20 Best Dish Soap For Hands (2023 Updated)

I really wanted to love this dish soap. For the limited ingredients. We went through two bottles. Nearly every time, it took 2-4 times the amount of soap to wash dishes as other “natural” or “Eco” brands such as 7th Gen.

It didn’t matter if we used it in our dish wand, or poured it directly into dish pan with agitation. It took very little grease to dissipate bubbles and cleaning action. Many times I had to dump and refill the dishwashing tub several times to clean dishes for two adults, including cookware.

Having went back to 7th gen for the past week, it is just a huge difference. Not only did it take a tiny amount, the sudsing and cleaning residue lasted a long time. Even after the water was cold. Even when I found wine glasses to wash AFTER the pots and pans.

Better Life is a no go for us. At a cost of 2-4 x per bottle based on what it takes to clean items. Not economical.

Let me start by saying that I have been using the famous name brand blue liquid for many years. Having occasionally tried other brands I have always returned to the genuine product – often without even finishing a bottle of any of the copies.

ECOS doesn’t attempt to look like my regular brand but a comparison with the largest national brand still seems inevitable. The most obvious difference between ECOS and the famous national brand is that ECOS is clear.

I can’t say that the color really makes any difference, I suspect that ECOS chose clear to emphasize their “Free and Clear” attributes, but I’ve never noticed any fragrance or ‘allergic’ nature with the national brand dish soap which has long advertised its gentle nature with ads touting its use to clean up wildlife impacted by oil spills.

So far as I can see, clear or blue doesn’t make any difference. One other difference that I noticed as soon as I used ECOS, is that the liquid is just a bit thinner than the big national brand product.

If you squirt it straight onto a dish or pan, it runs a bit more rather than sticking right were you squirted it. In some ways I suppose one might be better, but overall I didn’t notice any advantage either way.

So far as cutting grease or food residue on plates or pots and pans, I never saw any noticeable difference in how well either brand worked. I’ve used the entire 25 ounce bottle of ECOS and I would say that I used pretty much the same amount that I would have used of the big national brand and ECOS worked just as well — not really an better, not really any worse.

I suppose that careful testing might find one product better than the other, but in regular use I didn’t see any difference. ECOS is priced a little less per ounce than the big national brand, so I’d say it is definitely worth a try.

Although we’ve been purchasing the Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme from our local health food store, we had planned on purchasing from Vitacost, mostly for convenience since we are ordering other items.

However, the site indicates the Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme is out of stock. Briefly, this product not only cleans kitchenware extremely well (while also removing stubborn food odors from plastic storage containers) but we discovered a value-added bonus to Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme.

It also does an exceptional job of removing stubborn, even stale (some scrubbing required for stale stains) stains including, but not limited to, tomato, grape, blueberry even blood stains and more. In fact, Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme does a better job than costly products specifically designed for removing (allegedly!) laundry stains from our experiences.

Great ingredients, exceptional overall quality, outstanding, versatile product. Vitacost, you need to restock this item. In fact, stocking the 128 oz, even the 32 oz, Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme would be an excellent decision.

While we’re hesitant to recommend products or refer services, we highly recommend Biokleen Dish Liquid Lemon Thyme, from Vitacost. IF they ever get this outstanding product back in inventory.

I am very impressed with Biokleen products, especially this dish liquid and their laundry soaps. For some reason, healthy dish and laundry products don’t measure up to their toxic counterparts, but Biokleen has solved this problem.

This dish liquid requires less and gets greasy stuff squeaky clean. It works! It’s has a thickness you’d expect from dish liquid, not runny like some healthy brands. As an added bonus, the bottle itself looks and feels much better than other brands.

This is important to me, since it sits out on my counter. Biokleen not only does a great job with their formulas, but their bottles are designed very well.

This dish soap does an amazing job. It cuts through grease very well and rinses clean. It has a great smell and isn’t harsh on hands. Would highly recommend.

I bought this as a “COVID product” when all of my regular dish soaps were sold out. I have been using it for the last month or so. Performance for its intended purpose of washing dishes by hand (I do not use a dishwasher) is unsatisfactory.

The scent is somewhat lemony, but almost imperceptible. It is a thin liquid that does not make many suds. That was disappointing, because foaming soaps are essential in removing bacteria from surfaces.

Does not leave dishes feeling very clean without hand-drying. sub-par at removing grease. Most surprisingly, contains about 35 ingredients – sure, they are “plant-based”, but plants contains chemicals as well, as the long chemical names on the label indicate.

