Best Cuts For Curly Hair (2024 Updated)

I used to have 2b-2c hair in my 20’s. My hair was the healthiest it had been, chopping a lot of the weight out was finally a thing and I had the hair I’d always dreamed of. After some years, hormone changes and a few layers of home bleach jobs (that were pretty good efforts) the dryness from the bleach really took the curl out.

I lived with it for a few years and decided to start growing it out. Short story long, I thought I’d start trying some new products to see if I could vsco on the curl back. After a few false starts with lacklustre products and results, I decided to give Ouai Curl Creme a go.

Boy, am I glad I did! Not only does it smell delicious (but not overbearing), it really kicked those curls back into gear! I have to use a little more than I normally would, because about 2/3’s of my hair is still bleached, but with some scrunching and a little sprayed water to reinvigorate the curl on the dats after the first style, I can get a good 2c going and have it last for days! On the first day I can obviously feel the product in my hair a little, but it’s not sticky and it’s not heavy, which is most important.

It really has been a game-changer and given mr my old confidence back, as I never really felt like “me” when I didn’t have these curls. They’re my thing 😁 Truly, give it a go, it’s an excellent product, especially if you’re like me and have difficulty really getting that definition due to bleach and/or overly dry hair.

Oh! It isn’t drying, either, but I’d still suggest a little serum for shine, as it doesn’t get weighed down by using more than o e product, and I have quite thick hair ☺️✨.

I used Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream, but they recently changed their formula and I had to find something new. I really like this cream, but only on freshly washed hair. After washing, I comb it through, scrunch my hair, then add a gel and I get more compliments on my curls than I ever had.

It makes my curls silky soft and bouncy. Very defined. But day 2-3 is another story. My usual routine is to spritz my hair with a mix of water and conditioner and then add my curl cream to help revitalize and define curls.

This product doesn’t help with clumping, or with taming 2nd day frizz, so I’ve ended up with greasy looking, frizzy curls; it becomes easily weighed down for low-porosity hair. It’s hard to coax the curls together.

I really appreciate a fragrance free curl cream, but I’ll have to keep experimenting to see if I can find a way for it to work on non-wash-day hair.

This product is clearly a creme that is not shy to define, and give your hair a subtle yet noticeable shine. IMMEDIATELY after drenching my hair in water, and applying the product, I barely had to touch my hair, and the definition was VERY apparent.

Y’all, when I say, I was shook. I have never in all of my 21 years of life had a product instantly define my hair upon application. I barely had to finger comb. It for sure provides a nice element of moisture as well, and I find that the more I’ve used it these past couple of weeks, the softer my hair is getting.

I’m not 100% sure if it’s this product, or some of the other products that I’ve been using in my hair for the time being, but I do know that this is clearly the moisture and defining agent in the squad of hair products I’ve been using.

This product has chia & linseed oil, babassu oil, and coconut oil in it, which are clearly carrying the product and running so that it doesn’t even have to jog on it’s own. Babassu oil is known as an oil that promotes high moisture retention, which seals the moisture into your hair shaft (ideal for high porosity hair types), and you know lack of moisture retaining products in your haircare routine is one of the #1 causes for breakage.

Chia seeds are rich in fatty acids which work to not only penetrate your hair shaft (great for low porosity hair types), but seal in the moisture as well. Linseed oil is the same as flaxseed oil, which is high in vitamin E, and not only treats hair loss, but promotes growth.

For my dry scalp peeps, flaxseed oil also can be used to prevent dandruff, and can provide relief. If you have damaged hair, or chemically processed hair, this is very ideal, since it has great moisture retaining properties, and it seals damaged cuticles.

My only con is that I have been noticing slight flaking on certain occasions, but that happens with whenever a bad combo of products is mixed. I highly recommend!.

I first discovered Oribe years ago through Birchbox and have been a super fan ever since. The Curl Shaping Mousse smells, like all Oribe products, divine and the benefits don’t stop there. My curls are bouncy, healthy and shiny looking and best of all, feel hydrated and so full.

You really only need about a half-dollar dized dollop (depending on the length of your hair. Mine is long – to the middle of my back) so the bottle lasts a decent amount of time. Oribe has never disappointed me and I have never used an Oribe product that I didn’t love and this mousse is no exception.

