20 Best Cooler For Ryzen 1700X (2023 Updated)

I decided to buy my Vetroo CPU cooler on a whim to replace the stock Intel cooler that came with my motherboard. The cooler itself was well packaged and contained all the required screws, clips and nice supply of aftermarket thermal paste for the CPU.

I was pleasantly surprised that the cooler also had a second set of clips for an additional fan on the other side of the heat sink. Pros: – Fast and easy to install. Took about 15 minutes to put together.

– Works great and is on par with heat sinks that cost twice as much in thermal dissipation – RGB lighting hooks up with your existing setup Cons: – Not the best instructions; it is not in-depth about the details like reminding the user to remove the adhesive off the bottom of the cpu backplate or how to set up the lighting.

Highly recommend you know how to install coolers like this before you start.

I am so happy I found this Tower Cooler and the company Vetroo. This cooler outperforms my CoolerMaster Hyper 212X and actually blows it out of the water!!! I have my i5-3570K at 4. 9-5. 0ghz overclock and it was running hot at 85c and wailing like a banshee when at full load so I thought I would take a chance on this Cooler after reading and watching some good reviews.

Even with just one push fan it now runs in the 70s and never gets over 75c! The Vetroo costs half of what the Hyper 212X costs so I would say that’s a definite win for Vetroo! Even if your not on a budget this Tower Cooler is a great option for Overclockers or High TDP CPUs that your having trouble keeping cool with your stock cooler, talking to you Intel and Dell! The fan that it comes with is also pretty impressive, really good CFM and the ARGB is awesome looking and not cheap LEDs like other budget branded fans.

Big. this thing is big but works very quiet and efficiently. Directions were hazy at best, especially detailing the clips that hold the fan to the heatsink assembly, and the manner in which the base plates have to be facing to get the perfect alignment was lacking.

I would suggest you leave the protective cover on the actual heatsink base while you ensure the plates are correctly aligned and the screws match the mobo. After that the actual install is straightforward.

Excellent performance for the price class. Quiet operation, and keeps my 10700K around 80C on an all-core [email protected] load up to a HWInfo64-reported package power of 140W in a Fractal Define Compact with the included thermal compound (which is pretty thick).

Installation is reasonably straightforward, though positioning the tension bar is a bit finicky. On the upside, the extra-long screwdriver bequiet! provides to drive the hidden screw is much nicer than one has any right to expect.

Pretty large for a 120mm cooler, presumably because they had to make bigger fins to make up the fins sacrificed in the quest for lower noise. Clips are included for an exhaust fan, though it’s possible not all setups will fit one.

I haven’t tested with a second fan. Overall I really like it, but the slightly-wonky mounting system and optimistic (IMO) 190W rating keep it at four stars instead of five. It would definitely earn 4 1/2 if half-stars were an option.

for the Price point this is a good budget cpu cooler cons the fins in this particular model are not stacks densely compered to some other cooler model, so it get easily bent if you are not careful during the mounting process this however doesnt affect the cooling performance because the individuall fins are substantially bigger Pros with sparsely fin stacks, a speciall fan blade to achive high amount of static pressure, is not requiered.

The fan, that comes with the cooler, is sufficient enough to do the job an it is very quiet – like the name suggest be queit! Tips do not mount the fan before the motherboard is seated in the case, because the fins are so big, you can easily running out of space for a cable management if you mount the cooler on the motherboard, before the MoBo seated in the case.

First seat the cable especially the 4+4 pin 8 pin CPU cable usually on the top left of the motherboard and other fanrgb cable then you can mount the cooler on the motherboard. The package comes with long screwdriver, that suitable to mount the cooler and a little amount of thermal paste, so you dont need to buy extra themal paste, however it is not a pre-applied thermal paste.

to the extent that I now cannot tell if my PC is on or off. Retrofitted it to the Ryzen 7 5800x PC I build a few months ago, originally with an Antec Neptune 240 cooler. This was very colourful but so noisy it had to go.

Glad I kept the motherboard backplate, as that’s what this cooler uses (no AMD backplate supplied). Fitting the cooler is no more than moderately fiddly and the instructions are OK – the flat side of the cooler (the one with the t of ‘be quiet’ neaerest) goes towards the memory blocks.

Strongly recommend centring the aluminium locking bridge and putting the screws through its holes before placing the whole thing down onto the CPU and mounting plate. The rear screw is the tricky one – get that started, and then the supplied screwdriver goes down the holes in the cooling fans and can be used to tighten it – and do it evenly as described in the instructions.

I bought it recently for a SFF PC with an intel i5 10gen and I am pretty happy with the purchase. The installation is simple and it is included the thermal paste. It could have been a better one but it might be enough.

I am surprise about how quiet it is. The processor is working under 60°C without many workload but also during gaming the noise is quite acceptable and the temperatures are acceptable.

Excellent discrete low profile cooler. I have fit this cooler on most of my small form factor ryzen pc’s. Bonus fact: Pairs well with an Inwin B1. Everything from a 3200g to a 5700g; performs admirably as required.

Note: Some smaller cases need extra ventilation for the most powerful of apu’s. Don’t rely on the cooler alone.

Like others have said, installing this is anywhere from not easy to extremely infuriating. I installed this for the second time earlier today and must say it was a lot easier to do outside of the case than in it.

There are two screws holding the cooler onto its bracket. If you get one side threaded, then it’s nearly impossible to get the other without popping the first thread out in the process since you can’t thread more than a few turns without making the other screw’s thread impossible to reach.

All the while, you’re slipping and sliding on thermal paste, pressing down extremely hard on brand new hardware just trying to get the second screw to thread. If the screws were a bit longer, to where you could rest them in their holes before you begin evenly threading each screw in turn, it would make the process a hundred times easier.

I bought this since it’s all black and the fans are nice and big, but I probably should’ve done more research first. I guess its about the best air-cooling you’ll get for the size, that being a smaller single tower which clears ram and vrm heatsinks without taking too much room in a mid atx case.

There is a raised plate welded on the top however, with the coolermaster logo, that hides the top of the pipes but also needlessly adds a quarter inch or so of height, making it nearly incompatible with my case which thankfully has a raised plastic side panel instead of tempered glass.

