20 Best Cotton Blanket For Summer (2023 Updated)

Well, it’s nice. Looks good. Super soft. It didn’t wash very well though. We have a brand new washer and drier. I followed the wash instructions to the letter. Washed it alone, no zippers or anything in the load.

And yet, when this blanket came out, it had several pulled threads across the blanket. Not many, it’s not too noticeable. Yet. But I imagine it will probably get worse with use and further laundering.

This seems to be a very common problem with Target’s cotton blankets. Bought a cheaper version of this a couple of years ago and it was wrecked after only one wash. So far, this one is ok. Finger’s crossed it doesn’t get worse.

I simply don’t get it though, I grew up with cotton blankets like this and they almost never had pulled threads. The rare pulled thread or two was on 10 year-old blankets that had been used for blanket forts, dragged around the house, stepped on, tossed in the car for long trips, hung outside to dry periodically, survived two moves, and so on.

They were lived in. One wash resulting in several snags? *sigh* (Snags on what, I don’t have a clue. ) Overall, I can recommend it but, launder with caution.

Absolutely love this blanket! Was looking for a lightweight summer blanket for our bed and stumbled across this one and purchased because of all the good reviews. I was a little disappointed when it arrived because the packaging made it look rather cheap.

I took it out and immediately washed it following the directions on the tag and the washed product was absolutely beautiful and super comfy. Breathable, lightweight and just the right amount of blanket for warm climates.

Highly recommend and I will be buying two more for my kid’s beds.

I thought I found “the perfect in-between-seasons & a perfect fall and spring blanket” but boy was I wrong. But first off let’s talk about color. I chose White. The blanket I received is labeled as white but the blanket is more of an off-white or Ivory or cream color so immediately I know I’m going to have to return it.

I felt betrayed because nobody should label something as white unless it is absolutely perfectly White, not ivory, not cream, not off-white. So curious me checked out the quality of the fabric and it was barely heavier than a low quality jersey fabric top sheet.

I cannot believe how much time I spent researching blankets only to find this particular blanket as being supposedly the perfect blanket for me. I just felt so deflated when I opened the box and saw that the color was immediately wrong, but maybe it’s just as well because the quality of the blanket is not up to snuff, and based on the quality alone, I really don’t think they should be charging what they do for such a flimsy “blanket”.

And now I have to lug it down to my car and drive all the way to Target. This is not easy for me because I am disabled. This is why I use online shopping and research the products heavily before I buy.

Target, if you’re listening, please do something about this blanket. Please change the quality to be heavier and please change the colors to be true to their names. And in the meanwhile please lower the price of this blanket due to how thin and extremely lightweight it is.

It’s barely a blanket and the “white” one that I ordered was definitely cream colored. Oh perhaps you should just remove this item all together because it is Not Worthy of Being a Target item! Thank you for listening.

I like sleeping with a nice, light blanket like this. Gives off a little warmth, but not smothering. Very comfortable, easy to make the bed with it, and looks great if you fold the comforter back to show the blanket underneath.

Be Aware: the other reviews mentioning the excess lint in the dryer are 100% right. I recommend you dry it on relateively low heat (i. e. , Delicate), and just run it on a 10-minute timer. Empty the dryer screen every 10 minutes until the blanket is dry.

Probably do this for the first 2-3 times you wash it; otherwise the lint will likely get stuck in your dryer vents. Way more than you’d think there would be.

The slightest touch creates a pull. If you pick something up off the bed and your finger accidentally grabs the blanket, it pulls the thread. After about 6 times, I gave up and returned it. Given the cost of it, it should not have done that.

I found a similar (almost exact) in Belk. Same thing happened but it was half the price since I could not use a coupon at BBB. I did, however, like the weight of the blanket for the summer.

The stitches on this blanket are beautiful. If you like texture or detail, it’s absolutely stunning. The blanket is relatively light weight and woven. I’ve folded it down at the bottom 1/3 of the bed.

Paired it with a cotton/linen duvet, faux fur throw, silk pillow cases. it looks LUSH. It was meant to be a “winter cover” (a relatively inexpensive layer between our duvet and our pets), but it’s absolutely beautiful.

Also, love that it’s 100% cotton – super low maintenance. Cold wash, low dryer. bingo.

