20 Best Dental Chews For Puppies (2023 Updated)

Yes, both my dogs liked it. For a quick snack! My forty pound boxer devoured hers completely in about five minutes and my twenty pound terrier was about two thirds of the way through his at that point, but he was taking his time with it.

I should have paid more attention to the review of the owner of the Labrador retriever. But I was fooled by the Nylabone name and did not realize that they now also make dog treats! I will not make that mistake again.

I will buy one more (extra) big durable Nylabone because both my dogs are taking turns with the one for dogs 50 pounds and ignoring the smaller ones. And I will not buy anything in Nylabone’s edibles because they are way too expensive for how short a time they last!.

Unfortunately after buying these for several years, the quality has diminished and they are not a good purchase option. The nylabones called Nubz now are crumbly and dry. In addition the company’s website called Garden pet, has a flippant, petulant attitude about product quality.

Rather than simply acknowledging their poor quality, they expect the consumer to be responsible for returning the product. Fortunately these were brought at Costco, which has integrity, and they refunded product cost, unlike the manufacturer.

I don’t recommend this product anymore.

I thought this would last longer than 6 minutes. Thor is 6 months old today. I got this to occupy him when he came home from his neutering and keep his mouth busy on this instead of his incision. nope.

i know. it’s a chew, but had hoped for an hour or two. i got a couple for a couple days of distraction. we took away an old rubber boot sole, guess I’ll dig it out of the trash – it’s laster through 4 other dogs and a few winter freezes (tough rubber).

I’m Moe, a nine year old golden retriever. I recently learned I have an allergy to grains. I also have sensitive skin. The Dr. recommended this other food and treats, after telling the servants who feed me I have food allergies, he actually wanted me to eat treats and food with grains in them! I don’t know why doctors think hoomans are stupid.

My servants said NO WAY to the treats and food he suggested, he even tried citing a customer reported action as an actual study to vilify these treats and my new regular food to have them buy food with grain in it! We animals know what is happening, and we tell you by scratching, rubbing, and pulling out our hair! If a Dr.

(they think that all other hoomans are dumb) says for us to eat something that makes us itch, and we stop scratching and rubbing with a different food, well, I know I like the food that doesn’t make me feel bad, and tastes like real meat, (cause it’s really meat) and we animals know when we feel better, and our hoomans know too.

If you are like me, tell your servants, I mean hoomans, to look at all the data, talk to doctors that work in food science, get a second opinion. And find out if your Dr. is getting paid for suggesting or prescribing certain foods, remember, doctors make money by having our hoomans take us into office a lot.

Some doctors don’t do that. And they call US dumb animals! I don’t scratch or pull at my muzzle anymore from food and treats. I am still treating my skin issues, but, my new food and treats give me more energy, a better coat, less itching, better tummy, and I’m more active and alert than I’ve been for a bit.

I’m a super healthy Goldie now, and my blood work proves it. Even my slight arthritis is getting better. Even though the treats are a bit more expensive than my old ones, the hoomans save money by less Dr bills, and I actually eat less because I get more nutrition out of my food and treats! Five paws up from me!.

My baby girl, Akira, is a picky eater. She doesn’t like most treats and chicken ones are her favorite. After many trial and error with treats, the only ones we found that she would eat were the Kirkland brand chicken jerky.

We continued to search for other healthy options and ones which would help keep her teeth clean as she fights us tooth and nail to brush her teeth and we have given up. We tried these Dental bones and she likes them! She actually gets super excited when I pull the bag out of the cabinet and sits so pretty for them.

She has only had 2 of them so I can’t comment on how well they help with keeping her teeth clean but at least she is excited about getting them, which is the biggest hurdle with her. Keeping my fingers crossed that they help keep her teeth as clean as a bone can do.

These are a win win very versatile treat and are first choice crunchy treats for cost and quality. The dogs love them. They are more choosy with dry treats, but take these just like moist favs of theirs.