I will probably go for AIO next time, whenever I part with this cooler, it just seems easier to work with/around and allows for more powerful CPUs in my build.

Would not buy again. The AM4 socket mounting solution was either poorly explained, poorly designed, furnished with the wrong parts, or perhaps even all three. What makes me most angry is that I’ll probably never know because the instructions for this thing are so utterly garbage.

I cannot emphasize that enough. See below. When I went to assemble this thing, I first tried reading the instruction manual which again due to it being pictures only and interleaving all the sequences into one was convoluted and difficult to follow.

So you’re supposed to remove your motherboard’s stock backing plate and use a custom backing plate provided which can support multiple different screw patterns. Okay fine except the snaps you use to secure the screws in place are extremely stiff.

I thought I was going to break them. That was just the start of the problems though. Next, the backing plate screws are way smaller in diameter than the holes on the motherboard so the backing plate can float and rotate.

Uh, okay that doesn’t seem right. Now that could be the motherboard’s fault but what’s not the motherboard’s fault is that the screws are shoulder screws and they aren’t threaded far enough to allow the socket-side standoffs to fully tighten against the motherboard.

So then when you put the mounting brackets on, they just sort of. wobble all over the place and I guess you can try to tighten the CPU cooler on top of that. I expect the threads would bind though. And moreover, the last-gen version of this same cooler I have in another machine had standoffs which firmly tightened against the motherboard.

That would lead me to think this one works the same way. But I can’t really know because again, the instruction manual didn’t articulate what to expect. Were the brackets supposed to be loose? Were they NOT supposed to be lose? Who knows!? Think about how much info something as simple as “cinch until finger tight against motherboard” conveys or “cinch until finger tight against shoulder screw”.

That’s all you needed to say. Then I could have known this is or is not design intent, or oh woops they sent me the wrong parts. I ended up completely hacking this thing together the way my brain expects it to work by using the standoffs for the Intel sockets as nuts on the back side of the motherboard and eschewing the backing plate entirely.

(I know, right?) That got my brackets to be solidly linked to the motherboard. Then I tightened the screws with the absurdly aggressive springs, worried I was going to crack the board or the CPU socket.

Or maybe they’re actually not that aggressive because you would have an extra 3mm when not tightening the brackets to the motherboard. Again I don’t know because the instruction manual didn’t explain anything!.

-Installed on an Intel i7-12700KF. Ran stress test and CPU temp leveled off at about 76°C (ambient temp 19°C). So decent cooling at least up to 190 W. Total noise from my case at this load is noticeable in a quiet environment, but completely drowned out when wearing headset or playing sound at even quiet volumes.

But to be honest I can’t tell how much is coming from the cooler or the six other fans in the case! -Installed, it doesn’t physically interfere with anything or block any slots on ASUS Prime Z690 D4 motherboard.

However, it can’t be installed or uninstalled if RAM is installed because you have to remove the fan to access the screws. Not really a negative, just something to note. -The package I received DID include LGA1700-compatible bracket, but it was NOT straightforward to figure this out.

Although the installation instructions are mostly the same, the manual and box haven’t been updated to mention “LGA1700” anywhere in the text. Had to search for images of the LGA1700 upgrade kit and do visual comparison, then test-fit to be sure.

Manual could use some extra information too, like that the bracket will sit loosely until the cooler is fully seated, and recommended tightness on screws. The spring-loaded screws on the cooler itself are long enough to damage capacitors on the board if you over-tighten, so be mindful!.

Didn’t see any reviews for this yet, so I wanted to leave one. For those wondering, this is the new version of the Hyper 212 that includes the LGA 1700 mounting bracket and backplate as well as the updated fan.

The product name here makes it seem like it is just a fan, but it is actually the most recent version of the Hyper 212. Hopefully this clears up the confusion. Installation is even easier than the older Hyper 212’s.

I was impressed with the simplicity of mounting it to my 1700 socket motherboard. I bought this as a temporary solution while I wait for an AK620 to arrive in the mail. Honestly though, this fan is quite nice and performs better than I expected.

(Using a 12600K for reference) Fit and finish is also better than expected in this price point. Noise levels are good. I cant hear it over my case fans in my Fractal Torrent. No RAM clearance issues as it doesn’t obstruct any of the DIMM slots.

Overall this is a very solid product that I would recommend.

My old PC used the non RGB model, so when deciding on a cooler for my partner’s new build this cooler was at the top of my list! The added RGB option really made this even more attractive as it would be a good addition to the case and RGB RAM we had already picked up for her machine.

Set up was straight forward and there are plenty of third-party guides to assist you with putting this together and getting your machine all set up! Only issue was the RGB setting were a little limited and it was near impossible to get it to directly line up with the cases other RGB settings, however this was likely due to the two choices coming from different brands.

In the end this issue actually created a happy accident as we ended up with a nice accent colour to contrast against the purple hues of the rest of the set up!.

My AIO pump went out and needed something to replace it that day or I was going to be out a pc for awhile. Easy install, instructions could be a little bit more in depth. But other than that it’s been great! Was going to order another aio, but with how this has been performing there is no need in it.

I7-10700k oc to 4. 8 from bios. Underload cpu stay between 60-65c. And I run the included fan at max at all times just personal preference. If you need something cheap but performs above expectations.

This is the thing you need.

It’s a OK heatsink but I’ve seen cheaper. Also if you don’t pay attention to the instructions you could end up installing it the wrong way. Depending on your CPU of course. Also no matter how tight you get this baby.

It will always wiggle so make sure you have it aligned and adjusted before you are done with it. So don’t go overboard tightening it super tight. Also watch out putting that thermal paste on, it fly’s out of the tube.

Running a Ryzen 5 3600 with stock CPU cooler and was having CPU overheating problems. After installing this unit, problems are solved. Haven’t seen over 60 degrees C even under the load that would previously overheat the CPU.

Pretty straightforward LGA 1700 bracket installation. It is also included so no need to wait another 2 weeks to get one from the manufacturer. 🙂 Very quiet, compared to my original leaf blower cooler.

