Cotton yarn is most commonly used for making blankets. It is a strong and durable yarn that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Cotton yarn is also hypoallergenic, making it a good choice for people with allergies.
This is a 100% cotton yarn that is soft and supple. It is a 4-ply yarn that can be used for many crafting projects. It works as well for a sweater as it does for a dishcloth or rug, very versatile. Suggested knitting needle is size 7 and crochet hook H/8.
Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Stripes gives a wonderful striping effect on all your knit and crochet home dcor projects. Make a wide array of projects, from dishcloths to blankets, with this colorful, self-striping cotton yarn.
Conveniently machine washable and dryable, just like the original Handicrafter Cotton.
Tran seasonal and trendy, Comfy Cotton Blend is a 50% cotton, 50% polyester yarn with subtle flecks of colour against a natural base. This lightweight CYC 3 yarn is perfect for summer shawls, tops, shrugs and adorable baby gifts.
The large 200 gram convenient cake put up allows for crafters to make an entire scarf or small baby blanket with one cake and no ends to weave in! 358m (392yds) and 200g (7oz). 50% Cotton, 50% Polyester.
Machine wash & dry. 3 balls/bag. Knitting: 20 sts x 20 r on # 7 (4. 5mm). Crochet: 13 sc x 16 r on J-10 (6mm). Remember to ALWAYS check tension/gauge before beginning your project.
I have been using this yarn for wash cloths to give as gifts. The fact that it is cotton/poly blend is so much better than acrylic blend. It is really soft and easy to work with. I will agree with others that the yarn is sometimes not as twisted as other parts of the skein, and that there are sometimes more knots than seem necessary (if they are making large lots).
But overall, I LOVE this stuff! Next, I am going to make shawls for the women at the Alzheimer’s home that is nearby.
Crocheted two vests for grands. Yarn appears to have a white cotton fiber twisted with the multicolored polyester one. Came untwisted regularly. Tried knitting with it first but was too frustrating. At least with the hook I could snag the errand line.
Not pleasant feeling on one’s hands. Also, all three skeins had “lumps” and even places where just two ends had been tied in the middle of nowhere! Very annoying. Definitely would never purchase again.
Natural, soft and absorbent cotton is ideal for knitting and crocheting kitchen and bath projects. Weight Category: 4. 100% cotton. 14oz/400g, 706yd/645m. Gauge: Knit: 20st x 26r: 4in/10cm on size 7/4.
5mm needles. Crochet: 20st x 26r: 4in/10cm on size 7/4. 5mm hook. Machine wash, tumble dry, do not bleach, do not iron, do not dry clean.
Great cotton yarn makes lovely head band laurels & scarves. Love the “Woodland trail” color has blends of avocado greens, cool browns, creams & rusty orange. Could make slip dresses, shawls, dainty summer sweaters too! Laurel pattern is 12 sc, 4bpdc, 4fpdc, 4 bpdc, 4fpdc.
bpdc(back post double crochet =bpdc, front post double crochet=fpdc). Enjoy!.
A totally new type of yarn that is multipurpose and great for all four seasons! This yarn is tubular, bringing a unique look to home decor projects. Perfect for blankets and crafts. 72% cotton, 28% nylon 8.
I loved just about everything with this yarn. The colors were wonderful and it is a very easy yarn to work with. It does not have any stretch to it, so if you need stretch in your work, this would not be the right yarn to use.
I also found that because it has more defined structure than typical yarn, it also does not make the best yarn for certain stitch patterns. The Chinese Wave pattern in this yarn did not give me the clearly defined rows and stitch gaps that I was looking for.
It was beautiful even still, but just not what I wanted. So if you’re aiming for something very specific in a pattern you have already seen in another kind of yarn, best try some test runs on this yarn before investing in the full skein supply.
It is beautiful and has a lot to offer for the right pattern. This is a zero pilling and zero fuzz type of yarn too, so if that is important, you’ll have no problems here with either of those!.
Excellent yarn, easy to work with, glides through hands; but not too much slip. Has a cool touch. Love that it’s recycled cotton with enough nylon for added strength. So far have made a couple of bags and some med.
weight spring/fall brimmed hat. Flexible yet holds it’s shape well. (Can get even more structure by going down a hook size or two. ) I think this yarn would also be great for area rugs, baskets and open-weave market bags.
