20 Best Deployment Bag With Wheels (2023 Updated)

Love the wheels. Moves very lightly, I bought two one for storage the other to travel. BIG enough for weeks hunting gear. Incredible capacity for everything. Tough exterior. Answer to my needs.

Bought this for a cruise and it was perfect. It fits the dimensions of the cruise lines and held everything I needed and more. I used packing cubes for my clothing, etc. in case it burst open, but it was fine.

The wheels and handles are great for the short distance I have to “carry” it, however you give your bag immediately upon arrival to a porter to embark (and disembark), so it’s not a problem. Just don’t overpack it so much you can’t carry it to the car.

I wouldn’t use this to fly, just ground trips and cruises within driving distance.

I’m relocating and placing my items temporarily in a storage facility, so I was in need of breathable and rolling storage solutions for my winter clothes and shoes. As a veteran, I purchased two of these in the original cammy green color, which arrived in the colors expected.

These are very spacious, and so far, the rollers and handle works well. However, because it is so large, it gets heavy pretty fast. Thankfully, I’m not using these for travel, and I wouldn’t recommend them for air travel since they would be considered oversized when packed full.

They are probably great for storing extra bedding and other linens, in addition to seasonal clothing items. I would only recommend these for storage solutions or travel on a vehicle or on trains, if they allow large luggage.

If they had these in black, I would have probably purchased them in that color as well. Apart from my explanations above, another reason why I only gave this product three stars is because it does not stand upright, which means its sides or bottoms can get dirty.

I had to purchase a separate large, plastic rolling bin to hopefully fit two of these inside, so as to keep them standing up and protected from the dirty floor most often found in storage facilities.

We needed a large bag to hold 2-piece travel type fishing rods for a fishing trip. Served it’s purpose. If you need a large, inexpensive bag this will do the trick. It did roll surprisingly well with 49 lbs of stuff inside, and the handle seems strong enough.

But the material construction is thin and flimsy. This is not, in my opinion, quality luggage to last a lifetime. I would not expect this bag to last very long if used regularly. Again, this bag was not very expensive, so I am giving it 3 stars.

Cute pattern, fabric feels durable but will not work for the reason why I bought it. A week long outdoor education trip. It’s a little heavy for my girls to carry on grass, stairs, dirt, etc. I know the wheels & handle’s weight doesn’t seem heavy but for a little kid it will make a difference when it’s packed.

I’d keep it if they could use it as a roller the entire time. We didn’t use it but while testing the wheels & handle it rolled smoothly in our floor. It did have a plastic smell and it’s been sitting out for about a week in the garage unzipped & it still has the smell.

You’d probably have to wipe it down with something or maybe try putting a dryer sheet in it. Pockets look small but the top zippered pocket actually is deeper that passes behind the bottom pocket & the bottom zipper is a shorter pocket.

Also, it doesn’t stand up like a luggage. it is meant to be put down like a duffle bag.

I’ve been wanting a replacement for my used-to-broken one of another version and was happy I caught a sale! However, upon arrival mine was damaged on the inside upon inspection while the gift one was fine.

I filled out the fix issue form and everything was easy to fix. I got the replacement and it is definitely better than the damaged one I received. Make sure to thoroughly check the inside. I can’t wait to finally be able to use a duffle and not suitcase for a short trip.

Missed this style bag (my used-to-broken was same brand). The length looks the same, but the height of the bag is definitely higher than the one I had. I think/hope as long as I don’t stuff to brim, it should be okay going on flights as it’s still 22″.

This is a nice bag for light loads. But you absolutely cannot over fill it or force the zipper. This back was stuffed for a trip , and the seem busted when we went to lift it. It seems better suited for light sports gear or clothing.

They size is deceiving – it fits A Lot, but it cannot hold the weight and pressure of what it is capable of holding. I would not recommend it.

I needed a good sturdy bag that would be a good size with good sturdy wheels. I decided to look for a bag with very “large” sized wheels. The reason now, as to why I look for large wheels is due to minimizing the wear and tear that happens with the wheels depending on their size and make, as well as extend it’s use as long as possible.

