20 Best Detangler Spray For Kids (2023 Updated)

I know this is for kids, but why should they get all the great smell? Plus the adult detanglers are more expensive, smaller, don’t smell as good and do the job just as good or not as well! I have always used kids detanglers and my hair thrives just fine with it.

I once used an “adult” fancy one and it took twice as long to brush my hair. Nope, I’m a kid at heart and with good reason with this product. Do yourself a big favor and buy at Amazon where they sell a two pack of full size for 8 dollars.

That’s where I get mine and it arrived fast. Since I have two bottles one stays in my bathroom and the other has a permanent home in my beach bag along with my the combo of the two protects my hair from the chlorine of the pool and the saltwater of the beach.

Seriously I spend as much time as I can in any body of water. So I’m pretty good at hair damaging effects due to water. Speaking off, if you don’t have the right brush, it won’t be too helpful though.

so I use kareco detangle hair brush. I couldn’t find one to tag so I’m going to have to just upload the product so ppl can find it! Oh I almost forgot, the ends of my hair are chemically treated as I’m growing out my blonde hair.

I use to get it straightened at the Salon every 6 months too. So my hair has been through a lot. This stuff is gentle enough on it.

My daughter absolutely loved this “Dory” detangler. It was always her go to detangler even though we had like four different ones. This wasn’t my favorite because I felt like it left the hair a little stiff once it re-dried but it did it’s kob.

I did enjoy the fragrance. Overall I would probably re purchase.

I love this product. I use it on my daughter cause her hair is so tangly and so difficult to brush. Except for when I use this detangler. I just spray it on and the brush slides right through. Leaves her hair soft and tangle free.

Smells good too. Highly recommend.

I’ve heard of Fairy Tale products and love their mission! I like the natural ingredients and the smell is just divine! My girls hair is white blonde but she just loves swimming in chlorine pools. This shampoo and conditioner set helps get the gunk out of her hair so it doesn’t turn green! The conditioner leaves her hair silky soft and the brush helps get all the tangles out.

Skeptical at first, but WOW! Since starting swim this year, my daughters hair has been atrocious. The first time she used the Sun and Swim shampoo and conditioner, her hair was softer and silkier than ever.

(No joke!) I asked how much detangled she used, and she said she didn’t have to use any. (Detangler is a must even on non-pool days. ) I was shocked. We use the detangled mostly for days we don’t wash hair, and it works great too!.

I’ve been using the Suave apple scent detangler for my girls’ for a long time, and have been happy. None of the other scents ever appealed to me, until I saw this one – I knew it was a mild, clean, nice smell because of the shampoo version – and I got it just for the sake of variety.

Luckily, I used it on my own hair first late one night, otherwise it would have made for a rather frustrating experience in the usual morning rush! It is an entirely different consistency than any of the other Suave detanglers – at first I thought the bottle was broken, but then I realized that the stuff inside just wasn’t liquid, it was more like lotion.

And therefore, putting it in a spray bottle fashioned for liquid doesn’t work. I have to hold the bottle at a certain angle (so the glob won’t just drip down the side) and I’ve developed a routine of doing ten spritzes at a time (probably equaling to a very decent amount were it mist-spraying liquid, but only a pile the size of a dime/nickel or so in solid form), and then working it into a portion of my hair – more time consuming (and sometimes makes for sore fingers after enough working the bottle).

A pump bottle would make more sense – or adding water to the recipe. All that said, the stuff is great. I have thick, frizzy hair, and sometimes I don’t even have the time to attack it if I’m too far from a shower – I just sweep it back into a pony and finished.

This detangler tamed my hair, and I had soft, silky, manageable hair for the first time in quite awhile. The hair does not seem to appear oily after using the spray. My oldest daughter (almost 10) loves it, as well.

For the younger kids, I just stick to the liquid apple scent, as they don’t need something so heavy-duty and it’s not worth the time and patience (as opposed to just spraying it all on and brushing and then just rush out the door 🙂 – though when my toddler has serious bedhead, this is the way to go!.

The only change that was made to this product was the bottle so I do not understand the people who are unnecessarily hating on this product just because the brand decided it needed a new look (talking about the people who are mad over the bottle design)… the smell is exactly the same and it detangles my hair well exactly how it used to.

I have been using this product since elementary and I am now in my second year of college. I love the fresh apple scent it smells as if you cut a crisp green apple and many have complimented how good my hair has smelled 🙂 Get this product if you want your hair to smell good, it is great for detangling but I honestly spray it on for the smell! This product is hard to find now-a-days so get it while you can!.

