20 Best Desktop For Stock Trading (2023 Updated)

When I say good for casual gamers, I don’t mean that this PC doesn’t have the chops to play the latest AAA titles at 60FPS. It definitely can! The 5700G processor is quite capable and powerful with a bonus of integrated Vega graphics.

The GPU, an RTX3060, is still in the current gen and thanks to CES is now no longer the entry level card in NVIDIA’s lineup. That’s now the 3050. Lenovo installed 16GB RAM correctly in Dual Channel configuration and it is upgradeable to 128GB thanks to the 4 channels on the motherboard (more on that later……) 512GB SSD and 1TB HDD means you won’t run out of storage immediately.

The case is mesh, with two 120MM fans pulling in air, a 120MM CPU Cooler, and a 120MM exhaust. This all amounts to a quiet, cool temp gaming experience. So why does this only meet the casual gamer criteria? Well, simply put, the upgrade potential is still somewhat limited in the most basic area: RAM speed and over locking potential.

The motherboard claims to support RAM of 3200, but the BIOS and lack of XMP/AMP support means no RAM, stock or upgrade will reach those speeds. An enthusiasts off the shelf board would enable this, but by upgrading that you void your warranty, since the Lenovo vantage software (which manages your BIOS, RGB, CPU power management, etc.

is not present on any off the shelf ATX board. The case uses standard ATX mounts, so of course you could physically fit the new motherboard in, but it’s not a Lenovo Legion PC at that point really. So if you are willing to accept that the motherboard will always be a bottleneck for your CPU and RAM due to lack of overclocking support, what can you upgrade? 1.

RAM (with aforementioned limited returns) 2. CPU cooler (if you prefer all in one liquid cooling) 3. More case fans 4. Additional storage drives 5. The power supply (though the FSP unit onboard is 80+ Gold rated and will last a while) 6.

The GPU (if you can find one at a good price), which is a Lenovo card produced to NVIDIA’s spec. To many users, who just want a personal computer that just works for them for a couple years to play the latest games at 1080p and also have the chops to meet all the basic web browsing, video streaming, productivity tasks, go for it.

It’s a great machine that’s up to the task. If, like me, you’re forced into pre-built PCs by this market but want something that’ll give you limitless potential to get into the DIY PC game, this isn’t it.

But it could be a good PC to try it out in the areas I described. Just don’t expect it to do what Lenovo doesn’t intend it to do.

Here’s my thoughts after owning this beast for 24 hours: Ordered the Legion Tower 7i on Saturday the 21st, it shipped out of Pennsylvania and was here in the Bay Area, CA by Friday the 26th, super quick shipping! Unfortunately when it arrived the packaging did have a good bit of damage to it but that’s UPS’s fault not Lenovo.

I was worried about the tower but it seems to be alright other than a scratch to the top of it which i already cleaned up! Upon startup you have a super clean computer running Windows 11 and absolutely no junk that needs removing.

The Legion Tower 7i starts up really quickly and makes virtually no noise. The AIO liquid cooling system as well as the ventilation for this pre-built is masterfully done and the chassis itself is amazing as well and one of the main reasons I went with the Legion.

Gaming wise the Legion Tower is up there as one of the pound-for-pound best pre-builts when it comes to value for specs. The GeForce RTX 3070 will have you running any game you want flawlessly and the Lenovo Vantage allows you to overclock if necessary to get that little extra.

I plan to upgrade the RAM within the next few weeks and once I do I probably wont be upgrading anything else on this PC for a few years, that alone should speak to how solid this pre-built is. If I had to have a complaint my only one would be that I reached out to Lenovo customer support asking if my order was going to come with a mouse+keyboard upon delivery and after giving them my order # i was told that it would not so I paid extra money for overnight shipping so that a mouse+keyboard would arrive the same day my Legion Tower did, and then of course upon unboxing I found that it did come with a mouse+keyboard.

Mistakes happen though so its no big deal! Overall I couldn’t recommend this pre-built enough, Lenovo did a great job with the Legion Tower 7i. I’ll be updating my review after 6 months but im pretty confident i’ll still be loving it by then.

Context: initially ordered 90RS001GUS (Legion Tower 5i w GTX 1660) which was RMA’d, this review is for 90RB001TUS This computer is well priced for what you get. This was the second order of a Legion 5 tower, slightly different specs, not much difference in price: CPU from i7-11700 to ryzen 7 5700 G storage from 512 GB PCIe SSD to 1 TB GPU from GTX 1660 to RTX 3060 (12 GB) For $60 more.

The difference in CPU is negligible (benchmarks seem to be a toss up), the storage is a little better, and the GPU is a lot better. What isn’t mentioned in the listed specs is the improvement in CPU cooling.

The first Intel tower had a small cooler pushing air to the side (in the direction of the glass panel). The AMD tower has a larger cooler pushing air in the same direction as the case fans from front to back.

Based on temperature readings under load, the AMD tower is doing a much better job of cooling. Overall, an excellent computer and with the Black Friday sales, and excellent price. One star was removed for one glaring deficiency present in both the Intel and AMD tower: a lack of power cable for the 3.

5″ hard drive bays. Both towers have a hard drive bay with 2 slots for 3. 5″ HDD. Both towers have a SATA cable from the motherboard with free ends clearly for SATA data. Both towers were missing anything from the power supply to power additional HDDs.

If you look in the manual for both towers, adding HDDs should be as easy as putting a HDD in the bracket and then sliding it in. No mention of connecting any cables. This strongly implies the presence of a back plane in the bays with the SATA data and SATA power connectors.