This bag is a good size. Plenty of room. You can fit quite a bit of things in it. It runs almost as big as a “hockey” sized bag. A nice set of very large wheels. It has 4 zipper type pockets. A shoulder strap, handles, straps with clasps to secure and a zippered compartment for the handle.

The material is good. It’s not super durable. I bought this bag 2 weeks ago. It arrived just in time for me to transfer the stuff I usually bring to my mother’s for a few days from my old bag to this one.

Last Friday, I tossed it into the cab and was off. By the time I got where I was going and started unpacking, I noticed small “burn” tears. And THIS was EXACTLY what was bugging me on whether I should send the bag back and look for something else or keep it.

The issue I have with this bag is that it does not have any “stoppers”. Basically they are little “round” feet made into some duffle bags allowing them to stand. They also serves as some type of protection.

Without them the area is exposed more to the ground. And should you ever end up dragging the bag unintentionally, there is nothing to stop the bottom from being torn from friction. The bag itself is more designed to be set down the long way as it has a rest to protect the bottom and raise it a bit off the ground.

You lie it down and you pick it up and roll it using the handle. If this bag had those little round “rests” on on the side, like other rolling duffle bags, this would not have happened. I have owned such a rolling duffle that had “stoppers” on the side.

That bag lasted for well over 10 years. Over time the bottom started getting tears. However if it wasn’t for the “stoppers” it would’ve happened faster. That bag was also a similar type like the one I’m reviewing.

So already this bag is damaged due to something that happened that I was unaware of. Now I’m going to have to look for something else and retire this bag for moving clothes. Rockland, you could do better with this bag.

It’s not a bad bag but you could’ve prevented this. Pros: Good large size. Lots of room. Nice large and sturdy wheels (The wheels are the best part of what I was looking for). Cons: No stoppers on the side of the bag for protection (Because sitting one area of the bag on the ground is not going to to destroy what you paid for over time).

Bought these in three different colors/styles for my three older girls, and they love them. Very easy to pack, and unpack. Easy to roll around, easy to see what’s inside when packed. Lots of great pockets and not too heavy.

They can be folded/ collapsed down for easy storage. We used them on family vacation for three years in a row on car trips, and hotels. They held up surprisingly well for the price paid. We plan on using them again for vacation this summer.

The construction is sturdy with reinforced stitching and piping on all the corners. They don’t do well standing on their own unless you have fully and evenly packed all four corners of the bag. The zipper pulls are large, and the zippers have large teeth.

We have packed these to bulging, an have never had a zipper rip or bust on us, nor a handle, nor a carry strap, nor a wheel. There is a shoulder strap, two handheld straps, and a end-of-bag strap. Giving you multiple carry options.

The wheels are clear, large, and durable with treads. The handle can be compressed down into the bag, and zipped closed to be carried as a regular duffle. I’m 5’4″ and the handle when fully extended comes to above my waist.

The material is an vinyl-type and seems to be water resistant. These are perfect for my 10, 9,and 4 year olds to pull themselves. I can imagine if you had to stay somewhere longer than a couple weeks, these would probably not be big enough for you.

The colors are bright, and true to the photos shown. The size looks like 24″ long unpacked. I have checked out all the other bags and prices and reviews on Amazon, and Walmart. com, and this one is the best value for the size.

I also love that there are so many prints to choose from.

I’ve purchased (serially) two of these rolling duffels. Although the are very attractive looking, they absolutely are not durable. Certainly don’t consider them for check luggage. I’m sure they may be good for gentle use.

But if your going to fill them and thrown them in and out of trunk. don’t bother. On my first one the upper and lower zipper both broke and I couldn’t get them started/rethreaded. Also the fabric tore in two places with “typical use”.

I reasoned that perhaps I put too much clothing in it—and I assumed the responsibility. As such, I purchased another one at Walmart and treated it much more gently. Son-of-a-gun—same issues with torn fabric and another broken zipper that I couldn’t fix.

Also after two weeks of use—the retractable handle would not fully retract. Buyer beware! No three strikes ans your out for me.

This duffle has no shape when empty/or full. It’s a nightmare to try to fill the duffle with clothes while both sides and both ends are trying to collapse onto the bottom baseboard. One must fold clothes to the precise width of the baseboard and stack the clothes carefully.

