20 Best Diffusers For Wavy Hair (2023 Updated)

This diffuser is by far the best I’ve ever used–and it’s the most affordable! Because of the way it is made, I’m sure it would fit on any hair dryer. I’ve tested it on 4 different ones and it fits perfectly because it grips to the mouth of the dryer.

It has given me extremely defined curls with basically no frizz. It’s super convenient to travel with, as well, because it is collapsible. I was worried that this would mean it’s not sturdy and effective at drying hair, but I was wrong.

This is definitely the diffuser to buy.

This Collapsible hair diffuser is very convenient to store and use. You could use it with any hair dryer. Its a good product its big and it makes your hair pretty curly. And very easy to use. Only down side is that since its collapsible it does close very easly.

But i guess that would be up to the person not to press it to hard on your head. Besided that its a great product and good price.

really really satifsfied with this diffuser, super easy to handle and you carry on the go it even comes with a little baggy(i purchased this on amazon for $15 not bad at all) ,it fits almost any blow dryer! its super nice on my curls no tangling! Its silicone also so you can move it around to your liking, very comfortable if you wanna give you scalp a little massage lol!.

The bowl is a reasonable size but the part that fits on the hairdryer is far to long. I find it difficult to hold it, especially around the back of my head. It is also quite heavy. The fitting is good and it doesn’t come off the hairdryer while in use.

I wouldn’t buy this again.

It fits! That’s the most important point I can make for anyone considering purchasing. It has a graduated rubber seal inside so that it’s suitable for lots of different dryers. On the negative side it’s a bit heavy and I feel it makes my hairdryer very hot so I only use for short bursts as don’t want to burn out my expensive hairdryer.

I’d still purchase again though.

I never thought I could find a diffuser that would fit my hairdryer as it has an odd shape nozzle. No need to worry though. This is absolutely perfect. Does the job well. You would not use it on a high heat as the warm setting is more than adequate.

I luv this dryer! I have curly hair and I was using a regular blow dryer with a diffuser on the end. That was very bulky and heavy. Eventually the diffuser broke off so I had to get a new one. i saw this dryer on the Walmart app and decided this dryer may be easy to use.

Oh was I right! So much lighter, smaller and faster drying than my old one! My curls turned out great, no frizz and so much volume! If you have cury hair, you need this blow dryer.

When other reviewers mentioned how loud this hairdryer is, especially on high, I thought they were exaggerating. They aren’t! After trying it out, my husband asked if I was watching planes land and take off.

I am not usually noise sensitive, but this sound is almost a loud shriek. I bought the hairdryer for its diffuser capability, which didn’t impress me on my first try. My hair just didn’t wave like it does if I air dry it.

I will try again to see if it works better. At least when on the Low setting, the noise was as expected from a hairdryer. I am going to see if the diffuser option works better once more before I decide to return this product.

Years ago, I bought hair dryer from Conair that was this exact shape, I think it was called the “Pancake” model, and I loved it! It was the BEST hair dryer I ever used! I have super thick, curly hair and the Conair dryer worked amazingly.

Sadly, after about three years, I dropped it and broke the diffuser, rendering it useless. I have never found another one so when I was in Ulta and saw this Bed Head version, I instantly bought it. It was nothing like the Conair.

The Bed Head dryer took 3 times longer to dry my hair. The air flow is extremely weak, but I thought maybe that was intentional to reduce frizz. My curls seemed tighter but fluffier at the same time.

After about three months, I was getting ready for work and it started barely running. At first I thought I had accidentally hit the slowest speed button by accident, but I hadn’t. I just figured it might’ve got too hot, so I let it be till a couple of days later.

I turned on the dryer and it still wouldn’t turn on at full speed, then after a few seconds, it started smoking and the element was turning red. I immediately unplugged it. I was going to return it but, by this time, I had tossed the receipt and thrown out the box.

This purchase was actually a replacement for one I had previously purchased when I treated myself to my first GHD hair dryer some months previous. While drying my hair one day the diffuser just fell off and wouldnt stay on again until the dryer had cooled down.

