Don’t expect anything extraordinary from these downward firing speakers) I/0 Ports – 9. 5/10 (Zero complaints. It has the right number & variety of ports that’s needed for a laptop. I only wish it had a HDMI 2.

1 port instead of 2. 0 for future proofing) Battery Life – 5/10 (I was expecting a pretty good battery life since it is equipped with 86WHr battery but I’m getting only 4-5 hours on normal usage and only 2 hours when I’m using it for productivity) Overall, the Inspiron 16 Plus is a pretty good productivity laptop, with a few drawbacks: 1.

In Dell India website, its mention that RTX 3050 model boasts 3 fans and 5 heat pipes, whereas it comes with only 2 fans and 3 heat pipes. Dell should look into such misleading information that has been put on Dell India website very seriously.

2. Trackpad behaves erratic most of the time. I believe it’s a software issue that many have already complained about. I use a separate Keyboard & Mouse so not much bothered about it. 3. I was expecting a fairly good battery life from this boy but it has been a below average experience based on my usage.

I would definitely recommend this boy to those who are looking for a great productivity laptop, with great performance and good display at a reasonable price. Just make sure you could live with the above drawbacks that I have just mentioned.

Bearing in mind that this is our # 2 computer that’s used primarily for web, household budget etc. it’s perfect for our needs. I have tried it with a resource heavy photo processing app with RAW files and, while it handles the job, it is a little slower than our main computer which is a 13 inch on the EVO platform.

In the past we have purchased cheaper machines to fill this role but when this one came on special through Dell (when I was about to return a short-term machine from a different maker, we grabbed it and have absolutely no regrets.

The 16 inch screen is clear and large enough to enable us to declutter the desk by removing the external screen we were using and the speakers are clear enough to mean the cumbersome external speakers have also become obsolete.

The smallish form of these new machines means it will easily fit into a computer bag designed to fit 15 inch machines and will (just) squeeze into a 14 inch bag. Performance wise it boots up reasonably quickly, opens apps fairly well the first time they are opened but with a snap subsequently.

Bluetooth works well as does the WIFI although it should as the machine lives within a metre of our modem. The machine comes with some bloat as all machines do but after flirting with a different brand machine for 6 weeks before it was returned for a refund, the bloat level is better than that imposed by some makers.

Nice to have a backlit keyboard on an Inspiron (have only had that feature on XPS models previously). The USB-c will both drive a 32 inch 4K screen I use for photography with my main computer and receive the 65 watt charge that is sent back by the screen to charge the battery.

It also enables the machine to be charged using a USB-c charger. Bonus – one charger to carry if both are taken on a trip. Repeating myself, the Inspiron 16 is perfect in the role it was purchased for, but it could very easily fill in for our main machine, even for travelling as it would add only 600 grams to carry-on baggage.

Extremely happy.

CONS: – First, I need to say how poor the color quality and brightness of the screen is. It’s bad, and I usually don’t notice these things. If you’re planning on editing photos or videos, don’t even CONSIDER this laptop.

Luckily the AMD video drivers allow me to correct the colors partially so I can tolerate them now. The brightness doesn’t bother me because I only ever use this laptop indoors. – Second, OUT OF THE BOX the cooling was terrible – there was a graphite thermal pad on top of the CPU, and a dab of thermal paste.

As a result, the machine was overheating and thermal throttling as SOON as I hit it with a real load like a 3D video game. Once I let it go for a minute and it quickly hit 120°C and shut down. After replacing the thermal paste with some Arctic MX-5 and dumping that pointless graphite pad, the laptop is now acceptable for gaming, and everything else it does very quickly and quietly, I can up the power to 25-30W and with the fan at 100% it sits at 85-90°C.

Upgrade your RAM if you don’t have 16GB too and you plan to play games. – Third, get rid of Windows 11, it sucks for now – download the Windows 10 media creation tool, install it to a USB stick, and install Windows 10 instead.

The license works perfectly fine, there are no issues at all. PROS: – Really cool convertible form factor, the body is very thin and sleek-looking, nice thin bezels – Very fast performance with the 5500U, and you can also set it to battery saver and it’s still quick enough while sipping on power and staying quiet (the fan will be always off pretty much) – Upgradeable SSD, upgradeable RAM, easy to service the insides and replace parts, very good – The keyboard is nice, the backlighting has 2 levels (OFF-low-high), and you can lock the Fn key on/off whenever you like without going to the BIOS – The laptop comes with a USB C charger which can charge your phone, which is awesome, and if your phone charger is 35W or higher, you can charge your laptop with your phone charger.

