20 Best Countertop Ovens For Baking (2023 Updated)

I am really liking this very much, a little bigger than my Breville Countertop Oven (had that for 4. 5 years, convection fan stopped working recently). I really liked how the Breville cooked evenly and quick, but it was pricey, so I decided on this oven in hopes that it would be as good.

So far, I have made a bundt cake in about 35 min per box mix instructions, came out great; it used to take my regular oven 55 min for a bundt cake. Feeling good about that. Toasts great. I use the bake function for most things like frozen meatballs, fries, fish sticks.

All come out good. I am keeping a journal on how long things take and temp settings, etc. I read so many reviews for many different ovens in my search for a replacement for my Breville, and decided on this one.

The negatives that I was concerned about, oven door gets really hot, a little gap in the door closure (no heat/steam escaping that effects anything that I noticed), runs hotter than other ovens (I was concerned about burning stuff, but I was cautious the first time using to make sure I didn’t overcook anything, using lower temp to make sure, found out that wasn’t necessary).

Overall, I think this was a smart choice for my needs. It is easy to clean, as long as you clean it when it cools down, don’t let stuff build up. Advice is to keep journal on cooking things to get used to how it works.

I wish the timer counted down below a minute, kinda was used to that with the Breville, but not a deal breaker, it is just what you get used to I suppose. I pull it out a little from under my cabinets so the cabinet doesn’t get too hot, not a big deal.

I like that it does fit a 9 x 13 pan (no handles) which comes included, not with high sides, it is the shallow tray pan. Oh, almost forgot, the convection fans are super quiet, you almost wonder if they are on.

The convection fan for the Breville was noisy, so you know that was going on. Totally worth the price, got at Bed Bath and Beyond, used coupon, bought online, beat out Amazon price. Hope this helps people in their decision.

We tried two of these, due to finding this model on a couple of recommended lists. The first one did not heat to the desired temperature, sometimes as much as 75 degrees too low (used an oven thermometer to check because when set to 400 it just did not seem to be hot).

so, returned that but figured it might be just a lemon so ordered another of the same. This time the temperature was better, though still randomly above or below by 25 degrees or so. We know toaster ovens are not known for having good temperature control so considered keeping it anyway but then noticed the door was warped a bit on one side causing a 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap where the heat would be escaping.

Also the door handle was loose and jiggly on one side, starting to hang off of the door. So, returned this one too and decided to go up a level and buy the Breville BOV845. More expensive for sure but it holds the correct temperature and is built well (great heavy duty door handle) and user friendly.

Who knows if this will last but we are really really happy with it. I gave it 2 stars because the design seemed good, compact, would be okay if you didn’t mind fidgeting each time with the temperature.

Also it had a 3 year waranty which i guess it needs! Bed Bath and Beyond took our returns with no question.

This is a very good unit for its purpose. We chose the Cuisinart over a comparable Breville model because the latter uses PTFE/PFOA non-stick coatings. When heated to high temps, these coatings give off odorless gases that are possibly cancer causing to humans and known to cause rapid death in companion birds.

With that said, the Cuisinart performs extremely well in all functions. The convection fan is quiet and really makes a difference. Our only complaint is the function dial which is flimsy and cheaply made vs.

Otherwise, this is a five star product. As for those who say the exterior gets hot, what appliance like this doesn’t? The product Includes several well-made trays and a pizza stone. It also has a useful.

After many years with a Breville convection toaster oven, it started to lose function, so we bought this Cuisinart. I will divide my review into pros and cons; unfortunately, there are far more cons.

Pros: 1. Attractive and quiet. 2. Wide range of temps, times, and functions. 3. Comes with two grates and pizza stone. Cons. 1. The function dial is flimsy and needs to be set EVERY time, even if the same function is done repeatedly.

2. Despite maximizing sounds, they are barely audible. 3. The baking pan, grates, and crumb tray are very hard to clean. 4. The oven light goes on for 2 full minutes whenever the door is opened. 5. Only the toaster counts down by seconds.

