20 Best Dab Torch On Amazon (2023 Updated)

This is a great butane torch. It is easy to light (once you get the hang of it), it has a large gas tank so burns for a long time and it is more powerful than other torches I’ve used. However, it is not very good in the soldering role.

Reasons for this are: the soldering tip screws into a catalyst sleeve which itself is just a push-fit into the flame tip of the main torch unit. This means that the flame tip and catalyst sleeve are prone to working loose when the tip is wiped backwards on a wet sponge for cleaning.

They didn’t actually fall out, but I did need to keep pushing them back into the flame tip. Not easy when red hot! Another problem is that the soldering tip has a vent hole from which hot gas escapes, sideways.

With the tip in my kit this vent hole is facing downwards if holding the torch to solder with my right hand. The result is that hot gas burns the workpiece or the table top. I’m learning to solder left handed.

A third problem is that the provided solder does not appear to be flux cored, which means that the tip is difficult to tin properly and keep tinned. It became unuseable in no time. I had to find some acid and work to get the tip partially retinned, to finish the first job with this kit.

So it’s a great gas torch and an emergency soldering torch, but be aware of its limitations in the soldering role. A gas soldering torch that allows positioning of the exhaust vent will be easier to use and cause less damage.

I needed to heat a small amount of material & found the Dremel VersaFlame Gas Blowtorch (4120D) via an internet search. It was the best value that I could find, that suited my requirements, even including the delivery cost.

Delivery was as promised, so no problem with availability. (Although I do wonder why it has to be Delivered & not ‘instantly’ available at the Local Store?) via the normal Click & Collect procedure. I have other Dremel tool kits & so do not have any reservations about the qualtiy of the Mini Torch Kit, in fact the instructions give uses for the torch that I had never considered, so that is a bonus to explore too.

I already have full size Gas Brazing/Welding equipment together with a Multi Nozzle Propane burner, both too large for this particular application. So this Dremel torch fitted well in to my engineering heating equipment range.

NOTE: I have awarded 3 stars only for reliability as I have only just received the torch. So only time will tell whether it is reliable long term.

Used for various jobs including arrow preparation. Good safety features (child lock) and functional features (including, that the gas stream is not turned off with the flow control lever, so, you can start up with the same flame length repeatedly).

The flame is good and hot, working between the two extremes of flame length. I’m only having to use minimum flow at present. Nice and solid on its stand for hands-free use. I’m sure that I will eventually use it for a creme brle but, at the moment it is an excellent working tool.

The last TS4000 I had lasted about 20 years, and that was even while all those years I was quite abusive (stepping on it, dropping it, etc. ). For example, it saw at least 10 Burning Mans, and if you’ve been out there, you know how rough that environment is, especially on metals.

I thought it was going to just last forever–which it might have if I’d taken better care of it–but finally, the knob fell off and the starter popped out. It looked like some piece of internal plastic from the knob broke.

Even though it did finally break, I never had any problems with this excellent product. You just push a button one time (very rarely twice) and you have this roaring torch flame that swirls so the tip remains cool to the touch! What’s not to like?! Outside of maybe getting rid of the plastic button–a fault I consider too minimal to reduce this review even by a point–I can’t imagine a much better product, so I’m buying another here! PS – The TS4000 does not have the flame adjust like the TS8000.

Even though the prices aren’t all that much different, I intentionally avoided getting the TS8000 because that knob is just one more valve and protrusion to break far as I’m concerned. Also, I have no need to throttle the flame for all my uses, including more delicate ones like steak searing or creme brulee carmelization, so the extra feature would not be worth the risk of it breaking far as I’m concerned.

I am a fireworks professional who requires a reliable torch for lighting the shells on time and in a safe manner. I bought one of these the other day to do our Canada Day show, and my brand new torch (which of course worked ok when at home when I first opened up the kit) decided to not light.

After many clicks it finally did, but the flame coming out was inconsistent and pulsing between low and higher pressure. Thought maybe the tank was bad, so I switched tanks with one of my colleagues, but same result.

So only conclusion is the regulator or tip is not working correctly. Sometimes works, but mostly wouldn’t. Good thing we had road flares as back up to light our fireworks! Originally was looking for a Benzomatic torch, and should have gone with them instead.

