20 Best Cotton Yarn For Dishcloths (2023 Updated)

This yarn is great for cotton scrubbies. It’s can be a little difficult to work with but it’s doesn’t alter the quality. The best way I’ve found to use this yarn is kitchen scrubbies or even making pads for my swiffer.

Great new scrubby yarn with 2 different textures of yarn all in one. When knitted up they make the perfect loofah without having to tie on different yarns. Love the colors and the look.

Love the color choices. But I can get more ‘scrubbiness’ with certain stitches. More difficult to crochet than polyester scrubby yarn. When I ordered I thought that was what I was getting. (Didn’t read label thoroughly).

Just wish polyester scrubby yarn came in these awesome colors! Will be returning. Definitely do not like, especially for dish cloths!! Put these color choices in polyester scrubby, PLEASE!.

I don’t know anything about quilting or knitting stuff but I bought this for my wife to use. Apparently this is a very tiny roll of it. I saw her other rolls and they are way bigger. She says it’s all good but I think I bought the wrong stuff.

The actual string seems to be just fine it is a nice light blue color just like the picture.

For years I didn’t understand why this cottonyarn was so popular. It’s a little rough, but many use it for making dish cloths. I recently tried it and really like the way it works up in these market bags.

I like the colours available and the value is pretty great. These are popular sellers for me so I’ll continue making my own pattern.

as per my review i think the product is wonderful to work with as a crochet project. this product makes great projects as it does not to seem to be joined together ( in a ball as all one strand not having knots and put together ) where other products i have used and returned to the store for that defect.

I have made over 30 blankets with the Bernat Hadicrafter, It is great.

The color in real time is a bit more warm tone but I still like it. Compared to the ombre’s and stripes, the solids are softer and less sticky. Yes it splits easy but when washed it does tighten up which is nice when using it for kitchen appliances and small grocery bags.

Small test swatch useage, the cotton yarn is very durable and surprisingly protected my desk from burning when lighting a candle in both a tin and glass containers. Having my cats play with it, yeah it got a little messed up but when stretched it a little, it went back to normal so will be buying more to use as cat toys.

I’ve purchased several colors / skeins of Sugar ‘n Cream yarn before and have always been very happy. But this skein of yarn gave me problems. I came across a knot within the first 1/4 of the skein, which was actually holding two different ends together.

I cut the knot out and wove in the two ends. But the worst was the twisted 4 ply kept separating, unwinding. It made it difficult to knit, and showed in the knitted piece when finished. I was only knitting dish cloths so I struggled through it.

I want to knit more in this color, but a bit worried that the next skein will be the same. Hopefully, it was just one bad Skein. I’m not giving up, I’ll buy more.

I bought this yarn to make a crop top and a bralette and I absolutely love it. It’s soft enough to wear next to the skin, but sturdy and hardwearing enough to actually be worn. It doesn’t split whilst you’re working with it and doesn’t snap.

I love that it’s wraped in a cake which makes pulling from the middle really easy, and I love how vibrant the colours are. The fact it’s machine washable is a big plus, and it’s affordable enough to buy multiple skeins at a time!.

This yarn makes a beautiful baby blanket. It’s very soft. I have two negatives, though. It sheds white fuzz on everything it touches. I was crocheting in the car and had the ball of yarn on the floor.

I noticed my pants were covered with white fuzz from where I had the blanket sitting. Also, my black carpet was covered with white fuzz which was very difficult to vacuum up. My other complaint is the strands separate very easily, making it difficult bring the hook back through a loop quickly without catching one of the strands.

These things are probably what makes the finished product so soft but they can be problems as well.

I bought this yarn to crochet a baby blanket, and I’m really not a big fan of it. For a yarn called Softee, I feel like it’s really not all that soft. And the weirdest thing is, the texture and feel varies so much between 2 different shades of the same exact yarn.

I bought lilac and white, and the lilac has much more of a soft, smooth feel, while the white is like a rougher less soft yarn and also feels a bit thicker and looks more dull. If I’d seen both of them without the labels on, I’d swear they were 2 totally different types of yarn.

Kind of frustrating since I’m using them both for the same project, and expected them to feel the same.

