Today, I installed this backup camera with the rear view mirror from EchoMaster. With the help of an auto forum and additional web searches, I was able to get it working perfectly. The included install guide is not very helpful.
For my 2007 Pontiac G6, I spliced into a lighter green wire. There are two of them, one going to each of the reverse lights. The third green one is a different color green. That one was for one of the brake lights (oops).
Easy fix to put it back together though. I spliced the red wire from the camera into the left reverse light, lighter green wire. The black wire from the camera spliced into one of the ground wires that was screwed into the vehicle chassis.
The mirror had to be powered from a 12v source, so I ran wire from the inside of the cigarette lighter sockets to the supplied red wire for the mirror. I never saw documentation that the mirror needed its own power source, but a Youtube video I found for this model showed me that it was necessary.
VOILA, it all worked! Picture looks clear and bright, and only works when in reverse. I love it!.
My wife’s 2018 Toyota CHR has a great backup camera; my 2008 4Runner had none. With several toddler grandkids, I wanted this as a safety issue. Installation went well, however there is a switch in the wiring harness that controls whether you get a camera view or a “mirror” view.
I had to take the liner of the tailgate apart, switch it over to “mirror” and re-assemble it. That took about 10 minutes on my vehicle. However, be warned- the owner’s manual is 99% worthless. I found the information online.
The camera is adjustable for angle “height. ” The picture is clear, especially in daytime or if the object behind you is lit by the backup lights. At night, if nothing reflects the backup lights, the picture is not as good as my wife’s OEM camera.
AN ADDED BONUS: Wow, is it easy now to line up a trailer to my hitch. That alone would be worth more than the cost!!.
Purchased Nov 2016. Now April 2021, and the license plate camera mount rusted and camera is hanging by the wire. As as short term repair, I re-attached the camera using a $11 license plate bracket and an adapter left over from original install.
Also the image in the mirror from the camera has slowly become very foggy. I think the camera lens is fogged. Since all the cabling is already installed, I am tempted to buy exact same kit, and get another 4 1/2 years of use in the 2009 car.
I like the idea of the monitor built into the mirror. I will not have to install cables, the hardest parts of the install. Maybe take better care of the new camera bracket, to prevent rust and clean the camera lens carefully to prevent a foggy camera lens.
The most important feature of this Rear View Mirror is the LCD. Master Tailgaters is dedicated to providing the best quality LCD. Our panels have the best resolution, Contrast Ratio and dependability on the market.
The mirror looks to be well made. Not at oem quality but good for an aftermarket. The product was packaged well. I tested everything out to be sure it would work before actual install. Installation was straight forward.
Longest part was routing the wires to give it a clean stock look. Once everything was done, I really noticed some things. The picture clarity was poor. I switch from a cheap wireless Peak backup camera system to this supposedly higher quality backup camera and it’s backwards.
I was expecting equal or better picture clarity. But nope. It’s like going from HD led tv back to bulb tv. Not good in my opinion. The camera also is advertised as 170. That doesn’t appear to be the case either, at least not from the view of the picture from the mirror.
Visually from the picture it looks more like a 150-160 view. I say this because at 170, I should be able to see the edge of my rear bumpers, but I don’t. The mirror was nice, you could not see that there is a screen within the mirror, A+ there.
How ever, the mirror seems to always be a little tinted as if it was dimmed down due to rear shining light. This doesn’t bother me but you notice it. Overall it’s ok and it works, but I probably won’t buy another or recommend for friends and family at this price.
For a $100+, the picture clarity wasn’t a $100 picture. Picture clarity was my biggest gripe. Maybe I got a dud, maybe not but this review is based off what I got. Update 11/3/19 On more than a few occasions the rear view image on the mirror did not come on, I had to move the gear selector to drive and back again to reverse to trigger the image to pop up.
Sometimes the image has a tint of pink to it. There are also times when you put the gear into drive and the image screen on the mirror does not go away completely. A gray box remains on the mirror where the image would be.
I’ve driven like this a few times in Hope’s it’s some odd delay but it wasn’t. I have to cycle the gear to reverse and back to drive to clear the gray box. Sometimes it wouldn’t work so I have to shut the vehicle off and restart to clear the gray box.
