I am a newbie to the world of Magic: The Gathering. i purchased this deck builder’s toolkit in-store. i recieved a Pact of Negation card from the Masterpiece Series: Amonkhet Invocations. This card is worth $60.

Talk about beginners luck :-).

Absolutely live the new themes, there are for factions and incredible new deck possibilities. The artwork is stunning and the Ixalan theme is very original.

It’s A Good Starting Point For Deck Building And To Get 125 cards And 100 lands…Plus 4 booster packs. And The Price Is GOOD.

If you are a die-hard player this set is not for you, but if you just enjoy playing pokemon and have a child that is just getting into playing this set is great. The strategies are easy to play for any beginner and the decks can easily be upgraded with other cards.

My son and I buy theme decks and just enjoy playing them and then adding to them later.

Solid preconstructed token deck. Needs upgrades but fair Mana base and good start.

Came a lot faster than expected. Adding some great cards to the collection.

These decks offer a nice starting point into Pioneer but need a little improvement to compete at the speeds needed in tournament play. The range of play styles offers opportunities for players to explore game pacing and strategy as they start to investigate the whole Pioneer deck scene.

A good entry point for those wanting to explore something bigger than standard tournaments.

Love how these are stronger decks than the typical challenger decks, I got them as a pickup-and go kitchen table magic decks for when I have people over.

WoTC got it right with this one. Great synergy and a lot of fun to play with. Just make sure to go in pick up in store if you want the actual product. Otherwise they will send you a random precon.

Great value in this product! So many fun and exciting ways to play again and again this game! Even the coven mechanic stands up In casual games! But the real power is taking apart the humans deck and rebuilding it! The zombies deck is good that is most useful as a shambling corpse of the good cards to add to your existing zombie deck!I would recommend taking the decks against each other for a bit first and enjoy the classic battle of zombies versus humans!.

The Innistrad Midnight Hunt Commander decks are by far the best pre-constructed sets that Wizards of the Coast have produced in recent years. There are some great old cards mixed in with some spicy new stuff to make the play experience one to remember.

The decks play really well against each other and can even hold their own against more powerful Commander decks at a multiplayer table. Highly recommended for those looking to get into Commander, or for those simply wanting to add a new deck to their repertoire.

MTG Commander 2016 products are a great way to get introduced into the multiplayer Commander/EDH format in Magic the Gathering. Each commander deck is good to play with straight out of the box, although players can choose to further customise their decks later on if they choose to do so, but this isn’t necessary.

The differing commander decks each offers relatively unique play experiences. For instance, the ‘Invent Superiority’ deck is themed at allowing players to quickly amass an deadly army of artifact creature tokens to overwhelm their opponents, whereas ‘Stalwart Unity’ grants players who enjoy a more defensive/political approach in this multiplayer setting, by offering benefits and incentives to other players, while quietly securing their own long-term goals towards winning.

This set brought me back from a 21 year hiatus when I quit when around 4th edition/mirage. These sets are will balanced and I already tweak them with some of my older cards for casual play. Great edition to my arcade room for company to play when others are doing something else.

Highly recommended if you are coming back and just want to play and not pay insane money for cardboard.

Wizards out does themselves each year with these commander sets. Each deck feels unique and are well balanced and a lot of fun straight out of the box. Commander is an awesome format and shouldn’t be missed by those who enjoy the game.

Keyforge is the latest card game that looks like an endless money sink from Fantasy Flight, of Android:Netrunner fame. So probably best to get a few comparative notes out of the way first: 1) No, this is *nothing* like a living card game or collectable card game.

2) Yes, you can spend £stupid on Keyforge, but I don’t think you’ll want to. The big novel feature with Keyforge – opposed to pretty much anything else – is that every single deck is unique. And you can’t change it, or tell what you’re going to get before you open it.

In theory that means that any deck you get might be utter junk, but of the ten-or-so I’ve seen so far, all of them seem ok. All of them have the potential to explode into a spectacular chain of combos, drawing forth more “oohs” and “aahs” than your average bonfire night spectacular, but all of them have also fizzled like a disappointing roman candle stuck in your back garden in a persistent drizzle.

It’s a hugely swingy game, and honestly you have to be on-board with that. It’s all part of the fun. In any other game that involves you buying ever-increasing numbers of cards you’d play one game with a deck like these and then spend hours optimising some of the.

“interesting” choices out. Not in Keyforge: you’re stuck with what you have. And that’s wonderful. I love Netrunner – I really, really love Netrunner – but I don’t play it as often as I’d like to because I just don’t have the spare time to spend putting together a deck, and on top of that I’m really not that good at it.

So when I do, the quality is pretty hit-and-miss – and then I’m stuck with a potentially rubbish deck (which is all my fault). If it goes badly, I’m not likely to play again on the off-chance I just got unlucky, or played the game poorly – I’ve got to invest another chunk of time trying to fix the deck first.