My favorite moose ever! Doesn’t leave hair crunchy or stiff. Hair looks beautiful, full and vibrant. I use this whenever I wash my hair and it works wonderful on my color treated, thick wavy hair. Iconic amazing Oribe scent.

Present but not overpowering. Will always buy this product. I’ve purchased this a few times now and have never had a problem with packaging- which can be hard to find since a lot of times top can become defective with time with other hair products(breaks or randomly stops dispensing product even though plenty of product is left) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!.

Yes it’s expensive, BUT it’s also the best curling mousse I’ve ever tried. The VOLUME and hold alone make it a must-have for me, but on top of that it’s great to have it in your hair from the day before when you’re refreshing your day-two curls.

Of course I use it with a curl cream and light defining gel as well, but when my hair is longer I’m excited to try it just by itself and see what kind of mane I get. Will always have a bottle of this on hand, hope it’s in production forever!!!.

I have spent more money than I care to admit trying to find a gel that can withstand Florida humidity. Aqua gel is my one success. As a bonus, this gel works perfectly fine in cold and low humidity temperatures.

I can get second and even third day hair, which I have never been able to do before. I apply the gel in two stages. The first one being in the shower with wet, squeezed out hair. I wrap my hair in a flower sack towel for a few minutes and then follow up with a second application of gel with some scrunching, then let it air dry.

I get perfect, touchable results every time. There is no stickiness to this gel once it has dried – no slimy hands after touching my hair. A few other Curlsmith formulas failed for me, but this one is a huge winner!.

I can’t believe there is a gel that works on my fine, wavy, build up prone hair! I’ve tried TONS of them over the years, but they are all too heavy, weighing down my hair and building up quickly, meaning I have to wash more often.

The first thing I noticed about this gel is how thin it is – it is much less viscous than most. The name is definitely fitting. I used it on top of a Curlsmith leave in (Weightless Air Dry Cream). It gave me good definition with light to medium hold.

The biggest thing for me is that I still had my waves on day 3! Usually by then it’s gone nearly straight from the weight of the product. Not this time! I love that I could start with the travel size to try it out.

I almost immediately ordered the full size. No more testing out gels only to give them away after one use!.

I can’t say enough how much I love this gel! But for the love of God, PLEASE MAKE A 16+ ounce of THIS GEL! I only get 3 or 4 uses out of the 8 ounces 😢 so the 16+ ounces would be an actual reasonable deal.

I have waist length THICK, high density 3c hair. I didn’t do my research and snagged this on a whim last time I was in store. Spoiler alert: I loved it!!! It made my curls “strong” not limp like they usually are, but every curl was defined and lifted.

I use a lot of moisture so I think the protein was a good balance. I used it ON ITS OWN, no leave in, to give max hold.

I bought this product it reluctantly, but ended up being totally satisfied. I have 3c/4c textured hair and this actually works at defining and maintains my natural curls. The crème has a thick consistency and actually coats my low-porosity hair.

It holds the curls without over-drying my hair. Leaves my curls soft and bouncy and full of volume. I was concerned about this product being formulated for men, but it does wonders for this girl’s hair!!! The scent is glorious as well.

I would definitely recommend this product for anyone with coiled, thick-textured hair, most definitely!!!.

I cannot anti-recommend this product enough. I have naturally curly hair and this straightened it as though I flat ironed it. It mattes it down so that it looks and feels disgusting, unless I use so little that it does nothing.

And it WILL. NOT. DRY. nasty, nasty stuff, avoid at all costs. Note that thenpositive reviewers all seem to be under the impression that the product is SUPPOSED to straighten their hair. If that works for them, great, but the company needs to adjust their marketing.

The label is extremely unclear about what the product is supposed to do, which is another reason it gets 1 star. But I looked up curl kicker on Google and every hair and fashion website agrees that curl kicker is supposed to enhance curls, not straighten and mat them down.

I’m mixed and have really curly hair when it’s wet but when my hair is dry it becomes puffy and the curls go away. This is the only product that I have found that keeps my hair in the same curly texture as when it’s wet all day! I’ve tried Cantu, Tresemme anything you can think of but they all underperform somewhere along the process.

Love this product. I use it to enhance my curls after I have washed. I use about a 50 cent piece size before plopping my hair. After that I diffuse out. Makes my curls touchable without feeling crunchy like a mousse does.

