Desert boots are a type of ankle-high boot that was originally designed for British soldiers serving in the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. The boots were created to offer a more comfortable and sturdy alternative to the standard-issue leather boots, which were often unsuitable for the harsh, sandy conditions of the desert.
Today, desert boots are a popular casual footwear option for men, and are often made from suede or leather.
Find an oasis of comfort and style with the classic Desert Boot for men. Inspired by the shoes worn by British officers in WWII, these flat lace-up ankle boots feature a soft, supple leather or suede upper that has nearly no break-in time.
Moccasin construction helps these boots conform to your foot for an individualized fit. The leather interior lining, shock-absorbing foam footbed, and genuine crepe outsole deliver all-day cushioning and comfort.
With over 65 years as a style icon, these versatile boots will add a timeless touch to any look. Soft leather or suede upper Lace-up front Moccasin construction Leather interior lining Foam footbed Genuine crepe outsole Timeless style.
The Clarks Originals Desert Boot has been the “classic” chukka boot design for seventy years. Most versions combine a suede upper with the natural crepe rubber sole. In recent years, the tough Beeswax leather version and dressy versions with glossy black and brown uppers have also become popular.
A key reason for their popularity is that Clark boots look good with a sport coat and slacks, with khaki pants at the office and with jeans. Sizing is tricky. Nordstrom staff are good at measuring your foot and getting you fitted properly.
If you normally wear a size 11 to size 14 in a non-Clark shoe, you probably need to go down one full size (such as from a size 12 down to a size 11). If you normally wear a size 8 to a size 10, go down a half size (from a 10 1/2 down to a 10).
The suede versions get a bit wider after a few weeks of wear, less so with the beeswax and smooth leather versions. The break in period takes a week or two until the heel counter and upper softens a bit.
Wearing them around the house with thicker socks for a few hours a day will loosen them up before you try wearing them all day. After they loosen up, they feel like slippers. By design, the Desert boot has a firm and flat insole.
After a couple of weeks that firmness will feel normal for most people. If you miss having a cushy insole, you can buy them at the corner drug store. To keep the suede versions looking good, buy a suede brush and brush them when dirty.
A pencil eraser will remove smudges. With ALL versions, put in a Nordstrom Cedar shoe tree as soon as you take them off and never wear the same pair two days in a row. Resting for a day on a shoe tree keeps the shoe looking great.
Bonus: the soft and flexible crepe rubber sole does not contain metal. You don’t need to take these off at the airport.
I recently purchased my second pair of Clark’s Desert Boots after the amazing experience of my first pair. These boots have lasted longer than any other shoes I’ve owned. I wore them daily for four years in a variety of contexts: at work, traveling, hiking, dress occasions, etc.
The more I wore the boots, the more comfortable they became. The shoes continued to break in and form to my feet, increasing their comfort as time wore on. The crepe sole isn’t the most durable sole.
On my first pair, I had the soles replaced after 2 1/2 years. Still, that’s a pretty good lifetime. All-in-all, I am looking forward to the next 4 years with my new pair of boots! (Review by the husband of seattlegirl6045, my wife does not wear mens boots.
I bought these boots in Beeswax for my boyfriend for Christmas and he has worn them every day since he opened them! He wears a size 9 in dress shoes, size 10 in tennis shoes. I got him the size 9 and they fit perfectly.
He commented that the M width initially felt snug, but after wearing them for some time he noticed that the leather relaxes and molds to his feet. These shoes are versatile enough to wear for multiple occasions- casual, business casual, dressy casual.
I recommend wearing with slim fit jeans/pants, but they also look good with boot cut and straight leg pants. The leather is high quality and the boot seems sturdy and durable. I’m sure when these wear out (hopefully not for several years) my boyfriend will be wanting another pair!.
Chasing desert sheep across the Cabeza Prieta Wilderness in Arizona calls for a boot that can take a full day of sharp, rock-filled, thorny terrain, allowing you to concentrate on what’s around you. Crafted for extreme abuse, these boots have no waterproof membrane, giving you extreme breathability and all-day comfort no matter how much ground you cover.
The outsole traction system and extra padding will make these your go-to long distance favorites. Made in Italy. Men’s sizes (whole & half) 8-12, (whole sizes) 13, 14, Medium width. Men’s Wide width 8-12, 13.
