20 Best Curling Iron For Extensions (2023 Updated)

I really want to love this, and there is only one small detail that makes this miss the mark for me and I hope I’m not the only one. I’ve had this for several years and still havent figured out how to get around it.

The small black rubber ring at the end of the barrel. I understand it is there to prevent the hot barrel from resting directly on the counter top. BUT. This ring sticks out too much so when you have your hair wrapped around the barrel and go to slide it off the end, this rubber ring catches my hair and messes up the curl everytime.

It grabs the end of the curl and almost turns it inside out so you get that weird lumpy lopsided curl that you have to redo. Very annoying. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get around this please tell me!!.

I just bought this last week. It was $70. It is the 1 inch barrel model. The pivoting feature makes it super easy to curl your entire head from front to back. It gives you the results of the trendy beachy waves that all the it girls with long layers are wearing.

It is professional quality for sure. Even the box and packaging are fancy. It is a wand so it doesn’t have a clip like a traditional curling iron of the past. The curling wand is the hair tool of now and of the future.

My hair held the style all day long until I showered. I got so many compliments on my hair the first day I used the wand. People asking me what salon I went to or if I got extensions. This brand Kristen Ess is no joke I can’t wait to try her other beauty tools, haircare products and hair accessories.

I recommend the pivoting curling wand to everyone who wants to rock long and beachy waves to be on trend and beautiful!.

I wanted to love this wand, but it’s horrible. I wish I would have read the reviews a little deeper before purchasing. I have short hair, and I have a lot of it, but it’s very fine. Even on the highest setting (holding it in my hair until a sizzle) this thing didn’t give me one single curl.

I do not understand. I thought I was doing something wrong until I saw my other fine-haired girlies say the same thing! Ugh!.

I’m trash with anything to do with hair styling. I’ve tried curling with a straight iron, and I’ve purchased various curling irons and wands over the years but I couldn’t get consistent results. I decided to buy the autopilot, and wow what a game changer! I now have cute af curls.

My hair was around shoulder length when I first purchased the iron and the process was a bit smoother as it is a little trickier to use if you have longer hair. That aside, like other reviewers have said start from the middle of your hair and work downward.

I watched a YouTube video on how to do it because I am challenged with these things. Lol. Anyway, I’ve had this iron for over a year now and it’s a gem! I definitely recommend it. I’ll be purchasing more Amika products in the future.

I have pretty long hair so clamped curling irons are always somewhat hard for me. I usually stick to wands just because it’s easier to get a better curl. I will say however, this curling iron is pretty solid, and kinda fun! It takes me less time than a wand and I feel like it does a pretty good job of giving me that beachy wave curl.

One drawback is you have to be fairly meticulous about where you clamp and twirl otherwise your hair falls out of the clamp easily (I don’t totally hate this though because then I don’t end up scorching my hair by accident haha).

It also takes a bit of getting used to as well. Once you use it a couple times you get the hang of it though. Last plus is your hair doesn’t get stuck/caught so it doesn’t pull on your hair/ and cause pain.

Overall pretty solid and I’m liking it!.

I am not that good at fixing my hair. I think this works well when I am curling away from my face, but I haven’t figured out what I am doing wrong while curling towards my face. My hair doesn’t hold a curl for very long until it all kind of blends together.

I was hoping a different curling iron would help. Again, I am not sure that my tools have as much to do with it as inexperience. I don’t have to wait as long to hold the curl as I did with my Hot Tools curler.

My hairdresser made beautiful curls in my daughter’s hair, which is also very hard to curl. So I guess I like it as well as anything else, and I have seen its potential. I guess there is just a learning curve.

I’m not sure what it is but every style tool I have tried from amika has not worked with my hair. And this crimper was no different. I loved the size of the tool, it is very large and would make styling longer thicker hair faster.

One it caused my hair to burn, just like the air dryer brush from the brand did to my hair. Which i found odd because other tools won’t burn my hair at higher temps. My hair smelt burnt for about two washes after using it.

The waves also did not stay at all in my hair. They literally stayed for 5min and then fell. I could not get the waves to hold no matter what technique I used or products I used. It made my hair really frizzy too and took away all the natural shine of my hair.

