These Protein Nuggets are a hit in our home! Charlie and Lainey absolutely love these treats. I cannot leave them on the counter, because I will get continual whining for more. I feel good knowing that I am feeding them premium chicken and real apples.

My 3 senior pugs are picky about their treats, and it’s so hard to find a treat that they ALL love. Amazingly all 3 of my babies loved these protein nuggets! They kept begging for more, I better stock up asap.

I wish my closest Target would stock these! I like Blue Dog Bakery because they use quality ingredients to make healthy treats. They also support rescues and shelters.

First off: the quality of the product is without question. It is great and good company practices. You do get what you pay for, but it is really hard to pay for for the majority of people. I actually first discovered this when I was volunteering (and using for myself) the local food bank, and the pet supply store donated some venison flavour that just expired.

My cat loved it, I used it as a chow topper (~1/4 scoop over his other chow). He’s a long, lithe, 14lb tabby who is outside a lot. When I discovered how expensive it was I switched to the lamb, the 2.

2lb bag subscription, and bought it when he would lose weight in the summer otherwise because it is so calorie dense. If I fed him exclusively this food, I would spend more to feed him per month than I do for myself (and I am a chef).

Some caution for purchasers: cats are notoriously picky eaters and may not like some flavours. This is really frustrating if you just spent over $50 on a bag of food. If your cat is a weirdo like mine who only likes “wild” sorts of meats like venison, salmon, pheasant, rabbit, etc but HATES chicken, turkey, and whatever “whitefish” they put in foods, then you are in luck with the venison or lamb.

If your cat is the generic chicken eater, try that (but be aware that mussels are in there too, for those finicky non-seafood kitties). Find a rich friend who will let you mooch a baggie to try on your cat first if you can.

Also remember, cats may take a day or two to adjust to anything new in their bowl, regardless of taste.

I ordered a 5. 5 lb bag of this Ziwi Peak Venison Air-Dried Dog food from another vendor and it showed up grey/dry/brittle. I ordered the same 5. 5 lb bag from Chewy and it was softer and my puppy loved it.

He thought he was getting something special. News for him, this is his main food now. He’s a small thing so I can afford to make this his regular food. I did change my auto-ship to the 2. 2 lb bags – 3 of them, for a total of 6 lbs of food, for the same price as the 5.

5 lb bag. I am thinking the food will be even fresher. Afterall, how many people could be ordering the 5. 5 lb bag. I am guessing more people order the smaller bags as treats vs regular food. It’s crazy you get a half pound of food more for a few more dollars overall.

I did email Zizi about the other batch of food. They responded – they are aware of the dry/brittle complaints and are working to address it. They have new hardware for cutting the food coming in. They are also changing the air-drying process so the food isn’t as dried out.

So you’ll see an improvement in their air-dried food this coming year. I’m so glad they are reading their customers feedback and are making drastic changes to make people happy.

I purchased this premium food after reading the high reviews for picky eaters. My very picky toy poodle did not like this food for some reason. It does have a strong smell of fish, which I don’t think is a problem.

He has been eating freeze-dried food, commercial fresh cooked food, and some high-end kibbles. I purchased this food to give him a change and thinking it will be easier to feed him on busy days and especially if we do road travel.

I was sure he would like the food and was surprised that he would pick out the Ziwi food pieces and chose kibbles instead. I bought a 2. 2 lb bag and he only ate 1/4 cup so far in 2 weeks. I think he doesn’t like it because the food pieces are hard.

I should have bought a smaller bag to try out first. Several reviews have mentioned the pieces in the bigger bag are harder and dried. The food seem to be of high quality, but surprisingly my dog doesn’t like it.

I would recommend buying a smaller bag to start.

Love the locations! Love the high quality brands you carry, like my dog’s: Open Farm. However, I find that a lot of flavors of their freeze dried food and wet stews are out of stock at multiple locations regularly.

I’ve called ahead to find a flavor because the online store says it in stock at a particular location. When I call, an associate often says it’s out of stock and the website just doesn’t reflect inventory accurately.

In my opinion, that renders the websites’ inventory useless. It makes it hard for me to find food in a pinch. I don’t want to have to go back to ordering directly from the company online. I’d like to be able to buy this food in stores, but big retailers like Petsmart and Petco don’t carry this brand.

It has clearly gained more popularity over the years so I think you guys should stock more of the flavors that sell out so often. If you regularly had my dogs food in stock, I would be a more regular customer.

However, I understand that things like this can be out of your control which is why I still think you deserve a pretty high rating. I otherwise love everything I’ve purchased from your store and so does my dog.

I recently adopted a 10. 5 year old hound who had been extremely malnourished for years. He came to us around 10-15lbs underweight and we needed to get weight back on him quickly. To make things a little more difficult, we found out (the hard way) he had a chicken allergy and he was also extremely picky about his food.

Thank god for Open Farm. Their single-source protein choices made it so much easier to find out what he liked, and to make sure we weren’t giving him chicken. For three months we have been feeding him the turkey ancient grains kibble mixed with the new venison recipe, topped with the beef freeze dried raw (his favorite), some of the wet food beef stew, and the bone broth.

He has gained 11lbs back, he has strength in his legs again, and his fur is soft and shiny. I can’t believe this dog is a senior with how healthy and energetic he is again. I am so glad our local pet store had Open Farm.