I sell knitted baby hats and blankets so consistent quality is a requirement for my materials. I tried this yarn out for the first time after my original go-to brand discontinued 3 of my most popular colors.

Bernat’s baby blanket yarn colors were very similar to the colors I used previously so I decided to test it out. first of all, this yarn is SO much softer and nicer than what I had been using! I actually knit myself a hat with some of the extra yarn because I loved it so much lol.

I bought this a week ago in store. Thought the combination of red white & blue yarn with scrubby yarn would make an interesting & pretty dish cloth. It did NOT. Very POOR joins of different types and colors of yarn.

Colors were not true. At one point a portion of the scrubby yarn was bald for 6-7 inches, just a singke bald thread in that section. The white scrubby portion varied between white & a stone color, just leaving patches that look like dirty or discolored sections.

I rarely leave reviews, but I have knit many skeins of cotton yard and scrubby yarn previously including many with varied colors, but none has ever been as poor in quality & color as this. So felt I really must comment on this poor one.

But I will also say that usually I do like shopping at JoAnns, and have enjoyed many other skeins of Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn. Just not this one.

Makes Great washcloths. I prefer reg scrubby yarn for dishes because of the higher texture, but this is the BEST for a nice exfoliating washcloth in the bath. Or use it with a facial mask and your face will feel WONDEEEEEEEEEERFUL! I gave Many of these for gifts and they were Extremely well received.

There is that issue with the join and it’s not always smooth. When you split nearly any yarn, it’s not smooth. At least this does transition. I love it! Takes some time to get used to. And not always easy to work with.

But sometimes hard to work with when you get to the scrubby part. It’s hard to knit those stitches. I do love the yarn overall. The colors are very pretty. But to knit w/it on a constant basis, I won’t do.

I need to give my eyes a break. The scrubby part isn’t as dense as using scrubby yarn. This yarn does make up great washcloths!.

I bought the Red Heart Scrubby yarn thinking it would make great little scrub pads to gift along with dish clothes and hot pads. Unfortunately, like most novelty yarns it’s difficult to work with, because it’s scratchy, doesn’t slide well and it’s difficult to see the stitches.

I have tried pairing it with a cotton or bamboo yarn, which works a lot easier and makes a fairly good dishwashing cloth, just not quite as small or abrasive as I originally planned for it to be.

1 ball, on sz 5 needles, starting with 25-27 sts, makes an EXCELLENT back scrubber for the shower. Row 1: K across. Row 2: K1, Sl 1 across. Easy peasy! I HATE knitting with it, but the end result is totally worth it.

Scrubby yarn is excellent for its purpose— to create scrub cloths. It’s not particularly soft to work with, but using in small projects is not a problem. Because of the wide range of colors, those scrub cloths can be very decorative.

Both of my daughters liked the scrub cloths I made for them for Christmas and asked for more!.

Yeah. It’s cute. Very cute. I loved the colors, but one thing just ruined this for me. The knots. I bought 6 balls and every single one was restrained by knots. I let it pass for the first ball, but all 6? I ended up just cutting off the knots and tying the yarn together, but since there is very little yarn in the first place, I do not have enough to make a scarf with the length I wanted.

Do not buy!.

Wow, wow, wow. Absolutely amazing chocolates with amazing liquors deep inside that tastes fantastic. Yummy yummy yummy. Wish I had one now but I’ve reluctantly shared a couple of them. will defiantly buying more.

We have not had liqueur chocolates for some time, as they were too sugary and the liqueur flavour was too faint. These chocolates changed our mind. My wife and I both like them very much. They are less sugary in the chocolate ‘bottles’ than those we have previously had, and the liqueur flavour is strong.

We find we have to ration them or the box will disappear the first evening.

Anthon Berg liqueur chocolates each have a proper spirit centre and high quality chocolate casing giving a perfect explosion of flavour when you eat them.

Do NOT USE this yarn in the microwave for ANY REASON! It WILL BURN YOU! It’s got POLYESTER in it so does NOT work well. Since it has POLYESTER in it, it does NOT absorb water for use of dishcloths or washcloths very well.

