20 Best Dash Cam Under $100 (2023 Updated)

It has a lot of useful features, and at least average video quality. The included suction mount and power adapter get the job done. The included SD card is nice, but since it’s not a high endurance type, it will fail before long.

The menu and programming are not too confusing. The recoded files are very easy to download to (and play back) on your phone or computer.

I still have an older model, single camera transcend that still works amazing!! I’m sure this update for me will be just as good. I haven’t yet but I’m looking g forward to downloading the app to get the vids on my phone.

This is a sturdy, low maintenance camera. My only wish is if it had a sleep button.

It’s a nice little dash cam. It does work well and is light and easily portable, especially if you use a power bank to run it. It could be easier to use and made easier to navigate it’s features. I do wish it were easier to turn the audio recording feature on and off, for instance.

There is a learning curve involved and the instructions that are included aren’t always very clear. The 16 GB card it comes with may not be adequate space wise. I did get a high endurance 256GB card which works much better and you can go more than a couple of hours before it asks if you want to overwrite the previous videos, which will come in quite handy if you drive a lot.

The app does not work well. It does install on my phone easily and will open but even when it says that it’s connected, it won’t talk with my phone. It needs a lot of work and I don’t use it though I’ve kept it on my phone, in case the needed improvements are made.

Luckily the videos can be reviewed right on the cam itself, needed videos can be protected so that they won’t be overwritten, and the videos can be transferred to a laptop fairly easily, especially if you know how to transfer items between files.

The suction cup does stick to the windshield well and hasn’t even hinted at coming loose on it’s own. It does have good light gathering ability and the quality of the videos is decent enough, and the small size of the camera makes it less obtrusive.

It can be easily set somewhat behind the rear view mirror and doesn’t block the view. Overall, a good dash cam.

I’ve had this since May 2021 and have had nothing since the day I purchased it. This dashcam is super easy to set up when I’m comparing other products on the market. which I purchased after a long time of research.

I believed this investment was for a better driving experience. The money I spent was worth it. Fortunately, I could record everything that I could prevent. I was a good defective driver. However, a good inventory for evidence that you can record on the go.

I could prevent it. Please remove them when you are paking on hot sunny days. The reason was that I had to save my dash cam. I’m a certified IT professional and a technology enthusiast. Don’t be afraid to buy, buy, and best buy!!.

At $79, on sale, this camera is more than I expected, especially when the videos are viewed through the Windows software application. Though it has wifi transfer to a phone, the microSD card is easy to remove and replace and the Kenwood app on Windows uses the file to display a GPS location map and other parameters of the video while it’s playing.

I had Best Buy install the camera. I downrated it one star because I had to order the parking cable through another vendor as Best Buy doesn’t stock the cable. It comes with a power adapter to plug into a “cigarette lighter” outlet.

Though that makes the unit more portable with its suction cup mount, I wanted a permanent installation so I asked the tech to use the adhesive window mount to attach it just left of the mirror and a bit below.

The tech did a good job of installing the cam and hid the cable, connecting it properly so that it records for 30 seconds if someone bumps into the car when it’s parked. The only time that would be of value is if someone backed into the front of the car while it is parked, but the main advantage of the power cable is that it is wired into the car for a neat installation.

The video recording quality of this camera depends on which compatible nextbase dashcam you purchase, as well as the recording settings that you have. The maximum video quality on this device is actually only 1920 x 1080p 30fps with its other setting being 720p 30fps.

So make sure you check the user manual of your nextbase dashcam first to see what settings you can have. I’m using this rear camera with a nextbase 522gw running in 1440p 30fps, which means that the rear camera only records at 720p 30fps.

However this is still clear enough to see what the passengers in the vehicle behind you is doing, as well as clearly being able to view their number plate. The provided cable is long enough to easily to make it to the rear window of any regular passenger vehicle.

The actual camera ball section is magnetically attached to the mounting system so it allows for the camera direction to be easily changed or attached to a different mounting mechanism. The only downside is that the magnet on the camera is only on the top, which means that the cable attached to the camera, may get in the way in when trying to rotate the camera angle to look in some directions.

