Best Display Resolution For Gaming (2023 Updated)

I upgraded my Samsung sa300 series 60hz monitor to this alienware beast!!! I love it! Out of the box I didn’t do much calibration and it was already silky with rich colors and super smooth. For my hardware needs my computer can only output such high frames at 1080p.

So I’m really happy I didn’t go for the 2k dell monitor that everyone keeps suggesting. Always try to remember the screen is only good depending on what your computer can output for games. For high-end AAA games I can only average around 100-120 fps.

But older games that I still play like left 4 dead 2 and rocket league I’m getting around 200fps+ and it’s awesome! Dell was very good at reimbursing me a 25 dollar credit. My shipping kept getting delayed so I contacted them with the inconvenience from taking time off to be home for my shipment and that is what they gave me.

Anyhow. I love my monitor and even though it is only 1080p, the silky colors and smooth gameplay make this monitor worth it! Just know I don’t upgrade monitors for years to come unless I have an issue with it.

Great high refresh rate monitor. Response times are noticeably faster than lower refresh rate monitors. Colors are pretty good but not great. May need to calibrate it some to dial in the colors better.

Overall, this monitor is perfect for what I was looking for. It is a second monitor that allows for fps gaming with a high refresh rate along with being able to put it in portrait mode when using it for document based work.

The inputs are ample and the back panel cover is much easier to put on and take off than older Alienware monitors. Stand is heavy and seems durable, although I have the monitor mounted on the wall so can’t speak to how well it works.

The OSD is pretty easy to navigate. Once the monitor is dialed in with the specs you prefer, you shouldn’t need to dive back into the OSD anyways. I would definitely recommend this monitor to someone looking for a smaller screen with a high refresh rate and low input lag.

ok. so on face value, this monitor is 5 stars across the board. Speed? check. visuals? check. RGB lighting, really really good, and tastefully done, and useful as well, especially if you mount it vesa on an arm stand like me.

Keep in mind, that this monitor is a little heavier than others, so you will need to adjust a vesa arm mount for the extra weight. G sync is flawless. period, luke warm feature- the downstream usb ports.

IF you are using it on it’s stock stand (which is actually really good, and you can hang a headset on it) then the USB hub it provides is good, but the cable (think desktop) but if you use it on a laptop, the usb a to usb b (never even knew anyone used usb b) cable is a little “thick” and hard to route.

getting 2 downstream ports at the price of 1, for a net gain of 1 port is kind of a waste. You are running a thick cable for 1 extra port. Maybe, if you are charging a wireless headset, that’s the only reason I would use it.

I knocked half a star off for this. Now I am keeping this monitor, cause it really is awesome, but here is the biggest flaw. Audio output- it’s slightly distorted and has some static. I use my (bose computer speakers) with 2 inputs.

my ps5, and my laptop. both are getting audio from their respective monitors. I thought I had a cable problem, so I got 2 new cables, and my audio problem was still there. The problem is that the monitor “boosts” audio and there is no way to turn down the gain.

If you are older, you will remember what its like to have the gain on an amplifier turned too high. this is the exact same situation. unfortunately, there is no way to adjust audio wither on the screen, or through software.

half a star off for this. I have since switched to routing audio direct from the laptop, but I expect that a monitor in this price range, should have the ability to adjust the gain. maybe in a firmware update, but we all know that monitors never get firmware updates.

I purchased x2 of these to mount in my 2018 Freightliner Cascadia to complete my gaming/work station. My exact first impression on removing the 1st one from its styrofoam shell was “DANG, HECKIN CHONKI”.

On opening the second one my reaction was, “umm where are the HDMI cables”. Yes, this monitor is in my opinion a heckin TANK. Resolution is on point. The backlit screen gives my sleeper cab an entirely new atmosphere, which it definitely needed.

Overall im giving 3 stars because of the complete lack of a paper manual, which yes, can be found online. Thats not my deal here. My main issue is this monitor specifically requires a 45 degree rotating mount, which is not stated in the product information.

I was not pleased to say the least. But my work around was buying x2 thim metal plates and drilling a 100mmx100mm diamond and with the help of spacers i was able to attach them to my previous mounts.

Will probably be returning this monitor, it has issues running g sync in windowed full screen / borderless windowed. Saw it was on the nvidia compatibility list and thought that it would be ok but so far nothing but issues.

When I first hooked it up I had issues with both of my monitors blacking out and turning back on, then I turned g sync to work with full screen and windowed full screen and went to launch a game. The game launched and was a slideshow and crashed within 30 seconds, this happened with multiple games.

I changed it to fullscreen and it somewhat works but there is still noticeable ghosting. Speaking of ghosting if you turn the response rate up to fastest settings via the monitors menu the ghosting is unbearable, I tried different solutions that people had posted online to get g sync to work in windowed mode to no avail.

It will ether always crash the game on launch and a couple times it even hard locked my PC. I’ve used DDU and fresh install of windows and the problem still persists. If I’m going to spend this much on a monitor that promotes itself as g sync compatible I expect it work and not only work partially.

The hardware this is paired with is i7-8700k, 32 gb ram, RTX 3080, 960 EVO m. 2 SSD, I even tried this with my other setup that uses a RTX 2070 and it has the same issues. Will probably be returning this and trying to find an actual G sync monitor but it seems best buy doesn’t really carry much of a selection especially 1440p 144hz or higher.

The image quality of this monitor is subpar straight out of the box, you will need to do some heavy tinkering to get it to look good via nvidia control panel and monitor settings. Also if you have an AMD card free sync will probably work fine but I would not recommend this to any nvidia users.

I love this monitor, or at least the the ones manufactured in Mar 2020. I recently purchased a 2nd monitor manufactured in Jul 2021, and could tell immediately that the newer version is slightly off.

What I have tried will be listed below: Long story short, nothing worked. However if you read the last entry, I found the solution!!! -GPU out was HDMI and Display Port. I thought maybe HDMI 8K cable was better than my 4K Display Port cable.

