20 Best Dishwasher Detergent For Bosch (2023 Updated)

I’ve been using this stuff for years and also used the powdered detergent of the same brand. I love everything the company stands for but this stuff is just terrible. During the pandemic while doing more and more dishes I found that I was constantly pre-washing everything that went into the dishwasher and it still wasn’t coming out clean.

I’ve done several different cleaning methods on my dishwasher and finally decided to try the cascade natural version of detergent and everything is so clean without any pre-washing. Everything even feels smooth and clean.

I am embarrassed that it took me so long to make the switch. Yes, this company stands for and is doing great things with their products but if I am wasting more water and buying all these cleaning agents for my dishwasher it negates the purpose.

It wasn’t me, it wasn’t my dishwasher, it was the bad detergent.

I have used Seventh Generation products for decades and this dishwasher detergent is EXCELLENT. Yes, I occasionally had white residue left on the dishes but after a few tests, I determined that it was because I used just a little too much detergent for the load of dishes I washed.

Also, I have used this in older dishwashers, so if this is used in one of the newer, high efficiency models, maybe try using a little less each time to find the right amount for your machine that does not leave a residue.

This product has cleaned my dishes consistently over many years in a variety of older dishwashers, so I highly recommend.

Bought this item, actually few bottles to stock up, wanting to use something more natural. I would not recommend this particular brand. It is horrible with leaving white powdery residue on the dishes.

I have to put the dishes through an extra rinse cycle every single time. even then, sometimes doesn’t come off. Otherwise, the dishes seem to be clean. Not our dishwasher because we have new house build.

Doesn’t happen with the other brand that I was using before.

Feel this is great value for money, was using a another brand before Finish and the complete wash cycle did not produce great results. I did think at first this may be the dishwasher I had so gave the Finish tablets a go and since then have not used another brand as the results are consistently great.

The best dishwasher tablet I’ve ever used. Cleans amazingly, whereas with some finish products I had a slight powdery residue left of some plastic items, this is not an issue with this tablet. I no longer need to use the finish clip on scent as this keeps my dishwasher smelling lovely.

Apparently you don’t need rinse aid with these either but living in UK with hard water I still use this as a precaution. Really good all in one product. Only tip is ensure these are stored in a room that does not get too hot as due to how dishwasher tablets from all brands are packaged together they can become stuck together causing a lot to be wasted this was due to me placing under sink area and when dishwasher was on this area did get warmer than normal so they have sinced been moved and have not had an issue since.

Having had a dishwasher for many years I only use tablets now days. As these were on offer I got a big bag but I find they do not clean properly. Pans are left with rings in them and cups are sometimes still dirty.

Plus if I’ve cooked a strong smelling dish like lamb casserole, the dishwasher still smells afterwards. I’ve had to rewash items in my dishwasher on more than one occasion, which is the opposite of the eco friendly credentials these claim to have.

Gone back to previous tablets, as they work first time. Not sure what I’m going to do with the remainder of these as I still have 60 tablets left. Finally, if you read a review of these has been “collected as part of a promotion” they are absolutely glowing and gushing about this product.

Read the reviews where people have purchased these as the real reviews seem to offer a different experiance from the promoted ones.

Clean dishes are really important in everyone’s home. I did try many different brands that left me quite disappointed as not all the dishes went absolutely clean and shiny. This is my first time trying Finish Quantum all in 1.

So I hoped that this time I won’t need to be dissatisfied with cleaning results. I did try these capsules on different temperature setting of my dishwasher and I was surprised that everything was super clean.

Especially the glasses were shining. Besides super cleaning effect I could feel light lemon scent which empowers with clean feeling. These capsules really works perfectly on different temperature setting from the highest to lowest and leaves all the dishes super clean! Highly recommended!.

I thought I would try and save some money and try these as they have good reviews. Big mistake for me! They do good with actual glassware, and OK on most ceramic dishes. But they are terrible with anything plastic! They leave a funky white film all over anything plastic.

