20 Best Cotton Socks For Men (2023 Updated)

WOW fast!!! First let me say I’m a 100% Gold Toe fan. My first pair was a gift in 1969 when I was a ballroom dance teacher – they stayed up!!! ( and still do) I bought a dozen on a special that included monograms (would LOVE to see that again) and I STILL have two pair left and wear on special occasions.

I’ve tried others over the past 54 years but nothing stacks up. I’ve gotten almost 8 years out of some Duluth socks but with my Gold Toes every ten years I donate 10 pair and keep 2 out if the last dozen – just to see how long they’ll go.

It’s hard to tell what decade I’m wearing, these socks are that good. It’s in my will to be buried in the Monogrammed pair from 1969. It’s great fun to tell people “I’ve got socks older than you” and mean it!Recently I wanted a few new ones that are thinner than my daily wear and could not find the over the calf in retailers (I do always shop local first) but not being able to find them I ordered from ***.

com while at the sock counter (what can I say, I was peeved when the kid at the counter thought it funny I wanted OTC) yesterday at 3:20 pm. They were in my box at 10:30th is morning!!! Amazing! And of course the socks are perfect as well.

Class act all around. 5 star product unbelievable delivery. P. S. , I’m going to wear them into the store tomorrow in my tux to show the clerk how nice a real sock looks.

Normally, I wouldn’t write “durable” in a review of something I’d just purchased— how could I know how durable it was, a week or two after buying it? This time, it’s easy to write. I have pairs of these that have lasted half a dozen years or more, and are only now beginning to wear thin at heel and toe.

There are others, yet older, that are worn out, and have been stuck in the far back corner of my sock drawer. I didn’t want to toss them until I (finally) got around to buying new, which for some reason I kept putting off until now.

The socks are comfortable, soft (although not exactly “fluffy”— they’re socks, not kittens!), and long-lasting, keeping both their shape and color. They come up to mid calf, and in a variety of colors, although I tend to buy just the brown and gray socks, making matching them easier.

Recommended.

Either Gold Toe people are color blind or illiterate. I ordered 10 packs of black Fluffies. Half the packs were labeled Black and half were labeled Brown. Well, they are all actually Blue. And none of these are really “fluffy” soft like they used to be.

They are stiff and lack the soft, stretchy feel that used to make them easy to put on. These are a struggle to put on. Unless you want to be disappointed, don’t buy these. They are not like the old Fluffies.

Bought Carhartt socks for many, many , many years. I usually have at least a couple dozen in my drawer. These are not at all what they used to be. They used to be primarily cotton, good weight, and great fit.

These sucks are about 1/3 the weight, and way too tight. I mean TIGHT!. They are so tight they squeeze my toes together. I have to remove my boots and socks at lunch break simply to get some air to my toes.

They are crushed together because of my socks. They also create a very sweaty environment inside my work boots. Although I have never worn pantyhose, I have to put them on the same way my wife used to have to put on her pantyhose…pinching the super thin fabric and inching it on a little at a time.

Do NOT buy these socks if you are looking for a decent quality cotton sweat sock. I threw 2 dozen away. It is ridiculous that Carhartt makes this (in another country) and tries to pawn them off as durable cotton work socks.

Please Carhartt, charge more and make a decent sock. These suck and suck bad. Leaves rings and marks on my ankles and feet they are so TIGHT.

Been buying these Carhartt socks for years. always a fan of these socks. Always been extremely comfortable and long lasting and of Quality, usually wore them out before the would become “ quitters”….

meaning the elastic would wear out and the top would sag. The one I just order are NOT of the same quality, very , very thin feel to them , I highly doubt they will last ! Didn’t know if Carhartt using a different manufacturer or probably being made over sea now.

So much for being made in the USA ! Very thin material now…. definitely won’t hold up. Not the Quality I’ve come expect from Carhartt !.