Fair warning for all parents~my review is accurate. Meaning, I’ve bought at least 4 of these and NONE of them spray. Meaning, the product must be in my opinion too thick to enable a spray. Nothing comes out, I’ve bought several.

It’s too thick and all of the bottles have the same result. Smells nice but does not have the function to spray. It just clumps up and nothing comes out. I had to physically open the bottle and pour some in my hand in order to simply use.

I’ve used this spray for about 4 years on my daughter. She has thin tight curly hair. For many years I loved this spray I loved how it controlled frizz and left my daughters hair curly and bouncy. Up until recently I started noticing she would complain of an itchy scalp and I noticed it leaving like a white powder residue on my daughters head.

I checked her entire head and there was the same powdery residue all over the roots of her hair. So now to experiment with something new.

This stuff is amazing!!! I suffer from extremely bad depression and it’s gotten worse since COVID. So with the depression and being a mom of 4, my hair is the last thing I’m worried about. I get what I call depression hair sometimes, matted hair in the back of my head from just keeping my hair in a bun for a week and not brushing it.

(I know gross but that’s my depression). Yesterday I tried to get some of the matted hair apart and just gave up. It hurt way to much and nothing was working. I kept looking up what to buy to help untangle matted hair, but everything had not so good reviews.

I was getting fed up but then remembered using these sprays when I was little. So I told my husband to go buy it. When I tell you this works, it WORKS!!!! It made getting al the knots out SO easy. I got through all my “depression hair” SO fast.

I can’t believe I haven’t bought this for my own kids. How did this spray slip my mind. And the price is amazing!!!.

I have been using this product since childhood, before I even entered kindergarten and now I’m in my early 40’s. It’s an absolute must have for me. I have long fine hair that goes all the way down past the small of my back and tangles very easily.

A bee could fly by and I’d have a knot nest in my hair. I’ve tried other products, from the same price range to outrageously priced claiming to have the best slip but I always come back to Johnson’s.

For all of you that are complaining and giving bad reviews about the packaging aka the bottle, you really shouldn’t be leaving reviews if you haven’t figured out by now how to twist the top and if you still don’t like the bottle, pour it into a bottle of your choice.

That does not make it a bad product and it sure doesn’t make it deserve low stars. As for the scent, it’s a light soft scent. Maybe others are expecting more of a perfuming scent I don’t know but I love that it’s a soft scent because I suffer from debilitating migraines and scent is one of my triggers.

I love how I can spray this on my hair, wet or dry, and it gets the tangles right out without hassle and without losing my hair in the process. It’s been a tried and true product for me my WHOLE LIFE! I even carry a bottle in my purse… I’m a loyal customer of Johnson Detangler and I’m not behind some promotion either! I know what I like, I know what works, I have nothing to gain.

I’m obsessed with this detangling spray for my son! It smells great, it’s easy to use, and it works well! My son has longer, shaggy hair just like his father and this stuff is great for preventing tangles and helping his hair stay smooth, silky, and shiny.

AND THE SMELL! I love how “clean” it makes my son’s hair smell. So good. I will say the plastic top on the bottle can break easily which essentially renders the whole entire bottle unusable (unless you’ve got another spray bottle on hand to pour it in) and that can be annoying if you accidentally drop it – but it’s not Johnson’s fault that I’m clumsy! Whether your child has short or long hair, this stuff is great.

I’d definitely highly recommend it for any child that has long hair!.

This product Is Absolutely Phenomenal! Originally, I Bought This For My Kids, But Ran Out Of My Own One Day And Gave It A Try. It Works For Grown Ups Too! I Have Very Thick Hair Down To My Bum And It Only Takes Two Sprays To Completely Brush Through My Hair.

My Daughter Uses It As Well And She Has The Toddler Baby Fine Hair That Is Curly. She Never Complains Or Whines That Brushing Is Uncomfortable. Seriously, This Is Working For Both Of Us And Is Worth Every Penny.

My three daughters and I have been using this taming spray for years and always loved it. Now, every single one of us is upset about the different potent, powdery scent. Yuck. It use to have such a beautiful smell! Please bring that back.

The new smell gets to our noses and we prefer not to smell like powder. Did you change other ingredients? It seems like it doesn’t detangle as well as it use to either. What a bummer.

Just a bit of customer feedback, I much preferred the fruity fragrance you used to use in this product. It was very kid friendly. The new powdery, floral sent not only seems too mature of a sent for my kids, but it smells way too harsh; it actually makes me feel sick.

Would love to have the fruit smell back.

