I purchased this book because 1. Timothy Keller is a favorite author of mine. 2. I undertook a study of the book of Proverbs for this year and wanted a devotional to end my study time. 3. I purchase Mr.

Kellers books when they are release because they are biblically based and he has great insight into the Bible.

Crisp, excellent insights in daily digestible pages. Very helpful for understanding the general themes of the book of Proverbs. Highly recommended.

I bought this book with much hesitation as I only knew of the author from tv and thought there is no way this guy is a believer. I’m using it as a daily devotional this year and have found his thoughts, scriptures and comments to to be so in line with my thoughts and needs for God’s help.

He is truly a wonderful person and I have shared many of his words with family and friends. I’ve recommended this book to several people and have purchased two for men I knew could use it as I have needed it.

I will continue to use it daily this year and for many years to come.

This devotional is so easily read because an individual can pick any one of them on any day and find direction that is applicable. Bear Grylls is an author that is able to write understandable messages from actual life lessons that he has learned from face to face encounter.

I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity.

I purchased this book because I had been looking for a devotional that brought together human experiences with the search for the spirit, one step at a time. This book accomplishes that and so much more.

Complexity meets spiritual growth. You can quietly read as little or as much as you desire. This book is truly a comfort and joy.

Not what I expected. Just a person expressing his thoughts about each psalm. The psalms are passionate and heartfelt and I did not feel he revealed that. It is better for you to read the psalms and meditate on them yourself with the help of the Holy Spirit.

This book is extraordinarily good. It gives you approaches that transform psalm reading into psalm meditation and prayer. Profound!

Timothy Keller is an amazing author he’s like the c. s lewis of this day and age. I love all of the books ive ever read. So a devotional was essential for me! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good daily devo.

This was an “impulse” purchase because of the cover. I have several devotionals with Streams in the Desert showing the love it acquired over the years. The sunflower for me is a symbol of God’s faithfulness during a dark and struggling time in my life due to a death and resulted in my having to sell my home.

I begrudgingly planted sunflower seeds mumbling to God that I didn’t know why I was wasting my time since I wouldn’t be there when they bloomed. God blessed me with still being in my home to seem them bloom to over 6′.

I harvested 2 seeds, putting them in a small glass box with Isaiah 40:31 “They shall mount up with wings as eagles. ” Whenever my faith wavers as it does at times for all of us, I open the box and look at the seeds.

I enjoy the simple layout with the daily scripture leading and the Faith Step at the end. If I could change two things, I would eliminate attaching the day of the week to the date and the year designation, leaving it at the month and date.

I appreciate the font being big enough to read comfortably. A beautiful, daily devotional.

These daily devotions are geared for teen boys, written by other teen boys. Every topic is of interest to them or issues they may be dealing with. Bible verses are short enough to keep their attention but long enough to gain insight from the daily reading.

Each day has its own date so they always know where to read. A daily devotion usually takes about 3-4 minutes. Any kid has time for that!.

Got this as an Easter gift for my 14 year old Godson. He has been reading it and says he can understand the devotional messages which is usually difficult for a teen

The daily devotionals help start my day off right. They are positive and encouraging.

This devotional book is different from any other I have read. The book is written in the first person as though Christ is speaking directly to you. His words are based on scripture, and often a direct quote from the Bible is in italic type.

Several scripture references are given for each devotion to give proof that what He is saying is true to the Word. I also appreciate that there is a devotion to start the day as well as one to end. The morning devotion is usually a bit longer and more thought-provoking than the the evening devotion.

I have found this book to be an immense help to me in my Christian walk. Somehow, when I envision Him speaking directly to me, the words take on a greater meaning and increase my understanding of living a more Christ-like life.

I have gifted this book to many people, and the usual response is it has been a blessing.

I first heard about this book from an International Contact who had this book gifted him. He was so impressed with it that I decided to check it out. The book comes in various editions – some with different covers but most have only one devotional reading for each day.

I chose this edition because it gives a morning and evening reading – left page for morning; right for evening. There’s also a wee reflection to think about for when it’s “lights out” time! The quality of the binding is much better than I expected and the book is compact enough to take anywhere.

It’s roughly A5 in size though quite thick because of the 365 days of content. I’m more spiritual than religious, but I don’t think it really matters what your beliefs, as there is something for everyone in this book.

If you are setting forth on the journey to self-improvement and want some thoughts each day to guide and inspire you, then this book will assist you in that direction. And if you don’t particularly have a religious following or belief, pretend it’s someone else talking to you.

Either way, the message is positive and encouraging. Money well spent! Declan.

Reading the daily devotional morning and evening readings and Bible passage references for each has given me a new level of understanding of my faith and my relationship with God. I bought this copy because I gave my 3 year old copy to a friend whom I think will benefit from reading it and using it as a key to reading the Bible.

