20 Best Desk Light For Eyes (2023 Updated)

I have purchased two of these lamps. I use one for needlework and my husband uses one for his leather work. Both put out great light with three levels to choose from. The power cord, however, is very thin even though it has a large box on one end to plug into the wall.

My newest lamp already has a short in the cord and I’ve only had it a few months. I have to store the cord when not in use to keep it away from my pets so my assumption is that bending it to put it away in a basket has caused a break in the wiring.

I wish they would make a heavy duty cord for the lamp, then it would be with 5 stars.

Finally! This is exactly what I have been looking for! I’ve been needing more light at the craft table for a while now, but was having trouble finding one that was affordable with good reviews. I decided to take a chance and try this out.

I’m so happy with it, especially with how portable it is. Makes it very very easy to take between rooms, which is exactly what I wanted. The flexible neck is also a major bonus. I highly recommend!.

Have been using for about a month. Bought for close work on knitting, sewing, reading, crafting. I wanted a goose neck to adjust angle of light. Has a good light (3 levels). The base needs to be wider or round, tips over on uneven surface.

The off/on button is level/smooth with the base so you are required to look at the base to find the button. Needs to be raised or marked so you can find it without looking. Would also prefer to have an off/on button/switch & a separate button to change to the 3 different levels of light (low, bright, brightest).

Light is very good. Overall, a good gooseneck light with some minor inconveniences.

I love this lamp! Sturdy, simple and attractive design, very good quality and has a small enough base to fit on my bookshelf. HIghly recommended! It replaces one I had bought last year, kind of bulky and elaborate, and it lasted a year.

This time, the Sunbeam brand attracted me!.

I have had an earlier model on the computer desk for over a year and it’s worked perfectly. Three level light works well and can easily adjusted to through light on my keyboard and myself and others for zoom meetings.

The touch switch works well but is probably the only con I’ve encountered. It’s quite easy to brush the switch and change or turn off the light altogether and my cat can inadvertently switch it when she brushes over it.

I have had a little flexibly lamp that I bought about 5 years ago and the LED lights are beginning to flicker so I found this lamp and it is awesome! It has three levels of light which is really nice for reading or just for accent lighting.

This is an excellent lamp that I purchased to replace an ancient folded neon lamp that I use in my bedroom/office for reading and general lighting. As a bedroom lamp its easy to turn on and off when your in bed as all you need to do is tap on the base a couple of times and it goes on and off as required so no fumbling around for a rocker switch in the dark.

It gives off a great daylight colour which is great for my photography work and brightness is simple to adjust. A great all rounder that is sturdily built to last.

I will keep this lamp, as it is useful for some of my lighting needs. HOWEVER, it is listed as having 7 color temp adjustments. I can verify only 3: Studying (The brightest white) Reading (a less bright, neutral white) and Relaxing (a warmer, more mellow, yellowish glow.

) Regarding the 7 brightness levels for each of the 3 (not 7) color temps: The dimmable range is minimal. when adjusting sequentially from brightest to dimmest. The 7 steps are so close together in brightness, that I had to put on my glasses to see the minute differences.

Yes, you can easily notice when you go directly from brightest to dimmest, or for that matter, the reverse. But the dimmable minimum is not nearly what I hoped for. Nor are the miniscule differences when going sequentially from settings 1 through 7.

Dimmer technology for LEDs works very well in proper home & commercial installations. But I have yet to find it in the small lamp world. I would recommend this lamp with the caveat that one not expect it to fulfill nightlite duties.

The lamp is elegant, and seems to be well made, but the hype exceeds the performance.

This light is by far the best desk lamp I’ve ever used or even seen. It’s light weight construction makes moving it around ultra easy and the weighted base makes it sturdy and stable. The double action bending arms along with the swiveling base and light head make it easy to use.

The touch switch with seven different brightness levels gives you the perfect light to do what ever you’re needing to see. The only thing about it I would change, is the switch should be back lit. Unless I have’t found it yet, this is the only thing to make it WORLDS BEST!! I’m slightly embarrassed as to how excited I am over a simple light.

But, I am! Don’t wait these things are fantastic.

This is a great, sturdy little lamp. I personally wish it was a little taller with a bit bigger lampshade but if you don’t have a lot of desk real estate, this lamp is perfect. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the base is–no tipping over! The goose neck is great too.

My previous lamp was similar but plastic and from the dollar store. The plastic shade had melted and cracked where the bulb housing met the shade so I’m happy to have found a metal lamp. The white metal is matte, which I love.

