20 Best Cpu For Rtx 2080 (2023 Updated)

I’m not one that races out to type a CPU review. There is already plenty of information, benchmarks, etc. on the web detailing the performance of this chip and/or chips that are similar. Ultimately, I’m hoping to present a little clarification regarding what one may expect to receive when purchasing this item.

So, if the headline of this review has caught your attention it may have been because you noticed the product description states that it “doesn’t” come with a thermal solution (AKA: heat-sink/fan). However, like some other reviewers/commenters have stated, “it does”! (or at least mine did).

The item I received was in retail form and included the stock heat-sink and fan (case badge and all). I’ve come across similar dependencies on other retail sites claiming the same thing. Sad to state, purchasing this item felt like more of a gamble if anything.

Does that guarantee the one you purchase will include one. Don’t know! But it may minimize the reluctance to purchase it seeing that myself, including others, have had the same experience and can confirm that the item received was indeed a retail variant.

All in all, if it comes down to it, it is a relativity inexpensive chip. Even though potentially receiving one without a thermal solution may not be all that desirable, many aftermarket solutions can be found on the web and are rather cost effective when dealing with a chip of this type.

So, the $10 or less region may not be out of line for an adequate thermal solution. Just think of your possible usage scenarios and buy accordingly (if it would even come to that). I bought this knowing it may not have come with a cooler, so I can’t state I would’ve felt burned getting one without one.

I purchased 3 of these for some budget systems with the idea of both using the dual core and its integrated chip for casual gaming. Keep in mind these are for 3 systems for my own children so they don’t need 60+fps at 4k, they are gonna have to earn that later in life.

Can play HotS (medium settings for looks and fps~40 // Low gets you 60fps), Plays 2D games no problem (terraria, fallout, starbound, PvZ, Diablo 2), games like LoL, Overwatch, TF2, Diablo 3, Hearthstone, all play ~40fps on medium settings like HotS.

What makes it a great CPU along with the 4560 or 4620 is if you pair these with anything upwards of a Geforce 450 the performance goes way up on any and all games. Example 450 GTS lets these CPU’s (4560-4600-4620 I have all 3) play the above mentioned games on pretty much high settings.

(all at 720p or 1080p with above 40fps in either case). If you were to pair these with a 1050 and given its cheap price , games like Fallout 4, Battlefield 1, and DOOM all become playable at an extreme budget level cost.

System wise, Windows 10 plays very nice with the CPU. Super fast and snappy, web browsing is of course fast, the MAJOR downside you will see with these CPU’s is due to it being dual core it will not have the multitasking like a 4/6/8 core CPU can get you.

To be honest though, I have seen one of my children in particular have HotS, PvZ, and terraria all going at once and just tabbing between them when he wanted to play them, no issues what so ever all things considering.

Really fast for a dual core — probably the fastest ever built. Definitely worth the extra money over the Celeron. The Celeron only has 2 threads, but this Pentium is hyperthreaded so it has 4 threads.

A great little CPU that gives you a good upgrade path for the future.

This processor is an upgrade over the slower Intel Pentium dual core e4600 that this cpu replaces is a huge difference. Everything is much faster now and everything works very well. The temps are just a little bit higher than normal but I can deal with that.

I did expect that too. Installing it is quite easy and the motherboard was easily compattable with it with no problem even with it being an old 2007 HP home desktop pc for basic tasks. The use I have the computer doing is running a minecraft server with about 30 plugins an an average of 7 to 10 or more players per day.

The pentium could not keep up when intensive things on the server began to occur. This processor can handle them easily and prevent the server from lagging too often. But now the only thing lagging the server is the amount of RAM the PC has.

But a few small changes and it will be perfect. And because this processor was so cheap in price, I was able to easily buy it and swap it in for an extra noticeable performance boost. Quite a good CPU for now.

Hopefully it will last! I think it will last a long time so far.

Intel E6750 cpu, for the price of under 7 dollars is just what the doctor ordered. This cpu and 2 others just like it are being used in Qty 3, HP IPIBL-LB motherboards for the computer systems that I have rebuilt.

Next to the Intel E8400, E8500 or E8600 the E6750 is the next best cpu for the money. The E6750 is a 65 watt CPU requiring the cheapest Intel cooling heat sinks. I have noticed that this cpu might be used in some Apple computers also, I almost think that is why Intel made this off the wall chip.