Noctua quality in black which includes LGA 1700 support out of the box. No need to order extra brackets and no waiting to build your Alder Lake rig. Installation is very straightforward and although it is expensive Noctua quality and performance is worth the investment.

I have this paired with the i7 12700k at stock settings on an Asus Tuf z690 D4 board. Gaming temps are in the mid 50s C and hold 4800-4900 clocks when multiple threads are used. Running Cinebench pushes temps into the mid 70s and low 80s and considering the max is 100C on these chips there is plenty of headroom there.

Any decent case with some airflow should have no issues with this cooler and any AM4 CPU as well as any i5 or i7. I was concerned about temps with Alder Lake but under realistic loads that most everyone uses, especially gaming, this cooler is plenty.

I highly recommend giving this one a shot.

I purchased this cooler for my Intel 10400F CPU to upgrade to the stock cooler. There is a significant improvement in cooling performance. Up to low loads, the stock cooler maintained the CPU temp around 40-45°C; this Noctua maintains the CPU temp at around 30-35°C.

At moderate loads, the stock cooler operated up to ~60°C; this cooler maintains the CPU in the forties (°C), heading into the low fifties at worst. The additional cooling also means the case fans run at lower RPMs, so the demand on them is significantly reduced.

The cooler footprint isn’t large so combability is good (eg tall RAM still fits, etc). Plenty of parts are included to for compatibility with several types of Intel and AMD sockets. Highly recommended for entry and mid-range CPU cooling upgrades for a decent price.

This cooler is by far the best air cooler money can buy. I don’t have much experience with building computers, but the installation was seamless and easy with the instructions provided by Noctua. The air cooler comes with LGA 115x, the new 1700 socket for the Alder Lake CPU’s and AM4.

The thermal paste provided by Noctua is also top quality. Under load, the highest temperatures I’ve seen were around 75C, idle around 35-40C. Extremely comparable to any liquid cooling/AIO on the market currently.

The fan on the cooler is super quiet, I don’t here a thing when playing games. Overall, extremely satisfied with the purchase.

I had no trouble installing the fan, the clips were a bit snug. Came with thermal paste pre-applied to the base plate. I didn’t use the instructions, but read them after I installed it and they provide clear pictures.

I did a stress test on the benchmarking software Prime95 with the CPU, a Ryzen 5 2600, at stock settings and occasionally one core would hit 57 C with the other 5 at 37 C to 40 C. (Prime95 pushes your CPU to 100% load on all cores for the duration of the test) So I was really, really happy with the performance of this cooler since at no time during normal usage will my CPU be under constant 100% load.

This is a great cooler for any of the Ryzen 5s, and probably good for the Ryzen 7s, too. I also tested this on an Intel i5-11600k. On Prime95 the CPU hit 98 C-100 C at full load, with all cores running at 4.

6 – 4. 9 GHz. The cooler’s rated TDP is 150W, the 11th gen i5’s TDP is 125W, but when Turbo Boost kicks in it draws a lot more power and the Pure Rock 2 can’t keep up. If you’re not stress-testing it, it goes between 30C-45C, so if you’re not a power user, it should be fine for the i5-11600k.

The non-K versions of the 125W 10th and 11th gen Intel chips may do better. This is a fantastic solution. I was really impressed with its performance on the Ryzen 5. It stays really, really cool under harsh conditions and with the case panels on, you can’t hear a thing from the fan, and the all-black look is great.

I would be curious to see the performance difference when a second fan is added. Overall, a good buy.

From a guy who does very little in the way of system building. Cooler was recommended by the salesman when I didn’t have a clue on selection. Cooler seems quite large but up to the task. The design has some designed offset for clearance of memory and possibly other parts.

For a novice, the instructions are not very clear about a few steps of the assembly and orientation of the cooler on top of the CPU (for best parts clearance). The instructions are seriously deficient in deciding on which side of the cooler to attach the fan (parts clearance?), fan cord orientation (maybe nearest the mother board connector?), and air flow direction (maybe through cooler and towards back panel?).

The cooler came with thermal grease already in place – so I gooped it around while trying to confirm a viable orientation. I also did not need to buy separate thermal grease. In my 10 year old case, I had to remove some case ducting that was intended for much lower profile “pancake” CPU fans.

The Pure Rock 2 is an awesome CPU cooler, it keeps my 12400F under 60 at gaming load, with it usually averaging between 52 and 56 while in more CPU intensive games. It looks great, the black and silver should fit nicely with any build.

It’s also super easy to install, if you (like me) have had trouble mounting some tower coolers, this one is about as easy as it gets. As promised it’s also nearly silent, even at load. For me it ticks all the boxes, keeps my CPU nice and cool, and is quiet and easy to install Not to mention as someone who wanted to go for as little RBG as possible, this does a great job while still looking very nice.

I haven’t used air coolers for a while but I heard great things about the Noctua brand. This was larger than I expected. If you get this then make sure you go for lower profile ram sticks. When opening the box I was surprised how well packaged it was.

It was hard to imagine the fan getting damage in shipping. I was also surprised to find that you thermal paste. After reading about Noctua’s thermal paste online it seemed better than the one I purchased.

Purchased for a Ryzen 9 3950X build and I am very happy. This thing is big and heavy so make sure you have a case that can take it, I have a Corsair 750D for reference and it fits very well inside that.

Installation can be a little frustrating, securing the heatsink to the included fixing plates was a little difficult but I will put this down to something I was doing wrong. Ran Prime95 torture test for half an hour and at 100% load the CPU went up to 61 degrees C, at idle it’s in the 31 to 34 degrees C range.

Noise levels are just fine, I run the included fans at full speed (1500RPM) and there is a very low hum coming from the PC which is approx 1 foot away on my desk, not very loud in any way. I bought Noctua HSF for another dual Xeon build some time ago and, they too, were as good as this was, testament to the quality that Noctua provide.

If your case can accomodate this HSF you won’t be disappointed. The package also includes the Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste, you don’t need to get anything else.

Brought this awhile back. Very pleased with the results as always with Noctua! Easy to fit and quiet when running, does a great job of keeping my ryzen9 5900x cool although I havent got it overclocked to the max only running at 4.