These are probably the best meals he has ever had in his life.

Why does BEEF contain CHICKEN? We have a 60 lb. Bernese mountain dog as our son’s service dog, and she refuses to eat chicken. Probably due to extensive training with down and stay with chicken. After a recent dental procedure, we switched to PetFresh.

Yes, we’re paying $40 a week for it. Searched high and low for a strictly beef flavor. Ordered online, not in store, and brought it home. She would quickly eat about 1/2-3/4 of what we gave her, but obviously still hungry.

Filled plate again, those pieces remained. Checked the back, includes beef, chicken, and beef livers. So we’re losing at least 2 lbs. of a 6 lb. roll because she won’t eat the chicken. For a clean company with nothing to hide, why not name the flavor beef and chicken roll? Now I’m out the money, and still looking for something to help our girl!.

We have 4 dogs, 10 yr old with heart failure and 11 yr old with diabetes. Both on medication and the other two with allergies. We were cooking them chicken and feeding very expensive vet prescribed food they didn’t want to eat.

Finding this food has changed their lives. After one week we saw a difference. They had more energy, and tales wagging all the time. After two weeks their coats are shiny, tales still wag and they are not itching.

On our third week blood sugar is stable, and they have bright eyes!!! This food has changed all of our lives, and it costs less. It has given our girls so much that the most expensive food could not, their lives!!!! They love a little bison with their meals too, but now they are slimming down which is amazing without being hungry or on a diet.

My canine kids and I are big fans of Lotus, so I decided to try their new flavor, Sardine Loaf. It is a way of providing fish and a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids without the fear of mercury or heavy element poisoning in larger fish (like salmon), since sardines live a very short lifespan.

It is also a novel protein and limited ingredient recipe for my dogs’ extensive food sensitivities. This is the first of Lotus’ “loaf” recipes we have tried, since my dogs love the “stews. ” When I first opened the can, though, I thought to myself, what have I done??? There is a definite fish odor; although it is not bad, it is strong.

It is not as moist as their Stew recipe foods. It has the texture of a whipped mousse. When I combined it with my kids’ previous food to transition them to this new food, this Salmon Loaf definitely overwhelmed the taste and smell of the other food (rabbit).

I really had my doubts as to whether my kids would take to it. And even if they did at first, would they continue to eat it after the transition was completed (especially my finicky girl)? Well, not only did both kids gobble it down during the transition, but they have loved, Loved, LOVED it ever since.

No problem getting them to the dish and to eating every morsel. They even come into the kitchen, as I am preparing their meal, and wait impatiently and loudly! I love the nutritional value, too: Fats at only 4%, protein at 10%, low carbs, antioxidant fruits, coconut oil, and New Zealand Green Mussel for antioxidant and omega fatty acid value.

So, if you or your pet companions want a great source of fish with low fat and a great source of omega 3 and antioxidants, but are not concerned about the odor (it fades quickly with consumption), this one may be for you!.

I have been feeding this since October 2020. My dogs really liked it and it smelled very much like “stinky” salmon and they would have fishy smelling breath after eating it. Got an order last week and it smelled bad and not like fish.

Called Chewy and got a replacement order. It still smells “off” with a sour smell. Tried to contact the manufacturer to see if they changed the recipe but was unsuccessful in contacting them. Sadly I will not be feeding this or buying it again.

I will continue to buy the Sardine loaf unless I detect it has an issue, too.

I was really hoping this would be a good replacement for my day’s previous food, which is no longer available. However, the second I opened it even I was grossed out. The best way I can describe the texture is “gloopy” and like diarrhea (sorry, it’s really gross).

Because the texture is so wet, the can isn’t even filled all the way. My dog sniffed it and just backed away.

**WARNING!!** Our 3 Yorkies got violently ill & our 4th baby died. During our last training session with our dog trainer for my four Yorkies on 10/1, he suggested switching their food to Stella & Chewy’s Raw to help manage their weight and get the right amount of nutrients that I may have been missing by making their food myself.

I purchased the food the following week and began transitioning them. I noticed our 4 yo female had stopped eating intermittently and began having diarrhea. I took her to the vet as an urgent case since it was Saturday, almost 1 week after transitioning them.

They ran tests and gave her anti-diarrhea medicine and said to stop the raw diet immediately as it was making her sick. When we got home from taking her, our 10 yo female started vomiting and having diarrhea.

An hour later she began vomiting blood. I rushed her to an emergency vet hospital where they stabilized her but were at max capacity so they had me take her to another hospital where they took x-rays, ran tests and gave her oxygen to stabilize her breathing and medication to control her diarrhea but stated she probably only had 24-48 hours to live.

The vet said to stop the Stella & Chewy’s because it was bad for them and gave me a replacement dog food. Thankfully she started recovering within a few days. 3 days later our 2 yo yorkie began having diarrhea followed by our 10 yo male two days after that.

I immediately got our 2 yo into the vet where they evaluated her, ran tests and gave her the same anti-diarrhea medication which began working the following day. Other than loose stools our male’s diarrhea got better with his hamburger & rice diet and a little pumpkin, and he didn’t show any signs of distress.

We flew to CA Thursday morning and he was eating and acting fine. Approx. 5 hours later our Pet / house sitter called to say that he wouldn’t eat his dinner or drink water. The following morning she called to say she found him laying down outside which is unusual and he still wouldn’t eat.