Great product! But I’m not sure you should be guided by the reviews here, especially with pictures. You can see that in the photos people have different hair, some are thin and light, some are thick and heavy.

And everyone is equally happy. But I don’t see people writing about how long the effect lasts. Because it seems to me that with curl products, that’s the most important thing. Most curly people have pretty dry hair and don’t have to wash it too often.

Any hair shouldn’t be washed too often, but people with straight hair are usually more used to constant washing. I prefer to wash no more than once a week. But then the question is, how long do curls last? In my experience, it depends on the weather conditions (how humid the air is) and the time of year.

I have a winter and cold country right now, I often go around with a hat on. The heat works at home and the air is dry. Curls do not survive in such conditions. Now how do I know if the product is working well.

Waiting for summer! I too can apply the product, blow dry and take pictures of how beautiful my hair looks. Very beautiful! but not for long! just a few days. and that’s not a fact. About the jar itself: this is more convenient for me, to get in there with my fingers and apply it to very wet hair.

Squeeze it out and then wrap it in a towel. And sleep with wet hair. Then in the morning you wake up with slightly sticky hair, but it quickly passes. You can shake them with your hands, the effect of glued hair will also pass.

I was really hoping to like this product as it seemed explicitly aimed at curly hair. However, after using it for a week I was really underwhelmmed. Sure, it’s better than most products out there but not by much.

The product is very sticky and doesn’t seem to have much of a hold. Instead, the gooeyness just dries on your hair leaving it dry and frizzy. I get they are trying a more natural product but that doesn’t change that its ineffective.

I’ve used other natural products that use beeswax, clay, and moisturizing oils and butters that both leave my hair feeling tamed AND moisturized. I will not be buying this again.

I’ve been using the Curl Activating Cream for over 5 years. The first formula, the one in the tube, was incredibly smooth and moisturizing. Now the jar formula separates terribly and feels much more watery, limiting its moisturizing qualities.

It used to be my go-to styling product, but the watery-ness also affects how much product sticks to my hair. It’s been moved to a backup product. I’ve contacted them about the change, but I’ve unfortunately received no response to my concerns.

I wish they would look at the reviews to reflect about the changes perception of their product, but alas, it may be a change where they are unwilling to accept criticism.

I never do reviews but I like this product this much. I have been using crinkles and curls for years! I hope the company never discontinues it. I have thick naturally curly hair. I have tried ever product out there but either the other products made made my hair greasy, stiff or it flattened my curls.

Krinkles and curls has a subtle but nice smell. It also helps my curls set, but I can still run my fingers through my hair. I do pair this product with Tresime mouse for curly hair for hold in any weather.

1 bottle lasts quite a while even though my hair is very thick and long most of the time. I feel like the product is fairly priced. I highly recommend this product for people with curly hair and mixed type hair.

I have been using crinkles and curls for many years. Perfect setting lotion for curly curls or braided crinkles on your locks. Crinkles and curls works well as the perfect setting lotion on wet or dry hair.

I had high hopes for this product since I love their hair spray so much, but it leaves way too much icky residue on my waves. I have fine high-porosity 2B hair down to my mid-back, and only used a quarter-sized blob on lengths before air-drying (I don’t use gel or mousse on top when it’s just casual styling).

Once my hair is detangled with a Denman-type brush and the waves are formed, I don’t touch it so as not to disturb the curl clumps (that’s the secret for pretty mermaid waves) I was very disappointed and surprised to feel how sticky my hair was after it was dried.

There was so much icky product residue I could feel it on my hands, I literally had to wash my hands every time I touched my hair. I tried using even smaller amounts but it felt the same. My waves came out nice, but I just can’t handle sticky residue when other products can hold my waves just as well without the stickiness.

Maybe it’s because I have fine hair, and the product would be better suited for thick/coarse hair? It’s possible. In any case, This curl cream is going in the box of rejects I bring to my hair stylist.

I love, love CAKE products. I literally have the entire line up for styling curly hair. I have been a long time fan of these products. I have been buying CAKE for years to style my hair both curly and straight.

I hands down love the spell and so does my boyfriend! I love these hair products for styling curly hair. The products help to enhance one’s natural curly/wavy hair. And it’s not all hard and sticky after using the products.