I already own a pair of hardscrabble’s that I love. The only thing I didn’t realize is that the hardscrabble’s have a waterproof membrane (that by the way makes the boots truly waterproof). That’s not so bad for occasional use or in situations where you need a truly waterproof boot.
But for everyday use, they absolutely wreaked havok with athlete’s foot because that membrane wouldn’t allow easy breathability. Upon learning this the hard way, I ordered a set of these desert guide’s which are essentially the same boot but without the waterproof membrane.
No more athlete’s foot! Same fit and dependability of the hardscrabble’s. I’m wearing these every day out in the fields farming. Most comfortable, tough, and dependable boot there is. At the end of the day, my feet don’t hurt like they used to with other brands of work boots.
Why else would I spend that kind of money a second time? Because its totally worth it!!!.
No matter what, to be a fantastic boot it needs to fit-for my foot, Kenetrek has nailed it! I bought a pair of the Desert Guide boots in a men’s 8. 5 M. The arch support is the best I’ve ever had in a boot, heel is stable without blistering, and ample toe room gives my foot/toes room to spread.
I bought the DG boot to use as a work boot and a hiking boot. Working conditions are cutting trees on hills and slopes so I can vouch for the boots stability and comfort on steep terrain. Hiking is back country in the Pacific NW and also gravel logging roads.
Clarks Bushacre3 – Mens 9 Tan Boot W Founded by the British Clark Bros. in the early 1820’s, Clarks footwear has been a step ahead of the game with their international renowned footwear. Manufactured in England, their casual shoes, outdoor boots, sandals and dress shoes are preferred by both men and woman that want a pair of shoes that are timeless, durable, stylish and most of all comfortable.
The broad selection of Clarks women’s shoes includes clogs, leather wedges, trendy heels, embellished mary jane dress shoes, comfortable flat leather sandals, trendy ankle boots and fashionable athletic sneakers.
For men, Clarks footwear offers leather oxfords, dress shoes, slip-ons and moccasins. Leather outdoor boots and sandals for every occasion. Clarks shoes also has an array of shoes for both boys and girls that are comfortable for the growing kid.
Difficult to tell from the pics, but the taupe shade is suede. The suede seems nice with a good nap. The new cushioning on these is much softer than the old Bushacre boot. Some cons are the white layer visible on the heel and the fit is off compared to old CDBs.
The opening around the ankle seems bigger and my foot slides around more and the toe box seems both more boxy/less sleek than previous DBs but doesn’t have as much room vertically for my toes. Overall, I’m happy with the buy, the price and the ease of in store pick up.
I ordered these boots first in my usual 8. 5 but I nearly walked right out of them! I returned those to my local store and ordered an 8, those were too tight in the toes, ugh! I ended up buying these at the store in an 8.
5 again and am satisfied that they will do. At the price they were offered I can live with them a bit on the large side. I took their insoles out and put in a pair I had with better arch support and they fit a bit better now.
I do really like the look of the light suede ones though!.
My husband loves these boots. First the are low, more like a shoe boot than a boot, but this is why they are so comfortable. They don’t make your feet too warm and are easy to get on and off. They look fantastic too! Dress them up a little with a jacket or shirt and tie or just with a good pair of jeans and a tshirt.
The color is warm and rich and the leather is so soft. This boots look and feel Gorgeous! Now the most important part, they are made so well. The sole is great quality and they stitching fantastic! I highly recommend this boots.
Not to surprising that Clark’s has made a great quality shoe.
Stylish and versatile, the original Desert Boot from Clarks launched in 1950 by Nathan Clark and was inspired by a rough boot from Cairo’s Old Bazaar. An instant hit, it became the footwear of choice for off-duty army officers.
Premium beeswax brown leather is teamed with an unfussy lace fastening and our signature crepe sole.
Many people believe these are an improvement over the original desert boot. The extra lacing and the thicker, wedge crepe sole make it generally more comfortable. Although there still is something to be said about the more thin, minimalistic silhouette of the original desert boot.
These are a little chunky. To be fair, although I wear these very often to my day job, I tracked down the limited-edition ones made in 2016, which have a thick leather footbed and seem higher quality, but I also have the black suede ones seen here.
They’re both very comfortable and have held up, at least for a year or so of wearing nearly every other day. Because these have a chunkier look than the original desert boot, I find them more causal leaning, maybe less able to be dressed up.
I’ve become a fan of natural materials for my shoes, since I’ve watched many cut-in-half and comparison videos, and these are unlined and use a full-grain suede, which makes them more breathable and potentially more durable than cheaper variations of chukka boots.