They also just don’t clean as well as the Cascade, and they leave that wierd film all over the inside of my dishwasher, being stainless steel inside as opposed to white plastic things like that show up.

I ended up with a lot of build up on everything inside that my usual detergent never leaves as it cleans the dishwasher while cleaning the dishes. I ended up having to do a couple of empty runs adding cleaning vinegar to the water when it filled to cycle through and clean everything out again.

I will just stick to buying the Finish liquid separate and sticking to my usual Cascade.

I am a new homeowner and a member of Seventh Generation’s Generation Good Advocates community. I tested the difference between how well the detergent packs (or “pouches” as I call them) cleaned versus the powder Seventh Generation product.

I’ve used both in the past but I had the opportunity to receive the pouches product for free as a member. The first difference I noticed was the plastic pouch. I have been attempting to rid my household of plastic so this would deter me at the grocery store.

I have read as well that the pouches themselves contain micro plastic that enter our waterways so this would also encourage me to switch sides. While using both products I did not notice any discernible difference in cleaning power.

I would gravitate more so to the powder form of detergent from a recycling standpoint HOWEVER I do not believe that I can recycle the box as I believe it is covered in a very thin layer of plastic as well.

The pouches are slightly more convenient (as I do not have to carefully pour in grains of detergent). The boxes of powder really last, it seems like we do a zillion loads before we have to buy more. I don’t have extensive experience with other cleaning detergents because I am very content with the final product of my dishes.

The only suggestion I would make is to spruce up the recycling aspect of the product and stay away from that nasty plastic. I would stick with the powder form as I believe it cleans just as well as the pouches, it is not in a plastic pouch that dissolves into my water as it cleans my dishes, one box lasts a looonnnggg time, and I can add as little or as much detergent as I want with each load.

I have been using seventh generation dishwasher soap for years and love it. I prefer the powder over liquids or individually wrapped pods because I use this all over my house. It is strong enough to cut through grease and grime yet gentle enough it doesn’t damage anything In the kitchen of course in the dishwasher, and I fill the sink with half-one cup of powder, once dissolved using hot water I put my burner racks from the stove or BBQ ,exhaust fan filters, i use it to clean stained thermos, I use it all over the kitchen.

A little goes a long way. Be sure to rinse well In the laundry a couple of TBS in the washer before you add laundry for easy loads. OR I dissolve it in hot water and soak the kitchen towels and dishrag to prevent or help cut thru grease and odors, same with bath towels, any rugs, Sports and gym gear.

We had an antique tub refinished and we can’t use anything abrasive, so I dissolve up 1/2 C in warm water and know this is gentle enough to not damage but cuts thru the soap and hard water film. I apply it with a soft rag in small areas and after a few minutes use the same rag to wipe, rinse well and Next section.

Outdoor furniture, walls, the list goes on. I can’t live without this. Especially where I cannot use the walnut sponges from grove I highly recommend.

I bought this to try after our new dishwasher wouldn’t clean anything. I knew the problem was with the dishwasher, but Bosch, the repair person, and the store we bought it from all insisted there was nothing wrong with the machine, so I bought this to try after reading reviews on Consumer Reports.

It didn’t arrive until we decided to eat the cost and buy another dishwasher, but in the new dishwasher it tied with one other detergent for getting the dishes clean and spot free (and that is without using a rinse aid); we had 8 different detergents that we tested, left over from when we were trying to find something that would clean the dishes in our previous dishwasher.

That being said, I will never buy the product again, because newer research has show that the polyvinyl alcohol used to make the pods is not eco-friendly like was first claimed. I will never by a pod product again and it amazes me that people are willing to put up with the environmental damage the pods cause because it is apparently too difficult to scoop out your own detergent (I realize that a new scoop in each bag is also bad for the environment, but I’ve bought detergents that come as refills without a scoop and ones that include a stainless or bamboo scoop instead of plastic, so manufacturers could make their products a lot more eco friendly if they wanted to and if consumers didn’t complain).

Luckily, the detergent it tied with works just as well, is more eco-friendly, and doesn’t come in a pod.

