20 Best Denim Jeans For Men (2023 Updated)

I am a long-time Wrangler wearer – 936DEN, 936PWD, and 936 in various colors – and have always been impressed with the quality, fit, durability, and price. However, since production moved from Mexico to Nicaragua I have noticed a drastic change in the fit of all 936 models.

As other reviewers have noted, they are no longer slim! The fit has changed significantly. I know it’s not me – I have lots of old pairs around and they fit the same way they did a year ago, two years ago, etc.

The new models are coming out different, with more (unwanted) ease in the legs. I don’t mind that they are made in a different place, but your quality assurance needs to improve to make sure the product is coming out the same as it did before, the same is it did for years and years.

Or, if the models have been updated on purpose, bring back the old fit, or introduce a 936 variant that goes back to the old, slimmer, definition of slim. If not, I’m afraid I’m going to have to start looking for a new brand of jeans to wear.

Ordered two pairs of these in February 2022 (Order # 1094482195). Both arrived late because of back order of certain sizes. One pair was fine, but the other pair had two small holes in it (Near right rear pocket, and one just bellow the zipper on the stitch line).

I have never purchased a pair of Wrangler jeans that were defective from day 1. Holes were not discovered until two months later, when the pair was entered into the rotation of jeans. First hole was able to be stitched (Zipper area near the stitch line), but the second bigger hole, even with stitching gets larger and larger upon successive wash.

I have had Wranglers fail before from normal wear and tear, but never from defects and generally they last a lot longer than 3 months. I will never purchase wrangler jeans online for this exact reason.

I love heavy heavy dark indigo jeans. I want my jeans almost stiff enough to stand on their own when new and tougher than a old piece of boot leather. I work very hard I want my jeans to stand up to it.

This style is very excellent work jean. Unlike the 13 mzw rodeo jeans , these have room to bend and squat without your family jewels being crunched. Also the waist feels like it sits at a more comfortable spot.

The only problem I seem to have is I can order multiple pairs of the same size and they all feel different or fit differently when I go to wear them. I don’t know if it is a difference in who sewed them or a difference in who cut the fabric, but it is frustrating.

However usually the 47 style jeans fit relaxed enough that it still feels ok.

The stitching and construction do not match an old pair of wranglers of similar style. 1) Contrast double stitching on back crotch, but not on the front- it looks odd. 2) No contrast on fly stitching as on the old pair.

Weird flap sewn inside the zipper versus normal flat construction. ) No French seam to reinforce pockets- cheap shortcut with interlocking. 4) Entire inseam is served without contrast stitching. Doesn’t lie flat like old pair, but produces weird hump of 4 layers of denim sticking up.

Somebody cut corners on the design. Repaired one pair, because needed new jeans. Returning the others.

I ordered 4 pairs of jeans for my husband. Two pairs already need repair. The belt loops are not stitched down very well & are pulling loose from the pants. Have to get out needle & thread to fix. Not happy! Pants were also a much lighter weight than previous purchases.

I have been buying Lee jeans most of my life. I have big legs and Lee regular leaves some room. The relaxed fit is usually too baggy. I can’t get my calves into some of the jeans from competitors. This particular version has some stretch, so the legs are form fitting, but they bend with you.

They look good and feel good. Note: There is a very fine pin stripping which I believe is the spandex. It may bother some people, but requires a close look to notice.

These fit me good and are nice and dark. The denim is getting lighter weight every time I buy them. The cotton is softer than other brands which I like. I have been buying Lee Jeans for 40 years and as time goes by things change.

Made in America are $100 and up so $32 is a fair price for these.

I’m not one for dressing up so I wear these jeans every day, at home and at work and I have been doing so for nearly 30 years now. I read many reviews that said these jeans had changed in recent years and many were not happy with them but I don’t have any issue with them, in fact I think they have improved.

The cut does seem to have changed slightly, but to me the fit is still just as comfortable as it has always been. I read complaints about the side pockets on the right leg being smaller than before so not being as useful as they used to be, but the jeans I received in my recent orders have pockets that are actually a bit larger than they used to be.

I never used to be able to fit my cell phone (Samsung S20 5G with a hard shell Otterbox case) in either of the two pockets but now it fits in both perfectly. This small expansion of those pockets has made them even more useful for carrying tools like pliers, utility knives, screwdrivers, etc.

when I’m doing handy work around the house as well. They have also added an additional pocket on the left leg under the hammer loop as well. That pocket also fits my cell phone and other items perfectly.

The smaller, tighter fit of those pockets was my only complaint about these jeans before, but not anymore. The pockets are perfect now. The pocket on the left leg was something friends and I used to say would be an excellent addition and it’s great to see Wrangler took the feedback/suggestion and added it.

