The Backcountry Access Climbing Skins are extremely versatile on all sorts of skintracks. Its mohair blend grips well when the track is icy, and glides well when you’re setting through deep powder. Backcountry Access redesigned the hybrid glue to pull apart better than before, and it resists tackiness regardless of the weather.
The skins include cleaning wipes for the glue, a stuff sack for compact storage, and cleaning wipes for the glue.
Once I had these skins trimmed and sized to my skis, I was blown away with how easily they pulled apart. And as a result, I was immediately sceptical of their ability to stick to my ski bases. Thing is.
they did. And they actually did it really well. Lap after lap after lap. The mohair mix offers the perfect balance of grip and glide. They also pack up very efficiently and don’t hog a lot of room in my coat or pack.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning BCA’s trim tool that comes included with these skins. It rules! Best trim tool out there. It’s precise, predictable, and super comfortable in the hand. I know it’s a minor detail, but it really leave an impression.
Climbing skins should be black, so they can dry faster in the sun. These skins are. They come with a nice cutting tool and the fasteners seem good. I have not used these in combat yet, so I can’t comment on the cement.
They are very robust and seem like they will be great. They are not super light, but I would not hold that against skins that seem so durable (more important).
First time ever touring this year. I’ve used these twice so far. Haven’t slipped or had any issues on glide. I originally wanted POMOCA skins, but local shop mentioned that BCA released these brand new this year.
Glad I went with these. You won’t regret this purchase!.

Very tacky looking, looks very little like the picture. Very difficult to apply, and is nearly impossible to get seamed correctly. Also, you are told to apply heat after the wrap for 5-10 minutes, but my wrap actually melted a small hole in the skin, even though my heat gun was on medium, and was 15-20 inches away, and I was moving it back and forth and not holding it in one spot.
They are designed to fit 9mm and. 40 caliber double stack magazines, however they will also work on the larger. 45 cal mags. The kit includes pieces for the bottom of six magazines, plus an additional back slide plate cover.

TranslateShow in original languageОчень круто и нестандартно. Скажу сразу, что ранее не сталкивался со всеми возможными наклейками, поэтому для меня это стало чем-то новым. Безумно понравилась ее плотность, будет выполнять еще и защитную функцию.
Gecko Mohair – Climbing Skins Gecko were the 1st brand to develop so called “glue-less” climbing skins and over nearly ten years have incrementally improved the formulation to give ever better performance and reliability.
Gecko have been manufacturing 100% mohair skins from the beginning, with an excellent variety of mohair that gives both superb glide combined with good grip and durability. Features: Gecko Mohair Climbing Skins The glue-less design of these skins means these skins are considerably lighter than traditional glued skins.
Glue-less skins are quick to apply and remove and are easy to handle even in windy conditions. They can be rolled up and packed in the backpack or jacket pockets quickly and cleanly. No glue residue to stick on the skis, no need to carry spare glue or adhesive strips, no need for “netting” or protective strips after use.
Gecko skins are waterproof thanks to a hydrophobic treatment that prevents water absorption. Skins can be cleaned by washing at 30°C in the washing machine or can be rinsed with cold water to remove dirt.
Gecko skins are resistant to cold (-50°C) and heat (65°C) and are ecologically clean, being produced without chemical additives.
I have Madshus Nordic Skis, 5cm width. Because of the very thin tip, the top clips kept pushing off and unrolling the skin under the ski. Also, at cold temperatures, these skins just don’t stick, and snow impeeds the silicon glue system.
For me, they were a poor buy. Getting good advice was near impossible. On the plus side, when they do work, they are excellent. Need a fat ski for these skins.
The Nomad are splitboard skins from Jones. They offer high performance in all snow conditions. The Nomad skins are made of a mixture of 70% Mohair fibres and 30% synthetic nylon fibres. This combination provides a perfect balance between glide, grip and durability.
The fibres have been coated with both EVER DRY 3. 0treatment, improving performance on wet snow. The Quick Tension tail clip adjusts in seconds, allowing perfect skin tension. Compatible with all Jones splitboards from 2016 onwards.
I bought these 2 winters ago. I go out in the backcountry 2 days a week as long as there is snow. By the second season the skins were leaving tons of glue on my board and this year the plastic on the toe clip of one of the skins broke when I was pulling my skin off the board.
I had a 5 mile traverse back to the car. The most disappointing thing was that Jones wouldn’t even talk to me. Unfortunately, it happened outside on the 1 year warranty. I had splurged for the expensive skins and expected high quality gear.
I have had much cheaper skins last me 2x as long (actually, they never broke, I just got new skins). Another problem is there isn’t any way to fix these. You have to rip out the stitching and buy the black diamond toe clips you can rivet on.
I wouldn’t waste my money in these. Overpriced and won’t last. And if you have any issues, jones won’t be there to help.
Experienced rider but new to splitboarding so take this review with a grain of salt if you like. But as a first timer I found these incredibly difficult to work with. I bought these end of season last year for my women’s dream catcher split and have used them a total of four times, so perhaps they just need more breaking in.
First off, they were nearly impossible to remove from plastic backing and once I got them laid out onto my base, which made trimming very difficult (recommend doing this with an extra set of hands for first time).
Trimming tool worked great and instructions were clear and easy to follow. I’m not the biggest fan of the tip and tail clips as they’re quite flimsy and take some adjusting. I find myself having a harder time than most removing my skins during transitions so at least you know they stay on your split nice and securely.
My biggest issue is the glue left on my board’s base. I made sure to dry and store them properly in cool place immediately after use and it’s still a problem. I’ll still use but will probably try different product in future.
As I already had a Jones Splitboard I was in need of new skins as mine were a couple of years old. I was looking for skins that are quick to apply and to remove and have the needed grip on the snow. As I do a lot of splitboard tours in the season I have to be able to rely on my gear.
I just checked which size fits my splitboard and chose type A. I did 5 tours with the skins in different conditions, on icy glaciers, on slushy warm snow and on hard packed trails. They held up everywhere without problems, I noticed that Jones really developed the skins well.
I like the fact that they clip on to a Jones Splitboard really fast, so you can start your tour as soon as possible. The included net makes sure you can pack up the skins on top of the mountain without the hassle of using foil.
They also include a practical bag to store the skins, so you can pack them up and put them into your backpack. All-in-all a very practical thing to have with you while splitboarding. You can notice that it was made specifically for a Jones splitboard, which makes the whole experience even better.
I would recommend this product to every splitboarder out there, it will not let you down.

The plastic tip and tail attachments look a little “cheap” but in fact do work well. Glue-less skins require less tension in the elastic tail strap than glued skins, just enough to give some tension, not more.
The Gecko Mix 200 cm are skins from Gecko. The skins are manufactured in Austria using a revolutionary silicone system. They adhere to skis, both dry and wet, thanks to the action of molecular forces.
Handling is all the easier, as the skins no longer have to be folded over a protective film. GECKO therefore meets the expectations of ski tourers who are looking for a practical and easy to use skin that can be put on and taken off without force but also offers excellent grip on the ascent, just like a Gecko on a glass surface.
