Best Defense For Week 6 (2024 Updated)

After weeks of dreary gloomy rainy weather my pool turned 50 shades of green- ugh. Not shocking weekly as recommended, not even keeping chlorine tabs in the floater because I just didn’t care since we weren’t able to swim anyway, big summer bummer set in.

Finally the sun appeared and everyone wants to dip their toes again so in went the HTH Shock Advanced (following the instructions on the package) with fingers crossed and swimsuits ready. Our pool is about 6,000 gallons and normally I shock weekly with half a packet recommended for 10,000 gallons but last evening an entire packet was gently sprinkled across the green stinky water with the filter running.

There IS a very strong chlorine fume at first so be sure not to take a big whiff or stand directly over the treated water very long. With sweet dreams of sparkling clear water we went to sleep hoping for the best and not really expecting to swim today BUT SURPRISE our water is clear!! Chlorine level was right at 4ppm so we waited until afternoon to jump in.

So excited to enjoy what’s left of summer in our pool, I really thought it would just get drained and taken down but HTH saved the day!! I’ve always trusted and used HTH chemicals in our pools, since childhood actually, but this was the first time I’ve dealt with the aqua/green mess.

which in a way should tell you something – 40+ years of HTH caring for our pools and no green.

I have recently used a series of HTH Pool Care products. I have used the Shock, the Advanced Shock, the Algae Guard 10, the pH Down and the Phosphate Remover. My family and I spent a big part of the summer at camp, and allowed our 30ft round above ground pool to turn a very green, swampy, algae filled pool.

Upon using the above mentioned products, our pool is now crystal clear. I will say, make sure you read the directions fully and carefully. The shock, in my opinion, is much stronger than any other shock I’ve used.

It works phenomenally, but the smell is strong and sometimes it’s a little harsh on my skin when I’m mixing it. The algae guard is by far my favorite, because it worked so much quicker than the leading brands! A lot of people say that is “foams” but I did not have this issue whatsoever.

I highly recommend HTH Pool Care products. They are effective, and very cost efficient compared to leading brands. I will definitely purchase in the future.

I have the Latham 16′ x 35′ Olympia saltwater pool that is around 15,250 gallons. First, I like that this shock is safe for saltwater. Second, I typically start with 1 packet of this shock as 2 packets is sometimes overkill.

The water in my pool is typically pretty clear, but when I start to see any type of speckle in the water, I first use a package of this shock to clear things up and to be honest, I’ve never had to use a second package.

This shock has always done the trick. I also typically take a water sample into my local pool care company to have it tested. It’s good to note that before shocking the pool, testing pH and chlorine levels should done.

Also, I tend to shock at the end of the day so the sun doesn’t burn off the chlorine. By the morning, the pool is ready to safely use again. Lastly, the 1lb bags make the shock easy to handle. Pre-measured chemicals are always a plus as well!.

I really like this bag. It is pricy, but the quality seems to be there. Good zippers are extremely important and this seems to have them. The material feels strong and will be able to stand up to everyday use.

What do i like about this bag. Versatility, it is 100% a tactical bag. It has the capability to attach knives on the inside pouch, extra mags on the side pouch, a back zipper pouch designed for pistol draw.

It will hold a body armour plate and many other things. It also will double as a great bag for business. Lots of room for a laptop and other essentials when going into a meeting or office. It can be just a black backpack.

I have been using this bag for several months and I am completely satisfied. I also recommend watching You Tube. There are several reviews. It helps a lot when buying sight unseen.

Great light. I own several Fenix lights, the PD36R being similar to the TK22. The TK22 is approx 1/2 longer with a wider diameter head. Both are rated at 1600 lumens and both use the 21700 battery. I prefer the TK22 but the PD36R is a very close second.

Conducting my own test, I selected a tree 1100 feet away. The PD36R does a good job, but when switching to the TK22 the tree is even better defined by the beam. The TK22 has a slightly more focused beam resulting in a brighter beam in the distance test.