I used an a19 e26 led bulb (60W equivalent) for this (as pictured). It’s a bit too long so an a15 might have worked better aesthetically. Brightness really depends on the bulb but this was bright enough for me.

Overall, a great buy. Hopefully the simple, sturdy construction will last for a long time.

After searching for the right lamps. I decided on these based on some reviews but by dimensions and also price. Looking for lamps is not that easy, Especially after purchasing a lamp prior. They look just as described with an excellent base so the neck can be directed where needed without falling over.

That was my concern that the lamp would be flimsy, not at all. It is made of metal and not plastic. I put a larger bulb 60 watt, wow ultra bright. So, far so good.

I was replacing a similar gooseneck desk lamp that broke. My old lamp ate lightbulbs like crazy because it got so hot. This one works great, throws a lot of light for its size and does not get hot at all.

The only feature its missing that my old lamp had was storage on its base. I miss that. Otherwise a perfect replacement. It also has a small base footprint which is important because I have a relatively small desk.

This light works great, EXCEPT, when positioned for piano music, the base with the controls are BEHIND the music and so out of sight and hard to reach. I have often wished the flexible shaft was connected to the SIDE (narrow end) of the light so the base could be on the side of the music.

That design would make it SO much more useful. Even when used as a desk light, I still use it side ways as my computer monitor is where I would set this light, so I place it on the side of my desk, which puts the long dimension of the light going from front to back.

It would be much more useful with the longer light dimension going from side to side. The engineer who designed this must have had an empty desk that they just write or draw on. On an actual desk, side mount base would be much better in my opinion.

I would suggest offering the same light in both configurations giving the customer the choice to pick which design suited their configuration best.

After trying several lamps, I have found the one for me! I first ordered my husband the floor model lamp, and I enjoyed using it so much that I ordered the desk version. What a great lamp. Grading student essays late at night is made easier by this good light!.

The options for the kind of light I want and the strength makes for restful eyes. This is an attractive lamp and well designed. The panel in front shields my eyes from any direct glare, and I have found this feature to be as important as it is thoughtful.

Had the traditional two spotlight flood lamp over the garage of our house. Wasnt bad, but leaving it on all the time used a lot of electricity, and it would not turn itself off during the day time hours.

Decided to replace it, and began my search online at the normal big box retailers, as well as online shops. This particular model caught my attention, both for its price, but also for its features. Love the on at a low level, but goes to full power when motion is detected.

This mode can be turned off, but I love that there is some light at all times. Motion sensing is really good as well. Did not want it coming on every time a car drove by, and it does not. Simply does what is supposed to.

I mounted it under the eave, as that is where the old one was. It was a very straight forward install. You just make sure that the motion sensor is facing away from the house. Also, that part can be fully rotated so that the controls are on the bottom.

Middle light will only tilt to about 45 degrees in this position, but as you can see from the photos, it works great. The two outside spots can be swiveled any way you like. Ver versatile. Light output is impressive, but not too much.

Lights the driveway and front area of our house well, but should not bug the neighbors at all. Strikes a great balance there. Also looks really nice. Does not look cheap, and is not made of cheap materials.

Feels very sold, and the parts will not be moved by normal wind, etc. Very pleased with this unit.

I don’t write many reviews but so far, thing is amazing. Granted, I just put it up today, so time will tell BUT I’m impressed so far. Install took about 15 minutes, real simple. Nice and bright and throws enough light into my crazy deep back yard to see what my dogs are up to behind the garage.

(I had to hunt them down with a flashlight recently when they cornered a poor baby opossum. [They didn’t harm it, just cornered it. ]) The adjustable wings are helpful to throw a little light to the side of the garage as well.

The motion sensor seems perfect once I got it adjusted for my setup (took maybe 5 minutes of testing for level, range, and time). It’ll be sweet for post-bonfire cleanups too. I’m curious to see if it’ll last a few years or a few months.

I love that you can change the intensity of this solar powered motion detector light. You can make it dim all the time, and it goes to bright only when motion is detected, or you can let it be off and come on only when motion is detected.

You can choose the length of time the light stays on, too, from 20 seconds upwards in increments. This is all controlled from easy-to-discern buttons on the back of the unit. Super easy to install on your wall or wherever (I chose to place it on my rain gutter) with two screws, and the light slides up and off the mounting bracket easily if you want to change the settings, etc.

Another thing that impressed me is the movable “wing?lights. They adjust to just about any angle you could need.

Solid build quality and sleek design. “Dimming” feature is very nice and works well but it’s not really a continuous dimmer. There are 5 discrete light levels which make it quite usable but its not continuous.

