20 Best Desktop Computer Under 400 (2023 Updated)

This pc let me just say is great but I just have to say a pc that’s so amazing has to have cons when I first began my search for a pc I looked high and low (really just scrolled through my phone lazily) I set my eyes on this beauty and realized it’s what I wanted I got a job and started my journey towards this beautiful piece I got the pc on a grand day the sun was shining the sky was blue I saw it sitting on my door step with quite a bit of package damage but no matter! I had my loot secured my bounty cherished! I would like to also make this clear I had no idea how pcs worked or even how I was supposed to start this thing of beauty I quickly learned a lot more than I thought I would… it all started power button and it ticked to life! But the led lights they wouldn’t turn on and myself being stubborn I decided to pull the case open and look inside they weren’t even plugged in.

Oh no matter! I fixed that quickly and the led lights worked! I’m not going to lie I was very proud of myself just for plugging in a cord 🙂 and I started it up set up a steam account, plugged in my headset, and… no sound… “hmm that is a little odd let me replug it in” no luck so once again I was confused and I decided to contact tech support which let me say they were some of the kindest people.

They first directed me to get a splitter after I bought it the problem pressed on! My brain grew in knowledge of pcs but my heart grew bare and my hears become noiseless with the lack of a working headset.

I recontacted tech support and they said “I needed to buy a headset with the trs cable” this was all news to me. I proceeded to purchase the required headset with the double striped cables. The problem once more reared it’s ugly head as I plugged in the headset! I started to get frustrated and watched many YouTube instruction videos about how audio works, what’s a trs vs a trrs, why doesn’t my mic and headset work? So on and so forth.

I prepared myself for the inevitable hours that it would take to fix the pc and possibilities of breaking it, but with a stubborn head set upon my shoulders I plunged into the dark depths of the pc and found… the hd audio cable was plugged in with half of the silver spikes poking into it.

I plugged the cord in correctly and put my headset on… and there it was the glorious music now I could listen to Shreksophone late at night without my parents knowing! TLDR. A good pc for an even better price but even great things come with negative side effects.

Recently bought the Blaze II. It arrived in about 2 weeks in perfect condition. I decided to go with this prebuilt as my first new gaming PC in 20 years, having built my own back in college in the CS 1.

0 days. I bought this to introduce my kids to PC gaming. After comparing this to building my own, Alienware, and Ibuypower, this was the clear pound for pound dollar for dollar choice. And it wasn’t that close.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the mouse and keyboard. They are gaming quality with lights. Mouse has a good weight and the keyboard is full metal backed. Started up immediately and ready to go out of the box.

Runs COD Warzone beautiful ly. Mostly I have played CSGO. My kids play Valorant, Roblox, Among US, and other less graphically intense games. I love the tempered glass case. I was able to teach my kids about all of the components and what they do, and they get to see them in action.

Also love that these are built in the USA. Only cons I really have are that I wish mine had a better brand of motherboard that had a software config, and I don’t believe the RAM sticks even match brand, but I’m picky that way.

That’s the trade off for me but building it all custom. I definitely recommend the Blaze II, and have recommended it to a few friends.

It’s a lovely PC, nice case and all, but I’m absolutely livid that the cable routing solution is just “stuff everything extra into the HDD bay and screw anyone installing a HDD,” which meant I spent a couple hours desperately trying to install my HDD and shuffle around the rat’s nest of cables and cords I unleashed.

I bought a prebuilt PC for multiple reasons but not having the headache of cable management was a big factor in my decision but joke’s on me, I still had to do it myself. There’s hardly any clearance behind the mobo’s panel, which wouldn’t be QUITE as bad of an issue if the outer PC panel bowed out slightly for some relief like a previous case I had does.

( Y’all got a panel that fits this case that does that? HMU. ) If you plan to supplement this PC with a HDD, maybe don’t. Pros tho: Runs so much quieter than my old PC. Inside of the case is very sleek with the mostly black parts.

Booting from an SSD is as nice as I dreamed it would be. Temps seems fine so far too. I do wish I had more control over the lights, like a dimmer of some kind instead of just turning them off entirely, but it’s also my first lighted case so it’s all very new.

After having my computer crashed, I really didn’t want a new one. I thought the price to repair would be better used to purchase a new one. I really liked my old computer but researched Lenovo before buying.

I have found it so easy to setup even to my printer. I love that the cost included the keyboard and mouse. The price was also very economical. I’m really enjoying this product so far. The screen is awesome as is the keyboard.

The screen is easy on the eyes and the keyboard is easy to the touch. My printer has even speed up since connecting to the computer. Thanks for making such a user friendly computer.

I should have read and believed the reviews. Someone stated in one review it was basically a paper weight and that is exactly what it is. I have had this computer a year and it’s still sitting on my desk.

I only bought it not knowing that the company I was applying for to work from home would supply a PC to me. I have not downloaded anything on it and I even went through to uninstall programs that where already preinstalled to see if it would go any faster and it’s still the same super slow.

