20 Best Diet Dry Dog Food (2023 Updated)

I mean I hate to rate this product this low as the companies founder seems well versed and educated in canine diets. Along with the raving reviews of other customers dogs really showing satisfaction with their pets increase in energy, skin and coat health and just overall major signs of a healthy dog within 2 to 3 weeks of the initial switch to ketona’s dog food recipes.

So many reviews have that 2-3 week week rave… and at their industry leading highest price range for a lil over 20lbs of dog food. As loving dog owners, i myself put my dogs diet over mine it seems, that’s what we all want to hear as I assume most of us ended up here after a Google search in desperation trying to find the food that my dog (an Alaskan malamute) would finally have a food that fit her high protein, low carb needs.

I’m at that 2-3 week mark of being consistent with the company’s instruction of how to start to feed their food and adjust as needed. Man I want to say my 5 yr old female mal was acting her age again and losing that dull dry coat dander sheen we’ve come into this incredibly hot summer.

I want more than anything to be reviewing in agreement with the 4/5 star reviews this food as but i can’t. This chicken recipe as literally exactly the opposite of those reviews and exasperated my dogs discomfort.

The sheen has turned to dry and really dirty feeling with her dry skin being so bad and flakey it looks like someone took her into the rice fields in Asia, 10 times as bad as the pert plus dandruff shampoo commercials of the 90s where it looks like someone sneezed that powdered butter stuff you add to popcorn for post pop butter flavor additive… her thyroid as been checked and I’ve never had any issue with chicken allergies prior to this.

I’m unsure what they’re using as “chicken protein†in this recipe but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it’s an allergic reaction. That’s the only reason it’s not 1 star… is I still have faith this food is gonna help my dog and the recipe selection was to blame and not the company’s it’s self.

So I went ahead and ordered my second purchase of ketona’s food, in 2 weeks, In hopes they live up to there marketing promises of better nutritional canine needs being met. Almost $300 in dog food for 1 dog in two weeks… is apparently what I’m willing to risk on you guys and your company and the products you provide are gonna help my dog find the comfort she deserves.

Please live up to your company’s business statement with this salmon recipe, I’m betting on you guys!!!.

I have a large pack of 7! 5 boxers, 1 pit/lab and now one French bulldog. My breeds have been susceptible to allergies and ear infections. Since changing to this food, the only alkaline food on the market not only have I been able to rid everyone of any itching, redness or break out I don’t have any ear infections either! I have been using this brand about 5 years now and will never change.

Their coats are shiny, they are a healthy weight, they have energy, but most of all they are free of anything that used to make them miserable. They also love the food. They have a variety of flavors as well and easy to interchange without any upset stomachs!!! Absolutely love this product!.

I know how opinions are on dog foods, everybody has their own, right? I had never heard of Canine Caviar before. The breeder we got our Lab from is VERY health-focused with her Labs. She has been feeding Canine Caviar for around 20 years, almost as long as CC has been a company.

She has been a loyal customer since and recommended it to us. So far we have been really impressed. One caveat: contrary to what you see on most dog foods, the serving sizes on the bag are pretty conservative in my opinion, so depending on your breed and activity level, you may find you need to feed more than is listed on the bag.

My boy has been eating Hill’s Diet food products for most of his life. He was eating Prescription Diet Metabolic and Mobility for a few years, but feeding time was always a chore. He wouldn’t want to eat it unless topped with boiled chicken breast pieces or canned prescription diet food.

It was expensive enough that I hated wasting food (because he’d eat around it), but as it was prescribed, I didn’t want to not follow his vet’s orders UNTIL there were “supply-chain problems” and that food became extremely expensive and unavailable.

I took advantage of that inability to acquire the more expensive prescription diet food and switched almost very abruptly to this slightly-less-expensive food. It’s the only time that I’ve seen him eat dry food voraciously just for the taste of it since he was an actual puppy and ate to please me.

He’s five now and knows what he wants and has no problems expressing himself when he’s not happy. This food makes meal time less stressful. I love hearing him crunching on his dry food, but I also know that I can trust the brand for healthful and nutritious meals.