I think the faulty item here is the mirror. I may have to look into getting a new reverse mirror.
This did not work for me right out of the box. The information says the mirror is 4. 3 approx. inches and the mirror is over 6 inches. This is too wide for my 40 ford convertible. It has to go back. They must have been describing the screen within the mirror.
Other than that I have no opinions, because I didn’t try to adapted it.
Just got it installed! Such a beautiful quality camera! Exactly what I needed! I installed it on a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria! The temperature works great! The mirror comes with a temperature sensor that Got it installed between the grill and the cars radiator.
The compass works great! The rear view camera works great too. I got the camera from a different buyer. I would definitely recommend this rear view mirror! Please see photos for more information.

I installed this mirror with a 4K camera and I dont know how I drove all these years with out this. This is installed on a rare 2004 Isuzu Rodeo and has a better quality picture than my F150 factory rear view camera mirror.
If youre not mechanically/electronically inclined dont attempt to install with the enclosed instructions. Have a professional do it for you. Otherwise installation went smooth and trouble free. Display is crystal clear.

Reviews From Real Customers
I like the quality of the whole system. The camera, mirror and hardware are all of good quality for the price. I’m not a beginner when it comes to installing aftermarket electronic devices in vehicles, so the limited instructions didn’t bother me.
But I can see how someone who hasn’t done it before or not much would find the instructions lacking more detailed information that would really help the process. The system works very well. The mirror is large, and the video displayed on it when backing up is also large and clear.
The camera has good coverage and clear detail. The only issue I had was the small cutout on the camera mount for the wire was on the bottom when the wire has to me run from the top. There was no way to reverse the cutout location or reverse the video picture displayed if the mount was flipped to accommodate the wire so that it wouldn’t get pinched when mounted.
Filing a cutout to fix that oversite would be the only solution until Pyle resolves it at the factory during manufacturing. The system does work very well. It’s a lot easier see directly behind my 1996 Jeep Cherokee now.
Pros- it is an actual rear view mirror and not a clip on. Pro- tag camera is in an aluminum bracket not plastic. Pro- easy install. Wired up to hot wire with key-on for mirror and reverse lights for camera.
Then ran wire from camera to mirror and was done. 3 hrs on a Lincoln Town Car Pro- Looks like factory setup. Pro- cost is well worth the product Con- Video picture is hard to see in sun light. Back light display could be brighter so mirror can’t interrupt picture visibility.
I rate this product at 3. 5 stars. The camera display is clear and of good size. Installation was fairly easy and has just enough RCA cable for this minivan. The biggest difficulty was finding a power source and ground under the dash.
I settled for tapping into one of the fuses for the power. This kit would have recieved a 5 star rating except for the fact that the rearview mirror “glass” is of a plastic composition. While the camera is off the mirror is dark, kind of like driving with the dimmer on.
It had a nick in the surface where the screen is and I further damaged the surface by trying to rub the blemish away. Clean this mirror with great care.
Make driving safer and less stressful by eliminating potential “blind spots” with our superwide Panoramic Rearview Mirror. Used by police officers and professional race car drivers, this seamless, shatterproof convex mirror offers a super-wide field of view to take the guesswork out of highway lane changes, merges and parking.
Installation is easy, too — just clip it over your existing mirror and adjust the angle. Make driving safer and less stressful by eliminating potential “blind spots” with our superwide Panoramic Rearview Mirror.

It was a gift for my husband’s truck. He had one, but this is much better. It is flatter than the prior one, so it is more accurate. Objects appear in real time. He uses the mirror to back up without turning his body around.
He goes straight down long driveways. He sees more of the road behind him, so he knows what is happening at all times when driving.
Shipping was quick. This mirror allows you to see the entire back seat plus a view out each side window. Very handy with little ones in the back seats. Easily clips on existing mirror. Plan to order another for a relative with several little ones.
Great product if you don’t already have a backup camera integrated in the rearview mirror. It is a little on the heavy side and we tried it for a while since we paid for it, but it also seemed to weigh down my existing mirror.
Put it in our kids’ car since backup camera is on console.
Make it easier to reverse when driving with this Alpine rear camera system. Its image sensors have HDR for accommodating variances in light levels so images appear clear, and it provides four viewing angles, up to 180 degrees to the left and right, for increased visibility.