I bought this as a detangler for my 6 year old daughters hair. She has curly/wavy hair and it is always getting knots /dreads. This is the best product. Spray it liberally, leave for a minute or two.

A gentle brush with her tangle teaser brush and knots are gone. It’s fabulous. I’ve tried three other brands, not worth the hype. This is the real deal.

The smell is heavenly and this really makes brushing out tangles a much more pleasant process!! My kiddo has long, fine, thick semi curly hair. After big days in the wind sometimes we end up with pretty serious knots.

This helps brush them out without discomfort. If used after the shower on wet hair it’s even easier. I also used some for my mom hair to smooth back fly always and work through some tangles after falling asleep without putting my hair up and it worked like a dream.

Great product and definitely worth the price tag.

I have used a ton of different products to fight tangles in my frizzy, wavy, constantly tangly hair, as well as both my daughters’ hair. This stuff works. It smells nice, it feels soft when dry, and it keeps frizz at bay, without any greasy residue.

I do find that I have to use quite a lot of product, which is unfortunate for the size/price. But my 7yo now enjoys brushing her hair because she loves this stuff so much. It’s worth it.

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter because her hair tends to be a crazy mess in the morning. I hate to say that I wasn’t a big fan. It smells nice and did a good job getting the tangles out but I didn’t like the way it left my daughters hair looking kind of greasy.

I tried it multiple time on wet and dry hair but just could not get over the greasy look.

Recently got this leave in conditioner and detangler for my daughters hair and so far we are loving it. My daughter has fine hair that often tangles easily and it’s always a struggler to brush it. This product smells amazing and it’s reassuring knowing they use “worry-free clean stuff”.

Makes combing out my girls’ hair much easier and they love the scent. My only complaint is the shape of the bottle makes it hard to hold onto and pump the sprayer with one hand.

I purchased so many other brands of detanglers and this was by far the best one! It works well, smells nice, and the nozzle spray is almost like a mist so it distributes product evently. I find other detanglers while I’m sure the product itself works well, the nozzle spray just left a wet spot on my child’s hair, which with a young toddler with thin hair can be very noticeable.

Would definitely purchase again!.

Love the smell! So much. Summertime in a bottle. BUT- it made my LOs hair so greasy. & it wouldnt come out. I could still smell it in her hair even after 3 baths. It didnt really help with tangles either.

I had to use a lot. Then, like i said, her hair was greasy and very sticky. Returned. Back to using honest.

My son has long hair that tangles over night when he sleeps. I’ve used many different detangler products and this one is my favorite. It smells awesome and does its job wonderfully. No tangles with very little product.

Maybe 2-3 sprays and were good!.

This is the absolute best detangler I have ever used on my daughter’s hair. It instantly gets her knots out. My daughter usually cries when I try to brush her hair in the morning, but not anymore. We use it after her bath and in the morning before school as well.

It’s pure magic! My favorite thing about it is that it doesn’t leave her hair looking wet like some detanglers do on her dry hair in the morning. The mist is very light but powerful for getting those tangles out! I also love that the ingredients are safe, yet another difficult thing to find in other detanglers.

My daughters hair wraps around itself and inevitably ends up tangled after a day or two. Her ringlets are adorable, but also hard to manage. I’m not willing to compromise on ingredients for performance so I continue to use attitude detangler.

Once her hair dries, it’s adorable but I don’t feel like this helps the detangling process, per se. I have to use a LOT combined with a wet brush and a lot of patience.

We love this detangler spray! Best natural one we’ve used, the only thing I would like more is if it was more moisturizing as well as detangler. But that’s only because my daughter has dry & curly hair.

We just use two different products for now, and that works for us! This is one product I never want to run out of!.

I just ordered the apple scent for my granddaughter. I let her try my holiday scents and she loved them. I must say she has thick tight curly hair and most of the time its unmanageable. When we used the wen product on it it was so eady to comb it out and no fly away hair looking like it was teased.

I thought I would order the holiday scented to try it out. I’m 52 and have been undergoing chemo for the last year for stomach cancer. My hair hasn’t come out but it has thinned out and is very dry and brittle.

You could even feel the difference when touching my hair from the dried spots on the weeks I have chemo. Using the wen you cannot feel the dryness. My hair is soft, doesnt look stringy and easily manageable.

Now if he could come up with something that will stop the chemo from destroying my fingernails. They are dry, very soft and even though they grow, they grow with spots and cracks down into the quick.

Just love wen. This is my second week using it and I look forward to converting the whole family! Thank for such a wonderful product.