I’d been after a rear cam for a while but having the old Nextbase 312GW limited me as this model wasn’t compatible and couldn’t simply be plugged in to my existing cam. I eventually took the plunge and replaced my whole set up, settling on the new Nextbase 622GW.

I hardwired this into my car so it activates as soon as the ignition is engaged, it also enables parking mode when the car is parked up idle. From there on in I could simply just plug in the rear camera and feed the wires back.

The wires are tucked away in the front headlining and down the rubber door seal, fed along the length of the car into the rear and up into the boot via the rubber conduit. It’s discrete as you like and there are no unsightly wires hanging.

To be fair, this isn’t a feature of the cam itself, but I like that it’s an immaculate install. The cam is discrete and is a lot smaller than pictured. It doesn’t obscure my rear windshield and the majority of the time you don’t even notice that it’s there.

The wire feeds neatly up into the boot headlining to give a simple and seamless look with no unsightly wires hanging down. The sticky pad is very durable and sticks to the windshield like glue, I’m not looking forward to having to take it off to transfer when I change my car next year! The magnetic mount is okay and much stronger than I expected, it doesn’t fall off when opening and closing the boot.

It does however rotate slightly with movement so in the first few weeks I was forever having to adjust it to make sure it was straight in order to satisfy my ocd. I eventually stopped this as the very slightly slanted angle that it’s at doesn’t really make much of a difference as it’s only a few degrees, it still captures everything you want it to.

The footage quality is good but it doesn’t always capture the registrations of other vehicles, depending on time of day, lighting, speed travelled at and the speed of any passing vehicles, etc. If it’s right behind you, any reg will be captured, but even above 30mph you struggle to get a reg for anything further away from you.

I’d definitely buy a 4K module if it was brought to the market. Note to Nextbase though – you need to make any future products compatible with previous models! If an updated rear view cam were to be released but couldn’t be used with my 622, there’s no way I’d start again and replace my whole setup.

At £49. 99 it’s slightly overpriced but I’m happy with the quality and the security that it provides. The app seems simple enough to operate and is a major improvement on the cam viewer app for the first gen cams.

Great little camera, but, needs more cable. I installed this in my 2012 Nissan Xterra, which is a mid sized, short wheel base, SUV. My plan, to avoid running the cable near the upper side curtain airbags, was to run from the dash cam, to the nearest a-pillar, down to the floor, and along the kick panels, then back up the rear, and across to the rear camera.

When I got to the rear cargo area, I realized, I was going to be about two feet shy of reaching the center of the rear window. I ended up having to remove all of my upper interior trim, and thread it carefully below the side curtain bags anyway.

An extra few feet of included cable, wouldn’t be that much of a cost difference. And, it’s easier to tuck away extra cable, than try to find an extension on short notice. The picture quality of the camera, paired with my 322GW, is pretty good, the camera has a nice, wide view, and, is easily adjusted.

My concerns going forward, are how well the camera’s magnets will hold position over rough roads and terrain. And, how well the double sided tape will hold to the glass, as it was easily peeled off, and repositioned.

Overall though, aside from having to route the cable where I didn’t want to, the camera seems to be of very good quality, and should serve it’s purpose well.

Overall I would very much recommend this camera to anyone who doesn’t want to spend several hundreds for a dashcam and who desires/requires many must-have functions. No, it does not have voice control and it doesn’t come with a fancy app.

I still have to press buttons to control it and take out the micro sd card to review footage. Do I want those features? Not quite, I regard those features as gimmicky and luxury options. They don’t improve video or audio quality, they don’t make it easier to use (imho) or even less likely to break, and certainly not cheaper.

I bought this version of the A119 from Viofo a few weeks ago and have used it non-stop since then. Besides a small setup error in the beginning, the dashcam has surpassed my expectations quite a bit.

I previously used an Autovox dashcam, which offers decent video quality, however I felt it was still lacking in image and audio quality. I switched the cameras around and now I’m using the Autovox as a rear dashcam, with its second camera recording the interior.