I purchased this laptop from Dell’s website and feel compelled to write a review due to my disappointment with this expensive laptop. If you want a touchpad that works properly, then this is NOT the laptop for you.

When the touchpad first started playing up very occasionally, only two weeks after purchase, I initially put it down the immature and buggy Windows 11 operating system installed on the laptop. Now here I am a couple of weeks further on again, and the touchpad becomes unresponsive two or three times a day, with the cursor sticking and juddering when you try to move it, all the while somehow causing applications to open.

Sometimes you have to use two fingers to get the cursor to move at all rather than one. And yes, BIOS, drivers and Windows itself are fully patched. Support Assist keeps telling me there are no further updates.

I have now done research on this, and found that this seems to be a widespread issue with this laptop, reported across many threads on Dell’s own forums and also on Reddit. I have tinkered with driver settings and power settings, recommended by various other struggling users on these threads, to no avail.

My 30 years of working in IT and working on countless other Dell desktops and laptops has not been of use in fixing this issue. In short, the laptop I received is absolutely not fit for purpose, and I shall have to open a case with Dell Support.

Sadly I fear I am just over the 30 day return term otherwise I assure you that I would be returning the laptop and asking for my money back. I hoped for better from a laptop that cost me over £1300. I have gone back to using a 12 year old laptop from another manufacturer as at least on this a basic input device like a touchpad works correctly.

Also, the fans seem very noisy, even when the laptop is not under much load, so if fan noise bothers you then this is another strike against this machine.

I am really happy with the display and the design of this machine, it is very pleasing to the eye. It is very powerful as well, tried few graphically demanding games and it was able to run all of them at Ultra settings.

Keyboard typing experience is great for office work, however some of the design aspects could have made it even better. For example, the Numpad does not have PageUp/PageDown, etc. indicators – although they work if you know which keys to play with.

Also there is no LED indicator for NumLock Toggle (CapsLock has it integrated in the key) and it does make a lot of difference when you are doing some coding – I want to type 9, but it scrolls the page down if NumLock is Off.

The Speakers are decent for the price, they are loud enough to be heard even if they are present in the bottom. More importantly they don’t crack up on higher levels. I feel a top firing speaker could have been provided at this price point.

But this is me nitpicking. I would rather have a headset for better experiencing movies, entertainment stuff, and in other cases the speaker does the job more than enough. Dell Support is fantastic – The keyboard in my unit was all okay and was working all fine, but to me it seemed that the left part of the spacebar was a bit flushed with the base, and also the next key (Alt).

They did not seem to pop out of the base like other keys and seemed like they were in pressed state. It did pop out somewhat and was not entirely in level with the base, but to me it just did not go well with such a beautiful machine.

So, I called Dell Support regarding this just to see if those keys could be pushed out slightly. But instead they replaced the entire Keyboard with the Base, this was a nice surprise. Now it looks great! Regarding Battery backup is where I am a bit disappointed.

It is not bad but I expected much more backup. It gives around 4+ hour backup with Battery Saver on, around 50% brightness, Bluetooth On, Wifi On, KB Backlit Off and usual office Work. Now, when I turn Battery Saver Off, Brightness around 80-90%, everything on, and watch some videos, web surfing, etc, it gives around 2 hours.

I was expecting a bit more backup out of this machine and a low usage backup of 6+ hours. Another thing is it heats up pretty quickly. I had expected this since it has a pretty powerful GPU but since it designed as a professional thin laptop, the thermals will not perform like a gaming laptop with much bigger fans and properly working vents.

For me it is not an issue since I wanted this beautiful machine with good graphical capabilities. The SSD provided could have been better considering the price point, but it performs good enough for me.

2000Mbps+ read/ 1300Mbps+ write speeds. The HD Camera is unusable, it is 1MP and even in daylight it is practically of no use. But it is there if required, and it has a privacy shutter, so that is good.

I am loving the experience and it provide great value for money overall!.