Unfortunately, neither tower had connectors. The backs of the bays were just solid metal. The power supply of both only had one free connector: on the Intel it was a PCIE 6+2, the AMD a PCIE 8. The difference was that the Intel had the PCIE 8 connected to the GPU, while the AMD had the PCIE 6+2 connected to the GPU.

This that both Legion 5 Towers had 2 x 3. 5″ HDD bays, SATA data connectors to the motherboard, but no way to power either anything in the bays. I was a little reluctant to return the first Intel tower because it was such a good price, but decided it wasn’t worth the price if I needed to replace the power supply in order to add 3.

5″ HDDs. I am very glad that I did since the AMD tower is so much better. For only $60 more, the SSD drive is 500 GB more (current price for 1 TB NVME SSD is < $100) , the GPU is much better (value $100-$200 more), and the CPU cooler is much more robust.

Improving just the CPU cooler would have cost me most of the $60. I’ve installed a second SSD in the free M2 slot on the motherboard, with the understanding that when I choose to add a HDD that I will need to replace the power supply.

If not for this, it would have been easily a 5 star purchase.

Acer hit it out of the park with this product! I’ve utilized and reviewed numerous different pre-built gaming PCs over the years, as well as assembled multiple custom systems. Acer’s attention to detail and inclusion of high end, top performing hardware make this unit a fantastic deal.

I would usually recommend building a custom PC over purchasing a pre-built as the quality of parts suffers and explains why pre-built PCs can be more affordable in most instances. However, Predator Orion 5000 is clearly an exception to my past and is a welcome, refreshing change.

The first thing you’ll notice when unboxing the PC is the build quality. The case is clean, sleek, modern, and sturdy. You have plenty of transparent panels so you can look in and see all your lighting and aesthetics, and it leaves you wanting to place it on display for the world to see.

Gone are the days of hiding your tower in cabinet, this tower will sit front and center. The cable management is immaculate, they did a great job hiding all the cables inside so they don’t become an eye sore.

There’s room for a 240mm radiator at the top of the case, a removeable dust filter at the bottom of the case, and a bunch of name brand, reliable parts in between. Moving on to performance, this PC will stomp on any benchmark you throw at it.

It’s loaded with a top-of-the-line CPU (Intel i7-12700F – 12 core 8P/4E), Nvidia RTX 3080, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB Samsung based Gen 4 NVMe SSD. This stacks up for some serious performance. In different benchmark tests I ran, it averaged the 84th to 97th percentile in performance for a gaming desktop.

This desktop is appropriately named as it appears to sit at the top of the food chain relative to performance. It had no problem keeping steady frame rates at numerous different resolutions, anything from 1080p, 1440, up to 4K.

I was concerned about heat knowing this has one of the most power-hungry CPUs and GPUs inside, but temps stayed relatively in check, not exceeding mid 70 degrees Celsius for either device. I wouldn’t be opposed to adding some liquid cooling however to keep temps a little cooler.

However, I didn’t experience any stability issues at all, I just prefer to have components run cooler. Overall, this is a very impressive pre-build gaming machine. Acer put a lot of design effort into this package, from little features on the case (removeable upper panel), selecting high-end, upgradeable hardware (there’s 2 open RAM slots on the motherboard, a spare M.

2 NVMe slot, spots for 3. 5” Hard Drives, etc), and in general just designing an amazing looking computer tower. If you’re looking for a high-power, high-end gaming desktop, don’t want to build it yourself, you don’t need to look any further.

This desktop looks great, will handle anything you throw at it, and can still grow with you with its upgradability. The amount of detail into this package makes it feel like it was custom built for you.

This review is written by a long time builder and enjoyer of custom gaming pcs. What you get in the box complete assembled pc, power cord, mouse and keyboard and very limited setup instructions. The nice thing is its very plug and play with a monitor.

The RGB looks good with the clear side panels. Everything comes apart easily to look inside. Cable management is well done. The 3070 that came with it has a support bracket to prevent sag. The Gpu has 1 hdmi and 3 display port slots on it.

USB ports on the mobo, I felt very limited by only 4 on the back. 2. 5gb nic port if you have a network setup to support it. Inside you have two mounting brackets on the back for 2. 5″ drives and on the inside you have two 3.

5″ mounting brackets. You get a 1tb nvme pci gen 4 drive preinstalled with windows 11. Setup is fairly quick and painless minus being forced into windows 11. Temps are pretty solid I ran some cpu stress test and it kept the processor around 90c so 10c of head room there.

Overall if you want something to just plug in and game away this will take care of you with the i7 12700 cpu and 16gb ddr5 ram and gen 4 ssd/nvidia 3070. Here’s what I didn’t like: the bios are terrible for a gaming pc.

They literally locked down just about everything that a “gamer” would want to play with. Want XMP on your ram. get ready to buy some new ram because the included ram is not certified for xmp. Want to adjust your fan curve to your liking.

nope you can only increase how fast they spin. Want to know more about the mobo running your new pc. nope its proprietary good luck finding any info on it or adjusting anything. There was no QVL list included so if you want to find compatible ram it’s a best guess or you have to contact their support.

this should be included with it hands down. The RGB software is kind of annoying I set a static color then if I reboot I have to reload the software and reset the color again. This “gaming” pc will play games no issues the hardware is more than adequate, but I was just overall very disappointed in the limited options they present to the end user.

I think Acer needs to actually talk with or interview some average run of the mill gamers and ask what kinds of things they want to see in a prebuilt rig instead of making all the choices they “think” we want.

Things I would have changed if I had the say to do so: More USB ports, better rgb software, more options in the bios under an “advanced” option in the bios for people who want more control. I would make documentation more readily available about QVL for memory and more documentation about the motherboard.