Overall horrible styling tool for my thick long hair. I had to rewash and style every time I attempted to use it.

Mermaid waves for days! I really enjoyed this tool and would have given 4. 5 stars if I could have. It’s not perfect but definitely great. My hair is very straight and lifeless on any given day. I used the waver on next day hair and it has given me the most fun waves ever.

It gets plenty hot for my hair type but I made sure to use smallish sections so the waves would hold. They are shiny and bouncy. Not frizzy. It did take a little bit of getting used to and the ends can sometimes pop back into the iron sideways if you’re not careful.

I watched a few online tutorials and so covered a few tricks for getting even waves. The hair will slide into place for the next wave if you’re gentle with it. And when doing the top, angle the barrels slightly away from the hair to avoid the crimp line showing.

It’s expensive but I’m ok with the price since I 100% can’t get this look without it. I’m really happy I purchased it.

I just bought this and did tons of research. I read so many reviews and watched videos. I took the plunge last week and was so excited to try it! I have long thick, fine hair that is frizzy before styling.

I sprayed it and brushed it with amika the shield to protect it and as texture. This tool worked beautifully on the left side of my head. When I worked on the right side at all angles, smallish sections, changing the way I held the tool, I could not get a good wave whatsoever.

Maybe my hair is different on one side of my head? My point is, if it could get hotter than 390 degrees I would love it! I’m so bummed to return it. I’m going to have to look for a quality wave crimper that gets hotter.

I would recommend it for anyone who does not need such high heat. The crimps made my hair so shiny on the good side.

While initially seeming a little bulky, it’s actually quite lightweight and is easier on the arms to use because you don’t have to use both arms to hold your hair onto a wand. I was nervous about my hair getting tangled or stuck, but if it does start to pull an extra hair on accident it will start beeping a incessantly until you restart it, and I’ve never had any trouble getting my hair out of it.

I love the feature where it beeps when it’s done so you get consistent curls every time. It can be pretty awkward to try to get your back sections of hair but that’s pretty much the same with any hair curler or flat iron! what I like the most about this is that it’s really easy to get beachy style waves/Curls because it leaves the last like inch straight which makes the curls look a little more finished and updated, and it’s fantastic that there’s never any weird little crimps in it like from a regular curling iron, and I love the fact that I don’t ever burn my fingers like when using my wand.

However, I don’t think that the technology of this product is worth the high price. I’m very interested actually to know if any of the knockoffs products that are a fraction of the price work as well.

If none of them worked even close to as well then maybe I might be more inclined to say it is a better value, but in my experience there have been lots of more budget options that are comparable to CHI’s other products, without the huge markup.

Omg. This thing is a time saver, I have relatively long thick hair so it takes at least 45min-1hr to curl my hair. Now with this? 15-20min I genuinely am shocked. The first time I took 25 min but that’s only because I didn’t know how to use it properly lol.

My hair gets stuck sometimes when I put too much in (they advise against it lol) but even when it gets “stuck” it immediately shuts off and a warning beep alarms me to remove my hair. It doesn’t hurt either.

I like how depending on the time you can do loose to poodle curles so it’s very versatile. I’m buying both my sister and my mom this for Christmas 10/10 product. (I was not paid nor rewarded for this review I just genuinely love this product lol).

I love this curling iron. Used to use CHI and my curls never lasted, fall flat so fast. This curling iron works for different hair types (all my friends have now bought one because of using it at my house) heats up fast and last long.

My curls would last through long days of dance and cheering at games. I curl my hair and last for 3-4 days with just needing to touch up small strands! GET IT!!.

I love this set! It doesn’t make my hair smell burnt! It curls great, but are not strong enough for curls for the next day if anyone is one like me to keep it overnight. I love the interchangeable wand sizes.

The material on this is great. The quality is good but it’s a little heavy. I haven’t really looked it up but I hope there are more sizes to change the wand. I have never gotten Paul Mitchell before but so far it performs better than the T3 set (total disappointment).

I have a T3 dryer, so I was curious about this new T3Curl ID 1. 25” Smart Curling Iron w/ Interactive Touch Interface. Read the instructions! I often try to figure things out on my own, but this curling iron is high tech and makes way more sense when you read about it first.

