20 Best Degreaser For Mechanic Clothes (2023 Updated)

Based on the many excellent reviews on Home Essentials Direct and elsewhere on the Internet, I purchased this from the U. S. to Denmark to remove a nasty combination of barbecue grease and soot stains from concrete tiles.

Must say I was less than impressed with the performance. Sprayed liberally and left it to soak in paper towel for 1 hour covered with tin foil to prevent it from drying out. Even with a lot of scrubbing followed by rinsing, it only removed a small amount of the stains.

It’s not a bad product by no means, but in my experience other products (Britemax Grime Out, KKD A-Kleen) are at least as effective.

This product was recommended to me by my brother, who manages a large apartment community. I was mortified by the state of my laundry room floor after our ancient oil boiler was removed & I discovered thick oil coating the floor where the much larger unit had been.

This spray worked like magic, as you can see from the pic! I used a flat scrubber pad and brush, to get in small groves in the concrete. I had to change the rinse bucket water 1000 times, but it came off easily with this spray & those tools.

It is a bit strong and I did not have great ventilation, but still tolerable and not a bad smell at all. I would highly recommend it for things like greasy garage floors!.

This stuff is excellent. I live in an urban environment and unfortunately there are many rats in the alley where my wife parks here car. Last winter they made a nest in the engine and left the plastic engine cover and other parts an absolute mess with the greasy mess they leave behind.

I used the spray nine degreaser and a Lisle parts cleaning brush and the engine came out looking like new again. I unfortunately forgot to take a before picture. But the after picture shows how clean the engine was after a simple scrub and washing off with water.

The before picture would have shown a brownish colored film all over the light grey engine cover. Very happy with the results.

I have had this Industrial Strength degreaser from WD40 for about a month now and have used this in so many ways I didn’t even know was possible! I have kids, so, I have stickers stuck to my car windows! Well, this worked wonders getting them off.

I have used for getting sap and tar off my car! Even those pesty insects! I recently had one of my vehicles need a lot of work and this WD40 made this process go way smoother than I excepted! Some parts come out full of grease and give this a spray and boom! Not greasy! The can is a nice big size to keep you going for a long time.

It sprays perfect! No clogs or faulty nozzle. Works fantastic! I’ll be recommending this to all my buddies the possibilities are almost endless.

This is great for any mechanic or carpenter or just a man in general to keep on hand. From working on cars, bikes, or households a good squirt of this and no grease anymore. Used in the bathroom to get the grimy stuff up around the sink.

Used on my oven door to finally get rid of the buildup that I’ve had for years. I also used it to clean up the motor in my Nissan Altima and with every job i have had no complaints. My favorite part is the double nozzle.

Flip for precise spray in a small location or flip down for a broad spray on bigger surfaces. All around a good product.

This works so fast as a degreaser. We had accidentally left our go cart out in the rain for a few weeks and after returning it to the garage it wouldn’t crank beings the chain and every thing else had rusted up from being out in the weather.

We sprayed the parts down with the wd40 and within seconds we could see the parts staring to look brand new like they originally did. We where successfull able to crank it and keep it returning less than five minutes after applying it.

We also used it to spray some squeaky door hinges we where tired of hearing everytime we would open amd close the door. It worked really well and the squeak is gone. I also used it on our engine.

You know when you wash your work clothes and it still looks not dirty but not completely clean? Dingy look! This gets you past dingy look into Yeah! That’s clean.

I started using it alone on work cloths, works fantastic, gets out the oil smell. I recently started added sent boosters and vinegar in the rinse cycle (works better than fabric softener) Work cloths seem to last longer and smell great.

I needed to remove a lot of grease stains from my clothing and thought I’d try this detergent. It worked great and I also use it to pretreat other stains by applying directly on bf the actual washing.

So far, I have not been disappointed and came bk to the website to order more, so thought I’d go ahead and leave my review, in the hopes it could help someone.

