Best Courses For Learning Spanish (2025 Updated)

I have only been using this for 3 days, but I am already able to speak and understand some Spanish like I never imagined that I could. The program is scientifically based on memory function and recall intervals.

You are taught a word or phrase, and then asked to recall it periodically. If you want to learn, and are excited to listen and learn, then this is for you. If you are lazy and you don’t want to put in the time to listen to the 30 minute lessons, then save your money, you can’t learn if you don’t participate in repeating the phrases or if you never take it out of the box.

I paid less than $25 for mine, and feel like I already know more Spanish than my daughter learned in two years of it in high school. Babies don’t learn English by writing words and phrases on note-cards and being quizzed, they learn it from hearing and repeating it.

That’s how easy this is. After you start repeating back, your confidence builds and encourages you to learn even more. It’s easier than I thought it would be after watching my kids struggle with the subject in school and come away with the same words they knew going in.

A while back I decided I wanted to learn a little bit of Spanish, and I do not have the time to take a formal course. Having heard about the “Pimsleur approach”, I thought this would be worth a try. I am in the process of going through this course right now and I have to say, “This works”.

It takes some effort on your part, it takes some concentration and some dedication but it does work! You are called upon to speak the words yourself, both to practice pronunciation and to train your ear to the sounds of the Spanish language and it is advisable to do this.

In the first session, you start out listening to a Spanish conversation, which is, of course, gibberish if you are unfamiliar with the language. By the end of that first session, a mere thirty minutes later, IT MAKES SENSE! Every session thereafter introduces you to a few new words.

I do find myself having to repeat sessions so my progress is slower than expected but these are CD’s and you can re-play them as often as needed. I am finding that I can now pick out words from a Spanish conversation (or from music), which I never understood before.

Yesterday, I was able to complete a transaction at an ATM machine “en Espanol”. If you need to gain some skills with Spanish or any other foreign language, try the Pimsleur approach!.

with no prior Spanish experience I tried other learning CD’s – They were difficult and I didn’t learn much. The 1st day with Pimsleur I felt like I could go to the market and at least carry on a small conversation.

So happy I bought this. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn to speak Spanish. The reading and writing will come later. For now I am learning the language and feeling confident. Thank you for great CD’s.

I like this series, it has a vast variety of exercises for children. I Strongly recommend this book and the second one “The complete book of spanish 3-6 grades. We don’t live in the US and we can only print some pages and do the exercises, If you can’t get the paper version, the PDF is a good option too.

As a bilingual teacher, I can tell you that there are not too many resources out there for us to use with our 2nd language students. However, I am so very grateful for all the resources that Carson Dellosa has that I wish I had a million dollars so I can spend it all on what they have to offer our bilingual students and teachers.

This book is a great resource to add to any Spanish lesson for children! I purchased it to use as a supplement and guide for a 10-week school-age Spanish program I designed. Here’s a sneak peak of the second page of my syllabus and how I planned some of my lessons!.

Very expensive for what it is. The CDs and book dont match up. I know its a book to help you learn Spanish but you do need some English translations or you spend your life looking words up. Even the chapter headings are in Spanish with no explanation in English.

Not impressed at all with this course. It also implies there is a video but there isnt. Very disappointed.

Great value for a used book that would have cost 3x the price new. This used copy is great, clean and the DVDs work. No complaints.

Pasos 1 is a fabulous book to start your Spanish lessons with. As a beginner I have found it very easy to follow and the illustrations are a great help. There is also a Pasos 1 Activity book which is useful too.

was looking for book to follow along with audio discs to see word spelling while pronouncing. this is exactly what I wanted. sometimes is hard make out what is being said by instructor now can see word in booklet and know what he is saying good learning course.

Informal and formal causes confusion and complication. If it’s “for dummies”, us dummies would just like the informal version, we’re not using this for formal purposes, we just need the basics of communicating with the average person, nothing sophisticated.

I was so surprised at the usefulness of this product. It is really helping me with my attempt to learn Spanish!! I may order one for a friend to help them get started in learning this language. You need to hear the words spoken on this CD.

I am returning to school to continue my study of the spanish language. However, I haven’t used my skills in five years. So I purchased this book to help me brush up on the basics. This is a much more lively book than others I have been trying and appreciate how the sections are broken apart.

There are plenty of examples and definitions. Also each section can be reviewed seperately. I highly recommend, not for beginners, but for those that have previous spanish experience.

I taught High School Spanish for 30 years and now instruct Adult Continuing Education Spanish classes. This book is a great overview of the things one should know from beginning Spanish courses in a concise, well organized manner.