Not sure why so many plant components are needed to provide the soap effect I am looking for. Also leaves a white, crusty residue around the spout, have not seen that with other cleaning products. It works in a pinch, but I would rather have my regular dish soap anytime for getting dishes clean.

Also, this product is more expensive than comparable dish soaps. COVID emergency purchase only for me.

I’ve been purchasing Seventh Generation dish soap for a long time as part of my efforts in environmental preservation. Lately, I’ve been using the Ultra Power Plus with excellent cleaning results. I was forced to purchase another plant based dish soap a month ago as my store shelves were completely out of Seventh Generation.

That other product didn’t even come close to the cleaning power of Seventh Generation’s products. Additionally, I needed to use much more of their product to achieve lesser results. Fortunately this shopping trip included a purchase of Seventh Generation.

I made a casserole last night that spilled over and made the pan quite a mess. I set the pan in very warm Seventh Generation Ultra Power Plus sudsy water and then went to fold & put away a basket of towels.

When I returned to the sink, I was able to wash the pan using just a dishcloth. It came out perfectly clean!! Thank you for an excellent product!!.

Seventh Generation’s Dish Liquid Soap works well, smells fantastic, and is EPA Safer Choice Certified. As a member of the Generation Good Community, I received a free bottle to try at home in exchange for my honest review.

Packaging: Larger cap – ease of opening the bottle. The top lip of the cap is much larger versus other brands I’ve used and appreciate since many times one must pop open the bottle with wet hands midway through washing dishes, and can see this being good for younger kiddos and older seniors.

The cap and bottle are made from 100% recycled plastic (yay!) and fully recyclable at home (double yay!) – meaning I can toss it in my recycle bin for weekly pickup versus having to take it to a special facility.

Ingredients: I received the newest scent Chamomile and Lemon and it is delightful! The smell is bright, herbally, refreshing, and citrusy but not overpowering – a good clean smell with no artificial fragrances.

The soap is clear, not unnecessarily dyed, and 100% biodegradable; I feel good knowing it’s one small way I can help minimize mucking up our water systems plus safe to use around my human and fur babies.

Effectiveness: I washed dishes on three separate days in order to test the performance on a variety of crud. All of my pots and pans are hand washed and I cook a lot in these pandemic times. Sometimes cookware gets left overnight, fully knowing it will be harder to clean the next day.

Or I find my preschooler’s dirty spoon/snack bowl from 3 days ago, outside, with mudpies on it, right after having filled and started the dishwasher. You know, real-life stuff. This dish soap tackled it all with no problems.

I’m assuming here, but if I needed to wash oil off a baby duck – I’d feel confident 7th gen’s dish soap would work equally as well as conventional brands but I’d feel a whole lot better using 7th gen’s clear and cleanly made soap.

After using soooo so many different dishwashing liquids over many years, I’ve come to the conclusion that the original Dawn dishwashing liquid is by far the absolute best of all for washing dishes and MORE! Recently, sent my husband to pick me up dishwashing liquid at a store close to our home and specifically directed him to get the blue Dawn liquid.

this one I am reviewing, among other things. Well in true husband fashion, he brings me home a gigantic bottle of some of brand / generic I’d never even heard of. I could tell it was going to be pure crap because when I shook it a tad to check it’s consistency, it was incredibly watery n I dreaded using the stuff that night until I could get out in the morning for my Dawn.

After having to make a bowl of dishwater with this soap about 3 times to do some dishes, I simply count this experience with this crappy dish liquid as a learning experience as well as a moment in which to be ever so grateful to know and love my fave dishwashing liquid, Dawn original! There is certainly a positive in all things indeed!.

Can’t say I cleaned oil off of a ducks back, but Dawn dishwashing liquid helps. Whether by hand or in your dishwasher, this definitely gets rid of stuck on foods and stains. A little bit of elbow grease, can go a long way with this one.

I think it’s among the best. You can find it at a host of stores. A lot of time I get it when grocery shopping. The bottle is easy to open and squeeze. I like how quickly the liquid is dispensed. Also I appreciate the scent being there, but my goodness some of the competitors are pungent on ones olfactory nerves.

This one isn’t. It cleans and makes your dishes and plates shine. That’s what it is supposed to do, and I find it a cost effective and durable product.