These crew work socks are by far made with less quality than before. These were the only socks I’ve purchased for several years. I just ordered new ones and they are now they are made way thinner than before and also seems like less cotton is being used.

Far from the quality the regular Carhartt customers came to expect and enjoy for the money spent. I wont be purchasing these any more unless they go back to how they made them in past. Cutting corners to save money = loss of reliable customers.

In search of a new work sock. Reese, Ohio.

I have previously worn these socks in Size 7-12, so I was excited when I saw I could buy a larger size 13-15 online. I like these particular socks because of the cushioning on the heel, and that it’s not tight around the bridge (aka top) of the foot.

Just be aware though that because this style is non-binding, you may need to occasionally pull up the socks a bit (maybe once or twice in an 8 hour work day) For the size itself, it seems slightly large (I’m sized 13 shoes), but in the end, it just feels like a slightly taller ankle sock (not quite crew size length).

Wound up buying this product a second time despite my initial complaints. I did in fact try five other brands that make black only socks and could not find another brand of the same quality with one exception.

They need to get rid of the jockey embroidered name on the bottom of the sock. Seriously, it is uncomfortable at times and unnecessary. If you get rid of it, the socks would be perfect.

First and foremost Gobros. com were great, it’s Gold Toe I have the problem with… The socks I received are not the regular quality of gold toe I used to get. The seams in the toe are not sealed down like they used to be and they are not as comfortable as they used to be.

Socks that are size 6 to 12 do not fit a size 7 foot, I cannot imagine having a size 6 foot and trying to wear these socks. I have been buyingGold Toe for many years and I am very disappointed in their new line of socks.

And don’t waste your money on the fluffies because they’re ridiculous! I’m definitely gonna be in the market for another brand of socks.

I’m tough on socks. I should say that my foot gear is tough on socks. Duty boots, military style, 8 inch. I fell in love with the Gold Toe brand after transferring OUT of admin and INTO the patrol unit.

The run-of-the-mill, Wal Mart socks just didn’t hold up. They wore out far too quickly and provided absolutely NO comfort or padding. Gold Toe changed all of that and I’ve been hooked ever since. Retired after 28 years and still buy at least 3 pair per year.

Great for hunting boots too! I won’t buy any other brand!.

So you know the kind of guy I am talking about. He has opinions on darn near everything, including socks. They must be cotton, long enough with a good top so they don’t fall down, toe seams that aren’t “bunchy”.

His favorite brand stopped making ones he liked and when the 20 pair I bought when I found they were discontinued finally were too worn for even him to keep wearing, I was pretty hard pressed to find something.

GOBROS had these Gold Toe socks for a great price so we gave it a shot. Husband does not super love them like the old ones but he likes them enough to wear them. They are a little long on him but stay up all day, are cool, and comfortable.

Shipping was a little delayed due to COVID but GOBROS kept me informed. Good socks, great MN company!.

It’s safe to say we all expect a standard of good quality when we purchase something with the Swoosh Symbol. Unfortunately, the black socks that Nike puts their symbol on don’t live up to the expectation: I, like many others, have been buying black variations of Nike socks for the family for years.

And I’ve watched the quality continue to deteriorate. Quite certain it’s a cost thing, because it usually is. And even more certain that none of us intended to buy blueish-black socks. Which is what you’ll end with after a couple washes (even on cold cycle).

I’ve stopped buying all Nike black socks. And after trying other name brands, have found their color quality withstanding numerous warm water washes. It’s time for Nike to stop being CHEAP and find a quality source for black ink!.

Disappointed compared to my other pairs. Fit a little tighter, which I don’t prefer. Biggest issue is the top of the cuff has a ring of fabric that sticks out inside causing indented irritation. Also, the cuffs on several socks are already starting to come undone and have loose threading in several areas.

Literally washed them and wore one pair once. Not sure how long they’ll keep up :(. Grey is a little darker than they used to sell. Don’t necessarily dislike, just FYI. Like the padding, but wish it was on the whole bottom including the band.