5Ghz and temp of 48 off load and 68 underload. Scan, delivered my order fast, well packed and all items there!.

I purchased this AIO specifically because I like to have all of my components match. It’s a pretty standard 240mm AIO but ASUS TUF branded. I have no gripes about the performance. I sit at around 40C at idle at the time of writing.

My only issue with the product comes down to the AMD mounting hardware. It comes pre-installed with intel mounting hardware which isn’t an issue. Trying to replace it with the AMD hardware is a pain though.

AMD mounting hardware has you use pegs and one single thumb screw. Assuming you actually put the hardware on the AIO correctly and it doesn’t fall off while you try to mount it; The awkward amount pressure you have to put down leaves me feeling uncomfortable.

If you have an issue with the hardware falling off while you’re attaching it, suddenly you’ve run into another issue with the pre-applied thermal paste smearing. Perhaps I’m just a dummy and more qualified people don’t have these issues.

I will be re-applying thermal paste in the near future. A minor gripe I have is the branding stickers for the fans will only be visible if you have them mounted for exhaust. Which for seems odd given that the people buying this product are either buying it in a bundle, or just want the branding.

Overall though, it’s an AIO cooler that does the job it had set out to do. If you want to pay the ASUS premium. It’s not a horrible buy. I would recommend buying an AIO cooler with more AMD friendly mounting hardware if you don’t have your heart set on this product.

Seasonic SYNCRO Q704 case AMD 5800x ASUS TUF X570-plus WIFI ASUS TUF 3080ti.

The TUF Gaming LC 240 RGB is the first AIO I’ve ever used and I’m glad it was my first. The installation process was easy, apart from having to use the AM4 clip system, and fit perfectly in the top of my case.

Additionally, the splitter that ASUS includes in the box for the radiator fans was a must in my case as I have limited fan headers on my motherboard. I was going for a TUF themed build this time around and this AIO was the perfect centerpiece for it.

Using AURA Sync to handle all the RGB elements of my setup, from keyboard to the pump face, made matching all the lighting elements of the build a breeze. The tubes are the perfect length for using in a mid-tower ATX case without cramping the interior and they don’t protrude enough to interfere with any of the RAM slots on the motherboard, which is a very good thing.

I’m only docking an egg because the mounting mechanism is a bit unwieldy, and ASUS ships the unit with the INTEL bracket already installed so you have to go through taking that off and then putting the AM4 bracket on.

This can be a bit frustrating if you’re trying not to disturb the pre-applied thermal paste and it would make much more sense for Asus to not pre-mount the INTEL bracket. Overall, the cooler keeps my Ryzen 7 3700x cool under load while remaining surprisingly quiet.

As I said in the pros, there is no audible pump noise and the only thing you’ll hear is the fans when they ramp up beyond a certain threshold, which you can change through Asus’ Armory Crate application.

The RGB lighting provided from the fans also gives off a nice “glow” instead of just being a distracting beacon in the build and it’s the perfect size for a mid-size ATX build.

Bought this CPU cooler when I was upgrading my rig from an i5 to an i7. Stock cooler had the same push pins as this cooler so thought it would be a straightforward swap. However I found that only 2 of the pins clipped in and held and the other 2 would click in but not to the board.

Meaning my cpu temp was off the chart. Have decided to get a bigger cooler with better mounting. Apart from that looks great, easy to install to some extent. Silent and great value.

Would have given it 5 stars but one problem was installing the pin set, since this in not the normal phillips screw setup. The fan works great and monitoring my temps I can see it’s doing a great job.

When things do heat up, it cools them down fast. Have a alien-ware X51 and the CPU fan sounded like a jet engine taking off, with this I don’t even know it’s there. Cheap CPU fan that work excellent once installed.

I needed a slightly better CPU cooler then stock Intel cooler, as my small case ITX build left the CPU running at 80oC under full load. Once new cooler installed temp improved to around 68oC at full load.

The Intel cooler was noisy at full throttle, this one makes very little noise under pressure, A good buy, not expensive.

Fitted this on my i9-12900KS and it maintains 65-70c while gaming. Ensure it comes with a free lga-1700 fitting kit if you need it !!. Overclockers have them and BeQuiet will send for free too if not in the box.

Note the heatpipes are angled to clear your ram slots on lga-1700 boards. Use their motherboard compatability checker on their website. Shame this is white yet they fitted a black fan !? (Bequiet have white fans too).

Note the fitted fan is 1600rpm not 1100rpm as with their others.

An extremely quiet cooler with good performance on my slightly overclocked 8 core Ryzen 1800X. Installation could be easier, the final step requiring you to balance a screw on the securing crossbar as you install it.

Can’t help think you’re meant to lower it into place with the supplied magnetic screwdriver, but the screw head is too big. Caveat: if you’re wondering what the washers are for (AMD), as the install sheet doesn’t mention them, there’s an updated guide online.

Clips for two fans are included, so you could add a second to improve performance on a high TDP system.

Originally used stock cooler for Skt1200 I9-10900 but found the noisey constantly changing fan speed under load very annoying, bought this more for noise reduction than temperature concerns, it has worked great for both, I no longer ever hear the fan and where it was in the 60s before its now in the 30s, I like that the bracket is all metal as I have had coolers before where the plastic brackets go brittle and break over time, not too fiddly to fit, they supply a screwdriver that fits through a hole in the top of the cooler to allow tightening the more difficult side, worth noting that the cooler is very tall, fits in my case *just*, so worth checking clearance.

When it comes to cooling your CPU, you have several options, and the second you choose to look at water cooling you should instantly look to a corsair and this is for several reasons. Aesthetics – The RGB on the H100i/H150i is amazing.

The lights are evenly dispersed and graded so you cant see and individual lights and the gradient flow is very smooth. Corsair ICue can be a hassle but once you get the flow of it – it is AMAZING. I can have my Phillips hue lights in my office/game room and have all my lights matching in corsairs ICUE software which is to my knowledge exclusive.

