20 Best Cpu Cooler For 12900K (2023 Updated)

Noctua quality in black which includes LGA 1700 support out of the box. No need to order extra brackets and no waiting to build your Alder Lake rig. Installation is very straightforward and although it is expensive Noctua quality and performance is worth the investment.

I have this paired with the i7 12700k at stock settings on an Asus Tuf z690 D4 board. Gaming temps are in the mid 50s C and hold 4800-4900 clocks when multiple threads are used. Running Cinebench pushes temps into the mid 70s and low 80s and considering the max is 100C on these chips there is plenty of headroom there.

Any decent case with some airflow should have no issues with this cooler and any AM4 CPU as well as any i5 or i7. I was concerned about temps with Alder Lake but under realistic loads that most everyone uses, especially gaming, this cooler is plenty.

I highly recommend giving this one a shot.

I purchased this cooler for my Intel 10400F CPU to upgrade to the stock cooler. There is a significant improvement in cooling performance. Up to low loads, the stock cooler maintained the CPU temp around 40-45°C; this Noctua maintains the CPU temp at around 30-35°C.

At moderate loads, the stock cooler operated up to ~60°C; this cooler maintains the CPU in the forties (°C), heading into the low fifties at worst. The additional cooling also means the case fans run at lower RPMs, so the demand on them is significantly reduced.

The cooler footprint isn’t large so combability is good (eg tall RAM still fits, etc). Plenty of parts are included to for compatibility with several types of Intel and AMD sockets. Highly recommended for entry and mid-range CPU cooling upgrades for a decent price.

This cooler is by far the best air cooler money can buy. I don’t have much experience with building computers, but the installation was seamless and easy with the instructions provided by Noctua. The air cooler comes with LGA 115x, the new 1700 socket for the Alder Lake CPU’s and AM4.

The thermal paste provided by Noctua is also top quality. Under load, the highest temperatures I’ve seen were around 75C, idle around 35-40C. Extremely comparable to any liquid cooling/AIO on the market currently.

The fan on the cooler is super quiet, I don’t here a thing when playing games. Overall, extremely satisfied with the purchase.

Didn’t see any reviews for this yet, so I wanted to leave one. For those wondering, this is the new version of the Hyper 212 that includes the LGA 1700 mounting bracket and backplate as well as the updated fan.

The product name here makes it seem like it is just a fan, but it is actually the most recent version of the Hyper 212. Hopefully this clears up the confusion. Installation is even easier than the older Hyper 212’s.

I was impressed with the simplicity of mounting it to my 1700 socket motherboard. I bought this as a temporary solution while I wait for an AK620 to arrive in the mail. Honestly though, this fan is quite nice and performs better than I expected.

(Using a 12600K for reference) Fit and finish is also better than expected in this price point. Noise levels are good. I cant hear it over my case fans in my Fractal Torrent. No RAM clearance issues as it doesn’t obstruct any of the DIMM slots.

Overall this is a very solid product that I would recommend.

My old PC used the non RGB model, so when deciding on a cooler for my partner’s new build this cooler was at the top of my list! The added RGB option really made this even more attractive as it would be a good addition to the case and RGB RAM we had already picked up for her machine.

Set up was straight forward and there are plenty of third-party guides to assist you with putting this together and getting your machine all set up! Only issue was the RGB setting were a little limited and it was near impossible to get it to directly line up with the cases other RGB settings, however this was likely due to the two choices coming from different brands.

In the end this issue actually created a happy accident as we ended up with a nice accent colour to contrast against the purple hues of the rest of the set up!.

My AIO pump went out and needed something to replace it that day or I was going to be out a pc for awhile. Easy install, instructions could be a little bit more in depth. But other than that it’s been great! Was going to order another aio, but with how this has been performing there is no need in it.

I7-10700k oc to 4. 8 from bios. Underload cpu stay between 60-65c. And I run the included fan at max at all times just personal preference. If you need something cheap but performs above expectations.

This is the thing you need.

On thing that annoys me when I hear the criticism of Noctua coolers is that they are expensive. In my opinion this criticism is unfair considering what you get with the cooler: 1) An incredibly easy mounting system for AMD and Intel, plus you can get a free AM4 mounting kit for Ryzen from Noctua.