In both models the selection button for brightness can be a little hard to find at night, but blocking the beam of light momentarily makes the button easy to find. I don’t wear gloves so I don’t have the issue noted by another user.

I do have the belt clip installed and aligned with the dimmer switch, but again I don’t use gloves– When initially turning on the PD36R there is a green power indicator light but that is only a momentary light, then the problem becomes the same for both lights.

My solution was to attach a clear self sticking bumper pad to the button on each light and now the dimmer button is very easy to find. No problem changing light setting. Even with gloves on the switch is easy to find.

Even though the PD36R can charge the battery while installed, I use the ARE-D1 charger. As noted by other users, problems sometimes arise when charging the battery while the battery is charged in the flashlight.

The ARE-D1 charger is a fantastic charger although the explanations of symbols you can scroll through can be a little confusing–once figured out, a great charger–the TK22 does not have capability of charging the battery while installed so an external charger is required.

Although it is possible to purchase Fenix lights on other web sites, I could not beat the price on the Fenix site once I used the different discounts offered on the site. I use Fenix lights as gifts and each time I gift a light the response is the same–Fantastic light.

I am in no way associated with the Fenix store and the discounts I have received are the same ones anyone can get by shopping at the Fenix-store website. Lastly, I chose not to purchase a 3000 or great lumen light primarily because I am really impressed by the lights I have– I get good battery life and have no heat issues.

This new TK22UE is as awesome as expected. I’ve carried the older version daily since 2013, It’s been through some abuse over the last 8 years and has only needed a few new batteries over the years. The newest version blows the output of the other out of the water.

I thought the old one was bright until I fired this one up. I love them both and expect the same performance and longevity out of the new one.

I am a big Fenix fan and I am in the process of switching all my tourches to use the new ARB-L 21-5000 , 21700 series battery and acquired the TK22V2 to go along with my E35V3. 0 & PD36R. The TK22V2 is a great little thrower, nice tight beam with a nice bright white light, very little spill, fits great in your hands & has a easy UI to operate.

Battery has unbelievable runtimes and will last, even on high. With the above tourches in my inventory, I’m set for anything. You will not go wrong on purchasing the TK22 V2. 0, or any of the other 2 tourches I mentioned.

I have used this shampoo before on my great Pyrenees. My dogs are allowed to go into the dirt, lakes and streams so they do get wet dirty and stinky if you will. I love this shampoo because it doesn’t strip them of the natural or else when you to baste them a little more than usual.

I don’t like my dogs to stink, but I also don’t like them to smell like flowers that’s why I chose the natural scent free. It makes the coat naturally beautiful, shiny and healthy. Being biodegradable is just icing on the cake.

It’s lathers in smoothly and you do not need a lot they are for the price is well worth it. It also washes out easily and leaves no sud behind. Very pleased with this shampoo and other products of earth bath.

This conditioner & shampoo is wonderful and comes highly recommended. My Shiba Inu just came from a Puppy Mill as a RESCUED 7 year old breeding female. She was so dirty, oily, and smelly that it was nearly impossible to be in the same room with her! After her bath her coat color was vibrant, she was soft and smelled so nice.

[One thing I have to add: This product warns not to get it into the eyes of your pet. when my girl gave a good shake some got into my eyes! Ouch! Be careful with this. I used no tears baby shampoo for her head and near her eyes] I will use this product again and sing its praises to anyone who wants a good shampoo/conditioner for their dogs.

This shampoo is excellent for hairless cats – we use it to bathe our two Sphynxs. They came to us from a rescue that wasn’t comfortable washing them and had been wiping them down with coat wipes, but both cats desperately needed a full bath.

We were able to wet and then lather them and this shampoo dissolved 70-80% of the dirt and oils that had accumulated on them within 60-90 seconds. Each bath only took 3-4 minutes and both cats came away looking brand new.

Best part is there are no artificial fragrances and the ingredients are skin safe, so we aren’t worried about them licking themselves after bath time. Highly recommend if you need a quick, effective bath time product!.