I told her he probably had an upset stomach and let me know when she returned from work, if he still wasn’t eating or acting right. She called us crying hysterically that afternoon saying he was in our room and he wasn’t moving.

Unfortunately he had passed during the previous 8 hours. Since the only thing that changed was their food and 2 weeks after starting it and $3k in vetrinary bills, three of our 4 babies became violently sick and on medication and one passed away.

We are in shock, distraught and sickened by what has happened and I will never recommend Stella & Chewy’s to anyone.

my French Bulldog has terrible allergies. Tried other products that eliminated chicken, turkey, grain, potatoes and other ingredients I was warned about. Had her on fish, had her on lamb had her on a very limited diet and the itching persisted.

Started using Stella & Chewys Pork ONLY and after about 2 weeks it all disappeared. No more itching/rubbing to her belly or her paws. She finally can feel comfort. I have not tried any other flavors with her because the pork is working so I am sticking to it.

She gets nothing else. I soak the patties in water for a little bit before feeding it to her and let her have the left over juice and she loves it. The people who are complaining about how hard the pattis are need to soak the patti.

only down side is that this product is difficult to find in local stores. Today is a perfect example because my weekly Chewy order is not here yet and I am out of food for her. Supposingly it will be here this afternoon.

With that. I will be stashing and extra bag away for emergenices so this will not happen again. If you have a bully try this product. my girl is doing great. She no longer needs her benedryl either and I do not have to pump her with any allergy shots.

She is happy and feels good. I have learned by reading ingredients in many other dog foods that they are not what they say they are. A lot of products will say chicken free but still use broth. Stella & Chewy is a good clean healthy diet for your dog that has no fillers and none of the ingredients I have been told to keep from feeding my bully.

Not an easy task to find so I am glad this product was recommended to me by an individual who had a Chinese Crested with severe allergies as well. THIS WORKS! just give it a little time. It is not a cheap product but it saves me lots of vet bills and saves me lots of worrying about how to make my dog feel better.

She has been on it for a good while now. I give her no other dog products/food and no table scraps so my next search will be for a Stella and Chewy treat that she can have and will not trigger any allergic reactions.

As much as I would like to give her many of the goodies/snacks sold for dogs to enjoy I would much rather hold back and see her feeling good. it took me what has felt like forever to figure out her allergy issue so hopefully this works for YOUR doggie too.

I’m only giving this 2 star because my dog seems to like it. I will not purchase this again. I figured I would try this instead of Freshpet because it was getting hard to find Freshpet. I read so many great reviews and got it while I had a coupon at the pet store.

It’s super expensive at regular price. It’s not very easy to prepare, you have to crumble up the Pattie’s then rehydrate them. It smells absolutely disgusting. My dog does eat it and seems to like it but it has caused nothing but issues with her stomach and bowels.

I transitioned slowly like it said on the packaging. She’s super constipated and also had diarrhea on and off and you can just tell her stomach is hurting most days. With Freshpet she was totally different, pooping twice a day consistently.

Never had stomach issues. Maybe reconsider this food if your dog seems to have a sensitive stomach.

My dog used to be on loaf. All the other types made him have upset tummy. Terrible mess 🤢 But then we found the lean and tasty. My Bichon poodle is nearly 8 years old and can still jump as high as my sholder.

He doesnt have an ounce of fat on him and he loves the lean and tasty more than the loaf now. I love the fact you can see the vegetables in the food. My biggest concern is that recently the big pet stores locally AND the local supermarkets seem to have stopped selling the tinned lean and tasty in favour of lean and tasty trays which are tiny and expensive.

I would need at least 4 of these a day! So I am very concerned at the reduction in local availability in the South East UK. I don’t believe there is another food of such good quality and value for money to replace it.

It will be very difficult to replace but I will not be buying trays in replacement as they are just too small and expensive for a medium sized dog with a decent appetite and activity levels. Please ask your area sales managers to try to encourage the sale of thes 400g tins of lean and tasty please.

It will be very foolish of them to stop selling as I belive I have a number of doggy friends who currently buy them.

I breed puppies and have tried many expensive dry foods to ensure my puppies get the best start, but all of the expensive ones have too many ‘ fancy things in” their tummies just are too little to cope with.

As soon as I put them on Butchers which I have always given to my adult dogs tgeir poo firmed up and this is quite annoying because I have also spent a fortune on buying prebiotic and prebiotic etc. When just a feed of Butchers could have sorted them out.

Obs not all dogs are the same but even Mum after having her pups had a very dicky tummy after eating all the afterbirth she got a tummy bug and I tried all sorts to get her tummy to calm and when I went back to Butchers she stopped having loose bowels!! Well done Butchers I will be telling all my Puppy Parents ti not believe all the cxxp you find on the Internet about dogs needing botanical and no grains etc etc.

For instance I think I’m right in saying that rice is a grain, so why do vets recommend you give thus to your dogs when they have loose bowels. Vets are amazing but they can’t know what to feed every individual dog / pet it’s impossible.

Unfortunately, it is sometimes a case of trial and error. And one more point it isn’t even about the cost it is a bonus that Butchers isn’t a high end price. If your dog is struggling with diarrhoea give them a little bit if tripe it is A MAZE IN !! and if you think about it dogs were scavengers way back when.

