20 Best Detangler For Long Hair (2023 Updated)

I love this stuff! I moved to Montreal and my hair has been a DISASTER due to the humidity – think Monica on the island holiday in Friends, this was me. I tried everything you can imagine but it made my hair worse.

Olaplex, Kerasaste, Jack Black, Amika, Living Proof, Pattern, Briogeo. everything. I’ve used these brands in the past and had success. I have a lot of very fine hair that is straight on top but is very curly underneath.

Some of the masks worked but it wasn’t until I bought the entire Drunk Elephant range that my hair became normal and now it looks gorgeous. Only took me 11 months of bad hair. but finally it is happy!.

I got this bc when I leave my hair up on skip days, after I take it down it’s suuuuper tangly despite not moving for hours. Not matted or anything, but frustratingly enough to make me get this. I sprayed some on my hair and a few pumps on my brush and in ONE SWIPE it took tangles out.

Some of them needed like two brushes, but I didn’t have to fight my hair at all. I have extremely thick hair to the point of overheating and it makes combing it out a super quick and easy process. It seems to tame a bit of frizz as well.

Idk how it does what it does, but it do be doing it. SN: the coconut smell. ? I’m a coconut fanatic but Pacificas coconut scented products don’t smell right to me. Like it wants to smell like coconut but it just misses the target.

Do with that info what you will, it still works.

This is a must-have for after the shower; whether you conditioned, deep conditioned or just did a water wash (where you don’t actually shampoo and/or condition your hair and instead just rinse it with water), this product is crucial to help de-frizz and shape the curls.

As mentioned in other reviews, a little goes a long way, but ESPECIALLY if you’re following up with a silk cream, mouse or other finishing product. I must say…. I’m not the only one that noticed that strange wet dog smell that can come from the product 😐 especially noticeable if you apply on dry hands to dry hair, but is barely noticeable when applying wet.

It’s the strangest most offputting thing and would love if that base note was replaced!.

As others mentioned, it smells bad like dog breath masked by perfume! It’s hard to describe and wish so much Sephora didn’t change their return policy so I could return it! Also the bottle is beautiful but it’s obvious you will not get the last drops of the product out easily due to the design.

As far as what it’s meant to do (I bought this with the hopes it could replace my conditioner), it barely does the job and does not detangle well. I also bought the other leave in conditioner in the dark blue tube and that one is also average but doesn’t smell bad, so between the two, that one is better but I would skip both and find a better product.

Darn it i had high hopes for this I’m on the fence most likely will be returned. I have fine long hair it gets weigh down easily and greasy. This dangled super well its in a aerosol spray can which i thought was weird but it was actually time saving.

Made my hair detangled instantly and soft. I blow dried it noticed my fly aways were gone and my hair was ultra shiny i have baylage ombre hair for reference. I curled my hair with hot tools curling iron and my hair wouldn’t curl right and 10 mins later all the curls fell out my hair is feel soft not greasy but really weigh down and heavy.

Its not sticky or greasy so thats a pro, but ill give it another go i guess and use less product. This would be nice for straightening the hair. or if you have courser thicker hair. Fine hair girls just beware it does weigh hair down.

I absolutely love this detangler. I recommended it to my sister as well with very tangled and easily knotted hair as well. I’m never using any other detangler. My stylist recommended the long sexy hair line of products for me.

I always hated showering because my hair is a disaster afterwards and painful to brush. Using this, it barely takes any and it works so well. And I love the smell of it. This is absolutely a must-have for me.

Why does nobody talk about this product?! I’ve never used a detangler that worked so quickly and efficiently! I sprayed it on my hands then applied it to my hair (to avoid overuse of the product which would ~probably~ lead to greasy feel/look).

I have long, fine, dry hair and this worked wonderfully. My hair felt moisturized and soft and I could actually brush my hair after using it. Plus it smells heavenly. Definitely a game changer in my book.

I purchased this after reading all the great reviews. I have tried it several times, and it just doesn’t absorb into the hair. It builds up and everything sticks to it. My horses tail gets so gross with shavings, dust, sand, you name it with this product in his tail.

It also doesn’t detangle very well. He does have course hair texture, and it just doesn’t condition well for him. My other horse it does better, but still leaves his tail feeling stringy and sticky. I recommend sticking with Cowboy Magic and Showsheen.

I bought this at a horse fair several years ago to try on my Friesian mare who has very dry itchy mane that she always rubs out. Put this stuff in her mane once a week and it’s feels so much healthier and is almost grown back out! I am also a professional dog groomer and this is the best product I’ve ever used for detangling.