Great value, especially for name brand, grain-free treats! The duck flavor is usually least expensive. I don’t know why, but the dogs gobble them down likeky split, same as the other flavors. They can be broken and put inside a Kong for treat play.

It takes them longer to get out and is very economical change up. The dogs look forward to their Kong delight every night.

These are great! My dog sits by the “treat” counter each morning and waits to brush her teeth!

Read these were good for dental hygiene and less expensive than the ones I normally get.

Dogs love these chews and opt for them over other favorite chew toys. One thing, they are a bit small for heavy chewing smaller dogs.

We have the large tire toy also by Starmark for our pit-lab mix. It’s been great for her and we’ve loved trying out the different flavors that fit in the toy. Out of all of them, I think the chicken flavor is my least favorite to buy.

She enjoys the taste as much as the others, but something about the shape of these makes them wayyyy easier for her to pop out of the tire toy and demolish it. The other flavors (liver particularly), she can gnaw and lick at for at least 1.

5 to 2 hours before finally popping it out so she can finish it off from there. For these chicken ones, she’ll pop them out and eat them within 15 minutes. I don’t know if this flavor just softens quicker or if it’s the shape, because none of the other ones have the tall ridges on top that we’ve tried so far.

So, the chicken ones aren’t worth it for me because they don’t last as long, but the other flavors are definitely worth it! I recommend buying the flavors without the tall ridges on top instead.

These are by far her favorite treats. She brings the toy to me almost everyday, even though she only gets one a week. She gets the treat out and eats it up pretty zippy now. But, the first time it took her a long time, like an hour.

Now, a few months later (and older) I feel like I might as well just give her the treat. But she has such fun with working them out all the way. Four stars only because I wish it was a bit more challenging still, but you can’t argue with it being the fav from the dog’s point of view.

Have over the years had several dogs (2 Rotties, yellow Lab, Mixed?) and now a 3 1/2 year old Newfie (4th owner!). Always get a dental chew at some point in their lives but as Oracle has probably never been attended to for tooth care, we wanted a product we had some previous experience with.

Have had the “regular” non-dental Starmarks as a treat (one a day) as a”good night” or good girl treat, so it seemed prudent to stay with that manufacturer and go with the dental variety. Oracle LOVES them and after only several (replacing the other night time treat) her teeth look better and hopefully are cleaner.

Not being one who wishes to force the mouth of a HUGE Newfoundland’s open, we will not know until she gets her next visit with the vet. If anybody around us sells these in their stores, we were unable to find them so once again its Chewy to the rescue! My dog loves these! I think he likes them more then anything else I have ever have him. although they are for Xs to small dogs and mine is medium they are actually perfect I thought he would chew threw them in about 5 secs but each one last him almost 5 mins and he keeps wanting more and more I started with one flavor then gave him the other flavor them he was jumping all over the place begging for more so I gave him to at once and he is jumping around being so feisty and excited to eat these.

He sits before I tell him to sit just begging for more. I will definitely wing using both bags and buying more I might try to find a bag for a medium dog he is just slightly over small but normally chews threw stuff so fast and these last a long time so I’m hoping a size up will last even longer he is hooked on these and Ryder (my puppy) says thank you so much he really enjoys them and I’m glad to have a treat he loves that he loves so much.

When we leave the house with out him he freaks out and this might just be the treat to clam him down and make him happy to give to him before we leave although these last longer then I expected I still want to size up so when we are gone he can chew on it even longer! I have now put the treats up after 5 and he is sniffing the box trying to find mor she has never done this with any treat I have ever bought him and he always has some kinda of treat on hand.

He is now jumping on me begging for more! So glad to learn of this brand price does not mater to me we will continue to buys these in a size up or even this size when the size up is unavailable ** after reading the back label it says to only give one to my pup a day with that being said he does need a bigger size and they go to fast for him being for the wrong dog size but I would rebuy again for a medium size dog maybe even large considering how much he chews stuff up in my house and eats it if he has a bigger one to last longer it could prevent this from happening! I got these dental chews on an offer as I had a discount for them as my puppy had just turned 3 months at the time so was the right age. I got the pack for smaller dogs as he was under 9kg at the time, and he loved these chews! It kept him occupied for a while and had no issues, however the first two days of using them, he did end up vomiting early hours the next morning, bringing just the chew back up.

