20 Best Detangler For Black Toddlers (2023 Updated)

I’m a male, so experience maybe different than the norm or usual. With only a handful of uses to date, I find this item to be handy and seamless to utilize and hope to use and purchase more for my children.

I have curly/mild coarse hair and primarily use this item when wearing my hair at a longer brush length and want curls on top or when I’m sporting “waves”. This item/valuable hair tool is great with stretching my curls on top for maximum curls and/or stretching and training my hair for that optimum wave patterns I always look for and seek.

Functionality of detangler is great and seamless. A must have for many different textures and uses. I look forward to purchasing more for my two little ones. Easy to clean and this specific version is light and easy on the head.

I have very fine hair that can get pulled out by the wrong brush. I first purchased this brand of brush in the US almost 5 years ago and immediately loved it. I know my husband uses it too because of how gentle it is with your hair! Select the WetBrush Pro, easier on tangles than the regular one.

It’s one of the few brushes my young niece is happy to have her hair brushed with.

I wish I had taken before and after pictures! I was sick with COVID for 2 1/2 weeks. In that time I had no energy to deal with my long curly mane so it stayed in a bun for the duration of my illness.

When it was time to wash and detangle the the nest that was now my hair I was dreading it. My hard detangler that I usually use in the shower was not doing the trick. It was taking forever and I was just ready to shave my head.

After some convincing from my sister, I reluctantly switched to the wet brush and was blown away by how quickly I was able to work through each section! I’m a believer! Get this brush for detangling and for curl definition.

I have purchased a couple of different styles of the “Wet Brush”, in a few different colors. The Speed Wet brush in this color – “Rose Skies” – is by far my favorite. The original style (with rubber holding the bristles) is not vented, and the bristles do not massage the scalp, in the same way.

The flex style has the same bristles, but I have very long, fine hair, which sometimes will tangle in the open “S” curves that are part of the Flex brush. The Speed is the best of everything – lightweight, vented, easy to clean, and my hair cannot get caught up in it.

Many of the colors are beautiful, but the “Rose Skies” has gorgeous colors, with swirls of white, to pink, to mauve, to red, overlaid with splashes of deep gold swirls which really make this brush rather stunning.

I have a few for myself, so I have back ups, and have bought several as gifts.

I actually ordered four to replace my Epic brush in gold. The gold brush has been through years of use and I absolutely have loved it. However everything needs replaced eventually. It was the lint that couldnt be removed off of the coated tips that I felt the need.

Its great for hair that has damage and tangles easily. I have thick hair that without this brush would be a nightmare to comb. So, I bought 4 more WET Brushes Epic in Black, simply because I have 2 teenaged sons that also love the Wet Brushes.

I have type 4 hair with a lot of shrinkage. I’d say I have medium density and coarseness. It’s about bra strap length. I detangle my hair dry with oil before washing. I love using this after I detangle my hair with my Denman Power Paddle Brush.

That particular Denman brush is the best detangling brush I’ve ever used, but it doesn’t remove all the shed hair which can lead to a lot of tangling and knots once water hits it. This brush removes the shed hair the other brush leaves behind.

Even though it says it’s not suitable for detangling, I could definitely detangle with this alone if I needed to. It’d just take longer because I’d have to be more careful. I also like using this combo after washing, too.

This brush reduces the snagging by smoothing everything into place and makes styling a lot easier. I don’t use this to blow dry because it’s not heat resistant, but using it beforehand makes the blow dry easier.

Even without heat styling, my hair looks shinier because all the strands are uniform. Everything just looks neater and stays detangled longer.

It works! I cannot believe it worked. My thick, fine, highlighted hair is always dry, frizzy, and a knotted mess after washing. I’ve tried many techniques, hair products, brushes, and combs, just to get out tangled knots.

With this brush, I started at the bottom of my below shoulder length, wet hair. I was expecting the brush to jerk and not go through the mess. Well, it smoothly did! So, I tried again, in the middle of my hair, brushing downward.