So I swapped them, between the (2) monitor’s with still the same color results. -I went into system -> advanced display settings -> Noticed that main monitor was 144hz, while the duplicate was 120hz.

I couldn’t force my duplicated monitor to 144hz, so I changed my main monitor to 120hz. Still the same color results. -I went into the monitor settings and tried to change the color by user, with no luck.

-I called ASUS customer support. Let’s just say their products are great, but speaking with tech support is trash. Solution. I purchased another monitor and looked on the back of the 3rd “test” monitor and noticed that it was manufactured in Jul 2021, just like the 2nd “duplicate” monitor.

So I unplugged my main monitor “Mar 2020” and noticed immediately that the 2nd and 3rd monitor’s colors were identical. So essentially, if you know that your going to extend display’s, purchase both of the same monitor’s at the same time, more than likely you’ll purchase the same manufacturing month and year, and not having my situation.

I added pictures, of the color differences. It looks blurry when I attached them to this review, hopefully it shows up.

So I was looking for a new monitor for my Xbox Series X. While I had thought about getting a 1440p monitor, but 1080p still looks just fine. My main desire was the 120hz/120FPS capability on Xbox and this monitor delivers that.

The monitor and stand were very easy to put together, as it literally took less than a minute to set up. I love the adjustable height and how easy it is to adjust. The monitor looks good and has nice colors, but you will need to mess around with the settings to find the best picture for you.

I do wish some of the settings were more customizable, like Vivid Pixel. If you want a sharper image, vivid pixel will do that, but it goes up in increments of 25, and in my personal opinion, 25 is too high.

I wish I could set it at around 10, but it doesn’t allow you to. But either way, there’s alot of different settings you can try out to optimize the picture. The monitor comes with a Display Port, but if you’re playing on console, just use your standard HDMI chord and you’re good to go.

Don’t forget to go into the settings and turn on 120hz. It definitely makes the gameplay much smoother, especially on games that support 120FPS. Overall, great monitor for the price. There’s monitors much better out there, but for this price, it’s a solid deal.

This monitor delivers for its price. The colors are better than acceptable and the refresh rate is that sweet spot for modern games. You can get faster but the price goes up and the Law of Diminishing Returns kicks in.

1080p is a great spot if you’re running anything from an Nvidia 10 series to a 3060. In Warzone on medium high settings my girlfriends Asus Zephyrus G14 3060 laptop is hitting 130 FPS average with no screen tear or artifacts.

The 24” size is also perfect for 1080p as this size seems to be the sweet spot for pixel density. Most 1080p monitors I’ve seen bigger than this lose their sharpness as there are too few pixels for the screen size.

There is a tiny bit of motion blur on small far away dark objects on a light background but I’ve come to suspect that is more the laptop as it does the same thing on my $700 Acer Predator XB273U GX 27” 240hz 1440p monitor that I use for my much more powerful desktop.

This monitor is FreeSync compatible but Nvidia will not detect it automatically as it was not tested and certified to work with G-Sync. You just need to go into the setting on the monitor and turn on Variable Refresh Rate and then the “Enable G-Sync” will appear in Nvidia Control Panel.

Now for the only major downside: the User Interface is a total pain to use. Instead of giving you a joystick nipple to navigate the menu, you have 5 buttons that aren’t always clearly labeled on screen.

Add on top of that Asus’ TERRIBLE naming of monitor features (to be fair most brands seem to use proprietary names for everything from VRR to Backlight Adjust instead of calling them what they are) I eventually gave up and went to YouTube and found a review that explains the important settings and I haven’t touched it since.

If you’re in the market for a really good 1080p 144hz gaming monitor, I really think you should add this to your monitor comparison list.

This is a great monitor for the XSX or PS5. I didn’t have an issue the color settings out of the box, but I’m sure some will need to do some calibrations for their personal preferences. The picture for me was great and having HDR was an extreme plus.

It’s very well built and with a premium finish. The back is a nice addition if you want to have the back in area where it can be seen. Like others have said the stand does not allow for swivel (the model that ends in 50 does).

It also does not have built in speakers but you can connect headphones or and external audio source. The only things that I wish were different were the inputs being built into the underside of the monitor.

I feel like the weight of the cables will eventually damage the ports. The power cable is way too short as well, but that’s a design flaw on all new monitors of this caliber. Last thing is if you use a VESA mount, there’s a part that connects to the legs that will still be exposed.

It’s not a big deal but it does take away from the asthetic of the back. Even though it a has a couple of shortcomings its still a great monitor, especially if you can get it on sale.

First things first the looks and fit and finish. The bezels are very thin, almost near bezel less. When on you don’t really see the outer trim, in a matte finish that doesn’t give off any glare. The depth and thickness is very minimal, you can easily mount it and not have a stick out from the wall.

The bottom legs are adorned by a red trim along the length of the legs that support the monitors. The rear has has the same Red trim around the circular bezel and below the UltraGear logo. Not a log of monitors look good from the back, but this one does.

You have 1 DisplayPort and 2 HMDI, along with a slim Power connector. Overall the looks of the monitor is very premium, it is solid, and does not wobble, no flimsily plastic very high quality. Now the performance side, this was tested with both Nvidia, and AMD configurations for FreeSync and G-Sync.

Using a test bench with AMD Ryzen 5950x, 32GB Ram and Nvidia RTX 3080 and AMD 6900XT. Both some of the higher end offerings out there. The RTX G-Sync only works on the Display Port, and Freesync works with HDMI.

Both their respective software and drivers automatically detected the feature set and allowed me to enable Freesync or G-Sync very easily. Once enabled it was very noticeable in gaming performance. Tested from demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 down to fast paced games like Fortnite and Warzone.