At first, I worried about abandoning the prescription diet because it has the added supplements for his arthritic joints. But these newly-formulated options also have the Glucosamine and Chondroitin that the vet recommends and, just in case this formula has less than what is recommended for therapeutic levels, he is still taking the supplements with MSM as well.

That, he does to make me happy; he eats this food out of pure joy. Is it the Lamb and brown rice? I don’t know. All I know is that I am not throwing away food anymore.

The food has done an amazing job of clearing the plaque and tartar of my dog’s teeth. Unfortunately, the food has only been able to clear the tartar and plaque on one side of her back teeth. I don’t believe this is due to the food, but rather that she chews the food on one side of her back teeth.

As much as the food has worked it did, however, take some experimentation to get her to eat the food, so here’s some tips and tricks to get your dog to eat the food. 1. Serve the food in the mornings as their first meal of the day (they will have no choice but to eat it.

) 2. Serve the food with some of their favorite wet dog food. (They will be familiar with the wet dog food and it will entice them to eat the new food. ) 3. If your dog is a picky eater or has sensitive teeth, you can add some water and microwave it for 10 to 15 seconds.

(Depending) 4. If you’re desperate you can add their favorite wet dog food and microwave it. The smell of the wet dog food will get very strong that it will make them curious to the new food. 5. When microwaving and adding wet dog food be careful, don’t make the food too soft.

The idea of the size and hardness of the food is that it takes your dog longer to chew which will have your dog use their back teeth. 6. Rotate the food with their regular food. So far these tricks have not affected the effectiveness of the food.

My senior dog gained weight and was having constipation issues. Even senior formulas have too many calories for her. My vet recommended I put her on a diet food of my choice. Not only would this help her loose weight, and keep it off, but the extra fiber would help her constipation troubles.

For me, it was a choice between this and Purina Pro Plan. I choose this food as it has about 300 cals per cup as well as having a good fiber content. Simply cutting her portions down more wasn’t helpful as she would simply be consuming too little nutrients and feel hungry.

My dog loves the taste of this food. It seems to smell ok to me (for dog food). This food will make your dog have massive poops, but that is great for my dog who needed the extra fiber. Her issues were beyond pumpkin.

After a transition to this food she is very regular. My dog has lost weight after one bag. She is currently almost 3lb down. She wasn’t massively overweight, but her ideal weight is probably about 62-65 and she was a hefty 70! Weight loss in animals can be slow, but even a few pounds makes a massive difference.

She already looks leaner and has more desire to excersize. I’ll probably keep her on this food long term once she is healthy and bump up the serving size to maintenance.

I have senior dogs (all rescued) who are somewhat sedentary despite the big backyard they can run and play in and they are starting to develop joint issues associated with their age. My oldest is 15 years old, (Lab mix) and she is kind of shaky.

This product is easy for her to digest and provides her with some joint relieve because of its ingredients. My recent rescue is a Miniature Pinscher and her previous owner over fed her. I am still working on her weight issues and she has some hindquarter strength issue that give this eight year old some trouble, so this product is good for her because the kibbles are small size for her to bite.

They (all four of my spoiled dogs) don’t seem to have any bowel issues or gas problems with this product. I mix it with wet food and feed them daily. I like this product also because it is manufactured in the USA.

Two senior dogs prefer this food over Blue Buffalo Senior Large Breed. They had stopped eating their food as soon as the bowl was put down so I decided to try another brand. Well we’re three weeks into the switch and they have definitely lost some weight around their midsections with feeding the recommended portion amount and have more spunk.

They eat their food as soon as its put down so they like the flavor. My toddler has “helped” by opening the food bin and feeding the dogs again herself after Ive already fed them and they just leave the bowl alone, so I know they’re content with the recommended portion amount.

No stool issues noticed either. Victor Senior Healthy Weight is now our go to brand. Sorry I didn’t switch earlier.

It’s amazing how small minded so many people are and it shows in how they write reviews. Making blanket statements like “dogs hate it” and “the worst” followed by 1 star ratings. The truth is, YOUR dog hated it.