I thought I had wavy hair with a few curls bec my hair transitioned from nearly straight to wavy then added some curls, so I bought the wavy leave in and was so-so about it since it accented my waves but did not impress me other than leaving my hair soft.

I bought this thinking it would be too heavy since my hair is fine and thinning. Boy was I ever shocked and impressed with the curls I have! I wear my hair shorter, no part so I apply and scrunch as best I can.

Curls are defied, soft and beautiful; slightly looser on day 2; revived with spritzer of fine mist on day 2, though looser until I added the Sea Moss gel. Now my curls are beautiful 2 days in a row, ans once on day 3, which I usu do not extend to.

Very happy with this product that air dries soft and defined without weighing down my fine curls. The reviews by ethnically white ladies inspired me to try something that I had thot did not fit my curl type; I am so glad I was wrong!.

I have to give the “Step 3 Curly All-in-One” product 5 stars. I have 3B/3C type of curls but my hair is VERY fine. Getting older, I was looking for a product that I could just work into my hair, comb it out and go.

But my hair strands are SO fine, I didn’t get the desired effect. The spirals were all separate and looked too frizzy (for me). So I used my tried and true method of using my fingers to “train” many strands into larger spirals, and my hair for the first time did not look dry and frizzy.

Even my husband said that my curls looked really hydrated. I was a bit stunned when he used that word to describe hair. And my curls lasted all night, and well onto the next night. It truly tamed frizz and made my hair look hydrated and healthy.

The product may not have reduced my effort put into styling my hair, but, it worked amazingly.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review on a curl product because most of the time I’m underwhelmed. I’ve tried so many expensive and popular products – Kerastase, Redkin, Morrocanoil, Verb, Bumble & Bumble, etc.

Many of these are just okay and each have their pros and cons but nothing has quite checked off all the boxes like this one does! I was very skeptical about all the hype because I figured it would be another “okay” product but nothing special.

Still decided to give it a shot since it’s not unreasonably priced. First, I followed the instructions to a T. After I washed and conditioned my hair, I basically just squeezed out the excess water with my hands as best I could in the shower.

Didn’t use anything else. As soon as I got out of the shower I used a very wide-tooth comb to detangle and that was it. Then applied a small amount of the product through very wet hair. To give an idea of how much I used, I think I use about 3-4 pumps and my hair is about average thickness and shoulder length.

The first day I let it air dry. I’ve since used a diffuser a few times when I’ve had to rush out of the house (it’s winter and cold where I live, can’t always wait for it to air dry). My hair is fairly course and in the front it’s more wavy and in the back it’s got a loose curl.

It’s also very dry and very damaged in some spots due to excessive heat styling. The reason I often heat styled it was because I could never achieve the curl pattern I wanted around my face and so I’d use an iron to curl some pieces.

Over time these sections have just become fried and now REALLY don’t curl well on their own. So basically I made the problem worse. I thought I was looking for the impossible – I wanted soft, shiny, defined curls, reduction of frizz, no need to use a ton of product, repair qualities, and the ability to tame and help curl the really damaged spots in front despite nothing else having worked.

I thought I was asking the impossible. Well, I am shocked. Not only does this product give me soft, touchable, defined curls (not quite as defined when I diffuse, but still defined enough for my liking – it’s just a different look), and the front damaged part.

it’s like magic. It’s curling! And the curl pattern is actually nice looking! There is one small piece that I think is so beyond saving that it will no longer curl. But Lus still made it smooth and not frizzy and I can easily camouflage that one little piece.

Every other damaged piece got smoothed out and also curled! For the first time in a long time my fingers are not itching to grab the curling iron to fix these front pieces. Amazing! If this is what it does to severely damaged hair I can’t wait to see what it does when these damaged pieces eventually grow out, get cut, and become healthy again.

I’ve been converted. On the second day after sleeping the waves and curls definitely are looser but I’m ok with that, they still look good and aren’t frizzy, it’s just a different, looser look. I’m not looking for my hair to look the exact same every day, as long as it looks good, I’m happy to rock different looks.

The only thing I’m not completely in love with is the scent. I find it a bit strong for my liking when smelling it straight from the bottle, but once I put it on my hair it was much lighter and less noticeable.

When it dries I barely even smell it at all. So the only thing I would suggest is different scent options, but scent is such a personal thing so some people will love it. Again though, this is a minor issue because I don’t even notice it once the product is on my hair and dried.