This Alpine rear camera system is compatible with Alpine touch-screen receivers.
This product is very nice quality and definitely recommend! Although, not the best when using at night. The backup light is small and doesn’t offer a lot of assistance. Also, Alpine/sellers should be more upfront about additional costs needed for using this product with the Jeep factory touch screen radio.
It is compatible BUT NOT plug & play. Requires a separately purchased wire harness AND must have radio reprogrammed with OBD flash from aftermarket source or dealer. Either way cost is $100-$125 to get OBD program completed.
Also, must get radio security code from dealer prior to install.
Excellent headu nit that is aesthetically pleasing and able to be installed by a lay person. Fantastic user interface with the ability to expand cameras and accessories as needed. Complicated install overall with some discrepancies in the instructions given by Alpine however there are multiple youtube videos which are helpful.
Expensive unit overall but retains all factory functions and adds even more capabilities over most available aftermarket units out there on the market.
The image quality isn’t any different to much less expensive options. The unit doesn’t even come with a grommet to close the hole where the wire goes through bodywork. And the mount makes the camera stick out a long way from the vehicle.

This dash cam is very good. Both cameras are super clear. The focus is ideal. It handles headlights shining on the back of your car very well with contrast between the lights and other objects (this is an area were many other dash cams suffer).
The user interface is simple and easy to navigate. Pro tip: Check that you have removed the clear shipping cover from the screen. It is not a screen protector and it is not meant to be left on while the unit is in operation.
All of the features of this unit “just work” in a way that is unobtrusive and functional just the way any car accessory should be. In the rear view mode I can see all the way across a six lane highway on both sides.
I also get an excellent wide angle view when backing up in parking lots. This is super helpful when I’m stuck between two gigantic SUV’s. The unit records both front and rear cameras simultaneously while you drive and stores the videos in separate files unlike some cameras that make a combined video.
I like the photo feature: With a tap you can take a picture of what both cameras see. This is useful if I see a sign or a billboard or something else I want to remember later. This way I don’t have to circle back around and stop to take my phone out for a picture.
There’s a lot more good things I could say about this unit but I’ll wrap up by saying that Wolfbox has excellent, responsive customer service! I sent a question about how to upgrade the firmware and they responded with a link to the latest firmware and instructions on how to update within a couple of days.
Absolutely LOVE this product. First dash cam I’ve bought and I wanted to go all out. Video quality: Amazing. Motion detection: Haven’t tried it out too much, but it worked fine for my 2 tests. Night vision: It can see just as much, if not more than the human eye.
No worrying about other lights(headlights, streetlights, etc. ) dimming the video on you and making the dark unseeable. You can even make the exposure higher or lower to suit your nightvision better if needed.
Accurate speed and gps tracking, even tracks g-force which is used for parking mode The only draw back I have found is with parking mode. I love parking mode, but i’ve found if I have the USB plugged into my raido with power running to it and I trigger the parking mode, it turns on but does not capture video, instead asks me what I want to do, use it as a computer webcam, transfer files, or use normal features.
I feel there should be an update where if parking mode is triggered it bypasses the selection option and goes straight to recording. Other than that, this dash cam is an fantastic product.
I have had this dashcam for a few weeks now and it works like a chime every time I start my car. It powers on automatically, in looping recording automatically and everything just works fine. I never needed to worry about whether it’s working or not while I’m driving.
The loop recording just keep recording on my 32GB SD card over and over which can store about 2-4 days worth of my driving. The camera is easy to use. it’d take a little bit of time to configure the settings the very first time, but after that, no need to worry about it at all and it’ll just work by itself.
The camera video quality is alright. you wouldn’t see the license plate of moving cars on the other lanes but the car right in front of you would have its license plate visible. The wide-angle also captures most of the actions around you especially the pedestrians and cyclists on the side.

JK Unlimited model applications may require a longer cable for installation.
The item came with all required installation hardware, but no instructions. For an $850 unit I really expected instructions to be included in the box. Luckily there are Youtube videos to help with the install.