Absolutely love these Utopia 100% cotton dobby weave blankets. Perfect for layering in the cooler weather and alone in the summer. They are exactly what I wanted; a very well made, hard to snag blanket which is constructed to last for years of use.

Much better quality than i expected. I wanted to use this for layering as it was to replace a vellux blanket. It washed up with little to no lint. The weight is perfect. It’s very cold in central Illinois at this time and I have the blanket between a flat sheet and a loose weave thermal cotton on top.

I ordered white by mistake but it is a beautiful stark white. It really isn’t too heavy but very warm.

Washed up well, very little lint, if at all. color is dark more charcoal than smoke, almost black, but still great. I wanted a cotton blanket to go above my top sheet, enough to keep my warm and this does the job just fine.

This thermal blanket is better than any of my other cotton blankets I own, so I know I’ll enjoy:).

This blanket falls apart in the first wash. I had to vacuum my washer and dryer. Made the mistake of throwing 3 towels into the load and they are now completely covered in the blanket fragments. I will need to take it all outdoors, shake out the towels, probably lint roll, and attempt to re-launder to save them.

The blanket will go in the trash. I do not know how products like this make it to market. Are they not tested? Complete waste of money.

I use this blanket as a “throw” type blanket. It’s great in the summer time, when the air conditioning makes it a little too cool in the house. Though I have not used it as such, it would be good as an additional blanket in the cold months.

I have it in gray, so it matches almost any decor. It has withstood dogs jumping on it and using it as a “nest. ” Easily cleans in the washer and dryer.

I cannot say enough good things about this blanket. It came at the perfect time just when I was needing one. It feels so soft against my skin I just love to wrap myself in it. I like to turn down the AC and wrap myself in the blanket on the couch.

I highly recommend this blanket to anybody looking for a comfortable way to keep warm, and doesn’t like being restricted by heavy cumbersome blankets.

The negative reviews for this blanket made me afraid to buy it. I took a chance, though, because I was set on using Mustard Yellow for my guest bedroom. Additionally, the cost was fair. When I got the blanket, I threw it in the washer with a 1/2 scoop of Oxi Clean powder on a delicate (cold) cycle.

I then let it air dry. I dried it entirely and then fluffed it for a few minutes in the dryer. I had no problems at all. Not even shedding, which has been a major worry for the majority of people who have bought this blanket.

I adored these blankets so much. Purchased two for guest rooms. These blankets’ quality and firmness really amazed me. Separately wash each one. Dried on racks before being placed in the dryer to finish drying and being fluffed.

They looked even better when they emerged from this process than when they were first packaged. Even though they are not light, we didn’t want very light blankets. They are flawless. The third one was just ordered.

When I first received this blanket I was so disappointed because the “mustard” color I thought I was ordering was much dingier looking in person. However, this blanket is supreme. It’s so hot where I live and this is perfect for summer! The material is not hot or heavy, and it does not cling to you like most thin/cooling blankets do.

I really like this blanket’s weight and color. I gave it four stars because of all the lint on the first wash. It covered the bottom of the washer, and I’ve never seen so much lint in the dryer. I had to empty the lint filter three times.

I’m afraid to wash it again although I’m pretty sure it would be better.

I feel the sizing is a bit off. After washing it, several loose stitches so I’m not sure how long it will last. It has a medium heaviness which is perfect for me. I bought it to go under my bedspread quilt during the colder months.

It a perfect weight for that. It will work for now but again, the quality wasn’t the best.

I purchased this blanket because the others I was looking at had bad reviews stating that they produced a lot of lint when washed – well this one does too! I had to clean a bunch of lint out of the washer and had to clear out the lint trap NINE times while it was drying.

NINE TIMES! And I’m talking a full lint trap, it was seriously a fire hazard. I’m truly hoping that all of the lint produced from washing this blanket didn’t ruin my brand new washer and dryer set.

I was nervous about buying this because of other reviews on similar products saying that they lint up so badly in the washer/dryer. Luckily I have had zero issues! I definitely wouldn’t recommend this if you have animals that are allowed on the bed.

It does snag pretty easily, and I couldn’t imagine it being around animals! I also think it is very expensive but I don’t buy blankets often. I bought it when it was 50% off so that helped a lot. Definitely wouldn’t have bought unless it was on sale.