It’s like a Star Wars light saber and it’s intuitive. I love the sleek design! It’s gorgeous, lightweight, has a long cord, and heats up fast. The barrel is a smooth ceramic material and makes a huge difference on the healthy appearance of my hair vs using a more traditional iron.

It took me a bit to get used to holding it, but I was adjusting to a new tool after using something else for so long. It’s actually more ergonomic, but I was used to something less ergonomic. How ironic.

So, it might take a minute to get used to how it feels. I have long, highlighted, medium thickness, naturally wavy, easily tangled hair (and a lot of it!) I typically curl with a smaller barrel on the highest heat setting.

I use a much lower heat setting on this T3 iron and I think that in combination with the ceramic barrel makes my hair look and feel smoother, softer, and healthier. It also doesn’t make my hair fall flat, which is so nice! I end up using less styling products, too.

The larger barrel creates a softer look, like the models in the photos. When I use this iron it makes it look like I had a professional blowout and my style lasts longer than usual. Again, it doesn’t make my hair go flat AND I am using less hair styling products.

So, if you expect lots of smaller curls, you’ll be disappointed because the barrel is too big for that style. If you want larger soft waves or to look like you had a salon blowout, you’ll love this tool! Since receiving this I haven’t used any of my other styling tools and I have healthier looking and feeling hair.

The retail cost of this is on the high end, however, the way my hair looks now is worth it. This was kindly gifted in exchange for my honest review.

I have working on improving the condition of my hair, as I’ve been coloring, drying & styling it for years. I purchased this curling iron for $250. 00, thinking it would be a good one given it has many options for hair type (color treated etc).

and heat settings. It’s a beautiful styling tool, however, I could never get it to shut off. The double tap to trigger the settings never worked. The plug in I have to use in my old home is not easily accessible so it was a pain to unplug to shut it off.

While I liked how my hair turned out, I ended up returning within 3 days as the sensor just didn’t cut it and I was worried I’d have issues with the rest of the sensors. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I kept trying.

I bought this to replace another curling iron I was not happy with. This is a great product, works very well for me. I have arthritis in my hands and I need a curling iron that is easy to hold. This one closes tightly, so I don’t have to worry about it slipping when I curl my hair.

My hair is shoulder length, but shorter on top, which is where I need the curl for volume. I can get a great style with this item, am very happy with it.

For my thin hair babes — THIS WORKS. I’m not sure what the other people who reviewed saying it didn’t work for their thin hair were doing wrong but my style held up with no product other than a heat protectant.

I took a nap, rode in the car with the windows down, and constantly played with it and my style still looked incredible. For the price of this curling iron, you absolutely cannot beat this. Buy it.

Ok I have always had trouble finding a curling iron that works for my hair and stays put. This is my third curling iron over the years (conair one didn’t work at all for me, L’ange is nice but curls don’t stay for me).

I know can curl my full head and it stays in place not only for that dAy but next day too! I like to put my hair in ponytail and then curl to add variety than when I just straighten hair. Love love love.

Bed head is where it’s at, their wave hot tool idk what it is call works really well too. And it’s affordable.

I live in Missouri, so I need a curling iron that the curls will last through the heat and the humidity, and I’m happy to report that this curling iron exceeded expectations for that requirement. I curled my hair on Sunday night and my curls were so soft and shiny from this iron.

My curls did fall a little after sleeping on them, so I re-curled the front two pieces and was good to go. Tuesday was more of a beach wave look, but the waves held all day again and I plan to wear the waves again Wed.

(I curled freshly washed and dried hair and did not use hair spray or dry shampoo) Pros: leaves hair soft and shiny, curls last through heat and humidity, curls hold for many days without hair spray, curls are a good size for a classy look and fall nicely into beach waves.

Cons: the curling iron cord does not have any place to go in storage, I attached a Velcro loop to solve this issue I did read that people had trouble using this iron without burning themselves. I did not have this issue, but I use curling irons often.

I’d like to start off by saying I have never been a fan of curling irons because I seem to always get burned by not being able to hold the tool steady. The texture of this iron was perfect when it came to being able to grab onto it and not slip or drop it while twirling my hair.