I’m not saying this isn’t fun – it is! – but it’s not playing a game, and it’s an investment of time, and of money because you need the card pool to work with. I’m aware that Netrunner is now sadly out of print, and that’s a discussion for another day, but it’s just an example I use because I play it more than the likes of Mage Wars, MTG, Lord of the Rings LCG, Game of Thrones and the like.

The same applies to any card game where you have to customise a deck. They’re not just a game; they’re (to some extent) a lifestyle. It’s also terrible. Going back to Netrunner again, I recently played a game that was so tense I had to stop to dry my hands because I genuinely had sweaty palms.

Now, one of the problems with Keyforge is that the theme is paper thin, but I think this goes deeper: I’d invested time and effort into making this deck. It was on a knife edge between working and failing.

You can’t get the same tension without investing yourself in the game, and the pre-packaged popcorn of Keyforge doesn’t do that for you. And here’s where I think Keyforge really suffers: It also does almost nothing in therms of theme or gameplay to earn that sense of investment from you.

Looking at the theme, I can’t even see what Keyforge is aiming for. The cards look fine (though there’s some poor graphic design choices which makes a couple of the types of card difficult to distinguish) and yes, I can see that mechanically the flavour of the various houses marries up with the card abilities but it just feels like playing cards that do stuff in a game.

Which seems an odd statement, but think about it: Unless you’re playing a super abstract game, generally the playing pieces, the cards, the board, are stand-ins for something else. You’re not just playing a card, you’re summoning a wolf or carefully securing your server with countermeasures, or whatever.

I mean, yes, you’re playing a card but there’s more to it. It’s contributing to the story of the game. With Keyforge, I can honestly say that the flavour washes off at the lightest touch. It’s all mechanics.

There’s no story there, and no emotion. The mechanics do work though. The chains of cards you can put together are fun. It’s undeniably satisfying to throw a ludicrous combo down, wipe out the opposing forces, capture all their aember and end the turn sitting on a small mountain of the stuff as you invite your opponent to do something about it with a smug “check” – and it’s also strangely entertaining then being on the receiving end of a similar stream of nonsense as your mountain of aember gets levelled in the very next turn.

But mechanics are the word for it – although you do have a ton of meaningful choices to make each turn, starting with which house to play, as your turn begins you’ll have a bunch of cards that the game makes available to you.

You’re going to essentially pull a few levers and the clockwork of the game is then going to spin off and do a whole bunch of stuff and then you’re done. If you’re looking for any mind games, bluffing or the like.

look elsewhere. But. Sometimes you just want to open up a game, and play without high stakes, without preparation, and without stressing yourself out trying to tell bluff from double bluff. Sometimes you just want to throw cards down and laugh at the stupid overpowered nonsense that you’re each going to get to do and that – thanks to the wonders of having totally different decks – you couldn’t even see coming.

And under those circumstances, Keyforge definitely is worth taking a look at. I’ve played a lot over the past few weeks, purely because it’s very very easy to get to the table. I can play against my 11-year-old son and it’ll be just as much fun as playing against an adult and a lot of that is because it doesn’t rely on mind games, doesn’t rely on deckbuilding and most of all because, despite expectations, despite each card breaking the rules a different way, it’s really quite simple.

Now for a word of warning that has nothing to do with the game, but everything to do with the package you get when you buy it. Shamefully, Fantasy Flight have once again produced a starter set that is incomplete.

They’ve got form for this in the past – releasing starters where you need more than one to play without running out of components – but honestly, releasing a set without the rules in it? That’s absurd.

Yes, the rules are available online, but a physical rule book makes learning the game so much easier. It’s no fun to be mucking around on a tablet or phone trying to figure out rules, and it could have been solved so easily by just putting the rules in the starter set.

I can’t understand what they were thinking. You also get a bunch of tokens in the starter set, but again – these are incomplete. There aren’t, for example, armour tokens. Depending upon the decks you end up with, armour is going to be changing a lot, and having tokens to track it with is almost a necessity, but you’re going to have to dig out something for yourself to do it.

Given that you’re going to have to find the rules online, and given that you have to augment the bits of cardboard, you may as well just dispense with the starter set entirely. Pick up a couple of the archon decks, find a few tokens to use as power, armour and health counters and you’re away.

It’s a much cheaper way of trying the game out and if you like it you can make a much nicer set of tokens and keys than you’ll get in the starter set anyway. If you’re going down that route, here’s a tip for the chain counter.

In the starter set, you get a chain counter card (as you gain chains, your card draw is reduced so you need to keep track of this). I had thought these are the only items that aren’t easily replaced by coloured counters or the like.

