Denim shorts are a great option for curvier figures because they provide a bit of structure and support while still being comfortable and stylish. They can be dressed up or down, making them versatile for any occasion.
Plus, the right pair of denim shorts can help to accentuate your curves in all the right ways!.
Make your booty pop with the Curves Pocket Shorts! Featuring a booty scrunch back, easy side pockets for any size cell phone, high-waisted, with the softest fabric. Ultra-flattering and up for anything, these must-have shorts are perfect for the gym and beyond.
I’m 5’3” 140lbs with a rectangular build. Because my waist/hips are pretty much the same size, most shorts bunch up in the front (you know what I mean ladies) but not these! It’s a miracle! No matter how you squat/bend/move they stay flat in the front.
I can workout without being self-conscious of that. Also, because I’m petite a lot of shorts fit like longer seamed bicycle shorts. These smalls were perfect. I thought the scrunch butt seam might chafe or annoy me but on the contrary these are the softest most comfortable shorts I have.
I’m looking forward to getting more colors. Be forewarned: they come out of the package extremely small – like child’s size small. But POOF as soon as you slide them on they take shape. I cannot say enough how much I love these.
These curve shorts are my favorite cut. Every workout this summer have sported them in the gym. The cut is perfect for me, high waisted with the scrunch butt makes them shortie with out riding up. I love all the colors but the sea form is my favorite.
The material is so soft. The curve shorts have kept their shape over many many washes. Those bright and vibrant colors have not faded. I expected the material to pill but they have not. My tip is always dry them on delicate, just to dame and then air dry as much as possible.
The days get longer and the denim gets shorter, and these easy favorite shorts use Ab-solution technology to shape, smooth and lift in all the right places. Style Name:Democracy Ab-Solution Denim Shorts (Plus Size).
Incredibly comfortable waistband,on trend styles, soft stretchy fabric that really does flatter but doesn’t sag (anywhere). I have tried so many different brands. My issue has been finding a waist that fits without digging into my stomach.
If the waist did fit, the thighs and seat were WAY too big. I’m able to wear Democracy jeans and shorts all day long. They truly shape and flatter like promised. This is now my go-to brand. I won’t waste my money elsewhere!.
I have bought and returned so many different brands of shorts that never work for me these were absolutely perfect ! Comfortable , great quality etc. I can’t say enough abt these. I highly recommend ! I will definitely be buying more Democracy clothing in the future ! So nice to have some shorts that fit good and are comfortable ! Thank-You !!.
The cut: definitely on the sexy side, our holy grail jean shorts have a superhigh rise complete with our sleek Magic Pockets in front. The fabric: vintage-y denim with a touch of stretch for a broken-in feel.
High rise, fitted through hip and thigh. – Front rise: 10 3/4′; inseam: 4′. 99% cotton/1% elastane low-stretch denim. – Magic Pockets; raw hems. – Machine wash. – Import.
i probably own every Madewell item that comes in Lunar wash. I love the washed black color and think of them as good closet staples. I had ordered these in my usual size last summer but ended up returning them because, in this fabric, they felt shorter and tighter than my other denim high-rise shorts of the same style.
as in I didn’t feel like I could sit on the floor in them without needing to adjust and pull at them to stay comfortable (and adequately covered). I decided to try the next size up this year, and will keep them, but I don’t think they will be in heavy rotation because the fabric just isn’t as versatile and forgiving as the regular denim version of the high-rise shorts.
It feels stiffer out of the wash but then loses its shape on day one, especially around the leg openings. I wear denim shorts several times before washing them, and most Madewell shorts just get softer and better with each wear.
These will be reserved for outings vs. WFH and playing with my kids.
I like these ok, but I don’t love them. I’m so happy about there finally being a curvy fit option since my hips are so much wider than my waist, but I was still disappointed in the fit/look. To be fair, it’s listed as such in the product description that the hems are unfinished, but to me it looks cheap and the hems aren’t cut evenly.