Maybe your dog’s taste sucks due to an unrefined palette?! Then you have drama queens that love to hyperbolize with words like ‘the worst’. Really? According to whom, YOU? Moving on. Instead speak on YOUR experience by using words like ‘I, me, mine, ours, my experience, MY dog etc.

’ rather than speaking in a manner as if you have any real authority in the matter. Only then will your reviews be useful to anyone and/or the brand.

I will be frank with my review. My pit mix has had stomach sensitivities since I got him, and he is a year and a half old now. Mushy stools were his norm. My vet recommended Science Hill but I hesitated due how negatively media portrays corn in dog food.

Fast forward to one particularly bad case of the runs and vomiting, my vet gave me Hill’s Prescription Diet. I was amazed at how well it worked! His stool was firmer than I’d have ever seen. Up to this point we had tried just about everything: pumpkin, pre and probiotics, digestive enzymes, grain free, cutting out proteins, cutting out treats, literally NOTHING worked! I thought back to my vet’s original recommendation and chose to do some additional research.

With my new found knowledge, I decided to give Hills a try and purchased this food for him. My boy has not yet been completely transitioned, we’re about a week into feeding 50/50. And even still, his poo is firm and leaves no residue! And no more gas! This food is a life saver! I’m so glad my vet trusts this brand or I probably would never have tried it.

WARNING!!! STAY AWAY FROM RACHEL RAY!!! First off, wtf does she know about dog food? Secondly. immediately no. Go ask your vet. They’ll tell you the same thing. RR pet food has been causing some MAJOR health problems and concerns for pets parents all around.

Cats and dogs. There are a ton of chemicals and additives and bad things that are not on the ingredients list found in the food. I was using this kibble for Mars, my 3yr old Chinese Shar Pei, and at first she was fine.

She seemed to like the beef better than the other flavors. But I would find that she would either be severely constipated or have the runs all day. I couldn’t figure out why. My mother is a holistic health coach and did some research and we added coconut oil and water more into her diet.

It helped a bit, but then she started shedding like crazy. And Shar Pei’s don’t shed a lot. So when I finally took her to see her vet, she asked me what her daily/average diet was. Once I mentioned RR, she immediately told me to change her food.

Long story short, her vet texted me some info on RR dog food and I changed her kibble. Almost a month later all that stopped. Her skin started clearing up, shedding like normal, no poop problems. STAY AWAY!!.

1st time trying this food after hearing positive things, it was a disaster for our dogs. Lethargic, curled up not feeling well, urgency to go outside and some not making it. Grass eating, drinking large amounts of water, needing to relieve themselves from it.

Overall something is off about the recipe. Our dogs have switched to other brands and have rarely experienced this kind of reaction to a new food. Initially they were hesitant to eat it dry and we added a bit of warm water to entice them to.

We have xl to tcup sized dogs and all reacted the same to it, very sickly. I would not recommend this food to anyone.

I have 5 Dobermans and 1 greyhound that require a well balanced, high quality food. I had been feeding Purina ONE SmartBlend True Instinct, but it became difficult to buy consistently and was frequently out of stock.

I tried 2 alternates and wasn’t satisfied with the results. I checked out the ingredients and nutritional values of Nutrish and compared them to others. I gradually switched them over as suggested and was very pleased with the results.

All my dogs LOVED it, even the more picky greyhound. Their coats are shiny, and the stools are firm. I highly recommend this for large dogs like mine.

Our rescue Weimaraner Pitbull mix pup, who was extremely emaciated, has done extremely well on this food. She is now up to a healthy weight and maintaining eating Dr Gary’s Best Breed. Her skin, coat and teeth are very healthy.

Most notably, her coat is soft and shiny, looks and feels like velvet. Our vet was unfamiliar with the brand and recommended we switch to Science Diet, which we did not do because of bad experiences with SD in the past.

We stayed with the recommendation of the rescue we got our sweet pup from, and so glad we did. I would highly recommend this food to anyone looking for an excellent quality food. Our pup loves it and gives Dr.