I wanted a bed cover for the summer and thought this would fill the bill. It’s a nice blanket, the best part is that it’s 100% cotton. I didn’t measure before washing, unfortunately, or it would’ve been returned.

I washed it in cold water, dried it on the lowest possible setting on the dryer knowing cotton would shrink. It took a long time and I had to empty the dust filter numerous times. The quality is definitely not the one shown on the picture, it’s rather thin with no substance to it.

It’s not 90×90 and not square at all. Mine is 85×88, which wouldn’t make a difference if I was putting a spread over it, but that’s not what I wanted to do.

This is a beautiful blanket for spring/summer in Florida where I live. I ordered the king size and it is sized just right. Good drape down sides of bed. I purchased the gray/violet. However, it is the lightest gray on the color scale.

and I can’t see any violet at all. At first when taking it out of package ( which was packaged beautiful) I didn’t think it was gray at all. very, very light gray. So if you are looking for a medium gray.

this isn’t it. I have a gray bedroom with violet accents and I am going to keep it. really nice quality!!.

This is a very nice, high quality blanket. I like that it’s lightweight, so it’s perfect to use year round. It gives you just the right amount of warmth, so you are comfortable through the night. It fits the bed perfectly, the sizing is accurate.

It’s well made, no stray threads or pilling, the color is rich and the basket weave design is perfect for any decor. I think this will be great to use all year, especially during spring and summer when you just want a light covering to sleep under.

The blanket seems to be a good weight and quality. However, I ordered “brown” and when it arrived it was called “charcoal” and had a grayish tint. When I looked at the listing again, in some places it lists brown and other places lists charcoal.

I think the description needs updated?.

This is the perfect throw blanket! I’m tall and so is my husband but we both can fit and be comfortable without having to fight for extra room under it. I’ve washed it 2 times and it hasn’t frayed or snagged on anything.

I love the color and how soft it is.

After trying many lightweight comforters and finding them too hot for us, we decided to pair this cotton blanket with a wool blanket in the winter. This has been a great option for us. The wool locks in some warmth but is breathable, and the cotton blanket is soft and adds another layer without being too hot.

We haven’t had the blanket too long and haven’t yet washed it, so I can’t speak to durability, but so far we are enjoying it. The weave is nice and tight. My husband tried it for a couch nap and did declare it’s not super warm, so it could be a great summer option for our guests, in addition to our use as a winter bed layer for warmer climates.

The navy color is lovely – a nice bonus.

If you read through the reviews you’ll see a theme of comments that this blanket is not as soft or gossamer-like. True. Also, it snags and pulls easily. True. Super bummed to report that’s my experience as well.

I wanted to love this blanket because the color is a perfect match for my duvet cover. Unfortunately it’s not gossamery at all but more like a nicer cotten blanket. The deal breaker is that after one wash according to the directions and with the utmost care it has pulls.

How is it even possible?!? So unfortunately I will be working with The Company Store to return it as this blanket is for a guest bed and therefore will be washed often. The pulls will make it look cheap and sloppy in no time.

That’s just not ok. Dangit!!.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been paying attention to catalogs and actively searching for a classy throw for our living room. One that looks nice year round, but also is cozy for evening, curled up on couch book reading or movie watching.

This is it! It is lightweight, but warm, and all cotton. It has held up well after washing and still looks brand new. If I didn’t already have so many blankets, I’d buy more colors for our bed, and guest rooms.

I might anyway 😉 Available in several textures, too! I really love how it looks, and especially love how it feels. It’s the perfect throw.

I love the blanket! Bought the king size, and it is a generous fit on the bed. The color I picked was baby blue, and it is delicate and beautiful. The blanket came very well packaged, with a protective plastic casing.

Good enough to send directly to someone as a gift. I have not washed it yet, so I can’t comment about it. I understand it’s cotton, so some shrinking is expected. What I can say, is that the blanket looks quality.

So far I am very happy with my purchase.

I like the tight weave of this blanket which means it won’t get pulls like loose weave. It goes well with one I have. I ordered mint and love the color. The package says is 90 x 90 for queen size but after washing as instructed, it measured 83 W x 84 L.

I put it under my older blanket which is the same width but longer and it is fine. I would order again. Very east to order online and I received on the 4th day. This is a good quality blanket.

