20 Best Detergent For He Washers (2023 Updated)

Some detergents tend to make clothes fade, feel stiff or the pictures peel and the fabric pills. None of this has happened!! I love being able to throw the cup in the washer and this stuff lasts a long time (I’m talking towels, bedding, and clothes multiple times a month for almost a full year) Smells like perfume but I like it and the smell fades out during the washing process anyways if you think it’s too strong or your fabric softener will overpower it.

Getting another gallon of it now!.

I had used Cheer Colorguard Liquid Laundry Detergent for many years, but have not seen it in the store for the past year & thought it was discontinued. I wash all my clothes, towels, etc. after one use so it is important that the detergent does not damage or cause wear in the items washed after frequent washes.

Recently I bought some dark clothing that I really liked, after one washing with Tide which I also like, the clothing looked faded, almost as if these items were very old & worn out. I washed them as I wash all dark clothes, so I am not sure why that happened.

After another wash & more fading, I searched for my old favorite Cheer Colorguard Liquid Laundry Detergent and found it here at Target. I was thrilled to see it had not been discontinued. I have been washing mainly dark’s with the Cheer Colorguard Liquid Laundry Detergent & have not seen any more fading or damage to the clothing.

I have also used it with light clothes & it works as well as in the past. The scent it light & nice, it cleans very well & most importantly does not fade dark clothing. I am very happy that Target carries Cheer Colorguard Liquid Laundry Detergent and plan to continue buying it.

Cheer Colorguard Liquid Laundry Detergent is the best for darker clothes, I just wish I had found it before washing the clothes that are now faded. I would recommend Cheer in the future & have already.

I have been using Cheer laundry detergent for over 40 years. To my dismay I was not able to find this product on store shelves. Thankfully, online shopping saved the day. Cheer is gentle, fragrant smelling and compatible with my washing machine requirements.

Hope it is never discontinued as so many others products are.

I was told by the washing machine manufacturer to switch to a powder because it’s better for the high energy machines. I chose Gain for no particular reason. When I got the box home and opened it the product has an overpowering chemical smell like bad cheap perfume.

The smell almost immediately pervaded my basement and my whole house. I did a load of wash and the clothes felt as though they had a residue on them. When I put them through the dryer they still smelled of the Gain detergent, even after I folded them and put them away in the dresser, then the whole dresser smelled of gain.

That night I put on a pair of pajamas from that load of wash and within a half an hour my eyes were sore and itchy and I had a headache from the smell on the pajamas. Stay away from Gain if chemical residue and synthetic frangrances bother you.

I finally had to remove the box of detergent from my basement and throw it in the trash outside.

I happened to purchase Gain this year and was AMAZED at how well it works! Oh my goodness, liquid or powder is fantastic. I washed a shirt in Gain that had a stain that would not wash out using a different detergent, not even after stain treating.

I gave up on it. One wash in Gain and the stain was gone! Same thing with other clothing. Colors stay crisp and bright. I love the Hawaiian scent too but was hoping it would be more tropical and floral.

Regardless it has a nice clean scent that makes doing laundry a pleasure instead of a chore. I especially like using the powder for my whites which turn out bright and pretty. Try Gain and you will be amazed at how well it removes dirt, stains, and grime.

It is great for delicates too. It makes old items look new again.

I want try something new for my laundry. Gain Fabric dry sheets doesn’t let me down. The clothes came out very nice , extra fresh , smelling very good ( a little bit strong for me ) and last long. I don’t see anything different with another product except the scent.

With wrinkle, I don’t think it work. A little bit pricey. Still like it but not my first choice when buy stuff for laundry. Will repurchase when it on sale.

I think I am living under the rock, why didn’t I know that Whirlpool have introduced their laundry detergent brand. First I thought that it will only work in whirlpool brand washing machines luckily that was not the case.