Again, I am shocked and amazed because I’ve never been so excited over a hair care product. The price is even fair, in my opinion. I should note I have not tried the wavy option yet. Because my hair is so dry and damaged I wanted the heavier-duty curly option.

Once my hair is fully healthy again I might try the wavy one to see the difference.

Y’all talked me right into it! I have used OGX Curling Perfection for several years and was quite satisfied but after reading a week’s worth of reviews for Morrocanoil Curl Defining Cream, I decided to give it a shot and made a purchase from Sephora.

My hair is fine, dry and naturally curly and I do mean CURLY. I blow dry to ease the curls a bit as drying naturally leaves me with very tight coils. I received the Morrocanoil yesterday and used it, following the same wash condition regimen as always, and using the same amount of Morrocanoil as I would of OGX.

First thing I noticed was how much longer my hair looks! The Morrocanoil results in looser, less sproingy curls than I get with the OGX and that’s a win for me! The cost for Morrocanoil is much greater, though in hindsight, I could have used less product – not enough less to even out the cost per ounce, but less.

The Morrocanoil did leave a film behind, somewhere between greasy tacky, but not intolerable; I would liken it to the same feeling I get from sea salt spray. All said done, I do love the look I get from the Morrocanoil but I’ll probably save it for going out and stick with the OGX for daily/work wear, simply due to the cost.

I hate that I didn’t like this hair product, because I really like the shampoo and conditioner of this line. But this smoothie was hugely disappointing. It has a very slimy/gluey texture that does not mix/spread into my hair well at all.

The first time I used it my hair was quite wet. I tried to work the product in my hands before applying, but was still left with white splotches I had to wipe away/in. Since it didn’t spread, I ended up using a lot of product.

After a few hours (when my hair would be dried with other products), my hair felt crunchy like a mousse, but sticky like a pomade. It had no natural movement and looked wet. I tried it a 2nd time on damp hair – not as wet as the 1st time – and used a lot less product.

It didn’t have the stickiness like before but looked the same. I had little frizz, but it was still stiff like if I added glue to my hair. Both times it leaves my hair looking fried – similar to when it’s damaged and fried with heat or chemicals.

It’s stiff, whispy, and dry. The container says you can add to dry hair, but it’s like adding glue. Not a good situation. The only positive thing I say about it is that it smells good enough to eat. Unfortunately, I can definitely not recommend this to anyone.

There has been a new formula change to this product once again. I just wanted to put that out there for all of the folks out there that may not know this already. The newest version that’s out contains water as the first ingredient, coconut fruit juice as the second ingredient, and glycerin (vegetable) as the third ingredient.

Shea butter is listed as the 5th ingredient. And, the last ingredient listed is fragrance. At this point, I think, I have bought and tried every version that Shea Moisture has ever come out with this product before.

I can personally say that between the original version and the latest version, there is no major difference that I have found, even though they of course have different formulations of course. If you have a looser curl pattern, you use less, and if you have a more tighter curl pattern, or if you have thick or very thick hair, then you would use more.

It dries completely clear, it has the same scent, but it seems to be less strongly scented than I remember. Do I feel that it’s worth buying? Yes. I have hair where I can’t use styling gel on it back to back, because it will start to dry out.

So, I honestly prefer styling creams the most. But, a really good styling cream isn’t easy to come by. But, because this is a more concentrated cream that will last you a pretty good while, then it is definitely more cost effective to invest in, rather than something that you can buy and that will last you 2 weeks or so.

So, overall, I am really glad that I chose to give this new version that’s out a try, because, I’d rather have soft, touchable hair any day over stiff, crunchy, hair any day.

I originally had a love-hate relationship with SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I think it’s important to know that less is more with this product. Just for reference, I have low porosity 3a/b fine, natural long curly hair.

With other products I’ve been so used to using a ton of product, but when I did this with the curl enhancing smoothie it left my curls weighed down and honestly, tired looking. This product can really build up on your hair if you use too much!!! I started using less product and I started to like it SO MUCH more! So, a little goes a long way!! I usually wet my hair, section it, and rake the product in for best results.

It smells really good and it’s easy to use, but you need to find the right amount that works for YOU. It’s well priced and easy to find at most stores.