Overall decent socks, minus the top of the cuffs.

I love my 3 pack (I got them in white, black and skin colors). They fit snuggly and never move or come off. The fabric is soft and has never caused any issues for me so far (I wore them in summer and winter).

If it’s a hot day and my feet get sweaty in these socks, they still don’t slip off. I leave them outside for a bit so they can get off before I use them the next time. I’ve washed them in my washer (in one of those zippy bags) and haven’t seen any issues there too.

I would pick these socks over and over. 💫.

These socks are not very expensive, that’s their plus. They’re supposed to fit my 11. 5 size, but are tough to put on the first time, then they stretch a little. They shrink again even if you air-dry them and become practically useless after the first wash.

They also seem to be wearing down and getting thin spots very quickly.

Purchased these on line and was disappointed in how Ralph Lauren has changed this standard sock over time. Have owned this style for years and they lasted because of thickness. This version may contain same percentage of cotton but is much thinner.

Have always like the Lauren look but the feel of their cotton items stood out. Sorry to see the company’s quality erode. This was likely my last purchase of this brand.

I keep looking for the mens Polo Ralph Lauren socks I used to buy at our local stores. They’d come in packets of 6-8, and they were great socks. All the same color, same quality. But I have a hard time finding them now.

And once again, I was a little disappointed with these socks. Don’t get me wrong. These are nice socks. I bought the larger size. And they’re definitely big socks. But after one wash, they did shrink a bit.

Nevertheless, these are good socks. They’re heavy socks, well constructed. I just hope they’ll stretch after a few more washes. But they aren’t the socks I used to get before.

Bottom line? I “tried out” Boardroom socks based on on-line reviews. I was so satisfied with them that I ordered multiple pairs and donated my existing socks. The price is reasonable and by supporting them, you are supporting American workers in an industry that has been hit hard since the ’70’s.

Be forewarned, if you wash them in hot water and dry them on high heat, you will see some shrinkage. Best to wash in cold water and low heat (or air dry if you prefer). Note to the owners. Consider alternative business appropriate designs for the work place (ie: paisley, different subtle patterns / colors).

No one is doing over the calf business designs in the US that I can find. Regarding these specific socks. You can wear them with the right suit and they DO look cool with the right jeans. Bottom line? I am an enthusiastic supporter of this company and its workers.

You might give them a “test order”. I think you will like the socks & the company. and just maybe you will become a lifetime customer.

The socks were reasonably priced and arrived quickly. However of the two pairs of socks I ordered one pair was picked from the wrong bin at their Warehouse and was incorrect. I contacted boardroom socks the day I received them and they quickly sent me out a replacement pair.

Great customer service. I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe … I will say that the socks are good fit in the foot, ankle and lower leg but are tight in the calfs for me personally and leave indentations at top of my leg above the calf (maximum midcalf circumference is 15 inches, circumference at the top of the leg below the knee 14 inches).

I contacted them asking about the possibility of customization. They responded quickly…unfortunately they don’t customize their socks. But they did say that they have one style that is wider in the calf but also larger in the foot.

So that doesn’t really work for me.

The website stated that the socks I had ordered were of “medium thickness. ” i ordered a pair, because I really needed some new socks and the old brand I had used for years had gone down in quality. The order process was super easy and the service and shipping was fast.

I was excited that the socks were made in the U. S. and was really hoping that I would like them. However, “medium thickness” was way too thin for me. The socks were reminiscent of my father’s old socks.

I wrote the company and they gave me a swift refund. They responded to my complaint, telling me why the old sock brand was different than theirs and apologized for my dissatisfaction with the product.

The customer service was first class, all the way. I will say this. If Boardroom Socks makes a thicker sock that will stay up on my leg (whether that be knee high or shorter), I will become a loyal customer.