My Review for SnapSafe XXL Lock Box, 2 Pack, Keyed Alike: This was my third different company I tried out, and the best among the three. The cable cord is strong, but not the thickest I have seen out there.

However, the quality and value are outstanding. I highly recommend this. Two safes, plenty of keys come with, two cable locks. Safe is very strong, and it locks and unlocks easily. I have bought another safe from another different company at a much higher price, but the quality was poor.

Each of these safes easily fits a 2 inch revolver, but I am sure, it fits more. Two comes in handy for more valuables or that of your friend or family. I have two of these in my car, and working on getting a third.

I suggest study the measurements of what you need to put inside of it and study the internal measures to see if you need to find a larger safe, keeping in mind if it will fit in your car or under the car seat, as the outside external measurements might or might not find under your car seats.

SnapSafe XX-Large with 1. 26 90Lbs magnets. These magnets are Strong. Here are pictures of magnets mounted in an XX-Large SnapSafe. These were mounted inside a SnapSafe inside the back door of my 2014 RAM Travato G59.

Safe is mounted between the back side of the shower unit and the back door of RV. The clearance is 3 inches so these lock boxes cannot be opened from inside of RV without opening the rear door. I was looking for a way that could meet the standards for carrying a firearm in a trunk, for a vehicle that has no trunk or other outside compartment.

These safes cannot be opened from inside the vehicle without opening the rear door and the door will not shut if the key is left in the slot. So it should meet the requirement that it cannot be accessed from inside vehicle, like a Trunk, and is locked in a box.

A firearm could also have a standard trigger lock as a way to provide a second lock, inside a locked box and not be accessible from inside a vehicle. This should pass “Most” Inter-State Federal regulations for transporting unloaded firearms.

Ammunition can be in a separate SnapSafe. These magnets hold the firearm through the foam padding that comes with the safe. Note: Because I mounted these on a wall; I mounted a piece of wood at the bottom of the lock boxes tokeep them from opening past a level point to form a sort of shelf when boxes are opened.

I wanted to avoid the possibility of anything falling out when opened.

Solid box, strong and safe for its size. Includes cable to attach to solid object. Two keys, strong lock mechanism. I have no fear of access by anyone in the house. Of course, the box is portable and could be stolen intact.

Does not provide the security of a gun safe. Arrived promptly well packed. Price in line with similar boxes.

I am using this product for my kid’s speed training and the product looks very promising in terms of use and versatility. It’s still early to see any improvement but I am hopeful with the product’s scientific approach will help my junior kids in the future.

I am using the same with Orange whip and my kids love this one compared to orange whip(Bulky), however, it does the trick. Product seems little bit expensive for juniors and I would recommend to lower price little bit compared to Adults to promote more youth participation.

Training for Junior was little confusing on website and require improvement for youth. I had to call Speed Golf to get more insight about the trainign because stick colors are different from Adult and Pee Wee set.

I will keep posting more review in future as I see results.

Probably too soon to be able to give definite feedback about increase in terms of swing speed (SS system recommends minimum 6 weeks, 3x a day) but plenty of evidence to support this type of overspeed training in other sports.

5 various protocols to work through on their website with just these 3 clubs though, so enough to work on long term. Would recommend (4 stars only because cant see longer term results yet) but definitely will get more measureable results if you have a way to record your swing speed!.

Items arrived quickly as usual. The SuperSpeed sticks seem a good quality, no faults found thus far. I’ve only been using the sticks for a week so I can’t comment on speed gains just yet. Heaps of resources available online at SuperSpeed to help in gaining speed results though.

I’m confident it will work.

I found these to be a life saver for a large wound in a mobile area (back of the neck. ) This adhesive sticks, and the bandage is flexible enough to allow for bending. In a mobile area, the adhesive sticks tight for 6 to 8 hours and I’m sure that would be longer in a non-bending area.

I ended up trimming some of the adhesive strip for a fit around the hairline and that also worked great. It’s been really convenient to just use this, instead of applying cream, cutting gauze and layers of medical tape to fit, or fussing with another adhesive bandage that doesn’t stick well enough.