The A119 V3 has become my primary dashcam. The microphone is far superior to the Autovox. It even picks up conversations from pedestrians when I’m stopped at a traffic light with my windows down (also, my car is a BEV, that might help).

The video quality of the A119 is on another level entirely, although both cams are in the same price range. The nighttime video recordings show very little artifacts, the image remains sharp at all times.

There’s no glare of fuzziness to the image and the video recording is smooth. While 1080p @ 60 fps delivers some really nice results, I’m still using the 1440p option, because it simply shows more details over the 1080p option.

Resolution beats smoothness in this case. The license plates of cars in front of your car can clearly be seen, even those of cars driving by. This is by far the most important feature to me. I attribute the increased image quality to the larger sensor in the V3.

The GPS module works as intended. When no GPS signal is received, the camera automatically deactivates the positional overlay of the video being recorded, and, once connection is re-established, activates it again.

This takes only a few seconds. I quite like that. The GPS module itself acts as the camera mount and is attached to the windscreen via a double sided sticky pad. I already re-positioned the cam a few times and used up all the pads included with the cam.

Any double sided sticky pad will do the job (attachment area is roughly 40 x 40 mm) since the camera is very light. The capacitor power supply built into thecamera lasts a few seconds. It is supposed to ensure the current video is saved in case of a severe collision.

I cannot attest to that, I haven’t been involved in an accident, yet ;). The Autovox’ power supply is a tiny LiPo battery, which have a limited lifespan when continuously exposed to heat – something which is often the case when a car parked in the sun.

So you have to know if this an important feature to you. Navigating the menu of the camera is intuitive. It has two main operation modes, recording and non recording. When not recording you can review footage on the cam itself.

It’s a bit finicky in my car, since the windscreen is a such an odd angle and far forward. I have to take the camera off it’s mount to properly use it. Not a big deals though. I’m using 128 GB sd cards (class 10), so when ever there was something noteworthy, I take out the card and plop another one in, in order to review the clips on my PC.

The camera has a motion sensor activation, which could prove to be quite useful, i. e. using the camera as a security cam. There’s also an accelerometer for collisions, when one is in a country with under-performing people in parking situations.

Negative(s): When I setup the camera the first time, the formatting of the micro sd card didn’t work. I drove around a day and wanted to check the footage but I was told that the sd card had to be formatted when I plugged it into my USB card reader.

I’m not sure if I made a mistake when setting it up for the first time or not. The camera would always show an SD card error when the card was not properly formatted. But I didn’t get such an error when using it during the first day and I assumed everything was alright.

After a second format, it now works as intended. Playback of clips on the camera’s screen included. So it was probably just a case of PEBKAC and not the cam’s fault. I have no other criticism. I do not regret buying this camera.

I’ve just had this camera for a few days, but used it enough to get a pretty good impression. This is replacing a Mini 0903 which I had to return for lens focus problems. I installed it in a 2016 Civic.

The camera feels very well built and everything is included for easy installation. I ended up hardwiring it to the fuse box, and everything conceals very well. I really appreciate that the unit and lens housing are all black and very inconspicuous from outside the car.

Pros: -excellent high-res daytime video quality -easy mounting, set-and-forget, inconspicuous from outside -GPS acquires almost instantly -screen saver mode allows the screen and all lights to be off during recording -rotatable lens allows for custom aiming after installation Cons: -night quality is grainy.

much improved over the A118, but not quite up to par with models using Exmor sensors. -no CPL filter available, as of yet -GPS mount makes the unit stick off so as not flush with the window -uses obsolete mini-USB interface -audio is not terribly clear Overall I’m very happy with this camera.

Checks all the boxes except for the Sony sensor which is a little better at night, but on the other hand it has higher resolution during daytime recording. So far the lens has maintained sharp focus when cold and warmed up.

The only other model I was considering was a Street Guardian which was twice the price. There really aren’t any comparable models in this price range with a sticky-mount and capacitor. I will update this review if I come across any issues.

So far I highly recommend it.