This is a great machine that I purchased to replace my previous machine which was about 6 years old at the time. Pros – Very small case, it can fit in even the smallest of desks. – In spite of it’s small form factor, there is a surprisingly high upgradability.

– 400W 80 plus gold PSU – At the time of purchase, the tech specs stated that it would come with Win 11 installed. When I received it and booted it for the first time, I was happily surprised when I was greeted with the Win 10 welcome screen! I thought I would be stuck with a new OS and it’s inevitable new bugs, but was happy with this outcome.

– The GTX 1660 super is perfect for 1080p gaming at med/high settings which is my preferred way of gaming. – The included wireless keyboard and mouse are decent, and helps keeps a clean look for any setup.

– They also included screws for an extra hard drive and an extra M3 screw for the M. 2 slot! So many prebuilt machines fail to include these little extras, so I want to give HP credit for doing something small, but makes a huge difference to the end-user.

– Wifi card is preinstalled in the other M. 2 slot and doesn’t have cables connected to the front panel, which makes getting into the machine much easier. – TONS of USB type A ports! 4 superspeed ports on the front, 2 5 Gb and 2 10Gb, 4 USB 2.

0 ports on the rear. The included SD card reader is also quite convenient. Cons – While the case was designed to allow decent air flow, it does not take advantage of it. The black bracket in the case has pre-drilled holes to allow a intake fan to be installed, however there isn’t one, and the way the holes are spaced out, it’s for a 70mm fan, which is a very odd, and rarely used fan size.

Also there is only one chassis fan connector on the motherboard and it’s a 3 pin. I would’ve liked to see a 4 pin that way the fan speed could be controlled instead just spinning at it’s maximum all the time.

– The ram my machine came with was only single rank, so the chips were only on one side. This was not stated on the tech specs for the machine and I believe it should be. I was going to upgrade the ram anyway, but it would’ve been nice to know for sure.

– The sata cables are the rarely used left angle connectors. This was a strange choice, but for whatever reason, the way the sata ports are on the motherboard and where the hard drives are mounted, you have to use a left angle sata cable.

Due to this, my right angle sata cables have the 90 degree side connected to the motherboard, and I have to twist the other end to connect it to my other hard drives. – There are only two sata power connectors, so to install more than 2 sata devices you would have to get a Y splitter cable.

– There is only one PCIe x16 slot for the GPU, but the only other PCIe slot is only x1 and there are very limited cards that would be useful to install. I wish it was x4 or more. – Only one M. 2 slot for NVMe SSD and it’s located pretty far away from the PCIe slots and CPU which is also another odd placement choice.

If they could put another slot right above the GPU that would be perfect for the main boot drive. Now most of this review would only be relevant to users that want to upgrade their machine. I imagine most people would not go as far as I have.

But I think having this information out there will help others decide which machine to buy.

My primary use for this computer is listening to music on Spotify. Having worked in the Hi Fi music industry for the past 40 years I was able to accumulate a well matched mid fi audio system. I replaced a 6 year-old HP computer that sounded good, so I expected the TP01-2165z to sound better but it far exceeded my expectations.

I find myself hearing instruments I never heard before on recordings I’ve been listening to for the past 30 years. Truly amazing. I also use this to download CD’s onto USB sticks for my car stereo, an improvement in sound quality I find difficult to describe.

Other than music the computer works great for banking, shopping, and downloading documents. The only problem I’ve had is transferring documents from my old HP to my current one. I bought another HP computer because I like the sound quality, ease of use and I thought it would be easier to download documents and music from the old HP to the new one.

the software I used tells me that everything was downloaded properly, however when I try to access the documents it tells me I am not authorized to access them. When I click the icon to get access it brings up forms and menus that far exceed my knowledge of software or computer lingo.

I feel like I should have bought another PC; mainly because of the trouble I have had around upgrading the memory. Before purchasing the PC I compared the specs of this HP vs the competitors and found them to be comparable for the price.

The HP had less memory than the other PC I was considering, though the specs for the HP said it is upgradable and the Q&A from this site also says the memory is upgradable. So, I bought the HP since the PC I was replacing was also and HP and had served me well for many years with many upgrades done to it.

I installed additional memory, per the HP specs, only to find that the memory is slowed down to 2133mhz instead of the 3200mhz capable. Originally, I thought I had purchased the wrong memory, so I double checked the specs and bought memory with an exact match to the memory specified in HPs motherboard page for this PC.

That new memory was also slowed to 2133mhz. So, I talked with HP support. Long story short, I talked with hardware support twice. Each time they transferred me to another department, new pc sales and HP Smartfriend (which you have to pay for support).

Both new pc sales and HP Smartfriend told me that they couldn’t help me and that I needed to talk to hardware support. Something as simple as upgrading the memory has me disappointed with the new pc and with HP.

Quite pleased with this purchase! Performs up to my expectations and beyond. I’d advise doing some research on this unit as to what this can do for *your own* particular needs and shop around. I only use it for web surfing, research, watching movies with an attached drive, entertainment, and most particularly for music composition, (Logic Pro X works like a dream with this.

) The built in audio is fine, but I prefer to use JBL powered speakers, easily attached. I also do not game, or need to use heavy graphics or business applications, and am and do not need to be concerned with lightning speed of any sort.

Seems to be as fast, or faster, as anything else that I’ve had previously. (2012 iMac) Setting it up was a. breeze. I suspect it can work well with situations that I have yet to explore as well.

Apple iMac is new to me just setting it up completely today, it’s beautiful and I am quite sure I am going to enjoy it very much. I am not a younger person so I am sure I will have some challenges. However, I hope this will be a joyful learning experience for me For many years to come.