I use yarn that’s 100% COTTON ONLY for such things. The colors are nice and I LOVE them; but this yarn is NOT FOR ME! I make LOTS of washcloths and dishcloths for many and others have commented on the difference of the dishcloths when I gave them to them w/using this yarn.

Even others can see the difference in it.

I am very pleased with Premier Mills cotton yarn. I purchased a cone of golden oak to crochet market bags for my adult granddaughters. I love the natural look of this verigated yarn. My granddaughters were very pleased and so was I.

The cotton yarn is perfect because it is strong and doesn’t stretch out like acrylic yarn would.

Have used this yarn for potholders, dish cloths, wash cloths, back scrubbers, and plastic bag holders. Have made for myself, gifts, and for sale. Potholders made are double layered (thermal crochet) and they are perfect for potholders.

The small amount of polyester keeps them a little softer than 100% cotton after numerous washes and more colorfast. This is my go to yarn for most kitchen and bath crochet projects. Feedback has been super positive.

I love this yarn! It is slightly thinner than some other cotton yarns but for the projects that I make, it doesn’t make a difference. I use it for washcloths and soap saver pouches for charity programs.

I also find that, for an equivalent weight, this yarn has more yardage. It also tends to be a lower price than the other brands. So, at a lower price, you get more yardage. It’s a “win,win” for my charity projects.

It is difficult to work with, splits on almost every stitch! If I hadn’t already agreed to make it, I would actually just throw it away! It’s cheap but not worth the frustration!.

Not as soft as the original Handicrafter cotton, and tends to split a little if you’re not pretty careful. But for what I was making (dish scrubbies with this a Red Heart scrubby yarn) it worked very well.

Bernat yarn is a fantastic yarn that is easy to crochet or knit . The patterns that are included are easy to follow & create a beautiful & useful item. Also the huge assortment of colors is enticing.

First off, the most important thing to me was that these yarns are colorfast. The variety of shades is great, and projects work up super quick. Mostly I use cotton yarns for dishcloths and trivets, but have had occasion to work up a swimsuit coverup in Lydia’s yarn.

which BLED all over itself. While I was working with the Lydia’s the colors were bleeding onto my hands. I had to set the piece in vinegar and water to stop the bleeding, and when I gifted it, I had to explain that when wet, the colors may still run so be careful not to sit on anything important as the colors might transfer.

Just the colorfastness alone is enough to highly recommend Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton. I recently made dishcloths as gifts, and used it doublestranded to create trivets. Everything turned out fantastic.

This is the second time that I purchased this yarn, I would only purchase it when it’s on sale because of the size and the price. It works really well to make dish and wash cloths and it doesn’t bleed when you use it like some of the sugar and cream products do but it does shrink like they do because it is 100% cotton, that’s another reason to only buy it on sale.

I would rather use a mix cotton yarn so that it doesn’t shrink. All in all if you make your pattern a bit larger than you don’t have a problem and the yarn is great and when it’s on sale it’s perfect.

I am re-learning how to knit, after years of not knitting. My friend, who is teaching me, recommended Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton. It is very easy to work with and forgiving of my mistakes (easy to undo and re-do).

Dishcloth giver here. I crochet while watching tv. Dishcloths are practical items to have and to give. This yarn makes even the simplest stitches look interesting – really pretty. The polyester part really does give the cloth longevity, both in strength and helping to hold the color.

It is a smaller gage than some cotton yarns, so the cloth is thinner, and the stitches can stay a little bit tighter. The cloth also seems to dry a bit faster than the thicker all-cotton yarn.

Tried to love this yarn. Heart was not in it. Bernat will brainwash one from expanding one’s horizons to other brands and textures. The cotton feels great. If I was a baby, I would want someone to make me a baby blanket form the swirled Sherbert cotton.

The bamboo circular needles did not love this texture.

When I make gifts for my family and friends I try to cater to their favorite colors. I am always looking to get just the right combinations that will look great and please the recipient. Michaels usually has just what I need.

Sometimes I will have one thing in mind and Michaels will have a yarn that will totally change my mind because it is so much better to suite my purpose.