Performance wise they both worked flawlessly with the 165hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Heavy games like Cyberpunk that dip with frame rate allowed for a very smooth gaming experience when going from 100 FPS down to 60-50 on heavy scenes but it was very hard to notice due to the G-Sync being enabled, it kept the gaming smooth and fast not a drop to the eye.

Games like Fortnite that are extremely fast paced allowed for a great smooth and seamless experience, no lag, no dips just fast. The built in cross hair also gave me an edge during hectic and fast paced matches.

The 1ms response time really does remove the ghosting and blur when the speed of the game gets heated. Every ounce of performance counts when you are playing competitively, and having 165hz and 1ms mbr gives you a read edge and can mean the difference.

Testing the HDR feature during gaming and movies was great! Once enabled windows allows for you take advantage of the deep dark blacks and vibrant color that really do pop! Games like Cyberpunk with dark and gritty scenes really take a new shape with easy to see smog, shadows and near glow of signs.

It really does make a difference. When watching Movies with HDR on it allows for a more immersive experience with colors and really do shine through allowed me to get into the movie watching experience with is rarely done on a computer monitor.

Also the website does not mention G-Sync capability but it does work right out of the box, no issues what so ever enabling it. Windows and Nvidia drivers recognize the feature and allow you to toggle it, likewise with the AMD adrenaline software it had similar experience with a pop up telling you that the Freesync feature was available, there was no difference in performance when it came to gaming on AMD or Nvidia, both allowed for a very smooth and no drop in performance gaming associated with the refresh rate features.

Over all I would highly recommend this monitor to any serious gamer looking for the best 1440p QHD monitor with 165hz 1ms response time for the upper hand in competitive gaming! hit it where counts, you will not be disappointed with this one.

Performance and looks to match.

I have to admit, I was skeptical about buying refurbished monitors at first. You hear so many horror stories over the years that it makes you really question whether the savings is worth the potential hassle.

Well, in this case, I would say absolutely (so far). I bought two, as I wanted a dual monitor setup, and 12 days in, the only complaint I have is that the monitor stands themselves have a larger footprint than I thought they would.

This was easily remedied by snagging a dual mount arm from another retailer, but definitely expect the base to stick out more than you think it will. Otherwise, these were easy to set up, and have had zero issue.

I went display port for both of them, since part of the allure of this particular monitor was the refresh rate. A few clicks in windows, and I have the smoothest views I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing.

The colors and edges are crisp and vibrant, there are no bad pixels, and the bezels are delightfully thin compared to monitors I’ve used in the past. If I push the two edges together instead of leaving a gap like I normally do, there’s no more than about half an inch of black between the two images.

As far as game play is concerned, everything looks smooth as glass and I haven’t had an issue with tearing or stuttering since I got these. I will say that occasionally, I have random, for lack of a better term, glitch flashes, but I think that’s more the fault of my poor, beleaguered RX570 than the monitors themselves.

TL;DR – if you’re thinking about buying this monitor, I say do it. They’ve been a purchase worth every penny for me, and I have no regrets at this point.

The 144 hz is nice. The stand has no padding so it wil scrape your table though. also you can’t adjust it to go up. You can change the viewing angles by changing the angles but you cant face it sideways.

The color is a little weird imo maybe its just because im used to the my old moniters colors but this one seems a bit darker to me. The 144 hz is nice however. Besides the stand issues and such, the only downside is the colors which wouldn’t really bother you while gaming and the contrast and rgb can be adjusted.

The stand is pretty high quality metal as long as the frame. The frame also has a small border which I like. I think mounting it would make it a lot better so you wouldn’t have to deal with the stand.

Also maybe you could add your own home-made padding under it to avoid scratches. If this is your first moniter I would recommend it as a budget moniter it is pretty nice.

I leave honest and true reviews on items so that people don’t have to question what they buy. This monitor is amazing. Great build quality, style and function. Stand is amazing. Screen is clean and crisp.

Curve is perfect for gaming. This monitor is perfect for Xbox Series X. You can achieve 120hz at 2k with the Freesync on. I went through a few monitors before finding on that can truly do this at this price point.

It will also up scale to 4k at 60hz if your interested in that as well. Lost of comments about the ability to put it on an arm. I have mine mounted on an arm no problem. It comes with pegs to raise up the plate so you can mount it to an arm.

Shown in my pictures. You just need to remove the quick release stand. It also includes 4 screws for a mounting plate with the 4 pegs to raise it up to the mount plate. 100% recommend buying. Has to be one of the best priced monitors for the feature it offers!.

I’ve Unleashed and been using this ultra beast now for over one year now and I’ve been pushing it to it’s full potential extensively using my RTX 3080 Ti GPU & Gaming Consoles. Forget the “Pro’s & Con’s” Here is the Truth: I purchased the “LG UltraGear 27GN850-B model” which is pretty much the same monitor as the 27GL850-B but without the (USB-ports).

Let me tell you. This Monitor Dropkicks” the QHD 2K 1440p -144hrz & HD 1080p 100hrz gaming competition out of our solar system with it’s raw IPS performance!! It is a phenomenal gaming monitor and I have experienced three other gaming monitors so far, Now 4! It delivers vibrant, accurate, and consistent colors with the fastest response time speed equal if not better than any other IPS monitor in the market from 2020 into 2021! I’ve been giddy like a kid again enjoying the extremely low input lag, and tear-free G-sync action!.

There’s plenty of additional useful features that I am loving like the “Cross-Hair” input option that actually helps in fast paced FPS games. I thought it was just a gimmick but I was schooled by it’s attribute.

Other features like “Black Stabilizer” which lets you tune/tweak the blacks/shadows within games and media to your satisfaction! Also, there is a “Game Mode” a preset configuration of different calibrated styles like “Gamer Mode 1 & 2 which are for a variety of different games that gives you the ability to tweak & configure them both to enjoy your favorite games! There is also an “FPS Mode – RTS Mode” For when you need to quickly switch to the easiest optimized gaming mode as you jump in and out of multiplayer games.