That said, the install was super simple, and took about an hour including running wiring. The Good: It looks great in the Jeep. Hands-free calling is awesome Bluetooth works great for music The backup camera is awesome (didn’t work with my bumper so I had to improvise-noted below) Change settings to have the backup camera come on automatically once the shifter is in reverse- Great option.
The Bad: It takes the radio a 10-15 count to go from blank screen to Raxiom splash screen. It takes music a 5-10 count to begin playing after starting the vehicle. DVD player only works with Emergency brake on (Safety first, I know) People complain about road noise while talking on the phone through the bluetooth.
I have a tubular aftermarket rear bumper, and didn’t want to spring for the spare tire backup camera mount. I found a spare center cap for my spare tire, painted it to match my others, then drilled a hole and placed the camera on my spare.
This isn’t really bad, per say, but I can’t see my ball hitch – which is really why I wanted a backup camera in the first place. That said, I can now see behind me while backing. Overall, the unit looks great.
No noticeable improvements to the sound quality (non premium speaker set-up), but the backup camera is nice, and bluetooth is really great coming from a bottom of the line basic factory head unit.
First of extreme terrain is great to deal with, very responsive and customer service oriented. The unit was purchased last may (2016) to replace the factory 130 unit. Fit and finish is great, installation instructions are ok, but if you are technically savvy, you will figure it out.
My favorite part of the radio is back up camera. That alone is worth an extra star, if it wasn’t for the camera, I would have rated this radio as two stars. Several reasons for that. 1 – it is extremely slow.
Not sure if the hardware is outdated, it shouldn’t take 35 seconds to reconnect to Bluetooth after starting your motor. 2 – software is glitchy, needs better QA as things like switching back and forth between pandora and nav pauses playback.
3 – too many adjustments needed to set it up properly. Various input volumes for Bluetooth, phone, auxiliary, USB etc can be very frustrating to dial in correctly. 4 – steering wheel control programming is not how I would have configured it.
5 – no equalizer, at that price I wouldn’t mind being able to adjust individual frequencies myself. Now positives: 1 – ultimately extensibility with amps, signal processors, etc. remote turn off delay to prevent the thump.
2 – back up camera is great, make sure to get the mounting brackets. 3 – sound quality is pretty good when it’s playing. 🙂 Conclusion – would I buy this again, the answer is no. I think there are better options from alpine and pioneer with much better performance and hardware.
I just ordered brand new rubicon and opted in for 430N unit and alpine audio to try upgraded factory unit. If that doesn’t work, I will be selling the factory unit and replacing with above mentioned brands.
Bought this to upgrade the head unit in my 2011 Wrangler, connecting to the factory speakers. Overall, I like it, however, I do feel that for the price, it could be better. Specifically- -The power going to the low end on the speakers does not compare favorably with what comes out of the factory head unit.
Adjusting the crossover point doesn’t help either. This unit simply doesn’t seem to output the same juice. I had to turn the bass levels up far higher than on the factory system just to hear anything below 100Hz.
-When using Bluetooth, there is no information on the display as to what is playing on your device. Seems nitpicky, but it is available on every other vehicle I’ve ever driven, so it shouldn’t be too hard to implement here.
Perhaps there will be a firmware update. -Probably the most significant issue I have is that the harness is not wired out of the box for use in a manual transmission vehicle. This results in the backup camera reverse trigger not functioning unless the vehicle is in accessory mode, i.
e. , not on. You can still activate it on the display, but that isn’t really the way it’s supposed to work. Contacted Rosen about the issue, was told that you could fix it by adding a wire yourself, and that they planned on manufacturing harnesses pre-wired for manual transmissions soon.
For most vehicles, I get it, the manual market is likely quite small, but for Jeeps? Seems like a pretty big oversight, especially since no mention is made about the issue.
Mount the camera at the back of the car(on the Bumper, or other suitable place). When you parking the car, this camera will show the image behind the car, and is there anybody behind the car, avoid people crush and some obstacles, this camera will also show the driver whether parking on line.
Applicable to variety of vehicles: car, Truck, rave, mini-van etc. Mount the camera at the back of the car(on the bumper, or other suitable place) When you Parking the Car, this camera will show the image behind the Car Applicable to variety of Vehicles: Car, Truck, RV, mini-van etc.