The biggest problem with this yarn it is no longer available. It works up well and is not too difficult to use. The other issue is it has a chemical smell to it that very unpleasant. It also leaves a sticky residue on my hands.

Hopefully, the manufacturer can fix these problems and bring back the yarn.

I am totally hooked on this Scrub it yarn, it is my favorite to use with knitting, crochet, and knitting looms. This is so easy to work with, and I have made many dish clothes with this yarn and they do last.

I prefer the dish clothes made from this yarn better than the store bought dish clothes. Also I can make so many different projects with this yarn. Very durable and it doesn’t tangle! Big plus, I love the colors.

Looks different than the “other” scrubby yarn. I didn’t make dishcloths but did make scrubbies with this yarn and I really did enjoy working with it and I loved the quality of the finished product. It is comparable to the cotton scrubby yarn in sturdiness but it is wider.

It is a totally different look.

I’ve been using a few different brands for most of my cotton yarn projects, but earlier this month I came across a pattern for a table runner that called for 100% mercerized cotton. After doing some research, I came across Lion Brand 24/7 yarn.

I picked the three colors I wanted and commenced my project. What a difference this yarn makes! I LOVE the way it works up! It has a springiness/stretch that is very nice and the color selections are very good.

I’m just finishing up this project and I do believe I’ll buy some more of this yarn and make matching placemats as well. Also, I’ve been wanting to make my daughter-in-law some summer tank tops and I do believe this is just the perfect cotton to use for that, as well.

I’ve found a new favorite – 24/7 will be my “go-to” choice of cotton yarn for many, many more projects. I’m very, very happy with this yarn!.

I love this particular yarn from Lion Brand. It glides very smoothly with my hook and doesn’t fray or unravel like some other similar worsted weight yarns I’ve tried. If you do a lot of doll making or amigurumis, I highly recommend this particular brand.

It comes in so many different colors, you can practically find any shade to use for any doll character.

This is such a sturdy feeling yarn that I really love using for bags and slippers! The small skein has so much more yarn than you would expect- always impressed by how many yards are in here! Not to mention that the colours are lovely!.

I really like the feel of the yarn. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that I have found knots in the cones I have used. That interrupts the flow of knitting. Also the yarn is not as strong as I would like, it can be pulled apart too easily.

I hope the finished kitchen accessories will stand up during use. The size of the yarn is a little smaller than worsed weight yarn.

Bought it to make a blanket, but this is not the right yarn for this project. Yarn feels like a string. Suitable for other projects.

Jelly Dots is a fun and versatile yarn. I’ve used this to make a spa set: crocheted basket, knitted washcloths, crocheted scrubby, tossed in a couple of candles and a bath bomb for a sweet hand made gift.

Also makes for great washcloths and drying towels for kitchen, shower gifts etc.

I Use them to make scrubby sponge. Texture of yarn is stiffer than other brands yarns But it help them to hold shape better than other brands. I mixed Red Heart yarn and other brands scrubby yarns to use making scrubby sponges.

Although I wish Red Heart brand to have more colors. I do recommend this brand. It is very beautiful yarns to make crafts.

Because of the nature of using any kind of material suited for a scrubby, it can be a little rough on your hands after working with it for a while. But I think it’s only a concern of you have sensitive hands and/or you are making a bulk amount of scrubbies like I was! Haha! And again that’s just apart of making scrubbies.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff. It holds up SUPER well under use and hides any little mistakes that there may be in your work! I use this for gifts all the time.

Just wonderful scrubby yarn! I used to buy and use the acrylic scrubby yarn (which you van no longer buy for a reasonable price) in dishcloths. It completely replaces the need for a dish brush, so we were a little cautious changing materials.

Use this to make dish scrubbies. Use them then into the washing machine when greasy so have a fresh new one every day. They last for months and when they get tatty they go into the compost bin. Brilliant yarn for making face cloths or dishcloths too.

Well worth the money and eco too as you don’t have to buy those foam washing up sponges.

This cotton yarn is such a good product if you are making dishcloths or flannel. It is difficult to work with in crochet because it is hard to see the stitches amongst all the fluffy cotton ends, but it is soft and well textured.