Another thing I loved is that my hair always tends to snag on the barrel because I have thick natural curly hair and other irons have this all metal barrel that just stuck to my hair. Not with this iron! It’s so smooth with my hair there was no snagging whatsoever and I could get a bit closer to the root to smooth out my natural texture.

I also love the fact that it has an on button and that’s it ! No setting needed. This iron is great for medium to long hair. It gives a very loose curl I really do love it.

I am a Licensed Cosmetologist and I bought this in 2012 when I was in school. I do recommend it for professionals. If your not a professional your going to have trouble with it. its not exactly for beginners.

It is a marcel iron. there are regular curling irons and marcel ones. Meaning it is very difficult for beginners. I was definitely satisfied with it, and I think it does work well. I will say that I prefer a wand nowadays in my career and for my own hair.

But I won’t lie I do use this one to this day as well.

Absolutely amazing!!!! It not only is so sleek and beautiful looking the rotating feature is bomb!! It helps you curl efficiently and leaves the hair so smooth. Now would i recommend this to someone who struggles with doing their own hair, absolutely not.

It’s hard to get used to and if you already struggle i wouldn’t recommend this one until you’ve mastered your own curls with a standard iron. But for professional stylists. yes!!!!.

I love this curling iron, but I will give a disclaimer that there’s a bit of a learning curve because the barrel rotates. Before you buy it, I would definitely watch some videos to see if it’s something you would be comfortable trying, or buy it somewhere with a good return policy in case it doesn’t work for you.

I was looking forward to trying out this Kristen Ess Ceramic Curling Iron as my trusty Conair ceramic curling iron is getting up there in years and deteriorating a little. Unfortunately, I was not at all impressed with how this iron worked.

The curling iron itself is packaged nicely and certainly has a high quality look. The digital temperature read out is a good feature, as is the automatic shutoff for those of us who have nightmares of accidentally leaving their curling irons on and burning their house down.

I did find that I would have to push the button hard to get the temperature to change or to turn the iron on and off. As others have mentioned, the plastic tip at the top of the iron is too short and gets very warm so it’s not of much use.

I found the curling iron pulled at my hair quite a bit. It does not run through the hair smoothly. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, that is wavy. After using the iron and giving the hair time to completely cool before loosening the curls, I found my hair looked frizzy.

The curls also did not hold up well during the day. Since I’m working 100% from home right now due to the pandemic, I’m not walking to and from a train, back and forth to work outside in all sorts of weather as I normally would.

If the curls can’t hold up inside my house all day, they aren’t going to hold up out in the elements. It’s been two weeks since I started using this curling iron. Due to its unimpressive performance, I’ll be returning it.

liked how quickly it heats up, and how it has a digital temperature display. auto-shut off is a good feature too. however, these things aren’t enough to make this curling iron one that i’d recommend.

the major downside to this iron is the weak clamp/spring. it’s a very light clamp, so it’s impossible to wind your hair tightly; the clamp loosens and hair slips off. would not recommend this iron. I have fine hair, maybe it works/clamps better on thick hair?.

Overall I like the effect that the larger barrels have on my hair and so far this product has operated well, but the place where you put your thumb to open the waver gets so hot that after about 10 minutes of use it’s difficult to even touch.

Also, the on/off button is put in a place where I constantly accidentally touch it and turn it off. Another downfall of this product is that the material that is wrapped around the stand melts (learned the hard way)—the weight of the waver makes it so that it shifts easily and it did just that when I wasn’t paying attention and a part of the stand melted.

These aren’t dealbreakers but they’re definitely annoying design flaws.

Works amazingly. I went to beauty school and worked at a salon. First, you need to use a heat protectant if you want any integrity left in your hair follicles. Second, hair masks do wonders to keep your hair healthy after all that blow drying and styling.

Moreover, I see some people saying it doesn’t work. First of all, curls don’t hold in some peoples hair. Thats on you. Another reason why is that if your hair is so fried beyond belief and you need the hottest setting to curl it, then your hair is already very damaged.

Its best not to go above 200 degrees if you have thin hair, and you can get away with 200-300 for thick hair, but its still not ideal. If you regularly are unable to creat a curl and are using the highest setting on this, then yes your hair will be fried and curls with most irons won’t take to it because your hair follicle is literally dried, fried, shattered, and destroyed.