I bought this rear camera plus installation for my wife for Christmas. I took it back after Christmas for the install and they started talking about how if they broke my windshield during installation, I would have to pay to replace it.
I mean come on, this was Christmas gift. How about telling me that when I bought this so I could instead give her something I wouldn’t have to take back. Ended up with a full refund, of course. Wasted a whole day driving back and forth for nothing.
I’m too busy to be wasting my time like that. Buyer beware.
I never realized how much I’d appreciate a backup camera. The only minor thing that can get annoying is if it’s raining the picture can be blurry but what can you expect if it’s against the elements in Washington lol.
Other than that I love it and it’s awesome for backing into parking spots at school when I’m in a rush as well as backing out of anywhere obviously. Does the job! Thank you!.
So far so good. I’m impressed with how the display goes invisible and although I haven’t played much with the settings yet (there seem to be a lot), the forward facing camera and DVR are promising especially for security or insurance purposes if you live in the city.
Cartoys made a mistake installing it which did cause some funky behavior in my car’s ignition system. I brought it in and they fixed it quickly though.
Connect video cable to the reverse lamp; 3. Install T1400 mirror after removing the original mirror; 4. Connect video cable to the mirror monitor. Super Night Vision. 4 mirror’s bracket adapters are included.
Good product! Installed in a reasonable amount of time. When shifting into reverse, about 10-12 second delay in the camera activating on the review mirror. Not bad, just have to get use to it. I understand when one of the comments said they were annoyed by the blinking stop.
I would like to see the camera mount be adjustable as to move it forward or backward. Mine get wet when it rains and distorts the camera view. If rain is light, no problem. It is a good unit. I really enjoy having it installed on my truck.
Very good quality only drawback being interference with radio. This seems to be a common problem with many other dash cams. Use of Ferrite core suppressors has overcome majority of problem. Easy to set up and use with smartphone.
Playback picture quality and sound also good. Good backup help from manufacturer who answer queries almost immediately.
This is a very good back up camera system for the price. I installed it on my late model explorer, backing up is a lot easier especially in a big city with tight parking space like NYC. Note: unless you are good at wiring and have good knowledge of running cables in a vehicle, you should get this professionally installed, that’s what I did.
The whole process took one hour at the auto audio shop and I paid a buck fifty for the labor.

I purchased two of these, one for a 2006 Tacoma with the rear camera installed at the license plate; the second unit was installed on a 2016 Ford Transit inside the van, mounted on a horizontal surface, and looking through tinted glass.
I installed the unit on the Tacoma and used it for about a month before purchasing the unit for the Transit van. So, in spite of the dislikes below, I found the dashcam to be good enough and cheap enough to buy the second unit.
LIKES: Easy to operate with some good features (recording front and rear, automatic recording for a wreck, good backup grid, wide field of view, etc. ) and a good clear picture. (An exception is that the rear cam on the Transit gives a somewhat grainy picure in nonreal colors at night.
This may be because it’s looking through tinted glass. DISLIKES: Mounting brackets/bands for both the front and rear cameras need improvement. The mirror with front camera is mounted over the existing car mirror with a type of rubber band.
This works ok except when the mirror is repositioned (to achieve desired front view, reduce glare or just tapping the input menu) the mirror wobbles a bit requiring a moment or two to readjust position.
Another problem is that the mounting bracket for the rear camera does not have sufficient freedom of movement to correctly position the camera in all cases; for the Tacoma I had to take the bracket off the camera and reattach in a different way so that the camera looked down sufficiently.
For the Transit I had to mount the camera on a horizontal surface which required me to manufacture a stand for the bracket. Of course, the biggest problem is running the cable front the front mirror/dashcam to the rear camera.
If you have experience with that kind of work, then modifying the camera brackets shouldn’t deter you from buying this good system.
This is a decent screen and camera for the price point. Good quality picture and parts. It has a better interface that the cheaper one I put in my car, but still not the very intuitive. It likes to start recording when it turns on, then prevents you from accessing settings, etc.
until you manually stop the recording. The mini-USB power source was nice and made for an easy extension, if needed, in larger vehicles. We found the line to be long enough for an F-150. Returned it because the screen doesn’t turn off when you’re done using the reversing feature, which seems like a significant oversight in the software of a device like this.