The slightest misstep and your clothes slip off to the side of the baseboard making it near impossible to zip the bag closed. The zippers could use a good waxing to make them operate more smoothly. At the end of the day I still, sort of, like the duffle.

Its handles are handy. It’s wheels could be bigger BUT, so far, they get the job done. I just wish the duffle had a clearly defined shape that it would keep while I’m trying to load/unload it.

This is a great large sized duffle. It is not real heavy yet it is very durable and has wheels and extending pull bar. Many pockets makes it great for packing different items. I purchased it to carry some of our bands equipment such as 2 small amps, some bulky percussion instruments, our tip jar, etc.

Bag did not quite meet my expectations. It is adequate in terms of size but not rugged enough to withstand stress. I packed stuff in it to travel, just a little under 50lbs weight allowed by international airlines and I lifted the bag by the strap, it just snapped.

That is within 24 hours of receiving the bag and being put to use for the first time. I had no alternative bag and had to convey my stuff in the bag without a handle. It was really inconvenient. I can’t return the bag because I traveled out of the country and won’t return for about six months to one year, when the limited warranty or return period would have lapsed.

Also I also noticed that the same bag but in another caller was sold at $10. 00 cheaper in the same Walmart. I am really disappointed and dissatisfied with the purchase. It is not value for money.

I bought this for my husband who has to travel occasionally. He hasn’t used it yet. I chose it for all the extra pockets so he can keep his things organized. And the main compartment is very roomy. The handle on top can be completely put away.

The wheels make it nice to move. It seems to made very well and sturdy.

The handle is a bit flimsy and the velcro handle for the straps were not included as pictured. I immediately returned it.

This bag is well made and organized with all the pockets. I used it on a cruise as soon as it arrived and it survived the long lines and many miles it rolled through the boarding terminals. It was very easy to maneuver.

Overall a pretty good bag. Bought 2 of these fairly last minute for a move from the US to S. Korea for a year based on reviews and price. One held up perfectly, the second, the velcro handle piece broke, but otherwise no hindrance on ability to maneuver.

Bags have been scuffed and fabric worn thin already, but held up. Wheels are good, and if packed right, they will roll and even stay upright just fine. Can be a little tipsy if packed wrong. For price, overall very good.

I bought this item for my husband as a Valentines gift that he could use as a work bag. It’s very spacious, which we liked and seemed to be perfect for his overnight travels. Unfortunately after 2 weeks of use the zipper has started to tear away from the bag.

This duffle bag is just what I wanted for a weekend trip. I can pack everything into this bag, including a couple pairs of shoes. The wheels are sturdy. I thought it would have been larger though. I will use it because it is well-constructed and easy to handle.

This was bought because of trip restrictions. We were allowed only two wheels and no hard sides. (And by hard i mean no structure at all, as in duffel. ). Otherwise we would have bought a real soft sided suitcase which would be much easier to transport.

To compensate, we packed a backpack with a metal back at the bottom which gave it structure and made it feel like a real suitcase. Without that hard insert, it was much harder to transport but luckily we never had to take it more than 20 feet that way.

Be aware a saggy bottom makes it shorter. Tough, practical bag for lugging your stuff. Not a “duffle bag” with a metal frame that gets bent or corners that tear. It’s a bag that folds up into the smaller tote, but it does have really nice large wheels and a hard protective bottom where the wheels are.

The rest is flexible material. With restrictions on airline luggage at 50 pounds, why carry something that weighs 12 pounds empty? Heavy duty zippers and straps.

Love these duffels, my husband and I each have one. Perfect for camping and road trips. Durable enough to stand up to the abuse of being checked luggage, squishy enough to be jammed into small spots.

Deceptively large with three compartments plus the cavernous main storage area. I use the other compartments for dirty laundry, toiletries, and shoes. Only downside is that it really isn’t going to stay standing upright when fully packed, if that’s a concern.

I read all of the reviews just now after receiving this duffle because I wanted to see if they were as disappointed as I was. right away I noticed there is a zipper running the length of the bottom in the middle–which others had mentioned that the bag did not represent what was depicted when they boought it–WITHOUT A ZIPPER PULL.