Gary’s a 5 paw rating!.

We have a 13 year old dog with allergies and had been using grain free food for years. We went to a new Vet and they told us that using grain free food was actually bad for dogs hearts. We actually hadn’t seen alot of changes with the grain free and his allergies, so we were willing to try something new.

The Vet told us it’s usually the beef or chicken, not the grain so we switched to the Salmon based food. Within 2 weeks our dogs are already seeing better results, our senior dog is having less ear build up than he has in years.

He isn’t shaking and itching all the time and isn’t miserable with his allergies. We love Dr. Gary’s food and this just made it that much better for our fur babies!.

When our medium golden doodle was 7 months old, he began to develop periodic diarrhea and would go through bouts of loose stools. He was eating Fromm with chicken for puppies. Switched to Purina Pro Plan, first with chicken then with salmon, but really did no good.

Our vet recommended Royal Canin and Science Diet. When I went to buy some, a knowledgeable locally-operated pet store owner suggested that we try Dr. Gary’s Coldwater Recipe (new name for Salmon with vegetables).

During the last 2 months, our guy has been fine. Zero digestive issues, firm stools, and he loves the food. I would highly recommend Dr. Gary’s – food produced by a family company in Ohio using quality ingredients and no garbage fillers.

Let me start by saying that I wanted a top quality puppy food for our micro-sized Chihuahua. I went with a raw-boost dry food and the poor little thing had runny stools for 2 weeks straight. Our vet told us it was simply “too rich” a food for small dogs.

I’m not thrilled that this Hill’s Science Diet Puppy formula has some questionable things listed as the first 5 ingredients: (Chicken Meal, Whole Grain Wheat, Cracked Pearled Barley, Whole Grain Sorghum* a grain*, Whole Grain Corn,.

) It’s a pretty grain heavy food and not what I’d call top quality. All that being said, my 1lb Chihuahua did very well on this food. She has normal bowl movements, eats it without issue, and has gained weight steadily while on it (from 1lb to 3lbs in approx 6 months).

Her coat is glossy, & her muscle definition is great. She’s perky & energetic as well. She’s a shelter rescue pup, and due to poor genetics due to overbreeding, she will remain very tiny, not likely exceeding 3.

5 lbs total). The fact is, she’s done very well on this food. Yeah, the protein level is lacking in this food, but an ultra high protein food would be rough on her tiny little liver. It seems that this puppy formula relies almost exclusively on carbohydrates as it’s energy source.

It’s been good for her thus far; but I plan to look for a slightly more balanced adult food for her once she is about 11 months old. Long term, High carb foods are really not ideal for any dogs teeth, or weight, or overall health.

I persevered to give this to my 18 month old Maltipom since she was 3 months old solely for the nutrition benefit. I mixed it with various food as she inherited the Maltese fussy food trait. I started her on a fresh 7kg bag 2 months ago and 2 weeks in she declined whereby she would lay on her mat most of the day.

Her stool became runny until it stopped altogether, she began to vomit daily and after numerous vet tests over 2 weeks whilst on a chicken only diet, the cause could not be found. I again gave her one portion of Hills Science Diet of a morning and by the afternoon she was so unwell again.

I put her on chicken only again for a week then offered Royal Canine as she was getting better. She ate like there was no tomorrow and within days she was back to her usual bouncy self. I share my experience solely for awareness that this product may not be suitable for all dogs and have adverse reactions.

This is what my dog was fed in the shelter and I decided to keep buying it for her and she loved it. However, I think there might be something wrong or different about the last bag I purchased (arrived in late Aug/early Sept).

She went from gobbling it down to not touching it all day, basically just eating treats, and only finally eating it when she was starving. I even tried pulverizing the kibble with a rolling pin and mixing it with other foods (coconut oil; Kong paste; her new food – and she would spit out the kibble bits and only swallow the other food).

After about a week and a half, I ended up switching brands (FreshPet) and she’s eating normally again. I noticed I’m not the only one this has happened to, which now, really makes me think it’s definitely the food, and not her! Bummer, because I got the 35 lbs.