Again, smoothly moved the brush down to the end of my hair. Tried again this time, moving the brush toward the middle of my head where most of the tangling was noticeable. The brush glided through like butter on bread! This brush is what I’ve been needing for 20 years of highlighting my hair! I will recommend this to everyone.

Additionally, I love the teal color, too! I have bought many products that I have regretted spending a few extra dollars on, because the product didn’t work for me. NOT THIS ONE! You will not regret this purchase.

I have a fine hair but a lot of it which means it easily tangles up and it is a pain trying to get it back in order. This brush has literally been life changing. I never thought I would find a brush that works for me and prior to this one, I have gone through MANY others and they’ve all ended up in trash.

This Shine enhancer brush has been the only one I’ve been using for the last 7+ years and I believe I have 4 of them now. Not because they fall apart (I still have my original one!) but because I use one when my hair is clean, one with my dry shampoo, one for travel, one at my beach house.

The leave i’m conditioner smell nice and helps wit the detangling process. Sadly results are after a few hours her hair is back dry and needs more shine and moisture. honestly I was going to reorder this product simply because it made my daughter hair smell so good.

Unfortunately when I received the conditioner along with 2 other products from the website, they were leaking through the packing paper. I contacted customer service to try and eradicate my problem, but the response was “Unfortunately, products shift during transit.

This shampoo TRULY detangles my 11 month old daughter’s hair sooo well and without tugging or ripping her hair. The curls are gorgeous and nothing else I have used has worked this way!!!!! Nothing else has worked this way.

It feels so moisturized during that process and even after being rinsed. No stripped or coarse feeling after her rinse and her hair is low porosity like mine so it gets dry very easily. I love it. I then follow it with the Frobabies conditioner and Curl Poppin Souffle.

Its like it was made for her hair. I wasted so much time using other products that did nothing and I plan on using it with my next daughter very soon. But it also works on my 3c-4c hair which gets veryyyyy detangled and dry as well.

I thought this was going to be a leave in conditioner spray like pretty much every other one on the market. I was wrong. To start off, this isn’t a liquid. It’s literally like what comes out of your conditioner bottle, which is to say that for some thing that’s marketed and sold as a spray, it’s really thick.

Which leads me to my next point: it won’t spray out of the provided nozzle. It kind of half mists, but if you’re trying to apply it to you hair in a hurry/quickly, you better find something else because I spent five minutes trying to spray it on to just a quarter of my hair.

I bought this product because the normal brand I use wasn’t available at the store I was at at the time. However, upon this one attempted us, I’ll be pitching this in the trash and making an extra trip to get the leave in conditioner spray that I normally use.

This product is great for freshly permed hair that wont settle down with the frizzies. It softens your hair without having a very heavy oily feel to it. Its lightweight and you just spray it on your hair all over before you use your Hot curling iron.

It protects against frizzies and really I cant emphasize this more softens your hair. I am a Caucasian woman with long hair that is permed.

This product is as close as it gets to a miracle product! I have very dry ends, no matter what I do, and since I started using it things have improved noticeably. My hair is much smoother and soft to the touch.

What works best for me is to apply it on damp hair post-shampoo (lengths and ends only), and comb through my hair gently with my fingers, then letting it air dry. This detangler has the typical smell of Rahua hydration line, fruity and tropical without being overpowering.

While it does make detangling much easier, to me this is a conditioning product/treatment rather than a plain detangler.

(Best tip I’ve learned is not to brush wet hair) This product makes it so when I go to brush it, it’s already all untangled and the brush goes through so effortlessly!! Not only is this great for detangling but it’s a UV protector!! I spray this on my dry hair when I’m at the lake or the beach to protect it from the sun and my hair is always super soft afterwards.

My first knotty girl brush lasted about two years before the tips started breaking off the bristles. In my opinion, two years of daily use is pretty good! I loved this brush so much that when ordering my replacement I decided to get 3 extra as Christmas gifts for my sister, my niece, and a friend.