Hands down the best dish washing detergent. It is worth the price to purchase this if you want your dishes clean with less product. Other brands you need to use more to get the same cleaning power. This smells good too.

This cuts through the toughest grease even on plastic ware. Cut through baked burnt on food on my aluminum pans For burnt on food… add water and squeeze of Dawn and wait a few minutes. Comes off no problem.

This also does not strip the oils from my hands. Highly recommend if you don’t have a dishwasher.

So my boyfriend and I went to the grocery store this past weekend and next to my normal blue dawn dish soap was the four time platinum dish soap so I told him maybe I’ll buy that instead but I thought wow it’s more money for a smaller bottle.

So I bought it anyways because I wanted to see if it worked any better than the Blue Dawn which the regular blue dawn works Great. So I was washing dishes a couple nights ago with this soap and I thought I love the smell of it I think it’s the fresh rain or something like that.

So I put it in my pan that the blue dawn would work but I used to have to scrub even harder than what I just did the other night with this four times Platinum soap. I came back to it an hour later and everything was lifted and up to the top of the water I was like holy crap are you kidding me this stuff works amazing.

So the next morning not even thinking about it I went into my basement and we have been having a lot of issues with our wash tub and the drain in our basement floor with the water backing up and we really didn’t have the money to call the plumber because they said the next time they would come out it would cost us between 5 and $600 or more depending on what they had to do.

My boyfriend and I three weeks ago when we started having the plugging issues we bought some plumbing stuff and some of it seemed to work just a little tiny bit but not much and I’m not going to put any other brands out here even though it’s all plumbing stuff It seemed like the last thing we used worked a lot better but the water was still going down in the wash tub very slowly still but it was moving a little faster but our floor was still backing up and we couldn’t understand why.

Anyways to get to the main part of the story here I had used the Dawn Platinum for all of my dishes the night before And when I left the water go into the sink to drain it made a weird noise and I was like what the heck is that again not questioning it.

The next morning I went down to do a load of laundry and all of the water that was on the floor was down into the drain in the floor and the water was down 6 in into that drain and it hasn’t been like that in over a month.

So me being the savvy cleaning person that I am I put down a quarter cup of baking soda 2 cups of vinegar along with probably three tablespoons of the dish soap and let me tell you that water coming out of the drain is not black and sludgy anymore and the water is staying down.

I’m definitely going to do a review of this dish soap on my YouTube channel because when I find something that is my go-to that really works I want to put it out there because I’m an honest person and if something doesn’t work I’m not going to write a review on it or take my time to make a video on it if it’s not true.

I’ll give my honest opinion about something but I’m not going to boast or brag about something that works when it doesn’t. Thank you Dawn for saving the day. You do not know how much money you saved me by buying a $4 bottle of dish soap.

I love the original Blue Dawn but I’ve developed Multiple Chemical Sensitivity during the past 8+ years due to overexposure to fragrances & man made scents. I understand the use of alcohol in your product fumes but they’re are practically intolerable.

I tried a different brand altogether – “the juice of one whole lemon” was used in their adverts to give you a hint. it seems they’ve started to use lemon essential oil in their dish soap. You can’t rinse the feel off unless you stand there for 5-10 minutes trying to rinse the slimy feel off.

Fragrance-free means just that. It’s not the same as unscented which usually means a masking fragrance has been added to cover up the chemical smells. I’m honestly considering the use of baking soda to wash my dishes, pots, utensils, etc.

from now on. I honestly don’t know why people want some flowery smell clinging to their hands or washed items. It’s like the folks who use plug-ins in their kitchen. It’s oil droplets that help the stink get released into the air.

We breathe it in, our kids and pets breathe it in and after years of use, it leaves a film on everything. Maybe I missed one of your fragrance-free dish soaps but I’ve yet to find any on my local store shelves.

Get rid of the fragrances. Please!.

I have been the queen of cheap dish detergents for way too long. Suds that only last for a few seconds, ineffective cleaning, thin, watery liquids – enough already! Someone actually gave me the Dawn EZ-Squeeze, and the difference is astounding.

I just left a container of dirty dishes soaking in Dawn while I went to my basement for about 15 minutes. When I returned, the mound of suds was STILL there. That was impressive! There has never been a doubt that Dawn cleans better than other dish detergents, and that is still the case.

Now, on top of all those compliments, I can add the thrill of a lid that isn’t messy. I’ve been pouring dishwashing liquids into other (pump) containers, but they all dribble. Between that and the caked goo that always forms on other dish detergent containers, I had pretty much reconciled myself to accepting this unsolvable problem.

