20 Best Cough Syrup For Toddlers (2023 Updated)

I purchased this in the duo box! After running low on tylenol and feeling uncomfortable giving that to my daughter, I didn’t see many results with that brand. But when I switched over to these i noticed her fever has gotten a lot better and she is back to her happy self.

I purchased Friday it is now sunday, she has been sick maybe since Tuesday/ Wednesday and I definitely noticed a significant difference in her cold since switching. Her cough is a little better, but I definitely love this.

I also combined the immune drops every here and then for great results!.

But This Stuff Does Not Work. $20 Down The Drain. To Those That Say This Stuff Works. It’s Great That It Work For Your Children. But This Is An Honest Review. And This Stuff Does Nothing. Once Again Please Don’t Waste Your Money.

I was hopeful given the reviews, and had the same caution about what I wanted to give my 21 month old, however, this barely did anything. She has a cold and developed a fever, which was causing nasal congestion and inability to sleep.

This did help her to sleep longer boughts, but she still had moments of restlessness in the night from nasal congestion. She wasn’t eating much; developed ear infections and her nose/upper lip were raw from managing nasal drip (runny nose).

We ended up giving her a small dose of Tylenol to bring fever down and get her through a night before we went to the doctor the next day. We are now 4 nights in and she’s definitely on the mend, so the quick turnaround could be attributed to giving this the first day she had symptoms, but hard to say.

We immediately started trying this at night and it works wonders to help sooth her throat, calms the cough and helps her sleep better. I noticed that without this syrup she would wake up during the night complaining of her throat / coughing, from the first night we tried this she has slept like a rock felt a lot better upon waking up in the morning.

Only downside is this dose NOT taste good at all, I know it’s supposed to taste like grape but it dose not, not at all. I wish they had just made it honey flavored. Even though my girl didn’t like the flavor she had no issue taking it since after that first night she slept better and her throat felt better too, so she could tell it was working.

She would even ask for this syrup if she saw that I was reaching for our old standby nighttime syrup out of habit. I will no longer be buying anything other than this cough syrup, it is just that good.

Also this is super super thick, like cold molasses thick. So I recommend using a large spoon to give it to the child or if they aren’t happy with the taste to mix it with a little warm water a little extra honey to make a “tea” and give it that way.

I found this way to be best as I was already giving her vitamin c powder tonic water (a good source of quinine which helps to fight the CV) mixed with warm water, so mixing this in with everything else worked great for us helped to defuse the bad taste enough so that she didn’t mind it so much.

I’m super happy that it’s all natural and has no bad junk in it, just good natural stuff to help build her immune system up to fight the cold. Usually I find that the majority of natural cough syrups only work for an hour or so then it’s back to square one, with this cough syrup I found that it worked very well lasted all night which makes me one happy mama! Yes, I would highly recommend this to everyone who has children.

Even if they aren’t sick now go ahead and grab a few bottles of this because it has been a total game changer for my family and I will be buying only this from now on because of how well it worked for my girl.

First I cannot rave enough about how Great of a natural brand Burts Bees is. I love how Burt’s bee’s daytime cough syrup and immune support is gentle enough for children 1+ and has Manuka Honey that should be effective too as a natural cough suppressant.

Please make sure your child/baby can consume honest first though! Even if you look up remedies from back when Honey was always included and treated for cough, sore throat and lots of other yucky symptoms.

I was very happy and thankful for Burt’s Bee’s and Influenster for sending this to me free for my honest review because I don’t we would put it to good use especially around this time of year my kid’s sinuses start going crazy and their immune system starts changing with the weather allowing colds and viral germs in.

I’ve tried plenty of cough and cold medicines from this brand and my kids would actually take it without putting up a fuss. This medicine is grape flavored but does not have an over whelming medicine flavor to it and it is very thick which to me means it should work better.

? My theory anyways. I would definitely recommend this to any mother who has sick babies with a minor cough or cold. (That does not have an allergy to honey that is!!).

My daughter has been struggling with a sore throat for a couple of days and was in need of some relief. The cough syrup was easy to administer. The honey flavor was palatable to my daughter. She said she preferred the taste of this syrup more than other flavors she’s had.

I absolutely positively love the hylands brand. I have used this for every single one of my children. They’re fairly cheap, they cost Pennies on the dollar. Super effective. And homeopathic. I will always buy this brand and I recommend to everyone! I don’t like to use medicine unless absolutely necessary, if I do have to for colic or teething or gas, or the calms forte.

I give this product 5 stars all the way. My two little girls have RSV and are just suffering from their coughs but this product is the Only thing taming their coughs. And I noticed they are not as congested in their chest since starting this product.

My daughter is 21 months old, so we are still a few months away from being able to use OTC cough medicine. I ran into Target to pick up a few cold remedies for her, some nasal spray, Vicks, Boogie Wipes and I noticed that this product (the day version) was on clearance.

I figured I’d give it a shot. I tried it myself first, and it tastes great! Very similar to the taste and consistency of honey. My daughter took it easily, and was able to sleep comfortably through the night.

I will definitely be picking this up again. The only downfall is that it needs to be refrigerated and thrown out after a few weeks. But, I definitely think it’s worth it.

I am not sure if this has been even passed any medical professional, but putting vitamin C on first hand for supplement design for night time then adding melatonin to children product to make them sleep while mucus is accumulated in their chest is something I thing very very bad.