I will be returning this useless torch and finding a Benzomatic (sorry CT, but am going to have to go to Home Depot as you no longer carry the Benzomatic torches – worst buying decision ever!).

Not disappointed with this purchase. I use this as a fire starter in my wood stove during the Winter. I sift the ashes with a modified ash shovel, toss the ashes out, group the remaining (now cold and black) remnants and hit them with flames from this torch.

30 seconds of that and I have coals glowing again and the rest of the fire starting is easy. Usually works on first or second squeeze of the trigger. If you have no coals (hot or cold) to start with, you can always use briquettes (BBQ).

If using briquettes, break them into smaller pieces so they will heat faster. You only need to get them started glowing, so don’t waste a lot of propane trying to get them fully hot like they are when a fire is raging.

The good news: This torch produces a really nice pencil-point flame. I use it mostly with Mapp-Pro gas rather than with Propane because it produces a hotter flame. The bad news: It requires considerable force to turn off the valve.

There are three reasons for this, in my professional opinion. One is due to the fact that the brass knob is too small. Because the knob diameter is smaller than any other torch that I have used over the years, it requires a lot more finger pressure to make certain that the gas is completely turned off.

The second reason is that the “needle valve” and valve seat have been poorly machined. The metals should have an almost polished surface, but they are quite rough. A third reason is because the screw pitch for the needle valve is very course.

In fact, from OFF to FULL ON, it has a range of only about 8 to 10 degrees of turning motion. Most other similar torches that I have used over the years have a range of 2 to 3 complete turns to go from OFF to FULL ON.

The bottom line is, you get what you pay for. If you don’t have the money to purchase a professional quality torch, then the MT200 should be Okay for your home and hobby applications. By the way, I sent an Email to the manufacturer questioning how hard the knob is to turn off the gas, and they immediately sent me a replacement torch.

The replacement torch is almost as difficult to turn off as the one that I bought from MSC, and so I can conclude that the MT200 torch was designed that way. If you can live with that, then this would be a nice, inexpensive torch for you.

Have been thru 3 of these nozzles in a year roughly. The knob seems to get real sticky to the point of almost useless, impossible for the fingers to turn. The one I bought 3 months ago is already done, taken outta service because it had a very small leak today finally.

Knob turns smoothly at first use an gets stickier thru short period of time. Not like they use to be I’ve noticed over the years. What happen to the metal knobs that use to be on these?.

Bought this jumbo flame torch head to get away from the pencil flame head that I was using. The pencil flame took seemed like forever to head up 3/4 inch copper pipe but the jumbo flame does the job in no time.

This new model has a flat area at the base where you can use a wrench to snug up the head without applying pressure to the side of the valve to snug it up. Be careful and don’t get carried away with the wrench, just a little pressure will do it.

All in all, I wish I had bought this jumbo head years ago. A great product. Just remember for plumbing to set the flame where the inner cone shaped blue flame is about 3/4 inch high.

Hello well it seems bernzomatic forgot how to make torches if you buy one now your crazy looks to me if you go back 3 years you might get a decent torch anything newer the ignition system will malfunction within a few times of using.

Just read reviews all the same seems the company can’t read or doesn’t care I have had two one older lasted a few years newest one looks the same but definitely cheaper made seems we can’t trust any old companies we used to buyer beware I will switch to anything other than bernzomatic to bad before the named said it all unfortunately it does again just not in a good way.

This is a great little item to have in a tool box. I don’t care too much for the hold device. One thumb to disengage the lock and another to engage the hold open mechanism. Just awkward. Otherwise easy to handle and the heat is ideal for quick solders without burning all the insulation off a wire.

Does not generated nearly enough heat for soldering. I imagine its because the solder attachment is way too long. Only use this for sparking up your herb or toasting your crem brule because its useless for anything else.

Literally the worst torch I’ve owned. I had a small This Thing Rips! torch for 3 years and when it stopped working eventually, I got this pile of trash. 4 months later, it spews butane out the bottom until empty.

I’ve never had a torch so bad that it didn’t even last half a year. Mine have all gone at least 1 year no problem. The good reviews are probably bots lol.

My first fill up seemed to cause the flame to be maxed out with almost no adjustment. This was solved after burning through some butane as now the flame has proper adjustment and it’s just beautiful.