This became a regular occurrence until the diffuser just wouldnt stay on at all. I returned it to Hairhouse and took along my hairdryer too. With no questions asked the Manager exchanged it for another and put it down to being faulty.

Thankyou very much Hairhouse. The new one to date is staying in place which is great. I was advised to not take it on and off to often. I still feel it is quite flimsy and am extremely careful when using it – perhaps a little apprehensive.

Not something I would have expected from such an expensive product. While I do feel spoiled with my new toy and its attachment I personally dont think for the money it is that much better than my previous less expensive hairdryer/attachment products.

This review is from a male perspective as I brought this item for my own use. I’m growing my hair and following the Curly Girl Method (CGM), which if you don’t know, is a natural method to develop your natural wave or curl in your hair.

Part of the method is not to use any heat as heat damages the hair. It is recommended to let your hair dry naturally but sometimes it’s not convenient to do so and therefore the reason I purchased this item.

I had already brought the GHD hairdryer from John Lewis so decided to go for the GHD difuser attachment to go with it. Having never used a difuser before I had no idea what to expect or how to use it but it didn’t take long to figure it out.

I use this on low heat and it does a great job of drying my hair. With the CGM you use gel to form a cast and once it’s totally dry you scrunch the gel out and you are left with awesome waves and curls.

So you want to dry your hair without too much movement caused by the dryer which this difuser is perfect at doing as it distributes the air gently, evenly, and importantl, quickly. Therefore, I highly recommend this difuser for both men and women, especially if you follow the CGM.

So happy with my diffuser. I have naturally curly hair and this diffuser gives my curls bounce, volume and definition. Even my hairdresser doesn’t get my curls looking this good ! (He told me I would achieve better results than him as the GHD diffuser was better than the one he uses in the salon !) My thick hair is also dry within a few minutes.

It has meant I don’t have to wake quite so early for the day ahead. Diffuser is reasonably priced (for what it does) and it feels sturdy and of good quality. I highly recommend this product.

quite literally the biggest waste of money ever. this is my SECOND one and the exact same issue has happened twice. this product is way to expensive for it to break immediately. the plastic band that holds it onto the blow drier snapped.

both times. and no my blow drier is not too big it’s perfectly small enough. it’s just flimsy. and the inside of the hand has a metal lining which has completely broken off. this thing is NOT MEANT TO HANDLE HEAT.

this product is cheap plastic that melts under heat. the literal second i used this on my blow drier the plastic started sizzling and smoke came off of it. and that was on a medium setting. i want a full refund.

This is a great design for a diffuser! It does work faster than other diffusers I have used but obviously not as fast as not using one at all, but that’s not the point. It doesn’t tangle your hair with is huge for me.

My hair is soft and frizz free, which I don’t get from air drying or regular blow dryer. I wouldn’t say it is more curly than not using a diffuser but it could be the heavy product I am trying out in my hair with this picture.

This diffuser fits my blow dryer but you really have to make sure it is pushed on good or it will fly off which freaked me out when I turned it on. The green hand is kind of crazy looking but hey it works! I recieved this in exchange for cash back and my review.

I bought this to fit over small dual voltage blow dyer I bought for travel. Its smaller than a regular diffuser, lighter and takes up less space in my luggage and I couldnt find a diffuser to fit my travel dryer.

It works ok for my purpose but I had to put rubber band around to hold it on. My dryer is small with a short nozzle. Great for travel.

I used to only use these diffusers when I traveled, as they were very lightweight and could fit easily within even a small suitcase. I now use one at home instead of a plastic diffuser: although it’s not as large, the results are just as good on my moderately wavy hair.

The opening will eventually stretch out, making it difficult to stay on a hair dryer. To tighten it, I just squeeze the mesh together and paperclip it. Lasts much longer ;-).

Yes I’ll give this a five freaking star!!! I love my drybar blow dryer so much!!! It has your normal hot/cold settings but the heat settings are powerful and what an awesome bonus that the diffuser compliments the blow dryers power.

