20 Best Cost Per Page Printer (2023 Updated)

I purchased the HP 9025e to replace a HP 7520 that had finally wore out after more than 8 years of service. It was a great All-in-One printer. From a quality standpoint, the 9025e does an acceptable job of all it’s many functions although print quality isn’t as good as I had hoped.

The scanning software, “HP Smart”, is awkward because it requires an internet connection to do simple scans, plus, it is not as flexible as I had with my HP7520. It seems to me that HP tried to make the process more simple and automatic, but for experienced users it is a step backward in my opinion.

Still, scan quality is quite good. The LCD screen on the front panel is too small, making it difficult to read and very frustrating to use. But, it gets the job done. I like having two drawers to accommodate different kinds of paper or envelopes and etc.

However, I am not fond of how the “HP Smart” takes charge in order to use this and other printing functions. Lots of hoops to jump through, but, again it gets the job done. Setting up the HP+ Instant Ink account was quite time consuming and frustrating.

I like the concept and for me I believe it will be much more cost effective. After I finally got the account and everything set up, it has been working well, so long as my Internet connection is working.

You must have constant Internet Connection to use the Instant Ink program. I am well pleased with the printing speed. I just wish the print quality was better. Even on the “Best” setting, text is not as sharp and crisp as I think it should be for a printer in this price range.

And, I am using HP paper, so HP can’t blame it on my paper choice! Build quality is so-so and yet to be determined over time. The top document/scan cover is too floppy. It needs some tension springs, in my opinion, to prevent it smashing down on the document glass.

Overall, the HP9025e will serve my purposes and that’s what counts.

This printer is junk, and in no way is it a replacement for the old HP 8600. I had my 8600 for over a decade. I returned the 9025 after 48 hours. The whole new line from HP (8025, 8035, 9015, 9025) feels incredibly flimsy.

Even the new square corners look much more breakable than rounded corners of the older models. My old 8600 Pro had two interchangeable, robust paper trays, each capable of handling up to 250 sheets. The 9025 has one paper tray that takes up to 225 sheets and labeled “for plain paper only”.

The second tray says it can handle 60 sheets. It has no mechanism to hold the sheets in place, and probably works only with stiffer photo papers. Amazingly, the tray that receives printed pages does not allow then to lie flat.

The automatic document feeder says can hold 35 sheets, but looks like it would take closer to 15. (The 8600 could handle 50. ) Most astounding of all, I when began to follow the instructions for downloading the printer software and clicked on “install on my computer”, I immediately got a “not found” error from the HP web site.

When I called HP, the technician connected to my computer but was unable to install the software after AN HOUR of trying. (I am running a perfectly ordinary Windows 10 PC. ) I returned the printer the next day.

Very fast and very accurate, it handles just about everything we throw at it. Whether printing when directly connected, over my home network or even from a mobile device, the printer has been amazing.

Setup was super easy, just unbox and plug in, connect to your network with either LAN or WiFi and you’re good to go. I love the squared off, monolithic design. And this machine is big, so make sure you have enough space, especially height if you’re placing on a desk with a shelf above.

You’ll need plenty of room to raise the scanner lid. I love the paper capacity of 500 sheets, just put a full ream of paper inside and forget about needing to refill paper for a long time. We also subscribed to HP+ Instant Ink.

What a great feature to make sure you never run out of ink. You get 6 months free, and then you can tailor the program to your printing needs, based on the number of pages you print a month and what type of printing you normally do.

And you can always change the program at any time, if you find out your using too much or not enough under the current plan. And if you need to one off a set of ink, you can do that too. Set up was super easy through the HP Smart app.

Just connect the app to your device and run through the subscription process. We’ve not needed a refill of ink yet, but I’ve already been sent an update from HP that my first refill package will be arriving soon.

So nice to know that I never have to worry about what my ink levels are before I start a large printing job. When needed, HP will make sure we have ink on hand, all the time. Pros: • Super large capacity – 500 sheets in only two trays • Fast – insanely fast B/W printing even at high quality, and color printing is also super fast with pretty good color accuracy • Network connection was super simple and reconnects automatically if the network goes down, easy to print from any device throughout the house, or even on mobile • Touch screen display and menu options are wonderful, super bright and colorful and touch sensitivity is great, easy to use • Scanner is super accurate and super fast, whether using the flatbed or the document feeder • Ability to connect local network storage or connect a cloud service like Dropbox to store your print copies to the cloud Cons: • Color printing is pretty accurate, but I do wish colors were a little more vibrant • Not good as a photo printer, but that’s also not its use case really.

If you want to print dedicated photos, stick with a dedicated photo printer. Image prints are fine for school or business use, but not keepsake quality • Large, make sure you have enough space for it to operate normally • Paper catch tray does not engage automatically, its manual open only • I would have liked it to be quieter, it is fairly quiet when printing, but I was hoping for even quieter Overall, for home or small business, this printer fits the bill for sure.

We love it already and are looking to get years of use out of it, never once worrying about ink!!!.

Very easy to install to my Wi-Fi. My iPhone and iPad automatically recognized it when I printed from them. You can even scan from your phone directly to the printer no matter where you are. If you ever printed photos in a printer that doesn’t have a dedicated tray for photo papers, you know that it can be frustrating and it is prone to errors, making you waste time and money.

Fortunately, this HP Envy Inspire comes with a tray exclusive for photos that actually works and does so very well. Equally important, the pictures look professional, which is something really important to me because I take a lot of photos and I expect the best ones to look great on paper.

Text is excellent like all modern HP printers and the speed is very good for most home offices although it could be considered slow if you print a lot of work documents. What I dislike is the fact that it uses a tri-color cartridge, which is a waste of ink in my opinion.

You run out of magenta, for instance, and you have to buy another cartridge, wasting the remaining yellow and blue inks. Here are the Pros: • Easy menu on an LCD color screen • Dedicated photo tray with two-sided capabilities • Supports up to Wi-Fi generation 5 • Easy connection to mobile devices such as phones and tablets • Excellent photo and print quality • Great app features such as remote scan and print • Duplex printing, a must for many people and great to save paper.

• 6 months of Instant Ink included, which is sent to you automatically when the printer senses your running of ink And the Cons: • Only works with Original HP ink. It guarantees quality but HP ink is not cheap • Instant Ink Subscription is great and started cheap, but they just increased their price depending on your type of subscription.

It is convenient but it also optional, so you can decide whether this is a con or pro. • Tri-color ink cartridge. I prefer individual color cartdriges. • Doesn’t support the newest Wi-Fi generations 6 and 6e.

Not many homes have that yet, but it is the future of newer Wi-Fi routers. You can’t go wrong with an HP printer, and this one is no exception. Despite my complaints about their tri-color cartridge and Instant Ink subscription, which is somewhat pricey but very convenient, especially if you print a lot, its print quality is unmatched.

With this printer, my expectation was not that it could produce perfect, professional quality photo prints at its price point. I was looking at this as something my family could use to make a quick print from a phone or tablet on the go.

That’s pretty much exactly how this printer is being marketed. I have had a similar printer for several years, and lately it has started to deteriorate, but I had a baseline for comparison from when it was new.

In Terms of design, I personally like the simple, streamline, utilitarian build that doesn’t take up excess space and doesn’t have excessive “styling”. The design of the paper trays and the out-feed are well thought out.

Selecting the correct place to put various stock sizes is very easy. The out-feed support is a very simple piece that slides out easily, not at all like the complicated, clunky, noisy and now broken mechanical out-feed that was on my old printer.

Overall, though made of plastics, the printer feels solid, and there don’t appear to be unnecessary bits and pieces that can break off, dislodge or otherwise become problems. When setting up the printer I was prompted to install a mobile app, and a QR code was provided that linked my phone to the app.

After installing the app, basic setup of the printer was extremely simple, and I ran the printer through some calibration and test prints. While not silent this printer is much quieter, and also much quicker to start prints than my previous printer.

The machine doesn’t shake rattle and roll, just a couple of noises as the paper is picked up then there is just a nice smooth finish. The app on the phone seems to be pretty handy, especially considering the limited number of options that the mobile device has natively for printing.

There was a bit of learning curve to navigating some of the options to get exactly what I wanted, in particular I found changing sizes to be difficult. After running through several prints on my phone, I decided to try out printing from my windows laptop.

Normally, when I print from the laptop I simply use the built-in print utility and everything works fine. I have done this with a variety of printers. The laptop saw the printer on my network and I figured I was all good to go.

This is the first printer that I have had that forced me to download the brand specific print application so that I could change certain preferences, and unlike the phone, I found the printing process very convoluted on the laptop.

For example, when I tried to print a photo from the laptop at the highest output resolution, it would continually throw back to a lower quality when I selected the exact photo stock paper that was recommended.

This was a bit frustrating and I had to play a bit of guessing game to find which combination of paper would work for the output I wanted. In terms of print quality, I cannot complain about the sharpness of the prints as all of the high-resolution images that I printed from both my phone and laptop looked nice and crisp.

I was however disappointed with the color reproduction. This printer just seems to struggle with skin tones. Everything seems too red and over-saturated. I ran the calibration utility, and then I scanned an older photo that I had using the printer’s built in scanner.

The scan to laptop utility worked very well and the image that I saw on the laptop was a very accurate, very true to color and tone copy of the photo. When I printed it out, the skin tones were simply too red.

This seems like a very big flaw for a printed that will primarily be used to produce pictures of family and most likely people more than anything else. The printer came with a free 6-month subscription to the HP ink delivery service.

I have not had the printer long enough to say whether this service will be worth paying for later. I will say that the ink tanks on this printer are combined 3 color in one cartridge tanks, meaning that when you are out of cyan, you have to swap the whole tank.

This is something that I cam not fond of. Considering the small size of the tanks I feel like I will be blowing through ink cartridges quite quickly, though the documentation for the ink delivery program states that the tanks you will received through that service have more prints in them than the XL tanks you can purchase at retail stores.