About a month after Christmas my sister and niece told me the bristles on their brushes were already breaking! A couple weeks later I noticed the bristles on my brush were breaking as well. Normally, I wouldn’t really care, except with out the tips, the bristles scratch your scalp making it painful to brush your hair.

None of us use heat or any hair products that would cause the bristles to break down so I’m not really sure why there breaking already. I’m so disappointed that these brushes didn’t even last 3 months.

This is my most favorite brush ever and I’m gonna get another one in case I lose my current one. No matter what the hairbrush promises such as anti-frizz, static-free, won’t rip your hair, safe for wet hair, etc.

They still damage my hair. My hair rips easily and gets frizzy from having wavy hair so I avoided hairbrushes and used a wide-tooth comb. Even the comb does rip my hair sometimes. Because of this, I have static in my hair but thanks to Head Kandy products, I was able to win the battle with it.

My aunt has this brush and I tried it. I was shocked that not even one hair ripped. Even it feels good on the scalp. So I ordered one for myself. I’m not going back, ever. I even don’t need my wide-tooth comb anymore.

With 3 girls in the house we have a lot of brushes, specifically a lot of brushes advertised for knotty hair. I bought the knotty girl brush after watching a live and it was the best thing I did!! It’s comfortable in your hand and gives a great mini head massage.

My daughter recently came to me with a big rat nest in her hair after a restless night’s sleep. I asked her to grab me her brush and I tried working at it. It was working, but slowly and with a lot of complaining (both her and I).

First, for a product that’s supposed to be earth friendly, mine came with an astounding amount of packaging. The tag and the loop of cardboard are visible in the photo. There’s also a crinkly plastic bag.

Quality is so-so. I like the solid handle. (Wood/bamboo would not be a good choice if it routinely got wet, however. ) Mine arrived missing one of the rounded parts on the ends of the bristles that are meant to prevent scratching.

These plastic bristles are thinner and more flexible than the ones on a very similar shaped hairbrush from Conair. I don’t think that’s an improvement, but others might like the slightly gentler result.

It does still get through my long hair.

This detangler works very well on my long loosely curled hair. It leaves my hair smelling wonderful and relatively easy to comb out after the shower. I do not recommend leaving it in, as it is quite thick, but love how my hair looks after it dries! My hair is midway down my back, and I have no split ends, this is a great product!.

I am never one to write reviews BUT more people need to know how good this brush is!! I needed a new brush because my old brush I used to use isn’t sold anymore anywhere. I saw this brush and decided to give it a try, and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed.

It had some pretty high expectations to live up to because I was obsessed with my old brush, because it was the only brush I found that would not hurt my head when I brushed my hair. I used this new brush for the first time on dry hair and I was absolutely shocked.

The brush wasn’t hurting my head AT ALL and it was getting all the knots out. I tried it the next day on wet hair and AGAIN I was SHOOK. I’ve noticed a difference in my hair as well. It is much softer and less frizzy.

I absolutely love this hair brush! It gets hair in it but does not pull! My granddaughter lived it too and she hates brushing her hair out because it is thick and always knots up. With this brush, she can brush right through the tangles! I bought the Pro and mini for both of us and one for my daughter in law too!! Highly recommended and they are both great for travel because of the protective cases that are included.

This is a great size and shape brush! It is like a narrow paddle brush. I have thick, medium-fine hair and it works on it. And I usually use big paddle brushes, but I might be switching to this. Also, my 9-year old daughter likes the size a lot too.

We actually bought it for her. She has a bird’s nest in her hair every morning and this works for her. She only likes gentle detangler brushes. It is like a smaller paddle brush. Doesn’t take up as much room, but does the job.

Works for blow-drying. The green and pink have a cool matte finish that keeps it from slipping. I wish they would have a mint or acqua color.

I originally bought this for my 2 young children who have fine long hair that tangles extremely easily. We have used another detangler for few years, and I will easily say Plant Therapy’s detangler surpasses it’s detangling qualities by leaps and bounds.