SOMEONE at Proctor and Gamble came up with this brilliant new container, the EQ-Squeeze. (By the way, mine doesn’t leak at all and is easy to squeeze. ) He or she deserves a big promotion. What a wonderful invention this is.

Until this bottle wears out, I intend to buy refills and transfer other bottles to this one. Thanks for bringing me back to DAWN. No more DOLLAR STORE off brands for this ol’ girl! At the age of 69, I deserve this little extravagance.

I did not carefully examine the label when I purchased this product and put it directly into my sink dispenser. It is not cutting grease on my dishes, pots and pans so I looked at the bottle and now see that it is a hand soap! The words “hand soap”are in small letters on the front.

The back of the bottle reads: ” Use for handwashing to decrease bacteria on the skin”. Walmart advertises this as a dishwashing soap. IT IS NOT! The active ingredient is chloroxylenol 0. 3% , which I do not want on my dishes anyway.

Cheap moves. It ‘looks’ like the same size and it says it’s the same products but it certainly doesn’t work the same. It takes at least twice the amount of soap to do the same job it did before. You don’t think people would notice that? What a disappointment, Blue Dawn was my dish soap of choice for years.

I don’t know what you did to it, but you do. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying your products anymore. Thanks for all the clean dishes!.

I bought this last week, thinking it was dishwashing liquid, but the bottle says it is antibacterial hand soap, that is for hand washing and doesn’t say anything at all about washing dishes with it. So, is it for dishes or not? If it is not, then it should be in a differently shaped bottle than your dishwashing liquids and be shelved with the hand soaps.

I love Dawn products but this labeling is very confusing and needs to be clarified.

The primary purpose for buying Method Dish Soap in clementine scent was to fill the soap dispenser that is part of the faucet in the kitchen & built into the sink. I planned to buy Method’s cucumber gel hand soap, but for months, it’s been out of stock more than in & never when I was fortunate enough to catch it.

Given the givings, Method dish soap refill does a wonderful job. Granted, it doesn’t quite have the grease cutting abilities of that certain blue dish soap, tho I can’t name one that does; however, there is a major convenience in having Method dish soap in the kitchen sink soap dispenser.

For starters, it is less messy. All it takes is a couple pumps from the dispenser onto a clean Skoy pad or E-Cloth scrubby to make quick work of the occasional glass, coffee cup, or soiled saucer so it doesn’t sit out most of the day until there are enough dirty dishes to justify running the dishwasher.

Even though Method dish soap doesn’t quite hit the grease cutting ability of the blue bottle, there is a silver lining. In taking the convenient route of using the built in soap dispenser, I’ve discovered that Method dish soap doesn’t strip my hands of natural oils; it seems to actually put them back.

In reaching for Method dish soap first, I haven’t needed to reach for hand lotion as frequently. Best of all, the kitchen smells amazing! All things said, I’ve now added Method dish soap in clementine to my other favorites including Method Shower Spray (ylang ylang), Method gel hand soap (cucumber), Method Concentrated Laundry Detergent (Fresh Air), & Method Laundry Pack (Beach Sage).

Other than the amazing fragrances, I’ve started using Method products more frequently because they offer refill sizes. I’d much rather use the built-in dispensers such as that in the kitchen sink, buy glass style bottles in complementing colors in the laundry room & other bathrooms.

Taking advantage of refill sizes often saves money too. The Method company does need to work on distribution of refill pouches along with making them more affordable & easier to access. There are far too many people who are going into stores buying large quantities of trending Method refill products (other brands as well), then selling them online for outrageous prices leaving many with no alternative but to pay it.

Not only is this costing customers a fortune, it is making it difficult to find the more popular fragranced items in the store & online through Method’s distributors. I’m immunocompromised as well as legally blind.

Due to the dangers of Covid to my health, I shop as little as possible outside of delivery or pickup. I don’t live close enough to a Target store for delivery.

Method has great products. Truly cover all the categories that are important to me. Plant based ingredients, clean very well, smell really nice, economical. My dish cloth never smell weird. Soap rinses off very well, no residue like other chemical based brands.

I’m being converted to Method products now. Each time I try one of their products, I want to try more. Impressed.

Truly the new bottle is sexy with its skinny minimalist look. But the little pump head is a nightmare. Its hard to press down and sticks. With more downward pressure, it causes the soap to spit out with force enough to hit the opposite side of my sink wall ( I keep the bottle sitting in my sink corner).