Performance – Though not the triple rad, the 8700k has plenty of cap room for a reasonably aggressive overclocking without throttling. For reference – I use the H150i for my 5950x and it never goes over 65 degrees at 5ghz which is pretty impressive.

You can never hear the pump and as far as corsair support goes they will RMA anything with little to zero hassle which is always a win with good customer support. Price and Upgradeability – When it comes to price I am always shocked to see corsair cheaper than almost every other AIO on the market while performing better, the fans that come with it are also decent fans with good RGB as well! This AIO is also upgradable which is almost unheard of as you can upgrade the LED lights to a screen should you want to at a later time.

Conclusion – Regardless of whether you are looking for a 240 or a triple rad I would never consider another option other than corsair. After 15-20 PC builds you can tell quality when you see it and Corsair has never faulted me on quality, customer service, or performance.

I couldn’t recommend an AIO or a PC brand more than corsair.

As other reviewers say, the pump whine is ridiculous with this unit. I actually thought it was defective before searching for similar customer issues. I’ve always had Corsair liquid coolers, but this is by far the most annoying pump I’ve ever had.

It is constantly buzzing/whining even on the desktop, doing nothing. It’s louder than the 5 fans currently running in the case. No lie, this pump makes more noise than the AMD 6700XT reference card I’m currently using! That is saying something because AMD reference cards are known to be loud and hot.

I read that Corsair changed the pump manufacturer used for their AIO coolers, so if that’s the case, bad move by Corsair. I have 5 Corsair products total now, and this is the first purchase I’ve regretted.

It’s WAYYY too expensive to have a problem like this. Also, in some games like Destiny, just by having your camera facing different objects in-game, you can change the sound and whine of this CPU cooler haha.

Once again, with that happening, I thought the crazy noise was coming from the AMD GPU, until I opened the side panel and got down in the floor to listen. Nope, it’s this CPU pump. Sounds very similar to my dorm-size refrigerator running.

One more thing. When I reboot my computer, and sometimes when I’m shutting it down, the AIO fans ramp up to what sounds like full RPM speeds. It gets concerning loud. Enough to wake up someone in the same room sleeping.

With all that said, the h150i keeps the CPU very cool and the RGB is cool to use with my other Corsair products, but the noises this pump is causing kind of ruins everything else for me.

I ordered the 280mm version. TLDR; Solid AIO cooler lowered my 9900K temps by about ~10-15C I have a push pull configuration front case mounted, with a total of 4x Corsair ML RGB Fans attached to the Rad.

I also have it mounted on top of my delided i9 9900K. Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut in between the die and copper cold plate. Running my system on an Asus HERO X Maximus MB. in a Phanteks Eclipse P350X case.

Solid 5Ghz idle temps at the desktop screen are 38-40C. Vs the 55-60C on Air cooling. I Used to have the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi cooling my system. (Delid with Conductonaut as well) But I was getting tired of constantly seeing 90+C CPU temps when playing AAA games.

As a test. I would run the AIDA64 Extreme stress test and run it for a few seconds. And immediately notice the thermal throttle and would downclock from 5Ghz and the core temperature would reach 100C.

Spicy and toasty! I Ran the same tests, this time with the AIO cooler from Corsair. And I never saw thermal throttle and I ran it for a solid 5mins vs the previous 30 seconds. The clocks stayed at full speed 5Ghz and max temps hovered around 83-86C Mind you, these are ridiculous tests and you would probably only see these high temps if running [email protected], and not even when exporting video files after editing! So if you want higher clocks with a higher thermal capacity, then this AIO cooler is for you! That great debate over AIR vs Water cooling a CPU.

Well hands down, I am a true believer of water cooling now. Solid build quality as well as the RGB to make it look nice and pretty! CUE software has greatly improved over the years as well! For the Delid, you’ll have to put spacers behind the CPU mounting bracket, And I straight up just reused my Cryorig H7 CPU cooler mount with this Corsair AIO pump mount.

Since it was already there might as well. My delid kit was put together from RockitCool Intel 9th Gen Direct to Die Kit. For more info on delid, go on YU (YouTube University) and look up GamersNexus.

Preface: I actually bought one of these back in 2018 when I was building my i7-8700K. After installing it, the cooler would twist about 5-10% back and forth. I contacted BeQuiet who said don’t worry about it, it should be fine.

I didn’t accept that and returned it. Since then, I have installed these on friends’ systems which much success. My son purchased this too. The latest one I installed was on a i7-11700K and it handled the heat remarkably well given the thermals given off by that processor (watts used).

I decided to give it another chance. I thought I was having a CPU cooling fan issue (scraping the sides of the fan frame), so decided to replace my cnps14x. My cnps14x had the one included fan and one optional fan.

For some reason, and I don’t know why, I installed an Excalibur 2000rpm airflow fan as my secondary fan in push configuration. Don’t ask my why, what I was thinking, or how it continued that way. I would never use an air flow fan for a static pressure fan.

Only thing I can think of was that I was planning on testing to see if airflow vs static pressure would make a difference and then forgot to test and forgot about the fan installed. The instructions are decent, but they lack some detail (in my opinion) for diagrams that beginners may have a little trouble with (like the orientation of the mounting brackets on each side of the processor after you attach the CPU backplate support.

I had to do a quick test mount to see which way those two brackets get oriented – maybe I’m just whining, but not knocking off points for that). Once you mount the backplate, and the CPU mounting brackets, it’s time to mount the CPU cooler.

To do this, you have to remove the center CPU cooling fan. I recommend in cramped motherboards, you use a small 4x pin fan header extension cable before mounting the cooler if you can manage the extra wire (tie straps).

If not, it’s not impossible, but for someone with big hands, it’s a challenge. On my Maximus X Code, I attached the CPU fan first, before mounting the cooler itself (the CPU primary fan header is slightly obscured by the cooler and difficult to get to after the fact by the large heat sinks/plastic bezel of the Maximus motherboard.

I also decided to reattach the included secondary fan, installed in the push config, to rotate it 90% so that the excess fan cable isn’t bulging out/getting in the way of the fans. Rotating it used up the fan cable slack which is another reason I needed to install the fan header before mounting the cooler.