Internet slow as well. My HP laptop I have had for 6 years is allot faster then this with or without update. I wish I could return it but I waited to late to open the box. I turn it on from time to time to see if updates are sent and if it would help but still slow.

What a waste of money so buyers please look into another brand.

I bought this AIO as a gift for a 89 yr old family member, to replace a 15+ year old laptop attached to an old monitor. I selected the mid-range model at purchase because the base model was temporarily unavailable.

Pros: Good price to features ratio. Very good AIO for the purpose (currently browsing, emailing, shopping, documenting, light gaming and conferencing). Shipping time was fairly fast (we are located in a remote area); no shipping damage occurred.

No issues with the product, thus far. Quiet computer. Better than expected speaker volume (so I was able to ditch the external speakers). The mic works fine. Touch screen works well (the keyboard-mouse is the main input tool).

Cons: Camera on top of monitor is too high for shorter people; one needs to tilt the monitor forward and raise the person’s seating position (had I noticed this beforehand I may have went with a different product / vendor).

Vertical height of screen not adjustable (which would have helped with the camera positioning). The supplied keyword was merely adequate. it was replaced with a wireless keyboard-mouse set. Neutral: Lenovo software / tools were uninstalled / not installed / hidden so that the user would not have to deal with them.

A USB hub was added so that the user did not have to access the rear slots.

Everything works well and so fast but wifi connection is terrible. They changed the dongle but still didn’t work very well. I have a very fast computer but couldn’t use for work much as internet connection is needed to my work.

So disappointed. I should have buy new one.

Great product so far. I bought a different one in the past from Walmart and it lasted about 5-6 years until we moved back in May , I think it got wet. Now we have this one. I’m very pleased with it. It has everything I need.

The computer arrived well packaged and as promised and overall seems to work smooth and fast. The setup took some time. Several (20+) software updates were required. This was not readily apparent initially and caused a delay in loading other software.

Because this is an All-In-One, setting it up in its final working location is difficult because of the requirement to access the rear ports to connect USB, HDMI and power cord. Ultimately, I was unable to successfully connect the HDMI and because of the fragility of this connection, I believe the pins are bent and the port doesn’t function.

The wire concealment in the base stand is good once the connecting wires are patiently threaded through the slot on either side of the stand. There is easy access to USB – C and USBx2, mute and headphones on the right side next to the power switch.

The initial setup frustration made a negative first impression. Once set complete the computer seems to work smooth and fast for MS apps and CNC CAD software. I would purchase again if on sale.

Light weight but sturdy all in one HP computer. Wished the keyboard and mouse were wireless like my previous HP all in one. Not enough usb ports in the back and none on the side. Instead you get a dvd drive located on the right side.

Power button is hidden on the rear of the lower right side, which is easily accessible. A mini light is illuminates when the power is turned on. Haven’t used the camera yet but did check out how the image was displayed.

Could be better but now a deal breaker. Screen response relatively quick when computer is turned on as well as accessing the programs/icons. Overall a good computer for the price. Not used for gaming, so unable to comment on that.

This is not a touch screen which is ok. Had a touch screen before and barely used it mainly because of fingerprints on the screen. Opted for Windows 11. Easy to navigate so far, haven’t yet experienced it’s full potential as I have not had this computer for very long.

I love my HP 22 all in one computer. It does everything and more and is an excellent product for the cost. The only cons I have is maybe a few more USB ports on the monitor itself and maybe a convenient SD slot.

Both of these have an easy work-around by adding a monitor stand that has several USB ports attached. Irregardless, it all works efficiently, takes up less space on my desk which is a Godsend and upgraded to Windows 11 with no problems.

The monitor is the perfect size, not too big and not to small and all my programs are playing “nice-nice” with each other. I added an extended warranty, for unexpected problems, but I doubt if I will ever need it.

There are several models so get the one that you that meets your needs the best. I will definitely buy another one of these as we all upgrade from time to time but for now I am more than pleased with my purchase.

You get what you pay for. This computer is incredibly slow. I’m not talking slow as in I have to wait 10-15 seconds for something to load, I mean 2-3 minutes if it even loads at all. I know it’s not my internet because I have other computers running that are acting perfectly normal.

Also, when this PC goes to sleep, it stays that way. It’s very difficult to wake it. I have to hit the enter button over and over, and click the mouse. To make it even more annoying, I need to put in a password every time I want to use it.

I cannot find anywhere in the settings to make this stop. I live alone and do NOT want my PC to lock constantly. This has Windows 11, which is really annoying me. Nothing is where I expect it to be including the Start menu which is now centered on the bottom of the screen instead of on the left where it belongs.

I’m writing this review now because I’m waiting for Excel to open. I’ve clicked it three times already and the little icon spins for a while then goes away. Whatever you do, don’t buy this PC. The others cost more for a reason.