As a mom of hyperactive boys I always struggled to clean their messy yucky clothes and need extra detergent in my wash cycle. This detergent have 8x concentration which means you need less than regular detergent.

The smell isn’t overpowering which is great. It has nice clean Linen scent. I absolutely loved this detergent my only concern is that I let my elderly mom try it and she struggles a bit with squeezing.

Other then that its perfect.

I have a front loading HE Maytag and this detergent deeply cleans clothing and towels and leaves them brighter, whiter, stain-free and oh so importantly, smelling fresh! Not overly perfume/synthetic smell, but just clean clothes smell.

Surprisingly pleasant, not over-bearing, not offensive, clean smell. No liquid softener needed. I have tried every detergent manufactured, including european brands, expensive boutique brands, and anything available at the super market, costco, drugstore, and specialty market and NOTHING performs as nicely.

Completely impressed with Tide Coldwater HE. Will continue to use exclusively.

Yes yes yes and yes. One of my deep life pet peeves is laundry soap running all over everything. Having to rinse the cap in the sink. Or even tho the bottle is designed to make it run back into the bottle it runs down the side and makes a mess.

This cap is genius. I love it so much that I would probably buy a bottle of it and out other detergent in it if if didn’t get the clothes clean. However it gets the clothes clean. The smell isn’t overpowering which is great.

I also don’t like smelly soap and I accidentally ordered scented instead of unscented. I can actually live with it. I can’t believe I am this excited about laundry detergent. It’s not any more expensive than other soap because it’s concentrated.

I cannot find your product without aroma boost. I am horribly allergic to it. We bought a large container and I had to throw it out, rewash my laundry and air my house out. Could not get rid of the dang smell.

You lost a lifetime customer. I am switching to Tide. At least I can use that without having a reaction to the fragrance.

I have been using this for years! I was sad, no mad to see it lessened on the grocery shelves! What’s wrong with you folks? Just the other day my daughter had to use my washer and she could not believe how her laundry smelled so good after she took it home! Her teenager said “ I don’t have to wear perfume because I smell so good!” The liquid, Tabs, don’t work the same as the detergent! Don’t get rid of it! Original Gain Detergent all the way!.

Disheartened – went to store to pickup my normal 120 load powdered box and had to settle for 2 80 load boxes. The boxes have been made skinnier and taller – it (the 120 load box) will now NOT FIT in the underwasher drawers.

What gives – who thought that was a good design move? I will be looking at competitor’s brands as pricing for the 80 load boxes is more per load.

The first time using this detergent it ruined some of my lighter colored clothes. I washed a load of laundry (on cold setting, as Always) with an Older red shirt that I have already washed Many Times before with Cheer Laundry Detergent over the past 4 years or more, and this detergent made the red color bleed and left pink patches on several of the other clothes in the load.

I don’t even know how that could be possible with a shirt that old that has been washed so many times before. This product has to be defective. This detergent says it has color guard, but that is Very False.

This product Should Be removed from the shelves before it causes any more damage to customers clothing, or damage to the Members Mark brand (which usually has pretty good quality products).

Thank I used to purchase Gain or Tide but when the inflation happened, I decided to cut cost when I could. I didn’t have very high hopes, but man was I in for a surprise!! This is WAY better than the branded names.

I smell my clothes when I wearing them, and there have been stains that were set in that the other hadn’t got cleaned, and this one cleaned it and the stain was actually gone!! I cannot recommend this enough!!! We will never buy other brands ever again!.

I bought this detergent to wash my mom’s clothes and bedding. She has dementia and wakes up really wet. It DOES NOT do anything. So far, as I’m writing this review, I’m washing the load for the second time.

It came out with the same smell the first time. So, unless you’re the person whose clothes still smell like perfume at the end of the day, don’t waste time or money on this.

I don’t know about anybody else but I personally love for my laundry to smell good. Always have, always will. This scent is non existent. I ordered the “fresh air” scent expecting it to have maybe like a linen scent or something but it’s nothing.