Once you mount the cooler, you need the included long screwdriver with the mounting bar (to connect to the two CPU mounting brackets). It’s a little tough getting the screw in, but I got it with perseverance (not marking off because of my big hands).

Lastly, install the center fan (make sure you install it in the correct orientation (fan is marked with the air flow direction). First I fed through the CPU cable, attached it, and then fed the fan through the center.

Used the included brackets to secure the fan to the cooler – DO NOT USE anything but your fingers to detach/attach the fan brackets – doing so may scratch off the finish/paint off of the cooler fins – won’t damage it, but doesn’t look good – this happened to me on the first one I bought.

Keep in mind what I said earlier I added an airflow fan instead of a static pressure fan to my cnps14x cooler. That being said, testing using Prime95 Blended test (3rd test option), using Artic MX4 paste (nothing wrong with BeQuiet included paste, I just used my own), and RealTempGT I noticed that over the cnps14x dual fan install, with fan control set to auto, that the temps after 5, 7, and 8 mins reached between 67 and 72*C between the 6 cores.

This was almost identical to the cnps14x cooling performance with Antec 7 paste, so no real improvement. I tested again, but this time, set all fans to 100%. Temps ranged from 55 to 63*C after 8 mins.

This was an improvement over the cnps14x which had temps between 60* and 64*C at 100% fan usage. Also, at rest, fans on auto, the temps were around 29/30*C with the Dark Rock Pro 4. Ambient temps were around 68*F In summary, I probably didn’t need to upgrade my cooler.

The cnps14x was doing a fine job even with one hand tied behind its back (the addition of the air flow fan versus a proper static pressure fan). Still, this install on the same motherboard, same chip from 2018, went perfectly and there was no twisting of the CPU cooler once installed.

I’m not marking off any eggs for this cooler because I didn’t need to buy it – that’s on me. The DRP4 does it’s job and I’m happy with that. It received 5 eggs from me for it’s sturdiness, looks, fan/cooling ability, reasonable installation skill requirement, and pricing.

If you are on a budget, consider the cnps14x or the Neptwin V2 coolers as I feel they do just as good of a cooling job, are decently sturdy, and more cost efficient, but I would buy a DRP4 again.

This is a no compromise CPU air cooler that impresses in every way. The build quality is meticulous, the provided fan is quiet and effective, the fit for typical Intel sockets is perfect, the mounting hardware is solid and well designed, and the cooler looks great mounted on your motherboard.

It’s not the most compact cooler, but it’s not the largest either. Clearances for height and width of the cooler may be tight, and will be on an individual basis. For my system, with an ATX motherboard and full size tower case, the 135mm fan barely clears the system RAM (position can be adjusted), and there is 1/4 to 1/2 inch clearance between the top of the cooler and the side of the tower case.

I have a second fan on the cooler, 120mm, which fits easily with no clearance issues. The cooler can be rotated when mounting to point in any direction (left, right, up, down) since the base is essentially a square shape.

The fan(s) can be flipped or swapped if needed to find clearance on your system. That’s all awesome but the cooler first has to get the job done. This one gets the job done with no excuses. I have it mounted to an i9-9900K overclocked to 5GHz and with no limit on turbo boost power.

The socket sees typical power peaks of 130 watts intermittently with the system running at 100%. Average power was 95 to 100 watts at 100%. This cooler is able to maintain CPU temperatures around 65 degrees C indefinitely under those load conditions.

That’s extremely impressive performance, and that’s why I highly recommend the Dark Rock 4 Air Cooler.

All of my issues with this are self-inflicted from inexperience. Learn from my mistakes: -Mounting direction matters. The fans are supposed to blow right-to-left. If you need to have them blow left-to-right, you can mount it upside down, but make sure you don’t do this when your supposed to have them blow the other way.

You cannot simply flip the fans around and expect them to work, as they’ll brush against the heatsink and won’t move. If you install it backwards as well, it can significantly worsen your thermals depending on your fan setup.

-Take your motherboard *out* when doing any swapping on it. It will save you a ton of frustration trying to get the fan clips in place and in placing the screws. -You *need* to use the included screwdriver, don’t throw it away or lose it.

Its designed specifically to fit in the holes in the top of the heatsink to screw the mount on from the bottom. -If you have to remove this from your CPU, depending on your CPU/ thethermal paste you use there may be suction between the CPU and the heatsink.

Mine actually came out when I removed the heatsink to flip it around, nearly gave me a heart attack. I had to use a thermal paste spreader to nudge it off. Just don’t panic if this happens, and make sure you don’t get any thermal paste on your pins if using an AMD CPU.

-The second fan goes in CPU_Opt. That’s what its for, CPU Optional Fan. This wasn’t explained very clearly in my motherboard manual. Sorry if this is obvious, but maybe it’ll save someone some of the pain I went through.

All of that aside, I’m very happy with this cooler, and hope this helps save at least some of you from hours of frustration.

I am running an non OC 1800x, I idle at around 35-46c, a little high for my tastes but not dangerous levels, on load I reach up to 70-80c, well within acceptable operating temps So in a nutshell it works, However I would like to see my temps at least 20c lower than this, to that end this cooler is not designed for best performance As it is listed as a compact quiet and low profile I will go into detail about those point specifically, It is not as ‘small’ as its sister cooler but it does indeed sit well below the clearance of most high performance graphics cards, I have a 1080 TI and the reaches barley half way along the width of the GFX card, Clearance between RAM and GFX card is as you might expect, with at least an inch clearance between these components, more in the case of the GFX card.

Using a turbo fan speed profile on my MOBO, Crosshair VI Hero, I do not hear the fan over my system fans or the transistors in the GFX card, my PC is situated on my desk a foot away from me, At full power you will hear the fan but it is in no way too loud and the only time I have noticed the fan speed up to full is under synthetic loads.

Summary: The Noctua NH-L9x65 is a great cooler if you’re not planning on putting your CPU though it’s paces and serves well in low form factor cases and situations where case real-estate is limited. That said if you are looking for performance this is not the cooler for you.