The packaging of the box was in excellent condition when it reached my home. I was deeply impressed by the care of the package. I would definitely recommend anyone to at-least give it a try. As mentioned I am just beginning to learn what a iMac is all about.

and I love it. The screen is very wide which is very nice for me. And the interesting thing About it I am finding it easy to learn the basic skills of the key pad. So far I have not found anything I dislike about my IMac 21.

Having had 30+ years of Windows I decided to jump ship to an iMac having almost exclusively used an iPad over the last 5 years. For the speedsters, this model takes 1 minute 24 seconds to boot up from cold to sign-in, and 8 seconds from sign-in to productivity, so no real gain over a standard Windows PC with a similar chip set.

I lasted 5 days using the in-house word processing and spreadsheets before downloading Office for MAC 2019 from the web for £18. 99p. Considering this is a PC it is highly portable given the magic keyboard and mouse; so, normally resident in the spare room, it can be quickly unplugged and moved into the lounge to FaceTime the kids.

Learning the Mac OS is not difficult and I find the e-mail browser is better than Outlook. The standard screen is very clear and gives an acceptable picture on Sky GO HD. My 2 main criticisms are: 1.

for the price, Apple should include the numeric keyboard and 2. the number of apps for the iMac is minimal compared to the iPad. Overall, the relief of not having to faff with Windows 10 overcomes any issues with having to master the Mac OS and the all-in-one construction and wireless keyboard adds flexibility to the kit.

Go on, get one, but try and haggle a numeric keyboard out of Apple if you can.

Had this computer for over a week and love it. It’s fast, quiet and stays cool. I run warzone on all high settings getting 200+ fps and the gpu only be 60 degrees celsius (140 fahrenheit). Plenty of usb ports, RGB lighting and looks very clean.

10/10 recommend.

I have built my own desktops for the past 20 years and this prebuilt was a great deal for the money. Preforms great and never overheats with my games. I’m also a huge MSI fan as I’ve used their motherboards in the systems I’ve built.

Great product, came in spotless, nothing not connected duel channel ram slots set in, and the cable management was great,refurbished but basically brand new, playing gta full max settings at 44c on yhe gpu and 50c on the cpu only problem was the rbg not working according to the settings but it didn’t matter.

The key board and mouse were great too. For the 1100 price I paid for a 2060 super this was a 10/10 prebuilt.

This is really an elegantly designed piece of technology and offers a very unique “desktop” solution with a ton of power, yet is it almost invisible. The ideal customer is probably someone that wants a super small, yet super powerful PC with reasonable paths to peripheral upgrade.

2 PCIe SSD-1 slot on the front of the PC. The M. 2 2280’s will slot into the SSD-2 slot via the 9VX4T daughterboard on the back of the PC. You cannot use the SATA interface for a drive with the use of the daughterboard.

Also, the daughterboard is not sold aftermarket by Dell. If you didn’t get a Series 40 2280 drive with purchase, you will need to pick up an aftermarket daughterboard to use 2280 drives (daughterboard part number 09VX4T).

Perhaps the best option for capacity is a Series 35 M. 2 2230 drive (in SSD-1 slot) paired with an SSD SATA drive. At the time of my purchase in 2023, Dell did not offer an SSD SATA drive and I didn’t want a platter drive.

They should offer SSD SATA drive in my opinion. If you didn’t get your 7090 with a SATA drive, you will need a few parts (like the Hard Drive Cable SSD HDD Connector Adapter 00JT7H and bumped out back cover – HDD Caddy Bay Cover Bracket T0J3J).

The reason you want to use an SSD SATA drive for the highest capacity is there is likely a power consumption limitation for NVME drives and platter drives. Dell publishes that there is a 2TB limit for NVME drives and for a 5200 RPM platter based drive via the SATA interface.

With an SSD SATA drive, that limitation does not seem to apply. I was able to connect a 4TB SSD Samsung 870 QVO SATA drive directly to the motherboard without any issue. The drive is recognized at full capacity and functions as it should.

With an all-solid state configuration, there are no moving parts and the computer is nearly always silent. Probably my favorite aspect of this PC is the ability to plug the USB-C cable to my Dell U3818dw monitor and it not only sends the video signal but also powers the computer, without the use of another power cable to the computer.

This really cuts down on cable clutter.

I just put our first 7090 Ultra in production last week. First impressions are great! It offers space savings, and I think most beneficial, flexibility. I can put any monitor with it that I choose. Or swap monitors.

Whatever the situation requires. I feel this is a much better choice than the AIO devices for this functionality alone. We will be purchasing more to replace or AIO devices.

Discreet and blisteringly fast. Like all new home setups, it was a little unstable and shaky to start with but after a few automatic updates it settled and became as solid as rock. And by the way, updates that would take many hours to download and install on my old machine take minutes to install on this one.

Now, it feels as fast, or even faster than the enterprise VMs I log into for work. Treat yourself. You won’t regret it. Just make sure you get the right cable to run power from and video to, your chosen compatible dell monitor.

After looking on Amazon, Best Buy, and other sites, I found this PC on HP. com at a great price, so I went for it, and I’m very glad I did. It performs very well in every way that matters to me, i. e.

MS Office functions, media editing, Chrome browsing, and moderate level gaming. The slim tower design freed up some welcome space in my cramped home office. The inclusion of so many USB ports, a CD drive, and multi function SD port in such a compact unit is outstanding.

The setup process was the easiest I’ve ever been through, and I’m very pleased that the computer came with Windows 11 already installed. Although I’m giving five stars, it is worth noting that the keyboard and mouse are very low end.