I really like this! My mom bought it for me for Christmas and I was able to fit it into my hair dryer (Helen of Troy dryer) and it works great! It is a bit big and bulky and is hard to take on and off so if you don’t plan to use it all of the time it could be a pain.

But I use it all the time so it works for me. Maybe it’s different on the dry bar brand ones. I love how well it dries my hair as it gathers a lot of it due to the size. It also leaves the curls very nice and curly!.

I have curly hair and a diffuser changed my life! and my look! A hairstylist used the hot sock on my hair and maybe it was a better quality one or just her professional technique, but this one simply doesn’t make my hair look like my regular diffuser.

It does help dry my hair quickly but the big bulky diffusers work much better. I suppose I will use the hot sock when I travel, and that’s all.

I will premise this review with saying that I am no hair expert. I am a very low maintenance girl, I don’t style my hair, I don’t even blow dry my hair on a regular occasion (only so I’m not going to bed with wet hair in the winter).

My 25 year old Conair blow dryer blew out and I was in the market for a new blow dryer for myself and my 3 year old sensory sensitive daughter. I was looking for something as fast and as quiet as possible as my daughter gets completely overwhelmed by hair care.

My hair is very very thick and coarse and it takes a very long time for me to blow dry my hair. I was excited at the possibility to expedite my blow drying experience. This Shark HyperAir looked promising without the price tag of a Dyson.

I will say, at first fire-up the sheer pressure emitted from the Shark HyperAir was very impressive. I thought that my hair would be sure to be dry in no time with that kind of pressure, but alas, I did not notice any marked difference in dry time from the Shark HyperAir to my 25 year old Conair.

I will say that my daughter’s hair seemed to dry a tad faster (she has thin/fine hair). Another difference I noticed was that the Shark HyperAir ran considerably cooler than I was used to. Also, our hair was noticeably smoother.

As far as the loudness of the blow dryer, I would not say that it is much different than my old dryer. Overall, for a lay person like me who just needs a plain and simple blow dryer, the Shark HyperAir’s performance doesn’t justify the cost.

I have always been a big fan of Shark products, so I am always looking for their newest product. I kept seeing this blow dryer come across my feeds on Instagram and Tik Tok, so I decided to give it a try.

I am so glad I did, because I am beyond impressed. It was packaged well, has multiple attachments, is light weight, and has a long cord, which helps when styling. Over the past month, I can tell that my hair has become healthier, shinier, and longer (which is a miracle).

I dont like shopping on Amazon because Ive had issues with them stealing small amounts out of my account that Ive had to have refunded.

Im so glad this was on EBay instead. Cheaper and shipped quickly.

The Xtava performed as I had hoped it would and defintely is an asset for me with curl/wave retention by it’s great design! Using the Xtava Black Orchid diffuser actually decreased my drying time in half! The airflow is gentle yet all encompassing over curls from it’s larger size/shape of the diffuser bowl’s design.

The original packaging is also a bonus. It’s perfect to store it in between wash days. I highly recommend this product to every curly/ wavy girl to enhance their dry time with!.

This thing is LARGE AND IN CHARGE! It took a bit of googling to figure out how to make it fit on my hair dryer (just pop out the inner ring and use the hair dryer to heat it up and its eventually malleable enough to push onto the end of the dyer OR just pull the rubber ring off from around that inner plastic ring, and slide that onto the end of the dryer before putting it back onto the diffuser) Once I got it to fit on my Conair, it has been working like a dream.

It’s giant and fits more of my hair and has great air flow, allowing me to diffuse my mane in significantly less time than before. Big thumbs up from this curly girl!.

I really wanted to like this because it was exactly what I was looking for. However, 2 months after I bought it, the coils started to get bright red, smelled burnt, and I worried it would catch on fire.

This item on Amazon has several reviews that mention this problem. Otherwise, I really liked it.

The overall shape is a little awkward, when using. The cool shot button is redundant, as the cold setting is actually colder. The biggest flaw is that the air coming out is too forceful. It is not like when using a diffuser on a regular dryer.