When I read the other review, I thought the guy had made a silly installation mistake or something, but how wrong I was, this cooler keeps my 1600x at 70c IDLE! I have yet to stress it I am afraid to, but when doing a lot of PDF work it hits 90 nearly instantly! I do NOT recommend this cooler.

Noctua’s website suggested this is OK for a 2700x in a well ventilated case. I can confirm that in an mini-itx case with the psu close above the cpu- it doesn’t work! 95degs under load, avoid for this cpu.

The Noctua cpu cooler is a quiet, compact CPU cooler that fits very nicely inside my ITX-mini case. It was easy to install, and it has run without incident as I’ve maxed out my new linux box with multithreaded applications in scientific computing.

I have no trouble keeping all 16 virtual cores busy handling thousands of queued threads running in parallel on my midrange 8 CPU Ryzen chip, and while I can hear the fan spin up, it hasn’t been a bother, and there has been no adverse overheating, even with sustained maximum use.

The hardest part was unpacking the *naming* convention. Noctua NH-L9a is for the AM4. The Noctual NH-L9i is the intel mothernboard version. The difference is clear *after* you see them side by side, but not before.

Microcenter was decent about swapping my mispurchased Intel version for the correct AMD version.

Use it in a Asrock Deskmini X300 with Ryzen 5700G APU. Runs silent under full load. With a 5700G APU I`ve measured idle: 30dgr and full load: 85dgr. Easy to mount, there is even thermal compound paste included in the package.

I order Thermal Grizzly (which has a better thermal conductivity) and did not use the Noctua paste. I would have preferred a black fan in stead of the off-white cooling fan. The off white cooler is visible in the deskmini housing.

Maybe I`ll replace it in future for a 12cm fan.

Overall, this cpu cooler serves its purpose. My case has two motherboards in it and the stock Wraith cooler on the second board was obstructing my second and third PCI-e slots. This cooler does run several degrees hotter than the Wraith Cooler due to having a smaller heatsink.

It was slightly difficult to install on the mini-ITX board due to the wider spread of the heatsink. But these problems were expected going into it. On the plus side, the fan is sufficiently silent even without the low noise adapter, which I would not suggest using as it makes the cooler run even hotter.

My biggest complaint is that the fan is not a standard size fan, and as a result I’m stuck with the hideously ugly colors that don’t match the rest of my case at all. It would be nice if there was a black or clear fan that would fit on this, preferably with an RGB option.

I have a Ryzen 9 3900X system and wanted something that was much quieter and delivered better performance than the bundled Wraith Prism cooler. This delivered on both accounts. With the AMD Wraith Prism, I was idling near 50C and the fan was always noisily ramping up even when web browsing.

At full CPU load it was very loud and still could barely keep my CPU under 90C. With this new Dark Rock Slim, I am Idling in the mid 30’s, and full load torture test is in the mid 70s. The fan never ramps up audibly.

At full blast, I still have to lean an ear towards my case to hear it running. It’s truly impressive. The best part is that it is not some massive monster cooler that blocks your RAM and cable connectors.

it is a little tall, but very reasonably sized and slim. Looks very clean in your system as it doesn’t fill up the whole case. Installation was a little challenging as the instructions are not extremely clear.

It’s possible to do without removing MB from case. Took me about 20 minutes, but I could probably do it in 5 a second time now that I know how to do it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a silent, reasonably compact and well performing cooler.

I’ve been using Enermax LiqTech TR4 360 AIO for the paste 2+ years on Threadripper 1950X and it eventually stopped working due to really bad corrosion with temps above 60° while idle. Moving to air cooling made perfect sense, I mean; no corrosion, no dead pump, no leakage, etc.

Shipping: it was surprisingly fast, I received it 5 days before its estimated delivery date (international shipping during corona!). Temperature: 32°-40° (idle on BIOS), 44°-56° (under load), ambient temperature 22°-24°.

Installation: a bit over complicated. Noise: it is really quiet even under load (not talking about bench marking). Things to consider: 1. It partially covers the first PCIe slot (MB: Asus Zenith Extreme) and I had to move the GPU to a different slot.

2. RAM clearance is a bit tricky, make sure that it will fit. 3. It is massive compare to an AIO, you need to check that it will fit. Overall: I am very satisfied with this cooler as well as the shopping experience at this website (first time shopping here).

I am using this to cool my Threadripper 2990WX processor. With the precision boost overdrive enabled, all 32 cores will run between 3. 9GHz and 4. 0GHz for most multi-threaded applications. With synthetic stress testers like Statuscore and Prime95, speeds will slowly throttle down to the 3.

5GHz range, which is still very impressive for an air cooler on 32-cores! This cools better than the two Enermax Liqtech 360 coolers that I tried; both of those AIO coolers failed in under a year, and both were sent back for RMA.

I literally have a brand-new, in box replacement from Enermax sitting unopened because I’d rather keep this air cooler on it. The heatsink barely gets warm and even under full load with synthetics, I never hear the fans.

This is much quieter than the Liqtech. By a mile. The only thing you should be concerned about is the size. No joke– it’s is big as a toaster. 4 of the 8 DRAM modules cannot be installed or removed without first removing the heatsink.

Your video card will still fit into the top slot but the backplate will have less than 2 millimeters of clearance. Just FYI. Highly recommended. Take it from me– I’ve had a 1950X, a 2950X and now a 2990WX, I’ve used a Corsair AIO cooler and the Liqtech 360.

This isn’t going to clog up, outperforms over the long run, it’s quiet and it’s a hoot to look at. When I was ordering the product, I was unsure. Now that I’ve been using it for a month, buy it. Absolutely buy it.

Swapped from standard run-of-the-mill, weak-sauce, all-aluminum Wraith Spire (3600X). Upgrading from a ~92mm to this 120mm makes big difference but the tower alone is already an upgrade. Here’s how it shakes down — this thing spinning at 1100RPM (barely audible) cools as well as the rattly spire cooler at 2000RPM.

This makes a world of difference for noise levels. Used pre-applied paste which is fine. This thing maxes out at less than 1800RPM which means peak cooling performance is about the same as the Wraith Spire screaming like a jet engine at 2900RPM full tilt.