2) An extra long Phillips screwdriver which is not just useful for installing the cooler but also for building the rest of your system. 3) A syringe of excellent Noctua NT-H1Thermal Paste which is consistently near the top of any reviews of thermal paste – look for yourself.

This saves you about 6 compared to other coolers where you have to buy the paste separate because what is supplied is poor quality. 4) A nigh on silent fan which will remain silent for many years. (unlike other fans which start to shake, rattle and roll after about a year or so.

5) The fan supplied with the cooler is a PWM fan. This means you can set up a profile for your motherboard to only have the fan spin as fast as needed, or even turned off if you are only doing things like browsing the Internet.

6) A 4-pin Low Noise Adapter which will allow you to slow down the fan whilst still allowing for variable fan speed. For other coolers you would have to fork out another 4 for something like this. 7) Mounts are supplied so that you can add another 92mm fan to the other side in a push-pull configuration and the second fan will not interfere with any RAM.

8) Go look at reviews and you will find that this cooler outperforms other coolers which are a lot larger – numbers don’t lie – and give you no end of hassle with RAM clearance etc. I don’t work for Noctua but I have been buying their fans and coolers for about 10 years now, and I have yet to have one of the fans become loud or fail on me – so I am a fan-boy if you like 😀 It’s not so much that you should have a reason for buying one of these coolers, it’s that you should have a reason for NOT buying one.

Nice and small for ITX builds, put mine in a Thermaltake V1 case fits easily, dead easy to install and well made. Installed mine on top of a Ryzen 5 temps at idle 45 to 50 which is a lot higher than i expected, however max temp is 74 which is very good for the size.

Only gave 4 stars as expecting slightly better idle temps. I have checked installation and it is all tight and fine, used the supplied Noctua paste. I am going to replace the 200mm front with a Noctua and add a couple of noctua 80mm rear fans to see if this makes a difference.

It is quite pricey given the competition however Noctua is quality and sometimes quality costs.

Would not buy again. The AM4 socket mounting solution was either poorly explained, poorly designed, furnished with the wrong parts, or perhaps even all three. What makes me most angry is that I’ll probably never know because the instructions for this thing are so utterly garbage.

I cannot emphasize that enough. See below. When I went to assemble this thing, I first tried reading the instruction manual which again due to it being pictures only and interleaving all the sequences into one was convoluted and difficult to follow.

So you’re supposed to remove your motherboard’s stock backing plate and use a custom backing plate provided which can support multiple different screw patterns. Okay fine except the snaps you use to secure the screws in place are extremely stiff.

I thought I was going to break them. That was just the start of the problems though. Next, the backing plate screws are way smaller in diameter than the holes on the motherboard so the backing plate can float and rotate.

Uh, okay that doesn’t seem right. Now that could be the motherboard’s fault but what’s not the motherboard’s fault is that the screws are shoulder screws and they aren’t threaded far enough to allow the socket-side standoffs to fully tighten against the motherboard.

So then when you put the mounting brackets on, they just sort of. wobble all over the place and I guess you can try to tighten the CPU cooler on top of that. I expect the threads would bind though. And moreover, the last-gen version of this same cooler I have in another machine had standoffs which firmly tightened against the motherboard.

That would lead me to think this one works the same way. But I can’t really know because again, the instruction manual didn’t articulate what to expect. Were the brackets supposed to be loose? Were they NOT supposed to be lose? Who knows!? Think about how much info something as simple as “cinch until finger tight against motherboard” conveys or “cinch until finger tight against shoulder screw”.

That’s all you needed to say. Then I could have known this is or is not design intent, or oh woops they sent me the wrong parts. I ended up completely hacking this thing together the way my brain expects it to work by using the standoffs for the Intel sockets as nuts on the back side of the motherboard and eschewing the backing plate entirely.

(I know, right?) That got my brackets to be solidly linked to the motherboard. Then I tightened the screws with the absurdly aggressive springs, worried I was going to crack the board or the CPU socket.