For the price, I expected more. Also, I wish these came in tall sizing along with the curvy. It wouldn’t matter if the hems were unfinished if I could roll them, but the inseam is too short on me to do so, so I’ll be stuck wearing tights under them, which is what I was hoping to avoid with these shorts.
I am 5’10” 180lbs. I wear size 31 in curvy fit high rise jeans, but needed a 30 for these shorts. The waist didn’t seem quite as cinched on these as the jeans, or maybe the fabric is stretchier. I’m sure these would be great if I was shorter.
I boycotted denim shorts for a few years, but I decided to take a chance on these shorts and was pleasantly surprised! I’ve got an athletic body with a booty and large thighs and a smaller waist, and these are very flattering on me.
I took my regular curvy size (one size down from what I’d take in regular denim), and they fit pretty true to size. They have stretched out a bit with wear and I probably could fit into a size down, but they’d be pretty tight.
They’re not perfect — there’s still a bit of a gap in the waist, but not enough for me to need them tailored. And they do ride up a bit when walking, but that happens with basically any short for me.
My first Ten Thousand shorts were the Tacticals, which got me hooked on Ten Thousand’s gear. After some durability issues with the Tactical shorts (multiple blown seams on two pairs), the Interval short became my go-to for MTNTOUGH workouts (HIIT, heavy pack, etc.
), running, and mobility work. I’m a big fan of the on-leg, on-liner phone pocket that the Tacticals and Intervals have, so I was a bit hesitant of the Session short, given that it lacked the on-leg phone pocket.
In fact, I’d ordered and returned a pair of Session shorts because I found the on-waist phone pocket annoying. I recently moved from Fort Collins, Colorado to College Station, Texas and went from warm-and-dry training to hot-and-humid training, so I figured the Session shorts deserved a second chance.
I’ve been pleased with how they’ve held up during humid morning runs (80–90º F and 75–85% humidity) and hot midday runs (95–105º F and ~40% humidity). They stay drier and lighter than the Interval shorts during outdoor workouts.
I’ve realized the on-waist phone pocket is not annoying (I’d judged too quickly) and I appreciate the pocket’s sweat-resistance. In addition, the Session shorts are great for mobility work and MTNTOUGH workouts, so I’m quite happy to have them in my rotation.
~~~~~~~~ **Aside on hot weather gear. ** This is definitely no slight against Ten Thousand (or any manufacturer for that matter), but I’ve yet to find shorts and shirts that aren’t sopping wet within a couple minutes of stopping a 30+ minute run in the Texas heat and humidity—I think I just sweat a lot.
That said, Ten Thousand’s Session shorts and Set shorts are probably the top performers for moving heat/moisture away. Patagonia’s Baggies and Nine Trails have also done decently well—the Nike shorts I have… not so much.
On the shirt front, Ten Thousand’s Lightweight shirt and some old New Balance Lightning Dry shirts and a Black Diamond’s Flux Merino shirt have best managed and regulated heat/moisture; Ten Thousand’s Versatile shirt and an old Under Armour Heat Gear shirt have performed reasonably well too.
Patagonia’s Capilene Cool Daily shirt and Ten Thousand’s Durable shirt become drenched fairly quickly and never recover. (I appreciate that the Durable shirt isn’t necessarily meant for cardio at high humidity and temps, so again, that’s not a slam on the Durable shirt).
I too was intrigued by the branding and novelty of this brand. I read enough reviews to discover that there were some red flags but decided to order a pair of shorts anyways to give the company a chance.
I’ve been running almost my entire life and have never had a pair or running shorts ever fail me, especially within the first month of ownership. I initially loved the color and the fit of the Session short however.
after TWO washes (Cold water and hang dry) the lightweight waistband inexplicably degraded and started to unravel around the point of entry of the draw string. Remember when I said some red flags? This was the exact same issue another customer encountered and was not offered a replacement or refund.