Plant Therapy detangler seriously delivers no tears when brusing. I also have used it on my curly hair that tends to get frizzy. I don’t ever get tangles, but this detangling spray has nearly eliminated the frizz in my hair.

I simply spray and don’t use any other product. My only caution is, when using this detangler, use it sparingly and make sure to shampoo more often. I typically conditioned my girls hair every day, and shampooed evey other day, but with this detangler it left their hair heavy and sticky after a few weeks.

With daily shampooing, their hair is silky soft and so healthy looking.

This is the first detangler I’ve purchased, ever, but I like it a lot! My daughter is 4 and has lovely silky hair with a touch of curl – and she is energetic enough that it’s hard to keep it neat! The directions say to “spray liberally” on hair, but I only do 3-5 sprays or I’d soak her hair.

It really does help the brush slide through much more easily! And it smells fantastic. I’ve primarily used it on dry hair. If you put too much in, the additional moisture can make your hair look slightly greasy perhaps, but when used appropriately it all dries out to a nice soft finish.

When you use a larger quantity, it can be used as a styling aid, to reduce flyaways! I think if you use it daily it leaves just a bit of a residual “feel” after a few days, which totally isn’t a problem if you wash your hair a couple times a week or more.

Overall, it’s a great product and the 2-bottle pack is a good value! No more tears at hair-brushing time!!.

I bought this because I was tired of trying to comb the knots out of my daughter’s hair, but I didn’t want to buy chemical-laden detangler. Plant Therapy to the rescue! We spray this on right after washing and towel drying her hair, and it works wonderfully.

The comb glides right through! No tangles or knots, and most of all, no crying. It has a wonderful orange scent to it as well. I have not noticed any residue from this product, either, which is nice.

I really wanted to like this product, especially it being a Latina-owned brand. But after using for almost a year and going through almost a whole bottle, I honestly cannot recommend. My hair is naturally pretty wavy (2b/2c) and I purchased this in a set hoping that I could try out the whole system.

Ended up just sticking with this as a detangler that I put on right out of the shower. The rest of the products in my routine (which I have been using for years) are also all-natural sulfate free products and I’ve never had any issues, until I started incorporating this in.

At first, I loved it. It worked as it should and it seemed to only enhance my regular hair routine. But in the last couple months, I’ve noticed my hair start to get oilier and oilier. At first, I thought it was just my natural oils building up each day, but then I started to notice what seems like a permanent change in my hair.

I mean, I knew this stuff had a sticky texture to it, but what I didn’t realize was that it was building up in my hair. Even on days where I didn’t put the product in my hair, I noticed that my hair was waxy, tangled easier, and felt weighed down to the point where my natural curl was diminishing, even right after showering! I usually clarify when my hair starts feeling weighed down, and normally that works, but even after washing my hair 3 times and clarifying twice today, this stuff WILL NOT COME OUT.

This is a nightmare. There seems to be a permanent waxy coat on my hair that makes it borderline unmanageable. I’m so close to just cutting it all off and regrowing it because of how desperate I am to get this stuff out of my hair.

My hair used to be light and manageable enough to run my fingers through. Now, I can’t touch my hair without getting waxy residue on my hands, even after washing and putting in no product. My curls and waves are barely there, weighed down by all the product.

Not to mention that this makes it almost impossible to fully dry my hair in a decent amount of time, and forget using a blow dryer – it only worsens the tangles and waxy texture. I don’t know what to do anymore 🙁 I’ll be trying a new clarifying shampoo to see if that improves my hair, but I’m honestly afraid that this product has permanently damaged my hair.

I really wanted to be supportive and like this product, especially since I’ve seen all the “influences” raving about it. But it just did not work for my naturally curly hair. It instantly dried my hair, the texture of it was just awful.

Difficult to explain, but the moment I sprayed it on I noticed a weird texture to my hair that I was not ok with. I thought once I followed up with the cream, my hair would feel better, but nope it only added to it.