Other modes like HDR Effect – Reader Mode & sRGB Mode gives the user the edge for entertainment & work related uses. But the best of them all. “My Favorite” = “Vibrant Mode” this mode (in my opinion) is excellent for Movie watching and especially for single player open world Games like The Witcher 3 & Red Dead Redemption 2, and also The Last of Us 2 which I’m currently playing on my PS5 and it’s Gorgeous running at 2160p/60FPS due to the wonderful radiant colors and finely tuned gamma/contrast ratio!.

I could ramble on about how good this monitor is but I’m sure you get the point. Now for the other Truth: My only warning to anyone who loves to use monitors in the darkest of rooms will of course notice there is some IPS glow from the edges of the screen and some minor backlight bleeding.

So to those who might be wondering what does that mean? It means the deep blacks within videos/movies that appear on screen look more like very dark grey and at bad angels there is shiny reflections/glowing from the corners of the screen but for games you can work around that with built in features/options as I described above.

Also easy fix is to just turn on a lamp or burn some candles which will brighten up the room a little thus negating some of the IPS glow. But with that said this small downside does not have a negative impact on me with my every day enjoyment/experience with it, but it might for someone who like I said, “Really Loves” to watch scary horror flicks or prefers to work/edit in the dark.

Overall: This LG UltraGear QHD LED IPS Monitor is a premium (Savage!) For the $400+ price-tag this is one of the top 5 best of the best gaming monitors you can buy hands down!!. For someone who is looking to upgrade or is a new adventurer in this landscape.

“I Highly Recommend This Product”.

For the money, this is an excellent 2K gaming monitor. Since I use nVidia, having the G-SYNC compatibility really does optimize this monitor. If you are going to use HDR, make sure you have a GOOD graphics card, such as the GTX 3060 series.

DisplayPort and HDMI are standard, but I always recommend DisplayPort for gaming over HDMI. The smoothness of the graphics on screen is wonderful, and I have not seen any issues on the borders of the screen while using my computer on Windows or playing games.

LG makes some nice monitors, and I recommend them overall. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars is for the monitor you can sometimes get the same or a little better currently, but this is still a really good monitor.

The other reason for the four stars is something I have issues with on many gaming monitors, and that is the on-screen controls from the bottom of the monitor. I have never been a fan of this, and I think there should be easier ways to use the onscreen controls for the monitor, even adding extra software for install on your operating system.

The Dell S2721NX 27″ monitor offers FHD (1920×1080) display and when I connected it to my laptop via HDMI, the picture is sharp and crisp. The AMD FreeSync means you should get better picture with compatible graphics cards but this is not an ideal gaming monitor.

So don’t let the FreeSync confuse you into thinking you should buy this as a gaming monitor. The S2721NX has some compromises like a 4 m/s response time and HDMI only input. Although there are 2 HDMI ports, I really wish Dell had included 1 HDMI and 1 Display Port – as the latter tends to give you better results regardless of how you plan to use it.

The 4 m/s response time and 75mhz refresh rate is perfect for business use and would suffice for gaming, but if your primary use is gaming you would want a faster response time and higher refresh rate.

It’s a compromise that’s OK for business, but worth knowing if you’re looking to use it non-work purposes. Don’t take any of this as a criticism. The S2721NX looks for work use, watching YouTube, or Netflix but note the monitor does not have speakers.

The on screen controls are some of the most intuitive I have used, and I love that Dell includes a blue light filter option in the menus. Also great is that it has a VESA mount. FYI, the included stand is not a VESA stand and mounts via a proprietary connector but the stand can be removed (there’s a pin hole release button that you can use a paperclip with to remove the stand).

I also love that the power supply doesn’t require a brick or proprietary plug, always a plus. Overall, the S2721NX is a good monitor for office/study/work use, can stretch to gaming on a casual basis, but remember it’s HDMI only.

If you think you will spend an equal time working in gaming, you may be better buying a monitor that is more weighted towards gaming. I’m torn between a 4 on this review and I really feel like it’s a 3.

5, so giving it a 4 because I think this is a good monitor and the VESA port makes it stand above other comparable business monitors. You would be surprised, but some business monitors don’t have VESA support.

Just compare the response time and refresh rate should you be comparing this to an alternative model or monitor. PS. I am just putting this here as not sure if it’s an issue just for me, but my USB C to HDMI cable wouldn’t work with the monitor.

I’ve never had this issue before. But in good news, Dell include a HDMI cable in the box, so it wasn’t a deal breaker and doesn’t change my review because it could be any of half a dozen reasons (cable issues, driver, etc).

It’s tough to write an adequate review for a monitor. Firstly, vision is unique to the person so picture quality claims are subjective at best. Secondly, since most displays and display drivers (the board that sends the picture to the screen) are made by a small handful of companies in China and Taiwan, it’s also tough to say that one brand has a substantial advantage over another since they mostly contain the same “guts”.

So, I usually look at the features, the design (both engineering and esthetic) and the reputation of the company putting its brand on it. I spent over 35 years in IT and Help Desk management and in my experience HP and Dell have always proven their worth to me and my clients.

Their rugged design and longevity led me to use Dell monitors in my own home lab and I’ve never been disappointed. The S2421NX is no exception. For the price, it’s hard to beat the quality and features.

Two HDMI inputs allow for auto switching, so you can hook two PCs up to the same monitor (which allowed me to bypass my HDMI switch and cables. The menu is logically designed and well thought out. More importantly, it’s easy to access and navigate.

And it looks great from all sides, including the back thanks to the ingenious design that includes a little plastic “hatch” that covers all the required labels and endorsements. As far as the picture quality, I was really pleased with it but it’s something you really must see for yourself.

Fortunately, BB does a great job in store showing their monitors off and I’ve even had a salesperson set up a monitor that wasn’t on display so I could check it out. And if you don’t like it once you get it home, BB has one of the best returns policies in the business.