This workbook is a wonderful option to help familiarize younger children with the beginning stages of learning Spanish. We currently own The Complete Book of Starter Spanish Workbook for Grades Preschool-1, and wanted the next level up (Grade 1-3) to complete our curriculum.

We use both workbooks as a companion with other materials to make up our Spanish lessons. I love that there are plenty of engaging activities included, along with fun pictures and illustrations to entice younger students.

The lesson activities are suitable for multiple grades, so it grows with what my son is learning and his grade level. I also appreciate that the book as a whole is very comprehensive and covers a vast amount of topics, so we are consistently able to find work pages that coincide with our lessons.

You don’t need to be fluent in Spanish or even know the language to use this book, either. The lessons build up and include introductions, along with imagery and illustrations, so that students (and even teachers) can put everything together to complete the lesson activities.

Some examples of activities include matching/comparisons, writing, filling in the blanks, and even puzzles. There are also songs to recite, along with fairy tale stories translated in both English and Spanish that are taught.

The back of the book also had plenty of helpful extras, including an answer key for the activities and tons of reproducible flash card templates to help reinforce Spanish vocabulary words from the book.

I teach online and this workbook gives me a great variety of activities to give my students for homework or use in zoom them to use their virtual pens and complete. It gives a great basis for a lesson plan for Spanish 1 classes for kids, easy to understand and fun to complete.

This book is thick! I thought it was going to be a workbook like regular size. This looks like a dictionary! Great value! I totally recommend. Covers everything, from numbers to articles of clothing with fun to do puzzles, matching stuff like that.

I use these series (zebra, dolphin and turtle) for my students from 5-6 years. I complement them with Teach Them Spanish, for some more matching activities, although some are repeated. I prefer the levels separate rather than the Complete Book, which really is the same without proper separation of levels.

What I do is telling them to add the articles, so they are properly introduced to the notion of genders in Spanish. After a few sessions they are very quick to deduct the gender, and you can just explain the few exceptions or those without help from the noun.

They are learning very well to separate nouns from other words by doing this. They enjoy the tasks and love to have some colouring too!.

I am loving this book for my 1st grader! I am homeschooling him and wanted to add this to our curriculum. Love the fact he’s learning another language seeing I’m Puerto Rican and his dad is Portuguese.

I purchases this for my teenager who wanted to learn Spanish. I realize its says first grade level but I thought since shes a beginner that it would be perfect. It was! Learning a new language is hard as it is, its nice to see it at a simple level that starts with the basics.

I purchased level 2 and 3 as well.

Sadly the female host looks like a call girl in her outfit! The kids cried after watching it for the first time and the video just started. Hope they make it in a cartoon character instead. Content and video quality is good, dont get me wrong.

We ended up writing the Spanish lessons in a notebook and would just teach it someday to our kids.

This was better than I was expecting. I needed to learn basic Spanish to help at work, and this will definitely help me succeed. Great buy.

This is a perfect product for beginners. It makes learning Spanish fun and comes with book, CD, workbook and flash cards. It was amazingly good value, too. The condition is like new – the only thing that shows it is re-conditioned is that a few of the stickers have been put into the sticker book already.

But this does not detract from the product, as we would not probably use the sticker book anyway. I took a lot of time choosing which product to order and I am thoroughly pleased with my choice.

The book doesnt contain a lot of information but is very good to get into the language, contains basic phrases and conversations, CD helps as well. Using it for Year 9 school child who just started learning Spanish.

Very useful book for beginners learning Spanish. Great condition.

I’m only halfway through the beginner (essential) CD and am very happy with this program. From the beginning you start learning words and sentences, both formal and informal, male and female. I use it in my computer with headphones and follow along with the book.

It has reviews, quizzes and seems to be a very thorough program. You also have access to free online tools such as flash cards, interactive games and quizzes for each lesson. I have also played the CD’s through my stereo system.

I think that for the price, you get an extraordinary amount of learning information and help and is an extraordinary value. I’m very happy I bought this program and look forward to making it through to the advanced course! I don’t think you can find a better program!.

I was checking out an earlier version of this from the library and really like how easy it was to follow and the explination of what was going on and why as the CD played, but started to feel bad for renewing it time after time so I went on line and found that for $30 (not $300 like R Stone) I could have my own advanced version (includes the basic that I need) and my wife and I can learn at our own pace.

You get 9 discs, 3 for each level, basic, intermnediate and advanced and an easy to read and follow along work book. The book is very helpful for me as I’m a visual learner and it helps to see the words and sentences.