Fortunately, my old HP keyboard and mouse work well on the new machine. The overall value of this PC is excellent, and I recommend it.

It’s been about two years now since my last review on this product. I stated if I needed more I would be back! Here I am. Pleased to say not one of my last three Slim PC’s has disappointed me. All are working and performing just fine.

Now I am replacing an older PC that cannot be upgraded to Win11. Still has great internal components and it has increased amount of RAM, faster disk drive, making this a no brainer purchase at this price point.

For those like me who have older PC’s that are not Win11 upgradable to latest security needs, definitely consider updating/upgrading to a HP Slim. Small footprint PC that still packs a full size PC punch? Yes! Absolutely!.

I purchased this to replace an HP Pavillion Slimline s3500f that I bought in 2008. This has everything my old computer had with the addition of some really nice features. I especially like the 250GB solid state drive which allows Windows 11 to boot up in about 10s.

And the 1TB HDD is great for storing photos, videos, and music. It’s the best of both worlds. Plus, it is very quiet. As for size, it is actually a little smaller than my old computer. You hardly know that it’s there! Even the keyboard is smaller which I’ve gotten used to and really like.

All in all, a great little computer with big capabilities. Kudos to HP!.

Bought two of these machines at the same time, and they are everything as described. The cases looked like new, they are very fast and started right up with no issues. they did come with the Wifi Adaptors and the adaptors for the HDMI.

if you’re looking for a real good computer for the money this is the place to get one. I did call Tekrefurb and the people where great to talk with and answered all my questions. I am very happy. mouse and keyboard were brand new.

The computer does everything it is advertised as doing, but it lacks some features that I assumed it would have. For instance, it has only one HD video port and no HDMI ports. Also, there is no WIFI connections.

Of course, these can be added. Also, the keyboard and mouse are not wireless. These drawbacks are offset by the price and functionality of the unit and make it a worthwhile buy. Also, I like that the keyboard has a line of real function keys, as a lot of my programs use them; and I do not have to press a Fn for access.

Have had this new computer for about 5 weeks now and have been VERY PLEASED with this purchase ! My unit came stamped as “Refurbished” instead of the “Used” I thought I was getting. Was glad to see that.

Setup was great, and the “Old School” connections allowed me to just drop in as I was replacing an older 4GB WIN 7 eMachine. So going up to 16GB Ram is a nice boost. The old DB25 Serial connection is nice as I do not have to deal with a USB to Serial adapter – Same with my PS2 keyboard and mouse connection.

Only thing that would have been nice would be if it was a WIN 7 machine – But I am getting used to WIN 10.

Issues! This unit took 3 weeks for delivery from JOY systems. First, it did not have bluetooth or wi-fi capabilities as shown in the specifications. The BB chat rep could only offer a return / refund.

I went to a location and described the situation and they gave me both a USB wi-fi adapter and USB bluetooth adapter, for which I am quite pleased. Both work well, but occupy USB slots The unit would not get through the boot process without freezing up.

After 48 hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that the unit would boot with only a single stick of RAM installed – didn’t matter which stick or which PCI slot. Currently inquired with JOY to remedy the RAM situation, but haven’t found a solution otherwise; Dell has no setting in the BIOS and diagnostics all pass.

I’ve got the unit loaded up and running smoothly, but prefer to optimize the RAM situation. We’ll see. Would recommend, but with caution. I’ve learned a lot through this process. Hoping it performs in line with my intentions.

The unit is supposed to have 8 USB ports, but it only has 6 that can be used. The other two are blocked from inside the unit. I am only using 5 currently. so that’s Okay. The USB mouse looked like someone had stomped on it, crushing it.

I planned on using a wireless mouse I have anyway. so that’s Okay, also. The keyboard is a really cheap one, but works. The monitors are huge and look great. I love the dual monitor thing. The machine is FAST compared to any other computers I have owned on start-up.

It loads Windows 10 very quickly. I am pleased with that. Overall, I am satisfied. I almost got what I expected. Just the stomped on mouse and the two blank USB ports kept this from being a 5 star rating.

But. it IS refurbished, no doubt.

I was still running Vista and having much trouble viewing and advancing catalog pages on the internet. My email program would not either load or send messages half the time. Now with this rebuilt 3020 Optiplex everything works great; it had to be the outdated operating system and the 3020 came loaded with Windows 10.

The new keyboard that came with it is great also, my old one had the reference keys worn down and was losing finger position. I am just an 80 year old guy and this 3020 sure fit the bill for the price! My daughter got an Optiplex from this company for church business as the tech recommended this company, they never have any issues with their products.

It was her recommendation to purchase from Micro Tech.

Kept going back and forth if I should buy a refurbished pc or not? Well this one was worth the risk cause I would only be out little over $100 and Walmart has a return if it wasnt up to par! Well Im so glad I decide to buy this computer!! It was perfect for what I needed! I have a small online business and I print out shipping labels and this was exactly what I needed!! Awesome deal!! 1 thing to be aware of is that this isnt WiFi so you would need to get WiFi usb/dongle or plug it directly to you internet modem.

It comes already loaded up with Windows 10 so that was Great! I powered it on and immediately was able to go straight to setting up my info into computer! I had to use install cd that came with my WiFi dongle in order to get it wireless to internet and everything works Perfect!! I also just added a sata drive and more ram I had from my old computer and it was literally plug n play!! Great price Walmart !! Thanks!!.

I’m very handy with computers, so I wasn’t afraid to dive into this refurbished machine. After a bunch of automatic updates, the machine was running almost perfectly. The only problem that caught me off guard was the Microsoft Edge (browser in Windows 10) that had the download bug.