(And some of the best customer support people, too!) I wish this had a DisplayPort input as well, but I grasp that it’s not something everyone needs and it’s an understandable exclusion in this price range.

But as far as cons go, I really had to dig deep for that one. I replaced my HP monitor in the lab with this to test it and now I’m leaving in place – it looks/works that good. I would definitely recommend this monitor as a complement to any PC (not just Dell) and I don’t think anyone would be disappointed in their choice.

The Dell S2721NX 27″ monitor is a good all-around monitor. It’s got plenty of size at 27″, though it’s 1080p resolution (FHD) is about the maximum I would consider for a 27″ monitor–this is the point at which I start to think about QHD or even UHD, though those tend to rapidly increase the price point.

Images still do look bright and crisp though, even with the default brightness set at 75%. Its specs say it’s rated to 300 nits, and while I don’t have calibration tools to judge that, I do think that’s probably about right when comparing it to the very bright screen of the Dell XPS 15 laptop I connected this to.

It’s quite sufficient for well-lit rooms. While not a “gaming monitor” per se, the higher than typical refresh rate–75Hz instead of 60–is a nice touch (and not just for gaming), as is the inclusion of AMD’s FreeSync technology that reduces screen tearing.

How much you can use FreeSync might depend on your graphics output–obviously AMD GPUs and mobile processors with graphics will be fine, but your mileage may vary with Nvidia’s GPUs; personally I’ve not got them to work with FreeSync though I believe you’re supposed to have some limited benefit.

Aesthetically it’s a nice looking monitor, with very narrow bezels around the top and sides, with the lower bezel being thicker. The power button and control buttons for menu navigation are tucked under the right side of the lower bezel.

The back has a nice textured feel to it, and there are VESA mounting options as well. The back panel is straightforward and consumer-oriented with two HDMI ports and power–no DisplayPort, USB Type C, or legacy VGA ports here.

Setup is a breeze out of the box–the whole monitor can up and running in no more than five minutes really. The adjustable base connects via a thumbscrew to the support column which in turn easily plugs into the rear of the monitor.

Overall, this a good monitor for those want something with a lot of size that has a fair amount of versatility for multiple uses. I’ve used Dell monitors at home and work for a long time and have always liked them, and this seems like another solid entry.

I purchased two of these and they are sharp and clear with mostly good color rendition (maybe they need to be calibrated?). These are G-Sync compatible, which is a plus for anyone with Nvidia graphics, although this only works over DisplayPort, not HDMI.

The menu system is very nice, although this leads to one of my complaints — the buttons on the back of the monitor are right aligned, so if you mount the monitor side by side, the monitor on the left is harder to adjust the OSD menu.

The USB Hub is a very nice inclusion here, and an unexpected one. I was not aware of this before purchasing, but it provides extra USB 3. 0 ports. This makes it easier to plug in peripherals as needed.

The 165Hz refresh rate is great, although not quite as obvious as the adjustment from 60Hz to 144Hz. Once you’ve tried a refresh rate 144Hz and above, it’s hard to go back. Cursor moves are smoother on the screen, and everything feels more responsive.

At full resolution of 2540 x 1440, text and icons do appear very small (I had to adjust Windows to 125% magnification to compensate). At 27″, this is about as high a resolution as I would go. If you want a 4k monitor, I would definitely recommend a larger screen size too.

The extra resolution does make graphics sharper and also provides extra screen real estate for applications. Overall, these are a welcome upgrade from my previous LG monitors. Dell is a consistent manufacturer of computer peripherals, and I am rarely disappointed by what they produce.

This is the best monitor I’ve ever owned. I upgraded to the 27″ QHD from 27″ FHD ViewSonic XG2701 (triple monitor). The previous monitors were great for gaming, but when it came to anything other than gaming that involved text, they were blurry and caused a fair amount of eye strain.

This Dell is so sharp, the colors are vibrant and it’s so much easier to work with while still running my games beautifully. The higher refresh rate available on this guy is not just nice for gaming, it makes everyday use more pleasant as well with very smooth mouse pointer action and no flicker when scrolling or manipulating objects on screen.

I am using an ASUS Strix Vega 56, so no more triple monitor gaming at full resolution, but I was getting away from using the trips much anyway. The settings buttons can take a little practice but are very useful with all the customizations the monitor allows you to do.

The monitor does have a fan on it, but I have not heard it at all while it’s running. The lighting on the back of the monitor is wasted on my setup which backs up to a wall, but it would be pretty fun if I had a setup where the back of the monitor was visible.

The built in frame timer (fps) is super cool, showing a real time frame rate from the monitor’s perspective. I haven’t taken the full dive to play with all the features yet. This monitor does not have speakers, in case anyone was confused about that.

It does have a headphone jack in the bottom left of the frame as well as 2 USB3 ports in that spot. There are 2 more USB3 ports in the input panel on the back. My speed tests show they appear to run at the standard 5Gbps and not at Gen2 speeds.

It includes the USB3 cable to connect to the monitor as well as HDMI and DisplayPort cables in the box. If you want the full 165Hz refresh rate, you have to use the DisplayPort input as the HDMI port is limited to 144Hz.

This means that if you are using an HDMI to DP adapter, you will still get HDMI performance, which is still pretty amazing. In my opinion it’s worth every penny, and Best Buy price matched the Dell site quickly and easily via text chat when I was ordering the monitor.

This is a good 32″ monitor if you are not comparing it to an AMVA panel. I have an Asus P328Q next to this monitor, and the asus is much better colorwise, contrastwise, and blacks are deep black on the AMVA.

The blacks and contrast ratio on this monitor are typical IPS, they are simply lacking. There’s light bleed on the bottom of the monitor, especially from one corner. Only one dead pixel. It’s a great second monitor for the price.

