Best Dip For Pizza Rolls (2024 Updated)

I’m 45, male, born in Italy to Sicilian parents, I moved to the USA when I was little, and I spend two months every year in Italy. My family and I travel each year to Acqualagna, Italy which is the truffle capital of the world just to spend a few days eating and stocking up on truffle products.

Here are my thoughts on TRUFF Black Truffle Pomodoro sauce. Definitely NOT worth the hype you’ve been hearing about! Not even close. The base of the sauce is your average generic tomato sauce flavor that Americans have grown accustomed to.

The truffle flavor is very mild and almost undetectable (my wife pointed out to me that she can’t taste much of the truffle flavor), and we ordered the Black Truffle Pomodoro sauce. not the hot/spicy version, but this sauce does have some heat to it.

For my eight-year-old son, he gave it a 5/10 on the hot scale, I gave it a 3 or 4. The issue is that when it comes to eating pasta, I’m not a fan of having it with a hot sauce. I’m not a fan of arrabiata sauce, and the TRUFF sauce was very close to it.

Problem is, they don’t advertise this as being hot; in fact, this is the not hot version. Overall, I gave it 3/5 for American standards. If I were in Italy and they served me pasta with this sauce, I would’ve destroyed them in my review.

Don’t believe the hype. You can do much better by getting another product that features more discernible tartufo (truffle) flavor. By the way, I’m a huge fan of black truffle and I’ve tried all four varieties (fresh).

I may even be the only crazy person who buys dress black summer truffles in Italy and drives around eating them as if they were apples.

I have been getting TRUFF products for some time now; however, I finally ordered from the website and ordered the pasta sauces. Let me tell you – BOTH of them are so flavorful and full of great taste.

You do not need that much but just a small amount enhances your pasta. The oil is a hit ! I use it on grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches. My toddler has been eating foods with TRUFF oil in it for almost a year.

A small amount is really all you need. The spicy TRUFF mayo is AMAZING !!!!!!! I used it to make chicken salad sandwiches yesterday and my husband was in love ! The quality is just excellent and whether for dinner or a lunch break, your dish will be enhanced with TRUFF !!! TRUFF is not a letdown at ALL.

I will keep ordering !!!.

this is the second time buying these crusts. so nice having something already prepared for a quick low sodium pizza. usually caramelize onions with mushrooms and tomato topped with cheese. yum! the toppings freeze pretty well for extra quick pizza.

I like thick pizza crust. Alas, too much sodium. These ultra thin crusts have the consistency of a cracker after baking. However, a choice between these or no pizza, pizza wins! Perfect size for lunch.

Our pizza crusts were moldy inside a sealed package. Makes me wonder about the age of the product. We were promised a replacement, which we still have not received. If I did not have kidney issues, I probably would not shop here again.

I wanted to know the difference between Rao’s Tomato & Basil and Marinara sauces, so I found out and will share the info here. The ingredients are the same, but the ratios are different. In this one, there is more basil, less oil, fewer calories (80 vs 100 per serving–which is significant), and the sauce is smoother (Marinara is unexpectedly SLIGHTLY ‘chunkier’).

In other words, the “Tomato” part of “Tomato Basil” seems spurious; there are no ‘chunks’ of tomatos in Tomato Basil. And both HAVE basil, Tomato Basil just has more. You can visually see this, comparing two jars.

So, they should change the name from “Tomato Basil” to “Extra Basil” in my mind, lol. And yes, you could add extra basil yourself. Also, I noticed visually that the Marinara had more onion, even though the two list them at the same place on the ingredients list.

Side-by-side, I can actually visually see the Marinara oil globs in the jar, while I don’t see any oil globs for what I’ll call now the Extra Basil version. Deliberating on whether it’s worth the extra money (it’s already extremely expensive), my partner and I are considering the extra money might be worth it just to have fewer fat calories (pay more to get less, in a way).

My partner hypothesized that they don’t need to add as much fat to get a good flavor in the Basil version, due to the extra herb. It’s logical, but I don’t know. All I know is I didn’t miss the oil in the Basil.

Tasting both blind (I’ve tried both versions in 2 days, so it’s fresh in my mind), I would have actually said the Extra Basil has more fat, just by the flavor and texture. Taste- and texture-wise, the Extra Basil version tastes to me more like a pizza sauce (I love pizza sauce).