I do rotate between this and gauze. Though this is much more convenient, I need a break from the strong adhesive sometimes. I only took off one star because the adhesive is so strong that it is not good for frequent dressing changes.

Band-Aid Skin-Flex Large Adhesive Pad is the right size for large incision wounds or large skin area needing protection during healing. It provides excellent adhesion and is easy to remove. Putting it on correctly was more difficult than removing, take time to carefully place it correctly the first time.

It is very flexible so should feel comfortable on hand, arm, leg, or shoulder. I used it to cover an incision on a stomach. As far as the water protection, I took a shower with the pad on, it felt a little damp underneath, but I did not feel I needed to change it the same day and tried to pat dry it gently instead.

In short, it will keep water off during a short exposure, but I am not sure I would swim with it. Then again, if one has a large wound/incision, probably not a good idea to swim (in a public pool) anyway? Also, the size and adhesion level is probably just right for applying & keeping muscle rubs so that they don’t get smeared or rubbed off.

After tripping over the mower chute while walking through my garage, gravity took over & I took a dive. My knee broke my fall as it slid across the cement. Lovely. It was a mess to put it mildly. After cleaning it up, I knew I needed to do my best to prevent an infection & given the size the abrasion only a large pad was going to work.

The Band-Aid Infection Defense Large Adhesive pads came to my rescue. With built in infection control I didn’t have to create a further mess with creams or ointments that inevitably ooze out the sides of traditional bandages and the the adhesive perimeter of the pad kept my wound clean day & night.

Application was easy & I was grateful that when I’d remove the pad to change it, the adhesive didn’t take my skin with it – I was missing enough skin at this point. I’ve already picked up 2 more boxes of of the pads – 1 to finish off the healing process & the another for my next inevitable experience where gravity will be tested.

PLEASE BRING IT BACK! This product is amazing and is the only SPF that doesn’t leave me oily and greasy. But it’s just one more amazing product for oily skin that you have discontinued – Oil Control Lotion, Dermal Clay Cleanser, Skin Prep Scrub all gone and now this!! It’s a shame.

I used to use Dermalogice products exclusively and now each time you replace a discontinued item it’s inferior and I switch to another brand. This is one of two products I now still use of yours. Why are you trying to lose loyal customers?!.

I’ve been using this spf for about 10 years and hands down it is the best spf I’ve tried. It really sinks in and feels lightweight, is great under makeup (I even use it as a base if I’m going out at night!) I have quite dry skin but this, on top of the Intensive Moisture Balance, makes my skin look and feel luminous, dewy, and well hydrated.

Compared with other sunscreens I’ve tried, this actually feels like skincare as opposed to just a sunscreen that sits on top of my face. I know chemical sunscreens get a bit of bad press, but as someone with dry skin, south Asian skintone with a yellow undertone, mineral sunscreens just don’t work for me.

If your next bike trip will be on an E-bike, then this is the tire needed for complete confidence that your trip will be free of punctures …..

This product is great for dry skin. It really leaves skin feeling moisturized and reduces flakiness. Some people have complained that it is difficult to apply, but it is no different than applying a thick zinc sunscreen that takes some time to absorb (applying to a damp face really helps).

From my perspective, this product is a step up from Dermalogica’s Intensive Moisture Balance Moisturizer. That said, 50 ml of this product costs double ($124 +tax) the amount of Intensive Moisture Balance ($64 +tax), and I’m not sure that this product is worth the additional cost.

The product does not leave my skin significantly more moisturized than Intensive Moisture Balance. Additionally, I still wake up in the morning with dry patches and flaking skin around my mouth after applying it at night.

If you’re mindful about cost but worried about dryness, then use Intensive Moisture Balance and apply 100% pure jojoba oil on top. Jojoba is very similar to sebum (the oil your body naturally produces), so it is usually safe for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin (like myself).

This is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used!! I wish it wasn’t so expensive but I will be purchasing it as long as I can ! It makes your skin moistures without feeling heavy , thick or sticky. I definitely have soft glowy skin after using this that does not look greasy.

