Best Daily American Crossword Puzzle (2024 Updated)

Crossword information on 2 pages with the crossword on the right and clues on left. You have to fumble with the book to check the next clue. Just a bit troublesome and the puzzles seem rather dated sometimes.

Still I am enjoying filling in what I can and I’ll go back later and rip out the answer pages and grab an answer to see if I can complete the rest!.

Ive done crossword puzzles for 50 years and continue to enjoy doing them at 70. These particular puzzles are just difficult enough to offer a real challenge. Thank You

Great size plus puzzles aren’t too difficult but also not too easy so avoids a lot of frustration. Love that it has so many puzzles (200).

Challenging … but certainly not overwhelming!

I like to do a puzzle just before retiring for the night as it calms me. This collection of puzzles is only moderately difficult and most are fairly easily solved by an experienced puzzle worker. However it does stretch the mind just enough to be interesting.

However I would not recommend it for an experienced crossword puzzle solver who might desire a real mind twister. It was worth the money and fits my bedtime use perfectly.

Its a huge collection of crossword puzzles. Great purchase!!!

The New York Times Sunday Crosswords are,and have been for several years, The only puzzles I want to do. They are clever, smart, educational, mind expanding, Trivia testing, origial crossworks of art.

No other crossword publications compare in originality. The theme in every puzzle is one of the most entertaining features. The issue featured here is from 2006 with puzzles published from 1983 to 1998.

That may seem a little out of date for some people but for me it’s still prime time trivia as far as sports and entertainment clues go. Over 70’s like myself find it easier to remember that era than the current one.

I can remember what was going on in 1985 but I can’t remember where I set my reading glasses down 20 minutes ago. Before I found this publication on EBay I was getting my fix from an area daily which published an insert with the NYT Sunday once a week on Thursday.

Every Thursday I would drive 18 miles round trip to the nearest store to pick up the paper and I would finish the puzzle that evening. This book will pay for itself in less than 2 months and entertain me every time I sit down to nothing on the tv.

If you are a crossword nut, go to EBAY and look for New York Times Sunday puzzles in any format. I know when I finish this one I’m going to buy another one. Heck, I might even buy the same one. I probably won’t remember the puzzles by then anyway.

Getting 500 Sunday puzzles for the price I paid was indeed a bargain. The only drawback is that with it being an inch and a half thick it’s kind of clumsy. I’ve been thinking of using a box cutter to remove a few pages at a time in order to make working on the puzzles more convenient.

It would have been nice if the voluminous edition came with a way of doing that, but it’s not an insurmountable obstacle.

Pro: There are a lot of puzzles Con: There are misspelled answers to clues, ie, clue-fairy answer-pixy #2 clue-surprise attacker answer-amclintoner. I have looked that answer up in the dictionary and the word does not exist.

These are just two examples of what the entire book has been like thus far. I know they are supposed to be difficult, but if it weren’t for the answer key, there would be no way to solve the puzzles from start to finish.

It’ll be awesome if I can do the puzzles. At any rate, they look tough and challenging.

Terrible clues and answers. Half of them just don’t make sense. Good luck figuring most of them out without having to take a peak at the answer guide. Would not recommend.

These are challenging puzzles. I learn a lot when I have to peek at the answers. Great brain exercise!

Love this range of quick crossword books. I now have several. All general knowledge questions. Nothing cryptic. (If you get really stuck, the answers are provided at the back of the book) Highly recommend.

Perfect for my needs as an 88year old who wants to keep her memory for as long as possible. Questions mostly easily answered but some useful sticklers that made me think. If you are in a Care Home I would recommend buying this book and use it to fill in time while waiting for a carer to come and help you you !!!.

With a crossword book, you can buy them again and again as when you turn the page it is a whole new ball game. These Daily Mail The Big Book of Quick Crosswords keep my husband occupied every morning.

He loves them, so we order again and again.

I love doing crossword puzzles but all the New York Times puzzle books are too difficult for me except the Monday editions. These puzzles are taken from the Monday and Tuesday editions. The Light and Easy puzzles are definitely not easy to me.

I actually would consider them difficult. It makes me work my brain. Of those answers I do not know, I look up the clue online and learn about it. The book is compact so I can take it with me to the many places where magazines are not allowed to be displayed.

I am prepared to do another difficult and challenging “Light and Easy” crossword puzzle.

Great little crossword book to relax with. Not super challenging but enough hard content to be interesting. Each puzzle has a theme of some sort that may include puns or other word play. Limited reliance on obscure words,, pop culture, sports and TV-related clues which i appreciate.

Some can be accomplished in as little as 5-10 minutes so you can feel smart, but there is not a lot of word repetition either, so it will help broaden your vocabulary. The book is small, so the writing is probably not good for people that need large print or squares, but ir is light and very portable.

Paper is newsprint, so won’t survive getting wet or too much erasing, but good enough for the job. I enjoyed it a lot.

I ordered this because it was suppose to be easy, but after working the first few ones, realized a lot of the answers are not easy to guess, and needed to refer to the answers in the back just to complete it.

There are answers that I’ve never heard of before regarding things not only in America, but other countries too. so it’s certainly not my idea of easy. If it wasn’t for the answers in the back, I’d toss it in my recycling garbage.

Great to do a puzzle almost every day, except weekend.

Pefect quick crosswords! Handy for a coffee break, or challenge yourself to complete a certain number in a specific time if on a journey for example.

Any book with EXTENSIVE GRAFFITI is bad enough but when that book is a book of crosswords and all of the puzzles have been attempted it makes the book useless. Surely something dramatic has happened at ‘WORLD OF BOOKS’ and if I were part of the management team at ‘WORLD OF BOOKS’ I would want to find out what has happened.

In fact ‘WORLD OF BOOKS’ couldn’t be less interested. I contacted WORLD OF BOOKS twice and eventually left negative feedback but no response. Maybe WORLD OF BOOKS has a rogue employee and for some reason the company are not interested in the misfortunes that befall their customers.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT NOBODY BUYS ANY EXPENSIVE MERCHANDISE FROM THIS COMPANY UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED.

The crossword book is ideal for me as I like quick crosswords. I have learnt a lot of new words as a result of doing crosswords.

I love these books, they are just right – sometimes easy, sometimes a little bit hard but no too hard. I’ve had them all now except No 6.

Great book of quick crosswords clear grid and easy to read clues. It keeps my dad amused every day. Just like all the other thinner 200 Daily Mail quick crossword books he has completed.
