Best Digital Pool Water Tester (2024 Updated)

Bought the device instead of paying someone every week to check my pool levels. Very easy to use. Everything is self explanatory! The automated assistant answered all the questions I had. App works great and saves all my pool data!.

Works really well, nice quality (can’t comment on longevity yet). Only downside is it takes a while to run a full set of tests as you’re doing one at a time.

I have found this product to be very useful for Color-Blind people like myself. I can’t manually read the various color differences. The app makes it easy-peasy. I do find a slight variation in the reading depending on the length of exposure time.

15 seconds may not be long enough to get an accurate reading so I generally check it at about 15 sec. and again at about 30-45 sec.

In just one reading, you can fix most of your pool problems. Cons: You need to proceed quickly because the color results on the strip tend to fade away with time. If you use the Clorox Pool App with the scan function, you will need a good and bright daylight for consistent results.

The results entered manually generally differ from the results obtained with the Clorox Pool App. So, if you want consistent reading of your pool chemicals, stick to only one method. I would preferably recommend the use the Clorox Pool App but using it all the time under the same amount of daylight because this can affect the reading.

Was never comfortable with my analysis. I have taken several color matching tests for work as a quality inspector and typically do quite well, however have difficulty with these test strips and the scale.

Never seems to have matching color on the bottle color scale. I find that the color of the test strip continues to change the longer the time after the dip. It could just be me. I am a stickler for accuracy and ease of use.

I did try dipping several at the same time and occasionally would get one that would show a different shade. So I always dipped 3 at a time and would discard the occasional one that was different.

I was apprehensive about this product because these things have more negative reviews than positive ones. And testing results were very inconsistent and wildly fluctuating at first. Then I discovered that timing was absolutely critical.

When you press the start button, the display scrolls through the following: 3 – 2 – 1 – dip – on When it gets to “dip”, you’d better be dipping the test strip right then. And when it says “on”, you’d better be putting the test strip into the device.

Once I started adhering to this regimen, I started getting consistent, reasonable results. So I guess I’d say I’m pretty pleased with it at this point. I don’t have to match and interpret the colors.

This takes the guess work out of keeping your pool water happy. Pool test strips were driving me crazy, trying to guess which color on the container looked closest to what the strip was displaying. Also, you never know how long the test strips have sat on the shelf before you buy them.

I got ahold of one set of strips that was constantly telling me my PH was low, only to find out it was actually high when tested at the pool store. This gives you an accurate read within about 3 minutes.

Sure I wish it were faster, however, I used to spend 3 minutes guessing what color the test strip was closest too. This tool has made managing my pool’s PH and Chlorine level much easier and has eliminated the guesswork and anxiety.

It works well just like it is supposed to. It gives numerical score for each measured category including salt and chlorine which are the most important for saltwater pools. The cheap one I bought off eBay was not accurate.

It registered less than half the salt level causing big problems with my pool pump. An inaccurate tester is worse than worthless. It is counterproductive and costly.

This meter does a great job of keeping an eye on your pool chemistry at home. It is however not a replacement for professional testing. While this meter reads some important parameters theres several things it does not address.

In summary I love my pool meter but I still take a sample to the pool store once a week to make sure everythings in line.

I’m not sure why I was asked to review my new SENSE again, but 5 weeks after installation, I’m dropping my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. When it works, I love it and I give it 5 stars. The reason for the 4 star rating is that recently my SENSE lost internet connection (it went offline).

I went to the app to go through the configuration process again, but everytime, the app told me that it could not connect to the SENSE device. Please try again when you’re closer to it (I was standing on top of it).

After hours of screwing around with this, I finally had the idea to remove the batteries. This forced a reset and turned the Bluetooth radio back on. After that, I was able to connect (via Bluetooth), and tell the SENSE which WiFi network to connect to.

I didn’t see that documented ANYWHERE, but if you ever need to change/switch WiFi, you’ll need to power cycle the device to get the Bluetooth back on.

Happy customer for past couple of months with Water Guru Sense device. It auto senses and measures pH and Free Chlorine and gives the measurement numbers daily at a set time in the day. If the numbers go up/ down, alerts gets pushed over the drive to notify the user to take an action to optimize the numbers accordingly.

Every set number of weeks, one has to replenished the chemicals (both muratic acid and Chlorine) to ensure the supply remains in the sense service. Overall, a happy camper so far and recommend water guru to every pool owner.

Have had trouble keeping my water balanced and clean since my Phin went belly up. Found out from a friend about the water Guru sense. It took one week to get my pool in perfect balance and has stayed that way all this year.

Love it and it gives me daily readings of the water quality. I am using less chemicals than before and I never have to leave my house to get my reading. Highly recommend.

We just got our re plastered and I wanted to make sure I got things right. Took a bit to be able to test quickly but after a few times it become very easy. So far so good. I also check with strips and everything seems good.

Took a sample water to our pool store and e everything was perfect. Makes me feel more confident that our water is adjusted properly.

I just bought a home with a pool and bought a 3 different testing kits (2 strips testing kits and 1 K-1003) and just got tired of guessing colors. I ended buying and this electronic test kit is actually fun and easy to use.