I have used this underside as places to store so it’s no big deal to me, but for others who were expecting more, not cool–especially since there was clearly a manufacturing QC issue and that is why these are probably ‘the deal of the day’.

also, I bought this primarily for the wet end cap separator. the bag had the touch rubberized membrane on the outer walls but the inner lining is what separates this side pocket from the main bag and it does NOT seem like a viable water barrier.

so this end cap does not seem to be water tight at all. but like ya’ll. waiting for 2026 when I am 90 and can travel to some distant puddles to wade around in! let’s not stop dreaming!.

Very roomy bag that holds a great deal. Sturdy but lightweight so you’re not using a lot of your baggage weight allowance on the bag! The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is that it needs a bit of a redesign on the bottom end when standing up so that it doesn’t tip over when full.

A small “stabilizer bar” would probably do the trick. That being said, I would still buy the bag again without it.

Bought this for my husband since he works out of town and has gone through three bags in three years. We came upon this while doing a google search. I could fit in this bag and I am 5’3. This holds 30 days worth of clothes, utilities, and work boots, along with safety gear.

It has stair climber wheels and the detachable front bag can easily be stored inside the bag and locked when traveling through the airport. This is a heavy duty bag. Those in the army, pipeline, rail line, and all the other tough jobs that require travel should invest in this bag.

Also this was the lowest price point that we found.

I recently brought this bag on a trip to Europe and loved the 2 different compartments which helped me stay very organized during my travels. On past trips I could barely zip my old bag shut or find anything in it but this bag was extremely spacious and I always knew where everything was.

The external top zipper is a great feature as well for additional easy access to the top compartment. During my travels this bag was exposed to various weather conditions and everything inside stayed dry.

Very impressed with the durability. Easy to transport on wheels through the airport but the compression straps always made the bag size feel convenient and easy to carry when needed. Looking forward to many more trips with this luggage!.

As a serious hobbyist nature photographer I need a wheeled duffel that can store both clothing and gear (excluding my cameras). I had an older Mountainsmith duffel with a zippered bottom compartment that served me well but finally succumbed to the airline luggage environment.

This Thule two piece duffel is an excellent replacement. Having the ability to remove the top completely is a game changer. It gives me the ability to rummage through both pieces side by side as I prep for the days adventure.

The handle is well designed and the empty weight allows me to add a few more pieces of gear without going over weight limits. Now if Thule would make one with a 32 Inch length, my larger tripod would be able to come along on trips.

I received this in FIVE DAYS! EXCELLENT! This is a perfect size. not too small or too big. It is being used as an Emergency Bag for one of my patients that I serve, a Viet Nam Vet for when he has to go to hospital.

The wheels do well on the carpet. I am not sure that it will hold up using it as an everyday item. The outside material is a thicker material but the inside lining I am not sure will last with heavy use.

It does not stay up when packing, sides keep falling down so that is a nuisance. I was going to get one for myself for ER’s, but for that reason will not. It will be good enough for my client and a keeper for that reason.

I bought this bag because I needed something immediately for a trip. Not only did it come EARLIER than expected, but the bag was also more spacious then I expected. The pattern looks kind of obnoxious in the pictures, but in person it’s honestly not bad at all! My only issue is that it tipped over A LOT while I was using it.

So very well made, it fit 1 week of clothes for me, and I am 5. 9 and 165 lb, so not small. I placed my clothes in 5 gallon zip lock bags, squeezed all the air out before closing those and it makes nice flat little packages.

I was able to fit a lot. The pockets outside expand also and make organizing it a breeze. Plus with the wheels it is so easy to maneuver around. I had to take a bus from the airport, Bag fit perfect into the overhead bin, after arriving in Providence I walked about 2 miles with the bag, it was super easy.

Then when I boarded the boat I was going to be on, the bag collapses and fit in a drawer. This is the best bag ever :).

I adore the Old School canvas vibe of these rolling duffle bags. I have packed 4 days worth of clothing and shoes so far for my road trip and the bag still has tons of space left for everything else I will be taking.

