millimeter is the difference between a good tight fit and a sloppy fit. So, just in case you are wondering, that’s what the 5. 5 is for.
High speed m-2 steel bit drills exact size hole for tapping; use where non fractional sized holes are required in automotive mro portable drill or stationary drill press applications. 118 degree point.
Had older bit that I used an broke. Bought 2 of these due to I had several more holes to drill. They worked well and didn’t break them and holes were clean. Used Irwin products when I worked in the electrical field always had good luck with their products.
Constructed of M-42 8% cobalt high speed steel for super abrasive resistance in tough metals. Heavy-duty spiral flute design produces faster chip ejection. Shorter cutting lips reduce torque for drilling in high-tensile strength materials.
135 deg. split point reduces feed pressure for easier penetration without work hardening.
The drill bit seemed to skid inside the drill because it doesnt have a hex shank. After tightening it several times it was still not able to penetrate the thin stud side wall. I was able to penetrate easily with even a brad point wood drill, and also with my thickest black oxidized OEM drill bit (7/16 IINM) but not with this one unfortunately :((.

I tried to buy these drill bits at a big box store, but they didn’t sell individual bits and I wasn’t going to buy a whole index to get a single bit. I found Great Lakes Power Tool on the web and ordered the drill bits I needed, and they shipped the same day.
I needed this specific size for my 5th wheel hitch install. I was a little skeptical about it due to the relatively low price. It ended up being a great product. I did use cutting oil and first drilled a 3/16 inch pilot hole.
Then I drilled the 20 holes for the hitch, including 8 into my truck frame. The bit worked flawlessly and didn’t dull during use. It actually cut better than the 3/16 inch bit. I recommend this bit for drilling into a steel frame and truck bed.
This is an inexpensive cobalt bit package considering the number, sizes and quality of cobalt bits you receive. The bits are not cheap bits in the sense that they are poorly made. They are not production bits however and will not hold up under constant uninterrupted use without sufficient lubrication or if run at the wrong drill speed for the metal being drilled.
If you take the time to look up metal drilling requirements on the web, use a slow feed and don’t exert lots of pressure when you drill, they will not lose their temper, will not lose their cutting ability and will last a very long time.
A great set to have when you’ve tried everything else and your only option left is to drill out damaged fasteners.
The most important thing to remember when doing electrical work is to always use the proper tools for the job. This includes using the proper size and type of drill bit for the job. When it comes to electrical rough in, the best type of drill bit to use is a carbide-tipped drill bit.
This type of drill bit is specifically designed for drilling through tough materials, such as concrete and stone. It is also important to use a drill bit that is the proper size for the job. If the drill bit is too small, it will not be able to drill through the material.
If the drill bit is too large, it will cause the material to crack.
