20 Best Detangler Brush For Dogs (2023 Updated)

i worked in a groomers shop and bought this bc i was looking for and testing different types of brushes for different coats/coat lengths. this brush will NOT detangle your dogs coat the way it should.

you may feel like your doing the right thing but i promise you, there is so much of the coat you’re not getting with this brush. do NOT buy this if you are wanting to properly brush your dog! i recommend buying a grooming rake and comb and you are wanting to get it done right!.

I have a Wet Brush for my own hair, and I don’t know what witchcraft makes it so fantastic, but it’s the only brush to touch my curls in over 30 years. Of course I had to trust the pet brush would be great too, and it is.

Comfortable on their skin like any other paddle brush, and as good at detangling as a slicker. Why does it work so well? No idea, but I’m sold!.

Super excited for such a cute brush from a company I use myself. This brush has already made its way to the landfill, it basically skimmed over my dogs coat. It may be nice for a long HAIRED pet, thinking full coat yorkie/Maltese etc.

But the bristles were super weak and useless for fur.

My dog is extremely touch sensitive but actually enjoys this brush. It glides through little tangles without trouble and the bristles are gentle and flexible. Haven’t tried to on wet fur yet.

10/10 recommend this! My dogs always manage to get under any seat cover I have and sit on the ground. Since this lays on the ground it’s perfect for my pups! Extra protection for the car is a bonus.

For years I just use an old brush to style my Yorkies hair. You see their hair tends to be more on the human side than animal. Strange right, but their hair makes them hypoallergenic which is a must for most yorkie owners.

Now in the last 3 years 2 new yorkies became members of our family. My babies are my life and i go out of my way to male sure they live happy healthy lifes. Ive gotten so familiar with their hair its been over 5 yrs since ive had to make an appointment with a groomer.

With that being said the last 2 pups ive brought into this home not only have different texture to their hair ive had to come up with an entirely new way of dealing with yheir hair needs. My olld ways just wasnt cutting it.

So first item to get was a new brush. I chose this brush because of the 2 sides, and just like humans no one dog is the same. With my female i can use both sides and she doesn’t mind at all, but my male he wants nothing to do with the soft side.

needless to say we found a new affordable permanent product with herts.

I use this for both dogs and cats and it’s one tough cookie! I have a couple of big dogs one having thick longer hair. The metal brush goes deep to the skin to really comb the loose hair out. My cats can’t get enough of being brushed with both sides.

I’ve had these type brushes from other companies but this one is built to last and is larger than the average brush you’d get at the store. I highly recommend it and wish I had bought this years ago!!.

We love this brush and cannot live without it. Our pup is a Hava-shu so her hair is curly and extremely easy to tangle so if we don’t brush her out regularly she will get tangled and matted so we try to brush her every day, which she is finally getting used to.

In the beginning it was difficult but now she will bring me her brush when she wants lovins. I love that it has two sides, we’ve even used the soft side on our kitty. Definitely worth purchasing again!.

I am very impressed with this dematter tool. My groomer was unavailable for 3 months and I knew if I couldn’t comb out the fur-matts, I’d be looking at shaved dogs in March. I bought this tool and gave it a try this evening… I was able to remove a lot of matts on my first try (4 dogs).

I tried with and without detangler spray, no noticeable difference, except the spray annoyed the dogs …and made them smell better during the process (which I liked). I am admittedly a lazy owner when it comes to grooming (which is why I rely on a groomer).

I’m grateful that I found this tool and that all the dogs tolerated the process. I wish I had known about this tool years ago. By the way. the dog pictured always knots up the hair on the top of her head and I don’t know how she does it… I’ve never caught her break-dancing head-spins… but I was able to get the terrible matts out within approximately 30 minutes.

I studied the reviews on Chewy before getting the Dematting Comb for my cat. The reviews were right. That is the best comb ever. My cat had four places her fur on top of her back had matted together right down to her tail.

When it came I set the comb on the floor and let her sniff it all over. I acted all excited like it was a treat and when she got on me I let her sniff it and then just barely went over the tops of the mats.

I did that a few times during the day making sure not to get under it and get snagged. By the end of the second day all the mats were gone and the third day she would go to where I had it setting wanting to be combed.

I can now use the side of the comb where the teeth are closer together. You will not be sorry if you buy this comb and do as I did.

I have a cat with long hair. It mats just awful, this time of the year. He is an outdoor feral cat, but comes inside to see us, I have had a terrible time getting the mats out, and he just hates it when I do.

This product helped so much. It doesn’t come with instructions, so you need to watch a video on how it works. It seems to cut into the mat and makes it come out so much easier than trying to do it with a comb or brush.

He seems to tolerate it and not meow or hiss at me while I do it. Highly recommend getting this product!.