I wasn’t expecting it to be so much more powerful torches this style. This thing is a b e a s t. Yet at its low setting it’s fairly quiet which makes it pretty much perfect. Might have been able to bleed the tank to solve that early issue or it just needed a short break in.

Either way I don’t see it as a negative and just a note for others who might experience the same.

I used this torch for the first time today to solder sterling silver and copper bangles. I bought this because my other torch worked for rings and small pieces but didn’t get hot enough for larger pieces.

The Big Shot is comfortable to hold. It is easy to light and to adjust the flame. I did notice it sputtering at times, don’t know why. Also it seemed to run out of fuel pretty quickly. I filled it yesterday and didn’t use it until today, so I hope it’s not leaking.

I’ll find out tomorrow if I have to fill it again. Also, I noticed that the domed area between the nozzle and the tank becomes pretty warm during use. Overall this seems to be a good torch, it works well for soldering bangle bracelets.

I love how study it’s built, I love it can make a small volume flame that doesn’t push flower out of pipe. I hate there is no off and on intermittent function.

Ordered a product. Once order confirmation came through, discovered it was the incorrect model. Emailed them within a few min to note send it but hold order till the GB1000 came in. But no. They dispatched the Stingray (not the one I wanted) and emailed me after to say: Oh sorry, just send it back when you get it.

Trouble is, freight to Australia is more than the item is worth, AND on top of the insult, they email once dispatched saying I can return it for a credit after they already sent it! Freight of another huge sum.

This has been the most exasperated experience I’ve ever had. Dopes!.

I can say with 6+ years of using this guy, it’s firing mechanism hasn’t failed to ignite once. I use it multiple times a day, the adjustable flame allows for many uses which is cool. I’ve probably had hundreds of different lighters come and go but I still have this one, incredible.

I’ve owned 4 Bernzomatic soldering irons, and all 4 of them broke after a month or 2. This one is much better built, heavier, and comes with more accessories. I should have bought the dremel a long time ago.

Yes I recomend this dremel 2000. I forgot to mention the fuel tank is roughly double the size on this dremel also.

I use this primarily to solder my hand made jewelry. It is excellent when working with small parts. It heats fast and the temperature control is precise. The flame lock is ver handy. I can reach all the controls with one hand.

The gas canister is quite large an burn time is impressive. You get a lot for what you pay for. The metal case holds all adaptors firmly. I would highly recommend this Dremel tool.

I would have stayed with a red handle, Radio Shack torch with interchangeable tips. I’ve owned 4 of them in the last 17 years or so. But they are not easily available, so I picked up on the Dremel. I like their power tool.

It is a nice little piece. So far, the Dremel Torch is better than any torch I’ve ever used. Time will tell, but parts are available.

Completely baffled at the review before mine, some people just never learned basic shapes and how things fit together. This is a gorgeous torch, well engineered, love the air inlet control ring in addition to the fuel control ring, and the outer locking mechanism is a godsend for anyone that uses torches for baking in the kitchen on a regular basis.

Your thumbs will thank you for it! The flame runs smooth and blue and can burn from the tiniest little pocket lighter flame all the way up to a blistering 8 inch cone of hellfire. The body of the torch is wrapped in beautifully machine copper that holds its luster well with use, and even without any fuel in the canister there’s a pretty decent amount of weight on it to keep your investment upright and planted well on your working surface and far away from accidental drops, dings, or other mishaps.

This is definitely a kitchen tool I plan on keeping nicely kept and around for a long time for many more uses to come. Very satisfied with this purchase.

So I have been using this torch for about a month now and am very pleased with it. Having used a torch that screws onto a canister for years, I found the butane capacity was shockingly low at first. I frequently have to refill a couple times if I am charring veggies or steak, however, it will get me through caramelizing crème brûlée for my family (4) or meringues.

For most home cooks this is absolutely adequate and looks fantastic. I have to admit, it was my love of copper that attracted me to this torch initially and that is why I still use it. As another reviewer pointed out, the packaging and appearance is superb.

It would absolutely make a lovely gift. I wish the butane reservoir was larger, but I won’t knock any stars for that since it was expected.

I got this from the last drop and so far I’ve been really impressed. The packaging was really nice and would make for a good gift. I’ve only had a few chances to test it so far toasting some merengue on a pie and finishing some nachos by torching them to get the cheese perfectly melted and almost charred.