Overall, I feel like this printer is just ok. It has some solid design and some nice capabilities (the wireless scanning is my favorite feature so far!). On the downside, it’s difficulty printing skin tones and some of the difficulty I had in the Windows environment are pretty big issues, especially considering the price point is higher than some similar printers I have owned or encountered.

I procured this printer after weeks of study. I have not made “fine art” or nature prints in a few years, due to a bad experience with an EPSON R3000 (PK/MK Issue – but due to a 3rd party warranty I received all my money back, less the $300 re-fill inks.

) The R3000 made great prints, better than the R2200 and probably better than a large format printer of 20 years ago. Now I need CD/DVD printing, some smaller prints for family, maybe gift cards, and perhaps a 13×19 now and then.

Don’t anticipate a need to make 200-year archival prints and don’t want to invest into something that requires $300+ to fill up. Historically I made a few matte prints but used Luster paper a lot. With the ET-85xx I expect to make gloss, luster and perhaps some matte/fiber papers (low expectations for matte).

Since the price of inks per mililiter for the ET-85xx is about 6x cheaper than a P700 printer, and 3. 6x cheaper than a P900 pigment printer. (Though a P900 will cost $440 for a complete refill of 10 carts.

) Some Canon offerings looked good except for smaller ink cartridges. With a lot of skepticism, I obtained the ET-8550, with its somewhat limited gamut of 4 color dye and 2 black inks. (Canon probably has the best color gamut using dyes at a reasonable price.

) Received the unit in 2 days from B&H and I set it up for wireless printing for a Mac (High Sierra and Big Sur on 2 computers) over WIFI with little fuss. I had used EPSON CD printing software before – this version is barely adequate: all my artwork is set up in Photoshop then resized and masked in the Epson Photo+ app.

I suggest full “density” and contrast in the photo to overlay, then use the transparency control to lighten it in the EP app. It’s a bit tedious to print multiple CDs, but I have had no issues yet. I first made some real test prints on some old no-name glossy paper.

The “rear (vertical) feeder” is straight forward for most such papers (60#). The horizontal rear sheet feed (“manual feed”) is needlessly complex to set up but is needed for thick papers. Keeping the manual feed paper aligned is another quirk.

Don’t forget to replace the “Paper feed unit”, completely assembled, when using other paper trays. I have used bottom front paper tray (2) for plain paper only and have not tried the small “photo paper” (1) tray.

A software setting can enable a reminder for the control panel to tell you what paper slot and paper type is currently set up, but the computer software can override this. I still try to make them similar (I’m still not sure what equates with what: Control Panel lists gloss papers as: Ultra Glossy, Premium Glossy and Glossy.

The software driver offers “Photo High Gloss Paper”, “Photo Glossy Paper”, “Photo”: So does Ultra Glossy = “Photo High Gloss Paper” ?) EPSON needs to be consistent. It appears that the 2 settings don’t have to match to print, unlike some other printers.

I obtained some Red River sample paper for this model printer. They have a wealth of ICC profiles for this. I’m not sure Photoshop CS6 (old) is doing all it needs to do here, so I proceeded with Capture One 22 (15.

4. 0). Using some metallic glossy papers, the images are astounding from the limited ink set. I’m a long way from knowing the limitations of this printer and 3rd party papers and ICC profiles or even EPSONs “signature worthy” papers.

I found a kink in a couple of one supplier’s ICC profiles with this printer and research is continuing with them. Also, some questions relating to implementation of render intent with some print drivers have also arisen (probably not a printer specific issue).

Note that Red River provides version 4 ICC profiles. many of these show gorgeous results with some of their glossy papers, printed through Capture One. I have not yet looked at ImagePrint or similar rasterizer image processors (RIPs).

Some such software is more expensive than this printer. So far, I’m more impressed than I thought possible with the measly 4 color + 1 black photo inks. I’ve made 1-2 dozen letter size glossy prints, 6-8 CDs and the tank levels have not budged since the first priming.

Looking forward to testing luster papers. I’m glad I got the extended warranty from B&H though. Squaretrade has saved me great expense in the past on EPSON hardware.

I’ve had the ET-8550 for a few weeks after waiting many months for it to become available. It produces impressive results printing documents, photos, and DVDs. But setting it up was a nightmare. The instructions about setup are scattered across several html documents with small print, lots of links, and numbered series of steps that sometimes don’t seem specific or tell exactly what to do.

There are also instructions on the printer’s little screen, some of them hard to interpret and some at odds with the printed documentation. A number of crucial terms are unfamiliar and undefined. Getting the wireless connection to my computer to work took hours of trial and error.

But that was nothing compared to the difficulties of getting the ET-8550 to print on DVDs (actually Blu-Rays, though as far as the printer is concerned, there’s no difference). I bought the ET-8550 to replace my Epson 1430, which used a separate app called “Print CD” for this function.

Since I didn’t find any instructions about how to print CDs on the ET-8550, I tried toe use “Print CD. ” Opening it led to an error message and a document that specified a series of steps that didn’t work but led to the conclusion that the AirPlay protocol built into my Mac’s OS wouldn’t work.

I took the steps of opening an Epson account so that I could connect via Epson Remote, and this ultimately led to an error message reporting that Print CD was missing a driver. I couldn’t find such a driver anywhere.

I called Epson support and over a period of three days had long sessions with about ten different service people, who mostly took the time to consult the online instructions that I had already seen and ask if I had downloaded the drivers that I had already downloaded.

They promised callbacks from technicians at higher levels, some of which happened and some of which didn’t. Finally, there was a technician who doubted that the ET-8550 could be used with the app Print CD and thought that the way to print on disks was to use a new app called “Photo Plus.

” The home page of this app in fact listed CDs as one of the eight options available, but it was the only one dimmed out. Hovering the mouse over it produced the message that it was not available with my printer (the printer’s advertisements all include the feature of CD printing).

Finally, another technician a day later suggested that I reinstall the driver and connect to the internet via a path that was neither AirPlay or Epson Connect. None of this is in any of the documentation! But it did work and the results are good.

I’m grateful for the expertise of the woman who solved the problem. The reason for my three-star rating is the appalling inadequacy of the setup instructions and technical support.

I bought this printer about a month ago (as soon as it became available in the Northeastern U. S. ) from Office Depot–not the first place you would think of for a photo printer, but at least they had it in stock.

The price went up by $100 compared to what it was last winter when I tried to order it. So much for our new period of inflation and broken supply chains. Nevertheless, I already own an Epson ET-3600 for conventional printing, two HP network laser printers and an aging Canon Pixma Pro 9000, which uses 8 inks–and they are becoming very expensive.

The Canon printer still produces superb color, but black & white is another story. I was hoping the ET-8550 would produce better B&W images, and so far I have not been disappointed. Having printed silver prints with my old Beseler 4×5 enlarger in the darkroom, I’ve found it impossible to get decent B&W prints on any inkjet printer.

Until now. The ET-8580’s output on (believe it or not) Costco’s Kirkland glossy paper rivals anything I got out of my darkroom on conventional silver paper: blacks are black and gray scale to white is perfect.

I have not yet tried matte paper, but I expect the results will be equally superb. With a minor density adjustment, I easily calibrated the ET-8550’s output to match the Canon printer, which was initially calibrated to match 4-color offset printer results and my screen.

This was an easy task compared to matching color in the darkroom–even with a darkroom color analyzer. At first, I thought the front door that opens when I print was a little silly. But I like the printer to be fully closed when in not in use.

It can’t catch dust when it’s closed. The back tray for larger paper is OK for what I do. I haven’t yet tried printing on both sides of ledger-based plain paper. This is something I would do only occasionally for print proofs.

So far, so good! I’m pleased with the printer and the accessibility of the ink storage area, compared to the side-mounted ink vessels on the ET-3600. I have scanned images from old Kodachrome slides, 6×6 cm color and B&W positives and negatives, and 4×5 and 5×7 B&W negatives, all scanned on Epson photo scanners.

The final output I get even from film more than 40 years old is amazing–easier and better than all the hours I spent in the darkroom.

Purchased HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format after 14 months with support trying to get M577, M479 printer to scale properly, fit to one page wide and interpret true type fonts of Peachtree (Sage) Accounting software pervasive database with retrieve.

HP sales and tech support said I would need to go to an inkjet product to gain the scale functions and print compatibility of prior HP OfficeJet Premium 6700 as PCL6 was not going to do the job. Received this printer to find, guess what.

the incompatible PCL6 printer drivers. Microsoft and others in the industry have confirmed the PCL6 is not backward compatible as HP STATES ON THEIR PRINTER PCL6 MARKETING. I have forwarded the information to HP.

HP has been well aware of issues of compatibility of PCL6 backward compatibility. In addition, this printer as an inkjet is built on a “completely different technology” than laser printers. However, I find the same PCL6 drivers software.

There is no scaling to less than 100% in the software driver as I was told. There is no check box to fit to one page wide as I was told. Simply put the HP OfficeJet Premium 6700 had far more functionality and compatibility than this EXPENSIVE printer.

No word from HP engineering on providing truly compatible drivers. While I believe the hardware may be okay, it is useless without intelligent print drivers with proper ESC codes to interpret for example Times New Roman.

TTF as WYSIWUG instead of printing to the default courier 10 font. The documentation for HP printers purchased in the last 15 months also indicate a lack of good technical documentation to configure these printers.

As a result I have spent more time getting to know tech support in the last months than the last 35 years. Oh— and lets not forget the legacy print drivers this system was designed for like Windows XP and MacOS El Capitan are prohibited from being detected by the HP web site.

Manually selecting them will get you only a generic driver because HP does not support them. and I can only say. how many times have I called tech support over driver issues in the last 35 years for these drivers.