Left my hair flat and frizzy. I have S-curl pattern, sometimes even tighter curl pattern depending on the climate, and the length hits me below my shoulders. I live in New Mexico, (Albuquerque), and we have negative-zero humidity here, and hard water.

So that poses some serious challenges when it comes to keeping my hair hydrated, bouncy and supple. HOWEVER: Be-Curly left my hair super FRIZZY and FLAT. LIFELESS. It looks charred. Burned. I have been using the Sap Moss Shampoo and Conditioner, and i absolutely love what it’s been doing for my hair out here, on the high desert.

BUT when i incorported BeCurly, it drained the life out of my hair. Please tell me, how it’s possible to have frizzy hair with zero humidity. I’ll tell you how— it’s this BeCurly formula– it dried out my hair.

Took out all the mouisture and conditioning that the Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner had put in. What a waste of money and effort. And the Aveda return process is too annoying for me. I can’t find my packing slip, and I REFUSE TO PAY FOR RETURN SHPPING COSTS on something that has failed me so completely.

I would give it a half star, to be honest. Not even worth a full star.

I turned to Aveda after committing to high-quality, eco-friendly hair care products. Be Curly Curl Enhancer does not disappoint! My aging hair is wavy-curly and this gives my curls a lovely bounce that lasts.

The fragrance is delicate and not overpowering, which is such a nice change of pace from other products I’ve used. My only complaint is that it feels just a bit heavy. The directions suggest “generous” use but I find I need to be very careful or it weighs my hair down and takes forever to dry.

Even so, my hair looks and feels so healthy. I plan to not run out!.

I love my purchases from ebony line, the wigs are affordable and the hair is good quality human hair. Will definitely order again! I get lots of compliments on my hair.

This was a gift to. My 59 y/o daughter, she was reminiscing how I used it on her hair to keep the curl. Wish it was still on the market it was better than those spray mousse we now have! Ok so I’m highly regretting the fact that I purchased this in January and hadn’t used it till March because now I can’t get a refund. I’ve bought this cream three times before in 2020 and 2021. Loved it so much! It gave great moisture and left my hair soft all week till wash day.

Never had any problems. Finished my last bottle in February but didn’t use my new purchase till now. I knew the ingredients list looked different but didn’t really think it would matter too much. I was severely wrong! Has soon as I put it in my 3b curls it was sticky and didn’t have the same glide that it used too.

I paired it with the Not Your Mothers Mousse. Day 1 & 2 seemed fine and moisturized yet weirdly sticky in spots. Day 4 I had to detangle my hair and I had some hair in my brush but that’s normal. After detangling I put more cream and a bit more mousse on.

Day 6 is wash day and my hair is super dry! Like brittle dry. Had fell out while detangling, fall out while putting on deep conditioner Ann’s running my hands through my hair, and last bit of fall out while combing it out after rinsing deep conditioner off! Normally I never have so much fall out and my hair felt horrible till I used my trusted leave in and the fall out stopped.

Please be warned if you’ve used this in the past it is NOT the same product has before.

🌼 Curl Talk-NYM Cream and Gel🌼 products that all curly girls should try. 🌼 About the Styling Cream 🌟Smells just like the shampoo of the line. I don’t know how to describe the smell but it is very delicate.

🌟 It has protein. ⚠️ It didn’t work for me after the protein mask because it left my hair very hard and with the nutrition mask, it left it dry. I found the point when I realized that it is better to use it after a hydration mask.

The hair is soft and smooth with this cream just after the hydrating masque. ⚠️ It’s hard to find the point of quantity. I feel that I have to use a lot to feel that my hair is absorbing it. 🌟It is preferable to use it with well hydrated hair (I use leave in before putting it on) and literally wet!!! ⚠️If it’s not wet enough, you’re going to feel like you’re getting your hair kind of mushy.

🌟My hair bounces with this cream. I like it a lot because it gives it strength, also helps me with the difficult parts to define (specifically the crown area) and it leaves it soft. ⚠️It doesn’t help me with the frizz.

⚠️ It doesn’t get along with any gel, not even the one of NYM. It’s a mess. I still haven’t figured out which gel might work for me. ✨ Being rich in protein, I don’t feel like it’s for everyone. Perhaps it works much better for those with processed, damaged, high porosity hair.