Or maybe they’re actually not that aggressive because you would have an extra 3mm when not tightening the brackets to the motherboard. Again I don’t know because the instruction manual didn’t explain anything!.

-Installed on an Intel i7-12700KF. Ran stress test and CPU temp leveled off at about 76°C (ambient temp 19°C). So decent cooling at least up to 190 W. Total noise from my case at this load is noticeable in a quiet environment, but completely drowned out when wearing headset or playing sound at even quiet volumes.

But to be honest I can’t tell how much is coming from the cooler or the six other fans in the case! -Installed, it doesn’t physically interfere with anything or block any slots on ASUS Prime Z690 D4 motherboard.

However, it can’t be installed or uninstalled if RAM is installed because you have to remove the fan to access the screws. Not really a negative, just something to note. -The package I received DID include LGA1700-compatible bracket, but it was NOT straightforward to figure this out.

Although the installation instructions are mostly the same, the manual and box haven’t been updated to mention “LGA1700” anywhere in the text. Had to search for images of the LGA1700 upgrade kit and do visual comparison, then test-fit to be sure.

Manual could use some extra information too, like that the bracket will sit loosely until the cooler is fully seated, and recommended tightness on screws. The spring-loaded screws on the cooler itself are long enough to damage capacitors on the board if you over-tighten, so be mindful!.

I would recommend this case to anyone who, like me, is putting together an ATX build they want to save a lot of space on. I used my old PC parts to make a smaller build for LAN parties, which is why I wanted a smaller case that still fit an ATX board because that is what I had.

This is a very reasonable case for being a portable build. There is no issue fitting any component inside and the cable management in the back is super roomy. No regrets buying this. That being said, the airflow is low.

The holes drilled in the case are restricted and the magnetic dust filters only add to that. I did not get any screws to mount additional fans in the case but I did use some of the small zip ties to attach a fan on top bringing cool air directly to my CPU cooler as the ATX size power supply blocks the air flow to that area.

But this worked out extremely well because I mounted the fan with holes that made the air flow more level with my CPU cooler. I fit my Hyper Evo 212 heatsink in easily and the top mounted fan pulled air in to keep is running between 29c to 33c at idle and around 37c to 40c under load.

My GPU is an old GTX 760 which does not currently have airflow directly to with a fan. The GPU does however have three fans and with the bottom of the case being vented as well it manages to stay within normal temperatures.

The one thing I hate most when building a computer is installing the CPU fan. I don’t know why, but I despise this step. Every single fan I’ve ever bought has always been a severe pain to install. This guy was incredibly easy to install, pretty much idiot proof, which I was impressed with since it had the extra step with the radiator (this is the first of this type that I’ve installed).

The pump comes with the paste already applied and the plating and that was just so easy to put in place, and then you simply place the pump over the CPU and screw it into place. It keeps things cool (as you would expect), and I’m so happy this technically takes up less room than the usual CPU fans I’ve installed.

I also love how it looks,, and the lights synch with my other Corsair RGB fans. The fan it comes with, though, is surprisingly loud. My other Corsair fans make little to no noise and this one sticks out, even when the RPM is low.

It also doesn’t light up. This is an insignificant issues, of course, but it does seem bizarre to have the pump light up and all that yet they don’t supply an RGB fan (and the retail price seems high without the RGB fan, thankfully I got this on sale).

If it wasn’t for the noise I probably wouldn’t be too concerned, but I will be replacing the fan with a quieter RGB one, just because.

I only bought this to replace my regular h60 because I wanted the RGB vomit. Go figure I now have to buy a new PSU that has 5-PIN SATA connectors or leave my old h60 unit in. The regular h60 unit works and lights up just fine with a 4-PIN SATA connector, it was completely asinine of corsair to make something like this that would require the use of something that LITERALLY nothing else uses and then NOT DISCLOSE IT! This will not light up if your SATA connectors only have 4 wires going into them.

Very disappointed, had I known this I would have skipped buying it altogether. Hopefully when I spend EVEN MORE money to get a new PSU, I will fall in love with it. But overall expect the same performance as the regular h60 model but with RGB puke if you have the right sata connectors.