ZERO. In order to recommend this printer, HP must provide proper drivers for all operating systems and must provide older print drivers which likely worked but don’t know as they are not available to test.

I say so far because I have only had it for about 2 weeks. I don’t expect any problems with it. This printer replaced the 8630 which was probably 8 to 10 years old and had over 100,000 prints / copies when it had a problem with the printhead.

Rather than spend the money on a new printhead for an old printer I decided on a new printer. I have owned HP printers for probably close to 30 years. Each one has had its little quirks but once you got around them they were all very good printers.

I always use HP inks. Learned that early on after trying inks from several other suppliers. The only problem I’ve had so far was not the fault of the printer but the recommended HP setup. Setup recommended using HP Smart for the initial setup.

Did that and installation went well including installing it on my wireless network. Problem began a few days later when I needed to print an envelope for an invoice. I use Microsoft Office and have envelopes set up in Word to print with my return address which has a color logo.

Printed the envelope and it came out upside down (flap on the bottom) and not in color. Went back in and checked all the settings and everything was set properly including envelope orientation in the printer.

Reboot computer just in case. Print a second envelope, same problem. After spending an hour and a half or more, I came across a comment in a forum that stated (paraphrased), “HP Smart doesn’t install the drivers for Microsoft Office.

For that you need to download and install the full driver from the HP site. It will also install additional drivers for scanner and fax functions. ” Downloaded and installed the full driver and envelopes printed fine without making any changes to settings.

Also got a much better app for using the scanner. (There is also a section of the app for the fax but haven’t used that yet so no comment there. ) So far, other than the driver problem, I really like this printer.

Being able to print the 11×17 format is a bonus. May never need to use it but it is nice to have that capability. PS: Small thing but if your printout tray has a stop that flips up automatically when the tray is extended and retracts when the tray is pushed in, be advised that stop pops up automatically but must be folded in manually if pushing the tray back in.

Not a big problem but if multiple people are using this printer someone is going to try to push the tray in without folding the stop manually.

I originally bought a cheaper brand wide format printer, but am returning it because it was a pice of junk to operate and a nightmare to set up. This is to replace another wide-format printer from HP that has seen its better days and got to say it was pretty easy to set up, which was a plus.

The few pages I have printed so far, including 1 poster 11 x 17, appear to be great quality. Took some figuring out how to load the 11 x 17 paper, but then again whats the internet for? Not particularly thrilled with the paper loading for 11 x 17 but if thats the worse of it, then so be it.

Touchscreen is too small but you can manage. This sucker weighs a ton, so be prepared when lifting. Find a spot and leave it there, otherwise too heavy to keep moving around. All the manufacturers are getting stricter about remanufactured cartridges, so I guess its best to stick with HP brand, Take a chance if you want to but you’ll find out you own a set of cartridges that you may not be able to use.

HP ink is not cheap, but then again all the manufacturers are getting up there. All in all a pretty nice printer in the lower price printer ranges but have had good luck with them before, so hope I don’t jinx it!!.

This is the perfect replacement for a printer I had that failed. It lacks a few features that would have been important if had been focused more on a business use but this is perfect for my needs. The setup was super fast.

Connecting my older printers with my network took a bit of time, but this printer does it all automatically. I particularly love the app for mobile devices that allow me to link to the printer from my phone or tablet.

The print quality is superb and relatively fast. The copying and scanning also work as advertised and are very snappy. I haven’t used the FAX mode since I have a VOIP connection for my phone and I have had luck with any printer being able to work with that and there is also no phone jack convenient to where the printer is located.

The LCD is bright enough to read but the panel buttons are really too dim to read in low light and the button markings are fairly low contrast against the almost white case but I just installed a motion activated LED under cabinet light above the printer and that works perfectly and gives me the needed light for other things in the cabinet.

The much larger ink cartridges are especially nice and the ability to buy them separately instead of an entire color set is a real cost savings. If you are the typical home user, this is probably the perfect all-in-one device for you and will more than meet all of your needs.

For small office or greater use, you might want to move up a level or two. The bottom line is, this meets all of my needs and I really love it. I won’t mention the other brand that I had but I replaced the first printer that failed after about 4 years with an identical model that also failed after about 4-5 years.

The price for that model/brand was almost twice the cost and the only other function it offered above the Brother all-in-one was the ability to do two sided scans from the batch feed.

In use now for about a month this has been a reliable printer and copier. I haven’t used the scanner yet and who faxes anything these days? That leads to my first irritation, the default function is to fax.

Really? Why isn’t the default to copy which sure seems to me to be the most common function that would need a button. And therein is irritation number two: The function labels are printed between the buttons instead of next to them (and the icons ON the buttons are not intuitive) this means every time I want to copy have to count down to verify that the label refers to the button below and not to the button above — and of course the most commonly used button – copy – is the third one down.

Why isn’t it the first button? I guess a button for printing might be needed for some unknown reason but isn’t most printing initiated from a device and not from the printer itself? And finally the most irritating of all: The assigned password is ridiculously difficult to enter from the almost impossible to use keyboard with duplicated symbols and difficult to figure out cursor movement.

The password: 8 characters, numbers and upper and lower case never repeating in sequence so that the keyboard must change from numbers to special characters to upper case to lower case FOR EACH CHARACTER!!! To add to the pain my password used right and left pointing arrows that ALSO appear with the movement keys.

You have to enter that cursed password to update the software. We aren’t talking SS numbers and bank accounts here. We are talking about a home printer. It was so difficult to enter that I gave up on it altogether during set up as well as giving up on changing it to something in the range of human possibility not knowing it was going to be required for updates.

Just try to figure out how to change it later! I looked through every single menu and couldn’t find how to do that. I am also disappointed that 2 sided copying is so cumbersome. It can only be done from the platen in a two step process that requires you to lift the cover, flip the page and then close the cover again.

At that point the actual printing begins. You cannot use the document feeder for two sided copying. On the other hand two sided printing is very nice and that is the default for printing. In use for only one month it is premature for me to comment on the ink usage other than that I have not encountered any difficulties so far.

I will say that the default density is so pale as to be be barely satisfactory – perhaps that is how Brother can market almost a year before needing ink. Higher density printing is also much slower. Overall this printer does the job and I suppose I will get used to the poorly thought out features.

I’m keeping the printer.

Completely assembled in the box. Doesnt include everything you need to make it work; no printer cable or Cat5 cable. Had fight with the initial setup; running a brand new 2021 Alienware laptop with AMD Rizen chip.

The “user friendly” auto setup software had errors and could not determine a repair. Ended up doing manual set up to get connected to the laptop with the USB printer cable. Then attempted to get the printer on the wifi with more problems so had to manually configure that as well; actually worked easier with a samsung phone to connect than the laptop.

Additional to the lack of automatic software installation, when running the installation software (totally online by the way so if you have poor or no internet, youre out of luck), the buttons graphics totally dissappear or warp and you have no idea what each button does.

I found repeatedly scrolling over the areas will occasionally bring the words to reappear so you can figure out what does what. Once you get all the software installed it works quickly while attached with a usb.

there is a major delay between the devices if you queue a job over wifi. It gives an error on the laptop but will process the job and the error will go away. Scanning is tricky to figure out. Be sure to use quality paper.

Wife bought 15lb “injet paper” and it is just too thin. printer eats it like old cassette tapes (if youre old enough to remember them). Use 20lb paper at a minimum. Also the avery business card pre-perforated card stock is glossy-ish on one side; it doesnt like that at all.

It wont feed properly and the ink wont dry on the side labeled as back. And only run ONE sheet at a time or it will get offset on 2nd & 3rd sheets and 4th will jam. Also it is a very fast printer which can and does cause paper jams.

Although the paper jams are annoying, they are easy to clear. Once we get some 20lb paper, will see how it reacts. Pros: the cartridges are very large and so far nearly same price as the cartridges of other printers that are way smaller.

Its not terribly heavy and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

I just bought my second 8620. I buy this printer for one reason: it can use the cheap offbrand 281 cartridges. A refill of genuine Canon cartridges costs as much as $70. Offbrand cartridges cost as little as $5 for 5 cartridges.

Note to Canon: the minute you close this loophole, our relationship is over! I installed the Canon software on my laptop and it worked fine for printing and scanning. Not so for my android phone and ipad.

No matter. As long as they are on the same wireless network as the printer, you’re fine. You don’t really need special software to print. I only need a basic printer and scanner and was happy with my previous basic plastic concrete block.

This printer is rather more complex and has a lot more features than a basic printer, some of which I really like. Cool features: document feeder for copying and scanning, rear feed for small photos and envelopes, automatic duplex printing.

Negative features: the control panel has to flip out in order to print, bottom paper tray is unnecessarily complex. There’s a little plastic partial cover for the paper tray that has to be removed to put the paper in and snapped back on before you shove the tray back in.

I can totally see this getting lost or broken, and it prevents me from just shoving single sheets of paper into the tray without having to pull out the tray, take the little plastic lid off, put the paper in, snap the little plastic lid back on, shove the tray back, and confirm the paper type.

Features I don’t use and care nothing about: the fax, the Canon Image Garden. In summation: it’s a nice, if slightly fussy, printer and has the potential to save a ton on ink.

I tried out this printer after my previous Brother printer finally gave up the ghost after 11 years of use. I should have realized the problems right out of the box when the download link for the installer software fails to download anything.

The executable attempts to download files, but fails with a vague error message. This unit worked fine as a printer attached to my PC for about a month or 2. Then, would no longer print anything. It failed to recognize data being sent to it.

Replacing the USB cable did no good. In fact, I used the same cable I used on my old Brother and the replacement for this unit just fine, so it wasn’t a USB cable or port issue. I ended up replacing this with another Brother unit which is working fine after about a month.

I gave this Canon to my mother for use a copier. As a copier, this unit is more than adequate for the job. I can’t really say it works well as a scanner for PC because the one time I tested this function with VueScan, if you changed to any DPI beyond the default, you received scrambled scans.