HP does not list the E6750 as a cpu that can be used in the IPIBL-LB motherboard, it stops short at the E6700. I bought one chip for $6. 49 just to see if would work, it worked great, so I bought 2 more each for $6.

75 shipping included on eBay. These cpu”s are not being used for gaming, so I do not know how good they are for gamers, but to run Email, Facebook, and OpenOffice it is lightening fast, gamers are well beyond this 2 core chip anyway.

I have a very large OpenOffice spread sheet that takes 14 seconds to fully open using a E8400 cpu running at 3. 00g, the E6750 running at 2. 66g takes 16 seconds. A little slower but for the price I am not complaining.

I have a Gateway computer running an Intel G630 which runs this spreadsheet in 12 seconds. As you can tell I am not one that is in the fore front of technology, to waste money like that on the newest thing is not me, but to get the most for my money is, that is why the E6750 is worth every cent for a used cpu at this time.

Had an old Compaq system with E6300 chip mainly used for email and surfing internet, which was getting slow. Cleaned out the internal rubbish and it worked so so. Found this chip on ebay and at price if it did not work nothing lost.

On arrival put it into motherboard and although just a difference of 800 Mhz or so between the original chip and this one, the machine is noticeably quicker. Maybe the extra onboard cache also helps.

Pleasantly surprised and given an old pc a wee bit of extra life. It was probably just as well it worked as I dont think the original cpu will work as after I took it out, I knocked it off the edge of the worktable onto the floor ha ha!.

So, what do you do when you have a bunch of aging motherboards with 2006-era CPU’s in them? Upgrade, of course! If you chipset supports the Intel ‘Wolfdale’ 45-nanometer process CPU’s, the best choice is the E8XXX series.

For the perforamance and the $20-ish buy-it-now prices on eBay, it hardly makes sense to upgrade to a new motherboard/memory/CPU just to get a Celeron or “Pentium” in the Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge family.

Now, some will say, what about the Quad-Core ‘Q’ series? I say, for the heat and power consumption you’ll add to your rig, then you *should* upgrade to newer stuff. But if your goal is to extend life of an aging computer, E8400-E8600 can’t be beat.

I have 2 computers used to stream Netflix and a 1080i digital cable signal through an HDHomerun box (look it up, it’s neat!). The old Core2Duo’s like the E6xxx series just choke on the 1080i digital signal.

The E8400 is like glass. On the heat and power consumption, I literally could dial back the CPU fan to a whisper at the lowest settable RPM. I tried an the Pentium E6300 @ 2. 8 (not the C2D e6300 @ 1.

86 GHz – different CPU’s), and even though it had the clock speed, it would crash with an aggressive high-RPM CPU fan speed. That’s the beauty of the 45nm process with the monster 6GB of L2 cache. Stuff gets executed quickly, then the CPU quiets right back down.

The design of the Core 2 Duo series of CPU’s was derived from the original Pentium M – a notebook processor. That means they were designed to operate efficiently, not just fast. So more information is processed per GHz, especially compared to the Pentium 4 “Netburst” architecture.

I also have some mid-level gaming rigs in a LAN setup, one with an nVidia 550ti, and another with a Radeon 6850. Playability was compromised with the original C2D stuff. when I put in the E8400’s, playability immediately went up enough to get the most out of the gaming cards.

People don’t realize that a high-end gaming card with a budget computer compromises the performance of the gaming card. You need a decent CPU to support good playability from the cards. Again, I could upgrade for $$$ to Nehalem, Sandy, or Ivy Bridge, but with the E8400’s, I can more than meet the minimum/recommended computer spec’s on Steam and other services.

Just leaving the expense of decent gaming cards. So, yeah, new stuff keeps coming out, and will continue to come out. Due to Intel keeping the same socket for so long, and smart manufacturers like ASUS, Biostar, Foxconn, and others allowing their motherboard products to work with some of the last-released 775 CPU’s, the E8000 series really allow people to do a pretty decent performance upgrades without buying all-new stuff.

I upgraded from an E5400 Pentium Dual Core to this E8500 Core 2 Duo on my second old desktop pc built on an Asus P5QL SE m/b from 2009 which was left aside for a couple of years and the performance results absolutely exceeded my expectations.

I needed an inexpensive upgrade for this pc for every day use (no OC and no gaming) and this used CPU was a cheap and easy, yet amazing improvement. We’ve been using it on a 10 h daily basis for about one and a half month now with no problems at all.