This laptop comes with: 120Hz 1080p display 1x 8GB DDR4 2933MHz SODIMM RAM Intel Core i5-10500H @ 2. 50GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 4GB Pros: Really good price (Though there is an RTX 3050 version that would perform better for a bit extra) Runs well for its price A nice laptop to have and large fan intake and exhaust The Anti-glare display is nice to have and I’ve had no issues with light sources disrupting my gaming A HDMI port for quick connecting to a TV or another display A LAN cable jack is convenient and nice to have for stable gameplay, though you’ll need a port available in the room (but there are options for wall outlet LAN transmission as a separate product) Cons: The CPU doesn’t have enough cooling dedicated to it, and can often reach 90C when the BIOS is set to Cool mode, 95C on Optimized, and 100C on Performance mode, the fans will run at about 4900 RPM and can vibrate the laptop a tiny amount.

It’s best to have headphones on while running intensive games. Whereas the GPU has only ever reached 60C running Ark Survival, the Alienware Command Center does have a fan curve application but I found it to be less than ideal and there are better options for managing the cooling.

I’d be fine with the GPU reaching 80C if it means the CPU drops another 10C. I highly recommend turning on performance mode in the BIOS for maximum usage of the hardware even though it reaches higher temperatures.

You’ll only get about 3-4 hours of battery life at best on intensive games, so this definitely isn’t a good portable solution Needs more USB and USB-C, come on, this was made in 2020, at least 1 USB-C port would’ve been nice to have.

As for USB ports, you get 3 (2 on the right side and 1 on the back), which is fine for a mouse, microphone, and external drive Details: Ark Survival Evolved – 30 FPS on low settings, momentarily freezes every few minutes (Though could yield a bit more, it’s also an older game) Valorant – 60-70 FPS, mostly a CPU driven game, but only ever drops to around 40fps and is quite stable Oxygen Not Included – Only around 60FPS but mainly due to the large amount of assets and effects Fortnite – Can do about 30-60FPS depending on the settings, again assets are a big thing due to the RAM size Recommended Improvements: The laptop does support an EXTRA M.

2 2×4 SSD up to a 22x80mm size, which is really nice to have dedicated to games (faster loading speeds) and one for general use. I plan to buy a high speed SSD (or 2) to install so I don’t need an external drive and can load games better.

It definitely needs more RAM (Which is possible), I ran into an issue with Valorant where I could only have Discord and Valorant open before it would give an error saying a lack of memory. I’d recommend a 3200MHz (Needs to be DDR4) 2x8GB SODIMM set (buy both new, don’t mix RAM for best performance) and that would majorly boost the speed of this.

So far I am yet to find a game that can run at 120Hz (other than maybe solitaire or tetris), the 120Hz display is unnecessary, as 60Hz would’ve done just fine for shooter games. Conclusion: Overall this is a nice option if you’re on a budget, though I’d save the extra amount for the RTX3050 version if you need more performance.

Is this a bad laptop? No, it runs well, I haven’t ran into constant problems that make it unbearable. If you’re not into playing new AAA games then this is a nice option. I do recommend resetting the laptop when you first get it to clear out any preinstalled software, and using the Dell SupportAssist application for maintaining your drivers (NVIDIA Geforce Experience handles the GPU drivers).

I like this laptop, I plan to upgrade aspects of it over time, and hope it can stay with me for around 5 years.

I quite like this laptop. It’s thicker than many of the lighter choices sold outside of the ‘gaming’ category, which gives it a nice, sturdy feel, it has admirable cooling and the gray plastic has cheerful little speckles to it, which are almost retro in a classic-console way.

One of the dearest things about it is that Dell thought to give it a ‘calculator’ button, which opens the calculator program instantly, the moment you need to do a bit of math, and that, coupled with the numeric keypad at the side of the full keypad, justifies it being a very sensible and logical choice of laptop for a completely grownup adult, who does business and dignified grownup things such as taxes and legal things on it, and the fact that I also can use it to have a nice game with friends is just an elegant bonus.

The lighted keyboard has a brisk, responsive feel, the screen has a lovely, smooth look with wonderfully crisp graphics and no lag, simply no lag at all, and I can’t tell you when I’ve been more pleased with a gaming laptop.

It does about as well as some of the better gaming towers I’ve built, but doesn’t weigh so heavily in a good padded shoulderbag (get yourself a nice one for it, this one’s worth it,) that you mind taking it over to a friend’s for an old-school LAN party.

One thing I was a little amused by is that it has a classic, round-ended charger, as opposed to the USB-C style popular with the new thinner laptops nowadays, but the designers placed the port thoughtfully at the back, as a gamer would for a LAN party back in the old days so as not to obstruct the Ethernet cable, or as a business user keeping it at a desk would prefer, so as to have the side ports free.