This is probably a bug in VueScan, but since I didn’t test it beyond this, I can’t say for sure. I didn’t buy this Canon for its scanner capabilities, but for copier and printer ones. Bottom line is I can’t recommend this unit for anything other than making copies.

If you want a good printer or scanner, look elsewhere. Go for a Brother. I should have when making my rounds for a replacement for my 11 year old Brother. The local Office Depot store didn’t have any when I found this Canon; I eventually just ordered a Brother from OfficeDepot.

Pros: Good color printing of photos for a 5 ink printer, rear tray for special papers and envelopes Cons: Just about everything else Replaced a 922 6 year old printer with this TR8620. One would think that the new machine would at least have the same basic features, but this machine is a step backwards.

Examples include: Duplex scanning is not true duplex, but requires taking the source after it has been scanned on one side and reinserting it in the tray so the other side is scanned and the software will place the second scanning in the right place if you did it correctly.

The 922 scanned both sides automatically; The rear tray is great for specialty papers, but the set up for the papers is very complex and requires many steps. Previous printers I had with this feature were much simpler to use; The machine feels flimsy ; Adding paper to the low capacity bottom tray involves moving moving the front cover and then replacing it plus the tray has a cover for the back of the tray that is just one more step that my other printers did not have; I wish I could like this printer, but it is truly a poorly designed machine that is a step back in many ways from my prior Canon printers in this price range.

I use Canon for my photography and thought the printer would be of comparable quality, but Canon went cheap on us.

IšverstiShow in original languageIf you plan only to print–and do little else–this is a very competent device. Speed and clarity of text printing is good (I haven’t printed pictures, so I can’t evaluate that).

And setup was pretty straightforward for printing. BUT–this is a multi-function device, and you’ve paid for a multi-function device, so all of the functions should work equally as well. They do not.

1. Copying: copies of text are quite good. However, it is literally decades since I’ve had a printer that produces copies in reverse order. If you frequently want to put more than 2-3 pages into the document feeder, you’ll find it really irritating to re-sort and put the copies in order before stapling–and really annoying if you forget to do so before stapling.

Also, I don’t know the last time I’ve had a printer at home or at work that requires the pages to be placed face down rather than up. I guess eventually I’ll get used to this but in the meantime (two months in), I keep messing up from force of long habit.

2. Fax: Yes it faxes, but there’s no automatic way to know that it’s done so! No message on the screen that the fax has been sent successfully, no automatic printing of a fax report, AND no way to set the machine to do these things.

Each time you’ve tried to fax, you’ll need to hit several buttons to reach the print fax-report button. Which means that you have to go through that process each time just to find out that someone’s fax didn’t pick up, or that their line was out of order or.

That’s absurd. This is bad enough that I’m actually thinking of getting rid of the machine and buying an HP again. 3. Scan: I found it very tricky to find the setup that would allow me to use the machine’s touchpad to initiate scans.

And no matter what, it refuses to produce my scans as PDFs, only as JPGs that I then have to convert to PDF. Scan to OCR? Forget it. That’s after following the instructions in the manual, searching the Brother site for further instructions and following them to a T.

Nothing doing. All in all–I started out writing this review having given the machine 3 stars, but as I wrote, I realized that the only thing I’m satisfied with is printing, and that what I’ve written is a 2-star report.

So that’s what I’ve wound up giving it. If you rarely fax or scan or copy multi-page documents, you’ll be happy with the printer.

The use of the product is a bit more complicated and some of the options are hard to find, but it does do what it is supposed to do and the printing seems to be good.

We were diappointed that it took about half the ink in the starter cartridge to load the inner tanks. You would think they could afford to give a standard or XL cartridge so the new owners don’t feel like they are going to run out of ink so soon! Received the printer with the wrong black cartridge, which was quickly remedied by Brother support.

When we tried to connect the USB and CAT cables we were surprised: there was no wired connection and the USB port was about 8-10 inches inside the printer underneath the scanning platform via a wave shaped indentation in the lower body.

Some thicker USB cables might have trouble fitting in?.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased the Brother MFC-J995DW Printer after much research. One of the reasons I chose this printer was that it monitors the ink cartridge capacities and allows you to order before you run out.

It saves you from having to wait for a depleted cartridge to be ordered and wait for the shipment. The general everyday printing is excellent. I like the fact it is also wireless allowing me to print from my phone, iPad and laptop easily.

I’ve not experienced any jamming or other issues. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the quality of photo printing is not all that great. But for everyday document or office printing, it has been flawless.

Almost a Perfect Printer. The OfficeJet 9015e is replacing one of the best printers I have owned, the Canon MX922. The HP 9015e prints and scans much faster than Canon MX922. I can confirm the following features which made me stick with it despite having to return it to the store today for a replacement unit.

It does auto duplex printing and scanning so I don’t have to manually flip the paper when using this printer which makes scanning bills into searchable PDF docs a breeze. The HP 9015e has a great feature where you can setup a shortcut directly on the printer so you can send your scans to your OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

, accounts without the need of your computer. You can also scan documents for digital faxes without needing a landline. If you don’t want to participate in the HP Ink program, simply buy your own ink instead of using the subscription ink that comes with the printer because the provided ink will be deactivated when you stop using the HP Ink program.

I signed up for the 700 pages a program for 6 mo. free and they already sent 2 ink refills to ensure I have enough ink at home despite not printing that much. If you don’t print 700 pages, it rolls over to the next month.

I plan to roll it back down to the $. 99 or $4. 99 a mo. level since I don’t print that much (15-100 pgs. mo. ). Just know that HP will deactivate the ink if it detects you are using their subscription ink after cancelling the subscription so have your own ink if you still want to print.

The Printer sounds like it will break at any moment, and I guess it did because I took it back when scanning to OneDrive produced an error message only when scanning from the Printer after it comes out of sleep mode.

It worked after I cleared the error message but didn’t have that problem when using the same shortcut from my laptop or phone. While I can’t print directly to DVDs like the MX922 or place regular paper and 4×6 photo paper in the printer at the same time, the easy of printing directly from my iPhone/Android devices, laptops, and scanning directly from the printer to cloud or networked storage devices makes this almost a perfect printer.

Hope the printer works out, and yes, I contacted HP same day tech support twice which was nice since they have 7 day a week support using chat or phone support.

The printer has been good so far, though on rare occasion it seems to slip trying to grab a sheet of paper. But that has only happened twice right at the beginning and since then it has not been an issue.

The bigger issue is that HP does not tell you that in order to use all of the features you paid for, you need to connect your computer to their servers with an HP account. That means that every single time you print, you are sending analytic data to HP for their marketing department to use.

If they offered a discount for ink, or a rebate, or even just some money for that, then I would say that was fine. You could make a choice how much this invasion of your privacy is worth to you. But in this case, you really do not have an option.

If you want to use a few of the basic functions of your printer (like scanning) you HAVE to create an account and you HAVE to connect to it to scan. This is called “HP Smart” and it is not optional. I am extremely annoyed by this REQUIRED invasion of my privacy.

I was able to find a workaround by using the built in features of MacOS to scan and print – but I lose out on some of the more advanced features the HP software provides. And none of this is advertised when you purchase the printer.

They sell you on all the cool features, but don’t easily disclose that you have to connect to their servers for every print or scan to take advantage of these features. I am keeping the printer because it is too big of a hassle to return and I found a workaround for basic scanning and printing built in to my OS.

But I will never buy another HP product and cannot recommend this printer to anyone else.

I returned the HP 9015e printer immediately as it did not come close to fitting my needs. It is my opinion the whole HP+ line of printers is garbage mainly because of their software. First of all, I am a long time HP Printer user and have liked them previously.

My current HP printer broke after 12 years so I didn’t think twice to go pickup a new HP printer. I was wrong in thinking things would be the same, after all it is just a printer, right!? 1. Quality is nowhere near my decades old printer.

Plastics aren’t as good, seams don’t align as nicely and ink cartridges do not slide in easily nor do they provide positive feed-back that they are even seated correctly. The paper tray and paper catcher just seemed clunky and cheap to me as well.

2. Setup is a joke. The setup assistant can’t add printers to a different WIFI SSID then from computer running the setup. Ever hear of having printers and computers on separate networks? So you have to add it manually from the printer itself and the keyboard layout is most silly thing I have seen and has no QWERTY layout.

Once you tackle that the 6 months free ink is a joke as well because it is dependent on entering your credit card and signing up for some subscription service (which you can cancel at anytime) so they can start charging you after 6 months is up.

3. The printer does not like name changes or changing to static IP. I had to factory reset and start over because it messes up registration with HP and their Smart App. 4. Printer REQUIRES internet so you can print.

If you need to print from outside your home, sure, maybe you need this feature. Or maybe you have VPN and can connect privately that way. Or maybe you just want to print to your own printer in your private home on your private network, nope, you still need internet access.

Of course, HP will say, just use usb cable or WIFI Direct feature which are silly responses. There is NO need for REQUIRING internet access to print. The only purpose this services is so HP can monitor your usage and sell your data.

Or they’ll say they need to monitor ink levels. Again silly, my 12 year old HP printer told me when ink was low just fine without needing an internet connection. 5. The only thing they did right, was the plastic bag the printer comes in.

It has handles built-in so you can easily lift the printer out of the box. In short, loved the plastic bag it came in, everything else is garbage. I went with a different brand entirely and couldn’t be happier.

It didn’t have the cool plastic bag but all the other issues where a non-issue.

I bought this printer 13 months ago. I just started a small business and use it primarily for printing out black and white documents and color documents every once in a while. I used to have an hp desk jet 15 years ago that lived to be 10+ years so I felt confident buying this brand.

Big mistake, as with most companies that date back everything has turned subscription based. I am not a fan of their cartridge program because I do not like the fact that hp has access to the documents I print (highly sensitive).