If I could give this dishwasher detergent extra stars I would! We have a very expensive dishwasher that would not work when we first bought our home. Every time we would wash the dishes in the dishwasher, it would be left with residue in the dishes were not be clean.

We were so frustrated that we almost bought a new dishwasher until we started using this detergent, which changed everything. It seems my dishwasher is extremely happy with us detergent and leaves our dishes sparkling clean.

I purchased the Finish quantam dishwasher detergent recently. This detergent does a great job of cleaning dishes and making them sparkly clean afterwards. No powder reside was left behind like other brands have done before.

The price is affordable and this bag will last you awhile. I do recommend this product!.

I received this product for complementary from influenster for testing purposes. No need to pre-soak dishes and It saves me a lot of time when multitasking or when I’m just to lazy or tired. It did a good job removing off grease and stains of dishes.

It also left my glasses and utensils sparkling clean. What also worked for me is using hot water and putting them at a angle that way the sprayer gets the dishes. It also helped keep my dishes clean by scrubbing off large tough stains/particles like dried ketchup, pasta etc and put them on the bottom of the rack of dishwasher (only dishwasher safe on bottom rack) that way it gets a good flow of water.

What I don’t do is overload dishes because it won’t efficiently clean them. The rest I’ll just hand wash them. But It did a good job leaving my dishes every clean and a good decent fresh smell. I would recommend these to others.

I got the 92 pack at COSTCO as we love the platinum. 2 boys and tons of dishes. This time however, the dishes are left with a STRONG lemon scent that has ruined numerous lunches already. I tried extra rinses and still the lemon scent hangs out.

My wife cannot eat from any container washed with this new purchase. Never had this issue with Cascade pods in the past. It is not the lemon version either. Not labeled that way and no yellow gel. Double checked my receipt and even if it were the product would be bad as it not only smells too strong it has a taste.

Could be the scent is still so powerful we taste the smell, but that doesn’t really matter as it has the same effect. I hate wasting money and this is one that I am going to have to give up on. Every setting on, yes a new and wonderful dishwasher, plus hand rinsing and drying with very limited improvement.

I might try a small bag from another store, but if it comes out the same we have to switch brands. Tyler.

I bought these because my usual Platinum pods weren’t in stock, and I thought I’d take advantage of the slightly better price. Detergent is detergent, right? Not when it comes to these pods! The cleaning power is significantly worse in terms of scrubbing action and film left on the dishes.

I even tried Power Wash on my recently-purchased dishwasher, but that didn’t help. Just to make sure I wasn’t crazy, I put a leftover Platinum pod in the next load, and the dishes were once again clean and crystal clear! Unfortunately I tossed the original container, or I would have returned these to the store.

Instead, I bought Platinum pods and will throw the remaining 100 out. These are NOT worth the few cents per pod savings.

The product is fine. It’s the terrible manner in which you have to now check out using the selfserve cashier machine. I was supposed to receive $10 in extra bucks if I purchased $30 of dishwashing or laundry products.

So I did just that but the selfserve cashier machine cheated me out of my $10 coupon and there was no one available to help me. The same day I was supposed to get another $3 off a product I bought and the machine screwed that up too.

I lost $13 on this visit. I will never shop front of store in this CVS again. I will still use the pharmacy. I will shop in the other CVS store across town if I need front of store items because they have a cashier working there most days I enter the store.

I like these that they are free and clear of toxic ingredients but the only thing is sometimes they do not allows completely dissolve where I put them in the dishwasher so I have to put it on another cycle again.

Maybe it’s my dishwasher which is a Bosch i don’t know but will still keep buying them.

Sometimes my flatware doesn’t come out as sparkling as I’d like but I will continue to buy these tablets. It’s very important to me that products aren’t tested on animals and I also appreciate that the wrapper dissolves, making it eco-friendlier.

This was on sale so I decided to try it and I am so glad I did! This is the absolute best dishwasher detergent I have ever used. My dishes come out sparkling clean and spot free each time and I have noticed that my stainless interior in the dishwasher is sparkling and spot free also.

Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent Packs Free & Clear are obviously different from other products right at the jump; the packs are pure white & not artificially colored. The package even says “0% fragrances, dyes & chlorine bleach.

” The ingredients are largely plant and mineral based, do not include animals or is tested on them, and USDA Certified Biobased Product 78% all which I like a lot. In terms of cleaning it did an excellent job on dishes, glassware and utensils.

Everything came out clean & sparkling, and no perfume fragrance either which I like because my dishes should have no chemicals lingering on them. I run the dishwasher at least every day & often my stainless cookware goes in as well, they really need a good cleaning after cooking, and again all came out clean with no debris left behind.

I am very happy with the performance of the 2-sample pack & I would recommend these dishwasher packs to others. I received the product for free as a member of Seventh Generation’s Generation Good Advocates community.

I usually use liquid diswasher detergent for my dishes, so this was a new change. So i tried the free samples that I received in 3 consecutive loads in order to provide my opinion on the product. I did like the “pack” concept, as it made for a non-messy application of the detergent.

As far as getting the dishes clean and sanitized, it did the job well, with a nice subtle “clean” scent. Honestly, it did about as well as my current liquid detergent. But I like that it is made with better ingredients because the product I use now probably contains more “chemical” ingredients that these packs.

So I like that a lot. The fact that these packs are made with plant material is certainly likely to be better for the enviornment, so a definate plus. In all, I thought it did a great job! Like most anything else, as long as the price is competitve, I just may start using these instead of my current product!.

After using other Seventh Generation household products, I had high hopes for this one, but I was a bit disappointed in its performance. I used these packs as I normally would, and on the types of dishes I normally wash.

I found that my dishwasher didn’t smell very good after running it with one of these packs in it. It had a stale, dirty dishes type of smell to it. I know these detergent packs are free of fragrance, but I still expected the dishwasher to not have a bad smell.

I also noticed that some of my dishes (mainly stainless steel items) didn’t look clean when using this product. There were some tarnished spots and not all of the food residue was completely washed away.

I do appreciate having the ingredient list on the packaging and being able to see how most of the ingredients are mineral or plant-based so it makes me feel better about using it. I received a free product for the purpose of my honest review.

Normally I don’t really put much thought into the scent of dishwasher pods. As long as they work well and aren’t harmful to the environment, I’m good. I first bought these GrabGreen pods on a whim last year, and I’ve been buying them ever since.

The thyme with fig leaf scent is probably one of the nicest I’ve ever smelled. After the dishwasher has done its thing, I leave the door ajar and let the pleasant aroma fill my kitchen. As strange as it sounds, it reminds me of one of my favorite comfort foods: fiocchi with cheese and pear.

A while ago , a friend gave me the Dawn pot soaker soap ,for a pot that a neighbor borrowed but it was given back with burnt on food. Which I cried , I tried almost all the things people & even the manufactor told me to do , but nothing worked.

So a friend gave me her Dawn pot soaker which I did not want to use due to chemicals but to save the pot I used , which it did get a lot of gunk off the pot but still left some gunk so I placed a wad of paper towels in the pot & put it on top of baker’s rack , kind of like out of sight out of mind.

Then I seen these & thought one last hope for the pot instead of collecting dust and a reminder not to loan out things I love. I used two pods the first night & wow the two took off more gunk then the whole bottle of Dawn , so I the next night I tried two more , and that did it & I even made a big pot of beans in it which husband was just waiting to taste soap since I used so much but nope beans were awesome , these work , will keep on hand.

My daughter made angel food cake in a glass 9×9 pan and accidentally burnt it. She got as much out as she could and then soaked in in the sink for 2 days. When I went to do dishes last night there was no amount of scrubbing to get the burnt mess out.

I remember several months ago I bought these pods so I gave them a try. I put it in the pan, added hot water and swished it around with a fork to dissolve it. I waited less than 10 minutes and it all came right out with the exception of one tiny spot that came clean with a little scrubbing.

Absolutely amazing product and it smells delicious too.