I’m so impressed from its speed compared to the previous CPU (almost double) that decided to take the upgrade a little further and install an SSD for the OS. I’m really glad I did this instead of moving to another newer processor version (i series) which requires a substantial upgrade cost in m/b, ram, etc.

So if you have an old pc with LGA 775 m/b, want to keep your gear and be able to work faster, buy one of these. You will not regret it!.

Like another reviewer, I’ve pretty much always used Netgear wireless routers, replacing them every 2-3 years as technology changed and/or the router became flaky. Finding such a hi-spec router at this low cost tempted me to try the Linksys.

Having set it up, the network was super-fast and I bought a couple of AC standard USB adapters to speed up my older laptop and PC to take full advantage. However, in less than a month the 5GHz network disappeared from all my devices and couldn’t be revived.

The 2. 4GHz network remained but was only a tenth the speed of the 5GHz. It seems this is a common problem with these routers. You had one shot Linksys and you blew it!.

This is a solid processor. I loaded it into a ASUS P6T6 Work Station Revolution mobo w/12 gigs (6X2G) of corsair DDR3, a 1000W Cooler master PSU, and 6 320G WD Blacks in RAID5. I have an outdated 200 series GPU, but not for long.

It booted up and runs great. The ASUS board hasn’t missed a beat. You gotta pay attention to the RAID controller, on the way in. Ctrl-M for Marvel & Ctrl-I for Intel. Anyways the core is running in a Coolermaster CM690 Advanced case with 6 X 140mm and 2 X 120mm fans.

I have never had a set up this nice. I was worried about the “mid tower”, but it’s more like a full tower case. I was also worried about fan noise, but you’d be amazed at how silent 6 140s run. In stock mode (3.

06G to 3. 33G) the CPU isn’t even hitting 100F with the stock cooler, from Intel! It’s sitting at 32C-36C in all 4 cores after a day of running. I am letting it all burn in for anouther 24 hours before I really run it hard.

I’m impressed. I like seeing the 8 threads of 3+GHz and you toss the 6 drives in raid at it and I have the speed of an SSD with out the limited writes/reads for the same cost. I am mouting the CPU under the stairs, between my living room and my office.

HDMI will run further than the 20′ I need to have my TV set up as a primary or secondary monitor. Then, I’ll run two or three 23″ in the office for WORK and a couple games. 🙂 a Powered USB hub w/extension and a USB DVD drive for those little occations, will keep me from having to go into the closet.

Windows Media Center, on this thing, ROCKS. It’s a whole new lease on life for Media Center. I’ll be able to feed BlueRay and 3D movies to my TV and run the glasses, with my existing TV! All in all, the combo of a i7 950, the ASUS P6T6, Coolermaster, Corsair, and WD RAID5 is going to satisfy my needs for years to come!!! I’ll GROW my raid with 2TB drives and use the 320’s as backup drives for my kids towers.

I have had a DUAL Core 2. 6G in almost the same config. This setup makes that look like childs play. Good luck to you! BUY the parts! Built it! For the money, I would have spent $5,000-$7,000 for a prebuilt system.

This thing practically built it self. Plug and play. Windows7. Instructions written on everything for idiots. My kid could have put this together and I have less than 1600. 00 into it and less than a day putting it together!.

I thought my processor had failed so I bid on this one. When I received it, I put it in and no difference. Turned out my Corsair 650W had failed after 6 years. I got my system to boot with the original processor after I replaced my power supply with a working one.

I then temporary replaced my processor with this purchased one and ran the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool 64bit on the CPU. It passed all test so then I put my original processor back in, Since I do not need this replacement processor, I will relist it on ebay.

Testing this processor myself made me confident in my purchase and future resale of this i7 950 3. 06G.

I read a lot of people complaining about how bad the Heatsink fan is, it’s not great, but it’s adequate. One needs to seat the fan right with a good thermal paste(go out to your local electronic shop and buy some artic silver or something) is one thing.

The other issue is that motherboards tend to overvolt the vcore in auto mode. If you are buying an i7 you are probably going to overclock it sometime, so I’m sure you know how to set the vcore and test stability.

Make sure with the stock heat sink and fan that you manually set the vcore to as low as it go while still being stable(range is. 8->1. 375). Mine in particular was stable around 1. 05V with stock clock.

I would not overclock with the stock cooler. My core temps went from ~85 C to 65 C at full load(we’re talking burn test at 22 C ambient) just by changing the VCore down to it’s lowest stable setting.

I still feel it’s kind of high, but it’s well within a threshold intel feels is fine.