It couldn’t be better done, and one has the impression that actual users had a say in the design. It did upgrade to Windows 11 right out of the box, which was fine, and I did like that there’s a longer battery life than one normally gets for gaming PCs.

You want to adjust your settings, though, as battery life is rather dependent on the setting you choose. I can get a shocking number of hours on a dim screen with a dark theme, but playing my very best game on my very highest settings, not plugged in? I might get a few hours of that at most.

Still, that’s awfully good compared to what I had been using, and given what laptops were like when I began playing computer games (barely useful for ought but the most retro gaming, suitable for business only, out of my budget entirely except as a hand-me-down,) this is decadence writ large for the elder Millennial whose first PC ran Windows 95 and had dial-up.

A Super Nintendo-gray case, NES-orange glow on the keyboard? This feels like it was made with me specifically in mind. I have waited all my life for it and oh, how it delivers! Such a fine thing.

This a very solid laptop, both in function and in construction. The physical structure is very rigid and robust, no flex whatsoever, while being lightweight for it’s size. It has good thermal dissipation, with the palmrest area never getting hot as I’ve seen other gaming laptops in the past do.

The keyboard has good feel, and the presence of a numberpad is a welcome feature, as I use this as a desktop replacement when traveling. The lack of discrete physical mouse buttons (as all modern laptops do) is a major negative for me, particularly if I’m actually trying to play a game on it using the touchpad, as I can’t rest a finger on the button portion of the touchpad without activating the multitouch functionality.

I had noticed (at least in Minecraft) that the touchpad and keyboard seemed to interfere with each other; that may be a software issue, I haven’t tested it with other games to this point. Graphical performance works great, the 120hz screen is almost overkill for regular use, but it does make mouse cursor movement appear extremely smooth.

In terms of software, this device is my first experience using Windows 11, as I’m a Linux user on my desktop, and my prior experience only went up to Windows 7. I can’t say I’m a fan of the UI changes, or the invasive data logging ‘features’ MS has inserted into the OS; thankfully much (but not all) of that can be changed.

As for bundled software, this laptop comes with a free trial of McAfee Antivirus, which I of course did not activate, and plan on removing, as MS’s own antivirus tools are plenty sufficient for competent users who know not to click on links in spam E-mails and/or links with a.

ru suffix. Battery life is reasonable for a high-powered gaming laptop, if you’re just browsing websites you can expect probably 3-4 hours, maybe more depending on how CPU intensive the scripting on the sites you’re visiting are.

Gaming wise, I believe you can expect about 1. 5 hours on average, obviously depending on the software. Port location is good, having the HDMI port and 2 of the 4 USB ports on the back is good for keeping the cable clutter from taking up desk space by the device.

The Ethernet port is on the left side, TBH I think that should have been placed on the back instead of one of the USB ports, and that port placed on the left side, but that’s just my personal preference.

Overall this has been a solid, enjoyable to use device that’s been a great replacement for my previous laptop.

I had bought this laptop with the ryzen 7 for mainly office uses. I was very impressed with its performance. Here in India, wifi 5 is given instead of wifi 6 from intel. However, it makes little to no difference.

It has very fast wifi, an amazing processor, decent graphics and 16 gb of ram is sufficient for every task I performed. It has office 2021 home and student installed with word, excel, powerpoint and OneNote which makes it perfect for students and office use.

It has pre installed windows 11, which is super fast and apps open within seconds. It has good video editing and 3d blender rendering capab I was able to decently run games at 1080p with not too much heating.

The battery life is excellent, with only a bit of heating when you use the laptop while it is being charged. It has exceptional speed, and it boots within 5 seconds. The audio quality is excellent. The keyboard has all standard buttons including 3 levels of backlight keyboard brightness and a small number pad.

It even has a special calculator key to quickly access the calculator and a fingerprint reader for privacy. The trackpad is decent and supports touch to click and some gestures. Overall, it is an excellent laptop for office work, students, businesses and supports medium gaming.

Laptop denouement stream of consciousness Laptop arrived great. some software preloaded great, inc McAfee not so great – I already have this on my broadband contract so it’s a complication. Where’s the Adobe? These codes don’t work? advice is download trial.

…. next day all the info for the adobe arrives and it’s seamless except for removing the trial versions, oh and the codes – thank heavens I wrote them both down. This whole process of setting up – now I’m adding peripherals it’s happening again – would have been less stressful if I’d been told ‘run the laptop, play with what’s there and just let it sort itself out over the next couple of days – if it needs help it’ll ask.

if in (?) working days there is still stuff missing go to your digital locker, ask for help …. but till then be cool and DON’T PANIC. it really would have helped. I love the laptop – still trying stuff out.