Mind you, that works out respectably with peak temps in the low 70s (deg. Celsius) at a reasonable 1600RPM. with comfortable peak temperatures in the world at large being about 80* C for Ryzen 3000. IN THIS CASE MY AMBIENT BEING 25* C : that’s right I said it.

actually stated my ambient temperature. chew on that, 95% of reviewers that state a CPU/GPU temperature without any context of whether they’re running at 15* C or 35* C ambient. Temperature delta is the only meaningful way to evaluate cooling performance.

It’s probably because Farrenheit heads don’t respect lord Celsius. Note, my case has very good air flow and will have very close internal temperatures compared to ambient of the larger establishment (disgusting, greasy gaming dungeon).

We have 4 older computers we built years ago for our business that are still running pretty quick thanks to the use of fast RAM and Kingston HyperX SSD. Two of them use A10-5800K and two use A8-5600K.

Both are 100W TDP CPUs. One of them started shutting down during it’s morning virus scan. Thanks to the SSD, the virus scan takes the CPU to 100% load, utilizing all 4 cores. Being that these CPUs are APUs, I later found out that they tend to run much hotter than a regular CPU with the same TDP.

After I blew the 8 or so years of dust that made it through the cases dust filters, the reboot’s became less frequent. I tried replacing the thermal compound and noticed very little difference. I estimate that the stock coolers were really only designed for about 65W TDP and thus not capable of cooling properly.

Using HWMonitor, I found the CPUs were getting to 91°C. Their listed thermal limit is 74°C. We purchased one of these coolers, not wanting to throw a lot of money towards an 8 year old computer. We noticed a temperature drop of 10°C-12°C, especially after updating the BIOS so that the PWM profile would actually do something on one of the two MSI FM2-A55M-E35 motherboards.

Being impressed with the results and not wanting to see an issue in the other computers, we ordered 3 more of the GAMMAXX 300’s. The ASUS FM2A78M-HD+ motherboard PWM was not as aggressive enough in “Turbo mode” and a BIOS update did not help the PWM profile perform any better, and only actually got up to 1200 RPM in “Turbo” mode (manual mode was useless at 1000 RPM no matter the temperature).

The ASUS only saw a 10°C drop during it’s daily virus scan. One of our later-built computers has an MSI A78-E45 V2 motherboard. It’s PWM profile works perfectly and was able to achieve an impressive 17°C drop as it’s PWM would actually take the fan to 100% speed at about 1600 RPM.

The MSI A78-E45 V2 motherboard PWM never got the CPU above 74°C. The other two MSI motherboards now take much longer to get above 74°C and when stressed, will not get above 79°C.

Cools fine my 9600k OC at 4. 9 with 1. 32v. Idles in the high 20’s to low 30’s. Max efforts for 30 minutes with all fans at 100% it’ll be in the mid 70’s. I changed the preapplied paste for Arctic Silver and that’s it.

From looks it seems super easy to install on a new build but if you are in my situation, having to install it in a prebuilt computer, it’s just too hard! Took me 30 to 45 minutes to install it because the clips were not holding on the fan to lock me on the heat sink.

It could easily be corrected. Instead of half wholes in the fan for the brackets, make a whole thru and thru. Just that would help a lot for balance when installing it. Holding pressure would be from the brackets angles instead of their wire tips.

It’d actually cost nothing more to produce and it’d be a better design!.

Der Kühler ist Allerdings s groß und man braucht einen etwas breiteren Midi Tower Gehäuse. Sonst ist dieser Schön Bunt und wechselt im Betrieb die RGB Fahren und Kühlt die Intel CPU schon sehr runter.

Bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Kauf. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

When reading other reviews here, I see people running their CPUs well above the 68c limit recommended by AMD for *all* 1st and 2nd gen Threadripper. I’m running a first gen Threadripper 1900x. At full load I’m sitting rock steady at 69c.

(Not being cheeky with the temp. ) That’s one degree hotter than AMD specs. Either I am running a bit hot or the temp reading is off. For that alone, I take one egg away. Otherwise, I have two 1080’s with fans that far outpace my Noctua and therefore this fan “is” silent.

Tip: Read the installation instructions before installing. I did and it saved me from any hardship. Threadripper is not like any other CPU skt I’ve worked with. You’ve been warned. Edit: I bought a second fan for this cooler.

No change in temp doing a push/pull.

I installed this on a 2950X. My CPU temperatures at idle are around 65C. Make the CPU work hard and the temperature hits the throttling limit of 95C within seconds and the system event log fills with messages about the temperature exceeding the limit and then dropping back every second or so.

I put my finger on the heatsink and the top of the heatsink was barely warm while the CPU was at 95C. I know how to use thermal paste, so that isn’t the issue, but I did re-seat the heatsink twice with a thorough cleaning of everything in between just to be sure.

The first 2 times I used the included thermal paste, the last time I used Arctic Silver instead. The Arctic Silver did a slightly better job, but only dropped the temperature at idle by a few degrees.

Thermal design isn’t my area of expertise, but I tend to think the issue is that the heatpipes have far too much thermal resistance and the cooler needs more or bigger ones. There is certainly enough area in the fins and the fan is quite good (and if those were the problem the whole heatsink would get hot, but it doesn’t).

Water cooling next I think.

I installed an Asrock Taichi X399 motherboard with an AMD 2950 and 64 GB memory in an old case. I was concerned that the setup would be a tight fit, so I purchased this cooler, rather than the 14 inch version.

It was a very tight fit, requiring that i move the fans up from the base in order to clear the RAM chips. Once i booted the system it was obvious that I had a problem because the CPU temp at idle was excessive.

Running some test raised the temperature more. I looked at closed liquid cooling alternatives, None seemed much better in tests than the 14 inch Nactual cooler. (I have never played a computer game. The computer is primarily for scientific programming and phot processing of a very high res camera.

) I decided to try the NH-U14S with a second fan. I only did so after I CAREFULLY COMPARED its dimensions and those of the motherboard. Amazingly, it fits better because it is narrower and higher. Equally importantly, the new cooler works better, with idle CPU temps below 40 deg and operational temperatures no higher than the mid 50s.