Here’s a summary of my experience with this Processor. To be fair it ran great for the time I used it until it just decided to quit. I went to restart my PC after an uptime of several weeks for a fresh OS boot and upon restart I received a post code 66 referencing slow CPU initialization.

So I ran through the normal test steps, CMOS reset, BIOS Switch/Update, 1 stick of RAM, different RAM, different PSU, different GPU, unplug all peripherals, and nothing seemed to make any difference.

After speaking with MSI about an RMA they deduced my MSI x99s Gaming-7 MoBo was bad so I RMA’d it. Knowing it would take a long time to receive a replacement I went ahead and ordered a new EVGA MoBo only to find it hitting the same POST code 66.

I called into Intel to hear them recommend my Proc for RMA as well. Upon further investigation I found other i7-5820k owners having the same experience with this Proc. Keep in mind this issue doesn’t appear to be rampant but it’s not all too uncommon for this kind of thing to happen.

I also never overclocked my CPU. Even with normal workload this processor made easy work of anything I ever threw at it. Now I’ve never had an issue with an Intel Proc and I’ve been running all Intel since the Core 2 Duo and my understanding from most reports online was that the Intel RMA experience was above average.

However when I shipped my Proc on a Friday with priority to get it there on Monday morning so they could process my RMA a little quicker I was very surprised for them to take 8 days to scan it in. They signed for it on the morning it was supposed to arrive but literally let it sit in their warehouse for 8 days.

When I called in for an update I was told it would take another 7-10 business days to get my replacement shipped out adding up to 13-15 total Business days to replace my faulty product. Luckily I was able to escalate my case with the warranty department to get one sent out next day but if it hadn’t been for my constant contact with their support line (5 separate communications within that 8 days simply looking for them to scan the box I sent) I would be setting and waiting for my replacement for well above their reported 8-10 business day RMA turnaround.

This has been a pretty disappointing experience all around. I expected better service from Intel and am surprised at the lack of urgency in processing their warranty returns. I’ve been having to borrow different PC’s from friends and take work laptops home to do freelance work for my clients which has led to several workable but annoying issues.

I will always understand issues with parts that go bad or even troubles processing/testing an RMA’d product but to have it in your possession and let it sit there for 8 full days without even beginning the RMA process is inexcusable.

I’d buy another Intel product again simply because I know they are the best in the business in terms of Processor performance, however I hope my review might give some who have to RMA a more realistic expectation for both timelines for your RMA and the amount of communication necessary to ensure you get updates.

This to me is the best processor out there if you looking for a Great CPU for video editing and a cpu that can multitask and just do everything. I can play 2 games at a single time and still be able to have other tabs up, download anything I need, I can listen to music, watch videos just anything without noticing any delay.

I got mine for 360 here on newegg that they were having a deal on Black Friday sales week and wow was it was worth it. I picked this one because at the time between this and the other i7 it was the no brainier.

I was getting 6 cores/12 threads with 15mb of L3 cache gave me access to not only play games but do video editing and anything i may need that needs a good CPU. Non of the other i7’s offer that and while they are supposed to be better for gaming i was not going to pay 330 and more for and i7 and feel like i just had a slightly better i5.

If you want a true i7 that can do anything you want on the CPU side video recording,video editing play games and more this is the way to go. The i7 5820k also requires a x99 motherboard and DDR4 ram which prices for both have gone down and you can find really good deals on both motherboards and ram.

I went from an AMD FX6350 to a i5 4690k and man felt so much faster and smoother but when my wife asked for me to build her a pc i gave her my old rig and decided to build a PC that could do anything i needed.

So picked this up with an MSI GAming 7 X99 motherboard and DDR4 G. Skill Ram and switched my 970 to a 980ti Both cards being Zotac Amp Extreme which are such an amazing cards. If your looking for a good CPU and your looking For a i7 I promise you this will not let you down handles anything with ease.

Remember not just in PC but in everything in life you get what you pay for. If you want a solid CPU straight for gaming and that is it i recommend the i5 6600k You get the newest motherboard and access to DDR4 ram which soon to become the norm.

Now if you want a CPU that can game and more this is it the i7 6700k skylake is a newer version of the i7 4790k. The i7 6700k gives you access to DDR4 ram and is newer but honestly IMO are not worth it.

This CPU when you see the specs offers a lot more than those 2 and is cheaper than the i7 6700k CPU. IF you want a good CPU for more than gaming get this and i promise you you will not be disappointed.