My dog does not like this food at all; however, she’s a very picky eater in general so I don’t entirely blame the food itself. My main problems are that they don’t offer smaller bag sizes, and that they don’t offer this food in smaller pieces for smaller dogs (as they do with the regular, non-low-fat i/d gastrointestinal dry food).

I suspect that my dog might still have some tooth pain (she’s already had 6 teeth removed), and she doesn’t like crunchy, hard foods. This food is just too hard for her to chew on, especially since the pieces are larger and she can’t really swallow it whole like she would with smaller pieces (given that she’s a small dog).

She has pancreatitis so we have no choice but to feed her low-fat prescription food, and this brand/type is what my vet recommended, and it’s also one of the cheaper-ish low-fat options. But unfortunately she won’t eat it, so I have to spend more money and only feed her the canned wet food version of this food.

Also, when I was feeding her the original non-low-fat i/d gastrointestinal dry food (in the Small Bites form), she absolutely loved the flavor, and my whole family agreed that it even smelled like a familiar type of human food that we couldn’t put our finger on (it smelled pretty good, as far as dog food goes).

But this low-fat version just smells like bland, typical dog food. I wish that the flavor of this low-fat dry food would be enhanced.

When my Bear was diagnosed with pancreatitis, he was one sick sweet dog! Before that, he’d had issues but I never could figure out what was wrong and neither did Vet I went to before I switched. My new vet prescribed Hills low fat and everything changed for Bear! I’m strict about his diet now, too.

No people food other than maybe some apple slices on occasion. He eats this and the Hills low fat in the can. I also give him Hills low fat treats. He also has another brand of treats that are low fat that I buy from Chewy.

But the Hills digestive care has turned everything around. Bear’s coat is shinier. His stools look normal for the first time in years. He has more energy. He lost a little weight. He’s one happy dog! And, he eats it up so I guess it tastes great to him too.

He prefers the canned version but I don’t feed him that as often as the dry. Love this food and love Chewy for delivering it so quickly to me. They’re super friendly and helpful too. Recommend!.

This is my 2nd 27. 5# bag. The 1st bag had a black and white Border Collie, I believe, and the kibble was smaller. The new bags have a Schnauzer on and the kibble is bigger. It must taste different because my dog immediately noticed a difference just smelling it too.

She has a swallowing and digestive disorder, along with high triglycerides. After day 2 on a new bag, she started having issues. Why would you change a good thing! Leaving current customers, who obviously need a special food, looking for a new food and dealing with a distressed dog! We cannot just keep getting prescriptions and trying a bunch of different foods to resolve a health issue that was under control.

Really disappointed in this company!!!.

Ok, I have a 3 year old Dachshund. Over the past years, Lexie has gained quite of bit of weight. We tried just about every dog food on the market and cut back on treats, etc. Nothing changed. To my pleasure, my dog loves this Blue Buffalo Natural Vet diet food and eats it faithfully everyday.

Honestly, I can’t believe it the difference and fills up her, too. I highly recommend this dog food, its changed her diet, I see she’s starting to lose weight and has much more energy. Dog Mom is over the top happy.

Per Veterinery doctor’s recommendation we switched food for our 9 yo girl. Guess what?! She’s lost 1 pound in 3 weeks with more walk and this food! The best part is that our picky eater fur-baby girl LOVES this food! We switched around 4-5 foods after adopted her.

And this is the second dog food she immediately gobbled. Amazing! Hoping she loose few more pounds sometime soon.

Cannot praise this food enough. My ESD should weigh 60, but had gotten up to 84 before starting him on this food, which he loved immediately and hasn’t gotten tired of. Now, he is back to 60 after just over a year on the food, and he has more energy to play and exercise than ever before.

I need him to be healthy and happy so he can be of support to people, and thanks to this company and this food, he’s in the best shape he’s ever been. 10/10!.

I love this food. Odin is a 13. 8 pound Maltese at the start of eating this. Immediately my vet recommended this to me as I asked what I could do to drop his weight. Odin likes to eat out of his big brothers bowl (basset) who obviously gets a higher protein based food for his diet.