Currently have i7 11700f. With stock fan cooler at auto settings cpu will “spike” between 90-100° while gaming, and only between 70-80° steadily. With this corsair AIO liquid cooler at auto settings the same cpu will “spike” between 50-55° while gaming, and only between 40-50° steadily.

Would definitely recommend this product!!!! Also shipping was very fast considering I ordered at 1am on Labor Day.

I’ve always used water cooling in the past, but tried this cooler after reading the reviews in my new build, and I’m very impressed. It maintains a low temp at high CPU loads, and is whisper quiet too.

Bought this CPU cooler when I was upgrading my rig from an i5 to an i7. Stock cooler had the same push pins as this cooler so thought it would be a straightforward swap. However I found that only 2 of the pins clipped in and held and the other 2 would click in but not to the board.

Meaning my cpu temp was off the chart. Have decided to get a bigger cooler with better mounting. Apart from that looks great, easy to install to some extent. Silent and great value.

Would have given it 5 stars but one problem was installing the pin set, since this in not the normal phillips screw setup. The fan works great and monitoring my temps I can see it’s doing a great job.

When things do heat up, it cools them down fast. Have a alien-ware X51 and the CPU fan sounded like a jet engine taking off, with this I don’t even know it’s there. Cheap CPU fan that work excellent once installed.

I needed a slightly better CPU cooler then stock Intel cooler, as my small case ITX build left the CPU running at 80oC under full load. Once new cooler installed temp improved to around 68oC at full load.

The Intel cooler was noisy at full throttle, this one makes very little noise under pressure, A good buy, not expensive.

I purchased this cooler along with a white chromax cover to work with a black – white build. It performs well beyond what my research indicated it might and looks great. Keeps an overclocked i7 8700K incredibly cool and does so quietly.

Ich wollte ne Luftkühlung da ich keinen Platz für eine AIO in meinem kleinen Gehäuse habe.

When it comes to cooling your CPU, you have several options, and the second you choose to look at water cooling you should instantly look to a corsair and this is for several reasons. Aesthetics – The RGB on the H100i/H150i is amazing.

The lights are evenly dispersed and graded so you cant see and individual lights and the gradient flow is very smooth. Corsair ICue can be a hassle but once you get the flow of it – it is AMAZING. I can have my Phillips hue lights in my office/game room and have all my lights matching in corsairs ICUE software which is to my knowledge exclusive.

Performance – Though not the triple rad, the 8700k has plenty of cap room for a reasonably aggressive overclocking without throttling. For reference – I use the H150i for my 5950x and it never goes over 65 degrees at 5ghz which is pretty impressive.

You can never hear the pump and as far as corsair support goes they will RMA anything with little to zero hassle which is always a win with good customer support. Price and Upgradeability – When it comes to price I am always shocked to see corsair cheaper than almost every other AIO on the market while performing better, the fans that come with it are also decent fans with good RGB as well! This AIO is also upgradable which is almost unheard of as you can upgrade the LED lights to a screen should you want to at a later time.

Conclusion – Regardless of whether you are looking for a 240 or a triple rad I would never consider another option other than corsair. After 15-20 PC builds you can tell quality when you see it and Corsair has never faulted me on quality, customer service, or performance.

I couldn’t recommend an AIO or a PC brand more than corsair.

As other reviewers say, the pump whine is ridiculous with this unit. I actually thought it was defective before searching for similar customer issues. I’ve always had Corsair liquid coolers, but this is by far the most annoying pump I’ve ever had.

It is constantly buzzing/whining even on the desktop, doing nothing. It’s louder than the 5 fans currently running in the case. No lie, this pump makes more noise than the AMD 6700XT reference card I’m currently using! That is saying something because AMD reference cards are known to be loud and hot.

I read that Corsair changed the pump manufacturer used for their AIO coolers, so if that’s the case, bad move by Corsair. I have 5 Corsair products total now, and this is the first purchase I’ve regretted.

It’s WAYYY too expensive to have a problem like this. Also, in some games like Destiny, just by having your camera facing different objects in-game, you can change the sound and whine of this CPU cooler haha.