Though you could use the Marinara as pizza sauce too. I’ve tried many bespoke pizza sauces that didn’t taste as much what I think of as ‘pizza sauce’ as the Basil. When you open the jar, it smells like ‘a good pizzeria’.

I’ve never had a pasta sauce I could just eat with a spoon, until now. I joked with a friend: “I can just skip the pasta!” Rao’s does make a pizza sauce, and I either haven’t tried it yet, or I can’t remember when I did (I think I’ve tried every pizza sauce sold here).

Rao’s pizza sauce has tweaked ingredients (adds carrots and cherry tomatos, probably for sweetness and tartness). But I’d venture to guess the biggest difference is the size of the jar, as you supposedly need less sauce to make a pizza (not in my book).

I’d have zero hesitation to use the Extra Basil version instead, especially if I were needing more than 1 jar of regular pizza sauce (and it would actually save money). While I’m at it: Cento is the budget leader in pizza sauce, Rao’s is the quality leader (in my book).

Cento, while very good for canned sauce, and while having the exact same ingredients, to my memory is less flavorful, seems ‘waterier’, and more like a straight tomato sauce. Rao’s is just something different.

I’ve also found opened Rao’s to stay good in the fridge for a long time, something you can’t do with cans. Speaking of ingredients, Rao’s uses real olive oil, and doesn’t add sugar. Actually so does Cento.

Both Marinara and ‘Extra Basil’ are incredible sauces–either is by far better than anything prefab I’ve ever had. In fact, that’s true of all Rao’s tomato sauces, although the variations are less-obvious.

For instance, I just shrugged at the ‘Vodka’ version, and its extra cost (“tasted like Rao’s”). The Arrabbiata version seems to be just “Rao’s” with red pepper flake, for heat. Although with Tomato Basil, the differences go a bit beyond the extra basil.

If you’re balking at the price, try 1 jar of either. If you want a sauce more like fresh stewed tomatos made on your stovetop, where tomatos are the star of the show, get the Marinara. If you want something SLIGHTLY ‘thicker’/smoother and a LITTLE more emphasis on spice (not heat), more like a pizza sauce or storebought pasta sauce, or you just want less fat, try the Marinara.

Can’t go wrong with either.

This is my typical to go so sauce when I don’t have time to make my own. I loved the flavor and trusted the brand and ingredients used. Yesterday I went and purchased 2 cans to use. When I opened them at home, some weird dried flaky stuff fell on my hands and all over my pasta.

When I looked closely it looked like dry worms or some type of small, dried up bugs. Dissapointed and slightly disgusted as this has never happened before. I always check my expiration dates and it looked good.

I usually trust this brand anyways. It was frustrating I had to throw away all my food. I went back to the store to report this. I initially asked if I could replace the bottles with 2 new ones instead of a refund so I went the aisle and when I grabbed a new can I noticed it also had dried up bugs on the lid and bottom.

There were at least 3 more bottles that looked the same. I checked their expiration date and it was for the year 2025 so it was odd they went bad. I decided to get a refund instead. Careful when purchasing and hopefully the sauces have all been checked and taken off the shelf.

A little discouraged after this experience to repurchase this brand. Thank you to target employees for the assistance.

Our usual pizza base sauce has been unavailable for some time so we bought this one. What a mistake! Turns out it creates a very wet and uncooked pizza (the base sauce needs up to be dry) Did anyone at Waitrose try this product before they put it on the shelf? The problem with a sauce like this is that if it’s poor quality it will spoil all the other ingredients.

Sadly our pizzas were unedible, all the other Waitrose products we put with it were ruined and our evening meal didn’t happen. If that wasn’t bad enough we bought 2 tins of the stuff!!!!! Easily the worst product we have ever bought from Waitrose, please take it off the shelves.

I’m very fussy. I make my own dough and having family in Italy I have experienced authentic. Italian pizzas often. Usually I make my own sauce but I often find our tomatoes too acidic, whether tinned or fresh.

Mutti tinned tomatoes are the closest I can find to what I’m looking for so I was happy to try this sauce. It’s good. I use it. Very happy! It’s quite thin, as it should be – pizza should only have a film of tomato base – and it’s not too acidic, nor overloaded with herbs.

I’m using it instead of making pizza sauce and am intending to keep a stock in the cupboard.

Perfect consistency, great flavour. Seems rather expensive, but a tin of this easily covers 4 large pizzas, so it’s reasonable. Had previously used concentrated tomato purée but it’s too thick and intense; this is far better and I’m glad to have discovered it.