Instead they were told that the shorts must have been damaged by how they washed them. This is why I clarified earlier in this review that I followed the wash instructions -> The shorts waistband is clearly all about design/lightweight construction at the complete cost of functionality and durability.
I have zero confidence that the company will address this issue and they will continue to sell the shorts with this known issue. Perhaps Ten Thousand will update the waistband in future iterations but that is of little interest to a customer who just spent 68 dollars on shorts that are falling apart.
I don’t think its necessary to say that I am extremely dissatisfied with my purchase and will be more than happy to share my experience with other potential customers in my running group. Also the cell phone pocket location is not nearly as comfortable as a thigh pocket as seen on other brands.
Just to give a point of reference – I have been consistently running in a pair of Lululemon Surge 5″ shorts for 2 years now and they have not had any construction issues like the “Session Short”. Do not waste your money or your time.
Cute denim shorts with a stylish cuffed hem in the relaxed boyfriend fit you love. Five-pocket styling. 7″ inseamCotton/poly/spandexMachine washImported | Plus Size Women’s Cuffed Denim Short by Denim 24/7 in Dark Wash (Size 32 W).
I love all of the Denim 24/7 line. These shorts have nice stretch and are a good length. However, I do not like the cuffs. After washing, the cuffs refuse to stay looking nice. Even after ironing, they wanted to curl up.
On one pair of shorts I ended up sewing the top of the cuff so it would remain looking good after washing. On the other pair of shorts I ended up folding the cuff under and sewing it down-so there is no longer a cuff.
These shorts are true to size for me. I consistently wear a 26 at Woman Within, Cato, and Catherine’s. The denim is good quality. I wish I had paid better attention to the description. It definitely fits like a skinny Jean; the legs are snug.
The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that I wish there was a bit more stretch in the cuff so that it was more comfortable.
There’s a reason why Suki is our best-selling curvy fit. To start, it’s designed with our proprietary contoured waistband that contours right where you need it (and not where you dont). The result is an ultra-flattering fit that never gaps or creates muffin top.
It also features a modern mid rise at 10 inch to flatter a curvier backside and create a subtle butt-lifting effect. This short is finished with a dark indigo wash, cuffed hem and double stacked waistband for a touch of retro appeal.
These are comfortable, cute shorts! They have some stretch to them, but it’s not too tight. These actually fit a little loose, but not too much, in comparison to other shorts I bought from Silver with holes all in them in the same size in Suki.
They did tighten a little after i washed and dried them They fit as expected-I bought them in my normal size I wear and they fit fine. I like that these do not have holes in them. I wish the website carried them in light denim too.
Love this mid rise boyfriend shorts. I love silvers jeans period. Perfect length. Not too long and definitely not super short. Very much the sweet spot. Has stretch. So comfy. No muffin top. Nice support.
Flattering fit and cut. Bought 2 pairs so I would have a pair at home and a pair at the cabin.
The Amanda shorts from Gloria Vanderbilt provide comfort, style, and a flattering fit. They feature a solid color design, a single button waist closure, belt loops, and basic 5 pocket styling for on-the-go ease.
The inseam measures approximately 6 in. 6 in. inseam, Basic 5 Pocket, Cotton, Denim, Elastane, Front Zip, Imported, Machine Wash, Solid, Tumble Dry.
I am absolutely loving my Amanda Shorts by Gloria Vanderbilt! Let’s face it as we get older we tend to go for shorts that are comfortable and cover up more than we did when we were younger. (At least I know I do) These Amanda Shorts are just that! They aren’t to long nor to short but just right in the length.
They are made with quality fabric that unlike most have just the right amount of stretch to them. They can be dressed up or down and worn any where with sandals or sneakers. The pockets don’t bunch up like some I’ve worn in the past.
I can definitely tell you, these shorts will last for a long time to come because the fabric used and also the stitching on them is top notch. My only problem is keeping my daughter’s paws off of them.