#1. It stop recording very first day even dough the camera was still in normal recording mode pretending just like it was recording. #2. It does not stay in highest resolution, it will go back to 1920×1080 randomly.

#3. The photo shot is never larger then 1920×1080 which is useless for reading licence plates. #4. Parking mode set for 5 frames / sec will record sometime slow mo, some time fast but when it records slow mo it will play back only fast motion and sometimes doesn’t record at all.

#5. Not compatible with Win 7, it will play back choppy video, not consistent. Yes I did try different video players. #6. Motion detection is again sometime working, sometime not working. It will write the files sometime in different folder sometime not, and sometime it will split it in two different folders.

It can not be set or used together with parking mode yet the parking mode will sometime work as motion detection – again. only some time. I didn’t test all of the settings but I don’t feel like wasting any more of my time with this toy, bottom line this toy is very far from security device.

Either this is a counter fit unit or piece of junk.

Very pleased with this purchase. Only unit I could find with auto recording for commissions when parked on battery power only, no hard wire necessary. Drove cross country and back with it Picture quality is very good.

Audio quality good. No complaints whatsoever.

Hi This device has a good package content except memory card which was not working. It has a tool to remove device from windshield which was handy. Extra layer of tape was good idea. Installation was not easy.

Actually there is a sticky layer which hold windshield strong but settling up picture tilting and adjusting was hard. It is not able to turn to left-right just up and down is possible. But it’s magnetic holding mechanism was perfect.

It was a good idea. Running performance was poor to me. Its memory card needs to be formatted when it is full. It is not deleting by itself from the most previous footage. It is manual and needs to be formatted.

While driving it is restarting and asking you to format it which is annoying. I couldn’t watch recorded videos from device. You need a computer separately which is not handy. Video quality didn’t satisfy me.

It is focusing on dirts on windshield. Night recordings are not enough.

I am so in love this gadget. The camera is attached to a strong magnetic clip that holds firmly in the windshield. The cord that goes into the auto outlet has an USB connector on the back so that the outlet can be used for something else – THAT IS A HUGE PLUS! I’m not gonna name what camera I did have that stopped working after a week and had terrible resolution but I wish I could put the two devices in a room and let the Roadsight Plus put it to shame.

The device came with a memory card and adapter. I had to buy my own before *insert eye roll* and now that’s money wasted. The cord is super long and comes with a tool that lets you tuck the cord into your outer interior.

I am a huge nerd so I was ready to read the manual but the manual was super easy and pictographic so a caveman could have used it. I give this device a 10/10 and recommend to ALL my friends. I feel so safe and protected having the Roadsight Plus “watching” out for me!.

Using this dash cam on our RV, it is simple to install and pretty much automatic…plug it into a lighter outlet and it just works. It’s a bonus that the plug has a USB port to charge other devices. Initial setup was a little confusing but once you figure out the button sequence not too bad and thankfully the camera remembers the settings after you unplug it.

Hopefully if there is an incident the camera will keep the video as advertised.

This dashcam is great value for the money. You get 1080p video recording on both the front and rear cameras. The camera swivels up-and-down as well as left-and-right, so it’s easily adjustable depending on where you need to place it.

I am really not a big fan of the camera using mini-USB. USB-C has been available for about 7 years; it has long been time that everything switched over. Despite that, it doesn’t really affect the performance of this camera in any way; it’s just a personal gripe of mine.

The unit has a built-in capacitor and automatically turns on and off depending on whether your car is on or off. Setting it up is super simple. Everything is done on the small, built-in screen and the settings are straightforward and easy to navigate.

The large, physical buttons are much appreciated. If you’re looking for optimal performance, I’d recommend you figure out a way to add some sort of neutral density (ND) filter to the lens. That will allow you to filter out the glare that you sometimes get during daytime.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there are any dedicated ND filters you can buy for this dashcam; however, nothing is stopping you from using a general, all-purpose, universal filter and pasting it over the lens.

The camera quality (1080p at 30 frames per second) is just fine for most consumers’ needs. The color accuracy is pretty good and I never felt like the picture quality was dull, too blurry, or inaccurate.