The whole point of a diffuser is not to disturb the curls. This does not accomplish that task. Especially not on high. It’s just ok.

I bought the Curl Collective hair dryer and diffuser together, and I am super happy with the results! Having a diffuser/dryer combo that was actually designed with curly hair in mind makes all the difference.

I have 2C/3A fine hair. My hair is much curlier at the base of my neck than at the top of my head, so I struggle with consistent curl pattern and getting lift at the roots. This system made a huge difference in both those areas.

I bought this diffuser to go with my Shark IQ hair dryer. To me this is one of the best diffusers for curly hair. The bowl is really deep. Great for getting close to the scalp and holding a lot of hair.

The prongs are adjustable. You can retract them for shorter hair. There is an adjustment to push the prongs out for longer hair. Some of the prongs have openings to allow air to flow through making drying even faster!!! As far as I’m concerned this diffuser is a Win,Win!!!.

I was gifted the Shark HyperAir dryer without this attachment. The only place I can purchase this attachment in Canada is on Shark’s website or to buy a whole hair dryer set that includes the diffuser (which is redundant, as I have the hair dryer already).

Please make this item in stock or provide other ways to obtain it. I have been trying for weeks now. Due to the shape of the Shark HyperAir, I can’t just purchase another off-brand diffuser attachment.

The head of the hair dryer is too wide, which makes this process extremely frustrating.

Hi Sam, I ordered three of the blowdryers that normally come with a diffusor from the Salon Centric Show in January. I was disappointed when I received the blowdryers with no diffusors in the box. I quoted a price to my customer assuming the diffusor would be included.

I ended up eating the cost of the diffusor. It really wasn’t a deal on the dryers in the end. I love your dryer, so. in a time of textured hair. it is time to put them back in the box and up the price.

I bought this to go with the new Rose Gold dryer. It’s perfect for cupping curls to get the most out of your curl pattern. I already have another Sam Villa dryer I use on my salon clients and wanted another one for myself.

It drys fast and gentle. I love that is has a low heat setting and also a cool setting in addition to the cool shot button. It’s also very lightweight. I had ordered a Dyson and returned it. It only made me love the Sam Villa dryer even more.

I’ll never use anything else, and they last.

I don’t know if I’ve mastered the best way to use it, and I’ve been reviewing YouTube videos for tips. My results are good, but not great. I may just need more practice with it. For me the biggest drawback was attaching it to my hair dryer.

It grips pretty tight which makes sense, but I’ve gotten to the point where I just leave it on my dryer because I sometimes feel like I am going to break the attachment ring when I put it on and take it off.

If you have naturally curly hair, this diffuser will change your life. Well, maybe not your life, but it will do wonders for your hair. Unlike some other diffusers that have rubber tips that grab onto your hair (not good if you’re avoiding frizz), it gently lifts the curls and cradles them to dry them softly.

It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. And it’s MUCH easier to travel with given the shape of it (compared to the large barrel styles).

I’m giving this 2 stars because I don’t want to be mean, and I love every other product from this company (like LOVE-LOVE) However. Why is it so hecking hard to find a diffuser that fits my dryer? It’s not like my dryer is a museum relic! My husband threw away the box (of course) (I had specifically asked him not to) but I researched the model number while giving him the what-for about the box.

I figured out what model it is! (important context: this is after getting 2 other ones that didn’t work; I didn’t realize t3 was going to be THAT DRYER that didn’t fit the drybar diffuser. Am I allowed to say drybar here?) Was there supposed to be a roll of duct tape that came with this to attach it to the dryer? So here’s where I stand with diffusers for those of you keeping track: 1 t3 returned, this one I just got and a drybar one that fits my junky hair dryer that I bought in an emergency (hair emergency!) for maybe $8 (that should’ve been my first clue it was going to end up as my “junky” hair dryer) It only works if I press the cord into the plug the whole time I’m using it, which now that I’m seeing it in writing probably isn’t very safe.

SO. To sum up: wow. Who knew I’d ever have so many Opinions about hair diffusers? Anyway, I love your products so much. But would you consider standardizing the dryer nozzles, please? I’ll still gladly buy your products if you don’t; I just thought I’d ask.