She loves to wear them to her school games and functions during Spring and Summer months. But I’m not complaining I mean she does get her stylish side from me. Hehe! I’d like to think she does that is!! I can’t wait to get us both a couple more pairs so me and her both can dress alike and she’ll leave mine alone.
These shorts has strong positives and negatives. First the good: they were really comfortable, the material is soft, the color is great, the pockets are usable and my husband said they look good. The bad: for me personally, they were way too “mom” for a pair of my shorts.
They were most definitely high rise and went up probably 2 inches above my belly button. They have a long zipper in them. If I wore them with a long t-shirt that covered up how high of a rise they were, they would be fine.
Others will probably love them because they are good quality, they just aren’t my style at all.
I wore these Amanda Shorts by Gloria Vanderbilt on vacation and got so many compliments!! They are curve flattering and wear very well. The zipper stays put and the pockets don’t bunch up. They are extremely comfortable and soft and the stitching is impeccable.
They are thick not thin like many brands and I will be able to enjoy wearing them for a long time. They pair well with sneakers or heels and I can wear them with literally everything. These are a well-made , quality pair of shorts.
This was a much better experience than before where I never received my order for over a month and after a refund, they didn’t cancel all the fees and when I thought I had a zero balance, they reported my account as being late.
I was so upset I thought I wouldn’t shop at Avenue any more but the one thing I can trust from the Avenue is that my size will be a true fit. Plus size females want to look styilsh but need comfort. I find many styles have stretchy material so as my weight fluctuates, I can still wear my clothes.
I can usually find sale items and the material doesn’t look cheap. I usually get my money’s worth. I feel the advantage the Avenue has over their competition is good fit and good prices.
The name says it all-this long denim short is a sure thing. They’re designed with a high rise and universally flattering fit that works for a variety of body types. Plus, the perfectly contoured waistband ensures no gapping, period.
Finished with an on-trend length that hits just above the knee.
Sometimes the bombshell jeans are too tight in the waist, but these shorts are perfect. Super comfortable to wear all day and feels better around the waist than usual. The length is perfect too. Doesn’t have the “soccer mom” Bermuda short cut all the way down to your knees, but also doesn’t have the attention seeking butt cheeks hanging out either.
Comes to mid thigh to cover any cellulite you may have, and contours to the leg to make you look shapely and nice! Gies well with many tops. Hope Torrid will make more shorts in different colors and material in this exact cut and length!.
I am 40 years old and this is the first summer I have really worn shorts. They always ride up, I have a big booty and thick thighs and the legs in shorts are always too tight. These shorts are a dream!!! The leg openings are wide (and short) enough that the legs don’t roll up when I sit down.
Please note, these are booty shorts lol I saw some other reviews that complained their panties showed when they bent over, and yes, you can’t wear the bloomers with these shorts lol. But, if you struggle with shorts because you’re bottom heavy with a smaller waist (and you want to show a little skin) then these are for you.
I recently lost a little weight and suddenly had no shorts that fit anymore. Living in Tennessee where we often have summer weather through October, I really needed something to get me through the rest of the season.
So about a month ago I hit up the clearance at Torrid and found these. I was a little on the fence when I first saw them because I typically don’t like a button fly, but after receiving them I realized I only have to unbutton the top 2 buttons to slide them on and off.
They are so cute and fit perfectly! I love them and have been wearing them practically nonstop. Highly recommend!.
I bought the aurora borealis in store and love them. Bought them big so they would be longer, then went online and got a size smaller. I’m 58 so I love the light fabric & thigh mostly covered. They have a draw string so I pull them in and wear on my hips.
I’ve lost weight and went 2 sizes down up top and 1 on the bottom. Since I’m buying bigger, I cut the runners pant out of the inside too. no one wants the granny pantys inside the shorts cause they are bigger on me now.
Makes them cooler as well. Very attractive on! Thank you ON! Last year I bought your StretchTech mens shorts for myself and both my daughters and my son lol. everyone is a different size or our names would be in them.