One suboptimal aspect of this dashcam is night-time recording. You get reduced image quality at night-time, but that’s the case for every dash cam in existence. There’s just less light hitting the image sensor.

You can somewhat make up for this by enabling the HDR filter in the settings, and it does slightly improve the picture quality at night. The trade-off is that there ends up being a bit more motion blur than normal, so reading license plates becomes slightly worse with HDR on.

I don’t personally see a need to turn HDR on. It’s a dash cam, not a showpiece television set where you set it to ‘Vivid’ and max out the saturation in hopes of getting peoples’ attention. If anything, having more ‘boring’ (but accurate) colors is better for this product.

The more accurate you can be, the better your case if something ever happens to you or your car. ‘You want a purple car to actually appear purple, if that makes sense. Overall, I’d highly recommend this dash cam at full price ($100).

It often goes on sale for $80, but I did see it for $70 as a deal of the day. If you’re on the fence, I’d recommend you just buy it and try it out. Setting it up is simple, and you have 15 days to return it at any Best Buy with no hassle (60 if you’re a TotalTech member).

Everyone should have a dash cam in their car, and this is a good beginner candidate. You get front and rear-facing recording at a relatively inexpensive price. The rear-facing camera is actually surprisingly good, and more than competent to record the inside of your cabin at night (to show what you were doing during an accident, or to record your passengers).

I say: don’t hesitate to give this a try. I liked mine enough that I bought a second one for my girlfriend to have in her car.

Unit is all plastic. However, for the price I paid it was worth it ($30 off regular price). Not much instructions included, however, as with any electronic gadget just play with it for a few minutes and you’ll figure it out.

The screen is quite small, and automatically turns off 1 or 3 minutes after the car is started. (You have to set your preference to 1 or 3 minutes). You can also set the camera view to show the front view, rear view or both (picture in picture).

The rear view basically just shows the inside of your car. My camera is positioned behind the rear view mirror so the rear camera is basically useless for me. As for the longevity of this thing, only time will tell.

Ordering this dash cam was perfect and was easy to do online and be able to pick it up at a local store. As soon as I received it, I went ahead and installed it at home. It was easy to do and setting up the cam was easy peasy.

It comes with the camera, cables, zip ties, tools to install, wire managers, wipes for cleaning the windshield and a 32 gb microSD card. It was a little difficult to hide the cables in our Yukon XL, but that was ok because we figured it out.

The cigarette lighter charger has two charging ports on it, but I just plugged it into one our usb ports in the car and it works perfect. At first the camera didn’t want to connect to my iPhone 11 Max Pro, but I realized that it was user error.

Once the camera did connect it was easy to stream to see what the dash cam would look like and I’ve already captured a few things just in riding around doing errands today. If you’re looking for a good quality dash cam for something that won’t cost you an arm.

The Scosche NEXS10064-ET Full HD Smart Windshield Cam Powered by Nexar with Adhesive Mount and 64GB Micro-SD Card is reealy a cool gadget. It easily installed using the adhesive strips. It comes with a 64 gb micro sd card, which is expandable to 256 gb if you feel 64 is not enough memory.

It also is equipped with a 1080P full HD 140 degree wide angle lens. The Nexar App is free as well as free cloud storage, which is combatable with either IPhone or android devices. I’m not too tech savvy so I need my daughter to pair my phone to it The camera has a quick release dock to enable easy removal to put in secure place when not in use.

Besides recording the usual driving events I am looking forward to possibly capturing the interesting events that in the past were gone and out of sight by the time we got our phone cameras ready. Such as a bear running in front of our car along a dirt road near our cottage up North, or when three moose crossed in front of our truck.

The Scosche NEXS10032-ET Dash Cam is a nicely sized camera which attaches easily out of driving sight. Assembly and installation is easy. The problem with this dash cam is that it takes an enormous amount of time to get it to pair with a phone (Iphone used here).

I have installed the Nexar app that is needed to use the dash, however the dash cam will not pair with my phone. I have gone through every step multiple (10+) times to get this to work. I have gone through the FAQs and visited forums, but nothing can get this device to work.