The Vantop HF609T does exactly what it is supposed to do. it takes video front and rear! The resolution looks decent and with the 128GB card I added, it has room to record both front and rear without looping too soon.
The controls are pretty easy, it sets up quickly and the most time-consuming part was running the cable for the rear camera on my 2013 Ram 1500 crew-cab pickup. I have the 5″7″ bed and the cable fit with just a little to spare when I ran it under the bed, through the back vent into the cab, along the side floor molding and up the windshield molding.
If I had gone along the ceiling, it probably would have fit the 6’7″ bed. of the “normal” short bed. Overall, I am very satisfied with it and hope it lasts longer than the last one from another brand – just about a month longer than the warranty!.
Some Key aspects to also consider that is often missed is the thickness of the glass mirror. The OEM replacement aftermarket 4. 3″ LCD Rear View Mirror fully replaces your current rear view mirror. It has a LCD display sensor that will automatically adjust the LCD’s brightness to the ambient light.

Our Rear View Mirror has a industry leading, clear and distortion free, 4mm thick glass mirror.
This unit has good picture quality BUT!!! There is absolutely NO option to take the guide lines off on this unit. Or straps to help hold the mirror on better. It would be an five star if not for these issues.
I have a larger sized truck and I installed this camera to see my hitch and anything behind. Works very well and the install went smoothly. I would suggest watching one of the numerous videos out there before attempting.

Loop Recording Continuously recording, the HF612 mirror dash cam is always ready in an instant, as the oldest videos will be replaced by the newest videos when the memory card is full. Important clips can be locked and will not be overwritten, you won’t miss a single frame on the road.
Reliable Surveillance With the parking monitor function, it will automatically start to record a 20S locked video when vibration is detected, guard your car 24/7 as reliable parking surveillance.
Decent camera and I got it because I wanted a mirror-mount dual-channel dash cam, and the touch-screen was a nice touch, but I didn’t expect the mirror to default to always showing the video which covers the ENTIRE mirror.
I’m unable to use it as a mirror when the video is on, so every time I start my car and the screen comes on I have to press the button to turn it off. This small nuisance has caused me to really dislike this dashcam.
I also discovered that the “lock video” function doesn’t seem to have a consistent amount of time that it saves video before the time I pressed the button so I don’t know if the important thing that I don’t want overwritten actually got captured in the locked video or not.
In a couple tests it appeared to save only 8 to 10 seconds of video that was recorded before I pressed the button. It would probably take me at least that long (most likely longer) to even think that I should press the button to lock the recording if something significant happened.
And I also discovered that the video files saved on the SD card have something wrong with them that causes them not to play on my Mac. I don’t know if this is because my SD card isn’t compatible or if there is something wrong with the video files that is causing this.
I haven’t tried on a windows machine to see if it plays okay there. For the price I paid the dashcam probably should have included an officially supported SD card, which would have potentially avoided me mentioning this in the review if indeed this problem is because of the SD card.
The videos do play on the dashcam itself, but if the whole point of the dashcam is to save video in case of an accident, and not being able to play them on my computer so I can share them with others is a bit of a problem.
And if the battery was supposed to last more than 10 seconds then the battery on the dashcam that I have is also defective. It won’t even turn on anymore when not being powered by the USB cable.
I got a new dash cam because my old one just stopped working. It was a cheap one I bought, but this time I wanted to spend extra on a good one. The set up was easy, however I did not hook up backup camera yet(The backup camera has a long wire you have to run to the back of the vehicle then have to hook it up to back up lights and that just seems like a long headache.
) But the front camera view is awesome. Crisp smoother camera view and the touch screen is great! I can scroll to view footage from the screen and it is very easy to use and setup. SD card I bought for it supported it just fine.
I have this in a truck that sits outside in the heat and have no issues with it being to hot to use. The only problem I have is the start up when a voice talks and says, “Welcome to Wantop. ” I think they should have used someone that can say the company name properly? This camera is well worth the price.
Highly recommended. I got tired of cheap ones off of Amazon and decided to put in a little more for one off of BestBuy. I am quite pleased with the quality of this dash camera. The higher video quality is great.