With a blue attached ribbon marker, the beginning has an author’s note and introduction, while the ending includes acknowledgments, notes, and advertisements. This book is a twenty-four-day devotional that covers the entire book of Luke in the Bible to read during advent as it leads up to Christmas.

Each day’s devotion is six to nine pages long and begins with the day, title, recommended reading, and a written out Bible verse or two. The chapter covers the topic and how it applies to everyday living.

A short prayer and fast recommendation complete the day’s reading. Some of the titles include Prepare the Way, The Kingdom is Yours, Marvel, Pride and Presentation, See the Story, Live Like Jesus, Discern the Tims, Communion, and Live on the Promised Land.

~Why ~ I love devotionals that do not include the writer’s personal experiences and appreciate that this one rarely mentions herself. Among the explanations of Luke’s chapters, there are encouragements, reminders, and words of wisdom that draw the reader to concentrating on the life of Jesus and shutting out the world’s draw during the holidays.

I greatly appreciated the prayers and fast suggestions that could be easily continued throughout the year. One of my favorites was Day 15 titled Jesus Pursues the Wander which covers Luke 15 about Jesus being our Shepherd, the woman finding her lost coin, and the prodigal son, all correlating to Christ’s passion and relentless pursuit of us.

The “Prepare Him Room” prayer thanks the Lord for drawing us to Him while the “Look Up” prompts fasting from angst, worry, and despair over lost loved ones. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will not appreciate this read.

Since the book only covers twenty-four days and only the book of Luke, some may prefer longer or deeper devotionals that explain the Bible verse in-depth or only reading the Scriptures as their daily time with God.

~ Wish ~ The book contains Bible translations that I do not care for, but I found it to be a helpful devotion that centers on Christ. I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence. ~ Want ~ If you want to shut out the world during the holiday season and focus on what the Lord did while He spent time on earth, this would be relished and rewarding.

Susie Larson has done it again with her Advent devotional titled Prepare Him Room. In this book, she takes us on a daily journey through Luke during the Advent season. The format of each devotional; a chapter from Luke (along with supplemental Bible verses), a daily prayer (Prepare Him Room), and a suggestion for a “fast” from something (Look Up) gives me much to ponder.

This book gives me a fresh lens to look through as I ‘clean my glasses’ and think about Jesus’ birth. I LOVE Susie’s unique perspective as she writes about our prayers to change others! She writes, “.

He changes you. He offers a fresh perspective on places within you that still need healing. ” The Look Up section invites me to give up things like jealousy, overextension, and rigid expectations, all items that contribute to my stress during the holidays.

Instead of packing my schedule AND shopping cart with things, I’m encouraged to load up on Jesus. I am anxious to read Prepare Him Room again during Advent to help, “All priorities fall in place when I give God 1st place.

Previously, I was using a devotional by Andrew Murray, updated by Bruce Wilkerson and his team, that at first glance looked very good and helpful. I received it in July, so in an attempt to catch up by New Years 2018, I began by going through two-three of the readings each day.

After about a month and a half, my feeling that the material was prone to be theologically unsound was confirmed several times over. My sister recommended Streams in the Desert as an alternative and I’m glad she did! The daily readings are fully Biblically based and ring with Christian truth.

They are comforting to those experiencing minor difficulties to severe trials, but also challenging in that their goal is to enable the reader to stay close to the Lord and grow spiritually. I am happy to recommend Streams in the Desert without reservation.

I have an old copy that I have used for several years and bought these as gifts to share. I have found that the messages are so often just what I need for that day. What a wonderful gift Mrs. Cowman gave to us all.

I believe that God has used to her bless the world.

Covers multiple topics within leadership, i. e. , communication, vision, time/self management, attitude, teamwork, relationships, mentoring, priorities, pitfalls and warnings, rewards and benefits, etc.

Encouraging, challenging and convicting. Great format – written as a one page per day teaching for the busy leader or leader-to-be. I buy them in multiples and give them as gifts to people on a regular basis.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is filled with uplifting stories that are only 2 to 3 pages long. I have bought over 20 in the last 2 years and hand them out to different people that need a lift.

Everyone that has come back to me, has commented that it is an amazing book. It gives one hope and reinforces their faith in God. When my teenage daughters seem in a bad mood or are talking negatively about life, I send them off with the book and tell them to randomly pick 3 “stories” and then come back to me.

Inevitably, they return in a much better mood and are refreshed and ready for the world. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone. It is not religion forced down your throat. It is a collection of positive messages from a very passionate man who happens to be a preacher.

I purchased this book for a Sister/Friend of mine. Her Birthday is in July and she is in the process of completing her first book. I wanted her to know that in order to complete what God has ordained her to do, she will have to be “Unshakeable”.

It is my belief that she will get so much out of this book to help her move forward in her assignment.

I like the larger print, colored paper and hard cover. Each devotion speaks to either a current situation or is strengthening me for a future time. I look forward to each days reading and leave it open so I can reread and meditate on the word throughout the day.