I actually enjoy testing my pool water now. I still do go to the pool store about once every 2 month to double check my results and they are pretty close. When i was doing research online i head nothing but bad comments on all electronic test kits from all the Taylor test kit owners but after owning a Lamotte ColorQ Pro 7 Test, i say they are wrong this is the best test kit in my opinion.

I ordered in April because it can be calibrated. Here it is October and it’s useless. My water is reading 196ppm. After calibrating it still reads 196. Out of water it should read 0, but it reads 42.

It lasted all of 6 months.

Excellent meter only one criticism it was not accurate, had to recalibrate so need to buy TDS calibration solution when purchasing.

Very poor product , hard to read such small letters & numbers NOT what I expected at all. Not worth my time to refund for 15 bucks ….LESSON learned

The test directions are well written, and the system is easy to use. I’ve done testing with this kit and on the same day took a water sample into the pool store to test it. My test results matched theirs, so it is accurate.

Great item! Tests more things than the tester from Leslie’s for about the same money. This is my second Pentair tester.

I have used this test kit for 20 years at my home and my pool maintenance business. It has always been vwry accurate and easy to use. The reagents are easy to get for replacement when you run out.

I’ve used the Kokido 5 Way Test pack in the past. I’ve found their tests to be accurate. The insert that is included provides instructions on how to use their product and also how to correct any problems you have balancing the chemicals in your pool.

They also provide information on how to correct any problems that may occur (such as discoloration, etc. ). It is a great product and value for the cost. That is why I did not return the kit when I saw that some of the Phenol Red and 1/2 of the ALK-20 had leaked out.

I just wanted to make someone aware of this unfortunate occurrence. Mistakes happen and hopefully the company will take steps in assuring that this doesn’t happen often.

I don’t know why I bought the 5 way. The only thing I check is the Chlorine and the PH. And as for the chlorine I have yet to get a reading out of the orange range and for the PH any reading at. I haven’t used any chlorine tablets for over a week, plus dumped half a bag of soda in the pool.

Even did a heavy back wash and the colors haven’t changed at all. I’ve had the pool for over ten years and never had this problem. So now I need to buy another tester just to test my tester.

Really like it. hate taking care of my pool, but the strips made it worse. all the colors looked the same to me. this is much easier to read. had in the sun, so we have to usually put it against something white.

we also had an issue early on and have already almost run out of the alk-30, so really hoping we can buy just that one for next year as everything else is fine. it’s so easy after a few times I didn’t even have to read the instructions, and went much faster.

Bought this for my 12 x 30 Intex frame pool. I had a Clorox brand one but the colors were hard to read. This Taylor one is lot easier. Colors are clear and I can finally match that orange tone for the ph which the Clorox one didnt have.

And its just easier to use. Instructions are clear. Highly recommend for the smaller pools.

Very simple and easy to use (no mixing needed) for quick check of Chlorine and pH. I tried testing against a better quality full test kit and readings were spot on. Not bad, so great kit for quick daily testing.

I gave it 5 stars because the comparator block for chlorine is shades of pink/red. My old kit had shades of yellow. I had trouble distinguishing between them. I can easily distinguish between the shades of pink/red so I can tell how many ppm of chlorine.

If you see pink/red better than yellow then I think you’ll be happy with this.

I prefer the Aquachek strips but these do work. The other reviewer is blaming this brand for his/her spa getting chlorine lock or cyanuric acid lock. When that happens, most test strips don’t register chlorine at all despite a strong smell.

If that happens to you it’s faster to just drain and refill.

I have a Layzspa which is manufactured by Bestway. So seeing as these strips are Bestway, I thought I’d give them a try. They are not accurate at all – I compared the results to Clearwater test strips and the results were very different.

So I did the tests again with both brands, the Bestway strip showed a different result to the first Bestway test and both Clearwater tests. The second Clearwater test strip read the same as the first.

I would not recommend them and they’ll now be going in the bin as clearly unreliable.

I don’t know of my test strips expired or something, since I got them in a little kit, but it wasn’t displaying increased chlorine levels at all. It took me so long to figure out why my spa had unbearable chlorine fumes.

When I got other strips it showed my that my chlorine levels were through the charts.

This thing is no good. I am a former N. Y. S. licensed water operator fo r a community up to 10,000 residents. We used to use these OTO kits and they worked. This item is impossible to read! The scale is faded and has bubbles in it.

Now they want me to pay for the return. Do not buy from these people.

We have been shopping at the SpaDepot for a few years now and have had no issues with the company. Products arrive in a timely manner and so far no damaged products. We usually buy the fragrances for our spa as they have the best prices.

Since we use our spa regularly it is easy to buy a good variety and not pay shipping.

These seem to be accurate, they agree with the Taylor strips that I’ve been using. I do not have any issues with colours bleeding. My only complaint is that the scale for Ph and Hardness is too broad; my spa calls for a hardness of 150-200, the 2 lowest indicators on this are 100 and 250, so there’s a lot of guesswork.

Ph is similar, I’m trying to keep 7. 2-7. 8 but on the results decoder everything between 7. 2 and 8. 4 looks pretty similar.