No more blurry license plates. Higher quality at night. Higher quality videos in weather. Love the voice control. You don’t always have time to figure out how to save the file just say save file. Card is easy to eject in seconds if need be.
Gps tracking isn’t required but helpful. If you don’t know where you are when accident occurs then one should not be driving. Covers 100% of the lanes front and back. The tape strip fails to hold on the back but no problem the screws or duct tape do the job.
I love the piece of mind. I know the electronics I buy off of Best Buy are good quality and will last a long time.

Reviews From Real Customers
This cam was easy to set up, HOWEVER, the real test came when I miraculously recently avoided a near devastating collision. Another driver WITHOUT LOOKING, cut across a highway in front of me forcing me across a the 4 lane highway and into oncoming traffic! Thank goodness I had been watching her to see if she saw me, as I anticipated she wanted to cut across.
Had I not been vigilant while driving, I would have t-boned her, totaling my car and surely have been hurt. When I got home to review the footage, I discovered that this cam was never recording! Yes this cam turns on when you start the car, BUT IT DOESN’T STAY ON! Since this incident, I’ve noticed that the cam doesn’t stay on while driving, and that the adapter is faulty, and doesn’t stay lit, indicating that it’s on.
Now I’m getting a ‘no sd card’ message, even though one is installed in the cam. I’ve reached out to customer service, but haven’t heard back. I’m throwing this garbage cam out and buying a more expensive unit from Best Buy.
Installed three days ago after watching TV ads $59. 99. Very simple, functionable and really good. Reasonable price. Issues: 1. Dodge Grand Caravan rear view mirror is wide back. So the rubber straps one is not enough as shown on video.
Lucky there was one extra. so must use both to stretch then only can be mounted. Provide extra straps. 2. So impressed, three days later bought another for second car. Opps!! the first one FROZEN frame.
even when I disconnected power. Hmmmm thought of returning both. Then I read the manual, it says YES sometimes it may freeze. to reset and activate, a pin (provided) must be poked/inserted at the hole back of the mirror provided for this purpose.
I did. back in business. Follow the brochure/read it four times to understand. 3. Bought warranty for 3 years paid $12 extra. But no details of warranty coverage on the receipt or details of return/ refund details.
I’ve only had this for a couple of days and like it so far. It seems pretty easy to use. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of the blue hue the mirror has. IMO it distorts and makes things hard to see.
It would be great, and I would buy again if they offered it in 2 forms, with or without the blueness. The company describes this as being anti-glare and cutting down the bright lights from other drivers.
It is very secure and doesn’t shake or vibrate around because of the bands that are used to attach it to the mirror. It also eliminated clutterness from the dash cam that I had that was mounted on the windshield.
I feel like both the price and quality are pretty good and will recommend it to family and friends. Thank you.
Upgraded Visibility. The Day/Night Rearview Mirror is a unique way to dress up your Ford F-150 and upgrade your interior mirror with a wider than factory mirror for greater visiblity. The Day/Night Rearview Mirror meets all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and uses a manual thumb switch for day or night driving needs so you can be ready for anything.
Quality Construction. This Day/Night Rearview Mirror is made of high quality ABS plastic and has a wider 12″ mirror over the standard rearview mirror. Installation is quick and easy and only a screwdriver is required and it fits all standard mirror mounts.
If mirror mount needs to be replaced, mirror glue is sold separately. Application. This Day/Night Rearview Mirror is a universal application and will fit all Ford F-150 trucks.
good: 12″ size is good, curved edges are good, slight purple tint helps view things clearly, price, day/night option (other mirrors didn’t have day/night switch) bad: the ball joint that the mirror swivels on is too loose.
The mirror will vibrate with normal road bumps, annoying on my normal commute. I can tell that my old mirror didn’t have this issue. The day/night lever doesn’t completely change the entire mirror. This means that the headlights don’t show up in the same spot that they used to and there’s also a horizontal line at the bottom of the mirror where the day/night reflection changes (I know it’s hard to explain).
Basically, the manufacturer needs to make the day/night lever move more to cover the entire view of the mirror. Suggestion to the manufacturer: I tried another mirror that was convex, allowing you to see your blindspots behind your tail lights.
It’d be great if this mirror was like that, although the 12″ does give you a slightly wider view.