I have healthy curls, never dyed hair, so none of those are factors on why this product did not work for my curls. The scent of the product is great, the curls after they air dried and settled were ok, but did not get that instant WOW effect like EVERYONE appears to be having.

I couldn’t get over how it instantly dried out my hair with that awful texture. I did try application over the course of a week, and my view still stands, it never got better, every application the texture felt the same.

This product is missing hydration to the formula, which is important for curly hair. If the formula is ever updated, I’ll give it another try. The packaging also needs improvements, I too received a broken spray bottle.

I’ll stick to my other curl specific line of products that I also purchase from target for now that fall within the same price point. But, by all means, try it out and see is it works for you!.

I have to say that I LOVE this product, but I don’t use it for what its original intention was. I find that as a curl refreshing spray it was way too heavy and left my hair with an unpleasant coating which I assume is due to the different oils in it.

The ingredients list is amazing, though, and reminiscent of a homemade mask I used to put on my hair before wash days. I made that transition and now spray my hair thoroughly the morning of wash day and let it sit for about an hour.

Rinsing it off with shampoo helps get rid of that greasiness, but my hair still absorbs all the nutrients and feels so healthy and soft afterwards. I’ve also noticed that it’s gotten easier to detangle since I started doing this.

All and all, I think this is a great product, but would emphasize that, at least for my hair, it didn’t quite work for it’s intended purpose.

(Received product on Sept 30) The Mane Character Vibes hair mask is great. I only used it in the bottom half of by hair for 5 mins, avoiding roots/scalp area since I have an oilier hair type. It smelled amazing, like a juicy watermelon scent.

It reminded me of a product very similar to something they use at the salon where I get my hair done, and I think this product is more cost effective than buying the one from my salon. I think it really did hydrate and smooth my hair, usually when I wake up my hair is frizzy even with a satin pillowcase, but not today.

My only suggestion is to use a little more than I did, I used a glob the size of how much moisturizer I put on my face. Seeing as my hair is long but not super long, I could probably do a little more next time.

I give it a 9/10, still seems a little expensive to me. But it would be a great splurge, and at 5 ounces, will last you a while! I used also used this in conjunction with the No Drama detangling spray.

As for the No Drama detangling spray, I think it worked well. I loved its floral rosy scent. To apply, I flipped my head over to avoid spraying my scalp and did maybe 5 sprays. It has a nice mist to it.

Then I sort of scrunched it in, flipped my head back up, and used a wide toothed comb I had (similar to the one Florence came out with) to brush it through. I had no major tangling problems, and brushing took less time than it normally does with my wet brush.

While being a detangler, this product also conditions and protects your hair. It reminds me of a hair elixir my local salon sells that does the same things, and the prices are about the same. I rate this 8/10, hard to tell if it helped with detangling since I usually use a brush, but I liked the scent and other benefits.

A good splurge product.

If I could give this 100 stars, I totally would. I have an oily, acne prone scalp. I have tried almost every leave in conditioner out there. I thought I would just have to sacrifice my scalp for good hair or sacrifice my hair for a healthy scalp.

Nothing gave me soft and shiny hair without without giving me painful acne, greasy hair, and weighing my hair down. This is somehow lightweight. It also makes my hair shiny, luxuriously soft, and doesn’t give me painful breakouts and my hair is never greasy.

Whatever stranger things technology is in this, I am totally here for. A few days after trying this, I almost cried. I have good hair. For once in my life, at 34 years old, I have good hair. Hair I’m proud of.

Hair I’m not afraid of people touching. Hair I can confidently go to the salon with and not feel shame when they are moving hair around my scalp, embarrassed by them potentially seeing the large inflamed acne I get from products I use to try to make my frizzy hair manageable.

Yes, I have tried different shampoos and conditioners too but the only stuff that helps my scalp, dries out my hair. This product saved my hair. I’m even crying writing this. Every single item I have tried by Florence by mills has been amazing.