I have used many degreasers over my years and I am blow away by this product. Easy to apply, instantly starts lifting dirt and grease, and washes cleanly away with fresh water. I started on just a lawn mower and now am using it on my semi-exotic sports car.

I can’t say enough good about this engine and parts cleaner except it’s a good value as well.

I bought this on a whim some time ago, and it really, really works. It’s so rewarding to literally watch as the grease lifts off vent hood filters when I immerse them in the solution, and much better than the overnight soak in dish detergent they used to get.

Recently used it to clean my oven racks, which had caked on grease from over a year of semi-weekly rounds of baking four pounds of bacon. Dropped it in my kitchen farm sink, and the vast majority came off easily (needed more scrubbing than I wanted, but I think that was because I didn’t use enough degreaser).

I used this today before 4th of July holiday to clean our outdoor grill. We bought it last year and have never cleaned it since. The amount of grease and carbon build up is overwhelming. I’m not even kidding I almost slid and fell on our deck bc of the grease and oil.

I even had to spray it in our deck so nobody will slide on it. Like I said I never cleaned an outdoor grill before and I thought it will take forever to clean it. I diluted it with some water but next time I’m gonna be using some dish soap with water and degreaser and I pour it in a container with spray.

It was very easy to clean. Of course some of the carbon and soot that have already built up and hard to reach areas I wasn’t able to get rid of. But 90% of the grease and soot are gone. It’s looking sparkly and new again.

Well just a little bit. Ready for the big cookout tomorrow and hopefully it will last long enough til Labor Day.

This stuff is awesome! Had a pure grease spill of Thompson waterproofing plus that was absolutely impossible to remove. This stuff dissolved it like a PRO and made for easy cleaning! Love it, don’t be fooled by it’s pretty purple color it’s excellent!.

This did NOTHING for my oven. It isn’t super dirty, just a few splatters on the inside of the door and sides. It did not take anything off. I even soaked a spot on the open oven door and let it soak until it was nearly dry (the instructions say not to let the product dry on surfaces) and then sprayed again to scrub.

Nothing at all came off except for the steam coming out of my ears!.

I never, ever thought I’d be writing a review for a cleaning spray, but here we are. I just moved into an old house (renting) and the vent hood was, to put it lightly, greasy enough to fry every potato I’ve ever eaten.

I prefer to live in a clean place and honestly, cleaning stuff is easier than getting it done or replaced by the landlord, so I opted to scrub the thing. The non-filter portion cleaned easily enough with this spray.

A few spritzes, a light scrub, and voila, it’s suddenly not brown anymore. The filter was tougher, but this spray was an absolute hero. I drowned the poor, nasty filter in spray, let it sit for about 2 minutes, then started scrubbing.

Turns out the filter is a shiny silver and not any shade of brown. Seriously, if you have an extra greasy spot, get this spray and have most of the work done for you!.

This is the best oven or stove cleaner in the market. I love this product, i use this once a week to clean my stove. It does have a very strong smell and surely strong for your hands, must wear gloves before using this.

It loosens grime/grease in 30 second, no need for strong scrubbing, spray it and clean it off in few seconds. It leaves your stove crystal clean, must have!!.

Hey. We use Blaster’s Citrus Based Degreaser to remove concrete from my tools. I have used expensive specialty products to do this and none work as well as the Blaster Citrus Based Degreaser. Try it.

This product works better than anything else at removing industrial paints. When I rebuild spray pumps (Graco Xtreme 90 for example), your “degreaser” has saved me countless hours of tedious labor removing cured paint.

This is by far the best de-greaser I have ever used. Considering that I have been an auto mechanic for several years as well as worked on industrial equipment that is really saying something about this product.

Yes I have had some (only available to commercial/industrial business) that clean a little better, but they were quite harsh and required you to wear gloves. This stuff is Eco-friendly, EPA approved, hard enough to clean transmission pans and oil pans back to near new cleanliness, but also gentle enough to get grease and oil stains out of your laundry.