I appreciated the very quick delivery of the mirror. The mounting piece is designed a bit different than the OEM which doesn’t allow for it to mount onto the OEM windshield mount. It does stay on, but would be nice for it to fit like the OEM.
Doesn’t look like it’s 100% secure actually. It’s construction is somewhat lighter than the OEM which allows for vibration while moving down the road. A bit obnoxious at times. In the middle of the mirror you can see a wave/bulge from top to bottom which distorts the image.
When in the night time position, the mirror doesn’t cam, or move far enough to eliminate the daytime view. Could possibly move a bit more to fully darken the view. Somewhat distracting with a partialy darkened image with some bright light included.
It’s an ok mirror, but truly not what I would consider an OEM replacement.
Great product. Goes in very securely with a screw driven into the pad on the windshield. No vibration while driving whatsoever and slight vibration when my subwoofer gets going. Awesome price Also: many dealerships and shops told me I needed a special tool to remove the mirror.
Take a fork, bend the outside ends down and use that as a hinging tool, then take a small hammer and gently tap the mirror till you can slide it out.
The Monster Rearview Mirror Dash/Backup Cam allows you to record High-Definition video from the back of your vehicle. Providing a high-quality viewing portal, you’ll feel safer as you drive anywhere.
With 16 gigabytes of space, you can record hours of video and maintain it within your system, courtesy of the camera’s SD card. At a 110° field of view and 6 LED Lights for night viewing, you’ll have a wider focus and clearer recordings, not compromised by driving conditions or the time of day.
Installation is fast and easy with the expandable rubber clips which conform to your specific vehicle shape and setup.
This is a good basic dash and back up camera. Depending on the vehicle you are installing it in you may want to consider professional installation. My husband has been a mechanic for 30 years and running the wires was a major pain even with his experience.
We got everything plugged in and wired to the taillight and tested it out and the rear camera had terrific resolution, came up perfect when we put the vehicle in reverse. It also had a good quality front camera and all the features worked well.
Downside. Once we had everything tested and went to run the wires to the front under the trim pieces we came up short and now have to wait for an extension to arrive. DO NOT SPLICE the wire (We almost cut the wire to try to splice it).
This is a video wire! It was nice that the instructions were straight to the point but they could be expanded just a bit an offer more installation suggestions. It’s nice that the review mirror just bungees on but in our vehicle it can bounce a bit so we were looking at adding a little extra reinforcement.
Overall this is a nice basic model. If you drive anything bigger than a small car you may want to consider just purchasing an extension cable when you get it. Ours was mid-sized car and we were about 1.
5 feet short running it under the trim pieces which is a bummer to have to stop and put everything back together while you wait. If you don’t have kids bouncing around in the car you might be able to leave the cables exposed in the car and then it should have just enough for midsize car.
The guidelines could be more accurate as far as parallel parking and parking into a parking space. If you use the sides of the guidelines for parallel parking your going up on the curb, sidewalk, etc.
I’d pay a few bucks more for better picture quality. There’s seems to be too much glare and/or reflection going on. That I can’t tell what I’m looking at. I have to raise myself up while driving to glance at it.
Somewhat like eye level. So I’d pay more for a screen better than LCD. I love it though. It beats a few $200 setups.
The Monster dash and backup camera work very well. It was easy to install the mirror you just clip it over your existing one. The back up camera part. The back up camera has 7 LED lights for better nighttime viewing.
It lets you record audio and video from both the front and back of your vehicle on a removable 16GB mini SD card that comes with the camera and it automatically saves the video for you when you shut the car off.
It has a nice 4. 3 inch color LCD screen in the right side of your mirror and can be powered off so you can use the full mirror. The controls on the mirror are nice and and easy to use. The image quality is good during the day and at night.
It is a quality product and really love it. I feel alot better with this camera and I can see when I back up and love the dash camera part it makes me feel safer.
The digital rear view mirror is a fantastic tool that can be used in many different settings. The mirror provides a clear view of what is behind the vehicle, and this can be very useful when reversing or when looking to see if someone is following you.
The digital rear view mirror is also great for checking blind spots, and it can be a lifesaver in many situations. Overall, the digital rear view mirror is an excellent tool that can be used in a variety of different ways.