Keyboard good – my work laptop has a very poor keyboard. I can watch DVDs using my separate drive (bought with points in part) and I want to have that option because it isn’t limited by location and I may find myself stuck in bed/hospital/house so I want that old fashioned approach though I’d expected plug and play.

Wired mouse great – I can draw left-handed with a mouse (ex microscopy – left-hand microscope right hand pen/pencil notes) so it’s a really useful tool. Still to try headset for zooming family.

I love my new laptop but the experience has been less than ideal. As an education employee I haven’t been responsible for sourcing and setting up my main pc for a long time and Dell were recommended by a colleague.

So after looking at the software packages available for the different models (gives you a good idea of what you can do with the machine) I opted for this. Arrived as promised with the MS software on but not the Adobe.

Tried to find some info, suggestion of installing trial software so I did this. There were codes but Adobe didn’t recognise them, McAfee installed which I didn’t really want. stress, stress. Put laptop away.

Next day the right codes pinged in- so now Adobe are harassing by email about the trial stuff and I’m still getting to know my laptop. Same with the peripheral DVD drive nothing connects at first with updates and downloads suggested then 24 hours later the right downloads are there.

My experience would have been so much less stressful if the laptop had come with a sticker saying -Turn on and leave for 24 hours rather that the advice Software in your digital locker – oh no it wasn’t.

I’d expected everything to be plug and play which it definitely wasn’t. it’s been a clunkier experience than the laptop’s ability would lead one to expect. i love the crisp responsive keyboard for typing, again one of the reasons I picked this machine.

I need a mouse to draw but there is no need for a separate keyboard.

was a bit frustrated when ordering that you could not order with windows 10, windows 11 requires maturing. But decided to try anyway. There definitely has been challenges with the OS and with account creation.

Windows 11 Home is also atrocious, fork out for PRO. home version has advertising, and hard to remove a bunch of things. I had issues with getting drivers and things for anything not microsoft centric (like firefox) working initially.

Also had issues with the windows drivers and external TV. Had to finally go to AMD to get their drivers vs windows to fix the scaling properly. also comes with a bunch of annoying bundled software (mcafee etc) which needed to be removed and took a fair bit of effort shipping via purolator was also poor.

Had to spend an hour trying to correct confusion on west before the street vs west after the street. was it too hard to correlate to the provided postal code? overall the machine is decent enough, but the heat vents are a bit oddly placed in front of the laptop screen, so if you use an external monitor/keyboard and keep the lid closed, it traps the heat.

Additionally with load, it tends to get a bit loud. however overall it seems of decent build quality and more or less serves my needs. However if re-ordering I’d probably l’d consider something else.

I have a 3310 with an i5 and 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It performs incredibly well. The screen is bright and responsive with good sharp colours. However, there are some things that are not so good about the 3310.

Firstly, the build quality. The inset keyboard has gaps around it where it has been fitted, exposing the metal underneath. Also, the keys are a little on the plasticky side. The mousepad is ok, but lacks proper mouse buttons.

But by far the worse thing about the laptop is the webcam. It is almost unusable, with pixelated grainy images- evan with good light in HD mode.

Great lap tops. Decent price. Gets your job done. Have not experienced problems. Don’t need improvement. Great product as is. Haven’t had alternative to compare yo. Would recommend to others. Very happy with the product.

Easy to use and perfect for work. Not too heavy. Enjoy the touch screen. This is my primary work computer paired with extra screens and docking station. It’s reliable and has a good speed. Overall pleasant experience.

The laptop comes with excellent performance for the price. The 80 EU Xe igpu is great for some casual games but isn’t good at modern AAA titles (it’s not meant for that anyway). I bought mine with the i5 11320H.

the fans don’t really start going until you start to push it a bit. I suggest getting 16 GB RAM with 256 GB storage. you can upgrade the storage later, or expand it with the sd card slot. It has amazing build quality with great boot up speed.

Some games like Minecraft and Bloons TD will run smoothly at 120 FPS but GPU intensive games like CS:GO and Doom Eternal won’t run at all. The keyboard is great for general use and some very light gaming.

It has two tier backlighting by pressing the F5 button without holding the FN key. Windows 11 is great for most users but there are some bugs, but they’ll get fixed relatively fast. Battery life with battery saver on with brightness at 30 is anywhere from 7.