Once I figured out that this bug exists, and that Edge was keeping me from downloading any programs from the internet, I installed Google Chrome and was on my way. I’ll worry about fixing the Edge bug some other day as I’m fine with running Chrome.

The only other thing was the power supply fan. It made a lot of noise on startup, but the company that refurbished this computer (Joy) was quick to send me a replacement. It turned out that the fan in my unit quieted up after running for a day so I didn’t need it after all.

I’ll keep it as a spare. As far as the specifics of this machine. It runs very quick. It might be my fastest workstation! I don’t do any gaming, so I can’t talk about its capability with that, but for emails and browsing it’s a tremendous value and over equipped for sure.

when we first booted it, it still had data and info from the previous owner. it also does not support nor properly run programs that should run fine on windows 10.

I had previously gotten a refurbished machine from another company and although they were nice people, their machine had issues. I turned it back in and ordered this one from Wal-Mart. I was a little apprehensive but it came sooner than originally expected.

It was packed nicely. It had everything (except the monitor, which was mentioned in their ad as not a part). I got a huge monitor at a thrift store that is great! I set up everything quickly and about a month later so far no issues.

I’m really enjoying this computer, at least so far.

My old PC gave up, and I quickly needed a replacement. This had reasonable specs, enough RAM (8GB), i5 CPU, and 500GB HDD. It arrived, and came with keyboard, mouse, and USB Wi-Fi dongle. It fired up straight away, and is very quiet, plenty fast enough, and refreshingly came without a load of unwanted rubbishy software pre-installed.

My only gripe, is the Wi-Fi dongle it came with. It is pathetic. My old (slower in specs) PC could achieve about 75mbps through it’s TP-Link USB Wi-Fi dongle (I have 200mbps cable), but when I connected to my Wi-Fi with the new PC, even though the connection was showing 4 bars, the speed was terrible.

I speed-tested at 0. 1mbps DL and 0. 07mbps UL !! Worse still, it kept disconnecting from my network. I tried my old Wi-Fi dongle but the new PC would not recognise it. So, I bought a brand new TP-Link Wi-Fi adapter (decent one), and thankfully I am now getting 178mbps wirelessly, awesome.

So, the PC was not at fault in any way, which is reassuring to know. Overall, I am happy so far, with this refurbished PC. The case is in very good condition, and the CD/DVD drive works fine too.

I was actually looking for an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G PC without a discreet video card since I wasn’t going to do any gaming. Now the only Ryzen 5700G PC they have included a Radeon 6600XT video card, but the price was still reasonable.

It comes in a smaller than usual case in white and has a cool transparent lighted “V” on the front panel that looks like a tunnel into the PC. It also comes with 16GB 3200Mhz RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, 1TB 7200rpm SATA HD, 500W power supply, Bluetooth 5.

2 and WiFi 6, 4 USB 2. 0 rear ports, 3 USB 5Gbps front ports (1 type C), and 2 USB 10Gbps front ports. It also has audio and 1Gbps ethernet ports. The video card supports 1 HDMI and 3 DP displays. The performance is great as I expected and it is quiet, but I wonder if it gets sufficient cooling because the only vent holes that I can see are on one side panel.

The other thing is I wish it had Windows 11 Pro instead of the Home version. But overall, I can’t complain too much.

Compact design, nicely assembled. Got the model with Ryzen 7 and RX 6600 XT, I wanted a PC to easily transition from console gaming to PC without falling in the rabbit hole of Gaming PC components, wanted something ready to go and get playing quickly and this computer worked just fine for that.

Can run most games in 1080p with medium or high textures and medium light effects and runs smoothly. The case is compact and looks nice, and it has easy access for when I want to make upgrades. The Keyboard and Mouse are the generic type, so I had to buy separate gaming grade keyboard and mouse.

Also, the case will need cooling upgrades for the CPU and general airflow, the GPU and CPU temperatures get quite high with fans running at max RPMs when playing more graphic intensive games with details set to medium or high.

so I usually lower some game settings to keep temperature under control and it’s fine, but to get the full potential of this PC I’ll need to upgrade cooling at some point, but overall a good experience to get started on PC gaming.

First, this pc look really good. It has barely sufficient but adequate cooling, a basic trademark of HP computer as a whole. This pc should run almost any game at medium to high settings at 1080p in 2023.

But just now that with a 350 watt power supply you can not upgrade to a very power gpu. You are stuck with a very good 1080p gaming experience only. But at $500, it is a great deal. High end gaming at 1440p = NO.

High settings at 1080p = YES.

I thought that Lenovo was a great tech company before I purchased this computer. I previously bought a Lenovo in 2012 and it lasted for 8 years, which is pretty impressive for a desktop. I had no major issues until it stopped working a year ago.

Last year I bought the Lenovo AIO3 AMD thinking I was getting the same quality,but I was wrong. After 6 mos the computer began running slower. I had security on my computer so I knew it wasn’t a virus.

I also did not have many apps downloaded, so I was unsure why it was running slow. As time progressed, the computer ran even slower, taking 30 minutes to start and 30 minutes to load a web page. I finally decided to use my warranty because I purchased the Better warranty where a technician comes to my home.

He was unable to fix it because it was all in one and said I needed to send it to the factory. I have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for this box and label to be sent, with no response. I have called numerous times about the same issue with no progress.

Very nice all-in-one unit. Graphics are clear and bright and touch is very responsive. SSD is very quick to boot up. Haven’t tried the camera yet. Not much to complain about. Poor instruction/setup guide as it is pictures only, which I hate.

The little cable guide doesn’t seem to want to connect to the base – keeps popping off so I decided to forgo it as the only cable is the power cord. If you are one of those that insert and remove usb’s often, the position of the left side usb port should be flipped as, if you have one of those usb’s that you need your thumb or finger to keep the connector extended to plug in, there is very little room for said digit up against the back of the display.