After starting this food, he obviously hated it because who would want a salad compared to a steak? But after adding some carrots and radishes, Odin learnt that this is actually pretty darn good food! I had this delivered on Feb 11, and as of today Odin is 13 pounds even.

It really does do a lot and obviously you won’t see instant results, he’s not going to drop 2 pounds in a month, but any weight loss is good for me! I’m super proud of this food and would recommend this to anyone with a chubby dog.

He still is a picky eater over it but he knows it’s there and activity eats it! Please also keep in mind, I had Odin on Nulo weight loss food for a while and it added more weight than it took off, so I have had experience going through Weightloss food just for this boy!.

My dog is a 16 year old hugh black male pitbull who has developed several problems in his old age including an occasional sensitive digestive system. He seemed to be vomiting everything that he ate all of a sudden.

It looked as if he wasn’t digesting this food at all, it just kept coming up. I always give him the best quality of food that money can buy, because when I rescued him, I vowed that I would help him live out his life by living up to his fullest potential.

Consequently, I researched the Hills diet for adult dogs with sensitive digestive systems. Besides from the fact that he loves the taste, it really solved the problem after having him eat it for a short period of time.

Now he is back to eating his regular food and being full of energy acting like he is 6, instead of 16 years old. Rarely do I write and endorse a product, because most of the time I feel like I am too busy to respond.

However; I do love my “Rocks” and this food has helped him tremendously.

After growing up on Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Lamb and Oat formula, our corgi refused to eat from the last 3 bags we ordered of the Purina food. We think they changed the formula, and with a picky eater on our hands we were high and dry.

We ordered a bunch of 4lb bags of different foods to find one that our boy would eat, and this one was a clear winner! After a few blind taste tests, we let him smell all the bags and choose his favorite (during the test her refused to eat the pro plan but happily ate everything else).

He went straight for the bag and kept swatting it with his paw, trying to get us to give him more of it. He LOVES it and his skin and stomach seem to be handling it just fine, even with an abrupt feeding change as I wasn’t going to make him eat the bad food any longer.

It’s so funny to watch him follow the scent in the air to his freshy poured food, like the old cartoons. SO glad to find this food!.

My big girl Samoyed normally gets a different brand of diet food – for a reason. She is not easily satiated. Her other food is made to help with this problem, but at this time, it is extremely difficult to come by.

So, she readily eats the purina brand (which I am extremely grateful for), but is begging for more within 15min. It hurts my heart and is not easy to have a dog on a constant hunt for food -any food including birdseed and who cries and begs and begs for more.

I think it would be wonderful if Purina made a low calorie satiety support food!.

I rarely write reviews but this product is worth the time. My bulldog has been on another prescription food for over a year. She hated it. It was always a struggle to get her to eat. With this she is anxiously awaiting her dinner time.

The Select Blend is definitely the way to go. The little chicken bites make all the difference.

I have a Rottweiler who became overweight as my sickness progressed. We tried other prescription plans that caused her to become sick. Since we already used proplan we gave the prescription a try. Within a week her energy level increased and her gas is non-existent now.

In three weeks she’s lost 5 lbs. It looks very promising.

My dog has been on this food for almost a year. She has a thyroid issue, and while she hasn’t lost much weight, she hasn’t gained any either. My pup turns up her nose to most of the dry foods on the market, but goes crazy for this stuff!! People always comment on how my dog has most firm poops they’ve ever seen (very weird, I know) but I’ve got to say, it’s so true! Her skin and coat are also in the best condition I’ve seen, and I attribute it all to this food.

We have a Corgi that would eat 24/7 if she had her way. After Blue Buffalo Wilderness quit making Healthy weight for small breed we looked for a dog food that met the same criteria of a grain free dog food.

The Acana Light and Fit met this criteria. Another important factor was the Calorie Content of the dog food. The calorie content was slightly low than the other food. Our dog loved the Acana. Our daughters dog another small breed loved the Acana as well ignoring her food to eat the Acana while visiting from out of town.