I was skeptical. When I watch the demo I thought yeah sure. I have tried every detangler on the market known to man. Nothing works well. I was truly amazed when I tried Wen’s Watermelon. My hair is thick, curly wavy and as I’ve gotten older and getting lots of gray it has become even more course.

It is so difficult to keep out the knots and mats from the back of my head. I try to brush it at least three times a day but it’s still knots up. When I spray the watermelon on my hair, it is so much easier and doesn’t take as long to be able to come through it freely.

I will never be without this product. Obviously it contains something that all those other thousands of detanglers on the market do not have.

My whole family is huge fans of the Apple cleansing conditioner and we stock up on the gallons when they’re available!. When I saw this treatment spray I wanted to try it immediately. My bi-racial son has the most beautiful strawberry blond curls but since he’s only a year old he’s not too careful with them! He likes to rub his head back and forth and creates a frizzy mess of those pretty curls! This product saves the day.

Every morning I spray his hair liberally with this product, almost saturating his hair, and then while firmly holding a section I gently work out any knots that have collected at the ends of his hair with a fine tooth comb against my finger.

I then gently work my fingers through his hair allowing the curls to regain their shape. I then finish his hair with natural oils for extra moisturization. I would LOVE for Chaz to come out with a glossing serum in the apple kids fragrance so I could stick with one fragrance.

The apple is very clean, not the synthetic sour green apple candy scent I feared it might be. It’s actually my favorite of the whole line and I’ve pretty much tried them all. Don’t be put off by the price point either.

This lasts for a really long time. As I said we use it daily and it’s very long lasting. It’s also a great way to refresh hair between shampoos. We try not to cleanse his hair more than twice a month unless it’s absolutely necessary and this product gives his hair that freshly washed smell without the damage of overwashing.

This spray is absolutely fantastic. It smells amazing and really works. I used it on my daughters hair which is thick, curly and long. It normally gets very tangled. This amazing spray took all the drama out of doing her hair in the morning and after hair washes.

We put 8-10 squirts of spray on, leave it to work for a few mins then the brush / comb goes straight through. This spray really does live up to its claims – no tangles, no tears only smiles. I also tried it on my long, fine, highlighted hair and it worked great.

I only needed about 4-5 sprays on mine. The packaging is great, the spray nozzle never got blocked and the bottle is a bit thinner than other makes so easy to hold whilst applying. It’s a nice pretty colourful bottle design which my daughter loves having on her dressing table.

Highly recommend this spray.

I’ve tried this on my daughter’s hair, wet and dry and she says it does make a difference. Her hair is waist length and fine, so it does tend to tangle, especially when wet. I’ve tried it on my hair, too.

My hair is just past my shoulder blades and wavy, so it gets messy. I used my tangle teaser brush and combed from the ends and moved up in sections, as I always do, but didn’t make much difference to me.

I didn’t like the fragrance. To me it smells like passion fruit rather than citrus. Still, daughter likes it, so I’ll give it 4 out of 5.

I’ve stolen this off my kid to see if it works better than other anti frizz sprays, and it does! Applied before blow drying, dries faster without getting knotty and it’s definitely less frizzy afterwards.

Helps to get the “mermaid effect” when dying naturally better than other sprays. Smells nice too. Should probably give it back to my kid.

I’ve tried everything for my daughter’s curly hair. She is also very sensitive to most products, so finding something has been difficult. I love that this detangles her hair, smells nice, and doesn’t seem to bother her skin.

My only complaint is that it seems to be more sticky than other brands. With her curls, I have to squeeze the product into her hair or else it rolls right off, so my hands get right in it. Other than that, we love it and combing her hair is no longer a nightmare for either of us.

The price is a little steep, but will purchase again as it’s the only detangler that has worked for her hair.

Their product works for my son’s and husband’s short hair. Moisturizes and enables them to give their hair a little shape so it lays well during the day. I would never use this on my daughters long, fine hair.

It leaves too much residue. I prefer honest’s orange vanilla detangler for her hair (and mine). It leaves is soft and more flowy and works even better for tangles.

I am impressed with how this worked! My daughter has fine curly hair that often gets tangled and matted up since she is a rough sleeper. The detangler worked well to help brush out the tangles and leave her curls nice and moisturized and bouncy.

I do wish there were other scents because I’m not the most fond of the coconut scent but these work well nonetheless.

I got this in a set with no more tears shampoo for my little one. She has very long, thin but curly hair. It tangles easily so I thought this would help. It smells good, helps a little but overall, when I spray it, more gets on me than her hair.