Also, the dvd barely pops out when you push the little button. That’s it.

I received the unit very quickly which was good. I was replacing an old unit that had been damaged by a storm(?) and the local computer shop said the mother board was dead. They transferred my data (thankfully).

However, this unit is EXCRUSIATINGLY SLOW. They suggested an upgrade to a solid state drive and 8gb more ram. I let them do that and it is very good, for my uses, now. It cost me another $460. 00. Their explanation was that Windows 10 will consume most of the resources on this unit, therefore anything else running would be unusable.

It’s not the unit or the cost that bothers me, it’s that you would sell a unit that you KNOW will just barely handle the OS that you install. I am dissatisfied with that part of the transaction. Otherwise, satisfied, at least now I am.

I brought this computer for work and it does not work. They gonna tell me to get tech services which are not free. So I paid $251 for a computer that has to be fixed before I can use it. Also seller is not wanting to refund me.

Came safely packaged, and arrived quicker than expected. came with the bigger power supply I was hoping it would come with, but with only one hard drive tray. I’m not concerned with the cosmetic issues, which were small, as long as it functions as described.

Pros: Astonishing QHD screen. Nice design, build quality seems very good. Touch screen input more useful that I was expecting it to be. Great performance for workstation / developer machine. Nice clean installation of win 8.

1 pro without loads of bloatware. Cons: Poor battery life – 2 1/2 to 3 hours at most even after optimisations. Dell trackpad drivers and app very poor. Ended up using Synaptics own drivers and app. No dedicated ethernet.

The USB to LAN adapter included in the box is only USB2 and very slow. Recommend getting a USB3 version or buying the USB3 Dell port replicator.

There is really nothing I can say positive about this computer. Upgraded system to Windows 10 (not equipped to handle upgrade to Windows 11,) but function worse then my four year old Dell. The reason is it’s six years old and made for a business/medical office, not the internet.

With the installation of Windows 10 the keyboard, mouse and camera went to he__. Still have not been able to get them to work properly. This is by far the slowest computer I have used in the past twenty years.

The independent service shop wouldn’t even look at it. They informed me there was nothing to work on. All the OptiPlex models are this way. They may be cheap, but there’s a reason for that. Save yourself the money and disappointment.

The 22in Monitor Ends up being the only true functional part. I’m so so disappointed , have so much to catch up and. To start there was no MOUSE in the box. I even split the styrofoam checking. Then as we no it takes a lil while to put your own office and word and personal things.

Then I have No Bluetooth because nuthing was updated on this computer as it finally answered all the other crap that would say no driver or full then it won’t get off my page to that I have to upgrade (update ) (refurbish everything that nuthing was the out come it said it didn’t have serial number or registry before and buy the stuff to be able to use it.

Now that is excact blinking that nuthing was done. All James up no Bluetooth. I finally fix a couple minor WiFi etc but I shouldn’t have to take hours just to get it to stay so I can write a letter. I was so so excited.

I new the price was to good. I wish that if ya didn’t do anything yet. Just say so. Some don’t mind buying scrape junk. I try to find the good in everything. The good was the monitor. People will keep coming back as long as it is everything you claim.

So fir this reason I gave a a 2 for the monitor. Now I got to search all over agin for the right one that has what I need and prefer with the size monitor at a reasonable price. hoping that the next one is the normal that’s all I ask is normal.

Lost work lost time etc.

Firstly, if you are considering this CPU at the time of writing, and have a Z97 or H87 chipset, I may suggest waiting about a week and getting the 4690K for around the same price. Should also note the 4690K has advertised support for VT-d too, and is rumored to be using a better thermal compound in-between the CPU die and IHS (for better temperatures).

I upgraded from a Phenom II X3 720 (unlocked to X4 @ 3. 2GHz) and an ASRock 970 Extreme3 R1. 0 board, so in that regard, the 4670K is a really nice and noticeable upgrade. I overclocked my 4670K to 4.

0GHz across all cores, with a cache ratio of 40. Vcore voltage is 1. 2V. YMMV. My environment consists of an ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Killer, a CM Hyper 212 Plus (using Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound with the dot in the center method), and a hec 585W PSU (about 3 years old).

That PSU in-particular only has a 4-pin CPU connector, which I can confirm is enough to reach the above clock speeds (anything higher isn’t ideal temperature and stability-wise in my setup). My GPU is a MSI R7850 PE 2GD5/OC @ 1GHz core clock, at 1600×[email protected]

So about the lack-of VT-d, it seems relatively common that Intel strips certain virtualization features from their unlocked CPUs. I was interested in trying out some GPU-passthrough and virtualization.

Considering my old setup met the requirements to do the passthrough (IOMMU), I thought it wouldn’t be a problem with way-newer Intel hardware. Needless to say, I was rather surprised by the lack-of that feature.

As for why Intel does this, it seems to be mostly speculation, but an idea is to just keep their non-unlocked CPUs relevant. And as for a temperature note, it seems Intel chose to use a cheap thermal compound in-between the CPU die and IHS (the top cap you sit the heatsink on; note the die is significantly smaller than that area).

Previous CPUs by Intel used solder, which transfers heat from the die to the IHS far more efficiently. There’s no official-word for the reasoning as far as I know, but there are two ideas: – Due to the die manufacturing process, using solder and having temperature changes would cause the die itself to crack under stress from typical usage scenarios (would be bad for PR and the RMA department).