I declined this feature for security and left me with the inability to get help when my printer was having issues. Another big issue with this printer is the cost of the cartridge if you aren’t involved in their program.

The printer really doesn’t print that much for each cartridge and it would have been cheaper to go to a fedex and print there. The bluetooth portion of the printer has been a complete joke. Each time I want to print, none of my devices can see the printer’s bluetooth.

I have to go the printer restart it completely and then restart my device each time. Not really sure the bluetooth is working properly. I also have a Macbook and apparently hp is not compatible so you can’t get into any settings without downloading their app.

But even the app cannot pick up on the bluetooth. The worst part about this printer is that in this 13th month of having this printer, it started taking 10 mins to print each page. I went to customer service but because I am now a month out of my 1 year warranty I don’t qualify for any customer assistance other than their virtual assistant which only answers up to 4 questions.

I would have expected better support. With all that said, I buying a new printer (different brand) and going to destroy this one ‘Office Space’ style before I have an aneurysm.

When my HP 5640 gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years of reliable service, I needed to replace it with a printer of similar quality whose cost would not break my piggy bank. I found this printer, the price was right, and it had several features my now departed printer did not have (such as scan and copy).

When I received it, I was surprised by how lightweight it was. But setting it up was a snap (directions included for doing so were clear and easy to follow). Inserting the ink cartridges was a new experience since they required being “snapped” into place instead of closing a spring-loaded cover.

However, when I loaded it up with paper (the feeder is substantially smaller than what I was used to with my previous printer), turned it on, and then had my laptop print its first page to it, I was satisfied with the result.

I was pleased to see that I could also “print” to a PDF format instead of paper, if I chose that option. This printer also has the capability of using a Wi-Fi connection via a router using Bluetooth protocols), and that means more than one device can use it from anywhere within range PLUS one can use a cellphone or tablet (with Wi-Fi capability) to print out a document to it.

I did not try that option, so I do not know how well it works. But the best featureis that the printer can order additional ink cartridges when it senses they are getting low–provided you set that option up with HP when you register the printer AND as long as you leave the Wi-Fi connection open.

I also tried the scan and copy functions, and they worked quite well. However, both those functions work only with standard paper, so things like framed photos and the like cannot be done. All in all, this printer will serve my needs AND the ink cartridges are substantially less expensive than they were for my previous printer (like about a third the cost), so that definitely makes up for any “inconveniences” there may be with this printer–as in paper loading is not quite as simple as loading a tray and the receiving tray does not extend out long enough to properly hold the printed sheets without them slipping off onto the floor.

Also there is no reverse print option, so printing out a series of pages that are meant to be in order will need to be reversed by hand. And while the software accommodates two-sided printing, that must be done one at a time by hand (while the printer waits for you to flip the sheet and then it in the paper tray a second time) as each side is ready to be printed.

I will also be interested to see how long the ink cartridges last compared to what I used before. However, the two supplied “beginner” cartridges (that supposedly held much less ink than the “regular” ones I will need to buy did provide me with two good weeks of printing, or about 150 pages total.

The regular cartridges claim to produce at least double that. The unique aspect was that the software needed to run the printer had to be downloaded from a dedicated website and not from a disk, but once installed it identified my printer and all worked well.

It includes features like choosing specific pages to print (helpful when you only need certain pages–like from a multi-paged digital document), adjusting margins, adjusting print quality (draft, normal, best) and resolution (up to 1200 dpi), and having access to a wide variety of paper sizes Including envelopes, index cards, etc.

I found the printer even worked well with label sheets and photo paper, but I doubt that anything thicker or stiffer than that would not be handled by this printer. So if you’re looking for a printer that can handle relatively light printing demands from home uses, then this one is perfect.

If you are looking for something to handle the level of a typical office’s output, then I would suggest looking for a different model. But either way, I can say that HP is a brand I totally trust for reliability.

I bought this printer thinking it would have the basics for an older couple with an up to date Windows 10 PC I was helping who do not have WiFi, but just wired internet. All printers I have ever bought have either worked by just plugging it in by USB, or by downloading a driver from the official website.

I went through the HP Smart App Prompts several times, and the printer was “Setup” and “Ready”, but all I could do was print test pages from the app. I even tried setting it up through Windows Printers/Scanners List, but still would have issues.

In all other applications like Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Word, the print jobs would get stuck in queue and go no where. As an IT, I tried several ways to get it working with printing from other apps, but it would not work.

Removing the printer, then re-setting it up. There was no way this older couple I was helping was going to figure this out if I was having a hay day with it. I like the printer, and it printed clearly, that part is great.

it just doesn’t support Windows 10 PCs from my knowledge, and nothing on the HP website I tried worked, and so I ran out of drivers/programs from their website to try. I have used the HP Envy 5070, and the HP Envy 7855 that use the very same HP Smart App as this 3755.

Those work, amazingly, almost to the point that you can plug and play. So the issues with 3755 was baffling. I went ahead an returned it, as it won’t work with Windows 10 computers it seems. If you are looking for a decent printer, look for a higher number of model than 3755 and spend the extra money.

I bought this printer, at great expense, to replace a printer for my home office. One of the reasons I bought it was the guarantee of ink for 2 years included with the purchase as well as the direct access to print from the iPhones our family uses.

I had a printer in the home office which worked just fine but had some accessibility issues and there was no guidance to reset to factory settings. Long story and not germane to this review so won’t go into details.

Anyway, the old printer always had a “good” or “excellent” signal from the wireless router I have. My laptop and desktop computer in the home office have an excellent signal from the wireless router as well.

This printer had either no signal or “weak” signal most of the time during set up and even now despite being placed in the exact spot as the old printer. Getting this printer connected to my network has been challenging due to the lack of signal.

It took, literally, several days to get it to connect and function. There is the occasional “good” signal from time to time but not constant. Updating the printer is nearly impossible due to signal issues and maintaining a connection is questionable at best.

I am not sure what type of wireless receiver this printer has but, unless you are remarkably close to your router, I would avoid this printer. As stated earlier, the old printer and all my other equipment have a good to excellent signal so the issue is with this printer.

Further, the printer is painfully slow when printing large documents. I printed a 17 page document shortly after finally getting the printer connected and it took several minutes. The old printer, which I still have and may return to, would have printed the same document in less than one minute.

For the price, despite the 2 year ink promotion, this printer is not satisfactory. The print quality is fine. I have not tried to print pictures yet so cannot speak to the quality of those. I may have to just use this as a backup and buy another printer which actually works per specifications.

In my experience, this one has not lived up to the promises in the description and specs.

A year and a half into owning one of these; definitely among the best printers I’ve owned- the touchscreen is user-friendly, the overall user experience is well designed, with excellent error resolution for wrong paper and jams- no headaches! I’m honestly shocked by the durability.

It’s mostly plastic and being an inkjet, I was expecting 50k pages out of this max even with the price tag. However, I just today passed 100,000 pages printed and it has pretty much no issues to speak of.

All my previous budget laser printers developed significant print quality issues by this point! The only letdown for me is that the absorbent pads for borderless printing are a non-user-serviceable part, and ‘wear out’ after a certain point, requiring the printer to be shipped off if you want to continue using that function after some time.

Full disclosure: my first ET-16650 broke after about two months, with some unresolveable error. Epson support were surprisingly good (it was necessary to call, not just e-mail), and shipped me a printer in exchange immediately.

I nearly forgot to mention that since the experience was good. The ink bottle system is absolutely nothing to worry about. Spills are uncommon and the ink is easily dissolved in isopropyl alcohol for cleanup.

I honestly got way messier cleaning toner drums than this! The cost per page is outstanding. Epson’s marketing lives up to what it promises, even if you are coming from what you consider to be an already economical printer.

Plus, with the rebate I send the used bottles back to Epson. 100,000 pages in ink bottles takes up a small box, not a pallet of spent toner cartridges! The print quality is also remarkably good for an inkjet.

I used the now-discontinued ET-15550 for a few years and the ‘high’ quality on that is the ‘standard’ on this at something like 4x the print speed. The tabloid scanner is great; I’ve even used the standalone copying/scanning functionality in some cases, even though I prefer to use separate software on the computer (VueScan) for maximum control.

I’ve archived public domain sheet music on it, as it can fit the old 9″ x 12″ size, with very good results. Most important tips: before a print run, do the Print Quality Adjustment process (in Maintenance).

Take your time and do it right, and your docs will come out looking great. The values do shift over time. Also, if printing double-sided, use thicker paper, like 24 or 28 lb. , and reduce the print density by 20-30%.

This will reduce bleed and distortions on the paper which might cause jams or smearing, while also saving ink.

This is the best inkjet printer that Epson makes for the money. You can’t go wrong with this printer. The text is sharp, and the copies print fast. I have owned 12 inkjet printers and I have learned two things to keep them printing.

First, print several copies every day to keep the nozzles from drying up. Second, since this is an EcoTank printer, keep the ink above the lowest level to prevent air from getting into the print head.

Printers that have inkjet cartridges get air into the system every time you have to add a new cartridge causing print problems and that is one of the reasons one has to clean the print heads. I have also owned the Epson ET-5880 but had to return it after 10 months after a failed firmware update.

The machine failed to turn off and back on after the update. This was also an excellent printer but not available when I needed a new printer. While waiting on availability for the ET-5880 or ET-5850, I purchased the ET-4850.

For $250. 00 more one can have the ET-5850 which is far superior to the ET-4850. The ET-5850 and ET-5880 come with 8 bottles of ink and the ET-4850 has only 4 bottles. The print on the ET-4850 is light and the LCD screen is much smaller compared to the ET-5850 or ET-5880.

I have the ET-5850 and the ET-4850 setup as network printers so everyone in our house can print to them anytime from any device. Just make sure you download and install the drivers for the printers before you connect via Wi-Fi, USB cable, or Ethernet cable.