For almost a year and a half now, this cough syrup has been my absolutely life and sanity saver! I’m always stocked up with this as well as my usual vitamin c and d and probiotics for my little one since she was just under one.

The vitamins typically do a great job of protecting her but she has had a few episodes of coughing from a cold/flu. This is when Zarbee’s has never let me down! This cough syrup is absolutely amazing in taking care of the problem before it actually escalated to becoming severe enough.

Usually takes about a day or two of strictly following the directions and the cough subsides along with the remainder of the symptoms. This particular formula is also great in reducing mucus even in babies who heavily drink milk (as milk causes excessive mucus buildup).

Maximum two days is what it took to get rid of the cough, the mucus and the congestion from same. My pediatrician gave The go ahead to use this when my little one was about 10 months old, but go ahead and check with yours just to make sure.

What I do not like About it is that the syringe that comes in Hass to be dipped fully into the bottle, and does get very syrupy. Then you have to wash it and reuse the same syringe. I wish that there was an easier way to dispense the cough syrup as opposed to having a wide opening, but given how effective it is in treating what it is meant to treat, I can’t complain much.

After giving them the appropriate dose at 2pm, both my 2 and 4 year old slept through the night and breathed easier for the first time in three nights. Both seemed to not mind the taste. My husband is skeptical of ‘medicine with no medicine in it’ as he says, but I also sleep better knowing that our kids aren’t being filled with chemicals.

Medicine can and does effectively come from nature and I’m happy that they are benefitting from this purchase. Yes, it does come with a measuring cup. It’s the honey cup shaped cover over the safety cover.

4 stars because it’s not the easiest to interpret. I used a medicine syringe to measure into the cap first to confirm the 1 tsp line in contrast to the labeled 2tsp line. Yes, I know it’s half, but it would help if the lid were transparent and had both lines marked.

I never do reviews on medicine but this one definitely deserves it. My kids (both 2) have had a stubborn cough and congestion for almost a week now. We were doing a different brand night and day cold medicine and honestly it didn’t seem to be helping.

Decided to give this one a try and I noticed a difference in both of my kids within that hour, even my husband took some and he felt almost instant relief for his cough. Great stuff.

She came down with a cough that was keeping her up at night. The normal cough syrup she would take when getting this cough, had run out. Then, I remembered I had the Burt Bees nighttime cough syrup. I was very optimistic to try it with the ingredients it contained along with the honey.

As I gave it to her, she gagged over and over again almost causing herself to vomit. She was making the squeamish face letting me know this syrup tasted horrible. After finally getting her to calm down and to sleep, I would see if the battle was worth it.

The Burts Bees nighttime cough syrup did suppress her cough for a good 3 hours. She was able to rest and not cough even once. Around the 3 hour mark, the coughing started. Slowly at first and then more consistent.

This is a brand I have trusted and liked for a long time now, but I’m not sure the battle was worth only 3 hours. I’m not sure if I would recommend this or not. Maybe for kids a little older, but the taste seemed to be too much for my little one.

If there were different flavors available, I would be willing to give those a try.

I received a complimentary bottle of Burts Bees Kids Nighttime Cough Syrup, which can also be used as a supplement for immune support. I was pleased to see there were no hormones, it’s non-gmo, no synthetic ingredients, no artificial sweeteners, and no preservatives.

I also liked that it had a base of honey, which was apparent in the consistency when poured. However, I was only able to try this product for one dose because my daughter did not like the natural grape taste at all.

She took a little sip and couldn’t finish the serving. Unfortunately if I cannot get her to consume it, I can’t rate it very high. I had a taste, myself, and it tasted more like fermented grape to me.

So, my 2 year old daughter has had a nagging little cough for about 3 days now. We’ve been giving her Triaminic cough medicine which has always seemed to be the best one for younger kids like her, though it’s never really worked great.

She woke up this morning and couldn’t go 5 minutes without coughing. I went to the Dollar Store and got some Hylands after remembering seeing it when buying the other stuff. She’s on her second dose and I’ve only heard her cough twice! That’s something special seeing that she’s taken almost a full bottle of Triaminic and has had almost zero relief.

10mL of this stuff and she’s already feeling 100x times better. This will be the only medicine we use from here on out. Great product. I never leave reviews on things by the way. Felt I should on this one though.

Are use this Highlands for kids cough and cold medicine when they have a cough runny nose sneezing sore throat. The one thing that I would improve in this product is to make the taste better so when the kids do have to take it you don’t have to fight with them to take it they’ll take it if it taste better than what it is.

I’m not a fan of liquid medications like cough syrup. I find their taste and consistency off-putting. However, this syrup went down easy. Even better, the syrup worked really well. It controlled my cough related to post-nasal drip from a sinus infection.

I believe the bump of zinc helped to expedite my recovery. The z-pack from my PCP did nothing. This syrup, recommended to me by a functional medical doctor, got me on the road to recovery quickly. My kids take it without issue as well.

I was looking for a non-narcotic cough medicine that i can use for my dry cough. i bought the daytime version when I was desperately looking for something for my cough. Nothing I bought at the drug store seemed to work.

I went to the Vitamin Shoppe to see what they had and i bought the daytime Boericke & Tafel syrup even though I had never heard of it before. It worked so well my husband told me to get the night time syrup too.

it tastes like cough medicine but i expected that. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to work. It has been more effective for me than the over the counter cough syrups I buy at the pharmacy. I can take it as often as I need to without complications.