This could be unrelated and could’ve happened anyway, but I had stopped using them immediately. I started using them earlier in the day and had no issues with vomiting, so I believe it could’ve been my mistake giving them later on the evening (around 7:30pm) I’ve been using them since and have had no issues at all.

My dog loves them, they seem to help keep tartar to a minimum and the price is reasonable. However, we’ve had two incidents with them and I don’t think I’ll buy them again. 1) One night, my dog was acting very strange after I gave her a treat.

She was pawing at her mouth & rubbing it on the rug. When I checked her mouth, I found a chunk of the treat stuck on the roof of her mouth near her back teeth. I was able to remove it, but it frightened me.

2) Another night, she vomited a short time after eating her treat. I found marble sized, undigested pieces of the treat in the clear vomit. Maybe she didn’t chew them up enough or maybe she just had an upset stomach & they didn’t have a chance to digest, but it caused some concern for me.

Has anyone else had this problem?.

I have an English bulldog pug who is 10 years old and very picky when it comes to bones. He cannot have rawhide due to his breed and I figured I’d give these a shot. He absolutely loves these, so do I because there’s no mess! Personally my dog chews his bones in his bed and usually makes a crummy mess but with these i don’t have to worry! Also with his breed he has a lot of skin and allergy issues and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in his fur! I don’t know if this helps but, when i dog sit for my sister her pup goes crazy for these too! The product was definitely thinner than what i expected but it makes sense once you see how long it takes for them to chew.

My two tiny Yorkies go CRAZY for these dental chews. Unlike other (very expensive) dental sticks we’ve tried, these are actually made of wholesome ingredients and probiotics, and they give my dogs’ teeth a good 5-10 minute workout every day.

Best of all, they’ve not once upset my girl’s super sensitive stomach! These sticks can sometimes be a little too hard and sharp-edged for my lighter chewer with his wimpy jaws, so I slightly soften his in the microwave for about 5 seconds first.

I’ve been buying Get Naked Dental Stick Treats from Chewy for years. I open the packages and put them in a container – don’t count them. Every night I give one to each of my whippets. One bag should last 9 days if there are 18 as Chewy says.

They went up in price a couple of dollars but I kept buying them anyway because my dogs really like them. I decided to count how many are in the package to see how much it cost to give two every night.

The bag does not say how many treats it contains. Unusual. It does not contain 18 treats. 17 in all of the bags I bought. Now I know our nightly routine of these treats costs 70 cents. That seems a bit high for such small treats.

I’ll have to think about whether I keep up this routine with these treats. I rated a three because although I think it is a good product, I also think the price per treat is high for the size.

On Sunday my bf went to Sam’s and bought these treats b/c we are fostering an Australian Terrier and also have a Maltipoo so we wanted to give them treats for good behavior and keep their mouth clean.

We gave these treats to them on Monday evening and that’s all she ate for the rest of the night. Well – Tuesday my Maltipoo began having really loud stomach gurgles and just a small bit of loose stools.

Then at night she ended up puking three times, and then having some dyarrea. I could not figure out what was wrong. I even though it was from some chicken that we fed both of them that my boyfriend and I had cooked and season fresh for them.

(Yes we are those types of dog owners since we don’t have kids. ) So THEN, Wednesday her symptoms worsened and then had massive loose stools overnight. My boyfriend went to the store at 6am to get her some medicine for her stomach.

I thought she was doing better, but Thursday overnight into Friday morning she had even MORE runny stools. My Maltipoo is potty trained, but poor gal went in five different places. She didn’t even make it to the bathroom.