My own golden retriever got into those little green burrs worse than anything i’d ever seen before-so bad I feared I may have to shave some spots and I don’t believe in shaving double coated dogs. I thought it would take hours to brush out, but I used this stuff and 30 minutes later she was burr free and I didn’t have to shave anything!.

This unique product does exactly what the manufacturer claims it will do. I have been using it for several years, after finding it at a horse expo, and speaking directly with the company’s owner. She is a trail blazer for equine grooming aids.

My kid and me live this product, because makes easier the hair time. We can use after taking a shower or with dry hair, it’s really easy to comb our hair with no ouchies. Totally recommend it. The price is right and good.

The only thing is that if after use this product you use gel to have real defined curls, you will have like tiny whites snow flakes I don’t why, maybe the chemicals reacts with the mix of gel.

I suffer badly with natural curly frizz and really dry hair and I’ve found this to be a game changer. You spray jn damp hair in sections and then comb through. This not only is good for reviving curls without the frizz but it also detailed your hair.

It moisturises hair leaving the hair tangle free, hydrated and smelling amazing. A must for frizzy hair.

Disappointing! It did nothing for my very thick curly hair, also it has a ridiculous spray which you have to pump continuously and my hand ended up very sore. I used nearly a third of the bottle and still couldn’t get a tangle teaser through my hair.

Maybe ok for a 6m old baby with hardly any hair! Would not buy again.

I ordered this for my boyfriend and he’s not very descriptive, but I can tell you that his whole life he has hated his Bob-Ross-ian curls and hated every product he tried on it and has kept his poor hair pulled back tight, in a bun, under a baseball cap, which has been a bit of a heartbreak to watch every day.

I ordered some noughty shampoo and conditioner for him, and surprise: he loved it! So I decided to give some of your curly styling products a try. and he didn’t hate them, but he didn’t ask me to order more when he ran out.

To be fair (to be faaiihhrr – letterkenny fans), he might not have fully understood how to use those ones. But then I got him the Hello Curls Primer and I think we found a winner! He’s still feeling it out but he’s used it for every important event, including job interviews.

Even more astounding: he went to a job interview with his hair NOT hidden away in a tight bun. Your product made him feel confident enough to rock a curly pony tail to a job interview! And then he got the job so he must have looked pretty good beyond my biased opinion.

This product is a life (well hair) saver! I was a bit worried as I’ve tried sprays and leave ins before and it’s just made my hair greasy and it need washing again the very next day – not this one! I’ve been applying it after each wash and it makes my hair super easy to brush, no tangles! It smells amazing and is easy to dry your hair with the hairdryer as normal, I’ve also used it and let my hair dry naturally and it still works.

My hair was in desperate need of tlc after not having a haircut for over a year but I didn’t want to rush to the hairdressers as it’s finally the length I want. This product has completely given my hair a refresh, my split ends are much better and I’ve had comments on the quality of my hair and how it looks like “new hair” I’ve literally been recommending it to everyone! So happy to finally find an animal/eco friendly product that does the job.

I don’t know about y’all, but it seems like every time I find a Holy Grail for a part of my regimen, it gets discontinued or reformulated. I am so annoyed with the hassle of the hunt, especially after relying on a particular product for so long.

After comparing ingredient lists to my OGHG, I chose to try this one. instant hit! I have fine 3A curls (Mirabel from Encanto and I are hair twins) and this is phenomenal for my hair type. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, it smells fresh, and moisturisers so well.

I am beyond thrilled with the quality for the price point.

This has such a strong artificial (cheap) perfume scent that I would NEVER put it on a child. Asthma is on the rise. All these scents are not good!!! Besides, once you “freshen” your house, scent your laundry, fabric softener, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, hand soap and all the hand and body and facial lotions, and have that all mixed together, you and your house are going to smell like a garbage dump.

Not just for kids. this detangler works perfectly on my 92 year old mother-in-law’s fine hair. She was prone to tangles, and it took us a while to find this product. But Walmart had it! And it works wonderfully! 5 stars indeed!.

I absolutely love how this makes my daughters hair smell and she loves it too. I use this often for her after a shower, while her hair is still damp and she’s combing it. It helps her hair detangle a bit but her hair isn’t too tangled after a shower, I have used it on her hair while it’s been dry also.

I feel like it’s a bit more effected with dry hair because that’s when her hair gets actually tangled, I have also tried using it on my hair. My hair is pretty damaged from dying my hair, so it gets tangled easily and it’s more fragile.

It doesn’t make a real significant difference in my hair when I use this product to detangle, as I am brushing my hair. I wouldn’t really recommend this product to adults and really damaged hair, as it won’t really make a difference but make your hair softer and smell good.