Once again, with that happening, I thought the crazy noise was coming from the AMD GPU, until I opened the side panel and got down in the floor to listen. Nope, it’s this CPU pump. Sounds very similar to my dorm-size refrigerator running.

One more thing. When I reboot my computer, and sometimes when I’m shutting it down, the AIO fans ramp up to what sounds like full RPM speeds. It gets concerning loud. Enough to wake up someone in the same room sleeping.

With all that said, the h150i keeps the CPU very cool and the RGB is cool to use with my other Corsair products, but the noises this pump is causing kind of ruins everything else for me.

I ordered the 280mm version. TLDR; Solid AIO cooler lowered my 9900K temps by about ~10-15C I have a push pull configuration front case mounted, with a total of 4x Corsair ML RGB Fans attached to the Rad.

I also have it mounted on top of my delided i9 9900K. Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut in between the die and copper cold plate. Running my system on an Asus HERO X Maximus MB. in a Phanteks Eclipse P350X case.

Solid 5Ghz idle temps at the desktop screen are 38-40C. Vs the 55-60C on Air cooling. I Used to have the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi cooling my system. (Delid with Conductonaut as well) But I was getting tired of constantly seeing 90+C CPU temps when playing AAA games.

As a test. I would run the AIDA64 Extreme stress test and run it for a few seconds. And immediately notice the thermal throttle and would downclock from 5Ghz and the core temperature would reach 100C.

Spicy and toasty! I Ran the same tests, this time with the AIO cooler from Corsair. And I never saw thermal throttle and I ran it for a solid 5mins vs the previous 30 seconds. The clocks stayed at full speed 5Ghz and max temps hovered around 83-86C Mind you, these are ridiculous tests and you would probably only see these high temps if running [email protected], and not even when exporting video files after editing! So if you want higher clocks with a higher thermal capacity, then this AIO cooler is for you! That great debate over AIR vs Water cooling a CPU.

Well hands down, I am a true believer of water cooling now. Solid build quality as well as the RGB to make it look nice and pretty! CUE software has greatly improved over the years as well! For the Delid, you’ll have to put spacers behind the CPU mounting bracket, And I straight up just reused my Cryorig H7 CPU cooler mount with this Corsair AIO pump mount.

Since it was already there might as well. My delid kit was put together from RockitCool Intel 9th Gen Direct to Die Kit. For more info on delid, go on YU (YouTube University) and look up GamersNexus.

Very good cooler that looks like quite Intel stock like. But don’t be fooled by it. Idle temps are in the low 30°c and under 60° under load. Wanted another from Scorptec but didn’t have any, so purchased from UK.

Well packed, installs like a stock Intel cooler. A general tip when installing coolers for more or less all types: Attach two of pins/sticks cater-cornered and twist gently right/left etc like 10 times.

This will spread heat compound better on CPU. Very little twist you can manage/should do, be careful.

Regarding Temperatures: I use this with my stock i7 4790k Testing with Prime95 post v26. 6 (Any version newer than this will result in abnormally high “absolute worst case scenario” temperatures you will never see during real world use due to using an instruction set not meant for this kind of heavy lifting.

) Previously, with my Corsair H60 I would get temps topping out at 85c in post-v26. 6 Prime95 and 70c in pre-v26. 66 Prime95. With this product, the Coolermaster Hyper 212x Turbo, my max temps topped out at 72c in Post-v26.

6 Prime95 and a mere 59c in Pre-v26. 6 Prime95. Not only are the temperatures far better, but the fans never had the need to exceed 80% speed. I will be tweaking my fan curve to reduce noise as much as possible, however these tests were done with the same curve I was using with the old Corsair H60 for the sake of consistency.

Regarding the size: I use this on my main system with an i7 4790k in an ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty Killer Motherboard. This board has some particularly snug RAM sockets relative to the CPU socket, And I use Corsair Vengeance DDR3 DIMMs, further exacerbating the clearance issue.

Fan did not fit on front side of heatsink at first, peeled off rubber feet from the snap brackets and moved them a little bit so they served their purpose, but reduced width by about 1mm, which resulted in an absolutely perfect fit.