🌼Gel ⚠️It doesn’t smell good but it doesn’t smell bad either😂 it’s weird. ⚠️Even though it says “medium hold” it’s very light but you still don’t have to use much to help with frizz. 🌟 It mix kind of weird with the cream.

🌟In my hair when I put it on, I feel like it dries it out but once it’s dry, it doesn’t feel hard. ⚠️ I didn’t like the gel because it’s as if the beauty left by the cream was destroyed by the gel. I feel that it tangles me and I find it difficult to define my hair when I use it.

🌼About both: ⚠️ Both come in 177 ml presentation. I got these 286ml ones in a Christmas Ulta promotion (not Ultra) with @thecurlpty. In the USA, it cost approx 14 dollars, with the girl each one came out at 23 dollars (yes, it’s expensive in Panamá).

🌟 It does lengthen your definition (at least 3 days wearing a satin hat) if you don’t wear a hat, not even the satin cover will help you. The definition is easily lost if the hair is not protected at night.

This stuff sells like hot cakes! If you see it in stock, definitely don’t hesitate to pick up a bottle or two, because it is super popular, as well as, being super affordable. This gel doesn’t have a super thick or super thin consistency at all.

It has that perfect consistency to right in the middle that makes it super easy to work with. This product has so sulfate surfactants, dyes, drying alcohols, silicones, mineral oil, parabens or phthalates in it (for all those that may be curious).

It has a pleasant smell. This product is designed to enhance the look of ones waves, curls or coils, plus, it can also be used for creating slicked back styles with two. Now, I do have very dry, fine textured, low density, wavy hair.

This styling gel doesn’t weigh my hair down in any way, or make it feel greasy in any way or make new hair feel super crispy or hard either. Yes, it most definitely does provide hold to ones hair, but it’s definitely not like a lot of these gels on the market that are so drying to the hair, till you can.

’the even rub your fingers through your hair after applying such or else your fingers will get stuck. Now, in order to gets lots of volume and major curl definition, you will need to use a diffuser. I let my hair airdry.

And, this product doesn’t take almost half the day or longer like a lot of other styling products that I have tried. I don’t personally practice the CGM, but if you are someone that does, this styling gel would be absolutely perfect to add into your regimen.

For all pf you out there that are tired of buying gems only to ha e them flake on you, even when they claim they won’t this gel truly does not flake up at all. This honestly is the best inexpensive drugstore gel that I have ever used.

And, no matter what type of curly hair you have, I truly can’t recommend enough that you definitely give this gel a try ASAP!.

I got this at the store today because I am trying to embrace my wavy hair for the summer and put less heat on it. I originally went to get the lightweight curl cream and figured I would get both. I tried this today on day 2 hair and I’m pretty impressed.

It reformed my curls and took the frizz away. The only reason I deducted a star is because I felt like I needed to spray my hair with water to get the full effect. I was hoping this alone would do the trick.

I will still continue to use this though and maybe on day 3,4,5 I can use without water. I have hair extensions as well and it works on them too. I have fine hair and so far I don’t think it’s made my hair greasy.

Good product if you’re staring to embrace your natural hair like me.

Ordered this 3-piece kit and absolutely love the shampoo and the leave-in or 3-way conditioner. Formerly my hair was ultra thick, curly, and long. After a fall and some bad joint health, the majority of my lush hair is gone.

Now my hair is very short, very sparse, and somewhat lifeless, especially in the dry and hot climate I now reside. This shampoo and conditioner work better at bringing some life back. At the very least, the day following the nighttime usage is pretty good as I don’t have to stress as much with patching “holes” to my scalp.

I would recommend! I have now ordered larger sizes to hopefully refill these very small sizes so I can use traveling.

Okay, so I’m not sure if this is CG approved or not. But, if it’s not, WHO CARES? This stuff is AWESOME! First, I mist my hair with water. I do not drench my hair. I just give my hair a really good spray.

Second, I spray the Bumble and Bumble Activator all over my hair approximately two rounds. Lastly, I NEVER touch my hair again with my bare hands or finger’s. After spraying my Bumble and Bumble Curl Activator, I begin to PLOP, scrunch and swirl my curls.

I have attached a video to show PLOPPING. Ladies, if you’re using this properly, you’ll love your second, third and fourth day hair MUCH more than “just washed”!.