Totally odorless. For once I’m disappointed in a target brand item. I don’t know if this is the same problem for the other scents for this product. they’re all fruity and I don’t like fruity smelling laundry so I didn’t bother trying them.

I gave it two stars because it simply gets my clothes clean which I guess is the point but really any detergent does that.

I thought I’d try a different detergent, after learning that plant-based laundry soaps are better for septic systems. Some research led me back to Method, which I already like for their body washes. This product is awesome! I love the scent and only a tiny capful is needed, so no more excessive bubbles.

I went back and purchased more bottles during a $15 gift card promotion, so now I’m all set when I run out of laundry detergent. This might be a while, as each small bottle washes 66 loads. This is definitely my new favorite product.

IšverstiShow in original languageI sampled Persil ProClean Deep Clean Pods for free in exchange for reviewing the product for Sampler. Persil ProClean pods were easy to use and the directions were simple to follow.

My clothes came out very clean and fresh after using the Persil pods to do my laundry. The fact that I didn’t break out in a rash after using the product shows that Persil is good to use on clothes for those with sensitive skin issues like myself.

While I definitely would use Persil again or recommend it to others, my current laundry detergent pods get my clothes clean just as well as Persil. Persil wasn’t any better or cleaner than the laundry cleaner I use.

Since I’ve used it for years, I’ll probably stay loyal to my current detergent brand. If Persil added anything to make it better than my brand later, I might reconsider. In a pinch, if I couldn’t find my brand, I would buy Persil and use it.

It is as good as my brand. It just isn’t any better, which is why I can’t see switching laundry brands at this time. Persil also seems to be priced a little bit higher than my current brand as well. Overall, I think Persil does a good job cleaning clothes and is good for those with sensitive skin.

I recommend it along with my favorite brand, which I will leave unnamed.

I typically use downy unstoppables booster beads with my laundry because I feel like the scent never lasts more than a few days on my clean laundry and Unstoppables allow that clean laundry scent to last 1-2 weeks.

Well, the same can be said for Persil ProClean Laundry Discs. I did a cold wash of colored clothing, without any other products. The clothes came out clean with no noticeable fiber fading and smelled great.

I waited about 14 days before I grabbed a shirt I washed with Persil Discs to see if it still smelled like it just came out of the laundry and it did!! Persil ProClean Discs are supposed to keep clothes smelling fresh for 100 days but I couldn’t wait that long! I now have a new favorite detergent and I won’t have to use Unstoppables or tons of fabric softener dryer sheets to have clean smelling clothes! I can buy a 2 pack/76 pods for $26.

99 on Amazon, which is more expensive than Tide Pods, but I don’t have to use additional products like I do with Tide Pods (Downy Unstoppables). Definitely recommend and will consider switching laundry detergent.

I’ve always struggled with getting the smells out of my teenage boys shirts, especially the armpits, but these Persil Discs worked amazingly well! I’m a die hard Tide fan and buyer! They have always been the only brand I’ve tried that could clean all the stains off our cloths and make them smell fresh! After trying these Persil Laundry Discs I’m hooked!! I couldn’t believe how well it worked ! Also how easy the little discs were to use! The pre-measured perfectly filled discs make it so easy to do a load of laundry even for my boys! They’ve always struggled with putting too much or too little detergent in! With these they just need to throw the little disc in the wash and it’s set! And doesn’t need anything added to the load because the detergent takes ALL the smells out! Yes even the ones from teenage boys! I was pleasantly surprised by this laundry detergent! I had been using a different brand that we liked but it was so expensive. I decided to try this. For less than $6 for the amount you get, it was a deal worth trying.

I had tried Sun in the past in smaller bottles from Family Dollar and wasn’t impressed. I saw this gigantic tub of it on here and decided to give it another shot. Glad I did because this stuff is way better than what I tried before! I decided to use only the smallest amount for a test wash.