I purchased the navy blue bag and the black bag. I must mention that I own numerous hard side rolling pieces of luggage and those fancy little numbers just don’t put a smile on my face like these canvas bags with such Welcomed Vintage Appeal do.

I bought five of these for my family when they were onsale for just under thirty bucks. Current price 5x that, and I don’t think they’re worth that. They are great because they are carry-on size but carry a lot.

Rolling works well. The pockets are quite small and don’t really add much utility beyond slipping some documents or receipts inside. The inside dimensions are about 10″ square by 22″, which is awkward for common packing cubes, so if you’re a cubes fan, keep looking.

I do my best to write honest reviews, which can at times be hard when it’s one of your favorite gear and apparel companies and the gear misses the mark for you. I have been using the Black Hole 100L wheeled bag for I think three years now.

I think I can give a considered review at this time. I have only used this bag for domestic air travel with Delta and American and will limit my comments to domestic travel. I am an adventurous traveler from start to finish.

I have put this bag through it’s paces and have been very pleased with it’s performance. I fly out of Minneapolis St. Paul International (MSP) via the Fridley Station Light Rail park and ride. I park free for 7 nights here(sometimes 9).

Every time, I park my car and wheel the bag over 100 yards of concrete lot, curbs and a bit of cobblestone across the street over another curb and across some grass to the 52A bus stop. I drag the bag onto the bus and ride the one stop to the Minneapolis metro rail blue line.

I drag the bag off the bus across the concrete sidewalk and cobblestones of the rail station. Wheel it onto the train, wheel it off the train across the platform and up two escalators and thru the airport.

Baggage handlers then throw it around like 800lb gorillas and I pick it up in baggage claim. The adventure does not end here if I don’t rent my car at the airport. Lets say I’m flying into Seattle where the rental car prices are jacked up so the city can pay for new stadiums and such.

In this case I wheel the bag from baggage claim thru the airport and across the flyway bridge and onto Seattle light rail. Up to North Seattle and wheel it off the train, across the platform and up two escalators and out onto the street.

Two more blocks of concrete and curbs to the Alamo location. On one trip i arrived at the rail station park and ride just as the heavens opened up. The100yrd. walk to the bus stop was like walking under a waterfall with inch deep puddles in the lot.

My Lowe Pro canvas camera bag was soaked thru. Good thing my camera and electronics were in a two gallon zip locs. The Black Hole bag had some wetness inside, but actually held up well in the 20min. deluge it took.

Way better than the canvas Lowe Pro bag. I have done this with the Black Hole 100L many times all around the country. The wheels have been rock steady, no discernable damage other than scratches. I have been waiting for the wheels to fail.

they have not. The bag it’s self has no tares or rips, only some pretty light scratches on the rear plastic rails. The telescoping handle still solid. The YKK zippers and track. good to go. Never a problem with bag size and the airlines.

My experience with the 100L wheeled bag has been so good that I purchased the 55L duffel(non-wheeled) and the 70L(non-wheeled) along with the MLC Black Hole. That’s it. I say buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

I bought 2 120L rolling duffel bags in the paintbrush colour earlier this year. Amazing colour to spot them amongst the sea of luggage at the airport. This rolling duffel handled all of our clothes for 15 days, hiking, water sports and electronic gear amazingly from our vacation in Kauai this month.

The 120L is cavernous! I had to be extremely mindful of exceeding the airline’s 50lb weight limit. Apart from grease and dirt from airline handling, the rolling duffel was unscathed. Handles and wheels were undamaged.

If you want a spacious luggage that offers flexible sidewalls that can accommodate odd sized objects and tons of gear, this is one to consider. You have one massive compartment, so it’s up to you to pack as needed.

But if you want compartments to separate your shoes and other items, there are a buffet of other choices. I have TNF duffels and TNF rolling duffels as well. The Patagonia Black Hole is lighter, but less structured as the TNF rolling duffel.

I find the frame and hard edges on the TNF rolling duffel a bit more restrictive in terms of my packing. So depending on your preference, you’ll need to choose based on your need. But from my experience the 120L rolling duffel did exactly what I bought for.

to withstand airline handling, carry/contain my gear safely, and do it with style/simplicity. My only suggestion was to have a way to tighten the exterior handle straps to minimize the chances of them getting caught as it travels through airport conveyors.