We decide to change both dogs over to Butchers, as when rehoming Cossie in January 2021 he was not keen on the food we tried to give him. They absolutely loved it, to the point they continuously lick their bowls when its empty, when they see the boxes being brought in the go crazy.

Sadly, Cossie was diagnosed with EPI, so we had to put him on Lypex supplement and change his diet. The Vets had recommended a few options of food, all very expensive, in small quantises and with a dog that does not like dry food, to get a special diet in wet was going to cost a fortune.

So, we got some advice on what we had to look for in the food and found that Butchers Lean and Tasty diet was perfect, we knew he loves Butchers, and it is low in Fibre and Fat, and a lot of natural ingredients.

He has now been on it for nearly a month, and we can see an improvement in his toilet, we have even got Trigger on the same diet as we all know Labs can be greedy haha. Thank you to the Butchers team for all the advice and help they gave us; they are well and truly Butchers Dogs.

My Toby has always been a picky eater even on the highest quality kibble. Toppers helped but he still walked away from many meals going hungry. He also has food and environmental allergies and there aren’t many foods out there he can eat.

I thought I’d better try out a raw diet after hearing how good they are for dogs. Toby is absolutely hooked, he LOVES to eat now! He is on a half and half diet, half Primal and half Kibble. This particular protein food is quite low in calories and not only couldn’t he eat the required amount of food in volume in one day but it would be quite expensive to feed 100%.

These nuggets are quite easy to break apart with a fork and not at all hard. Toby dances for his food now and seems more satiated with his meals. I can’t be sure yet if his allergies are lessening but I do believe he is better.

There is no going back now, Toby loves freeze dried raw food!.

Both of my girls LOVE the lamb and the pork versions of this product. They can’t eat poultry due to allergies and/or seizure trigger, and beef is also suspect as seizure trigger so I stick with meats that haven’t really been known to cause those.

I have super picky eaters. I mean this is the 20th type of non-kibble dried food I’ve tried and either one likes or doesn’t, but both eat this stuff up. No salt which is a seizure trigger so thanks for removing that! Alfalfa is an allergen in me but I haven’t broken out by breaking up the chucks yet.

So far haven’t seen any unusual allergies or problems after a week. If I do, it’s probably the alfalfa if anything. I’d like to see that removed for sure just in case but if they are eating it, I’m not going to worry about it that much.

So hard to find something both of them will eat. It is pricey but you also don’t have to feed them as much. I feed 2 nugget in morning, 2 at night. They also get freeze dried 1 ingredient treats and dental chews as well as a little canned 95% meat when I get home from work as a daily mom is home treat mixed with some natural flea repellent tablets crushed up.

So far this setup is working but the Primal being loved by both dogs is my main excitement!.

It is safe to say that Primal has made a life long customer! Before now I never knew how difficult it was trying to care for a dog with allergies. Being a Frenchie mom has taught me a lot! And one of those things was that Primal is an incredible and trustworthy brand that I can count on.

It has been the only brand that doesn’t cause my pup discomfort. Also since I am able to add warm water to the nuggets, it helps immensely with his hydration and he’s not gulping water and spitting it up anymore.

Their single protein and limited ingredient foods are made with such great quality I can’t compliment them enough and show my appreciation. The venison in particular has worked really well for my dog (and the lamb) since he has a poultry allergy.

I have recommended it to other Frenchie parents over the years and have even gotten some great follow ups!.

Shelly had a lot of really strange symptoms and they couldn’t figure out what was going on. Even after over $1k in vet bills they had given up on her. I didn’t know what else to do. Someone suggested a food allergy so I tried to find healthy, fresh food that didn’t have grain, soy, etc that can trigger allergies.

Not knowing how much she would eat, since she didn’t have much of an appetite, I was afraid of buying refrigerated food. I came across this FREEZE DRIED fresh food option. She immediately loved it and her appetite improved almost immediately.

Within a few days she was starting to put on weight again and after a week or so, she was zooming around the house like her usual hyper self! The food is a little on the expensive side, but since she started on it, I’ve experimented with other foods (including the Instinct brand kibble) and they just had her feeling ill again.

So this food really changed everything for her and I’m extremely grateful. I wish I had tried it sooner!.

I switched from Stella and Chewy. I was tired of having to break the pattie’s with my hands, not to mention it leaving my hands a bit greasy. Not ideal when traveling and no water to wash hands. The large bag didn’t even last a month.

Instinct Raw Meals is perfect! It’s molded into a kibble shape and the size is perfect for small dogs and big dogs too. It’s light weight easy to pour into the bowl and great for traveling as well. The best part is that it’s also freezed dried raw with limited ingredients.

Excellent for dogs that have food sensitivities and allergies. Freezed dried raw is also great for all dogs. As soon as I got the package, I opened it up and let Myles sample a taste. He ate it right away out of my hands without hesitation.

Normally, he wouldn’t eat anything else after he had his breakfast. Surely, he loves it. I started Myles with the Lamb flavor. He’ll try the Beef then Chicken next. I hope this bag last at least a month.

I know this is a pricey food if you use it the way I do (as the complete meal), but it’s so completely worth it. I chose this because I understand how vital it is for dogs to get raw organ meat and even raw, ground chicken bone.

Dogs (and puppies) NEED raw organ meat. There are certain nutrients in raw organ meat that literally cannot be found anywhere else. Basically, I’ve been researching the ingredients to make sure you have in your dog food, and the ingredients that must be avoided.