I thought it would not come out good or I’d need to re-wash with a larger amount. It came out great! It was surprisingly thick consistency and did a good job my husband’s funky work clothes, and my teenage sons clothes that were ravaged by his hormonal funk that I thought I’d need to burn lol! I hope they keep it in stock! Thanks Walmart, this one’s a winner!!!.

Yes this is a cheaper product but have to say my clothes smell fresh and clean when I get them out to wear after being put away! To save money I buy this and use 1/2 cup of Borax (which is $5 a box) and they last a long time.

This combo does what the higher priced laundry detergents do at less the cost. So if you are looking for ways to save money try this. You will be amazed like I was and will not be disappointed PLUS the Borax I use for other things like cleaning and flea control spray diluted with water and I put it in a spray bottle.

The sun products are wonderful! It is important to use products that maintain a color and integrity of the fabric of your clothes. I can be found everywhere so it is easily accessible as a consumer. I like the smell and the value for money.

In comparison to other products and rates very highly. The smell is fresh and last on your clothes for a very long time. There is no residue left on the clothes and there’s also no residue left in the washing machine.

My friend and I compare products and we all agree that sun is one of the best ones to use. A lot goes a long way to keeping a full load clean my husband‘s job is very dirty and this works well on his clothes.

I recently had the opportunity to try Gain Laundry Detergent and was quite pleased with the product. I decided to try it out as I have tried their sister product Tide, with great results. Gain has several options for scent (which is nice) and it does clean clothes quite well.

They do not have a ’’Scent free’’ product in the line yet, but if I know Proctor Gamble – they will! The clothes come out of the washer smelling very fresh and looking very clean. It ranks right up there with Tide in cleaning power.

makes you wonder why PG decided to come out with another product but – they probably figured for those of us that don’t like Tide, this would probably sell them and get that market share too! Gain comes in liquid and powder (I have only seen liquid here in Canada so far).

It has several scents in regular and only one scent in the Alternative Bleach formula. And now I seen Bounce (another PG product) comes in a ’’Gain scent’’ formula of dryer sheet to keep that scent going right thru to the end! I tested Gain by trying on blood (a slip in the kitchen in which I used my apron as a bandage!), dirt from gardening (ground into the knees as I hate kneepads!), and mud from my two dogs (jumping into the car after playing at the off leash park in the river then finding any mudhole they could find to roll in!).

I pre-treated by pouring a bit of liquid Gain on the blood and leaving it for about 30 minutes but other than that, just washed with the Gain and WALAH!! no more stains!!.

This is a great laundry detergent! Many in my family have very sensitive skin so we can’t use detergents like TIDE that would cause a break out, rash, & allergic reaction. We can’t even use some that say for sensitive skin or allergen free such as “All Free & Clear” that the dermatologist suggested trying.

Those other brands still causes itches & rashes even with extra wash cycles & extra rinses. ERA never bothers our skin & gets our clothing clean! I have used it for years on all of our laundry, including baby clothes.

It easily takes out stains & cleans. If you have a hard stain just put a little on the stain & let it soak or sit for a while & it comes out. However, don’t let it sit on the clothing overnight because that spot where you put it will be stain free & lighter than the rest of it.

Other than that this laundry detergent is perfect! You don’t have to use a lot of it to get the clothes clean. Don’t know what I would do without it because of all the sensitive skin issues in the family.

This is the best laundry detergent I have found out there after trying many brands over the years.

This laundry detergent gets out grease without pretreating repeatedly. I never understood why no one liked it. Its cheap and works. I save one of my favorite polyester shirts with this laundry detergent, after cooking oil spilled down the front.

That was even after it had been washed and dried once already. I notice it does fad clothes faster but Ill trade that off for not going to extreme lengths to pretreat stains. I haven’t tried my husbands greasey clothes in it yet.

(He is an industrial mechanic) I would bet it works atleast as good as tide hygienic clean pods.