Both WIFI and Bluetooth are needed for this device and neither will connect. VPN is off so that’s not the issue. I will update my review if I’m ever able to get the camera to pair with my phone.

Bought this just prior to a road trip, with a little trepidation that I would be able to get it installed and troubleshooted before I left. Didn’t encounter any problems on the install, and a quick trip through the owner’s manual answered any configuration questions.

Unit works flawlessly, and looks I’d say about 90% stock just behind my mirror. It’s very unobtrusive, and just does it’s job reliably. Picks up a GPS signal without any difficulty, and replay is very easy over wifi with the app.

I haven’t used the cloud services and don’t really get the point. Maybe that will change. The only advice I’d give someone is to get a bigger memory card. It’s not that I personally have a desire to be creating archive footage of my driving activities, but on a long trip the smallest card can start getting overwritten with new material fairly quickly.

I would think that over time there is also a lower probability of having issues due to the more constant/frequent overwriting that would happen with the smaller card.

Great Customer service from The Dash Cam Store. I had good interactions online via chat window and got all my questions answered. I am blown away with this dash cam, I like that it looks great but is small enough to go unnoticed and it fit just perfectly in my Dodge RAM 1500.

I ordered the Power Magic Pro with my cam and the only thing I have to say here is that the wire harness is set up for cars only. With my fuse box under the hood I had to extend the harness which took a little longer to complete the install which is very easy (just make sure you read the instructions) Use the wire taps! Great Store, Great dash cam.

Pros – Good quality video. – Came with 16GB SD card. – Easy set up and wiring. – really convenient to be able to connect the camera to your phone and transfer the videos or just view directly on your phone.

– Camera feels sturdy and like its built to last. Cons – only con is it seems like the G-sensors are really sensitive even at low settings, camera would beep when ever I would drive over small bumps; but once you turn off the event notification beep its not an issue.

I have used this dash cam for awhile now and I will definitely say it is an average cam and will get the job done on an average level. It is very lightweight and small, which I like because it is kinda discreet in my SUV and you really don’t know it is there unless you are looking hard for it and know what you are looking for.

It does suction well to the windshield and I haven’t had any issues of it falling down unexpectedly. I do have issues with knowing for sure if it is on or off because there is no display and you have to rely on the light to go through the modes.

I prefer to be able to have a read out screen, knobs, buttons, anything like that to know what exactly I am doing and to make sure I am indeed recording. It records to a sd card and you have to put it in your computer to see the recordings.

That is not an issue because I expected that but the video quality could be a little better. Again, it is good for what it is and it you want or need a basic recording on what is in front of you on the road, then you’ll be fine with this cam.

Overall, it is a cam that does what a cam is expected to do and will get basic jobs done. The downside is the lack of fully knowing what I’m doing when using it. I need to know for sure when and how I’m recording and though this cam does that, it could’ve been executed a little better.

This camera is perfect if you are looking for something cheap and without any bells and whistles. While it is definitely no GoPro, it is very solid for the price. The video quality is surprisingly good and I am happy with it.

The camera is super easy to setup if you are using it in your car with the included suction cup or wearing it on clothes with the included clip. The one annoying part is having the cord running from the camera to the USB port in the car, but that is something you have to get used to.

The camera also has different features which is cool: different video quality (1080, 720, etc. ), motion detection, picture, and automatic start when driving. While I have not played around with all of the features, they are pretty cool for this device.

The camera and mount are not super strong and I would not recommend treating this camera like you would a GoPro because it will break. One thing that was weird was that my SD card was not working right away but after popping it in and out of the camera a few times it started working.

My dog SNX is a pesky little mutt. I love him to death but sometimes when I come home and leave him out to roam about he will get into things such my trash (which is in a heavy drawer). He also figured out where his treats are which are also hidden in a separate higher counter.

It’s dumbfounding how he can figure out how to open these cabinets and even door handles! He’s a medium sized Aussiedoodle so not a large dog. I’m excited to leave him alone and witness first hand how he manages these acts so I can prevent them!.