I’ve always been a big fan of the wheeled Black Hole. In fact, I’m on my third iteration of the bag over a period of at least 15 years if not more (not sure exactly when I got my first one). In general this bag is durable, big, and can easily be overloaded past the 50lb airport limit, so it’s nice to have the wheels.

I’ve dragged these things all over the world, including some extremely remote areas where you might not think of bringing a wheeled bag. For example in and out of bushplanes in the Arctic circle, where your moving from plane, to skiff, to dragging your gear to remote campsite.

Trust me – the wheels are handy even in this scenario, going over cobblestone and down dirt trials. The latest model of this bag has some noteworthy changes, some good, some (at least for me) not as good a previous models.

The good: 1. A fair bit lighter weight than previous models 2. The waterproof fabric is a bonus over earlier models, both to shed water and styling-wise. I like it. 3. The compression straps, previously on the exterior have been moved inside.

Not sure how that works in practicality when you’re trying to compress a lot of loose items inside the bag, but I do like the cleaner exterior by not having to have the straps get snagged on stuff. The not as good: 1.

Main thing missing on this new one for me is the separate dirty shoe zippered compartment that was found at the top of the bag. Who goes anywhere without multiple shoes? For sure it was nice to be able to throw them in there, separate from all your clothing.

Patagonia please bring this back! 2. Parts of this duffel are not as well made and perhaps as durable as previous models. Mine is still new-ish so remains to be seen. But in particular the whole molded undercarriage seems not as bombproof, the wheels are just the hollow plastic kind ( but lighter weight) than the old ones which were nice roller-blade wheels with sealed bearings.

3. There used to be a collapsible rigid flap that held up the bottom of the duffel, which now in the new model, is no longer collapsible. So no more storing it under the bed – bummer! If you’ve never had one of these, I’m sure you’ll like this wheeled duffel.

The telescoping handle seems sturdy and able to withstand years of abuse. Like any product line, some changes are for the better, some for the worse, but all-in-all probably can’t find a better all around travel bag.

Love that this bag is lightweight and tough. I’ve taken it on 4 international trips so far and it’s still going strong. The little plastic foot that helps hold the bag upright got ripped off on the first trip.

I covered up the holes with duct tape and we’re still rolling. I like the hard plastic skids on the back, really helps keep the back of the bag intact. Travelling is hard on luggage and I’m not willing to pay $300 for a bag that will only last a few trips.

Even if this bag only lasts one more trip, I’ll feel like I totally got my moneys worth. I don’t use the little side pockets much, but they are handy from time to time.

Light weight, sturdily built, big enough to carry all of my gym needs with room to spare! Several years ago I bought an older version of this bag. It finally needed replacing so I ordered this newer version.

I found that the newer version is even better built than the original version I bought. Thicker fabric, better zippers, and sturdier handle.

Initially, I was happy when the item arrived for my son who is in the military and therefore travels a lot. It seems well constructed. Our trip to drop him at the airport proved otherwise. Immediately we noticed the duffle tips over when trying to roll it through the airport.

Every single turn or maneuver made causes the duffle to topple to one side or the other. It was such a pain!.

Absolutely incredible bag. The built in garment compartment at the bottom is an incredible feature and there is plenty of room at the top to hold all my other uniform items and some personal clothes.

Will make official travel easier. Another unique feature that I love are the two handles on top to make lifting the filled bag easier. Didn’t even consider that when buying and it’s now become a must have.

The overall quality is amazing and even the minor details seen in the zippers, inside frame, and modular build is just great. Improvement Suggestions 1. Some military services have multiple dress uniforms.

I have 2 sets in the Army and the underside garment section is a bit shallow. Another inch would make the difference. 2. I’m 5’5” with broader shoulders. My service coats cannot lay flat inside the garment section so I know bigger people have a challenge.

Another two to three inches in width would be really helpful. Despite my improvement suggestions, I will be recommending this bag to everyone.

11 bags) is 2nd to none. The lower portion is great for items that you may not need immediate access to; boots, tent, etc. The upper section is roomy, and easy to pack. No problem packing “one more thing” to this bag.