Socks are great, my husband loves them. My purchase experience with the Orthotic Shop, not so much. I ordered three 3-packs of socks, and paid for them. Three of 3-packs equals nine pairs of socks. I received 1 3-pack of socks.

The 800 number, which I have called twice, says no one is available to take your call, and I have received no communication back. We have disputed the charge with our credit card company, and that is where we are.

Still, the socks are great. Wish we had the additional 6 pair we paid for.

These are one of the BEST socks I have ever had. And are made from mostly COTTON, which is difficult to find these days! Now I do not have heavy nor wide calves, so if you do I cannot say if they will stretch enough or not be restricting.

I do have 14-Wide feet, and the Extra-Large fits very nicely. I searched a long time to find socks that weren’t too tight on top on my fairly average size calves not to mention were still made of mostly COTTON!!! Like their name says, they do stay up too.

These boot/crew socks are a very snug fitting, medium weight boot sock. They go well up on the calf, so they protect your leg from rubbing against the inside of your boot. The first pair I tried on stayed up for the full six-plus miles I hiked, and they kept my feet warm.

The padding on the reinforced heels and toes added to the comfort. I would definitely recommend these socks.

My husband simply love his socks! They are so cushioned rather thickly. I never had paid it any attention until he mentioned last summer that no company to remembrance manufacture men’s brown ankle socks.

I looked all summer in various stores & yes, he was absolutely right. But when I saw these & surprised him with them, he was beyond the moon excited to know that he finally had a pair. The price was amazing too.

These are my go-to socks. They are soft, cushioned, and can be worn with shorts or pants. They come in a small variety of neutral type colors that work with most other clothing. Although, I wish I could still find the same socks in the ankle length version but I can’t seem to find them for sale anymore; I do have some from a prior year’s purchase.

I’ve had several different kinds of Nike socks been waring them since a kid. How long ago that was,think Jesus was a baby long. Lol jk I’m 42. I like the feel of them and they are great for low rising shoes.

But I’ve been in a hurry and grabbed a pair of the low rising socks out my drawer cause allegedly my furbabies may of stole the rest. When I put them on with boots or higher tennis shoes they ate always riding down and at the worst times.

Noone wants to touch their all day feet then st8 back to paper work or working period. Could u imagine some construction worker having to touch theirs then touch money,that you later aquire you touch, then your whole purse or boob smells like stench gross!! So I think I’ll pass on these no shoes.

I bought these for my son. They’re nice and thick and do last a long time. However, they do not come clean. It doesn’t matter how much bleach you use, if you soak them, use OxyClean or any other little trick you have to whiten whites.

these suckers do not stay white. Who wants to take off their shoes to reveal what looks like nasty, dirty socks?! I purchased these one time. After that I bought him socks from Costco that were half the price, really nice and soft and best of all they clean up.

How low can you go? Apparently, this is too low for me since I’m at the upper end (size 11) of the sock size. Almost looks like my wife’s since they are small out of the wash. But they still stretch enough to fit and I’ll wear them.

Next time I’ll get the next higher ankle cut. But that’s on me. Otherwise, nice cushion.

I like everything about these crews except that they are too tight around the calf leaving pressure marks. The tightness also makes them hard to get on. On the positive side, love the fact that these socks are very well cushioned, and have FreshIQ and X-Temp.

Maybe ankle length length would be better choice for me. I think I’ll give them a try.

Can wear in summer and in winter. Very low profile with just enough cushion to pad your foot without squeezing it. And the X-Temp does a great job of dealing with any moisture. Will buy more in the future :).

My brother typically wears white socks, mainly because it’s easy. This year I thought to add a bit of color and excitation his sock wardrobe. I order him about 6 pairs of socks, all different no two pairs alike.

My brother was over the moon excited with his gift. Honestly, I was not so sure how he was going respond. He loved his gift, he finds the socks comfortable and wash well too. Plus, he finds that the socks are a great talking piece.