That’s usually how I get more length. I’d love to see that with the women’s apparel as well. Options would be nice with shorts. We still want style with a bit of extra modesty. I have friends who refuse to wear sport comfy shorts because they are always to short.
I’m sure I’m not the only one to raid the mens shorts.
Nice lightweight running shorts. I got the green color in size Large, my usual size, and they fit the way I’d expect. They have a liner and I’m very happy that they are not a high rise short. I hope you offer more of these more reasonable rises Old Navy.
Some of us can’t do the ultra high rises as they just slip down to the natural waist and then hang down between the legs and create a baggy butt in back. The only reason I took off 1 star is because pockets would be nice.
These shorts are not only good for running but running errands around town too. Pockets would be very much appreciated.
I like the color and fit of this short. It is nice to have a slightly longer short even though these are still shorter shorts, but comfortably covers all the assets with a few inches to spare. I find that these fit slightly smaller than normal for curvy fit.
I ordered the 0, which fit well, but the waist doesn’t have as much stretch so I would be concerned about comfort all day when sitting. They are much higher waisted than expected, to which I attribute the former statement.
I did end up ordering a 2 as well, which is a little more comfortable. I believe they fit well enough in hips and thighs that if they stretch a lot during day, they will still be good and not lose shape.
I find that some of my ae clothing that does that type of thing I can tell when I try them on. There is a nice stretch in the rest of shorts other than the waist. I am 5’5. 5” with a 25” waist (long thin torso) and 37.
I’ll start off with my measurements! Slight Athletic Build: 5’6. 5″ 124 lbs Waist 25. 5″~26. 0″ Hip 36. 0″ Got my normal size 2 in these shorts. First of all, the design is super cute. The pockets are a lil tricky because you have to adjust them but most destroyed shorts are like that.
They also aren’t see through, but I don’t wear dark underwear with white so I can’t comment on 100% opacity. My only issue with these shorts is the waist size. Maybe I need to order curvy shorts rather than regular, but it gaps on the sides.
Usually, my shorts gap a lot at the back (woohoo back problems!), but these ones only gap on the outer part. It’s not too bad, but I wish it really grabbed my waist like some of the curvy mom jeans do.
If you’re more of a straight body type (ruler body type), these will look really great on you. Overall, a good short for summer. Good for so many outfits!.
I sized up based on reviews and I definitely shouldn’t have. I have a pair of straight-size Dream Midi shorts in size 10 from last year that are almost exactly like these except they have a button fly.
They’re too tight after gaining some weight, but they were really tight from the getgo (compared to the rest of the midi shorts I bought at the same time). These are much stretchier and the black “ne(X)t level” pair are even stretchier.
The shorts are wearable, but gap a little in the back and are very loose in the hip/thigh. I decided to keep them because they’re pretty comfortable and at my age (36) I’m over wearing skin-tight clothes haha! I would have liked them to be a little more snug overall, though.
The waistband does not stretch nearly as much as the rest of the shorts, so be aware of that. I’m 5’5”, 160, approx. 34DDD/F-30-43 with an hourglass/pear shape. I usually wear a size 30/10.
These shorts are great, but the sizing is way off compared to the ones in the lighter colour. I ordered two pairs, one in light, one in dark, but the exact same Levis shorts. The darker pair I had to exchange twice as I needed two sizes smaller.
Weird. No mention of any different sizing or stretchier fabric – which it was.
These shorts are super cute and SO comfortable! I am petite and sometimes struggle to find a good length for jean shorts (either too short or too long), but these fit perfectly, hitting mid-thigh. They also have just enough stretch to them to make them incredibly comfortable.
These shorts are lit af! If you don’t have a lot of booty, these will accentuate the bum to make it appear even larger! The slits are strategically placed. These give me Miami vibes. Definitely a dress up or down kind of item! I purchased a 2X which is never my size! I read the reviews & they aren’t wrong! These run small.
I am usually a FN 14plus & depending on sizing of their bottoms, I’d purchase a 1X from FN, but I went up a size for these because I did not want to take a chance! I’d say the problem could be the waist area.