But! Get a set of d6. Use them to track the number of chains you have (so, for example, if you have 8 chains, you’ll stick two d6 on your deck, one showing 6, one showing 2). The number of chains is the sum of the numbers on the dice, but the card draw reduction you suffer is the number of dice you have on your deck.

This has become super long, so I suppose a summary is in order: Keyforge is good. Not great, but good. It’s very lightweight compared to other games which expect you to keep buying cards, but with that comes accessibility and relatively low-effort rewards.

The lack of depth is an issue – probably not one that will stop you having fun, but it limits how deep it’s possible to dive into the game. It’s candyfloss compared to the rich Sunday dinner you might have been expecting.

Which is fine if you like candyfloss! But you probably won’t want to be eating lots of it in one sitting. And the starter set is almost insultingly poor – so pick up a couple of these Archon decks instead if you want to try it out.

Played several games of this now and have enjoyed it. The unique deck is a cleaver idea and provides a great low cost way to play a competitive card game. I played magic for a few years and it cost a lot of money.

This is a great price and you don’t need to buy anymore. I have 2 decks that I’ve played against each other and one appears much more powerful than the other. This could be me being a novice and not figuring out my “weaker” deck or it could be just something that happens with the random unique deck as You will always get one that’s more powerful than another.

More plays will hopefully figure it out. Each game has been enjoyable anyway and Would recommend giving it a try if you are even slightly interested in a 2 player card game.

Keyforge is from master designer Richard Garfield. This versus card game for two players with a few distinctives. The first thing is that each deck is unique. So if you buy one of these packs no one else will have in the world! The second is the game isn’t about beating down your enemy but rather forging three keys by gathering enough æmber.

This makes the game feel fresh and engaging, and although you could in theory just but one pack, you will more likely grab a few to try the different combos!.

Obelisk The Tormentor is my favorite of the 3 God Cards, This Structure deck features him and a few really good cards that at this time (spring 2022) also have relevance in the competitive scene. so it’s a nice mix of nostalgia and utility.

If you are starting from scratch, picking up one of these will definitely be a good idea.

Konami Yu-Gi-Oh cards arrived fine and no missing cards in package was sealed perfect, cards are extra sealed inside the little box.

This is a great deck because of some cards like harpie feather duster you are almost self pying the deck. Also you get an Obelisk to play

This is a great theme deck. My 6 year old bought it and is able to play and beat me and my 11 year old. (We don’t play with weakness–my fire decks would burn this grass deck) It’s easy to play but has excellent strategies, including an energy accelerator, card draw options, high hitting stage 2 and basic pokemon.

All in all, it’s an easy to play, powerful, versatile deck.

Worked great until one day it stopped working. My son had been playing it for 10 minutes then it just started smoking and went black. Other games work fine on our switch. waste of 60 bucks! I guess ours was just a dud.

I think that the Cinderace theme deck is the most mediocre of the bunch. Its not terrible, but not amazing by any means. This deck, nonetheless is very fun to play and can be upgraded with the better Cinderace.

Like this cheaper commander by set products. Good way to snag some really nice legends without investing in the yearly commander big release. These Kaldheim commanders are no exception as we get a worthy elf commander.

Just as I’m getting back into magic I bought this and was super fun to use, the blue colour was probably a little confusing to start off with again but started figuring out strategies and tactics for the deck pretty quick, love it.

You get exactly what you expect from a draft booster with these. I enjoy the Greek myth theming of the Theros sets. We don’t have a game store close enough to call local, so I mostly just play sealed with my brother.

These were perfect for that.

Theros Beyond Death set added some fun content to the MTG card base. Lots of excellent choices. Great expansion. Worth the buy.

I knew that Prerelease kits were a bit of a gamble, with pretty high variance, but I thought I’d try 12 of them at the discounted rate. Unfortunately, I opened only a total of 6 mythics, overall (average would have been 9), and I didn’t get a single prerelease promo mythic among the 12 (average would have been about 1.

5). The good news is that the 6 mythics I did open included a Uro and a Heliod, so the quality was there for the mythics, but not the quantity.

The product is a great deal for what’s inside, I would recommend this to anyone who loves Pokémon cards, 12 packs for €54.99 is a great deal

Great product to start constructing your own decks in pokemon TCG.

So I know a lot of people rave about this deckbox and it was rated an A by mtg’s most popular youtube channel, but my own experience has been quite different. There are two compartments to this box, both of which snap off.

The top is a large tray with a large lid that holds 100 double sleeved cards with a bit of extra wiggle room for tokens, etc. The bottom tray holds dice, spindowns, counters, etc. Both of these compartments have a very secure snap on mechanism which prevent the box from opening, even woth dropping or very violent shaking.

The box is very secure. However, this box’s greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. While the bottom tray for dice can be removed with little effort, simply by holding the base and tilting the rest of the box back, the section that actually holds the cards has a much larger lip and is incredibly difficult to remove.