The ingredients changed summer of 2022. I started my dog on this brand years ago for the probiotics and holistic factor as I did the research and found the ingredient list to be high quality. Post Covid I understand things have been changing on many levels when the bag weight was decreased from 30lb to 28lb.

Unfortunately the bag label also changed and as I finished the old bag happened to notice the kibble was significantly drier and smaller. So I looked at the label and found variances although the bag says nothing about a new formula.

Probiotics went from 31million CFU to 10 million. New product added taurine. No iron on new label but ingredient list shows Iron Proteinate (same as original and still 9th ingredient from last; so I can only assume there’s no less than 275 mg), new has no vitamin c, more egg than barley, and a couple other variances.

Due to lack of transparency and visual quality variance, I’m personally inclined to doubt quality of manufacturer as it’s clearly not the same. I’m still buying this for my dog but looking around. Im not saying this is horrible food.

I purchased intentionally at onset in lieu of adding probiotics to food. 10 bil CFU is standard, so the new food does provide the daily allowance. I’m on the fence why they wouldn’t indicate there’s a change and for not labeling iron as a mineral.

The way the ingredients list changed doesn’t seem like a big deal but when I look at quality, I can see noticeable difference as to something I may not give my dog. It looks grey instead of moist, rich and nutritious.

For these reasons, I suspect the nutrition label isn’t telling the whole story. Also, you’d probably not notice a new volume weight because the bag doesn’t point out/ advertise *new size but does list it on the bottom.

The price is still the same, and effort went into changing packaging so the 2lbs is barely noticed. Chewy CS confirmed the size change moving forward, when I inquired. I guess it’s up to interpretation if these are concerns but wanted to share what info isn’t being shared transparently from the manufacturer and misidentified nutritional content labeling.

I usually swap bags and never would’ve known this formula changed had I not saw the kibble was dry. I actually thought it was a bad batch of food but guess this is the new normal for Dr Gary’s. Photos show quality and mind you that the old large kibble recipe was at the bottom of my food container and lost some of the moisture.

The fresh out of bag nuggets looked almost wet but you can see what you were getting considering how healthy it still looks, months after opening.

We are SO happy with this formula of food! It has been impossible to find kibble that is above 550 kcals for my poodle who can not keep any weight on. This kibble was the perfect match though. It fit my budget better than the competing brands with similar kcals and formulas and it also was a win for my SUPER picky poodle who sometimes will go many days without eating if he doesn’t like the food.

He scarfed his first bowl of this down with no problems! We are going to pair it with the freeze dried food we use and hopefully this will be the food to FINALLY put some healthy weight on my scrawny boy! I’m also very pleased with how well it was manufactured.

The bag came very tightly sealed and has a zipper seal so it can be kept right in the bag and stay fresh! We will be buying this food again! It’s a lesser known brand (honestly hoping it stays that way so I don’t have to go on crazy searches like I do for our old foods that constantly were out of stock!).

Love the quality of this food, love that my Great Dane loves it. the packaging is the BEST I’ve ever seen. all great except the kibble is so small my cats can eat it! This is Giant Breed specific dog food.

why cannot the kibble be giant sized too! Ugh. anyone with a large jowled dog, I’m sure would agree this small kibble is a pain. one look to the left. all over the floor. one look to the right. all over the floor!!! Unfortunately, my Dane will not eat off the floor.

well that is Fortunate in other aspects, anyway he eats his food from a standing dog feeder and therefore more distance for it to fall from his mouth and more momentum to bounce off his rug onto the hardwood floor which gives it just the right platform to bounce, tumble and roll all over the place! But with all that and it’s a big pain, picking it up and it’s like stepping on a pebble when you are barefoot and that just hurts but with even that, I continue to buy.

because all the good in this dogfood out weighs all that! Its truly the best food that my dog loves that I have ever found. Now my dog isn’t really picky. He will eat what I give him at least a little or when he is just really hungry but he gets excited for this food even still now after feeding him it for at least 4-5 months now.