It’s *extremely* difficult to find a brand that has 0 harmful ingredients, *and* the necessary beneficial ones. Cooked or processing meats actually significantly reduces the nutritional value for our 4-legged friends.

I did try the “Instinct Raw Boost Large Breed Puppy Grain-Free Recipe with Real Chicken Dry Dog Food with Freeze-Dried Raw Pieces” (my puppy is 3mo old mixed XL breed), but I was incredibly disappointed that the second ingredient listed was chicken meal.

Meat-meal, meat by-products, by-products–not good for dog consumption. You literally have no idea what’s in it–bones, feet, health disruptors. Her previous home was feeding her kibble. Most kibble has some form of health disruptors in it.

However, the Instinct dry food caused pile-poo (diarrhea that isn’t quite a soup texture, but is impossible to pick up; more like puree; a little bit thicker than a melted smoothie). I think it was the freeze-dried component, but I can’t be sure.

All I *can* say is that this one, the raw frozen food, allows for healthy poop, excited meals, appropriate nutrition, and healthy development. It’s expensive. At this rate, we’ll be getting a bag every 2-3 days.

But she’s worth it to me. If using this full-time isn’t an option for you financially, I do recommend using it mixed in. It’s so good for them, and she gets so excited when it’s time to eat. Eats all of it in a couple of minutes! If you want to learn more about appropriate nutrition for dogs (and cats), I learned from Dr.

Marty’s dog food / cat food videos. Now, at the end he recommends his own product. I haven’t tried it–very expensive, and freeze-dried–so I can’t tell you anything about it, but I can say that there’s a lot of wonderful information I hadn’t previously been exposed to in terms of dog nutrition.

This was our first time trying Just food for dogs as a free sample program. We received a variety package of several of their flavors to try. It came nicely packed. Dry ice was all melted by the time i opened it but the food was still mostly frozen.

I’d recommend ordering when you know you’ll be home in the summer. I liked that their was a variety of flavors to choose from, we haven’t gone through all of them yet but my almost 4 female cattle dog seems to like it.

She’s a tad picky and likes to have different food now and then. She loves wet and fresh food. The lamb and rice she loved the most, we tried the chicken and rice which was good too, as well as the cod/veggie which didn’t have a huge fish smell which was nice.

All of them i cut open after thawing and move to a sealable container. Easier to dole out. I used this as a supplement to her dry kibble. I really couldn’t see this as a main diet for dogs, but i would recommend it as a topper or intermittent feeding for when a dog feels sick or stops eating.

I really like to support small businesses so the fact that it’s only exclusive to a big box store and now online is an automatic pass for me. The convenience alone doesn’t appeal to me. Also compared to other brands in the gently cooked food race their isn’t a lot of transparency of this brand such as traceability on where the ingredients come from, testing standards, etc.

So if i’m going to pay top notch prices it better be the best dang food out there and have the facts to prove it and not just a few “studies” on their site. But overall i’m thinking about me and all the other people making minimum wage, this is way to expensive to give to your dog as a complete everyday meal especially when most of it is just rice.

I received this product as part of a free sample program and likely won’t be going back. I don’t think our dog will let us! He was on a premium dry kibble diet but the use of fresh, unprocessed ingredients can’t be beat.

I appreciate the nutrient dense, real ingredients used and that they are science backed and highly recommended by Vets. The multiple options available aren’t just flavor choices, they are formulated with specific health concerns/types of dogs in mind.

Our dog’s weight was brought up last Vet Visit for I dig they have the Fish & Sweet Potato that’s a low calorie/high protein made for healthy weight management. Since this was our first time feeding a fresh frozen diet it did take a quick Trial & Errot to figure out the right amount to that and get on the right freezer-fridge-feed cycle.

Our guy is smediumish and we weren’t able to finish our first pack doing the transitioning guide before having to throw some out. Happy to see directly this really isn’t full of preservatives and junk that makes it edible for days on end.

I’d recommend this to any pet owner wanting to improve their pet’s health through a fresh, whole food diet. This would be a great option for dogs with allergies and sensitivities and picky eaters. Senior dogs and dogs with periodontal issues would also benefit – much easier to eat than kibble and much healthier than other wet food options.

Tesla is always stoked for food, but his mealtime excitement went up a notch since making the switch. he tries to do all this numerous tricks at once to get his bowl!.

This is my first time trying out frozen/refrigerated meals for my dog; I always thought the meal programs were too pricey when I researched them before. My dog is on kibble mixed with oatmeal which balances his meal and is less pricey for me.

I was offered the 7 meal pack as part of a free review, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I like that it’s not outrageously expensive as I’ve seen in the past, and that Chewy carries it – so you don’t have to worry about shipping costs.

The package arrives in a well-insulated cooler with dry ice, so it is still cool when it arrives. Meals do not need to be heated up when you use them. You work up to the full amount of the package, starting with 25-50% of the meal replacement, so at first one package goes a long way.

I will say that the packages aren’t the easiest to work with. They don’t re-seal, so you’ll need to store the other half that you don’t use. Also working the food out of the pouch can be a pain as some of it likes to stick to the walls.

I like that the ingredients are all whole foods and right on the packaging, also that you can physically see (and not smell) the food in it, so I feel better about giving this to my dog rather than kibble.