HDR is deficient, but then again it’s bad on all monitors. The Asus AMVA panel does not have HDR, but if cranked all the way up in brightness and contrast, it performs very similar to this LG monitor (that has HDR).

This monitor has it’s own simulated HDR effect, and does not use the Windows 10 HDR. Turning on Win 10 HDR made all the colors washed out. I have not yet found any ICC profiles for this monitor, but I’m sure colors will look better when calibrated.

The real deal breaker for me is the online LG software, “onscreen control”. It’s simply broken. For example, I select HDR effect, then click on on game (PUBG for example) and the settings change to custom.

The software keeps changing the settings, and does not maintain them. The only way to change settings and keep them is through the toggle switch on the monitor. Moreover, the onscreen control does not display all the programs installed on my computer.

I can’t find steam and pubg in the list of available programs. Gaming at 75hz is fine. I agree that 144hz may be smoother, but quite frankly I do not see or feel much of a difference. Possibly there’s a pshycological difference.

144hz will certainly not give you more frags. I have tried endless monitors in the past 6 months including many other more expensive variants of 32″ and 27″. In general I find 27″ IPS models, to be much better than the 32″ color wise.

I have tried the upper end Dells, Asus, Samsung etc. They are better than this monitor but cost up to $899. At the end of the day, this monitor is best, especially at this price range.

I use my monitor to do my schoolwork and it is great for multitasking. The set up process was quick and easy. 4k resolution can be too sharp some times so QHD is perfect for me! The colors are vibrant, and the text is clear.

Because the screen is so big, I also use it to watch shows/movies with my roommates. I have a pretty large desk so this monitor fits very well. I would recommend measuring your desk to make sure the monitor is not too large for you.

I am thoroughly enjoying my experience with this monitor. I have have been using a MacBook Pro for the last 10 years and I’ve never used an external monitor. This has been quite the worthwhile upgrade.

The more I use it, the happier I am with it. I am very impressed with the quality of the picture. The colors and images just pop no matter what I am viewing. This was was next-level in comparison to the Retina display on my Mac.

Although the Retina display is very nice for sharpness/text clarity. Initially I was searching for a 27 inch 4k monitor, yet I found with that size and resolution the text was just too small for me to comfortably read.

Whichever monitor I chose I wanted to use it at its native resolution without scaling the resolution. My eyesight isn’t what it used to be and I need to be able to clearly see the text for coding. Even a 32 inch 4k monitor yielded very small text.

Anything over 40 inches would have been too big. I decided that 27 inches was a bit too small. I decided to go with 2k at 32 inches instead. The text clarity in VSCode and XCode is perfectly clear as with all of the applications that I use.

The only variation in text quality that I find is in viewing websites. Some look great and some just average, which I attribute to the quality of the websites. I love the larger font/text size of this monitor in comparison to the font/text size of 4k.

I also love the On Screen Control software built into this LG monitor. I love being able to divide the screen into 3 or 4 sections. The software works beautifully. I have plenty of real estate for everything I need.

I use this feature in conjunction with creating virtual desktops on my Mac and it’s a great experience. Everything I need with one monitor. I really enjoy the stand as well. The stand is built like a tank and rock solid.

I love the height adjustability. It’s a really smooth movement. The monitor does not move or shake at all when I’m typing aggressively. The picture is highly adjustable with incredible brightness, contrast and color.

I have most of the picture settings set to around 60 or 70%. One setting I really appreciate is the gamma setting that is found within game settings. I set it to gamma 3 and the blacks became perfectly black.

I really appreciated this because I use my Mac in “Dark Mode”. The blacks in VSCode and Xcode also became perfectly black which creates a perfect contrast for the text. When I watched some 4k and 8k videos on YouTube I was really impressed.

Absolutely amazing clarity and detail. I am attaching a couple of photos to show the beautiful color, the On Screen Control screen management, and the incredible detail in 4k and 8k video. Overall I am very happy with this monitor.

It really represents an incredible value with incredible picture and build quality. To me it’s worth double what I paid for it because it met every single need that I had and then some, without giving me a bunch of stuff that I don’t use or need.

In this day and age when there are so many choices available, and so many features, and so much tech built into things, it’s a very satisfying experience to buy something that fulfills all of my wants and needs without being over the top in price or features.

Pretty good monitor overall; current price-value proposition is hard to beat. I debated returning this one and replacing with an IPS, but decided to keep it. More on that later. Build quality is good, stand is stable but monitor will oscillate a bit if your desk shakes.

Height and tilt adjustment are sufficient. Gentle curve helps with color accuracy without adding excessive depth to the monitor. Screen quality is really good, gets bright, color a bit oversaturated and blue out of the box but easily fixed; gamma a bit bright but can be calibrated as well.

Of the two monitors that I ordered, one has 3 barely noticeable pixel defects (not a typical bright pixel, but won’t go to full black). Reflection handling is quite good. This is a VA panel, so it has its pros and cons vs IPS (won’t talk about OLEDs here).

Black uniformity and contrast ratios are much, much better. Viewing angle is all right – black levels rise as you move off-center. The curve definitely helps here; blacks are blacker on the edges. Response time is generally good except for certain transitions, which cause “black smear” and to a lesser extent, color smear.

This is more obvious in synthetic tests than normal use, and more obvious in certain games depending on their color palette and in-game brightness. For example, I don’t notice it at all in Rocket League; in PUBG, don’t notice it in outdoor settings, but it’s obvious indoors.

Use the “Super Fast” response time setting for best results. After a couple of weeks of playing competitive shooters, driving games and survival sims on it, I’m planning on keeping it, as opposed to returning and buying an IPS panel.

The color smear can be distracting but is quite infrequent; I’d rather have it over the glowing, greyish blacks of an IPS panel, though.

Ordering was easy, arrived quickly, good build quality. Picture quality not as expected from a Dell monitor. Odd purple-ish color cast I couldn’t correct without ruining reds. Could not get whites crisp, looked light-grey.