I am specifically looking for something to wear during the Summer, when I don’t always want to wear knee-high compression socks. I tried two pairs of crew socks right out of the package. They fit well except the little band around the topic of the top, which still cut in a bit and was kind of itchy.

I’m going to try them again after washing them and see if they loosen up. My experience with diabetic socks like this is that they change and get softer as you wash them (until they just wear out and start getting stiff overall).

I think these would be good for some people. I hope after washing them I find them good for me.

I was so hopeful that these socks would be comfortable. However, they were just the opposite. They were actually rough feeling inside, even though they were made of cotton. I looked into the Ultra-soft women’s crew socks then because they are made of softer acrylic, but who wants words written on the top of the socks? If I go to a friend’s house and remove my shoes, the last thing I want is for my friend to see the writing on the top of my socks.

I want plain socks. So, unfortunately, I couldn’t find what I was looking for.

I have been wearing these socks for years. My only problem is that I couldn’t get them locally in a “medium” for shoe size 6-9. Your website listed these a medium (6-9) and when they arrived, they were for 6-12.

they are a bit longer than I wanted and I only ordered on line because they were specifically listed for the 6-9 shoe size. I was disappointed but it will be ok.

I don’t know how long these socks will last, as this is the first time I have purchased them. But, my last par of Georgia Giant Boots are still usable and only 5 years old. I wish everything was of such quality and I have a feeling these socks will prove of equal value.

I’ve read a few of the negative reviews and I have to agree with most of them. These socks smell weird (almost like a farm) when they are new, they also shed hair? Possibly dog hair?? Idk exactly what animal it comes from but it will gross you out.

It grossed me out so bad I left these socks on the dresser for about two weeks while trying to deside what to do with them. Return them: I hate returning items it makes me feel like less of a man so I decided to wash them really really well and air dry them for a few days.

Smell was still there just a little bit so I wasn’t sure what to do. They just sat there in the dreeser hiding from my dog who knew they where there until yesturday. Massive snow storm I grabbed my old boots, shook the old mice nest out of them and knew I needed a good pair of socks to mate with them and walla, I had an idea!! Gross boots gross socks!!! I knew there was a reason I held on to them.

I shoveled for two days in the blistering cold and these babys kept my squirrels super warm and comfy. Wow I even wore them in the house both days. I didn’t wanna take them off they where so warm and comfortable and being my first pair of wool socks I was amazed at how well they kept my feet dry and didn’t smell like feet.

I guess the antibacterial properties of wool really work. Did I mention these babys look really well made?? Yea they look really heavy duty. I bet I’ll have these things for years. Buy them 5 stars!! In a league of their own.

I originally bought some in Walmart then next year they didn’t have it. Not overly big amount of wool however it is a good combination. Socks are thick and warm and not to tight like some other socks out there.

Overall i am happy and recommend it if you need some nice worm socks.

One time you could buy them at Walmart and got three pair for seven dollars, now you only receive two pair for $30 and they’re only the gray socks with the black rings around the top not the ones where are you would get three different designs, one being one pair being a light gray that you could wear during the summertime it will not be hot to your feet.

But now they sell them on the Internet and you pay $30 for only two pair, and they’re made in China. So if you want to spend your money for something with less value than be my guest.

My granddaughter loves her Birkenstock Socks! They look great with her Birkenstock shoes, keep her feet warm during cool and cold weather! They socks fit good, are well made and last! I usually include 3 pair when I get her a new pair of the shoes.

Great quality from Birkenstock. I little more pricey than other similar socks from high street retailers but the quality and option of two sizes for women (which is unusual) are great. They wash and tumble dry perfectly too.

I love Bomba socks esp because they are a snugger fit to keep socks up and close to feet/legs to keep warmer and from sliding down into shoes/boots, but I agree that these are a bit too snug in the leg part.

I did take advise from one reviewer to snip a few of the elastics…. don’t, it will create a small hole in! Luckily I only did that on one pair! But for the money I will keep these as socks are so expensive.