I have an itchy dog during certain seasons, so I also like that I can tailor his diet to his needs at the time. He did enjoy it – gobbled it right up and was looking for more later. I wouldn’t say that I noticed a change in his itchiness, since it is that time of the year.

He’s gassier lately, but that could be from other factors. It does take up quite a bit of real estate in the fridge/freezer and a couple times we forgot to thaw it out in enough time to feed it to him.

I would recommend trying this out for others, however I didn’t see any real difference in my dog. Too pricey and inconvenient to keep buying for me.

I’ve been feeding this to my 5 m/o puppy from the get go. She loves it as a meal, as a topper (I rotate between 3-4 different foods) and as training treats. The reason I’m giving only 3 stars is because I really don’t like that Dr Marty makes no mention of the puppy formula on his website nor any of his advertisements or infomercials.

I was even concerned whether this might be counterfeit food. I have contacted his company several times with questions about the puppy food and have never received a satisfactory response. The last reply from Dr Marty’s customer service rep finally said “we are testing our small dogs formula on puppies”.

Testing? Really?! All this is making me uneasy and I am transitioning to The Simple Truth Project freeze dried raw food instead (a lot less expensive as well!). Too bad, as my late senior dogs did very well on Dr.

Marty’s Nature’s Balance and I was so excited when I first found the puppy formula for my new giant pup Comparing the ingredients between the adult and puppy foods, they are identical – except the puppy food has more calcium and iron, and includes Vitamin A and DHA.

So it’s probably legit, but how can I trust a product (food!!) if the manufacturer is not proudly standing by it? I will continue giving this as occasional treats until Dr Marty himself trusts this puppy formula enough to include it in his ads and on his website.

(I have no complaints about Entirely Pets – fast shipping, etc. ).

So very disappointing. When we first started with Dr. Marty’s the food and everything was wonderful. Our pups were doing very well, customer service was impeccable and everyone was happy. Then I recieved two bad batches that looked moldy and had air holes throughout.

I called and a new batch was sent out. Customer service was wonderful. Two months later the same thing happened. DR. Marty’s has also overdrawn my account twice! I set it up to come out on a specific day everyone month knowing when the funds would be available but starting in September they took the funds out three days earlier.

In October they did the same. I set it up on a specific day for a reason! The worst was today when I found a piece of plastic in my pups food as I was preparing it. I’m so sad! Now I have to figure out another food for my pups and the worst part is that they liked the food.

I have photo’s of the plastic piece and the bad batches but was not given the option to add them to this review.

I have a 5 month Lhasa Poo puppy and 5 year old Shih Poo. Both are extremely picky eaters and won’t even eat meat from the supermarket that I cook for them. I tried everything to get them to eat. I tried various freeze dried raw dinner patties (meats) by Stella & Chewy’s and Vital Essentials and they wouldn’t touch those brands with a 10 foot pole.

I even tried to entice them by adding bone broth to those foods. After adding bone broth, sometimes they would eat these foods for a day or two and then refuse to eat any more of it. I also tried various brands of grain free dry kibble and wet food from various dog food companies and they would still refuse to eat any of these foods.

Worried sick that they were not going to eat any foods I bought and after I spent hundreds of dollars, as a last ditch effort I purchased Dr. Marty’s. It is a hit!! They eat it dry right out of the bag and I don’t even have to moisten it.

As soon as I put it in the bowl, the Dr. Marty’s disappears! The Dr. Marty’s is soft little bites and they always seem to arrive fresh and not stale like the other brands I mentioned. For some reason Stella & Chewy’s and Vital Essentials freeze dried dinner patties either come stale or hard as a rock lately.

I think the fact that the freshness from batch to batch is so inconsistent is the reason my dogs refuse to eat them. Apparently Dr. Marty’s company knows how to keep these little bite sized vittles from turning into rock hard stale pieces much better than the other brands.

The only negative is that it is very expensive and each bag only lasts them a few days. I notice I have to buy 2 bags and both bags last only about l0-15 days. At $64 for two bags I fear I will go broke.

However, it is the only food my dogs will eat and I have no choice but to buy it for them unless another high quality freeze dried product sold by another manufacturer for less comes on the market that they will eat.

If you have picky little dogs, this is the food for you. If you have multiple or larger dogs, this can get very expensive to feed.

Aubrey had been doing some, bottom carpet scooting. She was also scratching a lot. The vet suspected she may have allergies to food. It was suggested I cut out ANY chicken, and try any other protein.

We went through rabbit, duck, venison and pea, and even other brands of turkey. It was getting expensive, as she would eat some, the decide, no thank you. She didn’t even enjoy the wet food given to her! For over 2 years now, Aubrey has been eating Taste of the Wild Prey Turkey, happily and excitedly.

She has never turned her nose up at it, and still begs for more after her meal is done. She has never liked a food this long. On a great side note, her carpet surfing has stopped, she is MUCH less itchy, so very soft, and look at how pretty and clear her eyes are.

She just had her vet checkup and she is as healthy as can be. I buy the large bag, knowing she will eat the whole thing, even if it takes her a while, and that I will not be left with an open half eaten bag.

My other cat, Zetta (not pictured, I didn’t want to tease her), unfortunately has SEVERE allergies, and is on a very special diet. She too LOVED this food. She even breaks into Aubrey’s special food dish and steals some of her kibble.