Well worth the price and even better when on sale or with a coupon! I hope JoAnn will keep it in stock (my store clearanced it out, as a summer item only) and Bernat continues to make this yarn, with more colors.
please!!! I have all except for black, only b/c it’s too much of a dog hair magnet for my household! But would make a great trim or a nice bag, with the Clay as an accent or vice versa. Even some of the “funky” looking color combos work up to be very attractive and eye-catching! Have rec’d lots of oooh’s & aaah’s!.
I have not had one issue with this yarn! Except to find what to make with it! I have made blankets, scarves and a pillow case with this and I need more projects! It doesn’t fall apart or fray unless the outside cover of the tubing is damaged.
It’s easy to cut the damage away and tie right back to itself though. Knots hold well that I have made. I didn’t come across many manufacture knots, which is something a lot of fellow crocheters worry about.
They do happen in all yarn, but I have not found many at all. I love the feeling of this yarn after it has gone through the wash and dry! It’s so soft and very warm!.
Cotton Fair works up into lightweight, soft, and breathable garments that are perfect for babies and adults. The tight twist on the yarn make for better stitch definition. Our beautiful palette of solids and multis are ideal for spring & summer projects.
I love this yarn! It’s a pleasure to crochet with; excellent stitch definition, lovely colors, feels good in the hands like fluffy cotton. I only wish my Michaels would carry more of it.
I love the look and feel of cotton crochet for summer wraps and tops but it can be uncomfortable to crochet with 100% cotton. I would find myself yanking and tugging on some stitches to get the hook through the rather dry texture of the yarn.
When I tried Cotton Fair I was very happy to find that the cotton and acrylic blended yarn felt softer than 100% cotton and was a pleasure to work with. My pattern was designed for a #4 yarn and a J hook.
Cotton Fair is a #2 yarn, so I just used 2 strands together with a J hook and it was just right. I got the crispness of cotton that I wanted in the look of the finished wrap, without the tugging and pulling.
This is a lovely yarn to work with and has good stitch definition. You might want to be careful, though, if you need to match a color you previously purchased, as this cream is darker than the cream i had just run out of, due to being a different dye lot.
Knit adorable baby apparel, blankets, accessories, and more with the Bernat Softie Baby Cotton Yarn. This baby yarn washes beautifully and gets softer with time. It’s made of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic for enhanced strength and comfort.
You can use this light yarn to make year-around baby sewing projects. Easy to care for, this cotton-blend yarn is machine-washable and dryable.
I was so excited to try this yarn after hearing so much about it. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the yarn and the colors. There are multiple knots throughout, and although this isn’t a dealbreaker, the balls that I purchased had no center pull that I could find (bought 10 in multiple colors for a project).
The “twists” colors were difficult to work with and I dealt with some splitting. The “twists” are fine to use in a project like a blanket, but projects that have loose ends such as tassels and pom-poms did not work because the twisted colors unraveled quite easily.
Although the yarn is advertised as “machine washable,” I dealt with some dark colors bleeding onto lighter colors, and it wasn’t quite as soft to the touch. This is a very fun yarn to work with and I enjoyed the projects I completed.
I like this yarn but there are some qualities that will keep me from purchasing again. If you decide to work with this yarn, be aware of what you might encounter.

Sirdar Cotton DK is a beautiful range of 100 cotton yarn with a lustrous mercerised appearance with colours that reflect the shades of summer. Perfect for a range of knitted or crocheted garments Sirdar Cotton DK has fantastic stitch definition which will show to advantage whether your project is a smooth summery knitted top or a lacy crocheted design.
Also suitable for knitted and crocheted toys. This cotton yarn is machine washable and requires a 4mm crochet hook or 4mm needles. Also available in a range of multi tonal shades Sirdar Cotton Prints DK.
Lovely yarn – am knitting a doorstop with it on 2. 25mm needles and it comes up as a nice firm fabric – do wonder how it’d be if knitted on 4mm for standard DK patterns, seems a little on the thin side – however! The yarn is – as I say – lovely with a nice handle for knitting and a good sheen to it.