I have worn the Clark’s Original Desert Boots, usually the sand suede variety, since I was in high school in the ’60’s, and have always been a big fan of them. In recent years I have also purchased a couple pair of the Bushacre 2 beeswax boots for light work duty and lawn work because of the price and rubber sole and heel.
Since I’ve been aware of the Desert Boot 2 with its new rubber sole and heel I have been tempted to try a pair. With the Holiday sale I decided the time was right. I purchased the Desert Boot 2 Beeswax and could not be happier!! I have worn them around the house to break them in, and after just a little while they are already comfortable.
I absolutely love the new rubber sole and heel. The leather is strong and supple, and the sizing is exactly like the Original Desert Boot with the crepe soul. These are my new favorites and I will be purchasing more down the road as needed!!.
I’ve been wearing desert boots since I was a child. For more than 50 years hardly anything changed with the exception of the country in which are manufactured. I guess the evo stands for evolution and there’s a reason for it.
The old rubber sole was lovely but very slippery in the rain. I fell so many times over the years to the point that I stopped wearing them if rain was forecasted. Clarks re-marketed the iconic shoe so many times.
I think they still do the traditional one for the purists. This new version is great. The suede is softer, the inner sole padded and the sole is not as slippery as the natural rubber. They are also lighter than I remembered.
This is the version I love the most as it is comfortable and timeless.
Cultural cachet and design DNA: no shoe is quite like the Clarks Originals Desert Boot. Nathan Clark’s 1950 design was inspired by a rough boot from Cairo’s Old Bazaar, and its minimal, progressive style sparked a worldwide footwear revolution – worn by beatniks, mods, Britpop bands, and Jamaican rude boys, from Paris to Kingston, Tokyo to London.
Every design detail today remains true to that first pioneering pair – here, the boot’s crafted, clean lines are enhanced with premium beeswax leather, finished with an unfussy lace fastening. The authentic, sustainably sourced crepe sole completes this distinctive silhouette.
Instantly recognizable, forever iconic. A true original.
Unlike purchases in the past, these boots are of poorer quality and $20 more expensive. The leather from toe to tongue is thinner and lest robust The bees-wax finish no longer has that ‘hand worked’ look.
The new shoe laces seem non-cotton — and their color is less attractive than previous versions using the mid-taupe shade. And, the shape of the shoe has changed; it appears these cheaply made shoe no longer use the same shoe forms.
The shoe no looks like competitors which are priced at $80/pair. A disappointing purchase. This shoe no longer belongs in the premier ‘Originals’ classification.
Due a replacement as my previous pair were beyond repair. I was able to recycle them at Clark’s which was great to do. The new pair fits just as my previous pair did. Once again they look great, are well made and comfortable.
New pair came with an extra pair of laces and the default laces have metal tips which is a nice upgrade. Can’t fault these classics.
I bought these shoes specifically for the look of their durability and quality. Come to find out these boots only last me a couple of months before the sole starts to come apart. I buy a new pair each time and they still can’t hold up to the amount of work I do.
I’m a farmer and I am in the field each day, I ride a motorbike everywhere I go and I really admire these shoes for the comfort ability they provide but I just need them to last me more than a year. I thought they would last me more than a year since they are made of leather and appear to have good stitching, also the price on them is not massively expensive.
I’m trying to find the right boot to get me through a farming season without having to glue them back together again.
The boots are great, but I damaged the leather inside of one of them trying to remove the big, sticky, segmented Nordstrom sticker you put inside each of them! Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the giant sticker (which is a huge pain to remove from inside) on the BOTTOM of the shoe?.
The boots were purchased for my son. I ordered a size 12 but they are too large and too wide. My son has very narrow feet and he has a very difficult time finding narrow shoes. He will wear thick socks to wear.

Clarks women’s desert boots have been a stable shoe for me over the last 5years. When my first pair bottom sole stitching got loose, it was time to buy a new pair. They don’t carry the women’s Chukka anymore which the closest thing was their Desert Boot.
The sizing appears different a normal 7 fits like a size 6 or 6. 5. I’m returning my size 7 to get a size 7. 5 or 8. It is tight around the toe box, but that can be worked out with a shoe stretche, but the toe to heel length can only be stretched out to a certain length.