The bristles are the best I’ve tried for my dog’s short thin-ish coat. Unlike wire or plastic bristles, I don’t feel like this scratches her skin. Her coat is nice and shiny afterwards and she really loves being brushed with this.

The size of the brush does fit very nicely in the palm and is aesthetically pleasing as well.

Wasn’t certain if this would work on all my dogs, but it definitely does and they all love it! I have 5 dogs with a mix of short single-coat and double-coat and it gets out debris and makes their coats more shiny for them all.

My double-coat bulldog mix likes it and it does de-shed him some what, but I still use the furminator to get his undercoat. I also have arthritis in my right hand and this fits perfect in my hand and doesn’t cause any cramping like with traditional handles.

Our dog has medium, straight hair that doesn’t require detangling, just getting detritus out and smoothing her coat. This does the job wonderfully. I love the sustainable bamboo handle, though the strap is too big to really be useful–I just hold onto the whole thing with my palm.

Apparently the bristles feel good because she loves being brushed. Now to figure out how to clean fur off the bristles!.

This is the perfect size for small dogs. It works fine but pulls a little more than the soft bristle brush I was using. It is better in that it doesn’t hold the water when brushing after bathtime.

I bought this brush for my Maltese Yorkie mix, she has super fine hair that gets snarled very easier but doesn’t brush out easily at all. I was getting ready to give her a hair cut to rid her of the worse of the mess but this brush helped me get most of them out without pulling her hair! Still have a few to work on but this brush has saved her beautiful hair and she gets to keep her long hair for a little longer.

I had to purchase the pet teezer from overseas as its not available here in Australia, so the added international postage obviously did add to the price considerably. But, having said that, Im so glad I purchased it.

I had been using a human tangle teezer on my 3 very long haired cats. When I started using the pet version, all 3 started demanding to be brushed. Its comfortable to hold which is important when you have 3 cats lining up to be brushed.

Its great. I would thoroughly recommend the Pet Tangle Teezer.

My husky has always hated being groomed and would get very anxious when I used deshedding brushes or undercoat combs. I recently purchased the Pet Teezer because I find the human version so revolutionary, I wondered if the same could be true for dogs.

And it is! The Pet Teezer is great – she still doesn’t love to be brushed, but I have noticed that she enjoys it on her belly! This brush is a lot gentler on her and I find it removed a lot more hair a lot faster than other tools, so I am not brushing for too long.

I’d definitely recommend it if you have a dog that sheds a lot, it really changed the game!.

I originally received my order in the mail and was disappointed to find that one of the brush boxes was very damaged so I contacted them about the issue and Tangle Teezer replied promptly saying that they would send a new brush over.

I was very pleased to here this response and also that they replied in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely buy from them again after seeing how they handled the situation and I would recommend the company due to their high quality brushes, great customer service and attention to detail.

On receiving my brushes the second time, I was pleasantly surprised to see Tangle Teezer sent over 2 new brushes, even though in my email I only said there was a problem with one of the brushes. I noticed that the second time round that they took care in wrapping the brushes in pretty tissue paper and placed them in a more sturdy, tight fitting package than the first time.

Again, I was impressed by how they put in effort to make up for their mistake. In terms of what they could have done better, I think they should always be packaging the brushes as they did with my second order (pink tangle teezer-printed tissue paper and with the sturdy rectangular box) opposed to my first order which came in a loose-fitting, squished box and the brushes were not protected by either bubble wrap or tissue paper.

I bought this for my cavapoo because he gets bored during grooming and I was hoping it would speed up the process. Whilst it makes his top coat lovely and fluffy it doesn’t tackle the underlying mats.

Back to the original brush sadly.

I’ve been using this brush for several years on my large poodle’s ears and body. It is great for getting out mats without hurting him. It lost a few tines recently so I was glad Chewy’s carried them so I could replace it.

Worth buying.

I bought 2 of these; one for our short haired cat, and one for our short haired dog. The cat actually loves it, so much so, I leave it in his bed so he can rub up against it. It doesn’t really get as much hair off the dog as it does the cat, but she seems to like the feel of it sometimes.

Don’t think of this as a brush or comb replacement; more like a way of petting that does not involve fur going up your nose, as the silicone teeth will keep it from flying. Love the bamboo handle. Very nice looking and well-made.

This is a well-made item from sustainable materials that provides the utility of two different kinds of brushes with an attractive handle. Kyna appreciates the softer brush as a soothing attention, and the plastic bristles are great for more intense grooming.

My pup, Onyx, and I liked this brush. It was a nice softer brush for after the bath or a dry shampoo day! My boy would sit so pretty and roll over and show me his chest to brush! I believe Onyx is a reincarnated Diva because he loves being pampered with his CHI products as much as I do! We highly recommend this brush! (Ours was lost during a move).

I went through my fair share of brushes to find one that wouldn’t pull too hard and that he wouldn’t mind getting brushed. This one is great, he doesn’t bite at it and actually seems to enjoy it somewhat or at least tolerate it.