My only suggestion (also made by other reviewers) would be a telescoping handle for ease of movement. Once packed the bag is heavy ( it starts out at 19 lbs before you put anything in it). I am only 5’2″ and this bag is cumbersome to move once packed.

Let’s go 5. 11, retool this workhorse by adding a retractable handle to this bag.

Not quite as good as my 32 year old Australian Elite wheeled duffel; but it can fit one more FRC coverall, being several square inches larger. Despite the build quality, I really don’t expect this bag to last as long (or travel as many miles).

The top handle/straps (with the hook-and-loop) need to be a couple inches longer, a full pack makes it difficult to close the straps, and impossible to use as a carry handle. The wheels take up a lot of real estate inside the bag, but the ride stability is good.

Overall: happy with the purchase, price was good (20% discount helped), build quality looks good. Separated boot compartment would be great.

I chose this bag because it met some very specific criteria I had in mind – had wheels, fits in most overheads, generally lightweight, and to meet my husband’s preferences, I wanted that “duffle bag” styling.

The actual item fits the bill and looks like it will be of good enough quality over time (as yet untested), but I was disappointed to see there is no shoulder-carry strap that comes with the bag. I realize most people will naturally prefer to simply roll the bag, but I was hoping to obtain a certain flexibility for moving between paved areas and indoors vs.

when you have to hoist up the bag for stairs or bumpier walkways, etc. I guess I made an assumption this bag would come with a strap because the same model of bag, when it is sold *without* wheels, comes with a strap.

In fact, this bag still has the plastic rings on each end where one *could* attache a shoulder strap. And I will – but it will not match the color scheme of the bag over all or any of its other straps and features, which is just disappointing for a brand new bag.

I don’t insist on perfection but for the sake of a bag that appears as if any thought went into its design and colors, I even reached out to LL Bean via their website to inquire if I could pay *extra* to order just a strap in the relevant color.

My inquiry received no response whatsoever, another major disappointment. I’d bought the bag as a gift for my husband, who likes it well enough and plans to use it. If it were for me, I’d have returned it for the lack of a strap, because it also has only one small, tight outer pocket.

I bypassed other bags I’d looked at with much better pocket arrangements (so you can grab your book, kindle, snack, whatever from the bag during flight without having to pull the whole thing out and open) because I thought this bag had the flexibility to roll or be shoulder carried.

Naturally it’s very disappointing that it doesn’t have that. Thought I’d share so others can consider whether that’s an important feature for them.

We originally bought the smaller version of this bag but returned it (easily) for the medium size bag which seems to hold more than a carry bag would. So far we like this duffle bag style. The only draw back for me is the opening is not as accessible as I would like and this is why I rated the bag 4 stars.

We used an outside bag belt to help keep the contents in place. I also use packing cubes too and that helps. Overall I like this bag. Prior to purchasing this we had a brand new soft shell suitcase that lasted only one trip.

It was supposed to be one of the best suitcases but proved otherwise. We intentionally looked at luggage other people we using and it seemed that many used the duffel bag style. The design of the wheels on this bag are more recessed and less vulnerable to being ripped off.

The canvas is sturdy and the color is easy to spot on the luggage belt.

Medium and large were on backorder so I went with the extra large. Wow is this thing huge. I can fit my 16yo in it. We fit all the clothes for an 8 day cruise for 3 people in this. On the way back I even shoved more in it.

It’s heavy, definitely will be too large to fly with but it’s a lot cheaper than a large suitcase, comes with the 1year return policy (which is huge for someone who starts packing months in advance of a trip), and is heavy duty.

I crammed this full and was able to force the zipper on without any issues. I’m 5’4″ and did not need to use the telescoping handle. It was tall even just using the cloth handle. My 16yo who is 5’9″ used the telescoping handle, but he didn’t need it.

This took up the entire width of my forester trunk. Defintely takes some muscle to move around when it’s full. No idea when I’ll use it again, but for the cost of a carry on suitcase, but more heavy duty it was worth the purchase.

Maybe I’ll send kid 1 to college with it in a few years. For now it lays flat and slides under my bed, would also fit under out couch.