That’s part of what makes this stuff so great, it’s incredibly versatile. In this instance I bought 10 gallons of it to use in my parts washer. My only word of caution is for people not to use it to remove oil stains from asphalt.

I have read several comments from others who have said that this stuff will break down asphalt. Which makes sense, asphalt is an oil/petroleum based type of pavement.

This stuff isn’t for wimpy cleaning jobs. it’s serious stuff. It can bleach painted surfaces if you are not careful, but it really is a powerful cleaner we have been using for over 20 years. When using it full strength wear a paint mask to keep the mist from being inhaled because it is strong and can make you choke.

In any diluted form it is quite safe to use. But. If you get it on your hands you can feel it sucking the oils from your skin, so wear gloves whenever appropriate. Never ever use this to wash a car because it is very hard on painted surfaces.

It is good, however, for removing brake dust on unpainted wheels, etc. To help make ends meet my wife cleaned homes for years and relied on this stuff for cleaning bathrooms and greasy stove tops above and below the burners.

Her customers were amazed that their stoves could ever be so clean again. For years we bought this at Costco but they stopped carrying it years ago, so we had to default to Home Depot. I am glad we found it here! A way cheaper too! Soapy, scummy shower walls and grout clean up easily with this stuff using it straight, or 50/50.

But I wouldn’t use it on marble straight out of the bottle, anyway. (Check with Oil Eater’s maker for guidance on that). It cleans barbecues like a champ, but again, if it is painted and not porcelainized be careful! And, get this it kills ants instantly!.

I use this in my part washer. Does job remove oil, gunk. but does not job on old oil stain, need put overnight soak and brush it. Bit lots of work. I find this product suitable for light/medium clean.

Not heavy clean, I found other product does job heavy clean remove the old oil stain. I will be happy to use this Oil Eater in a spray bottle to wash my engine bay.

We have a huge skunk that hangs around our chicken coop looking for stray eggs. My border collie is smart, but apparently not smart enough to avoid being surprised by this skunk on a regular basis when she goes out at night.

So I have spent a LOT of time looking for something to take off skunk spray. I tried tomato juice, but it doesn’t get off all the odor for days. Then Technu, which works but is so expensive that I’d go broke buying enough of it to wash the dog.

And then a friend of mine suggested Mean Green. Oh, hallelujah! This stuff works better than anything else I’ve bought and it’s only $5 a gallon! You’d think it would leave the dog’s hair stiff and dull, but with a shot of conditioner after she’s soft and shiny.

I’m careful not to get it in her eyes, but it works just like shampoo everywhere else. And, did I mention it COMPLETELY removes skunk odor? A true miracle product.

I use burdock oil and other oils in my hair to keep it from being frizzy and turning gray. because of this my pillow cases sometimes turn into oily messes if I don’t wash them very often and it’s something regular detergent cannot get out.

I have used industrial strength degreasers the purple kind and all of them work wonders especially if I boil it in a pot with my pillow cases. this method also works wonderfully with ring around the collar.

but when I tried to do that method with this degreaser it did not work half as well as with the industrial degreasers so I’m not as happy with this brand even though it had a low price. There is another one gallon brand of degreaser that is more heavy duty for sale at Walmart which is about twice as much as this, but that one is worth the money.

My neighbors car leaked oil all over concrete between our houses. I could not stand to look at it. I found this and used it. You could see the oil melt and wash away. No sign till today. I’m now looking for it again to clean the front street apsalt.

I can’t stand to look at nasty oil stains in front of my house. I know it will wash away. Hope I find it.

I have been using WD-40 for years, normally to lubricate parts, so I was excited to try WD-40 Specialist Industrial-Strength Cleaner & Degreaser. I did not know they made different products. I tried on different items and I got different results.

I first tried on my gas oven. grease will melt right off but, if it has been baked on for years, this is not the product for that. I then used it on some dirty steel and aluminum tools and it did a wonderful job, they looked like new.