I Love the Basket Weave Cotton Blanket. Excellent quality. I have used this as my bedspread. Perfect weight. It doesn’t weigh you down and cause pain. I have fibromyalgia and it has been the best blanket or bedspread I have found in years.

Love the color of blue it is. Nothing derogatory to say about this blanket and I am very particular.

I tried to get a good close-up picture but my camera just won’t let me. I am normally a hard-to-please type of person but I LOVE THIS BLANKET. It is heavy to hold when folded, yet light and very breathable when opened up.

The texture is woven into the fabric making it feel lightweight on top of you. It is reversible which is why I really wanted to post a picture. It is light gray with off-white design on one side but is more off-white color with medium dark gray color design on the other.

This blanket has a great binding going all around the edge. I have already laundered it a few times and it washes up beautifully. I even hung it on the outside clothesline and it came out perfectly and so soft.

it is NOT see thru despite the weave texture. It’s sort of double sided feeling but apparently it isn’t – just looks that way. Right now since we are having a heat wave, I am currently using it as a couch cover for my extra long leather sofa.

We have ditched the traditional comforter and duvet on our bed. Sure they can be pretty, but we find them to be nonfunctional. As a result I went looking for some pretty blankets that we would actually use, but would still be lovely when our bed was made up.

This blanket is very pretty, so it satisfied that need right off the bat. The subtle pattern keeps it from being too plain and boring. Also, it is extremely soft and the perfect weight for layering for a cozy night’s sleep.

My one and only complaint, which is why I have this product rated as 4 instead of 5 stars, is that it seems to snag easily. So far I’ve been able to work most of the snags out, but I’m not so sure I’ll always be able to.

This blanket is great. It is lightweight and is great layered when cool outside and when used by itself in warmer weather. I ordered the king size in taupe and would call it something closer to light beige or cream.

Having a giant breed dog who also sleeps in the bed, durability is important. The blanket holds up well to my mastiff’s nightly nesting habit and goes through the washer and dryer with no problems. The price, durability, and the fact this blanket is 100% cotton makes it a great buy.

I bought this for my husband. He likes a very light blanket but needs something warm for the winter. This blanket is soft and not heavy but warm. Would work as a blanket under a comforter for winter, or a summer bedspread, too.

Washed it and kept its color, not linty at all.

Love this blanket. It fits my king sized bed perfectly. It’s a great weight and is soft. I followed the care instructions to a tee and had no issues. Washed in cold, on delicate, put in the dryer on low.

The care instructions say to move it around frequently in the dryer- so I set timer for 25 mins at a time and rearranged it and emptied the lint trap each time. It did let off lots of lint on the first time in the dryer, but I didn’t find it abnormal and it’s to be expected with 100% cotton.

I am happy with the three blankets I bought. They are a nice weight. Gave off lint when I washed. Just saying. They snag very easy and had tons of loose threads. Just hoping in future washes they don’t fall apart after I trimmed the loose threads.

Even in the summer I need to have covers on in order to sleep. Most blankets are too heavy and that is why I was interested in trying out this all season blanket. It was thin enough that I wasn’t hot even when it was almost 80 in the house but yet it kept me warm on the nights when it was under 60.

I purchased the King Size in Aqua and it covers my whole king size bed and hangs over the edges enough so that my husband and I are not fighting over covers. It is machine washable which makes it easy to keep clean and I recommend washing it before you use it for the first time.

There was no color fading or shrinkage when washed. My husband went from using two microfleece blankets to just using this one blanket. We are very happy with the quality, size, and feel of this blanket.

I bought this light weight blanket to replace the down comforter as the weather was warming up. Love the diamond pattern and the quality. Tightly woven. Even right out of the package it wasn’t wrinkled or unnecessarily creased.

I have been buying from this company for 8+ years and haven’t been disappointed.

I bought this as a summer blanket in our southern hot humid climate. I have a queen bed with a deep mattress. I bought the king size blanket and actually turned it the opposite direction to make it go longer on the length.

It fits perfectly. And the weight is perfect.

Just received this blanket and I wasn’t too impressed. First off, I had to put it outside the patio because it smelled so bad, perhaps the packaging it came in. Was very stiff when I took it out of the bag, not the softness I was hoping for at all.