Brightness (subjectively) doesn’t seem to reach 300 as advertised. Attempted manual adjustments, I don’t have confidence that it can be adquately corrected with a Spyder calibrator. HOWEVER, skin tones on photos are unexpectedly nice though not fully accurate.

Use: 2nd monitor for software development and photo editing. Replacing a mid-2010 iMac I was using as a 2nd display. Connection: Display Port to a late 2020 27″ iMac. Subjective comparisons to: a) past experience with Dell monitors on Dell machines, e.

g. sVGA/DPI, including photo editing. b) the 2010 27″ QHD iMac it is replacing as a 2nd monitor. Summary: Should be just fine for gaming and for office work if you’re not picky about color and don’t have it sitting beside an iMac.

Bought 2 of these to use for my home office. FWIW the computer I’m using is a lenovo thinkcentre m93p which has an Intel Core i5 4th generation processor (4 cores, 3. 2ghz). I’ve put in 16gb of RAM but other than that haven’t made any changes.

Not running a video card either. I use these primarily for work and watching video which is limited to HD due to my internet connection (20 or 30 mbps I believe). I’ve only been using them for about 2 weeks so I can’t speak to their durability yet.

I bought 27″ because that was listed as the maximum size my monitor stand at work could handle, thinking that it would be marginally larger than my 21″ monitors I have at work. That was not correct – these things are significantly larger than I anticipated.

Not that that is a bad thing – quite the contrary. But I would suggest visiting the store so you can see them in person before buying. That being said, I don’t know if these monitors need to burn in or not so take this review with a grain of salt.

The colors on these monitors aren’t quite as deep as I am used to (which is fine when you’re just staring at excel spreadsheets), but that being said they aren’t exactly washed out. The refresh rate is fine and watching videos in HD looks natural with no unusual artifacts or other visual imperfections.

They come with an HDMI cable so you don’t have to buy one separately, but be warned that they don’t have any Displayport outputs (which was the only input on the computer I’m using with these) – only HDMI and VGA.

Microcenter does sell HDMI->Displayport adapters so if that’s what you use make sure to pick up a couple (I think they’re like $7 each). Overall, I think these are great monitors for the price. That being said, they aren’t QHD and if you are serious about gaming (I’m not) you will probably want something a little higher end.

I was deciding in the range of 23in to 27in and thought that 27in would be too big for being close to my face, but it’s a beautiful size that’s perfect for my desk. I got this monitor with the idea that I’d like to be able to use it as a second display to my laptop.

I kept in mind the fact that I wanted to use it for schoolwork (such as having four windows open and being able to look between them instead of click between them on a smaller screen), and I kept in mind that I would be able to use it for casual competitive gaming also.

I play overwatch most of the time and it works beautifully on this display. It isn’t too big or too close to my face to cause me to back up or turn my head. I use borderless window during gameplay so I can continue to move my cursor between both screens (if I have in fullscreen in most games, it won’t let me move my cursor back to my original laptop screen).

The refresh rate (75Hz) is a great add-on to the already good price, screen size, and LED screen. 100% recommend over other pricier models if you’re looking for a monitor for anything school related or even amateur gaming.

Why to get instead of others: -27in Monitors are not usually this cheap, 100% worth the money. – >60Hz monitors are usually very pricey, so this 75 Hz refresh rate is amazing that it comes with this price, (the refresh rate really only matters if you want to game competitively on that screen) – The fact that it’s LED/LCD and not TN is amazing for this price range.

Bought two of these for a dual monitor setup. Once setup, I immediately noticed something wrong. One monitor was far brighter than the other. A quick check of settings showed they were the set for the same brightness (85), yet the right monitor was very dim.

Upon further digging, I noticed the OSD menu was slightly different on the dim one compared to the normal one. Thinking back to when I was unboxing them, the two monitors had different styles of styrofoam packing.

Why? Yet the boxes, model numbers, everything looked the same. More fiddling with the OSD menu, the dim one had a “max brightness” setting, where the bright one did not have that setting in the menu at all.

I turned it on, and boom! Instant brightness to match the other one. The other problem became apparent — the monitor that was dim has a reddish cast to it compared to the other one that has perfect whites.

So with the monitors side-by-side, put a browser screen right in the middle so it’s on both screens and you can easily see the trouble monitor is not white. I checked all the OSD menu settings and they matched the other one and nothing would fix it.

In Windows display properties,, I noticed something — Windows saw the good monitor as XF243Y and the bad monitor as XF243YP. A-HA! I checked the box for the “P” monitor and nothing on the label shows anything about being a “P” variant.

The labels were not the same either. They looked different. So, buyer beware, there is an inferior “P” variant. The easiest way to tell which one you have is the styrofoam. The packing for the “P” monitor is like a sandwich with the monitor and stand in the middle of the two pieces of foam that has to be fully removed from the box.

The good monitor has foam that you lift the top half out of the top of the box, allowing you to remove the monitor and stand and the bottom half stays in the box. The “P” monitor is going back, and I’ve taken pictures of the label of the good monitor to do a match.

My Quality star rating is based on an average of the good and bad monitor. The good monitor is excellent.

Was looking for an external monitor to connect to my Legion 7i. My desktop ‘beast’ has a 32 inch TUF Gaming model but for gaming & testing, I wanted a smaller screen size for connection to this laptop and others.

This monitor does 165 Hz beautifully, supports FreeSync, has great color reproduction – like you would expect for modern IPS panel, gets real bright and has a deep set of adjustments. It will do HDR as well but I find it looks best with that off.

Another sleeper product in a sea of mediocrity. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect gaming monitor for my small, corner-desk arrangement. No bling. No gimmicks. It just works perfectly. RTINGS has a very in-depth and convincing review on the Nitro XF243Y.