I was hesitant to order new jeans after reading the comments/reviews from others wondering if my long time favorite jeans would be a disappointment, but so glad I went ahead and got them anyway as they have turned out to be better than ever.

Very pleased with them and will be ordering more very soon as the older pairs I have have lasted well over 10 years but are finally needing to be replaced. If you like relaxed fit carpenter jeans, get these, they are fantastic.

Recommend them 100%.

Seems these are the jeans I always loved. This style of Wrangler jean has always been my go-to jean. For me – WAY better than Levi, Lee, or other jeans. Loved the fit, feel, deep pockets, quality fabric, hardware, etc.

Then, I saw changes, as did a lot of other people according to reviews. Comments were that the material was lighter weight, back pockets smaller, front pockets shallower, watch pocket smaller, crotches tighter, waist fit lower to comply with new style trends, etc.

This concerned me to the point I started checking out local inventory, trying them on. Yes, it did seem they had changed them – a lot probably having to do with they were being manufactured in a lot of different places.

It appeared that what you ended up with depended on what country they were made in, probably what factory. So for 5 years I was afraid to buy these jeans. Finally, I decided if I made sure I only ordered the 96501DS, maybe they might have gone back to the old reliable standard great jean they were before.

Well – good news folks! The jeans I received had all the attributes of the old jeans. I’m extremely happy that I have my old jeans back!.

I am involved in community stray animal care 365 nights a year. During the winter months, while we do not get as frigid as northern states do, windchill off the water at our location frequently is in the 20s, enough to be very uncomfortable without some type of warm clotihing.

While I have had great coverage wtih jackets and upper body wear, the jeans I prefer to use have been quite inadequate to keep my legs war. These Wrangler insulated denims seem to be a perfect balance.

The denim weight is heavy; these are not lightweight pants. The Dupont Thinsulate layer is finished with a fleece lining, allowing good mobility and bending while still keeping heat in and cold out. While I haven’t used them yet this season, they appear to be just what the doctor ordered to avoid having to see the doctor for pneumonia.

Very happy with this purchase and feel the price was quite fair for this product.

These jeans are very nice, fit well and very comfortable. It is a good product for the price paid. I would buy more of them again when needed. Also, it is very nice to be able to pick up items via the Blain’s Farm and Fleet curbside service.

Great fit, have worn Lee’s Men’s regular str. leg jeans for many years. Glad to be able to find them and get them in my exact size. Appreciate your curbside service-totally non-contact and pleasant and courtesy.

My adult son who has his own trucking company. He’s hard on jeans fixing on Diesel engines, and all the other stuff that loads him up with grease and grime. Dickies is the ONLY brand he’ll buy for his work.

He was a Wrangler fan for years, but the first time he bought the Dickies brand he converted. The only reason I gave 4 stars is he came to me after I bought him 2 pair of his jeans from Tractor Supply and showed me a difference in the weight of material from the ones he purchased through another company.

Tractor Supply’s were somewhat thinner in weight than the other one’s he bought. Tractor Supply’s jeans washed up really well with minimal shrinking. He doe buy other work clothes from Tractor Supply and is happy with them especially the denim long sleeve shirt with snaps and their Blue mountain T-Shirts.

Have been purchasing relaxed fit 5 pocket jeans from Dickies for years now, this is by far the biggest disappointment of any of my orders (i typically buy 3-5 pairs per year for the last 5 years) I went to order the 33×32 that I’ve been ordering for over 5 years now only to realize they don’t offer 33 waist any more, So I ordered 34 waist, not a big issue I’ve been wearing some 34 waisted shorts of theirs for a while now.

Upon arrival I tried on one of the pairs to realize the 34 waist on the new jeans is smaller than the 33 waist I currently still wear. Additionally my wife pointed out to me how much (disproportionately) larger the legs are than on any of the others of my relaxed fit jeans.

I’ve always been a fan of the quality to cost ratio of Dickies product but given the diminishing quality and increasing cost the resulting value is falling rapidly. Trying to determine if its best to return and exchange for ??? (since sizing is an issue) or to cut my losses and start looking for a new brand to purchase.

I have worn Dickies jeans for years and love them. They are incredibly durable which is why I only buy one pair every couple of years. I was disappointed that they discontinued my last pair but figured it was time to try a new style.

MAN ARE THESE PANTS GREAT! They look fantastic, so my girlfriend says. They fit perfectly. They have just enough stretch that if I am sitting for long periods of time I don’t feel it around my waist.

They are a great color. I wear them for work, I work in construction, and haven’t had any issues with them and they are durable which is what I expect from Dickies.