As soon as I save some money, I’m going to buy one of the more expensive brands and use this junk for. I don’t even know. I was going to say games, but I doubt it can handle them.

Got this jewel home and got it all set up with little issues. It’s a huge open space inside. Gone are the days of the optical drive and the mechanical hard drives. This unit has 500gb SSD on the mainboard.

the biggest part of this system is the video card and fans. FANS! FANS! and for good measure. another fan! I play Elder Scrolls Online and an old school title, Star Wars Galaxies. Both are MMO titles.

This PC plays these titles at full graphics and shadows on. Screaming fast and no issues with graphics. This system is sold with 8GB RAM, 3 GB gets used by Windows and bloatware. buy a 2x 8gb 3200 ram upgrade, it will save you a lot of aggravation.

The system has 4 slots for memory on the board. I believe you could install 4 banks of 32gb RAM for maximum upgrade. That’s a LOT of memory. IMO 16gb to 32gb is all you need. The cooler on the CPU is a generic OEM style fan on top of the radiator fins on your CPU, I have installed a Cool Master cooling fan and heat sink.

It’s just a $40 upgrade that can save you hundreds. Heat is your enemy in Gaming PCs, There was no indication of excessive heat using the stock cooler and fan but I made the upgrade because I have learned the first thing you do is upgrade the CPU fan, and bump up the memory.

Overall I am happy with this system. I have it connected to a 32″ Vizio Full 1080p HD Smart TV for my monitor. Works great! My KEYBOARD was defective. Space bar sticks and the number pad is missing the 4 on the four key, it is going to be replaced but it’s a slight hassle that I shouldn’t have to deal with.

The matter was resolved with a phone call. Just have to wait for the new keyboard to arrive. I gave the 4 stars because of the keyboard issue.

Normally prebuilt computers come with off-brand motherboards and other components. The motherboard here is a Gigabyte B560 – not top of the line, but not some off-brand garbage either. I’m not sure what the HD, SSD, and memory brands are because I didn’t take them out.

The computer itself is whisper quiet, and quite fast. The chip is an 11th generation Intel I5 and it comes with Windows 11. Since the computer comes with only 8Gb of memory (1 x 8Gb) I added 16Gb (2 x 8Gb) – and was surprised that the motherboard accepted all 3 sticks.

There are 4 SATA connections on the board, one of which is in use by the HD. There is enough room in the drive bay for 2 additional 3. 5″ drives, and room to mount two 2. 5″ drives. I used one of those two to mount a second SSD (1 Tb).

If this is something you are considering, you will need a SATA cable and a SATA power cable extension. There is a second power slot on the SATA power cable included, but it will not reach the 2. 5″ drive bays.

All in all I would recommend this system – you get a good amount for a fair price.

Its not bad, but it could have been better. Here are the issues I have with it: 1. It is not that fast, even for an i-5. It hesitates when I’m trying to load certain programs and pages or switch between applications.

If you’re a designer/programmer and you need to work with bigger or moderately graphics-heavy files you’re not going to work very efficiently with this machine. 2. It is noisy. I expected this computer to be relatively quiet because it has an SSD.

It has a fan that is on pretty much all the time while the computer is not in sleep mode, and it is loud and distracting. 3. It seems ok over wi-fi for Zoom, Skype, or similar platform if you use the onboard camera.

But though the ad says that the onboard camera is HD the quality of the video it produces is not that good. For chatting with your friends its ok, but if you’re using it for work and you need professional looking video you need an external camera.

My problem with this computer is that it can’t recognize the video capture card that I’m using with my Canon camera—even though my old Desktop and laptop machines can, and this is 1080p video, not 4k.

So, I tried using my Canon via USB, and though this works well with my old computers it freezes and glitches all the time when I connect it to this machine. I do a lot of social media video for work and this is the main reason why I bought this PC.

But, I can’t use it for that so. 4. The build quality of the keyboard and mouse is not good, They look and feel like cheap plastic. HP is clearly trying to copy Apple’s design with this computer, but this comes nowhere close to the Mac.

But, to be fair, you’re not paying Mac price for this so just be prepared to spend $100 or so on a decent replacement keyboard and mouse. This computer would probably be a good machine for an average PC user so I’m going to gift it to my son and buy something else for myself.

Windows 11 Setup, which I have found easier to work with than I expected by a long shot. Beautiful clarity, new help features which really help an old guy like me. (79) Where I was finding myself having trouble locating certain data on my “Shot Windows 10 PC,” this new model HP dp-1066 Windows 11 upgrade has indeed helped me.

I must say though I had great help from the head technician Robert at the Westwood Village Store located in West Seattle. HP Computers are complimented by matching it up with an HP Printer. That’s all I have ever used in my 35 years of printing and faxing.

I’m a tad picky about my on-line hardware purchases so I buy everything from desk chairs to ink and paper or pens, etc. etc. I honestly purchase 80% of anything I need in this category at Staples. H.