Good product. But not better than many others. Don’t see how it won best must ard. Too expensive for 3 stars. Would not repurchase.

Great mustard for all kinds of foods. We discovered Jalapeno Mustard from a small town general store but it was a sweet/hot mustard. I found some in a local supermarket once but never found it again, each one was great.

Then I got an expensive jar from a gourmet shop in NYC, also great. The only reason I took off one star was it is just a little hotter than all the others we had. Still, great product and great price.

Will be buying again when I run out.

Cant find this mustard locally so thank you for mail order. Love the slightly spicy flavor to this mustard and it is wonderful on breaded chicken nuggets.

Very delicious. Very similar to delicious bakery rolls from local bakeries. So pretty-looking if you get smooth tops. Delicate, fluffy, filling. Easy! (I like to bake anyway). I think greasing the pan with mostly oil (or shortening) and a light amount of butter tastes great and buttery without being too heavy.

If you knead more than 4-5 minutes, roll dough will begin to toughen; any roll dough will. Pull the top of each dough ball underneath toward the bottom to create smooth tops. This is a superb product.

Love using Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix. Using the mix and yeast you can make delicious cinnamon rolls. My familys favorite. I grew up with my family using the Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix back in the 1960s and forward.

You can also use this product to make delicious pizza crust. Please dont ever discontinue this product.

Makes the perfect rolls and cinnamon buns every time. I love this mix and use it all the time and my plan is to use it for my hot cross buns this Easter, however, I would not pay 49. 00 for a box when its 3.

66 in my local grocery stores. I think I’ll make the trek there tomorrow.

My mom loves this stuff! All of her gal pals really enjoy it, also. I am very selective when it comes to my ranch, so I am not the biggest fan of it. I simply think that somethings are best left to indulge in, and ranch is one of those things for me.

The flavor is good; the consistency is great (not runny/watery); and the fact that it has a healthier punch is definitely a win. I just don’t think it measures up to Original Ranch by Hidden Valley—the ranch flavor is a tad off.

Other than that, I think it’s good. I would use it if needed… Upside, when cooking with it, it is way better in my opinion! I don’t know if cooking it morphs the flavor some or if the other ingredients mask or enhance it; either way, it’s definitely a “go” when playing in the kitchen and not solely as a dressing.

I bought the Homestyle Mix at Costco not realizing it was different from the Original Mix. The first couple times I made it I thought I measured incorrectly since it did not taste like the Original Mix.

Even the kids noticed the ranch had way less ranch flavor. I finally realized the label was different and I purchased Homestyle instead of the Original I usually use. I would not recommend this product and will be purchasing the Original moving forward.

Don’t waste your money. You’ll be disappointed.

Overpriced. Judging by the size, weight, and taste Id say this should cost $2. It looks flavorful by the picture but actually it tastes like a soft/soggy Mission spinach tortilla wrap by the end of baking.

I recommend baking the crust first by itself until it gets crispy and then putting 1-2 TBSP of sauce and cheese. If you out the sauce and cheese first then even if you put it into a 400f preheated oven as I did you run the risk of the crust remaining soft despite the top being cooked through and i used the middle rack, the oven heats from the bottom, and i used a metal tray for the last 2 mins but the crust didnt crisp due to too much moisture.

I wont buy this or a similar product ever again! Instead ill make a gluten-free tortilla and use that as my base next time!.

Only pizza crust low enough carbs for a true low carb diet. Beware of other cauliflower crust, some must use other fillers because they are not low carb at all. Maybe they are focusing on gluten free and adding sugar.

This is a very thin crust and not very big, but if you are desperate for pizza, either this or tortilla’s is your best alternative. Think you would need to use both crust for a family. My husband and I use one.

Cauliflower is more filling than a bread crust, though. Seems they’ve gone up in price, which is sad. You can make these from scratch, but this is a quick pizza fix.

It’s not bad. A little lackluster maybe, but it gets the job done. I made a pizza casserole with this, ground beef, pepperoni, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese baked in the oven. The sauce wasn’t amazing, but for low-carb pizza sauce I’ll take it.

If you can’t live without low-carb pizza sauce, give this a shot.

I love the tartufina pizza. Porcini mushrooms and truffles – yum! I add truffle salt, a lil truffle oil, plus red sauce on the side. Heats up in no time in the ninja oven; crispy crust, creamy cheese, all around yum.