It wears so well under my foundation everyday and my skin looks better since using this and the vitamin c serum for the last few months. I don’t usually use a full pump during the day as I feel too much comes out so I use a little less (3 mini pumps).

FYI : I’m 38 but everyone thinks I’m in my early 20’s. That’s not due to this product but this product definitely helps as I’ve been getting carded more often since using it and it really does make your skin look more youthful while wearing it.

I love all the features of my new Barbour Beadnell from the fabulous feminine cut, wonderful Rustic colour, lining pattern and colours, handwarmer pockets, large pockets at the front bottom of jacket – big enough for all essentials as well as holding the sweet chestnut windfall haul we found on the way home.

The skirted bottom makes this jacket very comfortable when sitting, riding a bike and when wearing over chunky layers. I did buy the Barbour Betty Fleece Liner too in the same size (size 12) and whilst I can’t zip the liner up to wear it alone as it is too small – it is a great liner for the jacket as when it is zipped in the interactive zip in the Beadnell, there is additional space in front of the interactive zip meaning it fits me when worn as a jacket liner.

I also bought the Barbour Waxed Cotton Hood at the same time – it will be so useful and the Barbour 100% lambswool scarf in the same colour and design as the lining. The scarf looks great with the jacket.

I am usually a size 12, but sometimes have to size up to a 14 due to being size 38E bust, but the size 12 fits well – it’ll be a great fit over a T-Shirt / single thin layer in the Spring/Summer as well as it can accommodate the Betty Fleece liner or down quilted jacket/gilet and it not be too tight on me now.

I purchased it 3 weeks ago and love it. I bought my last Barbour (Beaufort) in 1986 and I seem to have lost it in a recent house move :(, I hope this Beadnell lasts as long as that one did. It’s a far more feminine cut.

The bonus, I found, was the green and gold Barbour pin badge I was hoping for, but didn’t expect, in the pocket.

Amazing quality which I expect from Barbour, I have 3 of there jackets which I’ve owned for years and there still like new! I decided to treat myself to this wax jacket which I’ve had my eyes on for some time now and it hasn’t disappointed at all! The quality is unmatched, it’s amazing.

I love that it has some weight to the jacket, as some wax jackets feel really lightweight and cheap, this one definitely doesn’t. The front pockets are really deep, which will hold plenty of items. I especially love the lined hand warming pockets, there placed at the perfect height.

I ordered 2 sizes as per the reviews, I would say stick to your usual size unless you like jackets to be really oversized. The bigger size was far too big on me, my normal size fits perfect and plenty of room for layers in winter.

I particularly chose this jacket because of the length, I’m 5ft 7in with a long torso, some Barbour jackets tend to come up quite short on me for this reason but this one fits perfectly, covers everything I wanted it to and I’m glad I finally went for it and even better it was in the sale! Also just to add in the pocket I found a little Barbour pin badge which I thought was a nice touch from Barbour and will look smart on the collar.

After careful evaluation as to the size I should order I placed my order for size 12. On arrival and try on I was happy to see I ordered correctly with the help of other reviews. It was the end of the season and our mild California coast weather didn’t allow me to wear the jacket until recently.

Whenever I tried it on, the jacket fit me perfectly and comfortably and I looked forward to wearing it often this winter. It was the perfect weight for my weather. After wearing it several times recently I washed it according to the directions.

After it dried, I was then surprised and disappointed to find that it no longer fit. It had drawn up across the shoulders although the remainder of the jacket seemed to fit the same as the first time I put it on.

Also one sleeve lining was now misplaced. It’s a lovely jacket, perfect for my needs, light weight, warm, plenty of well placed pockets. Now at my request Nordstrom is providing me with a return label according to their very thoughtful, wise return policy and apparent wish to have happy customers.

I have been that, a happy customer, for many years. I’m writing this review so that future Barbour customers might know of potential issues with their purchases, and because I wanted Nordstrom to know of the problem I’ve experienced.