I like that it has a low to no odor. It doesn’t seem that cleaner is dangerous to your skin even though I wore some gloves, the first time using it I just wiped it up bare handed with a rag and my skin is fine but, please wear gloves, it is the smart thing to do.

I use it on an oil spot and it removed a good amount of it pretty quickly. The spray bottle has different settings and a yellow tab on the neck the controls the spray so it is much easier to use than a standard spray bottle.

All you do is spray it, wait a several minutes, then wash or wipe a way with water. If you keep this handy and clean things right away it works really good. I would recommend it for your garage, shop, or kitchen for routine cleaning and for tool maintenance.

Good degreaser. Works well for automotive grease and general household grease, will not work on harder tar or some extremely thick oil based substances. The labeling is a little misleading because it says “Industrial Strength” leading the buyer to think it can cut through any sort of grease or oil which isn’t true.

It does a great job at what it is intended for, and the spout on the side makes it easy to refill from a larger container. This degreaser is non abrasive, doesn’t smell too bad, and is biodegradable.

I found this very effective on cleaning automotive parts. It may not work well for kitchen grease. I think it would be nice to give more examples of what types of grease/oils this product cleans. I wouldn’t recommend this to clean up fatty oils from cooking (like bacon grease), but it has been working well for automotive and other dark greases in my use.

I had a transmission oil line break on my vehicle causing the engine bay to be completely covered by the oil. Fixed the issue but never cleaned the mess. Over time dirt and grime built up and made it look very dirty.

One application of the CRC heavy duty pro-strength degreaser and it was like nothing ever happened. Great product.

Yes, I miss the old style de-greasers. But they are mostly gone now, and too expensive when you can find them. I tested this CRC cleaner heads up against the CARQUEST Chemicals Heavy Duty Engine Degreaser #1030, and there is simply no comparison.

The ONE can of CRC I bought cleaned away ALL of the crud that had accumulated in/around my bell housing, trans pan, and both cross-members. and it was thick! Then I used the Carquest to degrease the front suspension crossmember which also had some oil soaked crud from the rear main seal seepage (less than 1 drop per day).

I used the entire can and STILL had crud remaining. And it was a LOT less than above. The CRC emulsified better and required little to no brushing. The CQ required more brushing and a second application.

This is the stuff. It’s more expensive, but has 20 ounces vs. 15 ounces for the CQ. Overall, it is a much better value and much easier to use.

I see all positive reviews but, here’s why I can’t give one: I used it to clean out a fry pan that I had fried an egg in using bacon grease. There was just a skimming of grease, to clean so I sprayed a few shots of Mean Green on it and scrubbed around it with a plastic bristle brush.

Rinsed it out and there was grease on the bristles and still on the pan. So wanting to clean the fat off the brush, I sprayed the brush and gave it a brisk brushing on my palm. Rinsed that off and my palm was greasy.

So wanting to be sure, after i washed my palm off with soap, I put a little olive oil in my palm, and spread it around with my other index finger, sprayed abt. 4 shots of spray, rubbed it in with my other index finger and rinsed.

My palm was still oily. I just don’t see how this stuff works so good for everyone else. I don’t see it as a capable Degreaser at all.

Can’t say enough good things. It literally cleans anything. I have used it for years as a stain remover on my children’s clothes and now use it on my grandkids clothes. At $5 for a gallon jug-can’t best it.

Spray n wash and other stain removers-even ones with Oxy Clean still doesn’t work as well. From clothes to boats and RV’s-it’s excellent!!!!😁.

Great product. Inexpensive. Cleaned my tub back to its original white. Everybody wanted to take a bath but no one wanted to scrub it. (Used shower instead) Went out and came back with mean green. I poured it into a spray bottle with a small amount of water.

I sprayed the tub and let it sit for about 30 minutes. I scrubbed it, sprayed it again, scrubbed again and the tub was pearly white. Love it.

I have used this product for almost 20 years. Very effective cleaner that leaves no residue of it’s own. Minimal odor that it does have goes away quickly. I work aircraft and automobiles and I strongly recommend this one.