5 hours to 9 hours with general use (85% battery). 95% battery will give you a solid 9-11 hours (25% brightness). It would get 5 stars if dell gave it a larger battery (most laptops in this category have higher battery life).

The weight is fine and you can even do some light video editing on it (1080p). the fingerprint scanner is solid and is very good. In conclusion, I think Dell has done a great job with this, and it should last for ~4-5 years.

This computer is not only a super-amount more evolved; amazingly, it is like if someone who was using this computer could magically add whatever they already wanted the computer to be like for them, except -IT’S REAL!!! The new way space is manage, everything is beautiful: the files system; the screen; windows and just the system and processes and the way it runs things – itself; and even the touchpad and keys are fancier than I had imagined possible for computers at all -WOW! Windows 11 is like a piece of clothing for this computer: (meaning) it’s like the computer is the perfect size, and so is windows, [not literally the actual (physical) size; but mentionable: the size of everything is also so perfected!] and so this computer is the true model that helps make windows 11 very powerful and executable; and most providing! Also true that of in it’s ability to be so well off.

There is so much more I could make of this piece of greatness showing into opportunity- but; as I’m only at the “surface” (haha. Get the joke?), I think there is still so much more change that I will discover.

The spec sheet for this product tells a very different tale from the actual user experience. A current Intel i3 processor, 8GB of RAM and a full 1TB hard drive from DELL should at the very least amount to decent performance for running apps, basic web browsing or watching a full-quality video on YouTube.

But from the moment I turned on the computer I encountered no shortage of performance problems. The first few boot-ups and restarts were lengthy, which is to be expected with a new computer as there are many Windows updates to install, but even after all updates were completed and the basic pack-in antivirus was installed the computer on average would take 1 1/2 to 2 minutes to do a basic reboot, and even longer when performing a cold boot.

I’ve learned from experience that the first sign of a bad Windows 10 computer is when you turn it on and the machine can’t even manage to pop-up or animate the start menu smoothly, even though there are barely any programs running and you haven’t installed anything yet, and this computer was a textbook case.

Just one look at the Performance tab within Task Manager confirmed my suspicions. Even when the computer was sitting there doing NOTHING, all of it’s resources, Processor, RAM, Hard Drive, etc. , were all maxed out.

The computer was pure junk, which was extremely disappointing as this purchase was supposed to be an upgrade for my mother’s desktop computer from another manufacturer that was also a poor performing piece of junk.

I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but this Dell laptop took forever to do any basic function. If you opened up an explorer window just to poke around to see what’s on the hard drive, it would take several seconds just to populate the folders.

Open up Chrome or Edge to surf the web, and you’d be looking at a white screen with a buffering animation for five to ten seconds before anything happened. It took a full 30 seconds to completely load the Speedtest.

com webpage, even though I have a 500Mbps down/100Mbps up connection. YouTube similarly would take up to 10 seconds just to populate images, and couldn’t run a video at all without buffering for several seconds.

My experience with this computer was appallingly bad; by the end of my first full day with it I already had it repacked and was on the phone with a Dell CSR arranging to ship it back. As disappointed as I am with this Dell product, this might be one of those “you get what you pay for” situations, as I picked up this product during the recent Boxing Week sale, but even taking that into consideration I had much higher expectations for this entry-level machine, given the brand and the specs.

Had I settled for this product’s performance it would have driven my mother absolutely nuts, and she is nowhere near as picky as I am. In the end I found a competing product from a well-known brand and sacrificed the 1TB HDD for a 512 GB SSD, which made a world of difference, not to mention included several features the Dell Inspiron 3000 did not, including a USB-C port, backlit keyboard and a Full 1080p display.

It also had the 8GB of RAM and i3 processor I required. Naturally, the computer cost a little more, but the blazing fast performance and feature upgrades were more than worth it, not to mention that the product still cost less than what Dell’s most basic Inspiron models currently sell for.

It’s because of that huge gap in price that I can no longer recommend purchasing a Dell to anyone.

I purchased this computer for a colleague because I LOVE my Dell Latitude 5480. I thought this was a new computer- that’s part of the reason I bought this from Office Depot. Nowhere in the title did it say refurbished and I didn’t even notice it was until after the purchase when I saw the refurbish tape on the box.

I guess I should have read every detail of the listed description. I also wasn’t given an option to purchase additional protection plan either (which I wasn’t concerned about at first because I thought it was a new laptop) so I am now stuck with only a 1 year limited refurbished warranty.