Regarding Instructions: I have no idea why people are complaining so much, I personally only needed the Instructions to know which standoffs and adjustments I needed to make for my CPU socket type. Everything else came naturally and instinctively If you just use common sense and take a second to look at what you’re working with.

But even so, It’s a 14 page long visual guide with every possible piece of information you would need for all socket types and then some. I can not reasonably fathom how it could be made any clearer.

Perhaps earlier reviews received an older deprecated guide and Coolermaster improved it in the one I received. In summary, this wonderful little $45USD beat my $60USD AIO watercooler by a significant margin in terms of temperatures with the added benefit of Air cooled redundancy.

The fans are rated for 160,000 hours (18 1/4 years!), and even IF one or both fail, the beefy heatsink can passively dissipate enough heat for you to safely realize something is wrong. Compare that to an AIO watercooler, whos pumps are rarely rated for more than 5 years on top of being well known to die suddenly and unexpectedly, which is a dangerous scenario because when the water is not flowing you might as well not even have a cooler as it can not transfer enough heat to be safe even at idle loads.

Get this Turbo version! it’s basically the EVO remastered, and it comes with a second/spare fan for only $5 more.

I’ll start with the cons because while it is annoying, it is temporary and can be worked around. The fan is tall. My case is the NZXT Source 210 S210-001 Mid Tower Computer Case, not a large computer case, but about average.

The Tower touches the side panel, though it does close. If you have a window, it will scratch it, but that’s not a concern in my case. Also, I wanted to mount the fan so that it blows air horizontally toward the rear exhaust vs vertically toward the upper exhaust.

Keep in mind I have a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3HP (rev. 1. 0) FM2+ AMD A88X (Bolton D4) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. If I mount it to blow upwards, the manifold will overlap with the DIMM slots. If I mount it blowing rearward, the screws are directly under the manifold, making it hard to get a screwdriver to them.

So I hand tightened them as much as I could and lightly bend an aluminum fin or two getting them tight. Beyond that, everything came together without a hitch. I do have to give it credit for clear instructions, a universal design, and coming with pretty much everything you would need to get it rolling.

Also, I did temperature tests to see how it performed. I used AIDA64 to stress test the APU, but their temperature monitor is off, so I used HWMonitor to watch the temps while it ran. The results are as follows: Stock Fan Idle Temp: 50* C Load Temp: 84* C Idle Temp: 47* C Load Temp: 65* C At idle, it doesn’t show any significant improvements, but it shines when under load.

This is good as I can either prolong the life of my CPU and motherboard or have room for overclocking, though it will probably be the former as I intend to use this as a media center. And this beast is quiet.

I have a FSP Group Hydro G Series HG750 750W Full Modular PSU and 6 Cooler Master Silent Case Fans running. I start the system and I have to turn everything off in my apartment and get reasonably close to the computer before I can discern any sound.

This is ideal for a media center.

WARNING I just bought (2) additional mounting kits from Ciooler Master USA. (for my three Hyper 212’s) The X-Brace has changed and the new picstructions reflect the change, BUT there is now a mistake in which standoffs to use for which brand of CPU.

It comes with 4 short standoffs (for AMD) and 4 taller standoffs. (for Intel) The new picstructions show using the taller standoffs (D) for both brands instead of the short standoffs (G) for AMD. The backplate nor it’s mounting hole height has changed.

It’s only a one letter mistake but it will cause you some grief if you use the wrong standoffs. I don’t know when the Hyper 212’s with the new install kits (picstructions are in the white install kit box w/212) will be out.

The last Hyper 212 I bought a month ago had the old style x-Brace and instructions.

When reading other reviews here, I see people running their CPUs well above the 68c limit recommended by AMD for *all* 1st and 2nd gen Threadripper. I’m running a first gen Threadripper 1900x. At full load I’m sitting rock steady at 69c.

(Not being cheeky with the temp. ) That’s one degree hotter than AMD specs. Either I am running a bit hot or the temp reading is off. For that alone, I take one egg away. Otherwise, I have two 1080’s with fans that far outpace my Noctua and therefore this fan “is” silent.