I was glad she wasn’t throwing up anymore and thankful I have the Bissell Spot Bot, but she didn’t feel good. My dogs are not allowed on my bed, she sleeps in memory foam Serta next to me, but last night she wanted me to hold her and she kept trying to get on my bed and ended up sleeping right beneath me under the space below my bed so she was closer to me.

You can tell she’s sad and is not feeling well. If my dog doesn’t feel better today, I’m taking her to the Vet. My bf is staying home with her today as I had to go to work, and keeping her a close watch to make sure she’s at least still drinking water.

The medicine we got her has helped, but I’m afraid these MINTIES that have caused my Maltipoo to get violently ill are going to do more damage. My Australian Terrier will eat ANYTHING, and his stools have also been runny and un-normal, but not as bad as my Maltipoo.

Still – Minties should make sure they have a safe formula. No product should cause this type of distress in a dog and this much damage. That’s not safe. My Maltipoo was gifted to me for my birthday and she is my soul.

I love her more than anything in this world and I just want her to feel better. I’m really upset and it’s painful to watch my Maltipoo be in this kind of state. I will try to add photo and video if possible.

I would never recommend this product to anyone. I have over 1,000 followers on social media and have already let them know to avoid this product.

These are for a medium size dog but my larger ones love them and despite the size they still take a bit for both of them to devour. I also use a couple other brands and flavors for their morning dental routine but these are proving to be among their favorites.

Both are pit mix breeds. One is an adult the other a senior. We have not had any stomach or skin issues since introducing them into our diet/routine.

We were looking for a healthy after meal snack for our lab, Potus, and tried a few other brands. Poor Potus’ teeth were getting really loaded with plaque and thought I would try Greenies. then I saw the price! Just above the Greenie shelf were some Minties, Grabbed a bag, compared ingredients and prices, and went home with the Minties with the high hopes that they would clean his teeth.

By the time we finished with the first bag, Mr. Potus looked like he had been to a dentist and received an expensive teeth whitening treatment! WOW, Minties really does clean away tartar! LOVE this product and so does Potus!.

I have always had a hard time finding treats and chews that I are not harmful for my dogs and that are also helpful with gum health and teeth cleaning. These little guys last a little longer than a milk bone type snack ,depending on your dog size, (I have a chihuahua and a lab mix), but are a good snack to prevent overfeeding and they help keep their teeth clean and breath fresh.

My dogs are relatively young so they love them and have no problem chewing them. I don’t know how they would be for an older dog, but they are about the size of a dime and maybe a 1/2 inch thick. My guys love them.

They are in my rotation of “Treats!” that I use to reinforce good behavior. Also look at the Enzadent Oral Chews on this site. My dogs love them too. The medium is great for my 36 pound lab mix and just a little big for my 16 pound Chihuahua.

I’ll probably order him the small ones. But they are great and my dogs LOVE them! They are a long lasting chew. Keep an eye on your dogs as these chews get soft after a while and your dog may try to swallow it.

I take it away from them and let it dry before I give it to them again.

My dog, Travis loves these Dentees. He gets one every night before bed and as he chews he gets into a meditative zone. Oh, and did I mention that the chews do a great job at keeping his teeth and gums healthy and his breath fresh.

Unlike some other chews on the market these seem to break down and digest better. We have tried others which have caused our dog to vomit big chunks. Dents are the best on the market.

I have been giving my 2 dogs Dentees for years. They each get one piece in the a. m. and p. m. It is a ritual. Although these treats are good for their teeth, my dogs love them as their ultimate favorite treat in the world!! They will do anything for a Dentee.

One of my dogs goes crazy barking when I just open the container. I will continue purchasing them forever. Entirely Pets is a great company and they were delivered promptly.

My terrier mix, Lilly Mae, is so so picky even with chewies. It took me a long time of trying so many different chewies to find three she will eat. Her favorite is this dental chewie. At night when we go to bed I line them up and she will always eat this one first.

Doesn’t matter the order they are in, it’s just always this one first. The ones that come in a bag are together in rows of 5 and it is hard to separate them. The ones in the box are all separated. With my arthritis it hurts separating them.