I have a Bosch 18” dishwasher and these are the only pacs i will use. The pacs with the powder or ball in them don’t dissolve, I would see traces of powder inside and have to run an extra rinse only cycle—maybe cause of the smaller size unit and the amount of water?? These being liquid only do a great job cleaning and are totally gone when the cycle is finished.

I always wash and fill my coffee maker in the evening using hot water, just before turning on the dishwasher so the hot water is right there immediately and I think that helps too. There are no “18” inch dishwasher pacs and I don’t want a bottled liquid.

I have used this product for my dishwasher and it has been okay. I have a box of 32 gel packs. But this box has gelpacs that are so stuck together that I can’t get them apart. Cutting doesn’t work without puncturing some of them.

I had to discard 6 so far and I am not done with the box yet. I think you should reimburse me for these spoiled gelpacs. It is not a cheap product and I am a senior on a rigid budget.

I have a newer steel tub Whirlpool dishwasher and very hard water. These work great and seem to decrease buildup of deposits in the dishwasher. The scent is light and does not leave a taste on the dishes, unlike other high performing National brands.

I used to use the powerball but may switch to these because they are a great value, lots of packs in the box!.

Dishwashing pods are one of the greatest inventions out there and my preference is the gel pacs. Especially buying bulk because the “powered” pods dry out or harden up and don’t correctly dissolve. This is my experience anyways.

The gel packs are different. They contain a liquid form detergent. So far I’ve had no issues with them, I’m confident I could store this product in bulk quantities. But the main thing is performance.

Although they do look soft and squishy and fun. they can cut through hardened cereal or oatmeal like you wouldn’t believe! My kids like to sneak in the kitchen in the middle of the night and eat then leave their dirty dishes out for mom the next morning.

these gel packs have enough cleaning power to cut they’re dirty messes! Thank goodness, because I hate pre washing! My life is a rush anyways, who has time for pre washing! There is a small scent of citrus.

It’s not very potent but it’s there and fine with me. I also don’t use any other agent like to prevent spots or pre-cleaner. My dishes have been coming out spot free, and clean just fine. For comparison, this product can hold its own to other name brand pods.

They work just as good and for me that main thing of not having to prewash. The one down side to using a gel pack is they can rupture. Just be careful handling them, they’re not that fragile. The main thing is not having wet hands when handling them.

So far I’ve had no explosions! Oh and keep them stored out of reach from kiddos of course. The storage container is just a cardboard box that it comes in, which I transfer to my “dish pod” container and I’m able to recycle the box.

Just a preference to transfer to a sealed container it’s not necessary. Anyways I’m happy with the results. These gel packs lived up to expectations. They cut through hardened food and even burnt, stick food on a skillet.

I have seen any water spots either. My dishes always look good with that sparkling shine. I would certainly recommend.

This is by far the WORST dishwasher detergent I’ve ever encounter. It doesn’t clean and leave my entire load dirtier than they were before the wash. I had to hand wash the load after. Tried again the 2nd night, this time prewash everything and made sure my dishes weren’t oily and no food stuck on them.

Still the same. Had to rewash everything. How eco-friendly is that?? I’m not against earth-friendly product, in fact, I’ve been using the Seventh Generation powder / gel and am pretty satisfy with the results, so I thought I’d upgrade to the “Ultra Power Plus” since their regular dishwashing detergent can’t get rid of tea / coffee stain.

I’d give this product a zero star if that’s an option!.

I’ve been buying this for several years and it is the best of the natural dishwashing liquids I’ve found. It actually cuts the grease well. It has a different formula, I believe, from the regular dishwashing liquid made by 7th Generation.

I don’t know why this is not promoted better, as I sometime have great difficulty locating this particular product. I won’t bother with the regular version, with all the different scent options–they don’t do the job.

Unfortunately, I’m on a quest to find a new favorite, since I haven’t been able to find it in a few months.

While I love the idea of healthier, more natural products, there’s nothing to love if it just doesn’t work. When I used this product, my dishes just didn’t come out that clean. Nobody wants to pay for, or even just use, something that doesn’t work well.