The old bottle top pump was four times the size of the new one and much smoother to use but unfortunately it would break if over tightened when refilling so I understand the need for redesign. And the old bottle base was wide and stable- it did not fall over on my sink rack unlike the new skinny model that can’t balance on the beam.

Couldn’t you just fix the old pump so it wouldn’t snap when tightened? Skinny minimalist is not my style.

I have found this dish soap to be excellent and makes washing my dishes a lot easier, especially since I don’t currently have a dishwasher. One downside is I feel like I go through it really quickly, since the liquid comes out quite fast.

Perhaps if they changed the cap to be more similar to mainstream dish soaps (e. g. Dawn), not as much liquid would come out each time I use it, and it would last longer. Otherwise fantastic product!.

I am pleased with this dish soap – it suds up nicely, cleans well and it received an A rating from the EWG. However, I do not love the bottle. In my opinion, way too much product flows out of the top when using, so you have to be careful not to overpour soap.

A different bottle top that helped control the pour would be my suggestion. Otherwise, this is a great environmentally-friendly choice for handwashing dishes.

As others have pointed out, the labeling is confusing. For labeling design, it deserves some sort of special, last place award. I put it in the bathroom. My wife moved it to the kitchen. Is it hand soap? Is it dishwashing liquid? Was it designed for hands or dishes? Skin is different from hard porcelain, glass, stainless steel and plastic and I don’t particulaly want what might be designed to work well on baked-on, caramelized mozarrella to spend much time on my hands.

So what exactly benefits from 50% less scrubbing? Wait, a sliced apple, as pictured? Can’t be! Oh, it has apple blossom scent – even though that’s not a blossom. Wait again, there’s a little asterisk – less scrubbing vs.

dishwashing liquid. Oh, but I don’t scrub my hands with dishwashing liquid, so why compare? It’s in a bottle with a shape commonly used for dishwashing liquids, yet it clearly says hand soap, front and back.

Nowhere does the labeling say it’s (also) for dishes. Perhaps drug labeling regulations for the antibacterial ingredient twisted the labeling team into pretzels trying to satisfy both the marketing team and regulatory team.

Another concern: Does residual antibacterial (e. g. on poorly rinsed glasses) have any effect on beneficial gut bacteria? I doubt it’s been studied. And do I really need an antibacterial for dishes? No.

Or hands? No. On top of all of this, it doesn’t even work that great on dishes. or hands. I have to use a ton to have good effect on grape seed oil in the popcorn pot, for example, whereas Palmolive ultra strength “Dish Liquid” digs right through it.

As does regular Dawn. To be sure, we aren’t buying this again.

I was so excited to receive the Palmolive Shake and Clean Concentrated Dish Soap Starter Kit with Reusable Bottle and 1 Refill Pouch & Concentrated Dish Soap Refills, Lemon Citrus from Bzzagent to review.

As a big believer in using products that are better for the planet, anything reusable is usually great so I was excited to try out this product. In this case I was disappointed to discover all this kit was is an empty plastic dish bottle with plastic packages of dish soap concentrate.

If this product would have came with a glass bottle I 100% would switch over to using this as my go to dish soap. it seemed like a waste of packaging and time to simply mix plastic packets of soap concentrate Into a standard plastic dish soap bottle, when I could just buy a ready to use plastic bottle of the same soap brand and have less package waste.

My plastic bottle is already getting gross on the outside and I’m ready to just toss it and buy regular dish soap. Also noticed it took quite awhile for the concentrate to dissolve even after mixing it more than the instructions entailed.

I would not recommend this product as it stands now. If it was switched to a glass bottle that would last quite awhile I would happily use and purchase in the future!.

This is the only soap I can use now period. I have become so scent sensitive that the smallest of fragrances can make me immediately feel ill. I wish I did not have a nose sometimes because I prefer a strong hand soap with handwashing dishes.

But I have come to learn the boundaries of my body and this is the only soap I can use. I tell my family not to use it all up or I cant wash any dishes at all. It helps me that much. I can use after I eat, in the morning while drinking coffee, and at night before bed.

The antibacterial one causes me to have stomach pain and instant sweating and just makes me feel terrible all day and all night. I wake up sweating at night when I use the orange one but definitely not when I use this one.

I hope Palmolive keeps making this. I have to go back to get more soon!!!.