6. The 30-second button does not work after the function stops. 7. Door does not close tightly and so leaks heat. 8. Preheating even to 350°F takes over 7 minutes. It is only 1 month old and I still have all the original packaging, so I wish Cuisinart would let me return it.

Does what I need it to do. After a few uses, I needed to reduce the settings (time) for toasting/bagels. It makes no sense to me to advise me to unplug after every use and also to have options that would constantly need to be reset (clock, loudness of beeping).

That aside, I find it easy to use, despite my being a bit confused by the documentation. I usually prefer to read all the documentation and think I understand how it works before I even plug it in, but a lot of things became much clearer (and simpler) once I actually used it.

I don’t cook much and haven’t tried dual timings or anything more complex than toast, bagels (frozen and thawed), and regular baking of frozen pizza (in a pan, not on the stone). I also don’t use convection features (I dislike noise).

(The beep satisfies my need for less noise, but I do get distracted waiting for things to cook and should probably turn it up so it’s not so easy to ignore. So far the low level hasn’t been a problem, though.

This cooker is amazing. It can cook two 16″ pizzas at a time. Just have to spin them around at half the time because the door leaks. This can be fixed with a little foil. Just put foil around the door to help the oven work better because glass does not hold heat as good as foil.

Use freezer foil because it is thicker. I saw someone said it was on fire and smoking. This oven is amazing but does not self clean. If you let it drip food on the bottom and touch the very hot heater coil and just lie and say it just was on fire well maybe you should not cook because you do not know how to clean up after your self.

I have has this cooker for over 5 years and it works very well and amazing. I cook pizzas seral times a year for friends and family. The broil is also good for a crisp finish on food that is cooked or when people want food heated up to eat.

Just clean the bottom part where the heater coil is. Food stuck on the coil can start a fire because oil is flammable and will smoke. The element will not smoke if kept clean. I put foil above the coil on an empty rack when using the upper rack.

This makes cleaning easy if something drips or falls. Just use some critical thinking and plan meals and clean up after and please all be safe. The oven does get very hot because 400 degrees is very very hot.

I have the older verson of this Oster convection oven that has knobs instead of push buttons. It still works perfect even after 6 years. I wanted a newer verson, which preheats even to 400 degrees in 6 min.

Plus this newer verson has a lite in the oven. I have baked biscuits in it, cornbread, cherry pie, and tonight a lemon bunt cake. All came out perfect! The large Oster convection is not too large but is large enough to cook anything I want.

I have not used my large gas range oven but 1 time in 6 years. I am sold on Oster Ovens. The temperture is right on, and you don’t hear the convection fan at all. I use convection bake on everything, including pizza.

You won’t go wrong with this Oster convection oven.

I have now had three of the Oster XL toaster ovens. I love the size and use it practically every day. The old model used a mechanical timer, temperature, and mode (toast, bake, convection bake, broil) selection knobs.

The timer was the weakest part of the unit but was preferable to the new electronic controls. The temperature and mode selection knob stayed on the selection last used, so to turn on all I had to do was turn the timer knob past 20 minutes then to the time desired and it was heating up.

It was already set to the last temperature used and usually in the convection bake mode. Now I must reset time, temperature and mode with at least 3 punches of buttons that do not give much in the way of confirmation they are activated and to get the right temp I could be punching buttons numerous times.

I know this sounds petty but the engineers who designed this unit have NEVER used it. They tried to make it all electronic and succeeded but at the expense of convenience and simplicity. I have been asked several times by my two daughters (15 & 18) can we just fix the old one, it was much better.

I purchased this oven in January while I was waiting for my new wall oven to be installed. For several months it was my ONLY oven and I must say that it was fabulous. It was so much more than the standard countertop oven.

I was thrilled with my purchase. that was, until I noticed that my food wasn’t really getting as hot as it should be (when I was warming leftovers). At first, I chalked it up to my not leaving it in long enough or moving to fast as I multitasked in the kitchen.