For the price, this is a great monitor. Love the fact that it has two HDMI inputs as well as a DisplayPort. The picture quality and color quality is excellent. Love the super thin bezels and adjustable stand.

The price is really good for what you get. I only have a few nitpicks. First, the menu controls aren’t great. I’m not a fan of using a mini joystick on the back of the screen to navigate around the control menus.

Since you don’t need the controls very often at all, this isn’t a big deal. Adjusting the volume on the internal speakers is the biggest inconvenience. And the speakers are just poor enough that I’m adding external speakers to it, anyway.

That is the same for any monitor with internal speakers so nothing special to complain about here. Related to that, the only other thing I wish this monitor had was a USB port just so it could power external speakers.

It would be great to have a USB port powered when the monitor turns on so it could turn on the speakers. And then turn off the speakers when the monitor turns off (and the USB port goes off). Again, not a big deal but something for Acer to consider for the future.

Overall, this is a great monitor. The folks at Rtings. com were right and this is a good monitor for the price. Recommend it.

280Hz + IPS + G-SYNC + ELMB, what more could you ask for! Asus have come in clutch with this monitor, and as long as you have a graphics card that can push that many frames, you’ll be far from disappointed! Thanks to the super bright IPS display, not only can I game, but I can edit photos and videos without the need to resort to my iPad Pro every time.

The one and only complaint that I have with this monitor is the onboard audio. Naturally, I anticipated the built-in speakers to be bad, but when I connected headphones or speakers to the monitor, the quality was far from brilliant, so I would definitely recommend sticking to the audio jacks on your PC rather thanm.

If you are looking for a high-quality computer monitor, please consider the LGUD58-B. After selling my aging iMac and purchasing a Mac mini M1, I spent several months buying 1080p monitor from several vendors before returning each as they could simply not compare with the iMac’s 4K display.

I did not want a 27 inch monitor as my space was limited. After reading several positive reviews of the LGUD58-B, I finally decided to purchase it and give it a try. I had some concern that there may be display issues with the Mac mini given comments online on M1 compatibility, but I am thrilled that the LG monitor was perfect for my setup.

The quality of the monitor is simply superb. The 4K display is virtually identical to the 4K Mac mini screen. Text is razor sharp and bright. If you are looking for a 4K monitor for your Mac mini or any other computer, give the LG UD58-B some strong consideration.

This is a second monitor sitting next to a 27”, 5k iMac Pro. Although the resolution can’t match the iMac’s, I’m finding the LG’s perfect for its slightly smaller display. I’m a writer, photographer and graphic design guy and am loving this, not only for a place to place menus, palettes, etc.

but as a perfectly good extension to open smaller canvases, due to it’s great color and high resolution. For me the resolution is perfect for the relatively smaller size. I didn’t worry so much about the stand because I’ve attached a substantial Mount It single monitor stand that is adjustable all over the place—including the capability of rotating to portrait configuration for use as a primary monitor for documents.

For the price, I can’t see how there could be many better choices. Highly recommend.

Been on a spending spree with monitors lately. In just a year, I went from HP and AOC 24inch TN 144hz 1080 to MSI 24inch VA 144hz 1080 to Asus 27inch VA 165hz 1080 and now with the AOC 27inch VA 144hz 1440p.

Too be honest, I stumbled on this by accident. I was going to get another Asus VA 165hz monitor when I saw the AOC 1440p was at the same price as the Asus 1080?!?! Jumped on it since I’ve had experience with the MSI VA panel.

Plus reviewing other websites gave it favorable reviews. Box is well packaged and comes with DP and HDMI cables. Comes with standard power cable. The stand is made of metal and adjust up/down as well as swivels.

Monitor is nicely built, but typical plastic materials. Heck, the stand weighs more than the monitor. The stand has red accent, which isn’t too obnoxious. The monitor has a red accent at the bottom and I really didn’t noticed it.

Buttons are underneath the monitor. It’s awkward navigating with the buttons and probably my least favorite part of the monitor. Would prefer joystick or nipple. However, configuration is plentiful and if you go to their website you can download their i-Menu software which works great btw.

Ok, so turning it on and seeing 1440p at 144hz is pretty impressive. Blacks is def black. Great contrast. I’m no graphics expert, but to a normal gamer who just want to play or watch videos on a clear and crisp monitor, this monitor doesn’t dissapoint.

I read all the time VA panel has ghosting issues, but personally I just can’t see it. I’ve been using TN and VA for a year now, and can’t see the difference. Both perform great. So coming from a 1080 to a 1440p, I would say it’s an improvement in clarity, but wouldn’t say it’s earth shattering impressive.

Would I go back to 1080? Prob not. Also keep in mind if you are staying with the same graphics card, you’re gonna take a hit on FPS, that’s if you’re concern with that. From what I’m seeing, I’ve lost around 15-20fps going from 1080 to 1440.

I’m not an FPS snob, so it doesn’t bother me, but for those who are, just keep that in mind. Overall, it’s a great monitor. Def love it for the price and performance.

Guys this monitor is just great. I spent ages compiling lists of monitors to buy. I wanted something inexpensive, with good gaming specs, that would hold the place of a TV while I have limited space at home, but then could transition to a great gaming monitor for the PC I plan to build.

I wanted a curved screen for better comfort, something that had an audio jack, something that was tiltable and could be raised. Something with easy adjustments to the specs but also something I might not have to adjust much.

This baby checked all those boxes. Multiple inputs? Audio out? Easy to use buttons for switching and adjusting? Man, it has all that. It’s also just a sweet looking monitor, looks great playing console games or PC games or watching a show, and was super affordable for what I got.

Highly recommend.

I love this curved monitor so much and I even bought a second one. The design is beautiful and the colour is fantastic. The sound quality is a little under expectation, but it does the job. however I just use a headset anyway.

Overall, I think you get much more for your money with this monitor than other competition. The design and build quality is way beyond the competition!.
