20 Best Cruiser Skateboard For Beginners (2023 Updated)

This is an awesome little board. I went with the non-flashy, all-black version as to not draw attention and cause problems with airlines, museums, or train staff. I would’ve gone with the equivalent offering from the Penny brand, but their decks were too flexy and not grippy enough to inspire much confidence.

I’m 6’3, 175lbs, with size 11. 5 shoes (I wore Nike Court Vision Lows for this trip). I found the size of this board to be just right for zooming around European cities and small enough to carry through museums or other attractions in hand or strapped to a backpack.

It might be a little too small for some beginners, but it can certainly be used to navigate most obstacles (including over sections of cobblestone) and speeds with some practice. The deck is grippy and stiff enough to utilize the kick tail.

The axles are stable, even with the risers that come included. I was a fan of the wheels, still fast and soft with no chipping or flat spots after multiple miles a day for 3 weeks abroad. As for the bearings, I had swapped them for Bones Super Reds and put the new Globe ABEC7 bearings in another board I had.

The Bones bearings are phenomenal, but may not have been worth the upgrade if I hadn’t had a use for the new Globe bearings as the Globe bearings are also pretty great. I would recommend using the stock bearings until they fail before considering upgrading.

The best part is that the board is small enough to count as a “personal item” far carry-on purposes. In addition to a carry-on sized backpack (that was packed with all of my other items), I was able to carry the board by itself onto my American Airlines and Iberia Air flights and onto many trips by train.

If strapped tightly, it can also count as part of a carry-on backpack. Both travel options worked for me with no questions or concerns from airline staff. Smiles all around!.

The Molokai color (aka the red board) is not as described on the site. The bottom color is closer to a coral color in real life and the top of the deck has tropical flowers all over it. 100% not what I was expecting when I purchased it.

Evo needs to do a better job of updating the product description and photos. I had to return because it was absolutely not what I knew the 8 year old boy would want for his first skateboard. I continue to give this 4 stars because the board itself I am sure is great as I personally love my own Globe Cruiser.

Got this after trying to cruise on my park skateboard and I was tired of flying off every time I hit a crack. This board is perfect for cruising on sidewalks and even rougher streets. The big soft wheels make going over most cracks a breeze.

After riding this around, my park board seems so slow! Just keep in mind that, being a cruiser, it isn’t really meant for most tricks. It’s also smaller than a normal popsicle deck so that might take some adjusting.

I used this as a campus cruiser. I have 7 longboards and this is the one I used the most. That being said, it is not my favorite to ride of all my boards. I like that it is small enough to be portable and maneuverable in the crowds of a college campus but big enough to comfortably hold my size 13 feet.

It is not the most responsive board ever but it works. After a year of using it has become very squeaky is annoying but tolerable. The base wheels are nice but I opted to replace them with shark wheels for added speed and a smoother ride.

The bottle opener on the bottom of the board is a fun touch. All in all pretty good board for a college student, especially one who is new to long-boarding. Its not the most fun to ride board but very practical for commuting and price effective.

I love this board. It’s a great cruiser that provides a comfortable ride without compromising on functionality. I can’t stand having a flat board with no kick tail so this is great lol. I also do like the kinda classic look of it.

Wow! This board is perfect for me and what I need it for. I ride it almost everyday, everywhere I go. Not only is it good for cruising but amazing for beginners to learn how to ride! I am extremely happy with my purchase of this board and will definitely be on the look for new items to buy from NHS.

Really nice board. Very responsive and gains/holds speed really good, nice for maneuvering in crowded areas. My max speed out of the box on downhill without wobbling was around 35-40 km/h around 20 mph.

(Beginner rider) For my first board, it was a good price and was a basic design. After a good first day of riding, I adjusted the trucks for tighter turning ability. While going threw a normal ride(smooth road with no bumps) the board made a loud pop.

A while later when I stepped onto the board for a ride the board snapped in the middle of the deck. It was fun while it was a fine board, but the snap ruined the fun for me. I won’t be buying another cruiser board for while.

I used to have a penny board long ago when I was like 16-17 almost 10 years ago, and it was a lot of fun ended up giving it to my best friends little brother years ago but the price point made me sick to my stomach lol I could never spend that kind of money on a board these days, but I found these retrospec boards after looking around online and the price was unbeatable for anything else on the market so I went with it, just got it today.

Only took like 4 maybe 5 days to get to me. The board looks flawless, rides really well and turns great. I rode it around for a few hours before writing this review and have 0 issues so far. I do wish you had the other color in stock that i wanted but no biggy, can’t go wrong with black on black.

I am 6’1 190 lbs and it holds me without issues. I think I do need one of those little tools tho to maybe tighten the trucks slightly – not that it needs it but since I am pretty heavy I think it could be a little more firm for my liking.

I got this Skateboard for my son as a treat for doing great at school. It was right choice for him because he always wanted a good skateboard and I got him a couple before but they were not as good! This one is really great, it’s heavy on the road which gives him more stability and make it easier for him to control it.

He’s loving it now and he takes it every where he goes.

My kids absolutely love their new skateboards! The wheels are wide which makes it easier to ride on not so smooth pavement. This is a very strong and sturdy skateboard.

It’s a penny board, nothing more nothing less. It’s great for the price. Bearings are what make the wheels spin and they are definitely better than what I expected from something sold at Walmart. I got this for my 3 year old so he can practice balancing and moving on something his size and he loves it.

This board isn’t for adults or skaters. It’s definitely a beginner board to be used by children. Will probably last forever if used as that.