Tip: Read the installation instructions before installing. I did and it saved me from any hardship. Threadripper is not like any other CPU skt I’ve worked with. You’ve been warned. Edit: I bought a second fan for this cooler.

No change in temp doing a push/pull.

I installed this on a 2950X. My CPU temperatures at idle are around 65C. Make the CPU work hard and the temperature hits the throttling limit of 95C within seconds and the system event log fills with messages about the temperature exceeding the limit and then dropping back every second or so.

I put my finger on the heatsink and the top of the heatsink was barely warm while the CPU was at 95C. I know how to use thermal paste, so that isn’t the issue, but I did re-seat the heatsink twice with a thorough cleaning of everything in between just to be sure.

The first 2 times I used the included thermal paste, the last time I used Arctic Silver instead. The Arctic Silver did a slightly better job, but only dropped the temperature at idle by a few degrees.

Thermal design isn’t my area of expertise, but I tend to think the issue is that the heatpipes have far too much thermal resistance and the cooler needs more or bigger ones. There is certainly enough area in the fins and the fan is quite good (and if those were the problem the whole heatsink would get hot, but it doesn’t).

Water cooling next I think.

I installed an Asrock Taichi X399 motherboard with an AMD 2950 and 64 GB memory in an old case. I was concerned that the setup would be a tight fit, so I purchased this cooler, rather than the 14 inch version.

It was a very tight fit, requiring that i move the fans up from the base in order to clear the RAM chips. Once i booted the system it was obvious that I had a problem because the CPU temp at idle was excessive.

Running some test raised the temperature more. I looked at closed liquid cooling alternatives, None seemed much better in tests than the 14 inch Nactual cooler. (I have never played a computer game. The computer is primarily for scientific programming and phot processing of a very high res camera.

) I decided to try the NH-U14S with a second fan. I only did so after I CAREFULLY COMPARED its dimensions and those of the motherboard. Amazingly, it fits better because it is narrower and higher. Equally importantly, the new cooler works better, with idle CPU temps below 40 deg and operational temperatures no higher than the mid 50s.

Make sure you have a #2 phillips head screw driver that is on the long side so as not to interfere with the fins during installation. I had 1 of the mounting screws cross-thread during installation and another tried.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the cooler does not cover the entire CPU IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader), but it does a better job cooling than the stock cooler. I installed this cooler on an i5 7500.

During a 30 minute AIDA64 CPU/Memory stress test, the highest CPU core temperature spike I saw was 52c (with an ambient temperature of 24. 9c) and the fan was inaudible. I bought this cooler because it was in-stock as my normal go-to hyperactive rifle cooler was out of stock.

I should have no problem doing the job for the system it went in but it’s not my first choice.

This is a really good CPU cooler. I have a 2400G overclocked to 4Ghz and whilst idle the fan actually stops spinning. But even under load using a stress test like Prime95 It never really gets too loud and for a 92 mm fan that’s pretty impressive.

This is a decent fan but be aware that the bottom mount may not fit all computer cases i had to slightly push in the side of my Antec 300 case just to make room for the bottom mount. Also make sure you have extra screws laying around your house because mine was missing some other than that the fan is easy to mount and keeps my pc cool.

Nice entry level cooler, gave me a drop of about 6 degrees , compered to stock cooler Runs nice , very low noise levels (almost silent) when running at full load.

TranslateShow in original languageDer Lüfter ist noch nicht ganz ein Jahr alt und ist mittlerweile extrem laut. Ich habe tatsächlich relativ viel an Mainboards und dem Prozessor rumgespielt aber hätte nicht gedacht, dass das den Lüfter beeinflussen könnte.

Bis vor kurzem war der Lüfter allerdings ganz gut und vor allem auch leise. Mein Setting besteht aus einem Asus B550-f und einem Ryzen 5 3600. Die Lüftersteuerung habe ich auf leise eingestellt aber das ist dem Lüfter derzeit egal und auch wenn man manuell an der Lüfterkurve dreht hilft es nicht.

Eine Säuberung und mechanische Überprüfung hat leider auch nicht geholfen. Es ist sehr nervtötend weshalb ich in Zukunft vermutlich einen Bogen um Lüfter des Herstellers machen werde.