I hope this computer works as great as mine does, but I am so disappointed that it wasn’t clearly marked as refurbished in the title like they usually are and has no additional protection option. I probably wouldn’t but this again knowing what I know now.

Dell Latitude 5480 i7-7820HQ It’s a great Laptop. It is a full featured Intel CPU with the ability to use PCIe NVMe B+M key or M key M. 2 Sata 2280MM. In addition, can use a 2. 5″ Sata SSD. The Intel CPU is fast, quiet and run cool.

Can install Linux after disable secure boot in BIOS. Can use two (2) drives at the same time; well, M. 2 2242mm or 2. 5 HDD/SSD. Dell Laptops work great using Linux. The M. 2 2280 SSD work best producing less heat dispensation.

The M. 2 SSD kit is easy to install. Overall, it’s a decent Business Laptop. Not a gaming Laptop period. Tested the WWLAN slot for booting and worked. Ordered a M. 2 2242MM NGFF SSD 512GB to install.

Battery life is not good in this laptop and its charger also does not work and processing time also very slow. I dont have enough time to send it back.

Faced with a laptop shortage due to so many people upgrading and working from home we were lucky to get ours. The Dell is fast, very fast compared to our old units. When I boot up I am online in less than 30 seconds and new pages just appear when I click on one.

The setup was quick and easy right out of the box. I am still getting used to it but, so far, I only wish it had a backlit keyboard. I would recommend this laptop to people like myself and my wife who primarily browse and communicate through it.

I suspect it is capable of much more than I will ever ask of it, The camera and audio perform well on Zoom and Skype. There is some bloatware and we are still getting pestered by ads and reminders but it is dying down.

I have never had a Dell, but find that this is a nice computer that fits my needs. However, it was expensive. The price included a 4 year computer protection program and tech help plan. I was not told that and was not able to accept or refuse the contract.

Therefore, I ended up paying an extra $300 for the computer. Previously I have always been asked if I would like to purchase a contract. Otherwise the computer is a good one and I hope it lasts for years to come.

I am really enjoying my new computer, such an improvement over my old Toshiba that is 12 years old. A little bit of a learning curve, bur I’m learning a lot by figuring it all out. The clerks at Staples were extremely courteous and patient in explaining the new technology to this 79 year old.

Especially Erik and Lucas. I would recommend the product and so far have found nothing to dislike.

After 10 -12 years with my trusty Latitude E6510 (I7 processor), it was time for a new machine. The 3520 with the I7 processor very closely matched the specs for my old machine. So far I am very pleased, with a few annoying issues.

The first one is the keyboard. It is OK that it isn’t backlit, but the printing on the keys is a pale DULL grey that is very hard to see in subdued light. Dell: find some white paint! The second problem is with the separate number pad.

It has a “Num-Lock” key but does not ave a light (like the caps-lock key does) to indicate whether it is on or off. It seems to default to “on” at startup, but after that it is anybody’s guess – usually a wrong guess.

Add a light to the keyboard or at least add an indicator to the task bar. The third issue I have is the very thin user guide information. There’s an icon at the bottom left of the taskbar that seems to open a news feed page or something, but I don’t know what it is called or how fix it or turn it off.

When I select any of the feeds, MS Edge opens for a split second then disappears. Overall I think it is good value for my money.

Speed excellent. Clarity of screen Great! Speakers are a Wow! Although I bought it a few weeks ago, I only set it up yesterday. So upset! The forced setup was annoying, should be able to bypass it, but couldn’t.

Then found the USB ports so tight,they are currently unuseable. Have spent some time inserting, with a bit of wiggling and tugs, an old cable in and out of the ports to try to get them to be functionable.

So far only minimal success. Therefore writing this review on my old laptop. Never had an experience like this before, and this is the 7th computer I have bought in my life, and my first Dell. Its 2022 and a stupid problem like this should not exist.

If I can’t correct the problem I will ask Dell to correct it, or I will have to buy a few hubs or USB extensions and leave them permentantly in the ports, and hope that their ports are capable of adding or removing various devices without the threat of damage to the port or the device.

If you liked the Latitude 3510, then this successor will be welcome news. The quantity and arrangement of the ports are essentially identical. It looks and feels a little bulkier than the 3510, a minor step backward.