After you get your printer setup and printing do yourself a favor and order a replacement ink maintenance box. The number of copies you get before you have to replace the box depends on how you use your printer.

Every time you turn the machine off and on and clean the print heads you waste ink, and ink is dumped into the ink maintenance box. So, do yourself a favor print every day and leave your printer on.

I have been buying HP LaserJet printers since Series II -amazing workhorse. Unfortunately, a lot has changed in the industry due planned obsolescence strategy, etc. The average HP Color LaserJet Pro 300 and 400 Series design and quality has been a steady decline, each the device last less than the previous model and each was a higher model and more expensive! The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP479fdw is without question the worst Multi-Function device conceived by HP product engineers.

1. Touchscreen control panel: Not intuitive, Confusing, Annoying and Frustrating, easy for someone to accidentally reconfigure. 2. Touchscreen control panel: Poorly designed, and placed, users unable to scan a book due to screen being placed against scanning surface.

So far so good after 3 weeks & extensive research on a variety of printers. A HUGE plus was the Store Sales Representative & General Manager at my local Staples store who offered exceptional assistance helping me to properly evaluate all of my options and allowing me to purchase this printer with confidence ultimately spending twice as much as I intended but very pleased with my decision.

The initial Set-up was fairly simple with a few hiccups connecting to the network but all good now. I have encountered a few issues (unable to select between print in draft/normal/best modes) using software but can select them on printer using USB file access.

A little frustrating but have been able to figure out a few workarounds. Print quality is exceptional in both text & photos or pictures using plain paper thus far. No issues at all concerning Wifi connections as other printers seem to experience.

I have rated the printer 5 stars but in reality due to the software issue I described above, I would have rated it 4. 5 stars (unable to do so in review options) since HP should have resolved the issue since the product introduction back in 2018.

Cost of toner is also a big concern, especially for color but I print mostly in black/white and in ink saver mode (15% reduction), which helps to save ink and is better than draft unless it is for a document being sent to out to others.

Overall a great product and great staff at Staples. very pleased so far!.

Bought this for my wife’s small business office and just finished setting it up. I’ve bought and set up a lot of printers over the years and, admittedly, many of them have become very simple to set up.

But this ET-5850 is the simplest I’ve ever come across. I was fascinated and honestly a bit nervous about the EcoTank concept. The idea of dumping pigment into the printer felt like a potentially messy undertaking.

But trust me on this: They’ve really thought it through, engineered it well, and made it just stupid easy. The pigment bottle nozzles are keyed to where you can’t accidentally put the wrong color in the wrong tank.

There was no dripping or spilling, and it honestly looked like you would have to really make a conscious effort to do either. The nozzles fit nice and snugly, and when you have them seated all the way then they begin transferring their contents into the tank.

It doesn’t feel like they could have made this work any better or easier than they did. I say all that because that was the part I was most hesitant about when ordering this printer – and now I know it’s just a non-factor.

The rest of the setup was just as easy. I think I was in for about 45 minutes from cutting the tape on the Epson box to mission accomplished, everything works and printing and scanning both tested from my wife’s laptop.

Also, I know some of the reviewers felt like the physical size of the 5850 was large. I’m the other way. I expected it to much larger and was impressed by its relatively compact footprint considering it is intended for small business use.

FWIW: I paid full price for this thing. I wasn’t given anything in exchange for my review. And I don’t even know anybody who works for Epson or any related company that might have an interest in a positive review.

Just wanted to share my great experience with this product so far.

Originally purchased the ET-5150 for our office but found it too slow, especially for double sided printing. It also was supposed to be auto duplex, but found out a few days after purchase that it would not do 2 sided original to 2 sided copy without you manually putting the original in the scanner glass and flipping it.

What a pain! Fortunately the place we purchased realized their description on this printer was inaccurate and accepted our return. Anyhow, the ET-5850 does all that automatically, is MUCH faster, has a larger and much easier to read LCD display, holds more ink, etc.

We don’t really need the double paper tray but it has it. A few other things we like are: -the paper holder tray for printed pages will pop out automatically if it’s closed and you print or copy. handy feature -the borderless printing is also a bonus.

never thought about that but recently needed to print a few photos of documents our guys took in the field, and it printed borderless. much easier than it auto sizing it and shrinking the photo -It comes with a lot of ink, although the ink reservoirs are much larger than the 5150 so makes sense.

I like that Epson will give you free ink for 2 years with these ET printers. Great bonus to bring the cost down and add more value to the purchase. Don’t really need scanning or faxing so can’t comment on those features.

Overall, if you can afford this printer, highly recommend it over the smaller ET-5150. One thing to mention is it was nearly impossible to find this printer in stock. I ended up finding it at a local Office Depot as their website said it was unavailable for shipping.

I purchased for in store pickup (it said in stock) and an hour later received a cancellation of the order. I called the local store and they said, yes we have this and we have it set aside with your name on it.

They told me to place the order online again, which I did but then received another cancellation. Again spoke to the store and the manager assured me they had the printer set aside for me. I had to drive a 3 1/2 hour round trip to pick it up.

I also had to purchase in store due to the online in-store pickup purchase issue mentioned.

Off the bat, setup was maybe a total of 35 minutes from the time I started unboxing it. After that great start, I also found The Epson ET-2800 printer easy to use. The quality of the printing has been perfect for my business and personal use.

I work from home (graphic design) so this comes in especially handy for me because sub-par quality is not an option for my customers and they were not disappointed. I’ll cover that more a little later on the review.

Another amazing feature, and in some ways the best one of all is the ET-2800 comes with more than enough ink so re-ordering toner as frequently as I normally do is one less thing I will have to worry about.

Loading the ink tanks was easy and without any hassle. You can load paper into the ET-2800 via the front tray, rear paper feed or automatic feeder. The wireless capability made it so I could use it from any device in the house which is super convenient for schoolwork, my business, or just for fun.

There are even voice-activated commands that both me and my daughter got a kick out of, not to mention it makes it extra convenient when I need an extra set of hands that aren’t available. The ET-2800 features a small colored screen that makes faxing, scanning, and settings adjustments a breeze.

The print quality is top of the line. Accurate colors, no smudges, and clear as can be. You’d think that a machine with all of these capabilities would take up a ton of space, but it doesn’t. It fits right next to my desktop in my home office and takes up even less space than my other inkjet printer that held far less ink and wasn’t as productive as this machine.

I highly recommend this for home use, especially if you work from home. This is a review for the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I wanted a printer that allows me to print checks and envelopes, as well as photos and note cards. I have been reviewing printers for over a month and really had my heart set on same brand, but the higher up version because this one doesn’t do auto two-sided printing.

But, did I want to pay more for that feature? Thankfully, I have access to a b&w laser printer that does auto two-sided printing and I don’t print a lot of documents anyways. This printer saved me money, was in stock, and was discounted on sale.

The other advantage over other brands is the ink tanks. I got the printer home, unpacked it and plugged it in, added the ink which was super, super easy plus there is still a tad bit of ink in the bottles and the lids lock tight for storing.

Setting up the printer via the app on the phone was spot-on, too. It is guided and it is done through what looks like a chat window, helping you through the steps with diagrams. I honestly didn’t have to access the screen on the printer, except to confirm paper size.

I would have preferred tray loading of stock paper, envelopes, etc. but instead, all paper is fed through the back. After working with the printer on. a few prints, I realized that this is better than paper trays for my purpose.

I printed a few envelopes and they printed beautifully. The only exception is if you have only one envelope in the feeder, then it can smudge a little on the leading edge. Solution is to always have more than one envelope, even if you print just one.

Loading was intuitive, too. With other printers, I have problems trying to determine orientation of envelopes and checks. With this printer, it was so intuitive that I got it right the first time and confident.

I won’t have issues in the future! After I printed envelopes, I decided to print a check. I only loaded one check and got it right. The quality came out really well and no smudges. Totally professional.

I did print some documents and they looked stunning, too. The speed is “ok” and for my needs, it works out just fine. Setting the printer up on the Mac was so easy. It found the printer and with a minute, was able to print a test document wirelessly.

I can check on ink levels, etc. Even though the printer is advertised in various ways that this doesn’t have auto two-sided printing, I am giving it four stars. I feel that if Epson really cares about the environment, that they would not make a printer that wasn’t auto two-sided printer.

Not saying they don’t care… but it isn’t representative in the product you are making. Save on ink and plastics, yes… but paper and trees. it’s on me to manually flip to save the trees and bees! I also gave it four stars because there are too many variations of the same printer and it adds complexity to deciding which model works for me.

Each has their pros and cons and if they narrowed their product line down to less models, maybe they would have more in stock? I do really like the screen on the printer. The whole screen and buttons are on a panel that flips up so you can look at it from above rather than squatting in front of the printer.

Love it! The printer does sometimes doesn’t print until I interact with the printer if the paper size changes. Not a big deal… I click OK and confirm yes/no via the up or down arrows and it starts printing correctly.

I went with Epson because of the ink technology and seems that they have a solid line of printers. The printers that has the ink tank technology does cost more, but it looks like refilling will be cheaper than the cartridges.

I would recommend this for the home or home office. Using the printer on a daily basis would not be an issue with this one. If you print two sided a lot, you may want to look for a higher-up model or do what I have… a secondary b&w laser printer.

Epson is a good brand. They are putting a lot of focus on ensuring that they have a quality app, instructions, setup, and features on various price levels.

Hands down, this is the best printer I have ever used. Not only does it do everything – print, batch scan and copy via top feeder or single sheet scan and copy, and fax (just in case the 90s come back) – but it does all of these things incredibly well.

First of all, this printer is FAST. Way faster than a laser printer, and the ink comes out bone dry too. No waiting for a print job, and no waiting for ink to dry. The ink doesn’t run or smudge when you highlight or run a finger across it.