Will try the next size up. Weird the laces that came with the desert boot was purple when the picture show it brown. Not sure how that happened? The cushioned sole is a nice perk!.
The SeaVees Maslon Desert Boot is a mid-cut sneaker featuring uppers made from soft leather with a lace-up design. Breathable canvas lining and cushioned footbed for all-day wear. Signature herringbone rubber outsole design offers maximum slip resistance.

Bought for a 2 week vacation in Italy and wore about 8 days. We traveled to many cities and I walked many miles in them, even hiked up a mountain in Sicily. I really put them to the test. They are comfortable and I like the way they look.
The distressed leather gives them a rugged feel and the grayish-white rubber going around the shoe is a nice touch. They feel substantial and I was even worried they would be too heavy but they were comfortable to walk in.
Toward the end of the trip, the rubber detached from the leather in the area where the shoe flexes in the left forefoot of the shoe. Not ideal but understandable given the amount of walking I did, at times off-road on dirt paths covered with stones.
I loved the look of this shoe since I saw it online and then when it arrived, it’s just beautiful, period. After wearing them for a couple of weeks, the enchantment faded away, my feet are unusually sweaty in them, and they lack a little bit of cushioning, not very ideal for anything but look good; walk with them for 30 minutes and you’ll regret it, don’t even think of trying to skateboard, your knees will let you know! Also, it’s surprising how much humidity they keep inside and at the same time, how much water they allow IN.
A light rain left my feet absolutely drenched. I love and hate the shoe, it’s beautiful but not practical at all, I have to wear them only when I know I’m not gonna walk too much (almost never in New York), not gonna ride a bike, with copious amount of foot powder and without the slightest chance of rain in the forecast.
If my name was Steve, I was 52 years old, wore a braided leather belt, tried to keep up with the latest lingo (but was three years behind), wore woven leather sketchers sandals at summer cookouts, and always tucked in my golf shirts.
these would be the perfect fall sneaker. The transition from pleated shorts and sketchers sandals to pleated khakis and these shoes would be perfect. Unfortunately, that’s not me. Too bad. The maslon boot is great in other color/material combinations, but a swing and a miss in leather.

Very comfy, especially if you’re on you feet for long periods. With regard sizing I would recommend getting measured first so for me I’m normally a 10. 5, ordered the 10- fit like a dream 👌 Greta service from JL as always.

Make a statement with the Corn Stalk by Rustic Asphalt. A classic two eye chukka suede silhouette features a contrast color stripe on the outsole and a padded insole. Comes with your choice of two lace colors to fit your personal style.
I bought these as a versatile shoe for my fiance to wear, that wasn’t a sneaker. He really likes the look of them but they do fit a little narrow (he thinks they will widen as he breaks them in). He is usually a 10.
5 in size and went with the 10 on this shoe. He said the length is good and doesn’t think that sizing up would help with the width.
I bought this a few months ago on clearance. For the price I am extremely satisfied. It fits snugly with my feet (I usually wear wide shoes but this did not feel tight at all) and is easy to work an outfit around.
Only complaint is that I need to tie it pretty tight, which is a non-issue for me.
Attractive, causal shoe which I was looking forward to wearing. However, the shoe width is narrow and, makes for a tight fit. Probably will be a comfortable shoe to wear, if one’s feet are narrow- medium (C-D) width.
The Desert Boots from Clarks Originals offer versatility and style, a great addition to your boots collection. With a simple and clean design, these lace-up ankle boots will compliment any look this season.

Made of rugged water-resistant leather, these desert boots combine the toughness of work boots with the comfort and flexibility of your favorite pair of sneakers. Order regular shoe size. Size 12 1/2 wearers, please order size 13.
High-quality leather lining for smooth support. VertiGrip rubber grooved outsole for dependable traction. Leather-lined memory foam insole for all-day step-in comfort. EVA cushioning in the midsole for extra comfort.
Double-stitched full-grain leather upper is super soft and lightweight. Imported.
These are comfortable shoes. I’ve found that having boots with flat soles like these is better for reducing lower back pain compared to boots with uneven soles. I could do without the LL Bean name on them.
seems a little silly, but it’s not too visible. Overall I’m very satisfied.
I bought these shoes because I was looking for a rugged shoe, and they were in my size and on sale. They have stiff sides which come up to my ankle which I thought would limber up some with wear, but after walking in them several times, I found they cut into my ankle.