In good news, Zetta does not seem to react very badly to her extra meals. Other foods would make her itch so horribly, her neck and ears would bleed, and, she lost all her fur on her belly. If she can ever get off her special diet food, I am so glad to know that Taste of the Wild Prey Turkey, will be a good transition for her!! This is by far the best food I have found for my cats!.

For almost all of his life, my cat had been eating wet foods with chicken and a few types of fish. Recently, he started developing an allergic reaction (complete with hives), and our vet suggested that his food might be the cause.

She recommended switching to a food with a different main protein than his past ones, but I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find a quality food with clearly labelled ingredients not containing chicken or unspecified types of fish.

This was one of the only foods that didn’t break the bank and still fit the vet’s recommendations! I am so grateful this exists. My cat loves it, and it even smells like a quality food. Tomato is the 3rd ingredient, and on opening the bag it smells like tomato soup! I like to add a bit of pet safe beef broth, and occasionally a bit of pumpkin and wheatgrass puree I found.

My cat has had no allergic reactions since he started this new diet.

When it comes to pet food I’m a big fan of reading ingredients. I believe the first ingredient should always be a protein (lamb, chicken, Turkey, beef etc) and not a meal, like chicken by product meal for example, since that’s the staple of the food.

Pedigree has never had great ingredients, for example this one’s label for Ingredients states Ground whole grain corn as the first ingredient. That gives dogs mild energy content and very modest nutritional value.

Meat and bone meal are listed second and it’s basically a dog’s version of a hot dog. All the left over parts are thrown in and it has a low digestibility compared to actual meat. Basically it just gets worse from there and in my case my dogs have very sensitive stomach and this would be a disaster.

I start initially with dogfoodadvisor dot com for dog food reviews and recalls then look into the actual quality of foods. This is truly just junk food for your dogs.

The chicken and rice was the only dog food my guy would eat. After receiving a case that didn’t have the same type of ingredients in it I emailed chewy and said the wrong ingredients were in the cans and chewy sent a new case.

Then again. I guess no one was informed of the switch in manufacturer. My guy hates the new blend of food. Won’t eat it. I contacted pedigree and asked what happened and then was told of the different manufacturer.

You would think pedigree would tell chewy so they could inform their customers. Pedigree suggests using the chicken canned dog food. Has the same consistency as the old chicken and rice. I’ve tried that and it’s really a hit or miss.

So now I’m making rice and mixing it in with the canned chicken. I was always on autoship with a case of food from chewy but cancelled that after reading in one review, “you better have a can opener…no flip top”.

So now autoship is out and I drive to another store and pick up. Too bad they switched manufacturer. Product is not liked and I’m going to start looking again for something he really loves and will eat.

A real disappointment.

I usually feed my 14. old dog Pedigree Choice Cuts but since I still have to chop it up for her, I decided to buy this product to save me some time. Omg, was I wrong! It took me a while to realize what was going on because I understand that changing foods can cause some gastro issues but this was beyond that.

3 or 4x at night I had to take my dog out and I could hear the explosive diarrhea. She was also so cranky all the time. Her diarrhea was slimy just like the fat globs you see in this food when you open the can.

I tried microwaving it but she didn’t even want to eat it and it smelled terrible. As soon as I went back to Chooce Cuts, she slept through the night for the first time in 1 week. I see this food has great reviews but this is my experience just in case other people are having it too.

I have an old dog who does not want to eat. I have been trying multiple different wet and dry dog foods to find something that he will eat. After having him turn his nose up at two other different foods, I offered him this food.

He started eating it right away. He loves it. I would highly recommend it for picky eaters. The food is soft and easy for him to chew. It’s bite-size. Apparently the taste must be really good.

Since I have not been able to get the Max Meat Dog Food, I have had to try alternatives. The Real Meat food is aired like the Max Meat and the origin sites of the lamb and fish are given. The texture etc of The Real Meat is very similar to Max Meat and Benny really seems to be excited about the taste! This has been a successful replacement for us! Thank you.

My dog really liked the dog food dried beef. At least now I can supplement his food. I feed primarily raw because he has a mast cell tumor. The raw sometimes makes his bowels gassy but adding the air dried beef helps.

Love love love!! Switched to raw pet food about 3 months ago this brand was top recommended and reviews spoke highly for themselves. It uses high end quality ingredients from well sourced places with least amount of negative exposure of chemicals.

Animals are high quality proteins and organic fruits vegetables. No grains and no fillers!! You pet gets raw meat vegetables they need not dry processed sprayed on crap. This brand is top in my book.

Easy to store use. Daily feeding 6 cups so a 3lb bag lasts 2 days but thats raw food. It’s a decent price considering the convenience. Only think they MUST DO IS MAKE BIGGER SIZED BAGS FOR BIG DOGS. Im tired buying 3lb to 6lb bags.

Please make a 15lb bag and allow us not having to run every two days to store to re stock. Bigger bags needed.

I usually feed my cats ground Prey Model Raw. My deep freezer had come unplugged and I lost weeks worth the food. Natural Pawz was the only store I could find in a 50 mile radius that had anything remotely close to just raw turkey in the form of Stella and Chewys frozen raw cat food.

The store was great and the gentleman working that day was very helpful. I didn’t really care much for the cat food. It has a very strange texture and is obviously factory made. My cats didn’t care. They chowed down.