Print quality is spectacular, even on the lowest quality print setting. The resolution of the prints in both black and white and color prints is top notch. The details are all reproduced with clarity and accuracy, and the same goes for color.

Straight lines are straight and there’s deviation from what you see on the screen. Another great feature many other printers lack, is the ability to use the top feeder for batch copy making, just like you would with a giant copy machine and just as fast if not faster.

Oh, and did I mention it does duplex copies too? Because it does! Ink cartridges last a really long time, and the off-brand replacements are both affordable and equally as effective. This is another huge plus since most printers these days are trying to rob you blind with the ink refills.

Not the case here. The printer has a very small footprint for how much it does, and doesn’t look too bad sitting on the desk either which always a nice bonus. Multiple paper feeder trays allow maximum versatility and efficiency.

This printer will print up to 8. 5″ x 14″ paper sizes.

I have owned an older version of this same model for 15 years, and I’m hoping this one last as long. The old one still functions, but it’s so old that I can’t connect it to my current computer. Hence this purchase.

The printer functions perfectly. Print quality is great. It’s fast an efficient. The small size and portability are the most important features for me, and it delivers on both. It was easy to set up and connected to my wifi easily and quickly.

I tried printing from my mobile. It worked, but it’s going to take some tries to get it to work correctly. I don’t foresee myself printing from my mobile often, so I’m not concerned that it’s not perfection from the start.

Overall I like this printer and would recommend it to anyone looking for something small and efficient.

I had an earlier version of this when I traveled for business years ago when we had internet but GPS devices were still not common to print maps while I was on the road and loved it. This newer version is no exception.

If you have a larger laptop bag or backpack this will fit to take with you but also has some good home uses too. Most devices are easy to set up but this has instructions that I found to be very cleverly setup.

Scan the QR code or navigate to the set up page and there you will see step by step by step videos. For each section there are two levels, an over view for folks familiar with these things and with a click you get more in depth help.

Perfect for the person that can get to the internet but set up is intimidating. Print from phone is not only supported but super easy to set up too. Which leads me to who might consider purchasing this device.

With more an more people using their phone or tablet for online orders some people don’t have a computer. This is a great option because our need to print reams of documents at home is essentially a thing of the past.

Taking up such a small space this is the perfect solution for the occasional return shipping label, grocery list, or a quick print of the granddaughter or nephew’s latest achievement for the fridge. The ink comes in very easy to install cartridges – bare in mind that the color cartridge is a single unit with all 3 colors.

For space reasons, this is necessary but again if you have a high capacity need a larger non portable printer with individual ink for CMY is probably a better solution. Print quality and speed are very good.

I printed several documents on plain and photo paper and the results were excellent (taking into consideration photos on plan paper will only be so, so even on a higher end device) Personally I will use this as a second printer in my sewing room where, again, I sometimes need to print something now and again and am too lazy to go to my home office.

I would consider this for the parent, or grand parent that has that occasional need to print and doesn’t want a gargantuan device cluttering up their space. If you are looking for a small printer for travel or any other reason I can highly recommend this for both the computer savvy and not so savvy customers.

Canon Pixma TR150 is almost one-of-a-kind printer. If you are a business person who travels a lot, and you need to print on location, there are not too many choices you can choose from. This is one of them, and the other one is made by another manufacturer – both have been around for years.

Each company upgrades its perspective printers and this one is the latest from Canon. By chance, the previous model’s color was silver – this one has been upgraded to all-black. (The other brand, too, if I may say so.

) Setting up a printer is not for the faint of heart – but Canon makes it very easy. If you have a smartphone and a barcode reader (a program), even on the box of the printer you can watch videos on how to do this.

The printer comes with a CD disc which pretty much only has a tiny program that leads you to its website (the barcode would’ve brought you here, as well. ) All you need to do is choose the right model of the printer and if you cannot do that, perhaps someone else should be setting up this printer for you instead.

It would download the driver for your operating system – but before that, the video will walk you through the actual set up of the printer – inserting the printheads, and the inks themselves. At this stage, you must pay absolute attention because while the printer appears to be very well made, the printhead mechanism looks fragile and can be easily broken if you do not follow the directions explicitly.

First – the printheads go in – one for color – and one for black ink. Then you insert the ink cartridges. They are pretty much foolproof because one will not fit the other – but do not forget to remove the tape that protects the head and the plastic cover that protects the inks.

The printer will take a few minutes (and you follow the instructions on the little LCD screen) and you have the opportunity to print a test print (at this time, it will align the heads). Then the next step is to actually connect the printer to your computer.

I did mine wirelessly through the home’s router – and it was beyond easy. I did not even have to set up (or choose which wireless signal the printer should connect to), it shows the strongest one which was pretty much three feet away from the printer and it was the correct choice.

You can of course connect the printer to your computer through the USB port. I tried that with one of the desktop, and it worked fine, as well. The next step was to actually print something. Typical Windows printer’s driver will allow you to choose “high quality” versus default quality.

I printed a paragraph of text, and I drew a box and filled it with rainbow colors (I used CorelDRAW) – it looked totally acceptable to me and it printed quite fast. The paper shot out of the printer (there is no tray to catch it), but you can of course feet blank pages on the top and it will hold a handful.

This printer does not do duplex (printing on both sides) but you can do so manually. The driver will guide you to flip the paper over. It really is a handsome printer and small enough that if I were a student, I would take this to the library along with my laptop.

There is an optional USD99 battery (rechargeable) that will make the printer work without being plugged in, and it’s supposed alas a few hundred pages. (I don’t have one test it. ) Its competitor (name not mentioned) comes with one, so you know.

But if you want to use this printer remotely (on the go) is probably best to connect it via the USB port. There is a way to connect to the computer directly without the router. I feel that if I really have to use this printer on the go, I don’t see any problem bringing a USB cable.

(It doesn’t come with one, but nowadays it costs a little. ) I play with the printer quite a bit printing various things. Then I thought what would happen if I were to use generic ink. Brand-name cannot inks aren’t cheap – none of them are.

The replacement that comes with two Blacks, and one color is almost USD50. I tried generic inks, that cause only three dollars apiece. It installed without any problem and the printer recognized it. And I continue to do test prints, and it continued to work and a little LCD screen was able to tell me the level of the ink.

I even printed some photos on color photo paper (by Canon), and it worked fine, too. That could be the option of those who want to save some money – and who hasn’t tried aftermarket inks on their printers – let’s be honest here.

Pros: Well-made, handsome and small printer that you can take with you. Canon makes it very easy to get it going by providing excellent instructions on installing the hardware and the software. Cons: Optional rechargeable battery is a hundred dollars and it doesn’t come with it.

Let’s be realistic here – if they include that, it will increase the value of this printer so much. Lastly, just like any manufactures – the ink cartridges are not inexpensive. It is a pity that this printer is not their Megatank (which has continuous ink tanks) but I realize for printer that can be carried around, the ink can leak all over the place.

Fortunately, the generic inks that I have tried worked without any problem. Summary: Beyond useful for those that need to print on the go. Even without the optional battery, unless you have to print in your car, you could plug it in somewhere (i.

e. in your hotel or at the library). For students at college, they charge you by the page and it is more convenient to print on the go. If you do print a lot, then invest in their Megatank – but if you are away from your room, this is close to perfect.

I understand there are only two manufactures that make portable printers that can print like this – so you know, the other one’s ink cartridges is connected to the printhead, so it costs even more to replace.

I’ve bought many ink-jet printers over the years, and they all have the same flaw – The original printer is affordable, but then the ink cartridges do not last long at all, and end up costing many more times than the original printer after a short time.

Even worse, color ink-jets end up using ALL the colors when printing black-and-white, so even if you are careful about what you print, you still use all the ink. So I have been looking for a tank-based printer that also had copier/scanner built in.

I liked the price of this model, and the printout quality has been fine. It has worked well with both my PC and Mac, though you do need to download the software from Epson to take full advantage of the printer’s features.

The main difference between this model and the next more-expensive model is that one has a touch-screen for the printer display, and this one doesn’t. A touch-screen would be nice, but it wasn’t worth the extra expense to me.

Pros: Comes with lots of ink (and extra refills for black). I’ve been printing many pages in color with no regard for ink, and I have lots of all colors left. I know that with all the printing I’ve done so far, I would have used up all the cartridges from my previous Epson WF-2660, but visually from the tank, it doesn’t look like I’ve used much ink yet.

Also, it doesn’t take near as long to spin up for printing as my Canon tank printer. Cons: Printing is VERY LOUD. Scans from automatic document feeder are a little skewed (consistently rotated 5-10 degrees) I use a wired ethernet connection, and have not tried the Wi-fi for more than a couple minutes, so I can’t evaluate Wi-fi performance.

The printer is not bad, I think still bit overpriced even with the discount. , but this what you get when you don’t have to buy ink cartridges all the time. The ink tanks are pretty big probably 3 times bigger than standard cartridge.

The print quality is decent for the price range. The scanner is on slower side, I would compare to my sub 100. 00 Epson printer, the top feeder works but you can go make a coffee if you have more than 5 pages.

The display is not touch screen which on 350. 00 printer is bit disappointing. Brother got them beat on this. If you print several times a week the printer is for you, big ink tanks and the price of the ink bottles is not bad.

You will also have to purchase ink waste basket from time to time, it is around 10. 00 which will not break the bank.

I really like this little printer. I had an HP inkjet that bit the dust and needed a new printer. I mostly will be using this printer to print envelopes (because my laser jet melts windowed envelopes).

This printer was super easy to set up and filling the ink tanks was twice as easy. Just tip the ink bottles onto the the tank nozzle and the ink fills the wells. No gloves necessary because there was absolutely no mess.