After I washed it, a bit better but again, not the softness I was looking for. I didn’t want anything too heavy on my bed or extremely warm as I also use Berkshire sheet that are very warm and those alone keep me quite warm, and I don’t live in Alaska, so I don’t need many layers, just something comfortable that keeps me warm but not overly warm where I then start sweating.

The feel of this blanket is not soft and/or cozy at all, but I hope it will do the trick when I need it for the upcoming cold months. If you want something really soft and plush, I wouldn’t purchase this specific blanket.

I ordered this blanket in navy size king, online after trying to decide between a lot of similar blankets with conflicting reviews. I was prepared for lint based on reviews. And there was A LOT of lint.

I first shook it out and made it snow lint everywhere. Then laid it on the ground and used a fabric shaver on both sides before washing and drying. I had to empty the lint trap mid way through the dry cycle and it was full AGAIN when it finished.

It’s soft, fits the bed well and, between my flat sheet and quilt, it works well. It seems like the weave would pull easily but how I’m using it, I’m not concerned. For the sale price I paid, I am happy.

But it’s not perfect.

Nicely made – good weave that fills a bit after a wash. Blanket held its measurements after one washing (purchased Twin size in Ecru), although I air dried it. I think it will hold well to repeated washings.

Improvement would be a little more weight for cold weather use, and a slightly tighter weave, although it is definitely not limp or loose. Looks nice and drapes well. On the whole, a nice one for summer or humid weather use.

Walmart/Vellux delivery was excellent.

It is the perfect weight for summer in FL, great for the lightweight warmth from the air conditioning that it provides, The only thing that is odd is that is is either too long on the sides or too long on the bottom, depending on how it is on your bed.

I prefer it being longer on the bottom (so I can tuck it in) and just hanging a few inches over on the sides. I would have thought it was more square like a mattress, but it is more rectangular. If you are ok with that then this is the blanket for you.

Like I do with any new blanket, before using its laundered and this Clean Spaces Gauze 100% Cotton Blanket was no exception. Using their laundry instructions of machine washing in cold water and low heat dryer setting, the blanket came out of the laundry looking great without any loose hanging strings, unraveled hems and no pilling of any kind.

Blanket fabric is not scratchy and its pretty light weight. My young Daughter loves having me to wrap it around us while I’m rocking her to sleep and its also great for draping over my legs while I’m sitting in the recliner reading or watching TV.

Overall, this is a nice blanket to have on hand.

I love the shade of blue. It is dark, but not too dark. It has a lightness to the color that matches the lightness of the cotton fabric. It is the perfect light weight for hot summer nights when the air conditioning creates a slight chill.

The texture is soft and adds too a comforting sleep experience. The blanket is so pretty, it even looks decorative folded over at the end of the bed as a contrast to my lighter shade of pastel blue sheets.

I have been eyeing this blanket since summer and finally decided to purchased the black/Ivory combination. It’s very soft, but I was hoping for something heavier. I have it over a down duvet and decided to add another blanket underneath for additional warmth.

On the up side is it will be comfortable to use through spring by reproving other layers. I love the look and the luxurious feel.

Stunning blanket!!! The weave is fabulous, the feel is fabulous and it is perfect as a summer spread. I plan on layering it with the new rust color of the Matelasse blanket in rust with matching shams.

The best blankets I have ever owned! I purchased the throw in gray, loved the feel and style so much — could be a tad bigger, though — that I purchased the gray in queen for our guest bedroom, and blue in queen for our master bedroom, which has a beachy vibe.

We have duvets, without sheets or blanket, so we’re using the blankets as throws on the beds. The blue color is gorgeous, the oversize perfect. I thought these blankets might be too warm for summer, but I nap under the blue blanket most days, a perfect weight.

Please make the throws a little bigger, or perhaps a twin size.

I ordered this white blanket for my guest room. It’s beautifully made and better than what I expected, frankly. The weave is tighter than most cotton blankets; the cotton will breathe easier for my hot-sleeping guests.

I like it so much I’ll be ordering a king size for my bed & 2 twins for the grandkids’ room. And I love that I can machine wash! I’ll use Laundress to help keep it soft and fresh.

Adds a little warmth and weight in between seasons in SoCal. Really pretty color and super soft. I got a King size to fit my Queen bed but honestly a queen size would have sufficed. Note: If you have a cat or dog with long nails, they will ruin this blanket by pulling all the threads.