A really great product. I apply this on damp hair before going in with styling products and my Tangle Teezer brush. I have low density – low porosity 2C curly hair. This product is super hydrating yet lightweight which caters perfectly to my hair needs.

While it’s not the cheapest option out there, the bottle is a good investment that retains longevity. AG is a high quality brand – I also style with Remedy and Recoil, Both products I sing high praise for,.

This works really well in my six year old’s long curly hair. I have tried so many detanglers and this one works the best. I have been using it on her for over a year now. Her hair is constantly knotted and she hates getting her hair brushed, so this spray is a lifesaver in the mornings getting ready for school quickly and painlessly.

It does not have that funky fruity smell that all of the other kids detanglers have – which is a tremendous bonus! Also, the moisturizing has really helped keep her hair from drying out. I love this product and will always use this.

I’ve bought this product several times over the last couple years. I have ordered other like type items, but always return to this product. It’s cost is higher than others but it’s worth it. I have thick wavy hair and it makes it tangle free; I use while damp after washing and also spritz on before styling my usual morning brush routine.

I am retired and let my hair grow out to it’s “wisdom gray” color – Ha! I recently found my AG Conditioning Mist since we just moved, and am very I happy! It makes my hair silky soft and even adds some body to my thin hair.

My hair had been quite dry for some time and I was amazed at how just a few sprays of this made my hair behave and look much nicer. I will always have this product on hand – I highly recommend it! And the smell is nice – much appreciated since I have a lot of trouble with product smells.

My only suggestion is change the “on-off” spray button mechanism – it’s a bit awkward to work with.

I discovered AG hair through working at ulta at a training when they came and taught us about their hair care line. AG hair is a smaller company that’s ran by amazing human beings and most importantly have amazing products.

This detangling spray is my go to and one of the very few that I use. I’m super picky with detangling sprays because most leave my hair flat and heavy and weigh my hair down. This 100% does not do any of those, it’s lightweight and has great ingredients too.

I use it when my hair is wet after I wash it and spray it on my hair focusing on the ends, and then take a brush and comb through it to evenly distribute it evenly in my hair. This is a great way to use any products like this so that way you get every area of your hair.

My hair is so soft after using this and looks so healthy and shiny. It doesn’t weigh down my curls and also doesn’t make my hair look greasy and flat even when I straighten it. A must try! Their whole line is seriously amazing.

I switched to AG hair products from Pureology and I think that says enough!!.

I was surprised by how much I really liked this product as my experience has always been hit or miss with TIGI hair products. Most of them (ok, the majority of them) are just not compatible with my very long hair that is semi-course, wavy/kinky, oily scalp, very dry hair.

They are either too moisturizing and not good for my greasy scalp or too drying for my hair but good for the greasy scalp. This stuff is great from my hair – and it never even affects my scalp (as long as I only spritz from my ears down to the ends).

My hair is waist length so I use about 4-5 sprays on each side of my head and then comb/wet brush it through. My tangles are gone, my hair smells like a tropical paradise, and it’s super shiny and soft!! I wash my hair every 3-4 days and I don’t have to respray it in-between to keep the shine.

I am totally blown away that it doesn’t add any greasy feeling to my hair – it’s just incredibly soft and very, very shiny!! I will definitely be buying this product again!.

I have two long haired girls one with thick straight hair and one with thin curly hair. This doesn’t work for either hair type. You really have to saturate it to see any difference in brushing so it isn’t lasting us very long.

It also seems to leave a weird residue on the hair. It does smell nice and if you use enough product it does go through but for the price it really isn’t worth it.

This is the best product for fine hair. I also have thick hair and I have the hardest time combing out after washing. In comes this product and no more problems. I highly recommend; you will not regret spending the money!.

Thoroughly impressed! After years of hair coloring, o have very dry hair, which is made even drier because I simply cannot skip a day of shampooing my Asian hair. I’ve used many detanglers, but this one is by far the best.

A bit pricey, but a few sprays of this stuff and I can comb out my hair with a wet brush and let air dry. Where it’s normally frizzy on the ends, I have soft, touchable hair where I can even see my defined layers.

It’s the ultimate no-fuss product for me. I will definitely be repurchasing it. What’s even better is that it smells wonderful and is a “clean” product!.

I bought the 1. 6oz just to try it out since I was in need of a protectant spray. The smell isn’t strong and i like the nozzle it comes out evenly. I will be buying the 8. 4 oz when I run out of the small one.

I have a lot of hair and it’s thick so this is something I’d love to have on hand :).