You have to tug amd wiggle back and forth amd pray you’re not going to accidentally launch your cards everywhere. I started off buying only two of these (thankfully) just to test them out, and I figured once I noticed this that perhaps the sealing mechanism would wear down over time and opening/closing would be easier.

I’m glad I didn’t hold my breath. After 3 months of regular use this thing is as difficult to open as ever. I really just think its a design flaw in making the inner lip on the upper compartment too tall.

If the top opened with the same ease as the bottom (still completely secure too), I would have rated this product 5 stars, but instead it gets a 3.

Pretty solid deck box, love the texture on the outside of the deck box, great for storing your dice and counters, my only nitpick is that there is no Japanese Sized deck box for card games that only come in Japanese Sized cards.

If there is market for that particular size of deck box, I at least hope Ultra Pro considers making that size while keeping the amount of cards they can hold at 100+. And maybe look into making an Eclipse variant as well.

Do I recommend getting at least of these deck boxes? The answer; Yes! Yes! Yes! A thousand times YES!.

Very lime green, exactly what I was hoping for! No product problems at all! Will fit 100 sleeved cards, have not slapped in double-sleeved cards yet but I have no doubts it could fit it (and if not, it would come pretty close to 100, give or take 10-15 cards)! Super tanky, and not the easiest to open (a good thing! No one wants to drop it and have all their contents spill out!), but still very smooth in both operations and feel.

Note: Does NOT fit inside of the Dragon Shield Magic Carpet XL product. It will also fit other card sleeve brands inside such as KMC and Dragon Shield alongside with their own brand of UltraPro & UltraPro Eclipse!.

This is a fun and easy to use deck for a relative beginner to the game. Still getting my butt kicked by my son, though.

I ended up getting 12 of these prerelease kits during a flash sale in which they were deeply discounted. I found out that Collector Store had gotten more of these in, and I hadn’t bought as much Core 2021 as I had other sets because the prices weren’t discounted nearly as much as they were during this particular flash sale.

My opens in these prerelease kits were very good, and Core 2021 seems to have a decent amount of value, overall, without having to buy Collector Boxes (most of the value in Zendikar Rising, in particular, was in collector boxes).

This order was delivered the day after I ordered it, as well, so the delivery time was outstanding.

Since I won’t be playing in any prereleases again until I get vaccinated with a vaccine that goes through all of the proper clinical trials, I like to get a few prerelease kits, and I usually wait for a flash sale to do so.

Apparently, Collector Store didn’t have as many in stock as they usual do, so this flash sale had a decent price, but it was not as good as the one that they had for Ikoria. The delivery time was very good, though, as I place my order on a Friday afternoon, and I received it the next Monday.

Overall, I ended up getting 6 total mythics from 6 prerelease kits, which is slightly above average, considering the prerelease cards (42 rares/mythics, total, including them). I ended up getting one each of prerelease mythic (I think it was a Baneslayer Angel), pack foil mythic (I think it was an Elder Gargaroth), and alt art mythic (I think it was a Liliana).

I think there was also a normal Ugin, so overall, I got decent cards from these prerelease packs.

Package was a tad squished. Upon further investigation I come to believe it has been opened from side then glued back. Plastic container had no back which it would from an unopened pack also the deck case top was loose in a new, unopened pack the deck is sealed in plastic.

Grandkids loved them – Played the game and traded cards for hours

Draft Boosters are an excellent way playing magic in a draft/sealed/limited format of Magic while also adding a lot of cool and new range of cards to your collection that can be used for your other decks in other Magic formats, including Commander.

In particular Zendikar Rising offers some very cool game mechanics to play with in a limited format setting including Kicker, Landfall, DMFCs, and the Party Mechanic. A lot of Zendikar Rising cards can be used for Commander which is particularly appealing if you also play Commander as well.

In terms of gameplay for limited format, draft boosters are still the way to go, you can still have so much fun opening draft boosters and the limited gameplay of Zendikar Rising has been very fun to play with.

Constructing decks is very fun with this set because of the dual model cards that can also be used as lands which makes deck creating and assembling very fun in Limited. Plus with the purchase of the Draft Booster Box, you also get a Box Topper non foil Expedition land which has a great border and can be very valuable depending on which one you open! I do highly recommend the product for new, experienced and returning players of Magic!.

– Came as expected. Had the sealed card bonus in it. Had good mix of mythic rates, which I watch for in sealed products and vendors. (i. e. no tampering noticed) – Came ontime and with good price. – Sealed box came damaged, but seal was not broken.

It was not shipped in a harder cardboard box and the edges were broken and it was out of shape. No card damage, but it is midely concerning when the cards could easily be damaged, value decrease by bad shipping.

– Overall happy. I ordered a different MTG product and it came inside a cardboard box so I feel better about the shipping. I’ll continue to watch for damage on cards though.