I’ve also used it to light a few candles. I’m using Colibri premium butane in mine and so far it seems to work really well. I haven’t had a chance to test it yet but if this thing can sear a steak after I sous vide it then I will be 100% satisfied with my purchase, and at this point I’m pretty confident it will be able to do that just fine.

I was using an old style propane torch (50 years old) and finally bought the TS8000. Yes, a hundred dollars is a lot for a torch but now I wish I had bought it 20 years ago. Heating my woodworking branding iron took four minutes and now it takes 40 seconds.

And of course the convenience of instant light is awesome. If you need a torch, buy this one. It works with both propane and MapPro gas. Note: there is much confusion about Mapp Gas. Mapp gas was banned in 2008.

Most of the web advertisers call MapPro gas Mapp gas. Wrong. Mapp gas with this torch would reach 5200 F but was so volatile that it caused accidents. Today we can choose Propane or MapPro gas. MapPro (3700F) is just a little hotter than Propane (3600F) with this torch.

If you need more heat for bending metal, etc you can buy a torch with a regulator that will burn either MapPro gas or Propane along with Oxygen. The temperature bumps up to 5300F or 4100 respectively.

The TS8000 is a great hand held torch and is great for a variety of different applications such as , Defrosting metal pipes ( Careful not to catch any surrounding surfaces of fire ) , Lighting camp fires, heating up seized nuts and bolts , wood work , etc.

I’m not sure how many different types of tips there are but the tip it comes with is removalble. It is a pretty rugged design and does not break as easily as some other plastic handle torches. The torch can be used with MAPP gas , propane , and even with the coleman camping propane bottles.

I have this same torch on my work truck ( I’m a heavy duty mechanic) and I’ve had it for 4 years now using it between 10 and 50 times a day in the winter for short periods and haven’t had an issue yet.

Highly recommend.

This torch is great, it easily starts and stops with the press and release of a button every time. I chose this one over the TS4000 torch after watching a YouTube comparison on the two where this one put out twice as much heat in the same amount of time.

Don’t waste your money on a cheaper torch. That’s what I did (a manual lit propane torch) and it was a pain to light and keep it running. I should have bought this torch years ago. It’s not like it’s a fortune.

So, I purchased this Micro Torch to heat shrink some tubing after my “name brand” torch died. I quickly figured out that the safety HAD to come off! Some side-cut pliers made easy work of that issue.

Then I learned that in order for mine to light every single time, the fuel had to be on the lowest setting and the air mixture set to wide open! Mine is awesome! Of course, I hope all of the negative reviews that say “Would not light” figured out that it was empty out of the package.

Mine was anyway. It’s been the best mini torch I have ever owned and I burn minimum 1 can of butane a month while plumbing, wiring, and starting fires around the farm.

I use these types of torches for cigars and my wife uses them for lighting candles that sit deep in a holder. Two previous brands I’ve owned had pistol-type triggers that eventually broke. Bummer. But this model has a push-button that is actuated with the thumb.

We’ll see how well it holds up. It also stays lit after the button is released. You turn it off by pushing another small button. I like this feature for my cigars, but I suspect my wife will forget to turn it off when lighting candles.

Better make sure my homeowners insurance is paid up!.

Pretty nice torch for the money. I’m using mine to silver solder stainless rings on fish hooks and jigs. Needed something with a fine flame but hot enough to melt silver. This works great! Update: 12/22/2013, Still going strong, would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I do not like that you must manually turn it off after heating. It wastes butane, no matter how quick you try to be. Other than that, it is absolutely perfect, heats evenly. I’ve had zero problems. I also give kudos to JBTools for asking me about the product after a month of purchase that way I can actually use the product and give an honest review.

I bought this because it was a Dremel but what a dissapointment. It may wok OK but never got to try it. I had to prise the blowlamp out of holding box with a screwdriver as it was so tight. After you have used it you have to dismantle whatever tip (there is only one) you have been using to get it back into its box again.

Very hard to ignite and all levers were very still. For nearly £40 I was expecting much better. Now bought one from Aldi 3 tips + + + in a box £9. 99. Smaller tank but does the same jobs plus more flexibility.

This is a well made small blowtorch. Simple to use and a full blowtorch will do a lot of heating,soldering or wood burning. I do a lot of silver soldering and was impressed with the way the torch could heat up heavy silver rings to the desired temperature.