They only had to eat it for 8 days so I can’t give any review as to how it would effect their skin and coat long term.

Sure you soak it and break it down. But pieces are sooooooo big, it is not fun breaking it down. You need to break down so your cat’s jaw doesn’t slip of alignment or worse, break. This is a big issue for me.

As for the quality, it is high quality. My cat is still getting used to this product. I see him accepting it fully in no time. I would recommend, as quality is one of the better ones.

My dog loves these! I like to have a variety of treats around but these are a regular purchase for me. I began buying smaller bags because they are a little pricey but eventually knew I always wanted these around and now invest in the larger bags.

Because of the price, I use them as a high value treat that my dog has to work a little harder for.

My frenchie can’t get enough of these! Since he’s so little, one patty goes a long way. So far, one of his top foods. I love that I’m giving him high quality food. It’s worth every penny!

You guys don’t understand. My dog is picky as heck but he LOVES these freeze dried bits!! It’s the only way I could get him to eat the rest of his food!! I used to mix these with his dry food and he’d gobble it all up.

We’ve since moved onto wet food because it turns out he has a beef allergy, but I know he would happily eat this any day.

My Westie is truly the world’s pickiest dog,,, he has pretty bad skin allergies and we have been on the hunt for something a) that he likes and b) that doesn’t aggravate his skin so badly i. e. a limited ingredient product.

So we are on a duck kick right now and that seems to be working pretty well for him. I wanted something to go along with the very wholesome canned duck we have found – so we are using the two together to offset the costs of each product since they are both so great and my dog won’t turn his nose up at it.

In fact, he cannot get enough of these freeze dried sliders. I squish them up, add a little water and put with a 1/3 can of duck. So I can get three meals out of a can (feed twice a day) and I use 3 sliders each meal.

If I fed only the SmallBatch I’d need 4 sliders per meal/for 8 a day. But we’re saving a little bit on that as it is more expensive. But when you look at the ingredients it is everything and more we could dream of and very worth the price.

His allergies are calming down little by little. Also he was battling yeast-ey paws. That’s settling down too. The best part is he does love it. I will say – the first time out of the chute, he didn’t know what to make of it but once he got going, he really seems to love it.

It is a big victory for us! Have to transition to it like any other food.

This food is not for those wanting to feed their dog a just a convenient dry food. This is for the dogs who can’t stop itching, who are licking their paws constantly, for the allergic dogs on temeril-p and apoquel.

ugh) cooks at high heat & high temp that kills ALLLLL of the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients that our furry family members need on a daily basis! you’ll never find a balanced meal that is a dry kibble without a horde of man made synthetic vitamins, which pets cannot assimilate as well as nutrients from whole real food! Have you ever seen an overweight wolf?? No? Well, Have you ever seen a wolf eat kibble??! NO because it’s not biologically appropriate!!! MOVE OVER TO THE RAW SIDE.

This brand is my dog’s favorite– and mine for their ethics and quality of food. Ordering from Koa’s house I NEVER get bag that is super crunched or damaged, the patties arrive in great shape. They are on the smaller size but easily re-hydrated with some warm water.

I’m thrilled to have a product to add to our dogs’ diets that isn’t full of a bunch of fillers, grains, starches, and whatnot. Both of my 75+ lb. fur babies do a little dance at dinnertime because they know they’re getting some extra nums; I do a little dance because I know those nums are good for them.

I rotate between the turkey, beef, and pork. We tried the sardine variety, and while the dogs ate it up, I personally couldn’t stomach the smell. :-). I highly recommend the Market Mixes.

My Ruby loves the taste of the toppers. I like that I’m giving her raw balanced morsels on her kibbles. Ruby’s “output” is healthy looking but more importantly is that I am giving her raw food which she needs to be a healthy dog.

My pets love this, but unfortunately the location I would shop has been closed and my order was canceled. My pets love and and I was able to find another pet feed store that would order for me.

Our ACD x love, love, loves it, by far her favourite Ziwi flavour yet. We’ve been using Ziwi Peak as training treats since we bought our puppy home; they’re perfectly sized, have a range of flavours, mess free raw food and can be stashed in containers all around the house for just when you need them.

We usually mix up a few flavours to keep things interesting and one year later and she’s still just as keen for them. We’ve tried the lamb, beef, chicken, lamb & tripe flavours however never has she gone so bonkers for any as much as she did for Hauraki Plains.

She immediately pulled out all her tricks just upon opening the packet, after gobbling down on a few squares she went straight back to the super extra good behaviour in an attempt to gain more treats.

My boy is fussy but loves this along with ziwi Peak Chicken flavour. Ziwi makes up 80% of his meals along with some fresh raw toppers. I absolutely love this brand because it’s good to know he is eating the way he should be- no fillers, no grains, no carbs, no chemicals.

Although it’s expensive a little goes a long way because it’s calorie dense, this food really is excellent quality, so happy my dog doesn’t eat kibble. My boy is 23kgs and only needs two small cups a day of this because it’s air dried raw.

My dog loves his Ziwi dry biscuits, but my cat unfortunately turned up her nose (she is difficult to feed). I will slowly use the cat biscuits as dog treats as they are far too good to waste. Only one complaint I have with Ziwi is that one ends up with rather a lot of crumbs / powder in the bottom of the bag.

The biscuits break up very easily.