The print quality is what I expected for an ink jet, good but not laser quality. I really like that I no longer have to purchase those stupid expensive little ink cartridges. The printer has a very small foot print so it will be super easy for me to take to our annual convention, where the laser jet is bulky and heavy.

There I will be doing all kinds of printing and I feel positive this printer will handle what I throw at it. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs to do a bunch of printing and isn’t looking for laser quality.

I saw a post complaining about the print quality, not so. It prints better than my old HP ink jet printer. I am so impressed with this printer that a friend of mine was looking for an ink jet but was sick of buying the expensive cartridges.

She bought the Epson ET-3760 based on my experience. I’m sure she will be as pleased as I am.

So far, so good! I have terrible luck with printers and they just don’t seem to last. This one replaced another Canon PIXMA that I was never able to get connected wirelessly and would constantly give me errors that it wasn’t connected or offline.

So, understandably I was a little hesitant to get another Canon. This one had decent reviews which were on par with or better than the others I was looking at, and since it was on sale for a fantastic price, I thought I’d give it a shot.

I’m so glad I did! Setup was a breeze, and this is the first printer that I’ve had that not only easily connected wirelessly, but has stayed connected. Even adding my smartphone to wirelessly print was a piece of cake.

This printer practically set itself up every step of the way. It does everything it said it would do and is easily meeting my needs. So far I’m extremely happy.

Very slow learning curve but now I can print the photos and Hallmark greeting cards I want to. Had to ignore the Hallmark setup and Canon driver selections. Just feed from the rear tray and tell it to print duplex on regular paper even though you have 65lb card stock.

It has been telling me I am low on ink for a month so I ignore that until it runs out. I have not figured out how to save separate settings for photos, cards, and reg. print so that has been frustrating to constantly reset the driver.

Luckily, I only use this a couple times a month.

This Canon printer works just fine for me. The set-up was pretty much straight forward. Put it on my network and connected two computers and two smart phones to it and we can print from any one of them, effortlessly.

This printer replaced an HP printer that would just look for reasons to not let you print anything. Every time I went to use the HP it was offline and it would take 40 minutes of trouble shooting get it to print.

I am SO done with HP. This Canon seems to be the answer to my problems. Only time will tell. 5 days in, I’m happy with the Canon.

IšverstiShow in original languageI tried to setup this printer on my Wifi network per the included instructions, which refer you to the app. The app found my printer but couldn’t find my 2. 4 network, though no other devices have problems including my phone when not using the app.

I then went through the included troubleshooting documentation which was useless because the printer wouldn’t connect with WPS. I don’t entirely blame that on the printer as I’ve had that problem with other devices.

My final attempt was to use the included DVD and physically connect via USB. At that point it couldn’t find the printer over USB, but it gave me an option to put a link on my desktop to configure at a later time.

Once I clicked on that, the Wifi setup was easy enough and I was able to disconnect the USB. It should not have been that hard. I assume that I may have been able to find the software on the DVD online, but none of the setup instructions reference a place to download other than the app.

If that isnt available to download and you dont have an optical drive, you wouldn’t be able to setup the Wifi on the printer.

This one is very good. Others may be better for your needs. I don’t know, I’m not your Dad. Or maybe I am. This printer has a nice small form factor and prints quickly and accurately. It has wifi. I don’t know how well it works because I am a barbarian from the wasteland and I have it plugged into my PC tower via USB.

It does not have any fancy features like double-sided printing, nor does it have a scanner built in. For me, I like this because I feel like there is less to go wrong. My only gripe (and it’s not necessarily specific to this printer) is that while a laser printer cartridge definitely is a better value per page printed than any inkjet, it’s still not as good as I would have hoped.

The cartridges are also large and not easy to dispose of/recycle easily.

IšverstiShow in original languageNice small compact black and white laser printer. You give up features like a scanner and automatic duplex printing for the smaller size. Wireless printing also handy for placing it anywhere in your house/office/dorm.

It is also capable of duplex printing manually. Just select double sided print, and the printer will print out paper on one side. Then transfer the printed out sheets back to the input tray and press a button on the printer and it will pick up the printed sheets to print on the other side.

While nice, would be annoying if you need to consistently need duplex printing and you would look for another model with automatic duplex print. This printer is great if you only need to occasionally need basic functionality to print out documents and don’t need a scanner/fax/copier and you have limited space.

The automatic document feeder garbage and isn’t worth the extra cost. It’s very slow, and very finicky. The slightest crease on the leading edge will cause it to jam. It frequently pulls through multiple pages, especially if it’s thin paper, so that you absolutely cannot be sure that all your pages have been scanned; you’ll spend time double checking.

On top of all that, it only scans one side of the page. If you have 2-sided pages, you’ll have to flip the stack and rerun it. I knew that going in and only wanted the ADF to handle small jobs at my desk, but given the above, it can’t.

Printing and single page scanning/copying work perfectly. If that’s all you want, save your money and buy the 2760.

The printer arrived before the promised delivery date. It was well packaged and easy to unpack and install. This is the second printer of this model that my Husband has installed. The first printer was installed in a matter of an hour or so, and this included signing up for the Instant Ink service.

The HP OfficeJet 8020e was selected for use as a network COLOR printer, and for use as a networked scanner – to be used by our families multiple Windows and Linux computer systems. This printer was purchased to replace a 6-year old ENVY 5530 all-in-one printer, that became totally non-functional after a multiple hour “debugging” session with HP Support technicians.

Prior to the support call, the ENVY 5530 could print, but its scanner suddenly stopped working. It has been used as a low-volume copier/printer, and to scan original documents for storage or transmission.

After the multi-hour support call, the ENVY 5530 printer is now a dead paper-weight, and now will not print or scan. The first HP8020E that my Husband installed only required a 5-minute installation of the required print driver for Windows, and it was instantly available for use as a network printer by our Windows and Linux computer systems.

The new HP 8020E, however, REQUIRES that you install HP SMART PRINT on a Windows system, before you can even sign up for the Instant Ink service. We experienced difficulties in (1) the installation of Smart Print, (2) updating HP’s Support Assistant, and (3) attempting to add the new printer to our existing Instant Ink account.

My guess is that some folks may have had trouble in the past either installing the appropriate Windows printer driver, or maybe they had difficulty in using printer’s built-in Web Server for any of its fancier functions, such as scanning from a networked computer.

And the “fix” by HP appears to have been to require the use of the HP Support Assistant and/or the HP Smart Printer application. The Smart Print application, however, kept confusing the previous ENVY 5530 printer with the HP OfficeJet 8020E printer and so kept claiming that the “proper” driver –was– installed, but the app (Win10 program) could not communicate with the newer HP 8020E printer – and the app suggested that we call HP Support for assistance.

After several different phone calls, and hard to hear conversations, the problems were finally resolved. As soon as the necessary changes were made to our Instant Ink account, the printer was fully operational from all of our computing devices.

Would I purchase this printer again? YES! The printer works flawlessly and does everything we needed.

First of all, I want to say that I purchased this printer after reading a ton of positive reviews and based on my great experience with my old OfficeJet printer that lasted for years and always provided excellent quality prints and scans.

I was 100% confident in my purchase of this product, now I wish I had never bought it. I have had nothing but problems from the day I got it home. I did not want to connect to my wi-fi (and I have excellent wi-fi speed with boosters all over my home that were professionally installed by my carrier).

Then, it didn’t want to connect to my Dell computer. After many HP support chats, I finally got the thing set up, but it won’t stay connected to my laptop. I’m constantly having to run the HP Smart Troubleshoot and repair it to get it to reconnect to my computer.

I’m replacing the ink for the first time, using a generic ink from a brand that I have always used and trust well. I just put the new ink cartridges in the printer gave me an error message “Cartridges Rejected”, “The indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or cloned”, “HP+ Printers require Original HP cartridges.

Replace the non-original cartridges to continue printing”!!!! Now, if you don’t mind all of this, this print quality is good, and the scan quality is good. I haven’t had any trouble with paper jams either.

Mechanically, it’s a well-built printer and worth the money. That is if you want to spend all of your money on overpriced ink and all of your time fighting to constantly reconnect it to your non-HP computer! So for Value, I’m rating this a 1 because they expect you to spend all of your money on HP supplies, including the computer that you connect it to.

Quality, I’ll rate it a 4 because when you are able to print or scan, the quality that you would expect from an OfficeJet is there, but I’m very disappointed with the time that I have to spend to get it to produce.

For Ease of use, I would rate it a 0 if I could. Would I recommend this product, as I stated, only if you have a newer HP computer and are willing to spend the money on HP supplies, including paper.

I bought this a couple months ago with the intent of using it for both personal and work use, as I work from home. The initial set up process was okay, as I bought this printer with the full intent of using the HP+ and Instant Ink services, so I knew I’d need it connected to wifi and all that.

However, the HASSLE that came with also trying to get the printer connected via USB to my work computer which utilizes a VPN rendering the wireless connection unable to be used – was ridiculous. You would think the printer would be able to be connected to a computer and work the same way printers always have worked, but it still needed the wireless connection for set up which was interfering with my ability to use it.

Long story short there, through a lot of work with my work IT guys, we figured out how to simultaneously have it connected wirelessly to my personal computer while also connected through USB to my work computer and both options work to print and scan.

It was a seemingly unnecessarily long, complicated process to get to that point in the first place though. What’s troubling me now is that sometimes the printer just wants to refuse or takes forever to print something, especially if it has been a little while since I used it.

It will sit and make all kinds of annoying LOUD noises like it’s *going to* print, but never actually prints anything until you cancel (which also takes forever) and restart the printer. This is what I’m talking about when I say when it works it’s great.

When it is seamlessly printing, the quality is good. I like to print pictures on letter paper and the print and color quality for those are nice. The HP+ or HP smart whatever app on my computer has nice features and I enjoy the Instant Ink service a great deal as well.

It’s just the hassles that this printer sometimes has to just go through the simple task of printing that drives me insane.