Lilly Mae patiently waits till I get one apart but there are times she wines and wines waiting for one. That is why I gave it a 4 star and not the 5 star. Had it not been for that I would have given it a 5 star review.

My review is as low as it can go. Product is fine – but the delivery makes it impossible to find it a good deal. They won’t bring it to the house – always leave it at night – after dark – by the gate.

They have delivery instructions with a gate code – and there is a call button if they can’t find their code number. The boxes have to be brought in – cannot be left out all night because it will get wet or the coyotes will break into it – or both.

It’s packaged in one box – two heavy bags of dog food. I have a terrible time lifting it – and at night I cannot get help. It happens almost every time. A couple of times it’s been brought up to the house – and it’s so easy then.

I just cannot be lifting a heavy box and trying to carry it to the car in the dark, so I will stop buying from Chewy.

When I bought these DentaStix, I overlooked the word “large,” I think, because they were on sale. Anyway, I opened the package and knew that I made a mistake for our 11 pound pup. After considering a return to Chewy, I took the large stix and cut them in half.

The treats were now the same length as the smaller ones, but with a thicker radius. Then came the real test when I gave the treat to Rudy. He loved them, and with the extra thickness, it took a little longer for him to gnaw on it.

I could be wrong, but the longer he chewed on the DentaStix, the better it was for his teeth. So now, what I had considered a mistake, has proved to be what I feel is a benefit.

Just got a 1 year old Whoodle as a rescue. Previous doggie loved Greenies but since i was trying Rachael Ray’s line I thought we would give them a try. Ollie wasn’t eager to take it, but he did. Left it on his bed most of the day.

Eventually he gave it a try and he was not a fan. These crumble and there were little pieces everywhere. He didn’t even finish one and ended up theowing that one away. His breath is good though. Not sure what to do with the rest of the bag.

She LOVES LOVES LOVES it! She gets one everyday and it’s probably her favorite treat. It does help some with her breath but not completely. It’s very expensive too! I would buy it more often if it was cheaper.

I have been on the hunt for a dental bone item that my dogs won’t swallow hole. We did the dental sticks for a long time but both my pomeranian mix and shitzu mix swallowed them whole when we switched to bigger ones they would bite once and swallow.

These awesome bones actually require my dogs to truly chew them and it takes them 2 min which is how long us humans are supposed to brush for so I figure it is sufficient. And their previously stink breath is improving quickly! Also love that they are Rachel Ray and Grain Free!.

After purchasing other dental treats for some time, they became too pricey and I started to research some other brands. A few different articles I came across mentioned how these Kirkland treats were some of the best as recommended by different vets.

My dog loves them and the design of the bones force my dog to chew more. Of course they smell like they are meant for dogs – the scent smells like a dog treat! But I have noticed an improvement in my dog’s teeth with these treats, along with daily brushing.

My dog is smaller and although the box and my vet said I could give my pup a whole bone a day, I have found that since they are more rigid, I can split it in half and give it to my dog. So far I haven’t noticed any stomach upset or color residue, etc.

I think when buying food/treats for dogs, we need to remember that like humans, it is not always a one size fits all. What works for one dog/person may not be suitable for another. I would recommend anyone who is looking for something grain free with no artificial flavors and a treat that is made in the USA to give these a try.

So far they have been a great purchase.

PROS: This stuff works! I have 2 dogs that can get stinky breath pretty quickly and it’s not fun. I love cuddling with them and hate it when their breath smells bad. I’ve tried Dentastix and did a little experiment.

With Kirkland Dental Chew, their breath is actually neutralized. No more stinky breath! We used to use Greenies but they’re so expensive. CONS: This is huge!.

My dogs love these chews and their teeth and gums are in great shape. Their breath is also good. I suggest storing the bags in zip locks to preserve freshness. Some chews smelled pretty bad but not all.

Previous batches have been hard and discolored but this last batch was very good. It’s a great price compared to the Greenies brand so I switched. No issues with digestion either. Recommended!.