And yet again, for some reason Dell found a reason to change the power adapter connector once more, a definite 1-star deduction. I can’t tell you how many perfectly good power adapters I have laying around, with the same wattage rating as the newer ones, all of which have worked on many different and successive models over numerous years.

Lately it seems each new laptop model comes with an adapter sporting a different connector, of which none (adapter) can be replaced in the event of loss, theft, or malfunction, unless I purchase a slew of spare adapters with various connector types to keep on hand.

A minor inconvenience, to be sure, but unwelcome nonetheless.

I was Happy to get my Dell Laptop Very Fast Shipping. Laptop is nIce and the color I was Happy with. I dont like that I had to get windows 10 ( I like windows 7 or 8. 1) I have ordered computers from QVC and Love their Services.

The part I am not Happy with is the Tech support company the use for the LifeTime support that is the worst, I called and was told I have to talk to the Tech by chatting through typing back and forth on computer and let them fix the problem without talking to them.

I Dont Want that so I went to Dell and Paid for Tech Support I can Call and use Tech unlimited times. I wish QVC would contract with Dell Tech again like in the Past The Best Lifetime Tech support. I would never order or pay extra for Premier Tech support again.

I purchased this desktop in December 2018 to replace another Dell desktop that had been running on XP but was failing. I’ve been loyal to Dell products for many years–no longer. This desktop is a dud.

It is so S — L — O — W. The internet browser crashes or freezes frequently. Opening documents and attachments is a complete chore. It will not run google chrome correctly–always crashes. I wish I had never bought this machine and will not be looking to Dell for a replacement in the future.

I received laptop in Febuary 2017. right away I notice that the power cord did not stay in laptop. Receive error message stating power cord not right for lap top. I forgot to call due to my mother’s death.

now in June open laptop to find display screen half displaying. SO I called Dell. they stated that they think screen not cover but I could since it in an they would check it out. So I call square trade.

they also stated that screen and display are not cover. Oh they did off to refund my money I pay for extra insurance. Since 2007 I Have brought multiply Dell from ACC. and NONE are working. So I am out of almost 700 dollars.

Note that this is my first PC purchase in over 8 years, my first laptop purchase in over 14 years, and specifically my first gaming laptop purchase ever, so my opinions are coming from an admittedly dated perspective.

However, I think my criticisms are fair. First, I hate having the numpad on a keyboard laptop, which puts the rest of the keyboard off center. Related to this is the placement of the rather small touch pad, centered underneath the off-center main portion of the keyboard.

I understand why the keyboard and touch pad have this layout on a gaming laptop; it’s mostly due to the cooling along the edges of the chassis preventing these input controls from extending to the edges as they would on something like an Ultrabook.

However, I’m just not used to it at all for regular typing purposes, and I would have preferred the omission of the numpad with the main keys and touch pad more centered. Speaking of the touch pad, it’s easily the worst I’ve ever used by far.

I find it nearly impossible to click well, and even more difficult to drag while clicking as is necessary for GUI-based file manipulation or highlighting text. Thankfully, I’m primarily using an external mouse, so I can live with the terrible touch pad, but it truly is awful.

Lastly, I’ve had some weird stability issues out of the box with both Windows 11 and Dell’s pre-installed applications. After leaving the system on and open for an extended period of time, I came back to find that I was able to move the mouse pointer around but nothing else appeared on the screen.

I tried everything but couldn’t get a menu to pop up, so I had to hard reboot the laptop, only for it to fail to boot into Windows and require another reboot. Fortunately, that one worked, but it makes me worry about leaving unsaved work or game progress for too long, and I feel like I can’t trust the local system to provide reliable access to important data, so I’m going to need to back things up online very often.

The “My Dell” application also kept crashing out of the box when attempting to register my system, and it took multiple update operations across both Windows and Dell software to get it working. It’s a shame I had to figure this out on my own without any warning or explanation from Dell.

In spite of these issues, the system is generally very well built and works well for its primary purpose of gaming. I absolutely love the 165 Hz screen, which is a welcome upgrade considering I’ve only ever played on 60 Hz monitors before.

Game performance is generally good. I haven’t tested any newer, more demanding games yet, as I’m mostly using the system to play through my backlog of older games for now, but at least those run very smoothly at high framerates and maxed out settings, all without overloading the system or causing it to overheat.

In summary, I do find some of the software and hardware issues frustrating, and they would likely be deal-breakers on an Ultrabook where such things matter quite a bit more, but for gaming at home and connecting to external peripherals, this thing gets the job done.