And it does a good job, Charlie is a border collie so he doesn’t shed excessively so this is perfect. I have a different one for getting all the excess fur out. He doesn’t like that one as much but at least that works.

I actually use this brush for my long haired cat and it’s really good at detangling his very fine fur. It’s gentle enough to use on his belly as long as I use a soft touch and it doesn’t irritate his skin.

I also really like the handle of this brush, it’s comfortable to hold and easy to use. It’s a heavy pet brush but is really good quality. I’ve since bought other Chi grooming supplies and have been really happy with all of them.

I’m a dog groomer of 15+ years. Been using this tool for almost all 15. This is the ONLY tool I use to perform de-shedding treatments on short hair coats. It’s also great for a thick arctic coat. This won’t work well or at all on long coats, they are best to have a Furminator brush as well as other combinations of tools used on them.

The dogs generally enjoy getting brushed with this tool because it’s soft and massages the skin. You can STILL brush burn with this tool just like any other brush so watch your number of passes and amount of pressure.

Also great for scrubbing/loosening coat during bath. Example of a few breeds/coat styles good for Zoom Groom: Pug, Pitbull, Smooth coated Chihuahua, Labrador Retriever, Beagle, Husky, German Shepherd Dog, Mastiff.

Examples of breeds/coats better for Furminator and/or combination: Golden Retriever, Rough Coated Collie, Bernese Mountain Dog, Pomeranian, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

After trying 6+ products, I finally found something that works for my dogs. I paired it with a bristle brush, to clean off the loose hair, but this works better than anything else I’ve tried for my pitbulls.

If I didn’t read the package, I would have just tried brushing my dogs with straight strokes, but the package said to use small circles. After about 5 minutes on each dog (I have 2), I had a golfball sized hairball.

That doesn’t sound like much to some, but for short-haired dogs, that is a lot. My complaints are that 1) when brushing, hair just goes flying through the air, 2) I have to use a second brush to wipe off the loose hair, 3) it is hard to wipe off the hair rinsing it off.

I will most likely use it more outside, when the weather warms up, to avoid having the hair go everywhere. Rinsing off the brush was just something that was inconvenient, because I wasn’t prepared for it.

It works really well on my dogs’ coats though, when nothing else worked.

I’m not much on leaving reviews, but I felt someone else needed to hear about this. I have a mixed breed pup with a -peculiar- coat type. I have tried everything from slicker-style brushes, to bristles brushes, and I even own the Furminator, but nothing could pick up the hair that I could easily pull out with my fingers.

I waited wayy too long to try this out because I had lost all hope for anything working, but it really does! Granted, I’m still a huge fan of the furminator and slicker brushes, just for other coat types, but if you have a dog with stubborn loose hairs that will NOT budge, then this works like a magnet and pulls them loose.

My second favorite aspect of this brush is that it is very gentle on the skin, so if your dog is nervous or jumpy (like mine) or has skin sensitivities then this is perfect! She literally did not want me to stop! I bought the “large size” for my 30 lb pupper (see pics for scale).

This wonderful product works 100%. not only on your pet. It works for the pet owner, no more anoying and messy, fly away hair. Imagine no more hair, sticking to you, or your furniture, on rugs, hardwood floors etc.

As the owner of two cockers, I am looking forward to avoiding mats this winter. Seeing how well this brush works with their shorter summer coats, I have no doubt that this will be even more helpful when I let their full coats come in thicker this winter.

Every spring, I battle mats when I go to clip off their thicker coats, and hopefully we will have far less to deal with given how well it works now.

This is a really great brush! I literally like everything about it! It’s light weight and portable, comes in a ton of fun colors, combs through my unruly curly hair weather it’s wet or dry, and it doesn’t tug or pull.

Absolutely cannot beat the price either. I recommend.

My pink Conair Wet brush has been the go to for those days whenever my hair is a mess I’m in a hurry. This little brush does very huge things in the name of hair. I simply spritz some product on my locks brush like I’m on a mission but within 3min my hair looks wonderful.

I couldn’t do it without my wet/dry brush and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants that fully brushed look in half the time. The best aspect of this product is the fact it was at my local Dollar General for barely a dollar! 💛.

This is the absolute best hair brush on the market. I use to literally take me 30 minutes just to brush my hair and get the tangles out. I have tried EVERYTHING from hotoil treatments to leave in conditoners and NOTHING helped.

After chemotherapy when my hair finally grew back it was absolutely the worse hair on the planet. While I was brushing my hair I would get 5 or more handfuls of hair out of my brush everytime I brushed even if I brushed and then repeated it 20 mins later it would be horrible.

With this brush I have not once gottwn more than a couple strands out after brushing and it keeps my hair from tangling up during the day and while I am asleep. I’m telling you it is magic pure and simple.