It’s OK. I need to work on diffusing my hair and how to do it. But, the problem i have is that the diffuser piece itself is hard to get on and take off. When I removed it last time, the gold rim from my blow dryer came off with it.

If the description says it’s compatible with the Featherweight and etc, then it should be just that. I don’t mind a tight fit, but an impossible fit where you can barely attach it or remove it is quite troublesome.

I have the travel T3 dryer and recently purchased this diffuser. It works just great and exactly what I needed. Don’t know why I did not get this sooner but then I have not traveled until recently. The only concern I have is if this is accidently dropped, the fittings may break off.

Since the dryer is no longer available I think I will order an extra one just in case. The other diffuser models should be able to fit but they do not.

Now I’m not one to write review for products but after using it for the first time I knew I had to share Im experience. I’ve been looking into getting a new hair dryer for a couple months and was leaning towards the Dyson hair dryer, but ultimately felt like it might not fit my needs.

So when I saw CurlSmith was releasing a hair dryer I was immediately intrigued; CurlSmith is one of my favorite brands and the size of the diffuser was much larger than I’ve ever seen. However, I’m the type of person that only buys an expensive product after doing extensive research.

Which is hard to do when the product is so new. But I decided to take a risk because of my great experience with the brand so far, and I’m so so happy I did!!! The hair dryer itself is very gorgeous and had a great feel and weight to it.

Oh and the self standing feature is definitely something I didn’t know I needed until now. Now on to the performance: I’m not going to lie, but in the first few minutes of using it I was a bit underwhelmed, I didn’t feel like it’s power was all that great.

But man was I wrong! After diffusing for about 15 minutes my hair about half way dry, and then completed dry in 30 minutes or so. Compared to my old dryer which took almost an hour to fully dry my thick 3b hair.

Left very little, if any frizz behind and my hair had more volume. Honestly would recommend this hair dryer to everyone! Bonus it never felt too hot against my scalp and it didn’t make me feel hot either.

First impression: it looks like a satellite dish. It’s way bigger then the cult favorite that rhymes with hack shore bird. This is the titanic of all diffusers. It looks fragile It came in a big box that included the hair dryer, and three diffuser attachments.

1) Goliath bowl diffuser 2) comb diffuser: it helps give volume at the roots 3) regular diffuser that helps straighten the hair. User manual with tips The hair dryer is very soft touch and has this rubberized material.

It’s very light even with the behemoth bowl diffuser. If you have weak wrists it can actually stand on its own, and you can just pour your hair in to it which is a plus. My only concern was that the bowl diffuser itself looks like it will break easily if you accidentally drop it.

But once I had it clipped on to my hair dryer , it clung on tight like an ex lover who refuse to let go. It has a cool setting as well as a low, medium , and high heat setting. Also speed setting. Overall impression: I was actually quite impressed by this.

With no reviews I was hesitant to purchase this, but I’m glad I did. It reduced dry time, made my wavy hair bouncy and really kept the shape. It helped create a nice cast, with the least amount of products I styled my hair with.

I was actually able to put all of my hair in the bowl which is great. Even heat distribution with drying. Reduced frizz. Overall I was very impressed with this dryer, and it produced amazing results.

I haven’t tried the other two diffuser attachments so I can’t comment on that. But still well worth it.

This dryer is amazing. I thought it was a bit pricey but it’s not much different than other salon quality dryers and the diffuser is HUGE but light. It’s about 3x as large as my regular diffuser that I was using and it dries my thick curly hair in 15 or so minutes.

Has several heat and strength settings and cool. It stands on its own so you can use it hands free too. It comes with several attachments, including a pick, which I have no idea how to use to create lift at the roots because the teeth are too close together and way too much air blows through and messes up your curls.

The instruction book does not tell you how to use the pick. I guess they thought it was common sense but I have no clue. I use a regular pick with the diffuser instead and that works for me. I really really love this dryer and can’t say enough good things about it.

My curls look great and are super soft and shiny.