There isn’t much give there so if you buy your usual size, you may fit in but will be unable to button & zip. Size up!.
These shorts are so amazing. They have a lot of stretch in them and they’re true to size. This is the very first time I order from FN. I’m a size 11/13 in jeans, depends on how stretchy they are. I’m 5’2, 144 lbs and I have thick thighs and a small waist.
I GOT A 13 but 11 would’ve been great since they have a lot of stretch. The whole fit has room and the waist has a LITTLE bit of room. I wanted a tighter fit so I’m gonna get an 11 in other colors. But overall great fit.
Only thing is that when you sweat in these and put them on they leave some black residual. I guess it’s the material. Highly recommend tho. I’m gonna be posting pictures with these Jeans on IG. @vittoriaen.
I’m so glad I purchased these. No regrets. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and fit. Usually I buy Levi’s 501 Original shorts and these shorts are comparable in the fit, the look and the sizing.
I purchased size 0. They are thick denim(not see through) , feel like a brushed denim with a hint of stretch. For reference I am 5 ft 4 115 lbs and athletic build. I thought that shorts in the ad looked longer than in person and I bought both size 0 and size 2.
These shorts are short but not so short that they show too much. They are just right for my body type and what I was looking for. So happy that I found a pair of hemmed denim jeans, seems like so many of the denim shorts are raw hem.
I like that these can be dressed up a little with a nice top or just casual with a t shirt or tank top.
These white jeans shorts are awesome! They are so comfortable and are a great quality thickness, so dark underwear doesn’t show underneath! My only concern is the rolled hem: it isn’t stitched down so it will definitely come unrolled and awkward after washing, but I can handle it with an iron.
Totally work it for these great shorts!! For reference: I wear a medium in active leggings and a 6 in Old Navy jeans, and I stayed with a 6 in these. I wish they made this style in a bunch of colors!.
I placed an online order for these shorts as a last minute pickup before a vacation. I didn’t notice until I got home that they were not as shown on the website, but rolled at the bottom and heavily stitched so you can’t unroll them! They are way too short for my body type, which is extremely disappointing because they looked so cute and modest on the model (unrolled).
They do fit well everywhere else and they’re good quality, but I’m confused why they would advertise them like this and then sell them cuffed and stitched. TLDR; too short, won’t be able to wear.
My daughter looked ridiculous in these! Out of the bag, the waist looks small, but appropriate for the size ordered. The hips/butt are another story–they’re huge. She struggled to pull them up over her hips and butt, but once in place the waist was actually too big (thank goodness they have the hidden waist adjusters), but the butt and leg openings were HUGE.
Not sure what child these were made for because the proportions seem quite off to me. It’s disappointing that these companies don’t realize that little girls don’t have the same curves as fully developed women.
These are my daughters favorite denim shorts. They are the perfect length, not too short or too long, and we love the high rise fit. I would say these do run a little big but they also have the adjustable waist so they will fit my daughter through the summer season.
Ladies, I know how short shipping can be a scary task. OLD NAVY DOES IT RIGHT!! The body equality brand they are trying to sell here is worth it! Very comfortable and flattering! I have always struggled with finding Jean shorts that don’t have a gap in the back from having a small waist and bigger hips.
With these, there is no gap in the back and no riding up!! Highly recommend!!.
I loved these shorts, were tight at first through the hips but then after the first time wearing they stretched out. Wore them a few times and washed them today, I got the light acid wash pair. Color completely changed after washing.
They’re now a medium blue color. Super disappointed because I loved them before. Followed manufacturer directions too.
The conclusion of denim shorts for curves is that they are an amazing fashion item that can flatter any body type. They are comfortable, stylish, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
Whether you are looking for a casual pair of shorts to wear around the house or a more dressy pair to wear out on the town, denim shorts are a great option. If you have curves, don’t be afraid to show them off in a pair of denim shorts.