On days I’m not up to blowing my hair straight I use the Curl definer. I have naturally wavy to curly hair that air drying alone creates a frizzy poof of a mess on my head. I found PM Twirl around curl definer by accident several years ago while looking for a non greasy frizz control product.

I figured what could it hurt to try it. Wow I finally found an option to help soften and define my curls without leaving a heavy crunchy texture which most gels and curly hair products do. I love it leaves my curly hair feeling light and soft and no sticky residue.

I took off one star because I haven’t been able to find my favorite Curl Definer at my local Ulta retailer and I ran out some time ago.

A great styling lotion for wavy and curly hair. Defined curls without the crunch of a gel. Apply when hair is damp and twirl and coil around with your fingers. I love it!

I have dirty blonde, thick, wavy, slightly frizzy hair, and I have never found a hair product that gave me soft, defined, frizz-free curls. This product gives me just that! I cannot believe that I finally found a product that leaves my hair soft and my curls defined.

I was mesmerized by the results! Directions for use: After taking a shower, either towel dry, wring out, or air dry your hair until it is still wet, but not damp and full of water. Next, with a wide-tooth comb, brush hair so that there are no knots.

Then, layer by layer, pick up pieces of your hair and spray thoroughly, making sure that you are spraying the sections where you want your curls/waves defined. I go ahead and spray my entire head of hair – BC IT’S JUST THAT GOOD! Comb through after spraying.

After about 30 minutes to an hour, I go back and brush out my hair with the wide-tooth comb again, just to make sure my hair doesn’t get crunchy. If you don’t comb your hair again after spraying, your hair may end up more crunchy than you’d want; if you do comb it again, your hair will have no crisp, and it will be as soft as can be.

I’ve been using this product for about 2 years now and it has been amazing. When the lawsuit came out about a different brands line having a chemical that has something to do with formaldehyde, I checked everything I use on my hair and it wasn’t in anything.

About 3-4 weeks ago I started a new bottle and have been losing my hair like crazy. I have very thick long curly hair. I’m using the exact same stuff I had been using when I checked months ago and the only thing I had to repurchase was this product (so all of my other bottles stayed the same).

One morning something told me to double check just this product so I did and ofc I find that it had that chemical in it. I stopped using it immediately. I came on here to see if anyone else said anything about it and noticed that the ingredient list is not up for this product.

They also recently changed their packaging. The amount of hair I lost within the last 3-4 weeks is unbelievable. I’ve always been a person who takes really good care of my hair and what I put in it and I was completely blindsided when my hair was falling out in chunks.

I do not recommend this product to anyone.

After Nexus stopped making City Shield products*, I have not found a better product. This Curl Envy Creme CHI Silk Infusion oil are what I use now, after a lot of trial and error. I have thick Irish curly hair, if that helps.

So, after washing my hair, I massage in the Silk Infusion oil first to nourish my hair, then apply some of this Marc Anthony Curl Envy Creme to provide soft curls and define the curls. I find the Creme works a LOT better than Marc Anthony’s Lotion for Curls, and I find the Marc Anthony “conditioner” to be a waste of money.

Using only the CHI Silk Infusion by itself, I still did not get the curl definition that I get with this Marc Anthony Curl Creme, and if I use only the Curl Creme, I don’t get the healthy maintenance of my hair.

So, using both keeps my hair healthy and curls defined. * FYI: Because Nexxus stopped making City Shield products 3 years ago, do not buy from EBay or Amazon, as anything you would buy now are rancid, and greatly expired.

Love using this on my sons hair. He is 8 with hair down his back and biracial. I’ve used it once or twice on me but that was neither here nore there… my hair is past my butt so there’s no point…it helped but not like it should since my hair is so long the weight of it pushes it down to be less wavy/curly and more straight/longer small waves.

Not really much of a scent – I wish it did but I know a lot of people enjoy something a lot more subtle so if you do then this is for you. Pretty sure I got this at Rite Aid for 50 to 75% off. that’s why I grabbed it and one or two other Marc A products to test out since it’s been awhile I’ve tried anything from him in awhile.

Still a great brand and been loving it since a teen. I have yet to try anything from this brand that had been a flop! Wish I had pics of our hair / or could post them. My phones been acting up and will only let me post if I take pics on the spot.