Ther are a range of useful attachments and they all come in a solid tin box with lid. The blowtorch is a good bit more expensive but will out perform and last longer than others.

Great piece of equipment. Took minutes to put together. This thing sounds like a jet. I was considering one with the self igniter but read too many problem reviews and this is so easy to light. Couple things: 1) don’t forget that the fitting into the propane tank, at least the 20lb one, is reverse thread.

In this case, lefty tighty, right loosey. 2) intructions say to crack your tank open 1/8 to 1/4 turn to avoid too much propane coming out. I have a full tank and literally had to just crack it a smidge and the torch was roaring.

I straped it to a 2 wheeled dolly and was blasting away. Simple. Straightforward.

I would recommend this tool for what I used it for, burning weeds. You cannot see the flame so you will burn something you do not want if you are not careful. The instructions are very vague as to how to connect to the propane tank.

The connector you put on the hose goes inside of the connection on the tank. My neighbor came over and stated that his tank did not have the same connection on the tank so, in this case, you may have to find an in between connector.

I used Teflon tape when putting the fittings on the hose and handle of the torch. When the instructions stated only open the gas tank a quarter turn it is enough. You have to learn how much to open the valve on the torch so that you can light the torch and keep it going.

I bought this for spring time controlled burns after fighting with smaller propane canisters and it has not dissapointed one bit. The heat intensity can really be turned up to start areas that normally wouldn’t burn too easily.

I put it on a smaller 5 lb propane tank; put the tank in a back pack and away I go.

The torch works fine, but the picture shows the model with a handle-style valve that you squeeze to allow more gas through (like an oxy-acetylene torch). The model you get only has a knob valve that you turn to accomplish the same.

This means increasing or decreasing the intensity of the flame takes extra steps rather than the instant reaction you get from using a handle valve. You have to reach down with your other hand and turn a valve.

Not a huge deal, but I was disappointed when I got home to realize it wasn’t what I expected.

This works on old, dead weeds. But not newer larger green ones. Uses a fair amount of propane but nicer than picking them all. On first use the paint started peeling off the end of torch due to the heat generated.

Is harder to adjust the flame to get it just right.

This is not a tool I would have purchased but now that I have had the opportunity to use it, I wouldn’t want to not have one. Mag torch MT 5000 This is a great torch, I used it to burn weeds and grass in my driveway and other areas of my yard where weeds are a problem.

It is also useful in heating rusted bolts and nuts in ease of removing them. Care should be taken and never use it for this purpose around flammable areas. I burn firewood from my property and this torch will make it easier to burn brush piles in the early winter months.

Also it will be handy to melt ice.

IšverstiShow in original languageLike many people here, I had the problem with the igniter of the torch which was not working after several uses. I found that it produces the sparks, but fails to ignite the flame.

The problem is the position of the igniter tip. It was pointing to the near the center of the inner tube of the gas nuzzle, failing to ignite the flame in spite of producing the sparks. So I unscrewed the igniter screw using a small hex driver, and moved igniter and the tip so that it pointed to the space between the inner tube and outer tube if you are looking directly at the gas nuzzle.

Now it ignites the flame every time. You might need to slightly adjust the tip position closer to the inner tube but not touching it, to get the best igniting success. I hope this will help many of the people who purchased this otherwise wonderful torch.

Once it’s lit, it’s really good. I’m on my second one; the igniter on the first gave up after six years. If it could light up with the valve a bit farther open, I’d have given it the full five stars, although honestly I think it’s made this way for safety reasons; some users probably are not careful enough about where it’s pointed when they press the button.

IšverstiShow in original languageWorked great for three days until the Piezo quit sparking. Now I have a torch that I still have to light manually. But, that is what Harbor Freight is known for. Anything that remotely has an ancillary feature that is required to operate as designed is bound to fail shortly.

I’ve finally learned my lesson on buying anything like this at HF. I still love the store, but will limit my purchases to gloves, rags, tie wraps, wrenches, etc.

I use this torch for everything, lighting candles, camp fires and so on. I just used it today to sweat some copper pipe together for a shower/tub application. Its awesome!!

Having trouble using the provided tip as a flame for wood burning. supposed to be a 3-piece tip. Can remove the soldering tip but not any further to use as a micro torch. Can use as a torch without the tip, but that defeats the purpose of having a micto tip.

Please advise.