The test strips we received didn’t work accurately. By this I mean the colors for two of the readings were either false, didn’t have proper color, or was just a faulty product in general. For instance, if we would verify the readings from the canister’s chart, two colors were either not recognized or either fell on the color scale to match.

Further, we had a few strips left of the accurate test strips and the readings that these tests strips provided threw off the chemicals in the hot tub to the point that we had to readjust when we took the correct readings.

I’m not sure why the readings were so off, so I’ll chalk this up to a bad egg of a shipment. Thankfully, Google Express service was simply superb in a quick response with a full refund and return, hence the 3-star rating instead of a 1-star.

Im still testing it out but so far the color of the chlorine test is the same all the time. Light yellow. I even tried just testing tap water and same color. What I havent tried yet is heavy chlorine just to see if its any different.

I have confirmed that chlorine levels were in fact changing as I was using testing tabs from 2 other brands that indicated chlorine level change as I added. I will give it some more tries to keep it fair and if for some reason I did something wrong and it changes in accuracy Ill update my review but as of now Ill give it an ok just because the other attributes seem to be ok However not yet sold on using this vs good testing tabs which is way more convenient.

Started up a pool this year and wanted the drop kit because they are more reliable and accurate than the strips in my opinion. I have found this kit simple to use, and should last at least a season with supplied drops, checking weekly.

I check alkalinity, chlorine, and ph. So I probably could have done a 3-way if alkalinity was offered. I use strips for CYA but never seem to get a good reading. Either way my pool is clear and Im a happy camper.

Replacement drops are available individually so thats s plus.

Great test kit! I like the colors in the tubes. They are noticeable different so it is easy to tell where your water color fits in the spectrum. Other kits I have tried have such a similar range of color in the tube markings that it is hard to tell where my sample really falls on the color scale.

This kit makes that very clear.

We canceled our pool chemical service recently and so I ended up having to purchase a brand new chemical test kit because our old one was expired. The only thing I really don’t like about this kit is that, compared to my old kit, testing chlorine is a pain.

The powder reagent, although it’s supposed to be more accurate, is messy. I miss the drops. I also wish they would give you a little notepad to record your results and keep track of what you need to add.

Received a different product, branded by Leslie’s. I guess it’s the same as a Taylor K-2006, but I really don’t know. Some of the reagents are due to expire in less than three months, so seems like an old product.

The Taylor K-2006 test kit is a quality kit containing all the test chemicals to maintain a healthy pool or spa, except a salinity test which requires a separate procedure. This kit retails in Australia for about $300.

00. I bought it new on e-bay from the USA for $115. 00 including delivery. I am a pro. pool tech. and would recommend this kit to other techs. or pool/spa owners. I have only found one supplier in the US who will ship this kit to Australia, and I would highly recommend them.

I buy these every year. I adjust my pool and spa using these. When I take my water to the pool store for testing they always tell me that my water is right on! I tried others, they just do not work as well or provide the resolution.

I’ve used a bunch of different kinds of pool strips but none of them are more accurate than these. Easy to read and the colors are spot on when determining the readings. Highly recommend

These are the first test strips I have used and they are simple to use and produce reliable results. I compared results with my standard test kit and they were exactly the same.

We used HTH 3 Way Test Kit to test for chlorine, ph and hardness of the water. How often we test the water depends on how often we use the pool. But it’s important to remember that, for chlorine and pH, you should usually test the pool two to three times a week.

That is important for our pool’s health and the health of the anyone that swims in it. This helps so our eyes and skin won’t get irritated. Thanks for the free sample.

This is probably one of the best kits out there for checking the pH of your pool. Definitely a must have for every pool owner. Fill the tube with water, add a few drops of the required solution and within seconds the colors start to change.

It’s easy to identify where your level is using the color coding. Highly recommended!.

I’m so glad to have a 3 way test kit for my pool. Takes the guessing game out of pool maintenance. The test kit is easy to use and provides quick results. You can use the kit 100 times. Great value for the money and you aren’t scrambling to the pool supply.

I used it with my salt water system and have had no problems.

This pH meter is not only easy to use but also very accurate. We have a large aquarium with tropical fish that require a certain pH level for their survival, so monitoring their water is important. This meter makes it so much easier than the test strips I’d been using! For curiosity purposes, I compared results from this meter with the strips, and got the same readings from both every time, regardless of the liquid I tested.

When I received this product I was surprised that they included a set of buffer powder packets. This is critical, because while I had not thought of the need to calibrate the meter, the manufacturer had, so I need not worry about the measurements.

I also appreciate the case to keep the meter safe and clean, as I am not using it on a regular basis. I was even more impressed that the calibration showed the device to be extremely accurate.

I purchased this pH meter to measure my well water. I was concerned that my water might be too acidic due to corrosion residue as that seems to be a common root cause. The calibration of the meter was easy and inspired confidence as the meter read values quite close to the value of the calibration solutions before calibration.

Turns out that my well water is nearly exactly neutral with a pH of 7. I’ll have to do some more research into corrosion causes.