It does smell really good though. It’s not worth the price.

This product is amazing I have used it on my hair for multiple years and I still like it. I have found it helpful because it tames very thick hair to make it straight and Silky at the same time when it gets half empty you can add more water in it works the same so you get more than you are paying for.

I highly recommend this product to someone with frizzy or thick hair and cannot get rid of it, it will make it straight and you will never have problems as long as you use it I hope this review helped you.

I can’t believe how great it works. My daughters hair is super fine and she has tangles all the time. I can’t believe I went almost 2 years without using a detangler. Only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because of the smell.

It’s not bad, but not great. I think it’ll just take some time to get used to it. But otherwise amazing product.

The best for little girls hair that gets tangled. Spray it on and boom! You can instantly brush through the hair with a wet brush with ease. I use it on my own hair also! The little bottle lasts an ultra long time too!.

I’ve exhausted many clean detangler options for my 4 y.o. curly haired daughter. This is the only one that she not only love the smell of, but actually performs! I cannot recommend this enough!

For the price this isn’t bad. We got I used at the dollar store, so you can’t beat that if it works. My daughter has super straight and long hair. It is also thick and a she sometimes wakes up with small knots that are harder to brush out.

That’s where products like this are needed. This isn’t super high quality so it takes a little more than others to do the job and losen the knots. But if you don’t get super tangles this is worth the dollar.

Smell wise it is okay. I am not a watermelon smell person so this doesn’t do it for me scent wise.

So I’m giving this 4/5 because I honestly have not used it since I was a child so I can’t speak recently. However, I remember this made baths and showers so much better, the scent was lovely and very childlike (I believe it was pear or apple scented back then).

Completely 100% got rid of tangles and made post bathing brushing so much easier. And finally, when it says no tears it means it! The shampoo and tangle tamer NEVER irritated my eyes or my skin! I loved this product but haven’t seen it in stores lately so I didn’t know they still made it but I think I will definitely run out and grab a bottle for my nostalgic self!.

I remember when this spray came out ! Now it’s very hard to find around here. When your kiddo has a rats nest of hair , this spray really detangles and smells so good ! I miss this spray ! My kids loved the bottle, as it looks like a fish kind of design.

This product is a hair saver, for someone who’s always had smooth silky hair and recently started getting tangled this really helps! It keeps your hair tangle free which in return stops excess hair fall.

So full disclosure, we love everything JoJo Siwa in this house. She’s the teen queen of happiness, and who doesn’t need a little more happiness? I was pretty excited when I saw that she had partnered with Suave, because we already use quite a few Suave products for the kids.

What can I say? Suave works, it smells nice and it’s a reasonable price. Like other Suave favorites, the JoJo Siwa Nickelodeon Smooth Detangler Spray does exactly what it says it will — it makes it easier to remove tangles and leaves hair nice and smooth.

We use it after bathing and it helps make it easier to comb out the wet hair. It also smells really nice and has a strawberry scent (I think it’s labeled as being berry, which I thought meant like a mixed berry scent, but it’s definitely just strawberry).

The bottle is a generous size and the pump spray top makes it easy to distribute evenly through the hair. I usually just spritz my daughter’s entire head after the bath to keep hair nice and silky and tangle-free until the next time she bathes.

Overall, they took a great product and made it even better by adding JoJo Siwa to the label.

Hope this is okay My 9 year old daughter was beyond excited when I handed her this new Suave JoJo Siwa Nickelodeon Smooth Detangler Spray! Obviously, she’s been a huge fan of JoJo’s for several years, so she loves anything with her face on it! When I sprayed it into her damp hair she was loving the fun “Bowberry Scent!” I let her brush her own hair and she had no issues getting the brush through her hair (normally brushes get caught in there because of our hard water and her intense tangles)! We were both (literally) singing and dancing after this huge victory for her.

When her hair dried it looked full and healthy! In our home, the JoJo Siwa Nickelodeon Smooth Detangler Spray is a huge win!.

This is a normal sized bottle of detailer for hair. Of course all little girls want anything with JoJo’s name on it. I’m using the bow bow berry scent. Not a bad scent. It just smells of sweet berries.

I would say even teens and adults would like it. It does work to help tangles be brushed out easier. I’ve used it on both my girls hair. One has long thick straight hair, the other short thin curly hair.

Works on both. The only issue I have is the sprayer. Most pumps spray a mist and it makes it easier to coat the hair. This nozzle sprays a stream. That makes it a little more time consuming, as well as difficult to coat each strand of hair evenly.