These are my favorite jeans for work in my lawn and landscape maintenance business, so you know they take a lot of wear and tear. I have been buying these same jeans every year, for many years, and really like them.

Good fit, a bit loose, which I like, and good durability, at a reasonable price. I was a bit concerned with my recent order though when I looked at the product picture and it looked like they reverted to the narrow coin/watch pocket of a couple years ago, which I did not like at all because it was so small it was difficult to put anything in or take out.

I keep my riding mower key in there. But when I received the jeans I was happy to see they still had the larger coin/watch pocket. Thank you, Wrangler! Please always keep it that way, as I plan on buying more again next year.

If you’re a Levi’s person you can’t go wrong with these 501s. I bought 3 pairs and still love them after years and years of wearing Levi’s. I do highly recommend Sheplers for their very fast despatch plus the fact they use DHL as their shipping carrier to Australia.

I only purchase from stores who use DHL. They are the best company for shipping. Thank you Sheplers. I did have one problem where I could not add another pair of 501s to my basket for some reason.

I was shocked to see that Levi’s now have raw seams inside their jeans. The finishing work on this pair of jeans was just plain shabby. Button holes were ragged and shaggy and barely worked. The rise on these is also lower than original Levi’s.

I’m returning these. Standards at Levi’s have slipped all around. Very disappointing.

I bought these for my fiancé. I love these on him. They not only look great but they’re super durable.

Comfortable Jean that fit good, but simple do not LAST. Fabric is thin which can be useful in hot weather. But I been a wrangler Jean wearing for 30 years. These are by far the worst investment they are last months at best and ripping areas close to pocket stitches with no warning.

Thankfully I have been spared with two pair splitting. Spend 7 or 8 more dollars are real wrangler Jean. This are jean with the wrangler name on them but should have the rustler name on them, no wait they are worst than that.

If you read this review and still buy then and when they final rip, it’s on you. I tried to warn you. DO NOT BUY THESE SPEND MORE MONEY ON THE REAL WRANGLER JEANS.

I am getting tired of stretch jeans. You buy a pair and they start stretching out until they wind up around my knees. The Rustler brand has no stretch material in them. But, for me, finding the right pair is difficult.

I tried on 3 pairs and none would fit around the waist, being too tight. I took them back for a refund/exchange. I was able to fine one pair out of the several same size I needed. No two pair are alike, but this is the only pair that fits my contour.

I’ll keep on buying them. thank you Walmart for carrying them.

I HAD A PAIR OF THESE FOR HALF A YEAR AND THEY HELD UP TO SOME OUTDOOR USE WITH SOME CARE TO TRY TO AVOID RIPS FROM SNAGS. I PREFER THE FRONT POCKETS TO WHAT YOU USUALLY GET FROM A PAIR OF WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS “KHAKIS”.

IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO HAPPEN BUT USUALLY IT SEEMS THE WAY THE POCKET OPENING IS SHAPED PREVENTS WHAT YOU PUT IN THERE FROM FALLING OUT BETTER. SOME PANTS HAVE FRONT POCKETS THAT ARE BEST RESERVED FOR BEING HANDWARMER POCKETS ONLY.

THERE IS NO 5TH POCKET LIKE ONE PAIR OF PANTS I HAD OTHER THAN THESE. THOSE WERE WRANGLER AND ALSO 501 LEVI. HAD 2 WRANGLERS AND 1 501 LEVI THAT BECAME MORE LOOSE AS I LOST WEIGHT FROM A YEAR AGO. I LIKED THAT THE LEVI 501 HAD THE METAL BUTTON FLY TO 5 POCKET ARRANGEMENT COMMON WITH JEANS TODAY TO THE 100 PERCENT COTTON SPECIFICATION.

THE RUSTLER TURNS OUT TO GIVE A LOT IN RETURN FOR THE PRICE PAID. I WOULD SAY THEY ARE AT LEAST AS GOOD AS SOME PANTS THAT COST MORE AND BETTER THAN OTHERS I HAVE TRIED BEFORE AND TESTED WITH USE. THE 501 LEVI SET A HIGHER STANDARD FOR THE ON FEATURE THEY INCLUDE THAT MANY OTHERS DO NOT WHICH IS A FLY THAT I EXPECT TO BE MORE RELIABLE.

I FOUND SOME WRANGLER BUTTON FLY JEANS ADVERTISED ON THE WRANGLER WEBSITE AND THEY ARE CURRENTLY NOT ON MY GO TO LIST AS THEY ARE DESCRIBED AS BEING LESS THAN 100 PERCENT COTTON. I THINK I WILL TAKE ONE STAR OFF FOR THE LACK OF A METAL BUTTON FLY.