This will also come in handy when I start to write. The way it’s organized you could have different people at different levels all learning at the same time. I keep the book on the seat of my truck and the CD in the player so I can learn (read drill it in) as I go down the road, sit in traffic or wait for an appointment.

I’m not the type to sit at my desk and say I’m going to work on my Spanish now, I’m not that disciplined. I’ll go ride my motorcycle instead. Hats off to Walmart for the shipping too. They said 7-10 days, but I ordered it on Tuesday and got an email the next day saying it was ready for pick-up at the Walmart grocery across the street.

Doesn’t get much better than that. Bottom line, great product, high quality, it ain’t gonna change so you can use it for generations as long as you keep the CD’s dubed to whatever mediun and format is popular for that generation (memory cards, thumb drives, MP3 etc.

). It’s the best 30 bucks I’ve spent in a long time. Hope this helps.

I wouldn’t depend on it for immediately learning the basics as it throws some stuff at you and then later explains it or part of it; but, as a supplement, it is very good. It’s a good starter method regardless.

I use several different platforms for learning Spanish. I do like the books – those are very helpful for reading when you don’t or can’t use a computer.

I think Rocket Languages gives you everything that you need to use as a foreign language learner. Input and output are important to understanding language and being able to produce it, respectively. The lessons are EXTENSIVE, which is great for a beginner who needs all the output and input possible.

I’m starting to find the lessons too long; not the recordings, but the entire lessons. This may be because I have just started trying to focus more on my input (reading, listening, and doing both simultaneously), so there are parts of the lessons that make me spend more time than I’d like.

I already get output practice with a tutor two times a week (2 hrs) and with my sentence mines from Anki every day. That being said, Rocket Languages gives you a WHOLE LOT OF USEFUL sentences and phrases to remember (if you choose to remember them); they can be mined in a spaced repetition deck like Anki, Quizlet, or whatever.

All-in-all, Rocket Languages seems to give you the most comprehensive method for improving your language skills ESPECIALLY for the price! So the value is top-notch! I’d just recommend supplementing your teachings here with your own sentence mines in a spaced repetition system like ANKI and weekly tutoring from a live, native speaker in your target language.

Lots of variation in the learning methods. With lots of opportunities to practice what you are learning as you go along. There is also a free app that you can use in relation to all of the audio exercises.

When I started my Spanish class we were recommended to get the book and not the CD/DVD set. I thought it was because we’d listed to the CD in class but that didn’t really happen regularly so my recommendation regardless of the expense is to get the book and CD/DVD together so that you can do the exercises and hear Spanish being spoken as the two products really do go hand in hand.

My family is full-time RV travelers, and we home school our children. I have been trying to find the perfect book to add Spanish to our curriculum. This is it! We work together orally, with him having a separate spiral notebook to write his answers.

The book starts simple enough, has sufficient explanations, and progresses to a great point for the end of a Spanish I course. We look forward to Spanish II next year.

This book came in really handy for my lesson plans and classes for middle schoolers. Get the digital version for your online classes. Their lexical approach along with the grammar tips really help build a solid background of Spanish for begginers.

This has been an excellent book to use to introduce my middle school students to the basics of Spanish. They are already able to speak and read questions and answers. The explanations are clear, and there is plenty of practice for the students to apply what they have learned.

I checked out this book before giving to my grandkids and it looks like l could use for myself to learning a new language

My 6 year old is having fun with it. We’ve only gone through a few colors, but she likes the activities (coloring, categorizing, etc).

I am working through the course with 8 other people. All are beginners or “second time around beginners”. Our course facilitator is confident that, if we stick to the structured approach (and actually get to the end) we will achieve our objective of being able to hold a conversation with native Spanish speakers.

He has 2 comments: He would prefer the narrators to have been English as the Spanish narrators are sometimes “clipping” words as they would when conversing with a friend. Also, he has supplemented the course with “2001 Most useful Spanish words ” a book to increase our vocabulary.

Learning a language is far from easy, this course is quite good but progresses very quickly. You need to play one track and pause to take in that particular set of phrases, preferably making notes too.

Having Spanish speakers is very helpful too. Check you receive all 4 CDs in the box, many appear to have been boxed at the BBC factory without all the discs being placed in the pack.

Uneasy to follow, jumps from one thing to the other without fully completing the last section. 1st CD doesn’t cover the alphabet, skips through numbers in 2 mins! But teaches you to ask a woman if she is married? Overall a complete waste of money.