– It’s cheaper to use thermal compound over specialized solder (this wouldn’t surprise me coming from Intel). And on-top of the cheap thermal compound, the IHS is secured to the PCB via thick glue. Because of this, the IHS and die don’t come in-contact with each other as close as they can, which then leads to poor heat transfer.

You can attempt to fix the temperature situation yourself via “delidding”, but be very aware of the risks of doing so (one wrong scratch on the CPU die and it’s likely done), along with accepting loss of any warranty.

It cannot be stressed enough; do your research before even thinking about trying delidding! The risk is well worth the reward in some cases though (significantly lower temperatures, thus more O.

First off, I don’t pretend to be an expert on the subject of CPUs the way some people are – I mainly take the word of other people here and Tom’s Hardware who know more about these things than I do. The biggest reason I bought this chip over the 3570k is that someone suggested the 1150 socket type might see use in the future, where the 1155 is pretty much dead.

I’m really not sure this is true – you’d probably want to research more on your own. That having been said, this chip is most definitely a huge upgrade over the oooold dual-core CPU I was running and in that respect, it’s a winner.

My hesitation in not giving this 4 or 5 eggs is that I think I might have done a little more research before jumping on the 4670 bandwagon. I originally was thinking of getting an i5 3570 and from what I’ve seen, you might want to consider this too, but please, don’t take my word for it.

This chip has 2 significant drawbacks I’m aware of: 1) It runs pretty hot when OC’ed 2) It doesn’t seem to OC particularly well to begin with. I don’t really know how well an OC’d 4670 benchmarks against an OC’d 3570 at a higher clock rate, though, so the inability of most of these chips to go above the 4.

3-4. 4ghz range could wind up being a wash. I got an EVO 212 cooler and cranked it the processor up to 4. 5ghz and something stupid like 1. 4v, before gaming for a couple hours. The chip stayed under 90C for a couple hours of punishment, but the next morning it started blue-screening, and I was able to replicate those results with some Prime95 stress tests.

Ultimately, I had to dial it back to 4. 3ghz and 1. 2ish volts. Good enough, I suppose, but nowhere near the 4. 6 or 4. 8ghz some people are getting from their chips. Not all 4670s are created equally, I suppose.

Overall, I’d say I’m fairly satisfied with the choice I made, but I might have done a little more research before buying this one first – I might well have chosen differently if I had.

The one I got turned out to be a decent mid-range overclocker as I was able to get 4. 4GHz stable with Gskill Sniper memory at 1866. Never had temperature issues, just flat out instability above 4. 4 GHZ, but hey: That’s still almost a 30% OC! Had to push cpu voltage up to 1.

295 -just under the 1. 3v ceiling where Haswell starts to really heat up. Memory rated for 1866 @ 1. 5v needed a boost to 1. 52 volts to stay stable but it has been running 24/7 like this for almost a week now.

I do have an H110 mounted in the top of my Corsair C70, pulling air through the radiator and exhausting out the top of my case. Glad I got that because temps have been very good. Also have four intake fans (2 front, 2 bottom) and one rear exhaust which give the C70 great positive air pressure (side panel vents taped up with clear packing tape.

) At stock clocks idle temps are in the mid 20s, and overclocked to 4. 4 running benchmarks temps never go over 80c. That’s a win as far as I’m concerned. System: Corsair C70 ASUS Z87-Pro (V Edition) i5 4670K 8GB G-Skill Sniper 1866 Sandisk Extreme 240GB SSD MSI R9 270X OC Gaming I replaced a Core2 Duo e6870 (Couldn’t even get a 10% OC with that) and am very pleased with the Haswell i5, especially since the ASUS MB can access all of its overclocking potential and tweak every little thing the processor has to offer (which is a lot.

) All games so far are on max or ultra graphics settings. This processor compliments a good graphics card very nicely.

Replaced my old docking station/laptop with this space-saving, powerful machine. I hadn’t taken the laptop out of the station in a while, didn’t do much travelling and wanted to increase my processing power, RAM, and graphics.

Love this little mini. The only noticeable adjustment I’ve had to make is that periodically the fan kicks on, but I’m not bothered by it at all.

I wanted something quiet and small to drive a bedroom monitor (65″). This proved to be just the thing and came complete with Windows. it seems plenty fast enough for my use and you can add additional storage if needed.

Z400’s are a lot like the Z200’s especially the early ones as both are dual channel machines with 4 memory slots. The later Z400’s have three memory channels and 6 memory slots. The quadcore CPU’s are one generation more advanced.

From a practical perspective they are both very much alike. If you are looking for a real server, the dual Xeon Z600 or Z800 series. But for individual workstations these are hard to beat and can be configured to meet a very wide range of requirements.

When new, they cost too much. Five years later you can find them for less than $150 including shipping. Most come with Quadro cards that cost more than that when new. When you add a quality easy to work on case, usually a lot of DDr3 memory, and a top of the line power supply; it adds up to a lot of value for the money.

The item arrived before the expected date. It was very well packaged. The seller communicated with me (im a newbie. ) throughout and was very helpfull. The item is in excellent condition and looks hardly used.

I will upgrade some aspects of this computer but so far it is keeping up with my workflow, but some upgrades would be of benefit and this system lends itself well to be upgraded. It has a good amount of HD bays and can support1 or 2 full length GPU cards.

Ive installed a USB3 card in a spare pci slot. I am really happy with the item and have had zero problems with it.

Bought to replace a dead Z400. I always expect problems with refurbished kit, but so far, I have found none with this machine. Of course, I reinstalled my own version of linux before connecting it to my network, and I’ve not yet swapped the SSD out of the dead box.

use it for all of my regular tasks – all the usual stuff that systems administrators do, plus photo editing and web browsing.