When you first see this product on Sam’s Club site you automatically think when I was a little old-fashioned brand. But you try it because the value is just really good. Then you bring it home and you realize why your mom and grandmas use this product.

It definitely take stains out is actually really good as a stain treater, if you put it on when something gets soiled before you wash it. and let it sit for a little while. The value by ounce/ price you’re just not going to get that in many places.

It is an overall extremely good value for not a lot of money.

This is the best cleaning product I have found and I have been using it since the 1960’s. In the early 2000’s my friend worked for a big commercial laundry company and they said Wisk, by far, was the best laundry detergent on the market.

I just read on the internet that someone bought the company where Wisk is made and has discontinued the product. It is the only product that I have found that gets out stains especially in the neck area on shirts and blouses.

I am so bummed that I will not longer be able to buy it. If I have any money at the end of each month, I plan to buy as much Wisk as I possibly can so I will have it for the next couple of years. Once it is gone I don’t know what to use.

Oxi clean is ok but it doesn’t compare with Wisk. Tide smells good but it is inferior to Wisk.

This is the second container of this product I have purchased from Wal-Mart, as well as the second time I have been asked to review it. I make a point of always using a large front-loading washer and my results are always better than I expected.

I neglected to mention in my first review that I used this fabulous detergent with NO added products, i. e. , bleach, any type of booster, or fabric softener. After a (too) long and hard winter, I washed my car’s custom fabric floor mats, both front and rear.

I was shocked to find that they looked absolutely brand new. I commented that, if I compared them side by side with brand new ones, I couldn’t tell the difference. The only thing I will caution about Wisk is that you’ll soon run out of things to make new looking again! I have 2 expensive long-sleeve dress sweaters, and washed one of them.

They are identical in every way, but the newly washed one was several shades whiter (they are both light beige) than the other. I am usually critical of those items which fall below my expectations, but not here.

I can only imagine what other companies are doing after scrambling to meet this challenge. Well done, Wisk! Ten stars!.

As many have, I read the Consumer Report review, since I subscribe to it and rely heavily on their reports. My local Wal-Mart did not have this particular version, so I ordered it Online from Wal-Mart.

I received it quickly – a day sooner than the tracking had predicted – so I gathered some items to be washed. I always go to a local Laundromat since it has large washers and I have always preferred the front-loading machines.

To say that I was impressed would be the understatement of the year. I said to myself that this product should be named a “Restorative” detergent since it has that apparent effect on fabrics. The next day, I got together every possible article of clothing and washable item in my home and hustled back to the Laundromat.

Virtually everything I had washed was nearly 100% of having a brand new appearance. I have always believed that word of mouth advertising is very powerful. That is especially true since the growing presence of social networking web sites.

Aside from that, I have been “talking up” the spectacular virtues of Wisk Clean & Free to everyone I know. I am not one to participate in opinion surveys, but in this case, I can easily recommend this superlative product without hesitation.

Terrible scent–to me. too strong. The scent does not leave the clothes even when you air them out. I used another GV that had a light lavender scent. This was not lavender; if it is, it is masked by other.

It made me sneeze. I am amazed that anyone loves it as is written. Perhaps those who like Gain or other very strongly scented. I got it because the other was out and this one mentioned lavender. If you want something on the light side, this is NOT the one you want.

The other GV is $9. 97 now (is light scent, wonderful) and available via shipping. Just got some delivered. A lot like 7th generation, much cheaper; similar to Trader Joe’s/ was about same price. I just don’t live near a TJs.

Happy with the replacement. I just wish it were in the store. It was and not shipping only. Thank you.

I have always used Tide but lately my clothes were feeling scratchy even with fabric softener. I saw this great value laundry detergent and decided to give it a try just because I loved the scent. Oh my gosh!!! My clothes are so soft and fluffy and they are coming out of the dryer so much softer and less wrinkles.

I have been texting all my friends about trying it. LOL.