I purchased these for my son-in-law. He needed a pair of functional, as well as, comfortable work shoes. THESE FIT THE BILL!!! He was most impressed with how these boots kept his feet fresh and dry while on his IT service routes each day.
From the ground up, the 8″ Fast-Tac Desert is built for ultimate comfort, toughness and lasting durability. Whether duty sends you out to pound the concrete, calls you outside on patrol, or schedules you for weekend training the Speed all terrain cup outsole provides traction in any environment.
The Ortholite footbed helps to cushion those hard working dogs, and the 8” height wraps your ankles in extra support.
The insulation makes the boot warm, and I didn’t have to break it in as it was very comfortable to wear right out of the box. However, I bought it for being outside in a Minnesota winter, and I’m not sure the boots would be good for a Texas winter – at around 30°F, the rubber on the soles really hardens up.
So much so, they lose all flexibility and have nearly zero grip on even dry pavement. It’s really disappointing as it feels like a well made boot, but they must just have skipped over quality checking the soles.
It is too warm for anything over 35°, so the insulation is warm, but that leaves about a 5° range where the boot can actually be worn.
I’m not sure if it’s just my feet based off the previous reviews, but these boots are just not comfortable. I bought these to replace my $80 Bates boots that I wore for 3 years. The only reason I wanted to replace those old boots is because they’re starting to stink lol.
I’ve only been wearing these boots for about 2 weeks now, I work 8 hours shifts 6 days a week; mostly up and about on my feet. These boots are just not wearing in well unfortunately, they causing my feet to blister.
I’m almost tempted to throw my old stinky boots on again until I can find another comfortable pair. Might have to drop a little more money I suppose.
No breakin. Dry and comfortable. Stood in mud, rain, puddles and on cold concrete for 8h and no leaks! Perfect for my purposes. The boot gives good support without being too rigid. I have skinny ankles but I was still able to lace the bolt up properly.
I usually wear a Men’s 11. 5 Nike sneaker, and size 12 was perfect for me – I like to wear thick wool socks in boots.
The Clark’s Men Desert Boot was born in the sands of North Africa, worn by the British forces during the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. That means it’s a venerable 70 years old, but for some reason it’s not showing its age.
That’s because timeless design and relaxed comfort never go out of style.
Hari Mari boot made with Nokona baseball glove leather. Water-resistant upper. Flat heel; round toe. Two-eye lace-up vamp. Dual-density foam footbed. Adobe Desert is made in USA.
Not what was expected. The leather seemed thin and not true to Nokona tradition. Overall shoe felt light, too light, presenting a cheap feel. I will say though the insole was comfortable. Just not the shoe for me.
I have been wearing these boots for 4 days now and have not been able to break them in. They look great and I love the feel of the leather but they are not comfortable at all. They run small. I am a size 8.
5 however always go a half size up to ensure a comfortable fit and ordered a 9. I now have blisters on both heels that have bled into the heel of the boots. I wrote Hari Mari and requested an even exchange for a size 9.
5 to see if that would help but they would only accept a return if the shoes could be resold, which they cannot. I am extremely disappointed with my purchase and Hari Mari for not standing behind their products.
I love these boots. Yes, the price is a bit high, but these have to be some of the lightest, most comfortable boots I have worn. The soft Nokona leather really makes these boots something special. Too bad they seem like only a yearly limited release though, as I would sure like to snag another pair!.

The Adobe Desert Boots offer ultimate style and comfort with premium suede and performance lining that hug your feet close to the dual-density memory foam soles. Arch support, crepe rubber outsoles, and durable leather laces ensure they last multiple seasons.
The southwestern patterned lining adds some extra style.
These boots look great and I’ve already received compliments on them. They had a wonderful leather smell out of the box and two sets of laces. They’re really great looking and have comfortable support like their sandals.
The only thing is that they were tight on the front top but I got better after a few times wearing them. I’m sure they will be very comfortable once broken in. Overall, these are very nice and are high quality.
Second pair of these I bought so I’d have a different color than the tobacco I bought over a year ago. Love both pairs. Can’t find better boots for the price when they are on sale. Much better comfort and style over Clark’s or other similar options that are more pricey.
I haven’t worn ‘Desert Boots’ in a very, very long time, but when I came across these online I decided to dive back in, and I’m glad I did! They arrived quickly, look great, and were as comfortable ‘right out of the box’ as any perfectly ‘worn in’ pair of shoes I’ve ever owned.