Then, after repeated incidents, I took time to measure the internal temperature with a thermometer. As I suspected, the oven was not coming to temperature – despite the fact that the pre-heat bell had indicated that it was at the proper temp.

To add insult to injury, when I contacted WS last evening, they indicated that I could not return the item to them as defective and that I would need to contact Wolf – which I will do after the holiday (today is Thanksgiving).

I must say that I am prepared for a fight as I have now read some other online reviews which indicated that other people have been told no returns and no repair options. This is totally unacceptable.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM – trust me, you don’t want to be like me writing a negative review on Thanksgiving morning.

I do not recommend this oven. The Wolf oven is cheaply made compared to my old Breville. The sheet metal is thin and already had a couple of dings in it right out of the box. The pan that came with it is not much more substantial than a disposable aluminum pan you would buy at the grocery store.

The removable rack system is awkward. The pan that came with the oven barely fits because the racks are so clunky. My old Breville had multiple rack placement options. The Wolf only has three. The Wolf is so small inside (thanks to the clunky racks) that a normal sized pizza pan will not even fit in it.

My 9 x 13 pan will only fit if it is shoved in catty-cornered. The knobs feel like they could break off with any given twist. The chime is not loud enough. The door does not sit flush on the counter.

The only good quality it has, it that it does cook; but so do cheaper discount store ovens. For the price I paid, I was very disappointed. I feel like this oven may last a year and then I will upgrade to a new Breville.

I originally shopped for the air fryer/toaster oven combinations as seen on TV. I’m glad I found Kitchen Aid’s air-fryer instead. This product is well-built and performs great. The instruction book is well-written and simple to understand, which makes the controls easy to use.

The auto-light is helpful when monitoring your cooking. The glass door is large with padded stops so that you an see everything and not bang the door when shutting it. On other fryers, I’ve read reviews where the fan was too loud.

This air-fryer fan is so quiet! This model is packed with cooking options and multiple trays. I don’t have to heat an entire oven for cooking (thus, saving on my electric bill) and it’s almost as fast as a microwave in reheating! I was reluctant to replace my traditional Kitchen Aid toaster oven because it is so well-built and operates perfectly some 10 years later, but I do like the air-fryer feature on this one.

I’ve had it for one month and so far used the Air Fry, Toast, and Bake functions with no problems – nice and even heat distribution. I am still experimenting with the default timings, but have been pleased so far.

This model is similar in size and shape, so no compromise had to be made for location. If you leave your food in the oven after the cook time, it will automatically shut off and chime to let you know it’s ready, but even better is the fact that it will continue to chime every once in a while until you cancel or open the door, in case your forget.

That’s a nice improvement over my old oven. I can’t seem to part with my old traditional toaster oven from Kitchen Aid, but this new model will take it’s place on the counter. I expect to keep this one for a long time.

After nearly 30 years with “another” maker’s toaster oven we took a chance and purchased a refurbished KitchenAid toaster oven. All I can say is WOW! Not only are the controls completely user-friendly and intuitive but, this is THE BEST countertop oven I have ever used.

The toaster function is just a small part of what this KitchenAid appliance does well. It bakes/broils as well as if not better than our gas oven and it preheats in a remarkably short period of time.

The timer function is dead-on perfect and we could not be more pleased with the finished products we’ve cooked in our toaster oven. Forget the European high tech ovens out there – overpriced and not reliable in the long term.

This toaster oven rocks our world. great job, KitchenAid!.

My only problem is that I have to look close to read the words (cook, toast, reheat, etc). Lettering is small, and is NOT DIRECTLY in front of me. On the reviews that I read before buying it, someone mentioned not being able to hear the tones it makes.

I was in the basement at the other end of the house. I actually heard the tone when it shut off. It doesn’t seem loud when I’m next to, though. I’ve only had this about a month, but love how it bakes.

Toasted with it once, just to check it out. Haven’t checked amount of time compared to my toaster, but, might end up getting rid of my toaster if time is about the same. My previous toaster oven was a convection, and did not bake good.