The 5 warmth settings for light color is even nicer – varies widely from nice and warm to daylight. Wish it would articulate a bit – especially the swivel on the base. It only swivels on the base 45 degrees so if you need to swing it more than that, you’re going to need to rotate the whole lamp.

All in all though – a very nice lamp for the price.

1. Price – The price is very reasonable and lower than its competitors. 2. Brightness – This light is MUCH brighter than the old LED desk lamp that it replaced. The lowest setting is quite suitable for illuminating my keyboard and the highest setting allows me to see tiny details when using a magnifying glass.

I am quite pleased. 3. USB port – I have several devices that require usb charging and I no longer have to fumble around behind my desktop pc to plug them in. This is so convenient! 4. Durability – To be determined.

I bought 2 Halogen lamps in the early 2000’s that could move up or down from Staples at $40 apiece. Halogen was pretty much the standard of excellence in many consumer products that would always cost more.

You couldn’t go near the lights with your fingers lest ye be burned but good. Well, they burned out together like old birds, or something, after about 10 years. I used them every day working on computers.

I was heartbroken. This past Christmas my brother found this light, the electrician who tried to fix my old Halogens but it was just too hard. I knew when I took it out of the box that it was the one, like old birds, or something.

I told my brother it was the best light I’d ever had, and I’ve tried many. This light may make it to every household in America and abroad. No bull, it has become indispensable on my office desk and the other one I bought for computer building.

I can shape the neck in almost any way I need and that solves many lighting problems for me. Added bonuses: there shouldn’t be a need for touching the lights on the lamp, but if you do you will feel only a slight warmness that is proof of their efficiency.

I know longer need the ceiling lights at my office desk. I believe I will save the cost of the lamp I purchased in electricity savings in a short period of time. Oh, my brother then bought one for himself after hearing my thoughts about it.

He is in complete agreement about the warm essence but very bright light. Ah, I Can’t say enough these lights. Enjoy.

I was really excited to receive this light. I put it together following the simple instructions. The light color and brightness are great and the design itself is quite sleek. The rose gold looks copper in most light, but I’m not bothered by that.

Now the downside. The very big downside. The light will not stay where I put it unless that position happens to rest JUST so. The clamp works well, the gooseneck parts are almost stiff enough to hold an angle perfectly.

So good enough on both fronts. But the big problem is that the part where the gooseneck attaches to the clamp is supposedly held tight with a small screw. In my light, the screw spins freely and when you move the light around the screw bounces and wiggles, no matter how tightly I tighten the screw.

There appear to be no threads to hold it in place. I wrote to Dick Blick about it and after a couple of weeks, I’ve received no reply. I have the light propped up so that I can still work, but it’s incredible expensive lamp to require a Rube Goldberg solution.

I am unsatisfied to say the least.

flimsy. for such a long neck, the base is too small and not stable enough. All the color combinations for lighting is quite nice but seriously,,,how many will one use? The LED is very bright so I prefer the more subdued yellowish lighting.

The touch plate for switching lighting is nice and responsive. All in all, this would be a great lamp if the base were heavier and the neck not so long. It actually gets in the way.

I purchased this lamp to provide me light in a variety of scenarios: under my microscope to illuminate small samples for viewing, at my laptop (unlit keyboard) in low-light conditions, and at my desktop PC at night.

I’ve only had it for 24 hours and I’m already in love! Cool light, warm light, low light, bright light, angled, focused low, aimed high. this thing will light a small section of my desk or the entire room, depending on the settings and position.

I just got the product and it seems good so far. I cannot weigh in on long-term performance & quality since I’ve just had it one day. But it feels solidly built with strong hinges and a weighted base.

The multiple brightness levels and colors (white light vs yellow light) are a great feature. I’ve seen other similar lamps that have five or seven different yellow/white color settings while this lamp just has three: white, yellow, or a mix of both.

Honestly I think three choices are enough because it’s simpler and I don’t see myself wanting a-little-white-but-more-yellow, or almost-totally-white-but-a-splash-of-yellow, etc. Overall I like it.

I got this using my MC rewards and absolutely love it. It is perfect for our travel trailer. It folds up small and gives off great light. I totally appreciate the ability to change the tone of the lighting – I hate ultra floresent lighting.

This little lamp will let you choose ultra bright or several more warm, dimmer shades. Also, the charging plate works well for my new cell phone and makes it so there is one less cable to have laying around or to plug in.

This lamp is modern looking and properly weighted. The five light modes are great, as is the slide for turning the light up and down. The central column swivels right and left and bends forward and backward.

I wish it also bent right and left. The wireless charging platform is handy and the lamp does not require a lot of space. A great price too.