Will have some left over and plan to try 4mm knitting and see how it comes out.
Lily Sugar ‘n Cream is known for its exceptional quality and wide range of colours. Made from 100% cotton, this yarn is amazingly smooth and cool, as well as practical as it can be machine washed and dried.
Crochet all manner of projects with great stitch definition on 5. 00mm (H) hooks to aran weight patterns.
Katia Cotton-Merino is an incredibly soft aran weight yarn that is luxury at its loveliest. This unique yarn consists of an un-dyed chainette cotton tube that is filled with super soft Merino – the wool then peeks through this chainette, creating an intriguing halo of color that lends a heathered, beautifully textured effect to the yarn.
Choose your favorite solid shade, or try one of the gradients for even more variation. With just a slight amount of fuzz, this yarn would be great for warm, cuddly accessories, sweaters, and even blankets Please note, colors 0300 and 0301 are gradients.
I normally avoid knitting with cotton yarn unless I’m making dishcloths etc, but this yarn is definitely not for dishcloths! You’d really never know that it was mostly cotton. I’m using it in conjunction with a merino yarn for beanies and it’s great.
It has just enough halo to give a nice contrasting texture as well.

I’m enjoying this yarn very much. It’s both soft and shiny and I have only had one knot in 7 skeins so far. I wish I would have noticed the hand washing only instruction before my purchase as I’m making an afghan.
I’ve read several reviews that say it washes well so I’m wondering if washing is ok but not drying. I might take a chance as the afghan I’m make is huge and if it shrinks that would be ok with me. :).
I love this cotton yarn. I made a coverlet for my bed out of it. It feels like your favorite blanket from childhood. I don’t find it to split very much, and I really enjoy working with it. This would be great for wearables or blankets.
Had been looking for this perticular color yarn for awhile. Love the color and the softness was and added bonus. I have so many things I wanted to create with it; actually started a couple of projects easy to handle it just glides through my fingers when i crochet.
Cloudborn’s Pima Cotton DK yarn features rich colors and a subtle sheen. Created from long-staple Pima cotton, this mercerized fiber creates lustrous garments, blankets, and accessories that stay soft and strong for years.
Pima Cotton DK is machine-washable and ideal for projects for everyone from babies and children on up. Love Cloudborn Pima Cotton DK?.
The color is a lovely sage green. I feel that this yarn was misrepresented. This yarn is more of a fingering weight yarn and not a DK. The suggested knitting needle on the label is 6 (4mm). I had to go down to a needle size 3 to make the yarn knit well.
As a result my knitting project is going to take a lot longer to complete. The cotton is very soft and I am concerned that the yarn will pill later, since it is beginning to pill now.
This product is sturdy yet creates a beautiful stitch. It has great color and performs well with multiple froggings and re-knits. It is soft and lightweight as it knits up but on US3’s, US4’s, and US5’s becomes very dense and heavy.
Not a stiff dense but a drapey dense, hangs very well for projects that require it. Upon first washing (advising everyone to use only cold and no fabric softener) it sheds, but can be blocked into dynamic proportions.
Overall great response from yarn, resilient, and a joy to create a wearable piece of clothing for self or a friend.

Machine washable. Inspiration in every ball of yarn Dutch brand, Scheepjes made a triumphant return to the industry in 2010 after a twenty-two year hiatus. With roots reaching far back as 1799, this is one company who certainly know a thing or two about the art of craft.
THIS IS A LOVELY YARN TO CROCHET WITH. AND THE COLOUR CHOICE IS VERY GOOD. CHOOSING COLOURS TO GO WELL TOGETHER IS EASY AND THE COLOUR CHART ON THE WEBSITE IS GOOD FOR MATCHING AND PAIRING. I FIND CROCHET WORK WITH THIS YARN IS GOOD, WHICHEVER WAY I USE IT.
ON A SMALLER HOOK, THE FEEL IS TIGHT AND HOLDS WELL. ON A LARGER HOOK, IT IS SOFT. IT WASHES WELL, I ALWAYS USE A 30 DEG. WASH AND DRYING IS EASY. WETHER USING IT FOR CLOTHING, OR AMIGURUMI TOYS, IT IS A GOOD YARN TO USE.