Now back to the iron, its amazing. It works perfectly every single time. Its wonderful for 60-90s hairstyles. When using a curling iron, let it preheat, and then when you’re going to curl a strand, choose a piece that isn’t too thick each time.

Skim over the strand once to preheat the strand, then go back in again and curl that same strand. It will stay longer that way and you won’t be frying your hair to a crisp. Beauty hurts but it doesn’t have to be burnt and crispy.

This curling iron is one or my favorites, and ive owned tons of different brands and styles etc. This one is nicely made, it makes my curls beautiful and it has a temperature setting so you can decide how hot you want to make the curling iron.

It is gold so that’s a nice touch and makes it different than alot of the other curling irons out there. The handle is nice and has an etched piece where your thumb or fingers go so it’s nicer to hold onto that other ones I’ve used.

This heats up extremely fast and so that’s a big plus, especially for someone like me who is often running late or in a hurry! Overall i would recommend this curling iron, and the hot tools brand, to beginners, and professionals alike! It is great! It can be a little spendy, depending on what you’re used to spending on hair tools, I would say it is worth spending the money on it.

You can tell a noticeable difference in this tool vs other tools that are of comparison.

I really wanted an upgrade from my conair curling wand. I purchased this so excited for thick bouncy curls. However, I do not know if my curling iron is defective or not but I feel as though it won’t heat to the max temperature.

I set it at 400 degrees and hold the curl for upwards of 30 seconds. The curl still comes out loose and will lose any shape after about 2 hours. I find myself reaching for my old iron more. However, I really do love the barrel size and with the curls loosening within an hour it creates an effortless wavy hair look.

So I use this iron more for a wavy hair look than for curled hair.

My Granddaughter has very long, thick, uncontrollable hair. She’s coming into the age where she wants to do different things to it and putting curls in it is one of those things. She’s tried other curling wands and they either won’t give her the curls she’s wanting or they fall out without a matter of minutes.

I heard about L’ange and read the reviews so I thought, this would be perfect for her hair. I hope. It is!! This wand is Amazing on her hair!! It gives her the lasting curls she wants plus it also helps to control her unruly hair.

So I have always used heat products for my hair growing up an I’m 23 years old, I’ve used every straightener and curling iron imaginable. With that being said, this wand is so so so so dangerous. It’s comes with one glove but even with the glove, I have barely even touched my skin to it.

And I have a 2nd degree burn the size of a QUARTER, from barely touching it, or by accident to my skin. It has no heat settings what so ever. And for it to get this hot without any heat setting is actually ridiculous.

I will never use this wand again. My hand is hurting so bad. And would not want this one anyone else. It curls great but I’m not risking my skin again. Please please be careful is using this wand.

Because this particular curling iron was recommended to me by an YouTube vlogger, I purchased the L’ange product. Though it is a beautiful-looking curling iron, not having a protective tip on the end of the curling iron caused me to accidentally burn my arm, not once but twice, even while still wearing the protective glove, which was included with the product.

I now have 2nd degree burns on my arm!! In addition, after doing some research, the iron’s heat is 410 degrees, much too hot for the welfare of my hair. I was told a curling iron’s heat should be around 350-370 degrees at the highest.

Unfortunately, there was not an option to reduce the heat on this L’ange curling iron. This was a very disappointing purchase and one I greatly regret.

It is a beautiful curling iron but my curls didn’t hold throughout the day. Also, the power button is soo easy to press and it’s located right near the handle. My hand would push it accidentally while curling my hair.

This happened many, many times. I only noticed because my hair would stop curling and I’d have to look at the iron and noticed it was off and cooled down. I ended up returning this item for this reason because of the frustration it caused while doing my hair.

I love the product! Pros for me are how nice my hair glides through the clamp and around the barrel, no pulling or tugging at all. The heat is even and powerful enough to get the job done. Cons are that the adjustment setting button is not placed well causing constant readjustments due to accidental bumps and for me the barrel size is just a little to big for some sections of my hair.

I would buy it in a one inch in a heartbeat!!!!!.