It have a rotisserie, but I didn’t use it much.

My husband surprised me with my Breville Smart Oven Pro for the 46th anniversary of our engagement! I/we really like ours and use it almost daily and on some days two or three times. The learning curve was very little.

Our favorite features are Toast, Bake, Warm and Reheat. The TOAST pre-set of 4&4 is perfect for our breakfast toast (2 slices) And the same goes for 2 “toasted cheese sandwiches. ” We BAKE (regular/no convection) most of our dinner/supper entres.

And the size of Smart Oven Pro allows for even my 9-3/4×9-3/4x 2” casserole with lid, too! The non-stick 12 inch “pizza” pan that came along –is almost worth its weight in gold as they say. For keeping fresh pizzeria pizza toasty with the “WARM” setting (our preference middle rack and temp 200 degrees).

For leftover cold pizzeria pizza – making it mouth watering with the “REHEAT” setting (our preference middle rack temp 325 degrees). The REHEAT setting is wonderful for a piece of cake/brownie, etc. in bringing back that just baked smell and taste.

I must include in my review that the convection fan noise is noticeable. So, this is an area for Breville to “work” on going forward to make their oven even better!.

I waited to review this Oster countertop convection oven until I used it for awhile. I purchased this same model years ago and it was my kitchen workhorse — versatile, dependable, able to cook an entire meal in it.

I used it nearly every day and had no issues with it. In fact, when I recently bought the new one from Wayfair my old Oster countertop convection oven still worked just fine. The new oven arrived in excellent condition.

After using it for awhile I do have my doubts that it will last as long as my old one. This one makes odd noises every now and then, but still seems to work ok. So, we shall see if it lasts. One thing I did notice is my old Oster countertop convection oven came with a 5 year warranty, but the newer version I recently purchased now only has a 1 year warranty.

That gives me pause. However, I do recommend this Oster countertop convection oven.

I have been a William Sonoma customer for many years. It is for this reason that I purchased my Breville Toaster Oven from William Sonoma when I replaced my Breville toaster oven which I used regularly for 5 years without a problem.

I had been pleased with the performance of my new oven, especially the convection feature, when it develop a noise that sounded like a helicopter landing. I determined this to be an issue with the convection fan.

I contacted Wm. Sonoma customer service and was told that their warranty covered only the first month after purchase and to contact Breville. After contacting Breville I was told that their warranty was one year, and since I had owned my toaster oven for 2 years, they could provide a small credit for a new toaster oven, if I ordered directly from them.

I am disappointed with the performance of my Breville product and the customer service or lack thereof provided by William Sonoma and Breville. I specifically chose to buy my Breville from William Sonoma rather than its competitors, who were offering the product for this same price, because I thought that Wm Sonoma stood behind its products.

I am even more disappointed with the quality of this product, as problems with the convection fan appear to be a common issue.

This is my second oven of this model type. First unit bought in/around 2013. Second in 2018. The are temperature accurate ( I checked with a thermocouple). Quick to heat up. Do a good job at what they are supposed to do.

But they are perfectly designed through planned obsolesce. They do not last very long and so far both of mine gave up the ghost after 3-5 years. I took the first one completely apart to recycle it just to see how it was designed and constructed.

There is little to no insulation in these ovens this is why the exterior gets so hot. They are designed to be put together fast on an assembly line for high volume production. My first oven the display died.

On the second oven the convection fan seized up. It made a bad noise for about 10 seconds then seized. Now it’s locked up. I sent in the second one to Breville for repair at a cost of $125 which is reasonable since it includes shipping.

We will see how long it takes for them to repair/replace and get it back to me. I do not have any experience with other counter top ovens from competitors so I can’t compare. I was born in the 60’s so I still remember when product were made better to last longer.

But our economy is based on consumption so this is what we get now. I am still of the mindset that I’d rather pay 25-50% more in capital cost for a longer lasting appliance. It’s better for the environment and more convenient to have something that you rely on every day work when expected.