I ended up washing half of my dishes by hand, which was an annoying and frustrating waste of time and money. Love the idea, but I’m sorry, it just didn’t work well for me. I switched back to a get-it-done brand.

After reading a good review by Consumer Reports I tried these. These dishwasher pacs clean well, but the cleaning is too harsh for aluminum. The exterior of my aluminum nonstick skillet and my aluminum baking pan both changes from a shiny aluminum color to a dull gray color.

Product has performed at least as well as the powder + liquid spot-free drying agent we used before. We wash with well water with only a typical activated-charcoal silt filter, and we always air dry the loads.

We usually wash after hot water is run in the sink until it is hot. Dishes and silverware are clean and glasses are spot-free. No perfume odor noticed from the dry dishes. We are 2/3 through the first container of the packs and there is no build-up anywhere in the washing arms or anywhere else that we can see.

Great product so far as we’re concerned.

These are the best dish washer packs for the best price, and you get a count of 105. Even if you run your dish washer three times a day, which is a lot in my opinion, but that’s still 35 days worth of dishwasher packs.

No mess from spilling dishwasher powder from a pouring box, no messy gels, perfect sized packs that get my dishes spotless, and I hate for there to be soap residue on my glasses, this is really a great dish washer product that is large in count and a fair price.

Will rebuy as soon as I run out of my previous 105 count, which honestly would last my household from anywhere to 50-100 washes!! (Two to three months worth of product).

I started buying Cascade at Sam’s and it washes so much better than the off brands I had been getting at the grocery store. Our dishes are definitely cleaner, and this is a good value purchase. It also smells nice while the dishwasher is running.

I say that because I have bought dishwasher detergent in the past that smelled weird, ok very bad, while the dishwasher was running! I will always buy this over the pods, more for the money. It is heavy though, so if you are someone with issues with your hands, the pods may be better for you.

But all around, I think Cascade makes great dishwasher products.

I used to use a version of liquid Cascade with Oxi that I actually used to clean my sink. It was like a lighter version of Soft Scrub. I also make ice tea by the gallon and it always cleaned my pitcher, ice tea glasses and reusable straws where I’d pour the cascade into the straw as it sat in the silverware holder in the dishwasher.

Then, that version was no longer made. I found a couple jugs online and I hoarded them just for ice tea stains. I was VERY happy to find this version of Cascade! Unfortunately, it’s not available at my grocery store but I found it at Sam’s! It works just like the old version so I’m very happy with this product! I think I’ll hoard a couple bottles just in case they stop making it again!.

Really wish I could buy this in store. It’s plastic free, blessedly unscented, has minimal health warnings even if accidentally swallowed, and does a great job with no residue. The ingredients are clean too, so it’s everything we’re looking for in a detergent.

I don’t over soap and I don’t expect dish detergent to perform miracles either so I do pre-rinse things that need it before I load the machine, but this detergent leaves sparkling clean glasses, streak free silverware and glossy ceramic even in the same load as a (pre-rinsed) greasy frying pan.

The only thing we don’t love? The local Target doesn’t carry it. When we tried to have it shipped, it arrived as loose powder leaking out of a severely damaged box and a ripped plastic bag. I wouldn’t recommend shipping it.

But if you see it on the shelves at your local store, buy it. It’s a steal compared to other brands, too.

I am genuinely surprised by all the positive reviews here. This dishwasher detergent leaves a white powder film after each use. I’ve been trying to make it work by rinsing after the dishwasher is done.

They seriously need to recall this product. They advertise this as a SAFE Product. The white powder can’t be good for our health. I have never had this problem with any other dishwasher detergent brands in the past.

Purchased this last week as I have used and like other Seventh Generation products. I noticed after removing plates, mugs, glasses etc from dishwasher there was a white grainy residue on everything. I ran them through an additional rinse cycle in hopes it would remove the residue.

unfortunately it did not. I do not have any issues with other brands of dishwashing gel. residue. unfortunately it removed some but not all.