I like this board because it’s all colorful and high quality. I have bought two of these and I’m very happy with both purchases.

I was looking for a cruiser or something like a nickel board when I came across this cruiser. I was at a shop in California and one of the employees pointed it out. I didn’t have the money to spend at the time but I knew I needed it.

I finally saved enough and I am soooo happy with this purchase. Whether you are carving or cruising or even power sliding, this board does it all. We all know Globe is a solid brand and they held up to their name.

They way they designed the trucks on this board is a game changer, there are more and more companies making similar trucks. I often find myself throwing some earbuds in and going for rides regularly because of how fun this cruiser really is.

Definitely recommend this board for anyone who loves buttery tight turns.

it\’s a good skate to start, I really like the board and its shape that make it stable and very reactive underfoot. the truck revenge make it very stable but do not have a good pumping in the plain. I honestly don\’t know if it is due to the abec -7 bearings (I would have preferred the abec -9) or by the wheels that I think are slightly small in diameter (I would have preferred a 75 mm).

Overall it\’s a good skate.

My daughter loves this skateboard! It’s the perfect size for riding on our driveway or in our neighborhood. For reference she’s 60lbs, 54″ and ten years old.

Great cruiser board in my opinion. Getting back into it after 40 year’s of absence. Working out the kinks/setting of the trucks seems easy enough. Wheels are average. I’m taller/heavier (over 6’0″). Should’ve gone with the next 1 or 2 lengths up.

Rides well. Great starter board for anyone.

I bought this item for my daughters birthday present. She has been playing with it ever since. It is well made, study and nicely decorated.

I bought a custom 22 inch board off here a few years ago. Absolutely loved it ever since. I use it to get to, around and back from Uni. I regularly cruise up to 20km on it and it’s stood the test of time with minimal maintainance.

Obviously it’s not designed for tricks, I struggle to even kickflip it. But it will happily Ollie up a curb and turns tighter than anything else I’ve ever ridden. It’s also tremendously steady at speeds for such a small board.

This board was sooooo hawt looking that some foo stole it while my back was turned. Never turn your back on this board. Some punk will rob you blind. I almost gave this board a bad review just because I wonder if it’s too good looking.

Maybe someday I’ll recycle enough cans to replace the board that was taken from me. Until that day though, my butt is walking to the recycling center. Life is cruel.

I needed a cost effective solution to a mobility restriction: Much of my commute to work involved walking over smooth ground. Realizing that walking time could be reduced significantly using a wheeled vehicle, I decided to pursue either a skateboard or a bicycle.

Not wanting to yield to the variable liabilities and high risks associated with utilizing a bicycle, I decided to pursue the economical and portable Penny board (22inch model). Without having prior experience with skateboard mobility whatsoever, there was a period of training in a safe and sane area without interference of motor vehicles or pedestrians in order to acclimate myself to basic skills.

Before long, I was able to functionally move, advance, stop, and apply simple course-adjustments. Since the initial investment, I have reaped considerable returns that have reached far beyond the time saving objective.

I intend on making the Penny board a new part of my general mobility experience, taking it beyond the work commute. On a related note, I will begin protesting the continued maintenance of the sidewalks, roads, and paths to be free of debris, pot holes, and general depreciation.

I purchased this from my local skate shop because I wanted to do more skating away from the skate park but I don’t enjoy road feel. I had gone in intending to buy a longboard, but when I saw this deck I realized that while I’m sure I’d get used to a longboard eventually, I was for awhile at least going to be looking for the tail when placing my foot.

So this was a great option for me. I was able to ride it comfortably immediately, and loved having the tail not just for placement but to be able to turn and lift over larger obstacles and when going off of curbs.

While I’ve only had it for a day, I love it!.

This product is amazing for beginners. I love how easy it is to turn and it’s really good to use for getting used to the mechanics of skateboarding for beginners! As a beginner skater, it didn’t take long for me to get used to it and I also primarily use it to get around my campus which this just so happens to be great at doing! The amazing design is just icing on the cake! Highly recommend!.

The board arrived quickly. Just in time for Christmas. My husband left his last cruzer on the train coming from work so he was super excited to have a replacement. This board is a smooth ride, easy enough for a beginner to hop on.

I was very disappointed. The wheels weren’t even screwed on straight and aligned. My husband had to adjust them before my son could use his new board. After my husband fixed it, my son has been very pleased with it.

Surprisingly good skateboard for the price. My daughter just started learning and it was nice to see that the quality is not far from much pricer boards. Solid wood, stable. Another reviewer suggested getting new bearings and we did.

$7 and now the board is super smooth and more stable. She’s on this board multiple times a day and loving it.

Received in less time than stated in shipping notifications, appears to be a well made pump. Have not been able to install, due to motor being wired with a type F plug, which is useless in the United States.

Cost was acceptable, but now having to purchase an adapter for additional money makes this unit less of a bargain. Once an adapter for power cord arrives, I’ll leave additional product review upon actual use of pump.

I love the stiffness of the board, and the slight concave it has to lock your feet into. The trucks are nice and turny/carvey. Rides like a dream! And the design is beautiful in person! This board is my new go-to for cruising, and you can even do some light downhill and slides with it.

I purchased this longboard for my daughter. It’s her first longboard and I’m sad to say that it is a disappointed first longboard. The wheels were not leveled and it is not a smooth cruiser. Feels more like your standard skateboard.

This is why I usually stay away from purchasing online without trying out first.