Btw, I have a normal size foot and lower leg and still tight. Wish they were just a bit looser and I’d love now I just kinda like, I’d buy many more of these for the clearance price if not for that. If you notice, a good many clearance items on the Q are the lower rated ones…not all but more that than not.

I like these socks. They are a good quality. I like that there isn’t a toe seam. I also like how they donate socks. But their prices are high. My opinion is that they are most likely overpricing their socks so that they can donate some (making them look good) while still gaining a huge profit at our expense.

I believe they would still make a good profit by cutting their prices considerably. If you can afford these, they are a good/quality sock, and it is nice that you are also helping them to be able to donate to worthy causes.

They wash well. They are comfortable. They aren’t super thick or even medium-thick in my opinion. But they are thicker than the average nylon type sock. I still double-sock at times because I like my socks thicker.

I have purchased, in total, four pairs of these from Nordstrom for my partner. I initially ordered two pairs to see if the product was as good as claimed. After 7 months of wear, they still appear new, fit well, do Not fall down, haven’t yet stretched out, and are very comfortable.

He really loves these socks. Hence, I purchased two more pairs. They are of medium thickness, and have been worn throughout all seasons with comfort. He is very happy with these socks, and always choses them over all the other socks he has.

I am not sure how one evaluates a pair of socks, but I’ll give it my best shot. I have become a recent fan of Tie Bar socks. They are comfortable, not too thick and not to thin. Start your morning off on the right foot by slipping on a pair of these socks.

Suddenly, you are invincible and ready to face any challenge. When you are sitting in a long and boring meeting at work, at least you can say, “Man! These socks are really comfortable. My feet are so happy.

” When you are working on a critical project that is falling behind, you can look down at your socks and say, “Man these are nice and they have little bow ties! Hee hee. ” I’m telling you. You need to buy these socks.

Sage Green Argyle socks. After being worn and washed once, the socks had a small hole in the toe. I emailed twice. The second time I asked if they would like an opportunity to replace the socks before I posted a review.

No reply. I ordered several pair and the Sage Green are the only ones I had a problem with but lack of customer service in a competitive business is inexcusable.

Seems like the right blend of materials and weave, makes a superior cotton sock! These are the first, mainly cotton socks, that have ever been really nice to wear for longer than a few hours. Great feel on the feet.

A sort of cushiony warmth that holds up with hours of walking about, without the collapsing, clammy feel that cotton blends usually give into. Must be the the most comfortable socks I have ever worn, including quality, light wool blends.

I have now about 14 pair of them! Fall, Winter and Spring in the NW.

I own 6 pairs of these, three different colors, the fit is perfect, the wear is excellent. I wear them in the winter when it is cooler and summer when it is hot (Arizona desert trails). My feet have not been cold or hot.

My shoe size is 9. 5 – 10, I bought medium socks and they fit perfect. There are a ton of negative reviews on this sock which really is why I’m posting my review and experience. Seems there were some defective socks made or maybe sized incorrectly.

I’d try these, Specialized stands behind their products and will refund you if you get a defective pair.

A good sock, and true to size based on other brands that I own. I purchased XL and it was not as difficult to get on and off over my heel as another Specialized sock in the same size that I found to be unusable.

BUT, from the image on screen I thought I would be getting a white sock, not the light gray that arrived. It can still be used with a wide variety of kits because it is so light in color, but a better explanation in features write-up would have been appreciated.

For this reason my recommendation is qualified, and only 3 stars.

Really struggled to get these on, but once I did I loved them. Unfortunately, the next time I tried to get them on I couldn’t. I tried again later and ended up ripping it. I loved them so much I bought a bigger pair.

Again they were very hard to get on and once I did they were WAY to big. Then next time I tried to put them on again I ripped it to. There is something wrong with the design so it’s almost impossible to pull on past the heel.

Great idea, but design needs to be changed.
